i draw hikari and kars parallels a lot because they both want to do something that has never been done before-- only theoretically possible, or was said to be impossible. No one ever expected a vampire to become a human again. Kars' theory of the red stone was just a theory, even though he knew it was possible in his mind.
they both hold nature in high regard, both are pretty analytical when it comes to things they hold interest in. I think if hikari didn't hate his guts for creating the stone masks that lead to labrie's power, they could hold a very scintillating conversation. Fuck, they might even talk during joseph and wamuu's battle as idle chatter.
#ooc | and i won't be part of this in the end#do you think kars is jealous of her. do you think he sees her and what she's accomplished in her short mortal life.#over the course of three years.#obtaining what he's been after for millenia.#do you think hikari would taunt him about it to piss him off. to dig under his skin with a sneer. make him so fffucking angr#about | light is calling from the narrow road

Shadows in the Night
The moon hung low in the inky sky, its silvery light barely penetrating the thick canopy of clouds that blanketed the sprawling estate below. The manor house loomed large against the backdrop of darkness, its imposing silhouette a testament to the power and wealth of its occupant. Guards patrolled the perimeter with clockwork precision, their eyes scanning the shadows for any sign of intrusion.
But on this night, their vigilance would prove futile.
Like a whisper on the wind, Hikari moved through the grounds with preternatural grace. Her black attire melded seamlessly with the darkness, rendering her all but invisible to the untrained eye. Each step was calculated, each movement purposeful. She was Hikari of the Phantom Leaf, the greatest ninja of her generation, and tonight she had come to strike fear into the heart of a tyrant.
With practiced ease, Hikari scaled the wall, her fingers finding purchase where others would see only smooth stone. She vaulted over the top, landing silently on the other side. The inner courtyard stretched before her, a maze of meticulously manicured hedges and tranquil ponds. To an ordinary person, it might have seemed peaceful. To Hikari, it was a field of potential dangers.
She moved from shadow to shadow, her senses alert for any sign of detection. As she neared the main building, Hikari caught sight of two guards stationed at the entrance. Their eyes were alert, their postures rigid with attentiveness. But they were no match for her skills. With a flick of her wrist, Hikari sent two senbon needles flying through the air. They struck their targets with pinpoint accuracy, and the guards slumped to the ground, unconscious before they could raise an alarm.
Hikari slipped inside, her dark eyes scanning the opulent interior. Marble floors gleamed in the dim light, and priceless artworks adorned the walls. But she had no time to appreciate such luxuries. Her target lay ahead, in the heart of this gilded cage.
As she ascended the grand staircase, Hikari's thoughts turned to her mission. The man she sought was more than just a corrupt ruler – he was a monster who had brought suffering to countless innocents. Tonight, she would not end his life, but she would shatter the illusion of his invincibility. Fear would be her weapon, more potent than any blade.
The top floor of the manor was even more heavily guarded, but Hikari moved through their defenses like smoke through a grate. A sleeping gas here, a silent takedown there – she left a trail of unconscious bodies in her wake, never once raising an alarm.
Finally, she stood before an ornate door, its gilded surface a testament to the ego of the man who lay beyond. Hikari took a deep breath, centering herself. With silent determination, she eased the door open and slipped inside. The room beyond was dark, save for a sliver of moonlight that crept through a gap in the heavy curtains. And there, in a massive four-poster bed, lay her target – the dictator whose reign of terror was about to be challenged.
As Hikari moved towards the sleeping figure, her hand brushed against a small table, causing a delicate vase to wobble. She froze, her heart pounding, as the vase teetered on the edge for what felt like an eternity. Then, with agonizing slowness, it settled back into place.
The dictator stirred slightly but did not wake. Hikari let out a silent breath of relief, her hand instinctively moving to rest on her body. It was only then, in the faint moonlight filtering through the curtains, that the true extent of her condition became apparent. Hikari's normally lithe form was dramatically altered, her midsection swollen with the unmistakable shape of advanced pregnancy. Her black attire, designed for stealth, had concealed her condition until now, but in this moment of vulnerability, the truth was revealed.
Despite her heavily pregnant state, Hikari of the Phantom Leaf stood poised and ready, prepared to begin the next phase of her mission. The greatest challenge lay ahead, but she was undeterred. Tonight, a tyrant would learn the meaning of fear, and Hikari would prove that even in her condition, she remained the most formidable ninja of her time.
————————————-
Hikari loomed over the sleeping dictator, her presence a palpable threat in the moonlit room. With a swift motion, she pressed a razor-sharp kunai against his throat, jolting him awake. The man's eyes flew open, terror flooding his features as he realized the precariousness of his situation.
"Who... who are you?" he stammered, his voice hoarse with fear.
"I am your worst nightmare," Hikari whispered, her voice cold and steady. "I am here to show you that your power is an illusion, that your walls and guards mean nothing."
The dictator's eyes darted around frantically, searching for an escape. Hikari pressed the blade closer, drawing a thin line of blood. "Your crimes against the people will not go unpunished," she hissed. "From this day forward, you will live in fear, knowing that death can come for you at any moment."
As she spoke, Hikari felt a sharp, sudden pain in her abdomen. She managed to suppress a gasp, but couldn't entirely hide the flicker of discomfort that crossed her face. The dictator, ever observant, noticed the change in her demeanor. His eyes traveled down to her swollen belly, visible now in the dim light.
A cruel smile spread across his face as realization dawned. "Well, well," he chuckled, his fear giving way to a newfound confidence. "It seems the great assassin has a weakness after all. You're in no condition to threaten me, girl. Why don't you waddle on out of here before I call my guards? I'm sure they'd be fascinated to meet such an... interesting intruder."
Hikari gritted her teeth as another contraction hit, stronger this time. The dictator's mockery rang in her ears, fueling her determination. With lightning speed, she moved the kunai from his throat to his eye, the tip hovering mere millimeters from the cornea.
"You mistake my condition for weakness," she growled, her voice low and dangerous. "I could end your miserable life right now, baby or no baby. Your guards won't save you. Your wealth won't save you. Nothing can save you from me."
To prove her point, Hikari used her free hand to produce three senbon needles, flicking them with deadly accuracy. They embedded themselves in the wall behind the dictator's head, forming a perfect triangle around his ear. The man's bravado crumbled, replaced once again by raw fear.
"Please," he whimpered, all pretense of authority gone. "Please don't kill me. I'll do anything."
Hikari leaned in close, her voice a whisper. "Remember this moment. Remember that your life was in my hands, and I chose to spare it. But if you continue to abuse your power, to hurt the innocent, I will return. And next time, I won't be so merciful."
The dictator nodded frantically, tears streaming down his face. Hikari stepped back, satisfied that her mission was accomplished. The man before her was thoroughly broken, his illusion of invincibility shattered.
As she prepared to make her exit, another contraction hit, more intense than the last. Hikari knew she had to move quickly. With one last glare at the cowering dictator, she moved to the window, her movements still graceful despite her condition.
"Remember," she said, her voice carrying a note of finality. "I'll be watching."
With that, Hikari slipped out into the night, leaving behind a tyrant who would never again sleep soundly. As she made her way through the grounds, she allowed herself a small smile of satisfaction. Her mission was a success, and now she had an even more important task ahead – bringing new life into the world.
——————————————-
Hikari moved swiftly through the manor grounds, her ninja training allowing her to maintain stealth despite her condition. The cool night air provided some relief as she navigated the intricate maze of hedges and fountains. Freedom was close – she could see the section of wall where she had entered, now her exit point.
But as she approached her escape route, a powerful contraction hit her with unexpected force. For the first time in her career as an elite ninja, Hikari lost control. A sharp cry escaped her lips, echoing in the quiet night. She immediately clamped a hand over her mouth, eyes wide with shock at her own outburst.
Before she could recover, she felt a warm gush between her legs. Her water had broken, leaving a conspicuous puddle on the manicured lawn. Hikari's mind raced – this was a complication she hadn't prepared for.
Gritting her teeth, she forced herself to move. She had to get out now, before –
"Hey! Who's there?" a gruff voice called out. A guard, alerted by her involuntary cry, was approaching with a flashlight in hand.
Hikari melted into the shadows of a nearby topiary, her breathing shallow and controlled despite the pain. She watched as the guard discovered the puddle, his face contorting in confusion.
"What the...?" he muttered, crouching down to examine the liquid.
Hikari knew she couldn't linger. With every second, the risk of discovery increased. She began to move again, using every ounce of her training to remain silent and unseen.
But her body was betraying her. As she crept along the perimeter wall, she felt more fluid trickling down her legs. To her horror, she realized she was leaving a trail – small droplets that glistened in the moonlight, leading directly to her position.
Behind her, she could hear more guards congregating around the initial puddle. Their voices carried on the night air:
"It's not rain."
"Could be from an animal?"
"Wait – there's more over here!"
"Follow it!"
Panic threatened to overwhelm her as Hikari heard the guards beginning to follow her trail. The contractions were coming faster now, each one requiring immense willpower to stay quiet and keep moving.
She reached the spot where she had entered – a section of wall partially hidden by an old oak tree. As she prepared to scale it, another contraction hit. Hikari bit down on her lip hard enough to draw blood, suppressing another scream.
The guards were getting closer. She could hear their footsteps, see the beams of their flashlights sweeping the grounds. With a final surge of determination, Hikari began to climb.
Her fingers found familiar handholds, her feet somehow maintaining their grip despite the pain and the fluid. She reached the top of the wall just as a flashlight beam illuminated the spot where she had been standing moments before.
"The trail ends here!" a guard shouted.
"Check the other side of the wall!" another responded.
Hikari didn't wait to hear more. She lowered herself down the outer side of the wall, every movement an agony. As her feet touched the ground outside the manor, she heard the guards shouting for reinforcements.
There was no time to rest. Still leaking amniotic fluid, her body wracked with contractions, Hikari disappeared into the forest surrounding the estate. She had escaped the immediate danger, but she was far from safe. Now, she faced an even greater challenge – finding a secure location to give birth, all while evading the search parties that would soon be scouring the area.
The greatest ninja of her generation was now in a race against time, her skills pushed to their absolute limit. The night was far from over, and her most difficult trial was just beginning.
———————————
Hikari's breath came in ragged gasps as she pushed through the dense forest. The sound of pursuit grew louder behind her – the guards had picked up her trail and were closing in fast. Each contraction hit her like a tidal wave, threatening to bring her to her knees.
As she stumbled into a small clearing, Hikari realized with grim certainty that she could no longer outrun her pursuers. The contractions were too intense, too frequent. She could hear the guards crashing through the underbrush, mere moments away from discovering her.
In that instant, Hikari made a decision. She was Hikari of the Phantom Leaf, the greatest ninja of her generation. She would not be hunted down like prey.
With supreme effort, she turned to face the direction of the approaching guards. Her hands moved in a series of rapid signs, preparing a jutsu. As the first guard burst into the clearing, Hikari was ready.
"There she is!" the guard shouted, raising his weapon.
But Hikari was faster. A blast of wind chakra erupted from her palms, sending the man flying backwards into his comrades. Three more guards appeared, their faces a mix of shock and determination as they took in the sight of the heavily pregnant ninja standing defiantly before them.
"Stand down!" one of them commanded. "You can't win this fight in your condition!"
Hikari's response was a flurry of shuriken that forced the guards to dive for cover. She moved with deadly grace, her years of training allowing her to anticipate and counter every attack. A kick here, a precisely thrown kunai there – even in the throes of labor, she was a force to be reckoned with.
One guard managed to get close, swinging his sword in a wide arc. Hikari ducked under the blade, using the man's momentum against him. In one fluid motion, she redirected his swing into another guard, then dropped low to sweep his legs out from under him.
As the battle raged on, Hikari fought not just the guards, but her own body. Each contraction threatened to break her concentration, but she channeled the pain into her attacks, using it to fuel her determination.
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, the last guard fell unconscious to the forest floor. Hikari stood amid the fallen men, her chest heaving with exertion. She had won, but at a cost. The fight had accelerated her labor, and she could feel the baby coming.
With the immediate threat neutralized, Hikari scanned her surroundings. In the dim pre-dawn light, she spotted the dark mouth of a cave not far from the clearing. It would have to do.
Stumbling now, no longer trying to hide her condition, Hikari made her way to the cave. She barely made it inside before another powerful contraction brought her to her knees. Finding a relatively flat area near the back of the cave, she began to prepare for the imminent birth.
As she arranged herself as comfortably as possible on the cold stone floor, Hikari allowed herself a moment of reflection. This was not how she had envisioned bringing her child into the world, but she had survived, had protected both herself and her baby against impossible odds.
A new contraction built, more intense than any before. Hikari gritted her teeth, bracing herself for the challenge ahead. She had completed her mission and escaped her pursuers. Now, she faced the most important task of her life – bringing new life into the world.
In the quiet of the cave, far from the comforts of home but secure in her own strength and skill, Hikari prepared to meet her child. The greatest ninja of her generation was about to become a mother, and she would face this challenge as she had faced all others – with courage, determination, and an indomitable spirit.
————————-
In the dim light of the cave, Hikari faced her greatest challenge yet. The contractions came in relentless waves, each one more intense than the last. She leaned back against the cool stone wall, her hands instinctively cradling her swollen belly. In this moment of vulnerability, the true extent of her pregnancy was fully revealed – her belly was impressively large, straining against her torn ninja garb.
Hikari, who had moved through heavily guarded compounds without making a sound, now found herself unable to contain her cries. Each contraction drew from her a primal sound that echoed off the cave walls. The dichotomy wasn't lost on her – the silent assassin now filled the air with the raw, unfiltered sounds of impending motherhood.
"I can do this," she whispered to herself between contractions, drawing on the same well of strength that had carried her through countless missions.
Hours passed, blurring together in a haze of effort and determination. Hikari shifted positions frequently, trying to find some measure of comfort in the unforgiving environment. She focused on her breathing, using techniques that had once kept her calm in the face of mortal danger to now manage the pain of childbirth.
As the labor progressed, Hikari felt the baby descending, only to slip back again. It was a dance of progress and retreat, testing her patience and resolve. She widened her stance, bracing herself against the cave floor, every muscle in her body working towards bringing her child into the world.
In a moment of clarity between contractions, Hikari reflected on the irony of her situation. She had spent years honing her body into a silent, lethal weapon. Now, that same body was performing its most natural and vocal function. The juxtaposition was striking – the quietest ninja in the land, now unable to stifle her cries.
But as another powerful contraction built, Hikari realized that this too was a form of strength. To bring life into the world required as much courage and determination as any mission she had undertaken. She was still Hikari of the Phantom Leaf, still the greatest ninja of her generation. This was simply a different kind of battle.
With renewed resolve, Hikari prepared for the final stage of her labor. The greatest challenge of her life was nearing its end, and a new chapter was about to begin.
———————————
The cave echoed with Hikari's labored breathing as the contractions reached their peak intensity. Her body, honed through years of rigorous training, now trembled with exhaustion and pain. In this moment of extreme vulnerability, the walls she had built around her emotions began to crumble.
"Takeshi," she cried out, her voice raw with anguish and longing. "Takeshi, I wish you were here."
The name of her late husband, unspoken for so long, now fell from her lips like a prayer. Hikari, who had faced countless dangers without flinching, found herself yearning for the comfort of his presence. In this intimate moment of weakness, she allowed herself to feel the full weight of her loss.
"Please," she whispered, her hands cradling her swollen belly. "Please, little one, it's time to come out now."
Driven by instinct and desperation, Hikari adjusted her position, trying to find a way to ease the baby's passage. She shifted uncomfortably on the cave floor, doing her best to create more space for the child to emerge.
The pain intensified, and Hikari's pleas turned to determination. She drew upon every ounce of strength left in her body, every lesson in endurance she had ever learned. The greatest ninja of her generation now faced a challenge that required a different kind of courage.
Hours seemed to blur together, punctuated by Hikari's cries and the steady drip of water from the cave's ceiling. And then, just as the first rays of dawn began to filter into the cave's entrance, a new sound pierced the air – the lusty cry of a newborn.
Hikari gasped, her pain momentarily forgotten as she reached for her child. With trembling hands, she cradled the tiny, wriggling form against her chest. Tears streamed down her face, a mix of relief, joy, and lingering sorrow for the husband who would never meet their child.
"Hello, little one," she whispered, her voice hoarse but filled with love. "Welcome to the world."
As the newborn's cries subsided into soft whimpers, Hikari felt a profound shift within herself. She was still Hikari of the Phantom Leaf, still a formidable ninja, but now she was something more – a mother. The mission that had brought her to this cave was complete, but a new, lifelong mission had just begun.
In the quiet of the early morning, as she held her child close and listened to the gentle sounds of their breathing, Hikari made a silent vow. She would protect this new life with all the skill and dedication she had ever brought to her role as a ninja. And perhaps, in raising this child, she would find a new kind of strength – one born not of silence and shadows, but of love and sacrifice.
As the sun rose over the forest, casting a warm glow into the cave, Hikari and her newborn rested. The night of danger and pain had passed, giving way to a new day full of promise and possibility. The greatest challenge of Hikari's life had been met, and a new chapter was just beginning.

Hi. After following you for so long, I decided to give Senran Kagura a shot. The Video Game, I mean. So, I started with Burst Re:Newal
So I have to ask. How is this story so good? I get it's just Magical Ninja Girls, but how is this story so good?
Katsuragi, the lesbian pervert, has so much depth. She's an orphan who lost her parents. But not to a car accident like she thought. Her parents ran away because they were Ninja who failed a mission and had to commit sepaku. Now she seeks strength to become a leader of the light shinobi, all so she can pardon them herself.
Yomi, the destitute revolutionary, lost her parents in elementary school. They lived in the slums of Japan, unable to feed their daughter. So they sold themselves to slavery, so they could give her a better life. Instead of living lavishly, she takes her money and feeds the slums, working as a villain in the dark shinobi to do so.
I could go on and on with each character, but they're all awesome. (Except for Mirai. Wanting to slaughter your family and friends because you're a late bloomer is kinda stupid.)
And the overall morality comparison between the light shinobi vs. dark shinobi.
Light shinobi, secret warriors who work for the government of Japan and its public, accept only perfection. The only light shinobi are Elite shinobi, warriors that can take on hundreds of regular enemies. They have rigorous training, difficult testing, and high moral standards.
But this is also their downfall. For most people aren't perfect. For minor infractions, one can be excluded and banished from the ranks of the light. Which kinda makes them bad guys.
Dark shinobi, warriors who work for corporations and private entities, accept all who wish to join. For that's their saying.
"Where the light shines on the few, the darkness accepts all."
Which makes a scary amount of sense. All of these shinobi who didn't make the cut for the light, the dark accepts them wholeheartedly, flaws and all. And somehow, this makes them good guys too.
Which brings me to my ask. How does this game about Sexy Ninja Women come up with a comprehensive moral controversy that rivals mainstream media. And makes corruption arcs make sense.
Note: the scene with Hikari, the girl who lacks emotional responses, crying over the (fake) death of Mirai. It's just. Oh my. I was crying too. Like, she loves her friend enough that she just cries involuntary.
What is this game?
im glad you gave senran kagura a shot, its an incredible series that is often overlooked as just some generic ecchi! it was great reading your thoughts and it makes me want to go replay the games as its been a while although i resent you comment about mirai!. senran kagura is a whole package - the lore, the characters and their designs and animations, the style and the music is marvelous pun intended. i love the opening songs for all the games they live in my head and the anime has one of my favorite op/eds in general
youtube
i hope you play all the other games too, even the cooking rhythm game (bon appetit) is brilliant! its pretty cool that you can play the more recent games on PC these days and even peach beach splash supports VR! playing the original burst on 3ds with the slider turned to max though is an experience lol - the shinobi arts 🥵. i recommend the anime series too if you didn't check it out yet - the second season is top tier!!!
as for why the fuck this series bangs so hard its because of this genius who loves boobs and action games. this guy didnt want to just make a generic pervy game he fucked around and created a master piece. read his interviews too he is cool as shit. shinobi are cool as shit and senran kagura is just cool as shit.

@digimonadventureweek Day 6, March 6th - Favourite episode: #31 - "Raremon! Surprise Attack on Tokyo Bay"
I have once made a list of my "Top 16 favourite Digimon Adventure episodes" and no matter what I do, I always come back to this one. Not only is this one of the episodes my dad had recorded for me when I was a kid because I couldn't watch it when it first aired on TV, but it also basically contains everything that I love about Digimon Adventure as a whole. It also justifies a lot of my biases and headcanons in the process, but that's just a side note.
This is the closest we've ever gotten to a "slice of life" anime that includes the original cast, as it contains several of its typical elements while focusing on and mirroring primarily Taichi's and Koushirou's experiences on their first evening back home in the real world. I could have taken approximately 100 screenshots of it, because the storytelling and pacing are just so marvelous to me:
Even though it definitely IS a slice-of-life-ish episode, it doesn't lose the main plot at all, but intertwines it perfectly into the story: The kids are looking for the eighth child and Taichi, rightfully, suspects Hikari, since she had been with him during the Hikarigaoka incident. Thus he and Koromon ask her if she owns a Digivice already, which she denies. The viewer can tell that she does own one, it was just stolen and played with by their housecat Meeko/Miko - and she is the reason we're gonna get an action-packed chase scene later down the line of the episode...
Then there's the secondary plot - I refuse to call it B plot, because it is so in the forefront of everything that happens. As mentioned, it's all about Taichi and Koushirou reuniting with their families and trying their best to hide their Digimon from them. They're both having rather warm, heartfelt and happy moments that feel light-hearted (and even a bit comedic) on surface level. The difference here is that Koushirou's personal backstory is also given more space to bloom; while both Taichi's mother, Yuuko, and Koushirou's mother, Kae, sense that something about their sons is off, the latter seems to be ridden by melancholy and guilt about it. Koushirou has been acting nothing but polite and grateful towards her, but she feels like this is not how he should be like, that he is hiding something - which, as her husband, Masami, puts it, "is nothing we can blame him for, since we're hiding something from him as well".
It's the first time the viewer actually hears that Koushirou was adopted - we have seen him having flashbacks and getting somewhat distraught and sad about something, but we didn't know what it was. One can tell that he means it when he tells his mother that he's grateful - we see it when he keeps smiling happily to Tentomon about everything -, but there is that barrier. He IS hiding something from them - and we know it's not just Tentomon, even if that is perfectly mirrored with Taichi hiding Koromon as well -, but she cannot grasp what it is. And he is burdening himself with it, everything: Caring for and hiding his partner, sneaking out of his room to deal with a rampaging Digimon in the middle of the night while (potentially) chasing the eighth child around town - on his own, because the others are already fast asleep -, having a one-on-one fight with an evil Digimon and almost gets impaled, while also trying to reassure his parents that everything is alright. A lot to bear for a 10-year-old, huh...
And why was he prompted to act in the first place? Not only because he was notified of Raremon being a threat, but also because the Yagami cat went on a stroll with the eighth child's Digivice and lost it several times over.
This episode simply has it all: It has a sense of happiness and peacefulness, it has comedic elements, it has a suspenseful fight and chase scene; the main plot and character development are perfectly intertwined and even though there is so much going on, it doesn't feel rushed, bloated or like anything shouldn't be there. The characters are pretty unreliable narrators while the viewer can see everything that happens - nothing gets resolved in this episode, it consists of a repeated "Almost!", but that is fine, because it contextualizes everything that will happen from now on.
It also tells us so much about the Yagami and Izumi family dynamics, including the fact that the mothers are very familiar with the fact that their sons are close friends who call each other at very odd times...
The adoption topic is rather heavy, not downplayed and presented in a light that makes you hope that all of this will eventually resolve.
It's just very dear to my heart and I would absolutely love a whole anime that deals with all of the kids and their backstories similarly, giving them all temporary main-character status.

A/N: Chose the names for the kids completely random, also I was a horrible teenager and I still feel bad what my poor parents had to go through with me. Also, the Spanish translations are from my male best friend whose mother tongue is Spanish, I am sorry if it’s not correct, I’ll kick his ass if something is wrong 😂
TW: period blood
Tōru Oikawa is many things.
King of the court, former national Argentinian Setter, husband of a beautiful successful, confident woman he calls the love of his life and father of three children.
Now as a retired athlete, the former Setter trains all sorts of volleyball clubs in San Juan. From little kids trying out Volleyball for the first time to High Schoolers and even College students trying to go pro.
All these years, you raised the children mostly while your husband played volleyball professionally until he couldn’t do it anymore physically. With coming age, every athlete reaches their breaking point sometime.
Now working your dream job as a novel publisher about a romance novel you recently published, you’re in the United States, traveling and doing interviews about it.
The two of you always wanted a family.
After Tōru did the try outs and made it on Argentinian team, the the two of you celebrated with a lot of alcohol and passionate kisses and just like that, your first child was born 9 months later.
Just by the age of 22, Tōru is a father of a beautiful girl named Sofia, she was born in the bright early morning light in December.
As first time parents, there were ups and downs but you both pulled it through as a team.
During the years, you and Tōru brought two more lives into this world, one girl and one boy. Hikari and Thiago.
Sofia is now 13 years old, which means she is a teenager now. Hikari is 10, while Thiago, the youngest, is 7 years old.
Thiago does not always has it easy with two older sisters, especially since Sofia has had incredibly bad mood swings that she occasionally lets out on her siblings, causing fights to break out that the poor former retired pro Volleyball player has to break up lots of times.
Unfortunately the former Setter’s wife is out of the country for interviews and signing her books, leaving the man to run the household by himself.
During years of intensive training, raising three children, nothing could have prepared the brunette for this.
Puberty.
On Saturday morning, Tōru prepared breakfast for his kids when Sofia came out of her room with an annoyed expression.
No.
Pissed expression.
She sits down at the table without greeting her family and just begins to tear apart the waffles without eating them.
"What’s wrong with you?" Hikari asks in a curious voice.
"What’s wrong with your face." Sofia’s voice is full of venom, like her sister took away her iPod again without asking her first.
"Hey! Ya basta." Tōru scolds her with a frowned expression.
Sofia’s mean demeanor drops a little bit but the anger on her face still remains. She definitely inherited your angry expression that Tōru is still terrified of.
Thiago is just munching on his Lucky Charms cereal, ignoring his sisters’ antics like always.
While both daughters inherited your looks, Thiago looks like a solid copy of his father. The same hair, the same eyes, the same face.
When the Setter cleans up the mess from the cooking, an idea pops up in his head. Something he hasn’t done with his kids in quite a while due to their school activities and homework.
"Hey kids, how about we play some volleyball in the garden later on? We haven’t done that in a while." Tōru suggests.
The two younger Oikawas brighten up with excitement, whereas the oldest one barely reacts.
"Go got ready after breakfast, I'll clean everything up and Thiago, go get the volleyball in mum’s closet." Tōru tells his kids, a huge smile breaking out on his face when his youngest one quickly chows down the rest of his food before running upstairs to get dressed and fetch the volleyball out of his parents’ closet.
Hikari also finishes, setting her plate in the dish washer before going to her room as well, getting ready to play volleyball with her brother and her father.
Tōru looks at his daughter and she pushes her plate away, leaving the table without another word.
"Sofia, you know you can talk to me. Qué te preocupa?" The brunette calls out to her.
She doesn’t reply, just keeps on walking and closes the bathroom door with a slight slam.
With a deep sigh, Tōru finishes cleaning up, wishing his wife was here to help him figure his teenage daughter out.
All of sudden, he hears Hikari and Thiago running down the stairs, this time in sports attire instead of their pajamas.
Making a run for it, Hikari trips Thiago to be the first to arrive in the garden of the house.
With his face landing on the hardwood floor, he groans out loudly in pain before getting up and yelling after his sister.
Rubbing his temple in annoyance, Tōru makes his way to the bathroom to try and get his eldest daughter out to join the family fun.
Knocking gently on the door, the father begins to talk.
"Sofia? You okay?"
"Go away, dad!" She yells out behind the door and it sounds like she is scared but also deeply upset.
"Preciosa, what’s wrong? You okay?" He begins to get worried.
"It’s nothing, I just… I-I need mum for this." Sofia sounds embarrassed as she says it out loud.
Tōru pouts a little bit at that, his little girl choosing you over him.
"Maybe I can help you." The father offers.
"No! You can’t! Gosh, this is so embarrassing!" She shouts in reply.
Now Tōru is starting to freak out a little bit.
"Sofia, tell me what’s wrong or I will knock down this door, I am not kidding!"
No reply.
"There’s… there’s blood… in…my…" She stutters.
Pressing his ear against the door, he tries to listen what she is trying to say.
"Blood in your what?!" Tōru asks frantically.
Now both Oikawas are freaking out.
"I GOT MY PERIOD, YOU HAPPY?!" She finally snaps and yells.
It seems like time has stopped for Tōru Oikawa.
Why, why?!
Out of all the times, it happens now?! When you’re gone and he has to deal with it by himself?
'Deep breaths, Tōru. You can do this.'
"Nena, please open the door. I’ll try to help you in any way I can."
"You can’t! I read online that I need something called a pad or a tampon. Do we have any of that here?"
Tōru knows whenever you’re having your period, you keep your feminine products on top of the med cabinet, out of reach from prying eyes.
Hikari and Thiago return inside the house after a while, confused why their father hasn’t come outside to play yet.
"What’s going on with Sofia? Is she sick?" Thiago worriedly asks.
Hikari appears as well, more annoyed than worried like her little brother.
"Sofia, if you die, can I have your laptop?" She teases.
"No! When I get out of here, you’re done for, you little shrimp!" Sofia snaps back.
"Oy! No one is killing anyone! I will be right there, just leave your pa and your sister for a bit okay? I promise I will be there."
Tōru interferes, before Thiago becomes an only child, more likely foster child, since his wife will kill him as well.
Hikari and Thiago make their way outside again, with Thiago jumping on his sister’s back like a warhorse.
They both scream as they head outside again, while Tōru only shakes his head at their silliness.
"Mijita, check the top of the med cabinet."
"What? Why?" Sofia asks perplexed.
"You’ll find what you’re searching for."
After a few minutes of rustling and hearing movement, the father hears the rustling of plastic and the uncertainty in his daughter’s voice as she describes the products.
"You found everything?"
"Yes, thank you, pa…"
"De nada, linda. I’ll explain from the door how to use it."
Tōru does not move from the door, explains to his daughter step by step how to use the different kind of feminine hygiene products, also offering to buy her favorite candies and food tomorrow and even if Tōru can’t see it, Sofia has tears in her eyes, appreciating her father’s supportive nature so much.
When you return from your trip, Tōru is watching a volleyball game between England and France, eyes captivated by the screen.
He is sipping on a beer can, eyes on the tv, switching between cursing and cheering for the teams.
Entering through the entrance door, you spot the love of your life immediately.
"I haven’t seen you drink a beer since high school. Any special occasion?" You grin as you hug your husband from behind, your arms wrapped around his neck.
Pressing a chaste kiss against his temple, your brunette husband chuckles and intertwines one of your hands with his.
"Bienvenido de vuelta, ¿Cómo fue tu viaje?" Tōru asks while briefly looking at you over his shoulder.
"Amazing! The people are very nice and I was busy every single day. How was home?" You ask in return.
"Puro pánico y discusión entre hermanos." Your husband sighs while taking another sip of his beer.
"What do you mean?" You say in a very concerned voice, already bracing for the worst.
"Your daughter had a mental breakdown over her first period today."
"MY daughter?! She’s your daughter too, marido."
"ANYWAY, your amazing marido handled it, amore. They are all asleep, Sofia and I had a long and big talk, you don’t need to worry your pretty little head about anything else."
You smile brightly at him, remembering you have a little souvenir gift for him.
Quietly unzipping your suitcase, you change into the surprise you have for your husband.
"Tōru?" You quietly call out to him, leaning against the entry way of the living room, doing a sexy pose of the new black Victoria’s Secret lingerie you got from the States.
"Hm?" Looking over his shoulder once more, the brunette’s eyes almost pop out of their sockets, choking on the sip of beer he took, while taking your figure in.
"Ven y cógelo, mi capitán." You say in a seductive voice, walking towards the direction of your bed.
Jumping over the couch, the Setter follows you into your shared bedroom, full of excitement and horniness for his precious wife.
Translations:

A Deluge of Feelings
Words: 1401 CW: None | SFW Tags: Fluff, Non-Sexual Nudity, Google Translate French, Spoilers for Comte's name, Minor Characters from Comte's Route Prompt: Comte + Rain Pairing: Comte de Saint-Germain / Reader
Note: Absolutely no worries Hikari! There's a first time for everything 😊 Glad to have another Comte enjoyer here! He's my favorite suitor!
I had several other ideas for this fic that I ended up stashing away for a rainy day (pun fully intended). I really do love Comte. ♥
Also posted on AO3 here.
When you left for the ball earlier this evening, the sky had been clear; nary a cloud in sight. The sun had been near setting when you had climbed into the carriage, its rays painting the evening sky with gorgeous shades of peach and orange. You made a mental note to ask Vincent - or Leonardo, if he felt productive - to try to paint a nineteenth-century Paris sunset for you one of these days.
So when you heard the telltale rumbles of thunder in the distance soon after arriving, it caught you - and your partner - by surprise. You had been talking to your friend, a nobleman's daughter by the name of Claudine, when the manor's windows rattled from the shockwave. Rain began to fall in light droplets, a soft pitter-patter cascading against the roof. Your partner, the ever-elegant Comte de Saint-Germain, quickly made his way to your side.
"Claudine, it's always a pleasure to see you," he greeted the other girl amicably. She curtsied and addressed him in kind, before excusing herself with a cheeky grin in your direction. Your response was a not-so-ladylike roll of the eyes, your own attention returning to the nobleman by your side.
Le Comte watched her walk off, his brow furrowed. The way girls behaved was still a mystery to him, even after God knows how many centuries of life. He would always be doomed to wonder in this regard, he supposed. Some things weren't meant to be understood.
Returning to the matter at hand, Comte placed a large hand on your back and drew you close, kissing your temple and murmuring into your ear. "We should try to get home before it gets any worse, Ma Chérie. I don't want to stay out and risk you catching cold or us getting stuck in town."
He swiftly guided you towards the doors of the manor house to call for your carriage. The rain, however, had other ideas. As you neared the door the soft droplets turned into a torrential downpour; sheets of rain fell from the sky like gauzy curtains, obscuring all but the brightest of lights. Water ran in dark, snaking rivulets across the cobblestone paths,
The pureblooded vampire exchanged a quick word with the coachman by the door. The watery onslaught was so deafening you were unable to make out much of what they were saying, but you assumed it had something to do with the carriages.
After a moment, your hypothesis was confirmed. Comte turned to you, an apologetic smile on his face.
"We won't be able to take a carriage back to the mansion in this weather, between the flooding and the low visibility. The coachman isn't certain they'd even be able to make it to the city's residential district with how bad it is," he said, kissing your forehead. "For now, we should just try to enjoy ourselves for a bit longer and hope the rain passes by."
The two of you returned inside, le Comte remaining by your side this time. He continued to greet the other nobles who approached the two of you, his hand secure on your hip. You stood by him, a placid smile on your face as you played the part of a nobleman’s partner.
Soon, you found yourselves dancing together on the ballroom floor, enjoying each other’s company as you waited for the storm to subside. Unfortunately, it seemed as though there was no end in sight. The rain continued to pour, quickly dashing any hopes you had had of returning home tonight. Normally this situation would bring you stress, but you found the thought of being stranded in town for the night didn’t bother you that much. You were with Comte, and you knew that he would stop at nothing to keep you safe.
Le Comte checked his pocket watch, a graceful frown marring his face. It had gotten quite late already, and with no sign of the rain letting up, your choices were dwindling. At your questioning glance, he smiled reassuringly.
“These things happen. We can predict the weather, but we can’t ever be fully certain how it’s going to be. It’s no matter,” Comte spoke, lovingly brushing a stray hair out of your face. “We will just have to brave the weather and head for a nearby inn, I’m afraid.”
Before you could speak up, you were interrupted by a familiar, loud voice.
“Ah, Comte de Saint-Germain,” he said. You immediately recognized this as the Duke de Guermantes, Comte’s friend and Claudine’s father. He smiled at you, greeting you as well.
You knew the Duke de Guermantes rather well, all things considered; he was the father of one of your only female friends in this time period, as well as a friend of Comte’s.
“Monsieur le Duc,” you replied in kind with a curtsy.
He turned back to le Comte with a friendly smile. “I see the two of you are stuck in town for the evening, non? The carriages won’t run in this weather.”
“I’m afraid you’re correct,” Comte agreed with resignation. “We had hoped the rain would let up long enough for us to return home, but I suppose le des intempéries had other plans.” He smiled amiably. “We were going to brave the outdoors soon and go to one of the inns nearby for the evening.”
The Duke de Guermantes shook his head dramatically. “I think not! I would make quite the poor host to force one of my dearest friends and his partner leave the safety and comfort of my home in un orage. Non, you shall stay here for the night.”
Le Comte’s features were painted in surprise. “Are you certain? I would hate for us to impose on such short notice.”
“Nonsense,” the Duke waved him off. “I shall not hear of it. You could never impose.”
“Merci beaucoup,” Comte said. “We are very grateful for your hospitality.”
Soon, you were both shown to a guest room in the Duke’s manor. Rain still beat against the windows, drowning out any other sounds.
Comte stepped up behind you, his hands deftly picking out several of the pins holding your hair up. As your hair came loose of its confines, his fingers gently combed through the strands. You sighed into his touch.
Comte’s hands slid down to your shoulders and he kissed the top of your head.
“Je t’aime,” he murmured, turning you around in his arms and brushing a hand against your cheek. “I am sorry we could not make it home tonight, Ma Chérie.”
You smiled back at him, leaning into his palm. “It’s alright, Abel. I’m happy to go anywhere so long as it’s with you.”
Le Comte’s golden eyes were filled with an indescribable deep emotion in response to your words. His hand drifted to your chin and tilted it up, his lips crashing into yours for a hungry kiss. He soon broke away from you, grimacing in discomfort.
You frowned, your hand cupping his cheek. “What is it, Abel?”
He just shook his head in response and took your hand in his, pulling it from his face. Your eyes widened in understanding.
“When did you last eat?” You murmured.
His eyes drifted to yours and he smiled knowingly. “I’m not hungry,” he murmured. “Not for anything but you, at least.”
Your cheeks flushed, but your frown deepened. You went to step away but his other hand came to grasp your waist and hold you there.
“It will pass, as it always does,” he assured you. “Un moment, s’il vous plait.”
You turned back around and began to unlace your dress. You were surprised when his fingers joined yours almost immediately, assisting you in shedding the garment. His fingers lightly skimmed over the skin that was now laid bare before him.
“You are beautiful, Ma Chérie. I still find it hard to believe that in the endless sea of eternity, I found you.” He kissed your bare shoulder. “However much I should like to ravish you this evening, I fear we must get to bed,” Comte sighed. “We still have to head back home in the morning and I think we should not abuse le Duc’s hospitality.”
With a pout, you agreed and crawled into bed with him, nestling against his warmth comfortably. He kissed your forehead. “Bonne nuit, mon amour,” Le Comte whispered. “Je t'aime, maintenant et pour toujours.”

"Okay, hold on, Hikari-chan," Oikawa says. Once she grips onto the handles, he places his hands on her back and sends her off. Sugawara watches, amused, absentmindedly swinging himself along with her. He gasps when he feels a warm hand on his lower back, resting there for a moment before giving him a tender push. They fall into a peaceful rhythm after that. Hikari babbles about her life—school, the shows she likes, her friends, practically everything under the sun—while they listen. Occasionally, Sugawara will feel Oikawa's touch lingering whenever he gives him another push, and he pretends his heart doesn't skip a beat every time. - or, an accidental encounter with a lost child leads to unexpected feelings, tension-filled volleyball games, and lots of teasing

Can we all collectively agree Mephisto is Hikaru's song at this point?
Ai's compared him to a jewel, (星は宝石の憧れ)<Star(Hoshi)s are what Jewels long for
He says Ai's the girl he was willing to sacrifice his life for (CH154) わたしが命を賭けるから あげるから< I'll risk my life, I'll give it to you)
He was gaslit into believing he's empty and no one would ever love him (CH 146) 生まれつきだってば底なし<I told you, I was born of the abyss
These whole set of lyrics RIGHT here:
あなたに命が戻るなら 届くなら わたしはどうなろうと構わないのに どうやら総ては叶わない 叶わないならばあなたになりたい 星は砕け光る<"Hoshi wa kudake hikaru" has both their names in it
If life returns to you, if it reaches you I don't care what happens to me But not every wish will be fulfilled And if that's not realized I shall become you The stars shatter and shine
and with that settled, I think he wants to become "a star" like Ai because he's a "jewel". Jewels belong on the land, Stars are from the sky:
If him and her are really characters that are inspired by the gods, The one he's supposed to be inspired by is an EARTHLY GOD(Kunitsukami 国津神) while she's the SKY GOD(Amatsukami 天津神). Makes sense that he CAN'T reach her on his own where he is. Even that's fitting to the plot.
The god thing seems bizarre, I know, but this song has lyrics like:
誰と生きたか思い出して<Remember who you lived along with 誰を生きたか忘れちゃった!<I've forgotten who I lived as!
and these are some intriguing lyrics. It's as if he was a different kind of being in the past that's forgotten who he's lived with.
And these too:
らくになる日はまず来ない<Days of ease won't likely come 日々のなかに集まる悲しい光< Gathered within the days, a sad light
GATHERING "LIGHTS". His name is Hikaru Kamiki, if stars=gods in this universe, he's collecting the light(hikari/u) to become a god(kami) himself like Ai.
So that's what he means by "And if that's not realized, I shall become you." He wants to become like her and it IS said that she's become a star(CH118) it wasn't just a metaphor but, it's really what's happened in a literal sense.
I've already mentioned these a few times!! I'm sorry, but I can't help it. I'm listening to Mephisto again and I can't unhear this at all.
Everything that's described in the song must be what he's been striving for, only to be backed up and further enhanced by what's being said in Fatal. What the speaker's doing in both songs is essentially the same thing. The first and foremost goal that he'd had was to give Ai her life back, but that seems to have been in vain as seen from Mephisto's lyrics. He then really wants to get to where she is and see her again if that's possible. These songs display Hikaru's motive he's had behind the scenes. (I've talked a lot about Fatal like a whole lot, yeah, uh huh and these links aren't all, I'm crazy about that song) and I'm so sure that song's about him. It's what's got me to get down and draw stuff!! I am so sure. I won't discuss so much about that song this time)
but he gave all that up after having learned Ai doesn't want him to be lost. She never would have wanted him to die or do something reckless that'd destroy his life/kill him in the process. If she's like that about him, he must treasure what he has left of it. I believe that's why he stopped. He wanted to keep to her words...
It all makes sense that way... but will this ever be discussed in the plot if it is how it is? Because I need it to be there if it is! It gets to me whenever I listen to those two songs. I need explanations and plot development and it should, right? These are such powerful songs... I think they're spoilers to the plot along with IDOL, which has to do with the entire plot of onk(I still think there's something that's going to be the final blow/plot point left regarding that song. I feel like that song's implying how the ending's going to be)
Songs are really great, aren't they! I have so much fun listening to those and as for this fandom, it seems to be implying a whole lot of things.

Fic For Odaiba Day 2024: You Need A Promotion, I Want A Shake Up, So Let's Get Married!
Hello everyone! Happy Odaiba Day! 25 years of Digimon! It's incredible to think about! I'm so happy I've gotten back into this show and this fandom because it's been so wonderful!
I know it's not Odaiba Day in America but it IS Odaiba Day in Japan so I'm going to post the FIRST of my two fics I'm osting for Odaiba Day!
Title: You Need A Promotion, I Want A Shake Up, So Let's Get Married! Summary: A newly 30 Mimi Tachikawa has it all: great friends, her dream career, and tons of fans, but she's missing one thing: a relationship she isn't allowed to have because of an overbearing manager.
Jou Kido is living a simple life: he goes to work at his father's hospital, he comes home, he goes to sleep and does it again. However, pressure from his father has him needing to live up to his lofty expectations to one day secure a promotion that will make all of the work he's done in his life worth it.
When the two of them get in touch after so many years and learn of each other's struggles, they decide on the obvious solution: pretend they're married. Big thanks to Camp Digimonth and zuz-senpai for all the support and excitement for this fic! I'm so happy to have this first chapter out and I hope you all enjoy! I'll post a blurb here under the read more, but you can view the fic on AO3 HERE!
Bright lights shined in her face, which a make up artist was currently patting foundation on. Mimi Tachikawa sat in a chair, curlers in her hair, phone held gingerly in her nicely manicured hands, and she tapped through it and looked through her contacts..
In three days it would be her thirtieth birthday, and she couldn’t be more excited. She was excited to reach a new milestone in her life— not that turning thirty was a particularly big one, anyways— and more than that, she was getting the finishing touches set up for her big birthday party. She rented out a fancy Italian restaurant at one of the nicest hotels in the area, one that had a beautiful view of the bay, and a bunch of her friends would be there to celebrate with her. Though the invites she sent out already were for fellow models who she worked with and became friends with since her late teens and early twenties, an old photo popping up on her phone reminded her of another group of friends she needed to invite. She tried to keep it small at first, but, well, she was Mimi! How could she keep an event like this small when she had so many friends? Especially friends.
And though she hadn’t had a chance to spend as much time with them as she wanted to for years, they were old friends and classmates who meant the world to her: Yagami Taichi, Ishida Yamato, Takenouchi Sora, Izumi Koushiro, Kido Jou, Takaishi Takeru, Yagami Hikari, Motomiya Daisuke, Inoue Miyako, Hida Iori, and Ichijouji Ken.
Twelve extra people was going to be a big ask considering she already had, what, twenty some other people going? But she couldn’t leave them out. It had been a long time since she sat down with most of them, but they were still all friends to some degree.
“Tachikawa-san? I need to apply your lipstick real quick,” the young woman who was doing her makeup told her. Mimi’s eyes flicked up to her and she smiled.
“Of course! What color?” she asked.
“It’s this,” the girl said, holding up a lipstick tube that was colored a beautiful, deep, rich burgundy.
“Oooh, that looks great! Go ahead!”
Mimi puckered her lips, and as the make-up artist started to apply the first coat, she glanced back down at her phone, adding each of them to a group chat. Once the makeup artist finished the first coat of lipstick, Mimi started rapidly firing off messages.
[Tachikawa Mimi]: Hey everyone! It’s Mimi!
[Tachikawa Mimi]: I’m having my 30th bday in a few days! And you’re all invited!
[Tachikawa Mimi]: Sorry for it being so late notice! I’ll send you all the time and location!
She sent the RSVP from her calendar, unable to stop from feeling giddy, practically bouncing in her seat. Her phone immediately buzzed like wild, and she couldn’t wait to check on it after the shoot.
The girl finished the second coat of lipstick, and Mimi looked at herself in the mirror as she then removed the curlers, letting her hair fall down in loose curls and waves.
“Is hair and makeup done?” a man’s voice called from the other end of the room.
“Yup!” the make up artist chirped back. Mimi popped up from the chair. She gave herself a once over, turning to one side, then the other, to appreciate the midnight blue evening gown she had on. Combined with the lipstick and her honey brown hair, she looked like a real stunner, if she said so herself.
“This looks great! You did an incredible job! Thank you so much,” she beamed, before heading over to the set.

YES! Digimon Adventure 02, my favorite *starts rubbing hand together* i'm going to be so obnoxious.
Anyway since you're done with Adventure could you rank the Chosen Children up to now? I'm really interested in hearing your thoughts.
Let's see. Chosen Children from Most Favorite to Least Favorite, since I don't actually have any I dislike.
1 - Tachikawa Mimi. I'm sure there are no surprises about that one. Mimi's job is to be the relatable everykid. The one who acts the most like what an actual real-life ten-year-old thrown into this situation would act like. She cries, she screams, she wants to go home.
But she still pulls it together and has a lot to contribute all the same.
All of the kids do a great job of being relatable, honestly. But Mimi has the most interesting journey to me,
2 - Kido "Joe" Jou. You know, as a kid, I adored Yamato so much. He would have been my #2. But as an adult, I can't help but appreciate how hard Jou-senpai worked at the mostly thankless job of trying to be responsible for these kids.
He's just as scared and confused and lost as they are, and in the beginning the burden of responsibility weighs so heavily on him that it nearly breaks him. But he rises to the challenge. Even after they decide Taichi is officially team leader, Jou is always looking out for them, always trying to guide them as their senpai nonetheless.
Jou giving his life to save Takeru is my favorite Crest activation of the lot.
3 - Ishida "Matt" Yamato. He's still up there, just not as high as Jou. Yamato is the most damaged of the Chosen Children at the start, though it may not be immediately obvious. He comes into the series with more baggage than anyone. He's already carrying his parents' divorce on his back and emotionally spiraling down a defensive rabbit-hole before we even know his name.
Yamato isn't capable of being a selfish person, and that much is on display left and right. His kneejerk reactions are almost always for the betterment of the group. He can't help himself but to care about everyone else. But he's so messed up that he thinks that's a character flaw. Who he is and who he wants to be are miles apart, and who he wants to be kinda sucks so that's a good thing.
4 - Takenouchi Sora. Sora's carrying some damage on her heart as well. She's similar to Yamato, in that there's a stark disconnect in her character. Not who she is vs. who she wants to be, but rather who she is vs. who she thinks she has to be.
I love how much attention her dynamic with her mom gets in the Vamdemon arc. Sora has the most interesting and dramatic home situation out of any of the kids.
But it does feel like the show starts to de-emphasize her over time, particularly in the Dark Masters arc where Sora routinely has to be protected or saved and rarely gets to be the one who looks cool. Whether she's propping up Takeru, Hikari, or Yamato, Sora often ends up taking a backseat as the series draws closer to its conclusion.
5 - Takaishi "T.K." Takeru. I didn't actually like T.K. as a kid. He just seemed like an annoying little kid. But that's because of the dub downplaying his growth and his strength. Ironically, Takeru is probably the one of the original seven who already has his shit together the most from the start.
He's innocent, naive, and abhors violence, but he's not a helpless baby either. Takeru is resourceful, strong-willed, and contributes as much as anyone to the children's survival. Which is, itself, a key factor in Yamato's arc as much as his own.
6 - Yagami "Kari" Hikari. Hikari suffers tremendously from entering the series so late. She has very limited opportunities to shine, something that 02 will help her with.
She makes good use of what she gets and has a lot of great moments nonetheless. Granted, she's a little bit deus ex machina-ey, but she's literally the Light of the Eight Gods so we can forgive her for that.
7 - Izumi "Izzy" Koushiro. He made my kid cry.
No, I jest. Koushiro's in a rough spot where, as the computer nerd of the group in the Digital World, he has to try and walk a tightrope between "Koushiro OP plz nerf" and "It feels like Koushiro should be doing more."
It's not a tightrope he walks easily. He gets off to an interesting start as he's building out his understanding of the Digital World. But that kinda reaches a head at Etemon's pyramid and after that he just starts leaning on stuff Gennai gives him.
Once the setting is well-established, we don't get to see him do cool things like writing a program that will display a holographic map of Etemon's pyramid in physical space anymore. Gennai gives him all of his tools going forward and he just... sorta becomes the Pokedex.
8 - Yagami Taichi. He yelled at my kid for grieving dead friends.
That's less of a jest. More generally, Taichi has a lot of good points. He's the one who keeps his eye on the ball during the Dark Masters arc and keeps pushing forward while Mimi, Jou, and Yamato are having their respective crises. He's usually the guy you want to lean on in a crisis.
But wow, can Taichi be insufferable at times pre-development. He's reckless, self-centered, occasionally sexist, and utterly insensitive to the thoughts and feelings of others.
Taichi is a wild card. You never really know if you're gonna get "gets everyone caught by Etemon because he thought it'd be funny to cause trouble" Taichi or "pulls this team back together after they split up" Taichi.
Though meeting Homeostasis near the end and hearing the background of their adventure seems to do wonders for Taichi putting all of this to rest and becoming an emotionally stronger leader.

Happy Halloween!! This year I bring a Monster High Crossover <3
don't forget your daily click here are my art permissions buy me a ko-fi commission me!!
More information on why they are the monster they are/ additional design choices:
Yoshiki: Luna Moth Monster
I chose this specific species of moth for Yoshiki because of two reasons: Hikaru's name contains the symbol光 (忌堂光) - "hikari" in romaji, meaning light - making the possible translation of HGSN "The Summer The Light Died", which i'm taking to interpret Yoshiki's 'light' in his life being snuffed out. Moths go towards the light - they orient themselves using light, much like Yoshiki's life orients around 'Hikaru'. The second reason is that Luna Moths have the spiritual symbolism of "New Beginnings", and Yoshiki and 'Hikaru's' relationship is a new beginning for the both of them, whether Yoshiki likes it or not. I also took some inspiration from the "death's head moth" - which often symbolise a strong connection to the spirit world... and also "death's head"... a skull, that I added in the design
'Hikaru': Kasa-Obake
An Obake is a thing that changes. A shapeshifting creature, but can also mean a ghost of a deceased human being. The symbolism here is obvious lol.

iirc Hikari is the Japanese name for the Sinnoh game female protag. The fem Protag for the first BW is Touko (Hilda in English).
(also, imagine how cute it would be to have a ferris wheel date with Lilia)
[about this post; which talks about lines from this post]
Hello Anonie 💞🌺💚
Thank you for correcting me. Omg, Touko, her name brings back so many memories. I love it. I remember searching all the various names of hers to find all the shipping fics. Ahhh memories 💞💞
Anonie, Anonie, I’m shaking you. Do you know that Lilia has been slowly turning like a Ferris Wheel in my head all day?? A Ferris wheel date with Lilia 💞💞 You and Nessy ( @masquerade-of-misery) have me just walking around the room thinking about Ferris Wheel dates ahhhhhh (thank you 💞💚).
“Wise men say
Only fools rush in
But I can’t help falling in love with you.”
Lilia had believed after living so long, he learned everything there was to learn, but how wrong he was.
He never took into account what you would bring to his life, all the new paths that would be open.
You had wanted to ride the ferris wheel, and would he ever deny you?
He watched you as you took in the sight down below, amazed at the lights and the beautiful scenery around. The glow in your eyes showing how happy you were.
His eyes stayed fixated on you. He wondered what he could do to get you to look at him in such a way. He was a greedy fae after all.
Then a thought occurred to him, causing a smile to appear on his face. He can already picture your reaction.
Love makes you do the wildest things, and you were probably used to his antics by now.
Lilia got up and opened the door to the cart, hearing you gasp and call out his name.
He turned around and faced you, raising his hand.
“You wanted to see the sight from above, didn’t you? Take my hand dearest, I’ll show you something no one else can beat.”
You stare at him in surprise before grabbing his hand.
Lilia pulled you close to him and jumped.
The sounds of both of your laughters resonated in the air.
Ah, there was the look he wanted directed towards him. For him and only him.
“Take my hand
Take my whole life too
For I can’t help falling in love with you.”
This song and this scene has been stuck in my head all day 🥹💚🫶 I have been humming this song all day. 💞💞

thank you scalpho for tagging me in wip wednesday!! apologies it took so long, but i appreciate it very much 🫶 i also have no idea how to do these bwehaha
here is a sneak preview of the "deliver us from evil" prologue!
The sunrise is beautiful. Somber darkness bleeds through to reveal a mellow orange in the skies above. The frosted mountains peer down upon the sleeping city nestled in its valley. Its presence blends this newfound light with a gentle blue hue, finally bringing life to these muted layers of snow. How peaceful it seems. Each role is fulfilled with such grace, nearly untouched by human turmoil. The morning wind bites. Its teeth fiercely graze Kai’s cheeks. Every inhale aggravates his scarred throat, still sorely scraping against his lungs after sprinting to the Chidouin residence. Tending to the family within had allowed him a brief reprieve, but standing in the crisp air again lights the tender wicks aflame. Once the door behind him opens, a familiar stride hits the wooden patio and echoes through the hollow floor beneath—for as deliberate as it appears, Kai notes a slight weight upon the right leg. A hand suddenly meets his shoulder, and only then does he glance beside himself. Master Chidouin settles at his left side, finally resting his briefcase before the stairs. With his hand free, Hikari pulls out a cigarette pack and takes one for himself, offering another for his assistant. Shaking his head, Kai instead asks: “Is Atsuko ready?” “Just about,” and the words scarcely leave his lips when he ignites the lighter. “She’ll be alright,” Kai promises, tentatively raising his hand to rest upon his elder’s—firmly clasped upon his shoulder, as though he fears to lose his support. Ever slightly, Kai inclines his head Hikari’s direction. “In a half hour alone, she has regained her strength.” Hikari exhales, letting the smoke trail off in a bitter whisper. The acrid taste stings Kai’s tongue, though he quickly suppresses the rising cough. It disperses into the cold dawn, its source clear as the day to come: this is the second seizure Atsuko has had within four days, meaning they cannot hold off on their intended appointment with Asunaro any longer. It is only natural for Hikari to rely on this habit more than before, even if it betrays the unspoken worry eating away at him. The sight is a painful one, knowing aloud the most he’ll ever allow is: “I know.” Though the phrase exists as an effort to reassure, those few words plant an inexorable dread in Kai’s chest. Even so, when Hikari lets go of his hand to bring him into a half-hug, Kai finds it difficult to cling to anything but the warmth of his embrace. “Asunaro’s got it handled.” As if an ember has broken from his hearth, it burns upon Kai’s chest with abrupt guilt. His fists curl around the railing.
i am evidently extremely normal about their interactions few and far between. one of the only chapters that hikari is still alive...
in any case! i'm tagging (no pressure) @its-captain-sir , @dyke-mecha , @corvidcrowned , @starrycluster , @logicroute , @room-of-lies , @strawberryjamsara , @riggedbones , @azurehaiku , @aforgottenballad , and @aueua if you'd like to! along with anyone else who wants to do this <3 (it'd probably be best to make your own post though, so this doesn't get too long :D)
#BARELY WEDNESDAY... BUT. IT'S FINE <3#& i hope you dont mind being tagged ;u; i usually just leave it as a 'anyone who sees this!' thing but i want to make an effort to interact#a little more here and there; esp since actual messaging has been much more. difficult as of late#but i still appreciate all of your works & think of them fondly often <3#i cut out a long rambling here but. gestures... oh also -#though i know a few people i've tagged here don't often share their writing... gently looks at you. still curious & would love to see more.#tag me if/when you do this 👁️#jestersvaguely#mcfdau#my wips#also: katniss you can also do this if you see it / are so inclined btw. i just never know which blog to tag aehaha

@digimon02countdown Day 4 - The Digital World
One of my favourite things that was merely hinted at in Adventure, but fully established and expanded upon ever since 02, is the idea that there are several parallel worlds besides the real and the Digital World - and that there is an inherent connection between these worlds and the Chosen Children, their feelings and wishes.
There are several instances in the series that use this concept (and even the stageplay picked it up!), but if there are three characters who have understood this aspect and are proving the theory within the course of 02 to be somewhat true - it's Hikari, Ken and Takeru, in my opinion.
Ken and Hikari have a strong connection to the forces of darkness and light - in Hikari's case, it's also because she was initially chosen by Homeostasis itself, basically carrying a special life force within herself (= light) and is thus capable of functioning as a host...
In Ken's case, the wish to be "chosen", just like his own brother appeared to be, may have been responsible for him being drawn towards the world of the dark ocean - a world that Hikari probably also ended up in due to her empathetic nature and inherent connection to these worlds.
The main duty of the Chosen Children is to keep distortions at bay and maintain the balance of the worlds, preventing them from merging and creating absolute darkness - which is a tough task, considering that all these worlds still appear to be connected.
But the Chosen Children themselves are capable of summoning miracles - simply due to their deepest wishes and desires the Digital World (and other worlds) are able to read and respond to.
We can clearly see that proven by Hikari's wish to be saved by Takeru and Takeru's corresponding wish to save her from the world of darkness - his "hope" to bring "light" back, so to speak. (In my opinion, that is also why Koushirou was subconsciously able to get in touch with Taichi while he was in the real world - and why Taichi was capable of returning to the Digital World.) This experience is also what makes Hikari reassure Ken that, as long as somebody wants them back (= wishes for it), they will be able to leave the world of darkness again.
The potential behind this theory, the existence of countless parallel worlds and the matter of wish-fulfillment will hopefully be part of the 02 movie - because it's such an intriguing concept with so many possibilities.
