I have Chao Lilac on the mind now........ Every time Espio is telling her she can't do something she flies to the celing in protest because she figures he can't, but Espio is well-trained for this scenario through Charmy😂 (who'd be the cutest big brother actually💕💕)

AKAKAKAKAKAKAKAKAKAK, now imagine if Espio turns invisible as she looks away all but pouting after his attempt to lecture her and proceeds to climb all the way up there and turns visible again looking anything but happy... The poor chao was jump-Espio-cared 😔🤣🤣

I figure everyone then thinks this trick is quickly gonna fall in disuse, but then the little Chao is clever to take note that almost all of her Chao-sitters, unlike her caretakers, can't counter that card and so the mischief overflows galore wherever it's Charmy the one keeping an eye on her for Silver and Espio 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 ...to everyone's surprise, especially Vector AKAKAKAKAL

At least she can't keep that altitude forever... Or can she? 🤔

🎯 for a story about a big (or small!) achievement

“Lilac!!” Silver cheers. “I knew you could do it!”

Proudly Lilac clutches the little golden trophy against her chest. The Chao races had gone in her favour today: no cliff had been too tough to climb, no lake too big to swim through and the sky had been the limit. Even the karate competition had gone well, her opponent tackled with the fiercest Chao battle cry she could muster and the resulting scuffle ending in her victory. Sure, at that part Espio had looked a bit embarrassed, but Silver had been cheering her on just as loudly as he is now: swooping her up in his arms the hedgehog nuzzles her delightedly, a smile beaming on his face. “Espio, look at our little winner!”

“Indeed. You did very well out there,” Espio praises her also, Lilac cooing at him with a heart above her head. Because they’d been training her so well! Proudly the Chao holds up her trophy for the chameleon to see, an impressed nod following. “What a marvellous reward. You deserve it for how hard you worked.”

“We gotta put it somewhere nice. Where everyone can see it! And Lilac’s gotta get lots of fruits and candy because she did amazing,” Silver decrees, Lilac peeking up eagerly at that. Sounds good! Even if Espio chuckles, a lithe finger booping Silver right on his nose.

“We can’t give her a sugar rush, tenshi.”

“Chao,” Lilac pouts at him, though the chameleon boops her little face next.

“My tiny, it’s not nice to have a sugar crash. Especially not on a day like today.”

She knows Espio is right, but Lilac still pulls the cutest angy face she can manage. At least one fruit and some candy, then! She can’t eat this trophy, her little nubs bapping at it to show just that. “Okay, okay, we’ll get you something tasty when we get home,” Espio caves as expected, Lilac promptly reshaping her orb into a heart. Yes!!

“She deserves it,” Silver backs her up. “I’m sure she broke some records here and there. Definitely ones she set in previous competitions.”

“Well, you’ve been working very hard to help Lilac with her flying. She was faster than Sonic out there,” Espio smiles at Silver, who laughs back warmly.

“You’ve been helping her with fighting, though!”

“…Yes, indeed. Though I think that going right for the opponent’s throat is something she got from you…”

Innocently Lilac chirps, far too tiny and cute for her papa to scold her on that matter. “Eh, surely not,” Silver shrugs with mischief in his eyes. “Anyway, we gotta go celebrate! And tell everyone!”

“That we must,” Espio agrees, Lilac lovingly petted over her head and the Chao nuzzling into the touch delightedly. Though, she would be lying if she said she wasn’t tired… “Or maybe get some rest first,” the chameleon adds as a yawn slips past her lips, though Lilac still murrs in protest at that statement as her orb forms into an irked spiral. She wants to have fun!!

“Lilac, we can party later after you napped. Otherwise you’re just going to sleep through it,” Silver does his best to be responsible this time, tucking her plus trophy away into his mane. “You can rest while we go home and Espio and I can set things up in the meantime, okay?”

Rubbing at one eye Lilac sighs, orb going back to normal again. Not what she wants, but what can she do… She can’t tell Silver and Espio, and even if she could, no doubt the duo would be far too worried over her to listen. Oh well, it means she’s loved, the Chao knows very well. Because Espio and Silver adore her, and it shows in everything they do and say. “Shouldn’t we hold the party tomorrow?” she can hear Espio whisper, Silver’s answer far more obvious.

“Lilac won’t want that.”

“So stubborn…”

“She got that from you.”

“What?!” the chameleon shoots back quietly, fond affrontedness clear in his voice. “Tenshi, if there is anyone-!”

“It’d be you,” Silver interrupts, before laughing and darting away, and Lilac sleepily coos into his chest fluff as he and Espio banter while making their way home. She’s very much loved, and not just because she won a big Chao competition, but because she’s got the best and sweetest Chao guardians in the whole wide world looking after her.

And thus she’ll be the best and sweetest Chao for them in turn, and they’ll all be very happy together forever, she is certain.

Women are ... much more than men, expected to look younger than they are. As Susan Sontag wrote, in an essay called 'The Double Standard of Ageing', '[For women], only one standard of female beauty is sanctioned: the girl. The great advantage men have is that out culture allows two standards of male beauty: the boy and the man. The beauty of a boy resembles the beauty of a girl. In both, sexes it is a fragile kind of beauty and flourishes naturally only in the early part of the life-cycle. Happily, men are able to accept themselves under another standard of good looks – heavier, rougher, more thickly built. A man does not grieve when he loses the smooth, unlined, hairless skin of a boy. For he has only exchanged one form of attractiveness for another: the darker skin of a man's face, roughened by daily shaving, showing marks of emotions and the normal lines of age.

'There is no equivalent of this second standard for women. The single standard of beauty for women dictates that they must go one having clear skin. Wait what? But… he didn’t mate with anyone in the pride? Why was there father exile?

That's definitely part of the argument was made. It was a bit of an unprecedented situation--a coalition tom has never in pride memory brought back a litter they had while away from the Valley. Other cats argued that he (his name was Laurel) broke the coalitions law of silence, where the toms aren't allowed to speak about where they go during the Sleeping Year.

It can also be argued that he broke a law of queens, where a pride cat can't have kittens with an outsider, but are protected by the "don't ask, don't tell" clause around a litter's sire. Doesn't work as well when a tom brings a litter back, because everyone knows that the dam must be an outsider.

Laurel just wanted his kits safe, because for whatever reason the mate he took couldn't take care of them. He had a lot of misgivings about the prides and how they worked, but he thought at least they would let this be a cut and dry issue and take in the kittens without asking too many questions. Instead, the topic began to circle into "what to do with them" so it was his offer to take the fall--he broke the law, but his children shouldn't suffer.

So he fully agreed to be exiled. Maybe he was weirdly relieved because of it too.

Lilac has learned much from Charmy and therefore lethally sasses poor Silver and Espio at any opportunity, except she's got Silver's honestly too and thus her remarks are always earnest observations of the world around her with zero harmful intent, haha. Somehow this does not make her dads feel much better XD

Figured Charmy would set as his mission to make sure Lilac would be very sassy towards her dads... Guess he accomplished it in a way AKAKAKAKAAKAKAKAKAKAK

Not the way he meant though, Lilac can't agree when he says "pirates are cooler than ninja" but not because she understands Charmy's goal, but because she finds pirates actually lame and that only magic princesses are cooler than ninja "like, a this much *outstretch arms* cooler", what then is even more disconcerting for Espio... What means a victory for Charmy. Every time Espio is on the loss, Charmy wins KAKAKAKAKAK

It's worse because they ALWAYS have hope it will turn out she does not have a Z to consider, but she always pull it without ever realize her dads had expectations.

Lilac: Dads, Charmy said today Shadow is the coolest hedgehog in this world.

Silver: And what do you think, darling?

Lilac, folding her arms: Obviously he is wrong... *Espio & Silver smiles* ...Sonic is far cooler than any hedgehog in this world!

I unfortunately have never watched Spy X Family before, though I would love to! If I know where to find it in Japanese somewhere, it would help greatly with my Japanese practice, I think.

That being said, I can see Espilver and Lilac work with the premise (as much as I know of it) very well. Espio can be the assassin, Silver the secret agent (at least, I believe that is what the parents' roles are?), and I can absolutely see Lilac have telepathic powers. (I still have the idea for her having plant powers in my mind, but I do believe Anya being telepathic is so integral to the plot, it cannot be easily switched out with a different power.) Afaik Spy X Family has quite well-developed family fluff and development, and I think this trio of characters can fit in that very well!

OOC : Been thinking about this all day , since I write Sonic , Shadow , Lilac , and Neera Li as being part of each other's connected worlds . Primarily , ( I wanna write shippy stuff tbh ) but Shadow dating / eventually tying the knot with Lilac , and then Sonic with Neera Li . Sonic was originally going to be with Carol but I thought it would make for a more interesting ship dynamic between them that they're not exactly made for one another but they overcome / reconcile those differences while still respecting that they both want different things out of their lives .

Shadow , and Lilac compliment one another pretty well ( as per how I write them ) which is why he ends up with her . Whereas with Sonic and Neera Li their differences are what ultimately help bring them together .

They're both headstrong , and stubborn in their own ways . Sonic is very much a free spirit , where as Neera Li is all about Law and Order . Upholding her responsibilities .

Sonic helps Neera Li better understand the feelings of freedom he enjoys by showing her more of his world , and when exploring Avalice with her . Neera Li , better helps Sonic to understand what it's like to really slow down , and appreciate the people around him , the things both big , and small that he misses by speeding by them . Living a somewhat solitary life style even if it's never really bothered him because he can visit his friends whenever he wants to even if it's not on a consistent basis .

They make compromises for one another to make it work , respect one another's positions , and help one another where / when they can . They put the work in to make one another happy . ( And this provide opportunities to get creative with how their dates work , how a family dynamic between them works , and all that stuff )

Now on to Silver . For my own headcanon , I consider Sonic , and Neera Li to be Silver's ancestors since he's from the far future . Not Shadow and Lilac . He doesn't have Sonic's signature speed due to that specific trait not being passed along to him over the generations but what he does inherit from Neera Li's genetics is that affinity for energy manipulation .

I don't consider Neera Li to be a Panda since to me her aesthetic always rang as being a Polar Bear . For me , what she uses is cryokinesis , and since energy manipulation is more prevalently used among the people of Avalice than in Sonic's world it's more likely that Sonic's kids , grandkids , great grandkids would retain more of those abilities than his .

By time the Flames of Disaster Cataclysm comes around , since Avalice and Sonic's World have been closely interconnected with one another for hundreds of years , the Flames of Iblis spread to Avalice too . Destroying both worlds . What triggered them was lost to time . This allows for Silver to be more like his canon self in that he knows of both worlds since he's of a mixed heritage like many other people from his time , but the history of their worlds went up with the flames . So as far as he's concerned , he doesn't know that Sonic and Neera Li are his ancestors . He only knows them as the heroes of their time .

He uses what power remains of the nearly drained Kingdom Stone to go back in time since in 06' 'he was never able to find the Chaos Emeralds on his own . Mephilis is the one that gave him one if my memory of the game is right . Whereas the Kingdom Stone , which would have likely changed form due to the flames of Iblis , and what the people needed of it , would have been more readily available once Iblis chased down survivors of both worlds to near extinction .
