The World Is Waiting For The Sunrise (Written by Gene Lockhart, Ernest Seitz)
This song was made famous by Les Paul and Mary Ford in 1951:
youtube
The version the Beatles recorded in 1960 is so far from the original it’s hardly the same song. We might even go as far as saying it’s pretty much an original with slight influence from Lockhart and Seitz.
We speculated that Paul had only heard it once or twice, or perhaps learned it from a family member who only half-remembered it. It’s also possible Paul liked parts of the melody and the first line, and ran with that; similar to what he did with “Golden Slumbers.”
This is our best attempt at a transcription
Well, the world alive is waiting for the sunrise
The world is waiting just for me, oh
okay
The world outside is waiting for the sunrise
I've always known ah you be up in time
The world outside is waiting for the sunrise
Oh does she wait with me
And you will see
[me and]
[Slow down]
Well the world
You know the world is waiting for the sunrise
I know it’s waiting just for me
[yes don’t you know]
For me
Note: we use square brackets [] to indicate uncertainty, or possible alternative interpretations.
The original lyrics are here. Most versions (including Paul and Ford) leave out the verse.
Since it is pretty much an original, we think it's safe to theorize what it might be about:
Paul is kind of comparing himself to a sunrise, maybe to their hopeful rising star. but also the line about not being up in time makes us think that maybe it's also about how John never sees sunrises.
Another theory is that this might be the inspiration for "Good Day Sunshine"
It's worth noting that around 1:09 Paul sings "does he wait". The things you say when you don't think a song will see the light of day.
ADDITION:
With access to the clearer bootleg, and a hint from the German wikipedia article, we started reconsidering who was singing in this recording. After a lot of discussion we came to the conclusion that they were swapping the vocals around.
Lewisohn lists this song as sung by John/Paul in 1960.
At first we assumed that meant sometimes John, sometimes Paul, but it would also make sense if they shared the vocals. We believe the first verse is John, and the rest Paul. There is a brief harmony on the line “and you will see”.
Here is the transition with music removed by the vocal remover AI (with someone saying 'ok')
Even with our trusty AI, there are some ambiguities in the lyrics.
“Oh,” you managed to say. “Okay. Um, sorry I made up a nonexistent STD about you.”
“No problem,” he said with a smirk. “But for future reference, you might want to go with the wife lie. I can’t get diseases.”
You nodded slowly. “Because of clean eating?”
“Because of the X-gene.”
You blinked a couple of times, staring at him.
“Wait, what?” you asked. “But Theo got sick multiple times after his powers showed.”
“Not for every mutant,” he said. “My body just heals itself.”
“Against everything?”
“Mm hm.”
“What if we had a car crash right now?”
“I’ve been in car crashes and healed.”
“What if someone attacked you with a knife?”
“Happened before, healed as well.”
“What if someone shot you?”
“Multiple people did in multiple wars. I healed.”
You tilted your head. “I’m sorry, wars?”
“Like I said,” he said after a beat. “My body heals itself. Against injuries, and time.”
You frowned slightly, trying to make sense of what you’d just heard and as soon as the thought hit you, you gasped.
“Oh my God, Logan,” you said. “Did you know Marie Antoinette?”
“What?” he asked with a grimace, turning to look at you better. “What is it with you and Theo and France? He asked me if I knew Napoleon the other day.”
You raised your brows. “Did you?”
“No!” he said. “No, I was born in 1832.”
Holy shit, Julie was right.
You did have a thing for older men but having a crush on an almost 200-year-old man was just a little bit excessive, even for you.
A silence fell upon the car and he glanced at you out of the corner of his eye. “You okay there?”
“Yeah, just in huge disbelief,” you muttered. “Do you miss it? Back then?”
He shook his head.
“Not really,” he said. “It was terrible. Now is better, it's just a little too...”
“Chaotic?” you asked and he scoffed, then nodded.
“Yeah,” he said. “Too chaotic.”
“I mean I wasn’t born in the 19th century but I know what you mean,” you said. “Seriously, if I could just live in a cabin in the woods with Theo and a cat, two dogs and a horse, I’d do it. I even have all their names.”
“What are the names?”
“I’m glad you asked,” you said. “The cat will be Catapult—”
“Are you seriously going to name your cat after a pun?”
“Damn right I am,” you said, counting with your fingers. “The dogs are Underdog and Overdog.”
“Jesus...”
“And the horse’s name used to be Princess Pink Sparkle Her Highness when I was six, but now I’m just going to call her Hi-Horse so that someone can tell me to get off my high horse one day.”
Logan looked like he was in actual pain for some reason.

Dame Angela Lansbury, who died at her home today in Los Angeles at the age of 96, is perhaps best known today as Jessica Fletcher in the acclaimed TV series Murder, She Wrote and in the Broadway stage plays and musicals in significant parts that Hollywood never gave her. But well before that, the Irish-British transplant to America (she and her family left Britain at the height of Nazi Germany’s bombing campaign of her home nation) made her career as mostly a character actress during the Golden Age of Hollywood. She may not have been a major star billed at the top of marquees and movie posters during her time while contracted to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), but she would come to be a recognizable figure to audiences of multiple generations – whether she might be playing a tough saloon owner with a belter of a singing voice, a schoolteacher just making ends meet, Elvis’ mother (despite a nine-year age difference), princesses and queens, the amoral and scheming wife of a political candidate, an emotionally manipulative mother, or a teapot matriarch.
She stepped onto a movie soundstage for the first time at seventeen years of age, while making Gaslight (1944) for MGM. Because she was still technically a minor, she had to be accompanied by a social worker while working on set. Despite this, director George Cukor and her co-stars (including Ingrid Bergman) treated her as equals, all of them recognizing right away her professionality and acting ability. Perhaps producers and studio executives might not have done the same, saddling her so often with character roles, but Lansbury – by all accounts – extended that same kindness Cukor and Bergman afforded to her to so many others over the decades, leaving a legacy that goes beyond whatever personal disappointments she may have had over the more considerable roles she never got to play.
Her distinction as Hollywood royalty came later in life, as our connections of Hollywood’s Golden Age are almost all gone.
Nine of the films Angela Lansbury appeared in follow (left-right, descending):
Gaslight (1944) – directed by George Cukor; also starring Charles Boyer, Ingrid Bergman, Joseph Cotten, and Dame May Whitty
The Harvey Girls (1946) – directed by George Sidney; also starring Judy Garland, John Hodiak, Ray Bolger, Preston Foster, Virginia O’Brien, Kenny Baker, Marjorie Main, Chill Wills, Selena Royle, and Cyd Charisse
The Three Musketeers (1949) – directed by George Sidney; also starring Lana Turner, Gene Kelly, June Allyson, Van Heflin, Frank Morgan, and Vincent Price
The Court Jester (1955) – directed by Melvin Frank and Norman Panama; also starring Danny Kaye, Glynis Johns, Basil Rathbone, and Cecil Parker
The Manchurian Candidate (1962) – directed by John Frankenheimer; also starring Frank Sinatra, Laurence Harvey, and Janet Leigh
Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971) – directed by Robert Stevenson and Ward Kimball; also starring David Tomlinson, Roddy McDowall, Sam Jaffe, John Ericson, Cindy O’Callaghan, Ian Weighill, and Roy Snart
Death on the Nile (1978) – directed by John Guillermin; also starring Peter Ustinov, Jane Birkin, Lois Chiles, Bette Davis, Mia Farrow, Jon Finch, Olivia Hussey, I.S. Johar, George Kennedy, Simon MacCorkindale, David Niven, Maggie Smith, and Jack Warden
Beauty and the Beast (1991) – directed by Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise; also starring Paige O’Hara, Robby Benson, Richard White, Jerry Orbach, David Ogden Stiers, Rex Everhart, Jesse Corti, and Bradley Pierce
Mary Poppins Returns (2018) – directed by Rob Marshall; also starring Emily Blunt, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer, Pixie Davies, Nathanael Saleh, Joel Dawson, Julie Walters, Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, David Warner, and Dick Van Dyke

Meet more inspiring women from the world of plant science in honour of Women's History Month 2024!
Mary-Dell Chilton
Modern plant biotechnology would not be possible without the groundbreaking discoveries of Mary-Dell Chilton ( February 2nd, 1939 – present). Much of plant genetic engineering relies on the microbe Agrobacterium tumefaciens to insert genes of interest into the host plants’ genetic code to produce transgenic plants in subsequent generations. This was not possible before Mary-Dell Chilton found the crucial link between Agrobacterium and modification of plant DNA in 1977 by modifying the bacterial plasmid responsible for gene transfer. She has authored over 100 scientific publications and won numerous awards over her long career.
Jeanne Baret
A swashbuckling French woman who lived part of her life disguised as a man, Jeanne Baret (27 July 1740 – 5 August 1807) was a botanist in the crew of explorer Louis Antoine de Bougainville’s voyages which circumnavigated the globe between 1766 and 1769. A person from humble peasant origins in Burgundy who was orphaned by age 15, Jeanne became the housekeeper and later life partner of botanist Philibert Commerson. As part of the expedition's crew, the couple discovered and scientifically described many new plant species in South American, Southeast Asia, and Oceania. However, women were not permitted on French navy ships in the 18th century so Jeanne disguised herself as a man to accompany her partner.
Well for starters, Her name is Mia Carter (Huh…I wonder what inspired my user🤷🏽♀️)
Her pronouns are she/her.
She’s 5’9 so she’s kinda on the taller side
Her mom is mexiacn and her dad is black, but her dad’s genes are REALL strong
Therefore, her skin’s on the lighter side of black, but she’s still noticeably black
and her hair is thick but her curls loosen a lot when her hair is wet
Dark brown eyes
Slim waist and FAT ASS combo (Born with it but goes to the gym to keep it)
D cup. Not huge but not small either
Has a tramp stamp with a heart in the middle, but Half of the Heart is made of a dotted line to symbolize her ability to turn invisible
Belly piercing. Hates studs, usually gets the ones that dangle
She Became a detective because after her powers manifested, the kids at school would call her criminal, stalker, eavesdropper, creep, etc. She just wanted to prove she could use her powers for good
She also really takes pride in helping people
Is really good at running on a few hours of sleep
Can hide her emotions really well, Also really emotional (It’s a double edged sword)
In.De.Pen.Dent. Can do literally everything on her own (until she met Milo of course)
Favorite color is black. Plain and simple and it goes with everything. Loves an all black look.
Listens to all types of music but looooves R&B and Rap. Loves wordplay a lot
Such a city girl. Can go to sleep to the sound of cars honking and people yelling
Their favorite season is actually Winter (Solstice time😋)
Really likes Romance Novels. She loves love.
Anxiety gets the worst when she thinks she’s upsetting/disappointing the people she loves.
Even though she makes fun of him for it, she loves when Milo big spoons her
Can throw him over her shoulder
Gets SUPER just a little sad when she calls Aggro and he doesn’t come
Loves when Her, Milo, and Aggro can nap together. Loves her little Family
Was super nervous to meet the pack. Even MORE nervous to meet Marie.
Now they’re besties. Mia fucking LOVES MARIE
Can cook. Barely. Knows how to make it taste good, but wouldn’t prefer to cook if she didn’t have to
Called off of work for days after the inversion
Doesn’t like the Fourth of July anymore
David and Mia’s relationship is literally “Don’t enable him” “Got it boss :|”
Asher and Mia are actually not as close as most people think they would be. They get along just fine, they just don’t click like crazy
Mia and Sam = Milo and Darlin. Enough said.
Angel and Sweetheart are good friends. Angel thought it was LITERALLY unreal when they found out she could turn invisible and walk through walls. All of their conversations are like shower thoughts. “Have you ever thought about going intangible and putting your hand through a person and then turning back solid?” “Actually yeah I have it sounds dope as hell honestly”
Baaabe and Sweetheart are cool friends too. They’re around the same height and they’re both workaholics, so they bond over small things. “Hey girl! Since the boys have a late shift tonight, wanna get dinner with me?” “Hell yeah, what should I dress like?”
Funny enough, although Milo and Darlin are besties, Sweetheart and Darlin are BESTIES. Literally twin flames, they hang out the most out of all the pack members and mates. Always mocking their mans’ accents, loves thrill and horror, same sense of humor, impulsive, if one gets in a fight, the other will be there in less than 10 minutes. Darlin’ threatens to steal her from Milo all the time. “If Mia does it I’ll do it” “Fuck it let’s go right now”
Honorable mention…Mia and Christian actually get along. He thinks she’s funny, and he definitely knows how not to overstep because he’s actually smart and knows that she’s not to be fucked with. Especially not about Milo. She was pretty sad when she found out that him and Amanda broke up, she liked seeing him happy.
A/N: I’m SO SORRY this took forever honestly it’s been in my drafts for a good long while. But here it is, i’ve finished it😭 Its also really long so i hope it was at least enjoyable
