Weak Hero Character Names

For those who don't know, the Weak Hero webtoon anglicized a bunch of the characters' first names from Korean to English. They don't do this for newly introduced characters anymore AFAIK, but all the names they anglicized initially have been kept that way.

Since I've gotten a few people asking about the names, so I decided to compile a list of their original Korean names. You can find amost of these on their character profiles on the Weak Hero fandom page, but I figured people would appreciate having a quick reference that is all in one place. Hopefully this helps people learn/connect their original names.

Remember, this is not a full character list, it's for finding the Korean names of the characters that had their names anglicized.

   Dizi 12 bölümden oluşan zırıl zırıl bir dramı konu alıyor. Herkesten özür dileyerek ve tüm içtenliğimle söyleyebilirim ki hiç bana hitap etmedi. Öyle ki, izlerken ruhum daraldı, ufunetler bastı. Bir türlü “evet bu” diyeceğim noktaya gelemedim. Bunaldım, üzüldüm, daraldım, sıkıldım. Aslında daha en başından mutsuz sonla biteceği belli olan birçok dizi izledim. Hiçbiri bu kadar gırtlağıma yapışmamıştı. Silah zoru ile izledim desem yeridir. Hiçbir yerde olumsuz eleştirisi olmayan ve puanı oldukça yüksek olan bu dizi için bu şekilde yorum yapmak zorunda kaldığım için üzgünüm.

Dizi 1980 yılının Mayıs ayında meydana gelen Gwangju Ayaklanmasını konu alıyor. Öncelikle bu diziyi izleyecekseniz çok kısa da olsa Gwangju Ayaklanması ile ilgili yazıları okursanız, izlemesi belki bir nevi daha kolay olur. Aslında birazcık bizim tarihimizde yaşanan 1980 öncesi Türkiye'si sağ-sol olaylarını anımsatıyor. Hwang Hee-Tae (Lee Do-Hyun), çok zeki bir Tıp öğrencisidir. Hemen hemen hiçbir konudan hoşlanmaz. Hayatını ‘Ön yargıya karşı bir savaşçı’ olarak tanımlar. Oyuncuyu ilk Hotel Del Luna’da izledim. Dizi içinde başka diziye spoiler vereceğim ama benim için kendisi Hotel Del Luna’nın ateş böceğidir. Hala gıyabında konuşurken ateş böceği diye bahsederim. Sonradan kendisini Sweet Home dizisinde de izlediğimden burada görmek benim için tanıdık bir yüz oldu. Karakterimiz bekar bir annenin çocuğu. Hayatı etrafındakilerin ön yargılarını kırmaya çalışmakla geçtiğinden misyonu da ön yargılar ile savaşmak. Bu savaş uğruna hep en çok çalışan, en başarılı olan kişi olmak zorunda kalmış. Ve neticesinde birincilik ile bitirebileceği Tıp okulunu hobisini bahane ederek uzatmıştır.

Lee Soo-Ryeon (Keum Sae-Rok ) ise zengin bir ailenin hukuk okuyan kızıdır. Ülkenin karışık olduğu bu dönemde üniversiteli öğrenciler komünist ilan edilmektedir. Soo-Ryeon ise darbeci yönetime karşı gelip protestolarda en önde yer alır. Ailesi onu bir an önce evlendirmek istese de asla evlenmek istemez. Karıştığı protestolardan biri artık bardağı taşırınca babası ona görüşmesi için birini ayarlar.

Kim Myung-Hee (Go Min-Si), Soo-Ryeon’un fakir arkadaşıdır. Üç yıldır hemşirelik yapan naif, sakin bir kızcağızdır. Eğitimi için paraya ihtiyacı vardır. Bu nedenle de izdivaç buluşmasına para karşılığında arkadaşının yerine gitmeyi kabul eder. Amaçları basittir, buluşma sırasında uygunsuz davranacak, ilişki başlamadan karşı tarafın olumsuz yorum yapmasını sağlayacaktır. Buluşacağı kişi ise Hee-Tae’dir. Hesaba katmadıkları şey ise Hee-Tae’nin daha önce onu görmüş ve görür görmez aşık olmuş olmasıdır.

Lee Soo-Chan (Lee Sang-Yi) ise Soo-Ryeon’un abisidir. Fransa’dan yeni dönmüştür ve uzun süredir Kim Myung-Hee’ye ilgi duymaktadır. Yani kendisi dizideki ilişkilerin kör düğüm olması için gereken son düğümdür. Oyuncuyu Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha da ikinci erkek rolünde izlerken baya keyif almıştım. Bu dizide de yine aynı rütbesini koruyarak kariyerine devam ediyordu.

Şimdi bu noktada, diziye ilk başladığımda bana hissettirdiği şey “Business Proposal” dizisinin o eğlenceli havası oldu. Biraz eğlenceli biraz gergin bir aşk izleyeceğimizi düşündüm. O kadar yanılmışım ki… Bütün bu hissiyatım 2.bölümde su balonu gibi patladı. Bir anda dizisinin havası sanat filmlerinin o ağır melodramatik rengine büründü.

Lee Do-Hyun ve Go Min-Si ; “Sweet Home” dizisinde abi kardeş rolünde olmalarına rağmen bu dizide umutsuz aşık rolünü sırıtmamışlardı. Gel gelelim dizi her bölüm o ağırlaştırılmış havasını arttırmaya devam ettiği için ben çöktükçe çöktüm. Olaylar derinleşti, savaş çirkinleşti. İnsanların mücadeleleri alevlendi. Masum insanların çaresizlikleri yuvarlana yuvarlana büyüdü. Bütün olayların ortasında yanlışlıkla bir araya gelmiş bir çift olarak kaldılar. Hakkını arayan masum insanların katledilmesi bende üz��ntüden çok buhrana neden oldu. Dizide ��ekilen sahnelerin bir çoğu tarihte günümüze ulaşan fotoğraflardan sahnelenmiş. Belki kendi tarihimiz olmadığı için bilmiyorum, bizim olaylarımıza bu kadar benzemesine rağmen ben ağlayamadım.

Ve mutsuz son tabi ki… yani bunu spoiler olarak düşünemezsiniz bile, çünkü zaten ilk bölüm bittiğinde bu dizinin gidişatının hiç mutlu olmadığını herkes anlıyor. Günün sonunda özetlersek, diziyi kimseye önermem. Benim için kötü bir tecrübeydi.

  Un gardien de prison doit faire face à une attaque d’un groupe de guerriers fortement expérimentés venu libérer leur chef, emprisonné depuis une tentative de rébellion contre le roi…

    “Yeokmo – Banranui Sidae” (역모 – 반란의 시대), ou “The Age of Blood” est un film historique sud-coréen datant de 2016, co-écrit et réalisé par Kim Hong-seon-I, qui signe là son premier long-métrage. Les acteurs principaux sont Jung Hae-in, qu’on a pu voir dans “The King’s Case Note” (2016), Kim Ji-hoon-I, qu’on a pu voir dans “Natalie” (2010), Lee Won-jong, qu’on a pu voir dans “Operation Chromite” (2016), Jo Jae-yun, qu’on a pu voir dans “The Outlaws” (2017), Hong Soo-ah, qu’on a pu voir dans “Face” (2004), Ryu Tae-joon, qu’on a pu voir dans “The Suffered” (2014), Kwon Hae-sung, qu’on a pu voir dans “The Lingerie Murders” (2015), et Jung Ji-hoon, qu’on a pu voir dans “The Divine Fury” (2019). Ce métrage est paru le 22 juillet 2015 en Corée.

L’histoire proposée par “The Age of Blood” nous invite à suivre Kim Ho (Jung Hae-in), un ancien soldat aujourd’hui désœuvré. Par l’intermédiaire de son oncle, il est enrôlé comme gardien de prison. Lors de sa première nuit de travail, il doit faire face à une attaque visant à libérer un important prisonnier, Lee In-jwa (Kim Ji-hoon-I), par un groupe de guerriers aguerris. Beaucoup des prisonniers et des gardiens sont tués, et seul Kim Ho parvient à faire face à l’attaque. Laisser pour mort, lorsqu’il retrouve ses esprits, Kim Ho comprend qu’une vaste opération visant à faire tomber le roi est en cours. Il va devoir rassembler toutes ses forces et déployer tout son savoir-faire pour empêcher In-jwa et ses sbires de parvenir à leurs fins.

Il faut avouer que le scénario proposé par Kim Hwang-seong, Kwon Soon-gyoo et Kim Hong-seon-I est réduit à sa plus simple expression. Des types viennent libérer leur copain de prison pour ensuite aller tuer le roi. Un gentil gars va empêcher la chose d’arriver. Réduit à sa plus simple expression que j’ai dit. Le roi en place a pris le pouvoir en faisant tuer son prédécesseur. Des fidèles à l’ancien roi ont décidé de destituer le nouveau souverain en organisant un soulèvement avec à sa tête Lee In-jwa. La rébellion échoue et In-jwa se retrouve en prison. Il parvient donc à s’évader grâce à l’intervention des complices et se met en route pour le Palais-Royal dans l’espoir de destituer le roi, laissant derrière lui un amoncellement de cadavres. Seul grain de sable dans le plan, la présence de Kim Ho, bien décidé à protéger son souverain. “The Age of Blood” est à la fois un film d’action, un film historique et une histoire dramatique.

De l’ensemble des personnages, le focus se fixe essentiellement sur Kim Ho incarné par Jung Hae-in. Après le renversement du roi, il perd son emploi de soldat et est rendu à la vie civile. On le retrouve quatre années plus tard. Il vivote de petits boulots, récupérant de vieilles armes qu’il essaie de refourguer à l’armurier du coin en espérant en tirer quelques pièces. Toutefois, par l’intermédiaire de son oncle, il se retrouve, à contre-cœur, engagé comme gardien de prison. Le développement du personnage est très superficiel. On ne saisit pas vraiment pourquoi il se positionne de manière aussi ferme contre les assaillants, en dehors de la motivation de venger la perte de son oncle durant l’assaut de la prison.

D’une durée de 102 minutes, “The Age of Blood” enchaîne les scènes d’action. Rien que l’assaut sur la prison dure pas moins de 30 minutes. Les combats s’enchaînent. Ceux-ci mettent essentiellement Kim-ho aux prises avec les assaillants. Chacun ayant sa spécialité, sabre, masse, lance, arc. Il va les affronter à plusieurs reprises, mais c’est lors de confrontation en face-à-face qu’il va pouvoir s’en défaire. La chorégraphie des combats ayant été confiée à Baek Kyung-chan, il y a une véritable esthétique qui s’en dégage. On peut cependant regretter que les giclées et autres éclaboussures de sang fussent rajoutées numériquement en post-production, ce qui donne un sentiment d’exagération aux scènes. Reste que la dextérité des différents protagonistes est belle à voir, offrant par la même occasion beaucoup d’adynamie au film.

Les valeurs de production présentées pour ce “The Age of Blood” sont vraiment excellentes. La photographie propose principalement des scènes de nuit, le récit central se déroulant en continuité sur une unique nuitée. Comme pour la grande majorité des films historiques, on retrouve un très bon travail au niveau des décors et des costumes. Cependant, un petit plus avec une multitude d’armes différentes utilisées par les différents antagonistes de l’histoire. La bande originale propose des musiques modernes et vient gracieusement accompagner le récit, les tensions et moments de tragédie. Enfin, le montage est très dynamique avec une multitude de prises de vues différentes, des séquences courtes et saillantes. Un vrai régal pour les yeux.

En conclusion, “The Age of Blood” est un très bon film d’action disposant d’une histoire simple dans un contexte historique, d’une intrigue sommaire et d’un développement ultra-dynamique. Le rythme est très soutenu, le récit est fluide et la narration fait appel à de brefs flashbacks. La photographie est excellente, les scènes de combat sont superbement chorégraphiées, les décors, les différentes armes et les costumes sont splendides, la bande musicale est moderne et accompagne agréablement le récit, venant bien remplir l’espace laissé libre en l’absence de dialogue. Le montage permet d’avoir un métrage sémillant et captivant de bout en bout. L’ensemble est particulièrement divertissant et peut allègrement faire l’objet d’une recommandation.

its so sad how it’s ending already

it feels like yesterday when i first saw the videos of the ppl nominated for the x1-ma centers

time flies by so fast

i’ve gotten waaaaay more emotionally attached to these boys compared to any of the other seasons

idk if im happy or sad bc it makes me so sad to see the eliminated boys

donghyun :(((( you made it this far and im proud of you to make it into the top 20. you fought hard all this time!! good job!!!!! we love you

i remember picking out dongpyo, donghyun and hyeongjun as my faves from those first pictures that came out...

and i remember how i found the ep1 live stream on youtube and just wanted to watch a super small part - and i turned it on right at starship’s performance. and i was so heartbroken at hyeongjun performing so poorly because he looked so cute, but he fought back!! and he did so well and came in 4th (!!!!!) place! i love him

and i remember how i first saw donghyun and thought “ah! he looks a lot like donghyun from season 2!” and then i was gonna write down his name and..... wait a second

now that i look back at my list i wrote in the beginning with trainees to look out for...... im shook

i wrote down song hyeongjun, ham wonjin, don dongpyo, lee eunsang, lee wonjun (ah bby :/ ), keum donghyun, nam dohyun, kim yohan, cho seungyoun, kim sihoon and yoon junghwan

8/11 were in the top 20, 6/11 got into the final lineup and the others are hella talented and were eliminated too early

but i guess overall i’m satisfied with the outcome?? like i would’ve wanted wonjin and donghyun in it but i’m not too bothered tbh. it’s alright

i would’ve wanted jinhyuk and wooseok to change places bc i think jinhyuk would bring more to the group, him placing 14th is bullshit

the most saddening thing tho is that the starship boys are all split up now for 5 years so we probs won’t see a starship boygroup now for another 2.5 years so bye guys
