W6: social media influencers and the slow fashion movement.

Influencers are defined as people who have an impact on a certain group or community through images, actions, and ideas that are received to a certain extent. Hence, the establishment of influencers is formed based on the platform and method they choose. Social media platforms, influencers have used social media platforms as a marketing method of advertising products(Evers,2021). With social media and its viral nature, influencers have a greater chance of engaging online audiences than traditional media audiences before social media platforms came along. The strong growth of platforms contributes to the ever-expanding role and influence of influencers in the marketing strategies of fashion brands. Ryu (2019) stated that the pervasiveness and huge user communities that social media platforms possess create a diversity of any user's online fashion preferences and needs. An influencer's online characteristics are also noticed by brands, as they consider whether the influencer audience is a good fit for a brand's promotional product. 

 Acumen and updates are focused and implemented in building influencers' content, allowing them to maintain their reputation. For promotion in slow fashion, influencers can act as spreaders about fashion trends through sharing images using products. Especially, other things can also be composed of ideals, thoughts or words expressed through the form of posts, videos, sharing slow fashion products (Jung & Jin,2016). However, the fast-paced, consumer-oriented nature of social media may be at odds with the principles of slow fashion, which advocate reducing waste, valuing ethical production practices, and valuing quality over quantity (Korell & Logan,2012).

Korell & Logan (2012) assert that the role of affiliate marketing campaigns in collaboration with social media influencers is extremely important, including influencing brand identity and message communication. For example, set up with Stella McCartney, a fashion house that promotes sustainability with eco-friendly designs, Mariacarla Boscono and Natalia Vodianova, two models and social media influencers were selected for the Spring/Summer 2016 womenswear campaign collection and attracted a wide audience. Hence, the reputation boost can threaten the development of the product in the case of superficiality and inconsistency in the influencer's product promotion process. The core values of sustainability and friendliness of slow fashion can be mitigated by the pressure of content innovation, creating ridiculous and unrealistic ads in the marketing process(Dantas,2020). Hence, In order for influencers to effectively advocate slow fashion, there needs to be a deeper, more critical interaction with the principles of the movement. Brands also need to be selective and decide carefully in the influencer selection process.

We have already talked about realism in a session. Here in this blog post I would like to discuss about realism. Now some animation movies were remade. Some of the 2D animation by Disney like Aladdin, Jungle Book, Beauty and the beast, Lion King etc. were remade and they implemented the concept of realism in those movies.

I choose Jungle Book 2D and 3D as an example to discuss the effectiveness of realism.

“The Jungle Book, directed by Jon Favreau, who made the first two Iron Man films, this version of The Jungle Book, which borrows from both Disney’s 1967 cartoon and the original Rudyard Kipling novel, sets a new standard for life-like CGI animals. Shot entirely on a soundstage in downtown Los Angeles, it is sort of a hybrid of Avatar and Who Framed Roger Rabbit, with one human performer surrounded by animated creatures — the difference being that every effort was made to trick the audience into believing the animals were real”. Here we can see the differences between 2D and the remade one. They created more details while they modelling the character, body proportion, detailed hair etc. are based on real animals. They didn’t add the facial expression, that made more similar to the real animals.

The main issue with realism is how the characters act in person, especially on their faces. The faces of the characters don't show how they feel because their real-looking features aren't expressing human feelings clearly.

In my opinion if we consider the detailing and realistic output Jungle Book 2016 is defines realism better than the 2D animations. Even though the facial expressions are less but we can understand the emotion of that situation by the postures.

Describe the product.

A comparative measurement of the contribution to the spread of a fire made by an essentially flat material, composite, or assembly is provided by the test method given in BS 476 part 6. A fire propagation index is used to represent the test outcome. Its major objective is to assess how well internal wall and ceiling linings work.

Technological information

1. The box support structure made of stainless steel.

2. Quartz radiators with a 1000W power output that heat the sample.

3. There are also stainless steel sample holders, a calcium silicate board combustion chamber, a T-type burner, and an open flame combustion mode.

4. The power output is automatically controlled, and the output power is varied in accordance with the length of the test; 6. The thermocouple continuously logs the temperature differential between the chimney and the surrounding environment; and 7. 7.5. The computer may print test reports and manage the data automatically.

Application: It is mostly used to evaluate how effectively ceiling and wall linings withstand fire.

Product Specifications

A method for determining a material's flame propagation properties is the BS 476-6 test method. In a fire, it is primarily used to gauge how well wall and ceiling linings perform.

To express the findings, we use the flame propagation index. A tube torch was used to heat the test object, and at that period it produced 530 J/m of heat. At the conclusion of the test's 2 minutes and 45 seconds, the combined wattage of the two electric heaters was set at 1800 watts. After the first five minutes of the test, the power was reduced to 1500 watts and stayed there until the test was over. It took 20 minutes to finish the test.
