How do you think the Johnny Depp situation got so toxic so quickly? Is it just because he’s so famous? I do think the anti metoo crowd saw Depp as a good person to use to discredit the metoo movement and used him accordingly considering how famous he is.
I mean I remember the level of hatred he got in 2016-18 then it just changed so dramatically during the trial with seemingly so little effort. It felt so suspicious to me. I went from being pretty indifferent to feeling genuinely quite sorry for Amber. She was treated awfully and I have never really been a fan of hers. I wonder if he employed bots to help start a conversation in his favour considering it really seemed like he had very little positive media coverage before the trial. Although there were plenty of real people on his side on TikTok and Twitter etc.
I just wish he was never cast as Grindelwald. Jo and the crew got so much hate for keeping him as Grindelwald for CoG after allegations then got so much backlash for getting rid of him after a judge literally deemed him guilty. I do think it really damaged the fantastic Beasts films. I have a feeling it would have received a little more goodwill if another actor played Grindelwald from the beginning. Still, some teenagers (like my middle school classmates) believe politics is aloof, and far from their everyday lives. They haven’t realized that even the movies they watched, songs they listened, books they read, money they paid for food, are the results of politics. I think politics is more like a macro-interpersonal relationship, if you want to tell a story about people, you certainly cannot avoid describing the relationships of them. If you want to tell a story about a massive number of people, and that is the show time of politics.

When the Gestapos and Nazi thought polices smashed doors open and dragged people out of their houses, when the terror of political persecution enveloped the soil of the Soviet Union, and leaked through the iron bars of Gulags, when Khmer Rouge orchestrated the Cambodian genocide and massacred millions of its own citizens, when children denounced their parents, students denounced their teachers because of the brain-washing propaganda during the Cultural Revolution, people suddenly realized that “there is nothing new under the sun.” Just like Mark Twain putted,” History doesn’t repeat itself, but it rhymes.”
I have read Nineteen Eighty-Four, and I’ve also read Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World. If Orwell and Huxley knew the horrible descriptions in their books came to life again and again, I dare not to imagine how desperate they would be. But I still trust that one more person read George Orwell, there is one more guarantee for freedom. Everyone should bear the words of Nineteen Eighty-Four in mind,

Another interesting development is the leaks of CIA information, at a very interesting timeline, following Donald Trump’s rediculous claims based on a right wing conspiracy theorist’s report about the wiretap, Mark Levin, and Breitbart News, and Infowars, and of course supporting the nonsense, FOX News and Sean Hannity. All of this after Mike Flynn, Paul Manafort, Jeff Sessions, Carter Page, Roger Stone, and now J.D. Gordon all more or less being confirmed as having communication with Russian officials during the campaign. Add to that list Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, Sheriff David Clarke, Ivana Trump, Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen whose wife is Russian and her father a prominent property developer in Moscow, and no doubt many more will be exposed.
Most Republican politicians have been reluctant to support or even acknowledge the possibility of Trump’s Kremlin Connections and a call for an independent investigation. Some have even spoken out calling it ridiculous, but they are more than accomodating to investigate Trump’s ridiculous wiretapping claims that he will not corroborate with any proof. What are the Republicans trying to prevent from being discovered? It has always been my feeling that there are lawmakers on Capitol Hill that were also involved, especially those involved in the Benghazi and Clinton email investigations; if not directly then at least in coverups and corroboration with Trump surrogates and the alt-right networks.
