But due to being a single mother, she had to take Alcyon with her along as well. She was one of the sparks that made Alcyon want to pilot in the first place. A Day in The Life of a “Troublemaker”
6:30 in the morning: “John” awakens. While waiting for count to clear he plugs his headphones into his sleeping cellmate’s MP3 player to listen to a new song. When the door opens for breakfast and they exit the cell, John spots a friend who was just transferred from another facility, embraces him momentarily, and promises to give him some hygiene products to tide him over until he receives his property from the other facility.
On the recreation yard that afternoon, John exercises with four friends, doing pushups and jumping jacks then running laps in formation. Hours later, he shares a meal with the same quartet, each contributing various ingredients. Appreciative, John gives some of his portion to the one who did the cooking.
Returning to his cell with food in hand, he finds that the letter he was writing to his wife recalling their honeymoon exploits was confiscated by officers during a cell search because it was deemed to be obscene. Reading the search report makes him so frustrated that he takes one of his cellmate’s Ibuprofen to forestall the headache that is forthcoming.
The day is over. In less than 18 hours John has committed half-a-dozen disciplinary violations in WDOC, each of which can land him in solitary confinement:
555—Possession of Another Prisoner’s Property (for plugging his headphones into his cellmate’s MP3).
714—Giving Anything of Value Over $10 (for giving his friend the hygiene products).
708—Participating in an Unauthorized Group Activity (for exercising in a group with over four people and for joining them later to contribute to a shared meal).
656—Giving Anything of Value for Unauthorized Favors or Services (for giving a portion of his meal to the friend who prepared it).
728—Possession of Sexually Explicit Material (for the letter to his wife).
716—Using Over-the-Counter Medication Without Authorization (for the Ibuprofen).
For each of these disciplinary violations, John can spend up to 30 days in solitary confinement, according to the Washington Administrative Code (WAC).
This is a prototypical prisoner in a Minimum and Medium Custody facility. I was one of them.
There were hundreds of “Johns” around me. We bore no resemblance to the stereotypical malcontents in prisons where violence and gang activity is endemic. But nevertheless, countless prisoners like John are in solitary confinement throughout the nation for conduct such as this on the putative basis that they pose a threat to correctional management.
The piling on of disciplinary violations from these types of incidents ultimately results in prisoners being sanctioned to ever lengthier stays in solitary confinement because, as the WAC notes, the prisoner’s disciplinary record, prior conduct, and facility adjustment are commonly used to determine the duration of confinement imposed for subsequent sanctions.
In time, these collateral consequences result in many prisoners being locked away on a status called “administrative segregation” on the basis that they pose a continuing threat to the orderly operation of the correctional facility—the months and years spent in solitary confinement equate to increased dosages meant to eradicate a diagnosis of obstinacy.
It is astonishing what Ibuprofen and shared meals can lead to in prison.

Liam Bourgeois: Hm, do you have backup that I can get from your home universe?
Jeremiah: Wait he can get?
Sothis: He can open a portal to any universe and here, but in this universe, he would need to go to that place first.
Muichiro ended up in an unfamiliar place and it was dark and storming. Does he dare look around?

Jeremiah: idk where he got that pizza.
Rp Event: Air Attack
The rp stater would be different depending on the condition of where your muse is
If your muse is in the blimp that Jeremiah and Nathaniel owns: Your muse would be heading to the Sunken Reef Lagoon
If your muse is still in Arcastein: Your muse sees a bigger blimp like airship, and all of a sudden, it starts firing and causing destruction.

Ezekiel 18:1-19:14, Hebrews 9:1-10, Psalms 106:32-48, Proverbs 27:10
Today is November 8th. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian. It is a pleasure and an honor, as always, to be in your presence. And it's quite an honor that together no matter where we are in the world, as separated by geography as we might be, we are all in the presence of the Lord. So, what's not to look forward to about that. It is a great to be here with you today as we take the next step forward in our journey through the Scriptures. And we’re reading from the Names of God Bible this week. Ezekiel chapter 18 verse 1 through 19, verse 14 today.
Commentary:
Okay. As we continue to move through books of prophecy like Jeremiah, like Ezekiel that we’re reading right now, we can find ourselves…we can find ourselves like bogged down in page after page of like impending destruction. And after a while we might notice that this is subtly shifting our focus toward the heart of God. We might begin to unfairly consider Him furious, like and vengeful toward people, which is where this idea of an angry God comes from. But we need to remember something. The prophets were foretelling an outcome that hadn't happened. And although very difficult times were experienced, they could've been avoided. And God spoke about this in Ezekiel today. God said, I don't want we could people to die. I want them to turn from their evil ways and live. That's different than a God who will smite the earth and everyone upon it. So, the prophets weren’t sent by God and their writings weren’t preserved simply to reveal that God woke up on the wrong side of the bed and decided to destroy people. Instead God explained carefully why things were going sideways, why things were spinning out of control, why things were headed in a spiral downward. And this usually boiled down to covenant breaking. And, so, we were talking about a covenant yesterday when we talked about the book of Hebrews. So, the idea of covenant is in no way a foreign concept in the Bible. In fact, it's like ubiquitous, but it's not so different for us now. Well you think…that's…that's way back then…but we still enter into covenants today. We may call them agreements. We might call them a contract, but when we sign them we warrant and covenant about what we’re agreeing to, right? And when we sign it, it’s binding. But an actual true covenant goes deeper than the paper that was printed on. Like, if we were to break the covenant of marriage by committing adultery the onslaught of pain and destruction and scorched-earth that would follow would not be God's fault. Like, no matter how we try to frame Him for it, it would not be God's fault. We will reap what we sow. And the prophets spoke to people who had some wickedness, like wickedness that God says they were doing things that never even entered His mind. So, they had sown wickedness for generations. And, so, they were about to reap the results. So, I mean, as we’ve seen so many times as we move through the Bible this year, the people of God continually broke the covenant and the prophets served as an advanced warning. Like instead of like announcers of doom. Like these dark, mysterious, weird, long-haired, dirty robed figures who come in out of the desert saying bad things are going to happen. Instead of that, they were actually God being long-suffering. Like, He didn't have to warn anybody about anything. The covenant was entered into. And if the covenant was broken then the curses of the covenant were to come upon the person who broke the covenant. That’s how covenants work. Just like the example we used about adultery, like, that's how it works. I didn't have to send any prophets to say, hey, this isn’t gonna work out, you’re going in the wrong direction. So, fundamentally, the messages that the prophets came with has an arc to it. It’s basically God saying, listen we had an agreement and we entered into a covenant and you're breaking the covenant. And, so, the curses of the covenant are coming upon you and because you're breaking the covenant your separating yourself from me. And that's going to lead you into all kinds of trouble if you keep going in that direction. But even if that's what you choose to do, even if that's what happens, and we are estranged, I will not forget you. There will be another side to this and on the other side of this I’ll still be waiting for you to come back to me and there will come a day and all will be restored again. But, I mean, rather than me putting this into my own words, we can hear the words from God Himself. And I quote from Ezekiel 18. Change the way you think and act. Turn away from all the rebellious things that you have done so that you will not fall into sin. Stop all the rebellious things that you are doing. Get yourselves new hearts and new spirits. Why do you want to die? I don't want anyone to die declares Adonai Yahweh. Change the way you think and act. So, it should be crystal clear. It wasn't people God wanted to destroy, it was wickedness that he wanted to eradicate. And anything that would seduce God's people into wickedness and deception was also going to be something that was going to entice them to break the covenant. And, so, the passage that we’re reading clearly gives us language for God's heart in the prophetic books as well as his posture toward humanity. So, we talked about this lots of times as we’ve made this journey this year. The choices we make are going to eventually add up to our destiny. That's how it works friends. And we’re gonna either remain in a covenantal relationship with God or we’re not. God's heart toward us is that we will live, and He has certainly remained faithful to us. And if we want the benefits of the covenant, which pretty much encompasses everything we believe as Christians, then we’re also going to have to be faithful. It just doesn't work any other way, right? I mean you can't just step out on your spouse anytime you want and it's all good. Even if you were to make that kind of agreement with your spouse, even if you were to agree that this was okay it will deteriorate, it is going to fall apart, the bonds of the covenant are broken. And, so, whatever it is that you end up having, it will be something substandard something sub what God intended for marriage, right? We know this, and yet we seem to ignore this with God. If we’re not going to be faithful, then it's not going to work. There are terms and we have to respond. We can navigate our lives into a full-blown mess. We can certainly walk directly into destruction, but we cannot blame God for it. But as God invited us from the book of Ezekiel, we certainly can repent. We certainly can change our minds. We certainly can get new hearts and new spirits in us, we can come running home. The choice is ours.
Song:
Brent Bourgeois - Come Home to Me.
Lyrics
Neither man nor a woman Not a white guy with a black beard Not a pop star in satin suit Neither speck of dust nor big galoot Not a weatherman to stop the rain Not responsible for sinners' pain
Simply I am and I'll be Here to set you free Don't believe what You’ve heard Just read the Word And come home to Me Come home to Me, Come home to Me Come home to Me, Come home to Me And I'll offer you Heaven at the end of the world
No Santa Claus for Jesus freaks No political evangelist No wizard with a magic wand Neither black nor brown nor stunning blonde Not for Romeos in hot Pursuit No dispenser of the Fountain of Youth
Simply I am and I'll be Here to set you free Don’t believe what you've heard Just read the Word And come home to Me Come home to Me (You know I will be waiting) Come home to Me (With arms open wide) - Come home to Me (You know I will be waiting) Come home to Me (Come be by My side) -
Come home to Me (You know I will be waiting) Come home to Me (with arms open wide)
And I'll hold you like a mother holds her child

I finally played BioShock Infinite
First of all yes, it’s racist. Especially at the beginning. If you are Black, you will not be able to even pretend to insert yourself into this game because the main character is literally shown to be a scruffy white guy.
The first third of this game is incredibly upsetting to play. It’s basically a steampunk confederate fantasy fueled by American Exceptionalism.
(Spoilers ahead if you haven’t played)
The entire setting of the game, Columbia, succeeded from the union after a war with China in Peking (There’s a good bit of anti-Chinese racism too, and exactly one reference to the Irish-American “problem” from before they “became” white) and the government told our main antagonist, Comstock, to lay low in the aftermath (he actually stole the credit from a guy named Captain Slate). So his solution was to use technology that didn’t exist in the early 1900s (nitpick of mine) to create a floating city in the sky that looks like a futuristic Leave It To Beaver in color with American propaganda everywhere.
Your very first choice in this game (because BioShock has a morality system) is whether or not to be the first one to pelt a tied-up White man/Black woman interracial couple who are convicted of being together. With a baseball. On a stage. In front of a crowd of bourgeois white people who participated in a raffle for a chance to do so.
After the obligatory “learn how combat works” section, you go to a Masonic Temple type-thingy that houses a fraternity called “The Order of the Raven”, which is really a chapter of the KKK. But their hoods are colored purple! So it’s fun! (It’s not.) There are also big-ass emblems that say “Protecting Our Race” everywhere. Which the designers reused for the police stations and such, just replacing “race” with “values” or some shit. Sure, you get to gun them down, but it’s not satisfying at all because you’re positioned as The Bad Guy by everyone around you at this point.
You also get to rummage a safehouse owned by some white equalist couple where Abraham Lincoln’s portrait is on the wall. As if that makes up for anything.
Elizabeth, the girl you save, is the quintessential white girl in distress, because only white girls are allowed to be tragic. I admit I kind of like her character, but she’s still a tragic white girl. I forgot to mention George Washington, Ben Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson are literally worshiped as gods with Comstock serving as the prophet of them, God, and the archangels. Which is disturbingly close to reality, even if we weren’t in a Trump era. He’s also Liz’s “father” (her actual origins are convoluted as fuck). At some point you fight the vengeful ghost of his late wife. For some reason.
Once you and Liz get out of the civilian side of Columbia, it’s mainly just you two, and the racism isn’t nearly as heavy-handed, but it’s still there. The second leg of the game is spent dealing with the Vox Populi.
Oh my fuck, the Vox Populi
This is a Latin phrase meaning “voice of the people,” and it’s literally made up of all the Black people that exist in this game rebelling against the discrimination of The Negro™ and the exploitation of them by Jeremiah Fink (An absurdly rich capitalist). So if you’re wondering where they all went, this is your answer. And they also all live in the literal ghetto called “Shantytown” which looks like a generic poor Black neighborhood. But it’s fine because Liz has feeeeeeeeelings and wants them to have a better life n shit.
(”Negro” is used a few times and the voice actors sound a bit too comfortable using it)
The leader of the Vox Populi is Daisy Fitzroy, a militant Black woman who has no character traits aside from “kill whitey.” Literally, Liz ends up killing her before she can kill Fink’s son. The only Black NPC in this game with more than two lines. Fucking gone.
The last leg of this game is the most decent, with you and Liz largely traversing alone, but now you have to deal with Comstock’s forces and what remains of the Vox Populi, who again, are where all the Black people are in this game. So your shooting down Black people.
(Spoilers End)
I’m….disappointed in this game. I’m not really angry. Just disappointed. The first two BioShock games are fantastic. And I only played Infinite because it was easier to get the PS4 remaster collection than get 1 and 2 separately. Like everyone said when this game first came out, the racism is used as an environmental prop. Nothing meaningful is said about it, nor is it handled responsibly. The NPCs talk about PoC like dirt and you’re just supposed to….I guess accept it because you’re an unrelated scruffy white guy with a tragic past and a job to do. The most you get as far as commentary is Liz asking why there are separate “White” and “Colored” bathrooms at a theme park and her saying it “Seems like an unnecessary distinction.”
This game isn’t vicious or an intentional “fuck you” to Black players. It’s an unfortunate consequence/side effect of how agonizingly white the games industry is. Only a team of out-of-touch white people could think this was okay– or convince themselves that it is. A team of Black people would take full advantage of creating an alternate universe, if we absolutely had to go with this time period. Because it’s supremely fucked up to use our great-grandparents struggles as a prop in a goddamn videogame. They’d probably haunt our dreams at night wondering what the hell we were thinking.
It’s just a shining beacon of how the industry doesn’t listen to gamers of color. Or anyone who isn’t a white guy.
I hesitate to say I like it. The gameplay is great although I had to retrain myself from the first two, and the story is...okay. There’s just a fuckton of baggage here that I shouldn’t have to power through to enjoy the experience. That’s the entire point of entertainment. It should be effortless. And this game is...not that.

Commentary On The Parables of Jesus: The Unmerciful Servant
St. Peter was an impetuous man, unlike his most recent successors, and so his reserve through our Lord’s discourse in Matthew 18 up to verse 20 is note worthy. The disciples’ question about who is greatest may have been urged by him, or they may have asked it ironically in oblique reference to him. When Peter can no longer keep silent, he asks plaintively: How often do I have to forgive? Usquequo Domine? It is not the most enthusiastic start from the father of all the world’s confessors. Seven times? The bourgeois mathematics, paralyzed by pedantry, provoke the Master’s royal calculus: 70 times seven. That is, no limit.
Christ is a king and belongs to a heavenly city. Peter would suburbanize his Master (I speak metaphorically here, having lived for 40 years in Westchester County as happily as in Galilee). Peter’s kind of king would be more Dutch than Oriental, with Peter as the obliging prime minister. He whose kingdom is not of this world will have none of that. Christ the King presses the point: Not only does His eternal wisdom require forgiveness, it also demands that the forgiver try to convert the offender.
Forgiven a huge debt by his king, the servant in the parable (Matthew 18:23-35) refuses to forgive a small debt owed to him. He is merciless because he is unconverted. While translating ancient currencies is notoriously hard, in terms of modern union scale wages the servant may have owed $4.5 billion. I have the ambiguous conversion charts. The sum is not exaggerated, given government waste in any period. To be in charge of such a budget, the servant must have been some sort of satrap, the equivalent of a highly placed civil servant in the federal Department of Education.
One could tame the parable by concluding that it simply means we must forgive others. That may be how it is preached from some pulpits while the congregation tolerantly glances through the parish bulletin. A man fumed to me that his pastor had affected the air of a long-suffering prophet declaring the justice of God and ordered his parishioners to forgive Osama bin Laden. Is that the burden of the parable? Not quite. City people have to be tougher than suburbanites (the metaphor again), and Christ is of the Heavenly Jerusalem, so He is tougher than all of us. Jesus is streetwise, but His streets are paved with gold. Need we forgive the most despicable of people?
Answer the question first like a saint, for saints consider themselves the most despicable. The fact that they are so wrong about themselves highlights how they are so right about everyone else. Then answer the question like Christ, whose blood absolved us. I have no chart to convert that into modern dollars, but I do know it was poured out freely at great cost. We can have it for the asking, but only at the price of everything that prevents our asking. That was the dilemma of the two thieves crucified with Christ.
There is no reason to forgive anyone unless it is done with enough humility to demand a change of heart in the forgiven. Forgiveness is not a platitudinous appeal to people who are wounded morally and mortally. Jejune philanthropy situates me in a moral suburb that is bucolic for a day and hell for eternity. “Let the wicked forget his way, and the unrighteous man his thought, and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.” So spoke Jeremiah (28:8) in consort with the Psalmist (130:7-8), Isaiah (1:18), and John (1 John 1:9).
All of us are indebted to God; none of us has enough to pay the debt. God is willing to forgive the debt, but the condition of the absolution is that it be urged on those around us. The moral deficiency in the unmerciful servant is hinted in the way he has to be “brought” before the king. A man so niggardly lacks the moral elegance to be anything more than a petit bourgeois outside the gates of Zion. He who was forgiven much forgave little, for it is easier to leash sin than to unleash grace. Unctuous words of forgiveness will not populate heaven with luminous saints who once had been the most lurid sinners. Efficacious grace must be a chain reaction. God wills that all be saved, but pride blocks that. “Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.” The selfishness of those who damn themselves turns the Lord’s Prayer into the Devil’s Prayer.

"The Extraordinary Ordinary Prisoner: Essays From Inside America’s Carceral State"
The title of this post is the title of this notable new book authored by Jeremiah Bourgeois. The book is a collection of columns, mostly written while Jeremiah Bourgeois was serving a term of life imprisonment for a crime committed at the age of fourteen. Here is how the work is described at Amazon:
On June 7, 2016, an email from a prospective writer appeared in the inbox of The Crime Report, a nonprofit criminal justice news site. The last line in the message caught the editors' attention: “I realize that submissions should include more information. However, I hope you overlook that requirement in light of the fact that I am incarcerated.”
Over the next three years, Jeremiah Bourgeois, then confined to the Stafford Creek Corrections Center, a mixed medium-minimum security prison for men near Aberdeen, Washington, contributed 36 columns on his own transformation from self-destructive rage to dedicated writer and on subjects such as the treatment of gay and transgender prisoners, the lack of a #MeToo movement for incarcerated women, and the hypocrisies of prison “family visitation” events.
Months after Bourgeois finally won his parole in 2019, The Crime Report is publishing this collection of Jeremiah Bourgeois's most searing and unforgettable work.
The Crime Report provides more of the story in this posting:
When he wrote us, he was 38 years old — and had already spent the previous 24 years behind bars for the May 19, 1992, revenge killing of Seattle store owner Tecle Ghebremichale, who had testified against his brother in an assault case. Aged 14 at the time of his crime, he was sentenced to life without parole in the era before the Supreme Court ruled such sentences for juveniles unconstitutional. Jeremiah had every expectation of spending the rest of his life in prison. “It was probably the saddest case I’ve ever had,” his lawyer, Michael Trickey, told the Seattle Times in 2005, noting both Jeremiah’s age and length of sentence.
Jeremiah spent much of his first decade in prison in a permanent state of anger and defensiveness, frequently in conflict with corrections officers and fellow inmates. But then something changed. Prisoner #708897, as he would later write in his columns, realized that he was on a path to self-destruction. He began reinventing and reeducating himself through long hours in the prison library.
He is not the first incarceree to write his story. Prison writing has long been a special genre, and The Crime Report has frequently published work written behind bars — by both juveniles and adults. But Jeremiah’s emergence as an independent, often contrarian, voice has been especially timely as our national debate about mass incarceration approaches a crossroads.
