A snip i need to get out of my head before bed. (Warnings pregnant reader, not proofed read, I'm so fucking tired)
Poly 141 x pregnant reader.
When you told the boys that you were pregnant, many many emotions but not one was negative towards you.
Johnny was excited, immediately thinking of names and happy that they almost have enough people for a football team (john thinks rugby would be a better sport but who is asking).
Simon who is immediately nervous due to his own family issues, he knows therapy can help with this but he'll be damn if he is ever like his father.
Kyle who is immediately thinking why it is important to know who the father is, even if he isn't the bio dad he is still gonna buy the proper hair products just in case.
John who is already crying, he is a big papa bear now and he couldn't be more happy.
Over the course of your pregnancy, the boys are literally waiting hand and foot for you.
Simon refuses to let you do anything on your own. You want to help with the nursery? No sit down and rest. You need to bend down and grab something you dropped? Nah call him even if he is at work.
John is up your ass about you doing exercises and taking your prenatal vitamins. He wakes you up at eight in the morning to do a light work out for your core muscle then makes you wind down for bed by 9 pm.
Johnny is always ready to make a snack run, even if John is against it, hell he even got back up emergency snacks in the car. Even though you all share an Alaskan king bed, reach over and shove him awake so he can do a quick errand.
Kyle is always with you when you are shopping, 100% he will agree with you on any clothing for the baby, you want the cutest expensive baby towel that is good for eczema? No problem. You think we should do cloth diapers? You're absolutely right, save nature.
When you have to get a body pillow/pregnancy pillow to support your stomach the boys are upset that they can't cuddle you without the pillow being in the way (or the little shit kicks them and it hurts you).
The boys love, LOVE it when you wear tight shirts, I mean look at that adorable bump and Jesus christ your breast have gotten so big.
Speaking of breast, Johnny is always looking at you like a kicked dog when you don't let him "help" you pump.
Please tell them when something hurts. Because these boys take everything too serious. When you started having braksion hicks, they were so paranoid. It got to a point where when you were in labor you didn't tell them untill they were 5 minutes apart. Which freaked them out, rushing you to the hospital.
The boys are 100% supportive of your birth plan, they really are.
But as soon as the contractions hit and they see your pained expression, they are immediately second guessing.
John is bluntly telling you to take the epidural.
Simon is rubbing your back telling you that there is no reward for having a natural birth.
But, you progress, practicing your breathing exercises, you've been training for this moment. You decided to bounce and roll on the yoga ball that was offered in the room, it help with the pressure.
Johnny is the one who has been trying to sneak you food, happy wife (or partner) happy life. But Kyle is nagging him how you cannot have food when you are close to labor (you're only 2 cm and it's been four hours).
Simon is encouraging you to sleep and rest, when you obviously can't Johnny is helping you recheck the diaper bag for the tenth time that night.
Kyle who is walking with you up and down the hall, purposely walking down the hall with the window where you can see the other newborns.
John who is now having panic attack, 'oh god I'm going to be a father'.
When it's finally time to start pushing, one of the nurses tries pushing out the others, thinking that John is the father. It wasn't untill your midwife told them to leave them be and that they can stay.
Simon and John who are holding your hands as you pushed, Johnny is playing with your hair to help distract you from the pain and Kyle is wiping your forehead.
When everyone hears the sharp cry that echoes in the room, the gasp is heard, when the newborn is placed on your chest, they can't help but shed a tear.
Simon and Johnny are telling you that you did an amazing job. Kyle is kissing your head, comforting your cries, John is watching the nurses every move with the newborn.
They all couldn't be more happier.

boyfriend!soonyoung who’s the school’s infamous dance captain, while you’re a member of the dance club. that’s how the both of you met.
boyfriend!soonyoung who was known to be a dynamic ball of energy, but with you — he was so shy initially. thought you were too pretty to approach, thought you looked out of reach. took him a while to be able to be friends with you.
boyfriend!soonyoung finally had the balls to confess to you after working on a dance project with you for 2 months. impulsive 2am thoughts and a slip of the tongue while the both of you were slurping down cup noodles after practice.
“—so yeah jihoon wouldn’t stop making fun of me, especially about my crush on you and—”
“what?”
“…what did i say?”
boyfriend!soonyoung who’s superrr clingy. even if it’s a separate practice session for team projects within the dance club, he’s gonna be at yours. sitting at the back, the front, beside the mirrors — wherever. (and it makes the juniors/other members nervous as HELL)
boyfriend!soonyoung who gets pouty when you tell him not to show up all the time — “it intimidates the rest!” but he promises to not be noticed the next time; cue him going to your next practice in a ball cap and mask, sitting at the back corner.
boyfriend!soonyoung who is always willing to help and guide you patiently. (though he is always impatient and scary with the other team members) with you though — he can never lose his temper at you. every mistake you make causes him to giggle like you’re the cutest thing ever.
“you’re so cute baby,”
you pout “i’m sorry baby… i can’t seem to get this even though i’ve done it like - 20 times.”
“it’s okay baby, you’re doing so well. doing better than dino even.”
you tilt your head…”that’s impossible”
“i’ll happily watch you practice it a 100 times angel,”
boyfriend!soonyoung who’s your biggest supporter. he’s your biggest fan. after every performance, he never fails to gift you the biggest & most dramatic bouquet of flowers with a little tiger plushie in the middle. with the longest heartfelt letter sealed in a tiger print envelope.
boyfriend!soonyoung who feels so lucky to have you. because if you think he’s dramatic? you’re even MORE dramatic. customised tiger gifts for him, an even bigger bouquet of flowers for him, and the cutest love letter he has pinned on his board at home.
boyfriend!soonyoung who is always your biggest defender. anytime he hears people talking shit about you — he’s immediate to thrash things out with them. always reminds people how hardworking you are, and loves to talk about you to everyone he knows.
“she’s the prettiest, kindest, purest soul i’ve ever met. and have you seen her dance? swear she’s better than me.”
“she’s the best. i don’t know how i got so lucky to love someone like her.”
boyfriend!soonyoung who loves using not only words of affirmation, he loves his quality time with you, he loves feeling your touch all the time, and he’s the best at acts of service.
“i love you baby. i’ll never get tired of telling you how amazing you are. i’m so happy we got to exist in the same universe timeline, like—” *him rambling and getting distracted by the theories about different universe timelines*
*him always planning the most thought out dates — full day itinerary; at the zoo, pottery dates, etc. but he loves spending his down time with you too — sitting at home, putting on animal print face masks together, doing feet baths together.*
he always needs to hold your hand — doesn’t want to lose you in the crowd (though the crowd on tuesdays at the mall seems to be…bleak). hugs with him lasts at least 10 minutes at a time, and naps with him end up with him hugging you like a koala bear on a tree.
hungry at 2am? he’s at your door within 15 with your favourite late night snack. on your period? he’s got a full care pack covered. late for class? he’s already sitting in your lecture hall; attendance marked for you, taking down notes for you.
nsfw version here!
boyfriend!soonyoung who found out he had a thing for exhibitionism one night while the both of you were practicing late in the dance studio.
you were practicing your moves, concentration at a 100% while looking at yourself in the mirror. and he couldn’t help but feel a little turned out by how hard you were dancing. sweaty, flushed and so so pretty.
the song switches — and you snap your head towards soonyoung. he walks towards you in beat with the sensual song, before wrapping his arms around you from behind.
“follow my guide baby,” he sways, holding onto you so tight. he traces your arms, interlocking both hands with you — flowing with the music while his eyes never left yours in the mirror.
“you’re so sexy baby. love the way you move,” he breathes down your neck, eyes shutting for less than a second before he focuses on you again.
you hum, hips moving against his crotch as you feel yourself get heated up as the song progresses. “learned it all from you baby,” your giggle snaps him out of his deep reverie.
“getting bold now are we?”
boyfriend!soonyoung loves how you’re always down to explore new boundaries with him. he knows the deep trust goes both ways, and he’s grateful.
boyfriend!soonyoung loves when you get all needy for him. it’s usually him being all clingy and like a baby when it comes to you. you’re his safe space. so when he sees you being all wide eyed and desperate for him — it turns him on to no end.
he’s a menace. when it comes to fucking you, he’s double the menace. gets off on you being his needy little angel. no one would ever guess what goes on behind closed doors when it comes to him.
he’s edged you for the past 30 minutes, your juices tainting the dance floor that’s only seen blood sweat and tears of the dancers. his smile is sinister, is relishing in the fact that he’s holding the key to your heaven gates at the moment.
loves to have you in front of him sitting right in front of the mirror. the big and wide mirror capturing the indecent act. your legs wide open for him as his fingers alternate between rubbing messily and harshly on your clit, and plunging deep into your his cunt.
wants you to come undone on his fingers and torture alone.
but he’s selfish, only wants to achieve what he’d set to do so earlier. and it’s for you to cum on his cock. he sits on the floor with his pretty cock out in the open, and has you in the same position, except now you’re sitting on his cock — deep inside you. all still facing the mirror where his gaze is locked on every move you make.
“that’s it baby, ride my cock like you fucking mean it yeah?”
“training you to have strong legs baby, you need them to continue to dance amazingly right?”
you cry out at the overstimulation, you want nothing but to cum. every hit his cock makes chokes you and you don’t recognise the girl in the mirror anymore — so wrecked on your boyfriend’s cock.
“tell me what you need pretty girl,” soonyoung teases as he leans back on his hands, enjoying the view in the mirror, hiding how fucked out he feels. how he is so close to cumming right inside of you this very moment. but he’s holding back. he’s got better control than that anyways.
“need to—need to cum nowww soonie, please baby,” tears pricking at the corner of your eyes as you continue to ride him, pace faltering as you feel your legs getting tired.
“if you can cum like that, be my guest baby. cum.” he shrugs, and you notice the glint in his devilish gaze through the mirror. you groan, legs giving out on you and you resort to grinding slowly.
“need you to—need you to help me,” you pout, if acting cute won’t get you what you want, you don’t know what else to try.
“baby needs my help? can’t cum on her own? aw baby.” he pouts back at you, and you want so badly to snap at him at his tone but you know better than to do so.
“on your knees, face the mirror. won’t tell you twice.” and all energy resurfaces as you scurry to go on all fours, looking at how desperate you appear through the mirror — your reflection mocking you.
soonyoung grunts in approval. slides his cock right back into you, and thanks the heavens for you. for being able to take you like this. swears you look like an angel even being so fucked out on the dance floor, back being blown out.
“so fucking pretty like this baby, how do you always look so fucking beautiful,” he snaps his hips so deep into you with a certain tempo, and you feel like you’re ascending to heaven each time he fucks his cock into you.
his fingers reach forward to smack your puffy clit, using the tip of his fingers to rub messily, finally deciding to let his angel cum.
“c-can’t—gonna cum—i’m gonna cum gonna cum” you cry out with a hoarse throat with actual tears running down your flushed cheeks this time. your hands reach back to grab onto his biceps, nails plunging in, and it drives him crazy.
“you can cum baby, cum on your fucking cock—cream it baby let me feel you—” you clench around him so tight he lets out a string of ‘fucks’. you fall forward, face flat — cheeks pressed on the dance floor, letting your body do the job of releasing the past hour of edging. all tension let loose, you moan out his name so beautifully as you cream and choke his cock with your cunt.
“fuck fuck fuck baby, gonna cum too. gonna cum inside you pretty, fuuuuuck—” his grip on your hips tighten as he releases his creamy load inside of you. airy moans leaving his chest as he lets his cock paint your cunt as his.
he slows down his thrusts, letting the mixture of your releases mix together slowly. you both slowly relish in the moment of your bodies connecting, feeling nothing but love left.
boyfriend!soonyoung who’s always taking care of you — including after care! loves praising you non stop, leaving trails of kisses everywhere. post-nut clarity hits differently for him — where he always tells himself that he wants to be yours forever.
boyfriend!soonyoung who’s not only the best boyfriend, the best lover but also your best friend and the one person you’re most thankful for in the world ! <3

Just a Quick Stop
You had prepared yourself for the goodbyes.
Practiced a lot in front of the bathroom mirror; smiling when you say ‘we had a great run’, swallowing the tears when you shake hands, and ignoring the warmth from his palm and the comforting callouses you had long mapped out.
It wouldn’t be too hard, right?
Because you had known there would be an end to your relationship from the very beginning, hell, he told you himself that this wasn’t anything serious. And you thought you knew what that meant, after all this is the modern era, loads of people have flings, so you shrugged his stern tone off and undressed once more, revelling in the euphoria only he could give you.
But what do girls know of the world?
What did you know, at that age? About being in a man’s world? Of keeping things casual and plainly sexual?
It wasn’t your fault, strictly speaking. He’s older, he should have known better than to say one thing and then do another. Should have never let the lines blur from quick fucks to long aftercare, messy make-outs to reassuring kisses, and from throat grabbing to hand holding.
He should have never bought groceries, refilled your car, made you soup when you were sick, and he definitely should not have let you introduce him to your friends.
But he did.
He did all those things and more.
And your fridge was never empty, you haven’t been anywhere near a gas station, not been sick on your own, and your friends absolutely love him.
Why is it so easy to let someone in your life and so damn hard to let them go?
It can’t be because you didn’t know you would have to, because you did. It was one of those late-night thoughts that kept you awake and paranoid, made you anxious when you didn’t wake up in his arms. It also can’t be because he was just so easy to let in?
No, he was towering and clumsy, unused to the plush carpets and shiny hardwood floors. You had to weave around his frame to get to the kitchen, and pick up his dirty socks, tell him off for leaving the toilet seat up, or placing the cereal boxes a shelf too high.
Eventually, however, you learned to time his steps with yours, warned him before he could even remove them, knew well enough to always pull down the seat even in the dark, and ask for his help in the mornings.
You made room for him.
But he never did the same for you.
That much is clear now, as you stay in the hallway, sitting criss-crossed, watching the door.
You knew something was off when you came back home — there was the faint smell of bleach lingering in the air, and when you wandered further in, you noticed the dishes were washed and stacked, the carpet fluffy, the cushions plump, and fresh flowers were in the vase.
Your heart knew before your mind did.
The socks were gone, the toilet seat down, and you didn’t even dare to look at the cereal boxes, could only stumble back to the front door, gawk at the empty spaces between pairs of shoes, clutching your chest like it might just cave in.
One thing is on your mind, as you stay sitting in the dark.
You wish you had gotten to use your well-thought speech, had gotten to practice your acting a little more, tested it on a real audience, the real audience, or been the mature one and reached in for a hug like it meant nothing.
But you can’t.
Because he’s gone.
And Toji didn't even say goodbye.

HEXED HEART
Ambessa x f!reader
Summary: Recently, Piltover has fallen weak ever since the hexcore stopped working, and the scientists who may have been able to fix it (Heimerdinger, Jayce, Viktor) had disappeared, leaving Ambessa frustrated. However, when she heard news of you, an intelligent scientist, possibly having the skills to fix it, she immediately took action. Even if it meant using a hint of sweet manipulation.
The remnants of Piltover smoldered under the weight of its own hubris. The once-bustling City of Progress was a shadow of itself, its streets quieter, its golden spires tarnished. The Hexcore had faltered, leaving the city vulnerable, its famed defenses useless.
In her laboratory perched high above the city, you worked tirelessly. The other brilliant minds—Heimerdinger, Jayce, Viktor—had all disappeared, leaving you to hold the fort. You were the last hope of Piltover, though the burden had grown suffocating. Every attempt to stabilize the Hexcore had failed. You stared at the latest iteration of your work, frustration and exhaustion gnawing at your edges.
The heavy thud of boots startled you from your thoughts. You turned to see soldiers, clad in Noxian red and black, entering your lab. At their helm was her. Ambessa Medarda, the warlord who cast a shadow wherever she walked. She was as commanding as the stories claimed—tall, statuesque, and radiating an aura of power that seemed to fill every inch of your lab.
She appraised you with sharp, calculating eyes, a faint smirk tugging at her lips.
“I’ve been watching you,” she said, her voice as smooth as silk but edged with steel. “Piltover’s lone genius. Working herself into the ground to save this broken city.”
You squared your shoulders, attempting to summon the confidence that exhaustion had stripped away. “If you’ve come to ridicule me, I assure you, I don’t have the time.”
“Oh, I didn’t come to mock you,” she said, stepping closer. Her soldiers fanned out, blocking any potential escape routes. “I came because Piltover’s failures can serve Noxus. You can serve Noxus.”
Your blood chilled. “I don’t serve anyone.”
Ambessa chuckled, low and amused. “Not yet.” She closed the distance between you in a few strides, her imposing figure towering over yours. “But you will.”
Before you could retort, she reached out, her gloved hand brushing a stray strand of hair from your face. The touch was startlingly gentle, disarming. You stiffened, but Ambessa merely tilted her head, her gaze softening, her smile turning warmer.
“You’re exhausted,” she murmured, her tone shifting to something softer, almost tender. “This city doesn’t deserve you. They’ve wrung you dry, haven’t they? And still, no thanks. No progress.”
Her words hit a nerve, and she saw it in the flicker of your expression.
“I—” you began, but her fingers against your jaw silenced you.
“You deserve better,” she said, her voice a near whisper now. Her thumb traced the line of your jaw, her touch featherlight. “A mind like yours shouldn’t be wasted on people who only know how to take. I can offer you more, darling. Resources. Freedom. Respect.”
You swallowed hard, the weight of her gaze pinning you in place. It was intoxicating, the way she looked at you—not with disdain or pity, but with something that felt dangerously like admiration.
“You just want to use me,” you said, though the words came out weaker than intended.
Ambessa smiled, a sly curve of her lips. “Of course, I do. But I’ll give you what Piltover never could. I’ll make you feel like the treasure you are.”
Her hand slid from your jaw to your neck, her thumb brushing over your pulse. You were hyper-aware of her closeness, the warmth radiating from her as she leaned in. Her lips grazed the corner of your mouth, a ghost of a kiss, before trailing along your cheek to your ear.
“Do you feel it?” she murmured, her breath warm against your skin. “The power we could wield together?”
You shivered despite yourself, torn between resistance and the allure of her promises. She was weaving a net around you, each touch, each word drawing you tighter.
Her hand slid down to your shoulder, her fingers kneading gently, soothing the tension that had built from days—no, weeks—of relentless pressure. You hated how easily she read you, how her touch seemed to draw out the ache you’d buried beneath sheer determination.
“I don’t… I can’t just abandon Piltover,” you stammered, though the conviction in your voice wavered.
Ambessa chuckled, a rich, velvety sound that sent a shiver down your spine. She pulled back just enough to look into your eyes, her expression equal parts understanding and predatory.
“Who said anything about abandoning them?” she cooed, tracing her fingers along the edge of your collarbone. “Think of it as… redirecting your efforts. Piltover has taken everything from you. Why not take something back?”
Her lips ghosted over your temple, and you felt a strange, heady mix of indignation and desire. Every instinct screamed to resist, to fight back against her intoxicating manipulation. But her words had rooted themselves in your mind, growing like thorns around your resolve.
She pressed closer, her presence overwhelming as her other hand cupped your cheek. Her thumb brushed over your skin with a tenderness that contradicted the raw power she emanated.
“I see the brilliance in you,” she murmured. “The kind of brilliance that could reshape the world. But brilliance needs the right soil to grow, and Piltover has done nothing but starve you.”
Her lips found your jawline, a soft, lingering kiss that left your heart pounding. You hated how your breath hitched, how her words sank deeper, wrapping themselves around your doubts and frustrations like a vice.
“I could give you everything,” she whispered, her voice dripping with promise. “Imagine a lab equipped with anything you could dream of. Resources, soldiers to protect you, and the freedom to create without petty councils and politics dragging you down.”
You hesitated, your mind a whirlwind. “And what would you demand in return?”
Ambessa leaned back just enough to meet your gaze, her smirk sharp but her eyes still softened with that feigned tenderness. “Only your cooperation. Your brilliance, dedicated to something greater than this dying city.” Her hand slid down your arm, fingers curling gently around your wrist. “And, of course, you—with all your fire and passion. A partner. An ally.”
Her lips found your wrist, pressing a kiss to the delicate skin there. It was such an intimate gesture that it left you reeling.
“You’re lying,” you whispered, though your voice lacked conviction.
Ambessa smiled again, her confidence unshaken. “I never lie, darling. I may manipulate, I may seduce, but I always tell the truth.” She lifted your hand to her lips, brushing another kiss over your knuckles. “You’ll see. The only chains you’ll wear with me are the ones you choose.”
You trembled, torn between the iron will you’d cultivated in solitude and the dangerous allure of her promises. Her every touch, every word, was carefully calculated, but there was a kernel of sincerity in her eyes that was impossible to ignore.
And then, her tone shifted, low and husky, her lips brushing against your ear. “Or you can stay here,” she murmured, her voice laced with a mockery so subtle it felt like silk slipping over a blade. “Alone. Frustrated. Watching this city crumble around you while you waste away in obscurity.”
The weight of her words settled over you like a storm cloud. The enormity of your failure, the futility of your work, pressed down harder than ever.
Ambessa saw the flicker of doubt in your eyes and leaned in, her lips brushing over your cheek again, her hands sliding to your waist. “Don’t think of it as surrender,” she whispered. “Think of it as liberation.”
Her lips finally found yours, soft and coaxing, her hands firm yet tender as they held you in place. For a moment, the world around you faded, leaving only the intoxicating warmth of her touch, the relentless pull of her presence.
When she finally pulled back, her smirk returned, triumphant but still laced with that maddening, feigned care.
“Take your time,” she said, stepping away as if to give you the illusion of choice. “But know this—I won’t wait forever. And neither will Piltover.”
She turned, her soldiers falling into step behind her, and the door shut with an ominous finality, leaving you alone in the silence of your lab.
Your knees buckled as you leaned against the nearest table, your mind spinning. You hated her, hated how easily she unraveled you. But you couldn’t deny the truth in her words.
And deep down, you wondered if the world Ambessa promised might be worth the price of your pride.
— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —
The silence of your lab was suffocating in the wake of her departure. You stood there, still trembling, your hand resting against the edge of your desk as if it might hold you together. You could still feel her touch, lingering like a brand on your skin, a reminder of the impossible decision she had presented.
Stay… or go?
You hadn’t realized how much you had needed an escape, how desperately you had longed for someone to see you beyond your failures. Ambessa had touched that part of you with ruthless precision. She had peeled away your pride, exposed the vulnerability that you’d spent so long burying beneath equations and inventions.
And now, you stood at the precipice of something you had once sworn to avoid.
The thought of continuing alone in Piltover, watching everything you had worked for crumble—your research, your hopes—seemed unbearable. The weight of it all crashed down on you like a ton of stone. Ambessa’s words, laced with promises of power, resources, and recognition, were beginning to sound like the only way out.
You closed your eyes, feeling your resolve slip through your fingers like sand.
Her touch had been gentle. Too gentle, and that had terrified you. She was a master at breaking down walls, and the way she had looked at you, with a mixture of admiration and something darker, had set your pulse racing. You had wanted her to touch you.
No, you needed her to touch you.
No more endless days in solitude. No more futile attempts at saving a city that didn’t care.
With a shaky breath, you made your decision.
— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —
Later that night, you stood before the door to Ambessa’s private quarters, your hands clammy, heart hammering. You’d walked here with purpose, though the journey had felt like an eternity. Every step had only brought you closer to the inevitable—an alliance forged in the heat of desperation. You knocked once, and the door opened before you could even pull your hand back.
Ambessa stood there, her expression unreadable as her eyes traveled over you.
“You’ve come.” Her voice was steady, but there was a gleam in her eyes that hinted at the satisfaction of a predator about to claim its prize.
You swallowed hard, the weight of the moment pressing down on you, but you refused to let it show. “I’m here,” you said, your voice firmer than you felt, “because I don’t want to be alone anymore.”
Ambessa stepped aside, her lips curling into a smile. “I knew you would come around.”
As you entered, the lavish, dimly lit room seemed almost too luxurious for someone like you, but there was something intoxicating about it. The rich silks, the scent of something sweet and foreign in the air—everything spoke of power and control, the very things you had been so desperate to grasp.
Ambessa closed the door behind you with a soft click, and then she turned to face you, her eyes now intense with anticipation. “Tell me, darling… what is it you truly desire?” she asked, her voice low and coaxing.
You hesitated, but only for a second. Then the truth spilled from your lips. “I want to be… seen.”
Ambessa stepped toward you, a predatory smile playing on her lips. “Oh, I see you,” she purred. “I see you more clearly than anyone ever has.” She reached out, her fingers grazing your cheek with deliberate slowness, as though savoring the moment. “And now, I’ll make sure you’re never unseen again.”
She cupped your face gently, tilting your chin upward, and her gaze softened, as though she were savoring the power of the moment. “You were always meant for something greater than this city. But you needed a catalyst… someone to help you realize your true potential.”
Her touch was almost tender, but the undercurrent of control never left. She leaned in, her lips brushing your forehead with a softness that contrasted the fire in her eyes.
“I can give you everything,” she whispered, her voice filled with honeyed persuasion.
A heat bloomed in your chest, rising to your cheeks, but it wasn’t embarrassment—it was the burning spark of surrender. Every part of you that had been torn between resistance and the seductive pull of her power now bent toward the inevitable.
You nodded, the words tumbling out in a quiet confession, “I’ll help...”
Ambessa’s lips curled into a triumphant, almost possessive smile. “Good.” She leaned in, her mouth capturing yours in a kiss that was both commanding and consuming. It was gentle at first, a slow burn that deepened with every press of her lips, every brush of her tongue. She held you with an intensity that made your knees weak, her hands roaming with practiced care, tracing your sides, your back, pulling you closer until you could feel the heat of her body against yours.
When she pulled back, breathless but satisfied, her fingers trailed down your spine, sending shivers of anticipation through you. “You belong to me now,” she said softly, her voice wrapped in a possessive sweetness. “And I’ll make sure you never regret it.”
You trembled, feeling the weight of her words settle over you, and for the first time in a long while, you realized you didn’t mind. You were hers. Completely.
In her arms, under her gaze, you were no longer the scientist who had failed. You were a tool—her tool—ready to be shaped and molded into something greater, something powerful. You had agreed, out of weakness, yes—but in that weakness, you had found something that felt like freedom.
And as Ambessa’s lips met your skin once more, tracing the delicate curve of your jaw, you wondered if this, this was what it meant to truly be seen.

as soon as the nurse brought you out of the operating room, still drowsy from the laughing gas, your face puffed up like a chipmunk, heeseung had to bite his lip to keep from laughing.
“hey baby,” he said speaking as gently as he was holding you, helping you into the car.
you blinked at him, your movements slow and exaggerated. “you’re like sooooo handsome,” you slurred, staring up at him in complete and utter awe.
heeseung giggled softly, brushing some stray hairs out of your face. “thanks, sweetheart. how are you feeling?” ── 𝖱𝖤𝖲𝖳 𝖡𝖤𝖫𝖮𝖶!
“like… i’m in a dream. a dream where my boyfriend looks like a prince,” you giggled, poking his cheek. “you’re like a supermodel!”
heeseung’s ears turned a bright red as he started the car. “yeah? i don’t think i’m that good looking baby, but i’ll take it.”
“you’re wrong,” you continued, your words barely put together. “like… you’re better than the people on vogue magazines. like… an angel. like a really sexy angel.”
“okay, i think that’s enough compliments for one day,” heeseung said, though he couldn’t stop grinning.
as he drove, you kept getting distracted by random things out the window. at one point, you gasped loudly.
“heeseung! did you see that bird?!”
“what bird?”
“that one! it flew! it’s flying! like batman!”
he chuckled, gazing at you with adoration—reaching over to squeeze your hand. “yeah, birds do that, babe.”
when he pulled into the driveway and helped you out of the car, you wrapped your arms around his waist, holding him tightly. “thank you for being my boyfriend,” you mumbled into his chest.
heeseung melted on the spot, his heart swelling with love. “you’re welcome. and thank you for being my crazy, adorable girlfriend.”

JAY WAS CALM AND COLLECTED WHEN HE ORIGINALLY PICKED YOU UP, but the second you started giggling uncontrollably in the passenger seat, he knew right then that this was going to be an adventure.
“you good?” he asked, glancing over at you as he adjusted the seatbelt around you.
“i’m great,” you said, your voice muffled by the gauze in your mouth. “jay, do you know you’re, like… really hot?”
jay raised an eyebrow, smirking. “oh, really? tell me more.”
“like… unfairly hot,” you said, pointing at him accusingly. “it’s a problem. other people must be so jealous.”
jay snorted, leaning back in his seat. “okay, i think the drugs won’t be wearing off anytime soon.”
as he started driving, you gasped suddenly and grabbed his arm. “jay! jay, we forgot something!”
“what? what did we forget?” he asked, glancing around the car.
“my wisdom teeth! where are they?!”
jay had to pull over because of your panic and distraught. “honey, they’re gone. the dentist took them out.”
“nooo!” you wailed dramatically, leaning against the window. “they were mine— they can’t do that!”
jay wiped the tears from your eyes, shaking his head with a grin. “you’re unbelievable.”
when he finally got you home and tucked you into bed, you grabbed his hand, looking up at him with wide, teary eyes.
“jay, promise me you’ll never leave me. not like my wisdom teeth.”
he leaned down, pressing a soft kiss to your forehead. “i promise, baby. i’m not going anywhere.”

JAKE WAS ALREADY GRINNING AS HE ADMIRED YOU WOBBLING OUT OF THE DENTAL CLINIC, supported by a nurse that was absolutely struggling to keep up with your antics.
“there’s my girl,” he said playfully, helping you into the car. “jakey!” you slurred, your voice high-pitched. “you’re here!”
“of course i’m here,” he said, buckling you in. “who else would pick you up?”
you gasped dramatically as you went silent for a couple of seconds. “sunoo! i bet sunoo would pick me up. he’s soooo nice.”
jake froze, turning to look at you with an offended expression. “sunoo? really? you’d pick sunoo over me?”
you nodded solemnly. “sunoo wouldn’t make fun of me like you do.”
jake laughed, closing the car door and getting into the driver’s seat. “okay, i’ll remind you of this conversation when you’re not high.”
on the way home, you suddenly reached for his face, cupping his cheeks. “jake, you’re so pretty. like a puppy. a golden retriever puppy.”
he smiled, his heart melting. “thanks, baby. you’re pretty too.”
“no, i’m not,” you pouted. “i look like a squirrel. a sad squirrel with big chubby cheeks.”
jake giggled, shaking his head. “you look adorable, the prettiest squirrel i’ve ever seen in my life—even with chipmunk cheeks.”
when you finally got home, he set you up on the couch with a blanket and some water.
as he sat down beside you, you rested your head on his shoulder, mumbling, “jakey… you’re my favorite. don’t tell sunoo.”
he grinned, wrapping an arm around you, and leaving a soft kiss on your nose before whispering, “your secret’s safe with me.”

SUNGHOON HAD ZERO IDEA WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN HE PICKED YOU UP, but as soon as he saw you smiling lazily at him with puffy cheeks and droopy eyes, he knew he was in for it.
“hoonie!” you exclaimed, your voice muffled. “my prince has arrived!”
he blinked, taken aback by the nickname. “prince?”
“you’re soooo pretty,” you slurred, cupping his cheek. “like… a disney prince. like prince eric, but hotter.”
sunghoon’s ears turned pink as he helped you into the car. “okay, let’s get you home before you embarrass yourself even more.”
“you’re so mean!” you whined, crossing your arms.
“i’m not mean,” he said, starting the car. “i’m realistic, babe.”
halfway home, you started humming a melody loudly.
“what are you doing?” he asked, glancing over at you.
“making a poem about you,” you said proudly. “sunghoon is so hot. sunghoon is so adorable. sunghoon is mine. sunghoon is the best boyfriend in the whole wide world.”
he couldn’t stop the smile spreading across his face. “that’s… actually kind of sweet—but none of it rhymes babe..”
and sunghoon immediately regretted that statement after he saw the tears running down your cheeks.
“i’m an english major! are you saying i’m horrible at what i do?” you wailed.
“babe, no—“
when you got home, he tried to guide you to bed, but you plopped down on the couch instead, patting the space next to you. “hoonie, come here. we need to talk.”
he raised an eyebrow, sitting down in curiosity of what you’d say now. “what’s wrong baby?”
you grabbed his hand dramatically. “promise me you’ll never leave me. ever.”
sunghoon blinked, caught off guard by the intensity and seriousness in your voice. “where’s this coming from?”
“my teeth left me,” you said, your eyes glassy. “you can’t leave me too. never ever.”
he bit his lip to keep himself from laughing. “i’m not going anywhere, babe,” he said, squeezing your hand.
“you promise?”
“i promise, i’m here with you forever, whether you like it or not.” he said, leaning over to press a kiss to your temple. “now let’s get you to bed before you start writing me another poem.”
“too late,” you mumbled, already humming another tune as he carried you to your room.

For the past decade, as Donald Trump has risen in political stature, I have waited for that precarious but inevitable moment when his well-documented liabilities would end his political ascendancy, when it would all finally be too much. I waited through scandalous allegations about affairs and payoffs, and misogynistic and violent talk about grabbing women. There were the sexual abuse allegations for which he was found liable in one instance, dozens of felony convictions and even more outstanding indictments, flagrantly racist statements and unrepentant xenophobia.
There have been so many occasions when I thought finally, we have reached the apex. Finally, he has revealed too much of what lies behind the mask. Finally, this country will stand up and draw an unbreachable line in the sand. Finally, Americans will say this is not who we are and actually mean it.
That time hasn’t come.
Mr. Trump’s election demonstrates how American tolerance for the unacceptable is nearly infinite. There are hundreds of absolutely mind-boggling things I could point to from the past decade — the suggestion of bleach injections to potentially treat the coronavirus and the wild QAnon conspiracy theories infecting millions of Americans, including politicians, and insulting veterans and making fun of the disabled. But three elections in a row, Mr. Trump has been a viable presidential candidate and our democracy has few guardrails to protect the country from the clear and present dangers he and his political appointees will continue to confer upon us.
Clearly, Mr. Trump is successful because of his faults, not despite them, because we do not live in a just world.
Toward the end of the 2024 election cycle, the candidates made their closing arguments. Kamala Harris articulated a hopeful vision, a way forward for a fractured country. She positioned herself as a moderate, a leader willing to work with her political opponents, one who embraces diversity and cares about the middle class and recognizes that many people are struggling in one way or another and want those struggles acknowledged. They want solutions for their problems, and Ms. Harris promised she and her administration would work with Congress to better all our lives. Clearly, those promises were unconvincing.
Mr. Trump painted the United States as a dark and foreboding place, festering with immigrants and criminality. A place where good, “normal” Americans have been forgotten as unchecked progress reshapes the world they want — a white, middle-class, heterosexual world — into something inhospitable and unrecognizable. Mr. Trump lacks vision because he lacks imagination and empathy. He cares about himself and leads accordingly, surrounding himself with people who will enthusiastically stroke his ego and make him feel like the king he clearly wishes to be.
In the final, critical moments of the election cycle — during a Madison Square Garden rally featuring all of the bigotry to which we have become accustomed — I needed to believe we had, at long last, reached a point beyond which we could escape from the black hole of Mr. Trump’s terrible politics. Because if he were to be elected again despite all of this, if enough Americans remained obdurate in their willingness to embrace Republican extremism, it would be catastrophic.
And now Republicans will control the executive branch, the Senate and the House of Representatives. There will be few checks and balances.
Mistakes were made in the Harris campaign because mistakes are always made in presidential campaigns. Democrats are now reflecting on those mistakes and figuring out how to manifest a different outcome next time, if there is a next time. The recriminations have been numerous — too many celebrities, echo chambers, ignoring the economy, no alternative to the conservative media ecosystem, too much embracing of conservative politicians, too much identity politics, too big a tent, the price of eggs.
But to suggest we should yield even a little to Mr. Trump’s odious politics, to suggest we should compromise on the rights of trans people, for instance, and all of the other critical issues we care most about, is unacceptable. It is shameful and cowardly. We cannot abandon the most vulnerable communities to assuage the most powerful. Even if we did, it would never be enough. The goal posts would keep moving until progressive politics became indistinguishable from conservative politics. We’re halfway there already.
Mr. Trump’s voters are granted a level of care and coddling that defies credulity and that is afforded to no other voting bloc. Many of them believe the most ludicrous things: babies being aborted after birth and children going to school as one gender and returning home surgically altered as another gender even though these things simply do not happen. Time and again, we hear the wild lies these voters believe and we act as if they are sharing the same reality as ours, as if they are making informed decisions about legitimate issues. We act as if they get to dictate the terms of political engagement on a foundation of fevered mendacity.
We must refuse to participate in a mass delusion. We must refuse to accept that the ignorance on display is a congenital condition rather than a choice. All of us should refuse to pretend that any of this is normal and that these voters are just woefully misunderstood and that if only the Democrats addressed their economic anxiety, they might vote differently. While they are numerous, that does not make them right.
These are adults, so let us treat them like adults. Let us acknowledge that they want to believe nonsense and conjecture. They want to believe anything that affirms their worldview. They want to celebrate a leader who allows them to nurture their basest beliefs about others. The biggest challenge of our lifetime will be figuring out how to combat the American willingness to embrace flagrant misinformation and bigotry.
As Mr. Trump assembles his cabinet of loyalists and outlines the alarming policies he means to enact, it’s hard not to imagine the worst, not out of paranoia but as a means of preparation. The incoming president has clearly articulated that he may dismantle the Department of Education and appears to be giving the wealthiest man in the world unfettered access to the Oval Office. He plans to begin mass deportations immediately and has announced his pick of a Fox News host as the defense secretary — the list goes on, each promise more appalling than the last.
We would like to believe that many of the ideas on Mr. Trump’s demented wish list won’t actually come to fruition and that our democracy can once more withstand the new president and the people with whom he surrounds himself. But that is just desperate, wishful thinking. As of yet, there is nothing that will break the iron grip Mr. Trump has on his base, and Vice President-elect JD Vance is young enough to carry the mantle going forward for political cycles to come.
Absolutely anything is possible, and we must acknowledge this, not out of surrender, but as a means of readying ourselves for the impossible fights ahead.
“Mr. All of us should refuse to pretend that any of this is normal and that these voters are just woefully misunderstood and that if only the Democrats addressed their economic anxiety, they might vote differently. While they are numerous, that does not make them right.”

You can't breathe.
Your mouth burns.
Your body won't stop shaking.
You can barely see through the tears in your eyes (when did you start crying?)
You're on the floor, in the kitchen.
You look over, Katsuki is next to you, hunched over himself so you can't see his face, his shoulders shaking violently.
He stills, and looks up slowly to meet your blurry vision.
You both pause, and for a moment you know nothing but the crimson of his eyes, still bright and piercing.
Then you cough, a mistake because you immediately feel the burn of spice going down your throat sending you into a coughing fit and bringing more tears to your eyes.
It makes him break into hoarse laughter and watching him makes you laugh brokenly through your coughing with him.
The empty packs of Extra Spicy Curry Masala Maggi noodles lay abandoned between you on the floor after your competition of who could eat the most spicy noodles.
You think all the spice may have had some sort of effect on your brain chemistry the way you and Katsuki couldn't stop the breathy laughs from escaping even in such a pathetic state.
You're not exactly complaining, it's not often you get to see him look so content and carefree. It fills you with a sense of self-satisfaction that he feels comfortable enough around you to lose the ginormous stick up his ass personality he generally keeps up around most people.
You know you're also laughing way to hard right now, but you've also made a mess on the floor and Katsuki in between cackles comes to your side to help wipe up the sauce that was spilled from your poor attempts at wielding chopsticks.
"It's ok, you can admit I won now."
Katsuki tells you with a smug grin.
You look at him incredulously.
"What are you talking about, this was obviously a tie, — both of us finished the same amount of noodles" you correct.
"Yea but obviously, I'm handling it way better than you are, nerd." He objected with an appraising look at the heaving breaths you took and your flushed nose from rubbing it so much.
You snicker a little because for all his talk, he's honestly not faring much better, with his cheeks all flushed and the constant sniffing.
You reach out and gently wipe a bit of sauce staining the corner of his mouth. He playfully sticks his tongue out and licks your thumb before you have a chance to retreat, laughing when you gasp scandalously and smiling boyishly at you in a way that makes your heart feel like it's filling with soda bubbles.
He uses the moment to really take in your appearance.
Your lips are swollen and a dark red from all the spice.
Eyes shiny from the tears and sparkling under the dim kitchen lights.
You're grinning a little too wide in a way that would absolutely make yourself cringe if you could see yourself.
And Katsuki really thinks you've never looked prettier in his life.
In some sort of fit, he suddenly reaches forwards and tangles his fingers into your hair and pulls your towards him.
the burn of his mouth on yours is almost more potent than the still lingering taste of the spicy noodles on your tongue.
You make a quiet noise of surprise and brace yourself with a hand on his thigh and on the cabinet next to you.
He pulls away just enough to watch you, your chests heaving, the brief kiss more than enough to steal the breath from both your lungs.
Once again that familiar scarlet consumed all your attention and you couldn't help but fall into him as he pulls you closer.
You meet him half way this time and you shiver when he groans into your mouth.
He wastes no time slipping his tongue past your lips and you can taste the way he feels and the way he licks into you has you reeling.
You're still a little lightheaded from the laughing and the spice and it's too much for you to stop your body from trembling when he holds you.
The realization crosses your mind, that you're sitting on the floor of your kitchen, making out with one of your closest friends, and you wonder when the line between friendship and something more had started to blur because it obviously had if you're in the position you're in now.
This time you pull away, a little embarrassed that your first kiss with Katsuki was when you tasted like Extra Spicy Masala Maggi noodles, but in a way it was perfect and you knew you were never going to be able to forget it.
Still, you can't look at him, turning your face to the side and closing your eyes when he dips his head low to catch your gaze.
He snickers lowly at your reaction and that only heightens your embarrassment, feeling the tips of your ears go hot.
You feel his lips meet your cheek, not gently at all, smushing up into your face with aggressive affection.
"Now will you admit I win?"

"i love you, i'm sorry"

in his world, love leaves behind traces.
be it dejection that gnaws at him, and wraps his heart in sorrow or your lips that press against him, finding home in his scarred skin. all of the little things that shaped him into being—they all track back to you.
gradually, over time, with every gesture of affection exchanged, he fell. his once sleepless nights were cured by lying beside you, and eventually, he peacefully dozed off. that is until morning arrived, the sun greeting him as her rays seeped through the curtains, which made him rise.
alas, bathing in bliss only lasted for so long. the love that streamed through his veins and was pumped into his heart, was daring to spill; aventurine knew that confessing his love to you would come with its consequences. there were rules he set up for himself, but after all, he is no more than a pathological sinner—an individual long forsaken by the gods that reign this world—a helpless soul.
despite harboring feelings for you, he kept those blooming emotions to himself; confined in the depths of his heart.
so as much as he loved you, it hurt just as much to let you go; leave you behind with no words that offered an explanation for his leaving.
aventurine’s foundation was built upon being alone—disappearing without leaving a trace has always been in his nature. having to leave and being left behind was nothing new. he was a natural.
eventually, the traces you left behind, etched into his very being, washed away.
kakavasha was a lonely child. the word company has always felt foreign on his tongue, at least when he had to say it aloud in a language other than his own.
presumably, that’s why he felt strangely weak in your hold. how you always persistently, almost desperately, buried your nails into his skin and held him tight—not wanting to let go as if you knew that he’d leave one day; silently slip from your grasp.
it was to be expected that you wouldn’t reach out anymore—he made you leave.
(it’s for the better he thinks. after all, if you would’ve marched further into his heart you would’ve seen what was hidden in the depths of it—someone with no strong ambitions, and there’d be no point of return. aventurine wouldn’t make a good lover, he’s both too selfish and selfless no in between.)
there hasn’t ever been a verbal confirmation that the two of you were in a relationship. everyone around him, including you just assumed that the two of you were together
but he can’t blame them. all the spare items in his apartment, ranging from a mere toothbrush to items like skincare or using the same candles as you, that’d help you feel more at home. arriving at work together and subtly flirting in the elevator when others were around or kissing in the copy room, weren’t casual things that friends did.
aventurine thought it was easier that way, simply because the thought of putting labels on your relationship felt strange. to him, it felt like a heavy shackle bound to his feet, preventing him from being free.
so why is he now standing at your front door, waiting like a prisoner on death row for their judgment to come?
there’s a faint squeak as you open the door and aventurine shoves his left hand into the pocket of his coat, fiddling with the flower-shop bill.
before aventurine knows it; and can fully comprehend the solemnity of the situation, you stand in front of him, as beautiful as ever.
“hi,” aventurine breathes out, and only now does he realize how much he’s missed seeing you. instead of answering your gaze drifts over his figure and his surroundings.
he feels hot under your watchful gaze, his body suddenly heating up, and clothes sickly sticking to his skin. “so? what’s your business?” your eyes land on the bouquet of lilies and gardenias he's gripping tightly,  slightly wrinkling the wrapping paper by doing so.
countless thoughts are running through his head. may i come in? can we talk? i wanted to apologi—
“i love you, i’m sorry.”
his voice croaks and suddenly he feels small. the gut-wrenching feeling of fear that stirred in his stomach whenever you were around made him vulnerable and submissive. it made him bolder—more reckless with his way of words. they twisted and twirled on his tongue, and ultimately something else slipped out. (the truth)
the dismissive sound you make crawls into aventurine’s ears like a parasite creeping on his skin, causing him pain. “you say that after playing a game of push-and-pull with me? aventurine do you hear yourself?” you huff laughingly. “don’t do this to me. i can’t go through this once again,” you express with bitterness in your voice. “you’ll just hurt the both of us.” your tone is meek, but aventurine can hear the strain in your voice and he feels his stomach drop.
he exhales and musters the courage to say something. “i know that this is sudden, moreover, i know that i’ve been beyond horrible to you,” aventurine admits, and he swallows. “i want to apologize. my first apology is that i never apologized sooner.” he diverts his gaze to the ground, head facing the floor like a prisoner being escorted.
he’s sure that at this point the stems of the flowers he’s bought for you are already kinked from clutching them so hard in his hand. “so, may i come in? i’ll tell you everything. i promise.” aventurine doesn’t dare to look up, at least not yet.
“calling me, whenever you needed me like i’m a pet who listens to every command, whispering sweet nothings into my ear as if you were coaxing me into believing something that was untruthful from the very beginning, and—” frustratedly, you ball your hands into fists. “listen. everything i told you was honest. yes i wasn’t ready for a relationship but that doesn't mean that i didn’t love you.” aventurine forces himself to look up, but immediately regrets it upon seeing your hurt face.
nevertheless, he continues. “i’m still hung up on the past. the thought of being with someone and promising myself to stay with them and committing my time, my life, and my very being scares me. it doesn’t excuse my behavior and actions, no, but i hope that this helps you understand me better.”
“i'm sorry that i didn't confide you in this any sooner. I was scared that you too would leave me. so i thought that if i’d leave first, it wouldn’t hurt as much. but i was wrong, my heart fucking aches when i’m not with you.” he cringes at how fake this sounds. but he’s more bothered about the fact that his heart isn’t only twinging when not with you, but it also might jump out of his ribcage, right here, right now.
you bite down on your bottom lip and contemplate. it's faint and if aventurine hadn’t paid attention, he’d have missed it. the way you mutter dumbass under your breath.” forget it,” you sigh as if reaching your breaking point. “just come in.”
this time, you fully open the door to him and he feels a wave of relief washing over him. “you’ve always been a mystery to me kakavasha.” you whisper, and aventurine’s lips form into a small smile as he trails and follows behind you, into your home.
a mystery, you say?
aventurine makes a promise to himself as he places the flowers into the glass vase you provided him. this time he’d be completely honest with you. about everything and anything.
so here it is — his heart laid bare.

end note: who am i kidding. if he came back to me pleading id also take him back.

also tagging @azullumi because at this point it'd be weird not to do this. i just want to thank you azul. thank you for being an amazing friend. thinking back, i used to have much worse communication skills. avoiding the ones around me or never voicing my problems aloud. but you giving me advice has genuinely inspired and impacted me so much. simply because i wanted to be so much like you cause i looked up to you so much and i still do. and recently those efforts of trying to better my social skills have paid off (kind of). I've become better and more mindful when it comes to people addressing their problems they have with me and thus trying to reflect and change my behavior. but I'm also able to talk about the things that bother me better now, simply because i took your advice. azul you understand me like no other. you take the words out of my mouth and are able to form such beautiful sentences i could never even think of. honestly your way with words is what enamors me the most about you.

what about reader comes home with an entirely different hair colour (for arcane characters) 💛💛
This is such a fun idea! This is how each character would react if the reader came home with a completely new hair color:
————————————————————————
Jinx
Jinx would flip when she sees you walk through the door with a new hair color. She’d be so hyper about it, her eyes wide with excitement as she zooms over to inspect your hair, her mind racing with a thousand chaotic thoughts.
“What is this?! This is amazing!!” Jinx would say, bouncing around you in circles. “You look like a whole new person, and I love it! What do we call this color? I need it for one of my bombs!”
She’d spend the next few hours trying to match your new hair color to all her gadgets, constantly admiring you with a gleeful grin. “I’m jealous! Look at you! This is gonna drive everyone crazy!”
Vi
Vi would blink in surprise when she first sees you, not sure if she’s seeing things. She’d run a hand through her own hair and chuckle, making her way toward you.
“Whoa, that’s… bold. I like it though. You look good, real good,” she’d say, stepping closer to get a better look. “Makes you look even fiercer. But, uh, how’s the new color feel? You feel different?”
Vi would be all about how confident you are in your new look. She might even ask if she can try it out for fun next time, because she’s feeling inspired by your boldness.
Sevika
Sevika would give you a slow, assessing look when you walk in. She wouldn’t be the type to show too much excitement, but there’s a clear flicker of approval in her eyes.
“You always look good,” she’d say, her voice low but full of admiration. “But I’ll admit, that’s a bit unexpected. I like it. Definitely makes a statement.”
Sevika would then casually run a hand through her own hair and add, “Just make sure you don’t draw too much attention. People might get the wrong idea.” But underneath that protective edge, she’d secretly love how you stand out.
Silco
Silco is all about control, so when he sees your new hair, his first instinct is to process the change. He might pause, his gaze scanning you with that sharp, intense focus. After a beat, he’d give you a small, approving nod.
“Bold choice,” he’d say, his tone smooth. “I do enjoy someone who isn’t afraid to stand out.”
He’d approach you, placing a hand on your shoulder, and murmur, “Just make sure it doesn’t draw unnecessary attention. But with you… I trust it’s all part of your plan.” Silco would be fascinated by how much confidence you exude with your new look.
Vander
Vander would blink a couple of times, surprised by the drastic change. But after a few moments, his face would break into a soft smile, his heart swelling with pride.
“You’re always beautiful, no matter the color,” he’d say gently, stepping closer to admire you. “But I’ve gotta admit, this is a change I wasn’t expecting. Looks like you’re embracing your individuality.”
Vander would reach out and brush a strand of your new hair behind your ear, clearly fond of how you embrace your own unique style.
Ekko
Ekko would be caught off guard at first, eyes widening when he sees you walk in with an entirely different hair color. Then he’d break into an awed smile, his usual cool demeanor slipping for a second.
“Whoa, you look like you just stepped out of a dream!” he’d exclaim, stepping closer to you. “Seriously, how’d you pull that off? You look amazing!”
Ekko would spend the next few minutes asking you about the process and maybe even trying to figure out how he could pull off a new look too. “I gotta admit, you look even more like a legend now. How do you keep doing this?”
Jayce
Jayce might not be overly emotional about it at first, but the moment he sees your new hair color, his eyes brighten with admiration.
“That’s… different. But in a good way!” Jayce would say, his voice full of genuine curiosity. “You pull it off really well. Makes you stand out even more. You were already striking, but now?”
He’d take a step closer, maybe even run a hand through your hair, and add, “Definitely suits you. You’re always full of surprises.”
Viktor
Viktor would tilt his head in curiosity when he first sees you, clearly intrigued by the change. He’s used to seeing things in a different light, so this new look would be something that fascinates him.
“An interesting choice, but you wear it well,” Viktor would say, adjusting his glasses. “It suits your personality—bold, unconventional… yet undeniably you.”
Viktor would be a bit shy about touching your hair, but he’d eventually run his fingers through it, intrigued by the softness and the new feel. “I’d love to study how you’re able to make such a striking change with ease. You’ve always been captivating.”
Caitlyn
Caitlyn would smile warmly when she sees you with your new hair color. She would love how bold you are in expressing yourself, and she’d find herself admiring you even more.
“I think it looks perfect on you,” she’d say, reaching out to touch a strand of your hair. “It’s not the color that makes you stunning, it’s your confidence. But this color? It just adds to your already unique beauty.”
Caitlyn would definitely want to show you off to others, completely unafraid of how people might stare. She’d be proud to be with someone so brave and unapologetically themselves.
Mel Medarda
Mel would be intrigued and impressed by your new look. She values elegance and power, and she can immediately see how this new hair color is a reflection of your strength.
“It suits you,” she’d say, her voice cool but sincere. “It’s a striking choice. I must admit, I didn’t expect this from you, but it works.”
Mel would be the type to get up close, fingers gently brushing through your hair as she admires the way it complements your features. “No matter what color it is, you will always stand out. That’s one thing I admire about you.”
Ambessa Medarda
Ambessa would take one look at you and nod with approval, clearly impressed by your boldness. She doesn’t show much surprise but is clearly fond of how you’re unafraid to push boundaries.
“You’ve got a way of making any change look like it’s meant to be,” Ambessa would say, crossing her arms and surveying you with a calculated gaze. “I see the power in this choice. It suits you.”
She’d be less overtly affectionate, but she’d definitely respect the confidence you exude with your new look. Ambessa would also see it as another sign of your strength.
Maddie Nolen
Maddie would gasp in delight when she first sees you, her eyes lighting up with excitement. “That’s… it’s so you!” she’d say, grinning as she walks over to you. “It’s like you were made for this color.”
She’d give you a big hug, absolutely thrilled about your bold choice. “Honestly, I couldn’t imagine you with anything else now! You look amazing!”
Maddie would be the type to gush over your hair, constantly asking to touch it and comment on how perfect it looks on you. She’s just so in awe of your confidence and beauty.
Lest
Lest wouldn’t be the type to make a big deal out of it, but she’d immediately notice the change and give you a slow, appreciative nod.
“You’re a woman of mystery, aren’t you?” Lest would smirk, her tone playful. “It suits you. I like how you make everything look effortless.”
She’d get up close, lightly brushing a lock of your hair behind your ear. “No matter what you do, you always manage to catch my attention. You look even more stunning now.”

Okay I know we all joke about how the Star Trek First Contact handshake is accidentally a kiss, but the more I think about it, the more I feel it actually works in-universe and elevates the scene.
There are dozens of sci fi stories where first contact is fumbled based on a misunderstanding and it turns into a massive war. Babylon 5, Ender's Game, several Star Trek episodes in fact. Two different peoples meet but are just a bit too different and we murder each other over nothing. That's just how it goes, right? Realistic, if depressing.
And in Star Trek's first human contact, everything is set up for a fumble. Cochrane is an engineer with zero political skills, and while the Vulcans who come in have at least learned English they're far from an official diplomatic envoy. Earth is not in great shape and they've no idea aliens even exist, so there's a chance for tension. And when the captain does the traditional salute, the human can't even move his fingers into the right configuration, and instead offers his hand. In Vulcan terms, this is about the equivalent of offering a handshake and the other guy wants to shove his tongue down your throat. Plenty of room for disgust, misunderstanding, conflict, another warning about the dangers of difference.
But that isn't what happens. The Vulcan captain sees this and accepts it, reaching out to complete the gesture. He doesn't fully understand what's happening, but he saw Cochrane at least try to do the Vulcan salute, so he chooses to assume the best of him. To meet him where he's at, even if it's a bit awkward for him personally. And it works out. He and his crew are invited for drinks and music, and the dominoes are instead sent towards ending humanity's dark age and starting the Federation. All because the Vulcan captain saw past what could have been an insult and gave humanity the benefit of the doubt.
Star Trek is not a perfect universe where human-Vulcan first contact goes 100% smoothly. Star Trek is a universe where first contact is nearly a diplomatic incident, but they're able to move past that and create something better because both sides chose to be open-minded and compassionate. It might not be (fully, the scene is meant to be a bit awkward but not that awkward) intended, but damn if it doesn't work.

What if... Scaramouche cucking Kabukimono
(meanwhile in a parallel universe)
You never thought in a million years that it would be possible for someone to actually defeat The Traveler. But it finally happened.
And Scaramouche had finally completed his life's ambition and become the Everlasting Lord of Arcane Wisdom.
But it STILL wasn't good enough for him. Something inside of him still burned with an unquenchable thirst for vengeance. Yet he didn't understand why.
Had he not achieved everything he set out to do?
Why was he still so... unsatisfied?
And then he remembered you one night.
You who had fought so bravely until you had been dealt a near fetal blow that had caused you to become comatose and unaware of the deaths of your old friends. You who had been clever in your attacks and almost just as underhanded as him sometimes.
Scaramouche could respect it.
A little.
Your martial prowess was often overshadowed by your disgusting and burdensome sensitivity.
You didn't want to hurt people.
Not if you didn't have to anyway.
It was your weakness and eventual downfall. Because after hearing Scaramouche's own life story and sympathizing with him, you were hesitant in finishing him off like you should have.
And he had seized the opportunity.
Emotions were a scourge on the face of humanity. Making them irrational. Making them weak.
You were no exception it seemed.
At least he, in all his wisdom and glory could understand this and overcome it.
Even if it was hard sometimes.
Scaramouche continued to imagine you, scared, confused, mournful, angry, and utterly alone in your cell beneath the sanctuary. He wanted to laugh at your circumstance or at least belittle you in his mind, but that same burning and nagging feeling ended up preventing him from doing so.
What was wrong with him?
Did he perhaps... feel bad for you?
Why?
You and that pesky traveler had been nothing but a thorn in his side since the day you met.
So why, now that he had won. Had locked you away until you were healthy enough to be tried by law, did he continuously have dreams about your teary face? The deep sorrow that probably plagued your heart after learning that your friends were gone?
Why did Scaramouche... feel like he was experiencing some kind of deja vu whenever he pictured you all alone with no one to turn to?
It was that original sin of his wasn't it?
The very same feeling of empathy that had besmirched his very being since the day of his creation.
Why wouldn't it die?
It needed to.
But alas...the spirit of his former self lived on inside of Scaramouche's mind like a parasite.
And he hated how YOU triggered it.
It took a few weeks for Scaramouche to finally come up with a plan to solve both of his problems.
First was to extract the essence of his former consciousness and self via an abyssal reach that only a god could ever hope to accomplish. It had exhausted him in doing so.
But the results were better than ideal.
Secondly, use the knowledge of the world at his disposal as well as what he could remember about himself and his own inner workings to create another vessel for the extracted consciousness.
And lastly, order some attendants to retrieve you from your prison cell below and bring you to him somewhat sedated and pumped full of some new drug that had been created by the fatui for torture purposes.
Once Scaramouche laid eyes on the perfect physical replica/clone of Kabukimono as well as a half conscious and drooling you on the floor, he knew that he would leave this room with there being no more doubt in the world,
That Scaramouche was truly the most powerful being in existence.
***Time Skip***
You sit awkwardly as the machine beneath you brought you to orgasm for the 6th time in a row. The giant purple dildo thrusts in and out of your soaking wet pussy quickly, assaulting your g spot repeatedly whether you liked it or not.
All the while, the monster who had you injected with powerful aphrodisiacs and sedatives was just watching the sybian destroy your cunt with a sick delight in his eyes. You wanted to yell at him through your ball gag but instead you just continued to moan loudly as you felt yourself piss again. Even then the machine didn't stop.
Scaramouche laughed coldly as he grew bored of you and soon turned to face his former self who he had bound in a similar fashion to you just a few feet away. Kabukimono's arms were pulled tightly behind his back. Secured to his ankles, forcing his legs apart.
Scaramouche couldn't stand the pitiful and obvious longing in those eyes. Especially when he heard you scream or cry through your gag. Kabukimono's eyes would widen even more. Torn between wanting to help you, and also wanting to take you.
It was no mistake. Scaramouche knew this because even if he DID find you detestable at best, as far as human women went, you had quite a soft and sensual body that just BEGGED for someone to ravage it.
Scaramouche had considered setting it up many times in the past. Making it to where his subordinates distracted your annoying companions while he had his way with your pretty body secretly.
But he has fought those needless and lowly desires instead.
However seeing the lust in the eyes of Kabukimono, made him realize that perhaps, this attraction to you was something that he couldn't fight. Something that even his most inexperienced form was feeling whether he understood what it meant yet or not.
And if this was true, then Scaramouche would conquer these feelings too. He'd keep you as a fuck doll for himself and at the same time, show this annoying and pesky version of himself that HE was stronger.
And HE was in charge here.
Scaramouche walked over and after casting Kabukimono a withering look, he began to press his sandal against Kabukimono's shaft. Forcing his hardened cock to be uncomfortably crushed against the ground underneath Scaramouche's foot.
Kabukimono whimpered as tears began to leak from his eyes and his nipples hardened. He was aroused from the pain and Scaramouche couldn't help but feel nothing but disgust towards him for it.
"you want the girl huh?"
Kabukimono nodded quickly. His own gag stifled his voice as he groaned slightly at the sensation of Scaramouche putting more of his weight down on his dick.
"Too bad. You seriously think I would let YOU have her before ME? That I'd let you fuck her with this useless cock of yours that gets off from being crushed?"
Scaramouche chuckled wickedly. Seeing Kabukimono blush a little as he heard you cry out again. His eyes fixated on the dildo as it stretched you apart and kept you in such a lewd position with your juices coating the floor beneath you for all to see.
Scaramouche couldn't stand it.
He crouched down and grabbed hold of Kabukimono's cock. Roughly stroking it then to the pace of the toy penetrating you in front of him.
"you wish that was your cock fucking her right? Tearing her apart and making her cum?" Scaramouche taunted. Continuing to pull several soft moans from his former self as he continued to pump his own cock.
"Do you even know HOW to use this pathetic thing yet? I doubt it. That machine isn't even real and it's better than this thing between your legs."
Kabukimono's back arched a little as artificial semen suddenly squirted from his dick. Coating Scaramouche's hand. Scaramouche narrowed his eyes in disgust as he tried to shake the stuff off.
"pathetic. You actually ejaculated from that? Oh how pitiful I truly was." Scaramouche got to his feet and turned back to you. Your head had slumped back a little and tears leaked out from underneath your blindfold as another orgasm was ripped from your body. He watched you gasp and tremble as you remained helpless in your bondage. A sadistic gleam filling his indigo eyes as another idea suddenly came to him.
He knelt down again and reached out to tease your swollen clit a little as he spoke.
"get used to it doll. I could make it hurt worse. However, if you behave during the next game I have planned for you, I'll make you feel better than anyone else ever could ~" Scaramouche purred. His touch makes you squeal as you try to fight back another climax but fail miserably.
"so fragile. So many ways I could make you crumble and break. I wonder if...I could somehow make this part even more sensitive."
You feel him pinch your pleasure nub between your legs and you struggle to not pass out. What was this bastard planning next for you and his other self?

Here’s the thing. Arcane season 2 was finished being written back in 2020. It was completed before the first season of Arcane even aired on Netflix in the first place. Before they even knew if it was going to be a hit or not. Before any of the fans had hot takes about the characters.
Which means that all of these “new subplots” (such as the black rose) weren’t just added in on a whim. They have an intentional purpose in the story they’re trying to tell.
It also means that the pacing was always going to increase and become faster as the two seasons went on.
I think a lot of fans are coming at this show from the perspective of a lot of live action shows where the writers see how fans respond to certain things so they add them into the story or focus on fan favorites to grab your attention and keep you engaged. And live action shows can do this because they’re filmed relatively close to when the series airs and so they’re aware of what the reactions are on social media (for good or ill).
But this is animation. Very TIME CONSUMING animation at that. It took 4 years to finish animating the 9 episodes of Season 2. If you include the 6 years of development and production of Season 1, that’s almost a full DECADE of working on this show.
My point is that they literally (and logistically) can’t respond to fan input and make changes in the show based on the way it was received on social media. Like it or not, these specific characters beats and storylines were always the plan from the start.
This is a long winded way of trying to say… if you have problems with the way certain characters are behaving, or certain plot points feeling rushed, or feel overwhelmed by the number of added subplots that need to get resolved before the end of the show… I strongly suggest rather than saying the writing is “bad” or that the writers “don’t know what they’re doing” or just complain about anything really… I suggest you take a step back and ask yourself “why are these the stories and actions they chose for this 2 season arc?”
I think that’s a far more productive thing to do than to go online and whine about things you didn’t like. I find it’s better to try and understand WHY they chose to do these things rather than write them off. More often than not when you look into the why, or try to come up with reasons why the writers would take certain characters down the paths they do, you end up coming out appreciating the media more. Even if you still don’t were with their narrative choices, learning and understanding the WHY is far more rewarding I think.
I’ll give you an example of something I don’t like, but that I understand why. Isha. I don’t like that Isha was introduced and then killed off in the latest episode. If I were to look at it just from a surface level reading, it seems pointless to add this cute mute kid character only to take her away a few episodes later. But NARRATIVELY she’s extraordinarily important. She is what Jinx needed to become more empathetic to her sister and reach out to fix their family. She helps push Jinx into the role of Vander for season 2. And her heroically framed sacrifice is probably going to be the push Jinx needs to stop trying to commit suicide.
Would I have liked to see more of her and Jinx’s relationship? Yes. Would I liked to have learned more about where she came from and why she’s mute? Yes. But at the end of the day, this is not a show about Isha. Isha is a narrative device to help forward the character development of Jinx. And so, while I do not like that she sacrificed herself… I understand it. And that understanding helps me appreciate the writing and the level of depth the writers are willing to go to push their characters around where they need to be by the end of the series.
At the end of the day, Arcane is just another show on Netflix. It is not beyond criticism. There are a lot of legitimate criticisms you can have against the show. But I’ve found that recently the number of bad takes and people refusing to engage with the narrative has resulted in a bit of a backlash against the show and I do not think that’s ultimately very productive. Please… if you’re going to criticize the show, please try to do better than just write off anything you don’t like as “the writers just suck” or “they changed X character for no reason!”
Because I guarantee you, there IS a reason for everything in this show. No matter how small and trivial it might be, this show was put together with love and an extraordinary attention to detail. There are reasons for why characters do and say the things they say. The writers often make these into intentional parallels, foreshadowing, and callbacks.
Please… take the time to actually stop and dissect what you see. Even something upsets you. I implore you… try to understand why. Try to understand what the writers are saying. Try to understand how certain plot points and events could have a bearing on different characters.
Please just…. Try?

Satoru: Runaway
The traditional bride’s suite of the Gojo estate felt like a prison, the air thick and oppressive despite the delicate floral fragrance drifting in from the gardens outside. You sat alone, knees pulled to your chest on the cool tatami mats, staring at the wedding dress hanging before you.
It was exquisite, almost unreal, with its delicate embroidery shimmering like frost under the soft glow of the lanterns. Diamonds dotted the fabric like stars in an unreachable sky. A dream, or maybe a nightmare.
Your stomach twisted painfully as you stared at it, the weight of expectation pressing down on your shoulders.
You couldn’t do this.
Your eyes flickered between the dress and the pile of old street clothes folded beside your duffle bag. Jeans you’d had for years, worn sneakers that carried the dust of too many steps, and a wrinkled shirt that smelled faintly of detergent and familiarity. They looked so out of place, in this room of silks and luxury. But they were you.
Not this.
The whispers you’d heard in the halls played over and over in your mind, cruel and biting.
“She doesn’t belong here.”
“She can’t even see cursed energy. What was he thinking?”
“She’s an orphan—how disgraceful.”
The elders’ words cut even deeper, spoken directly to you during the endless dinners and meetings. They didn’t even try to hide their disdain. You weren’t a person to them. You were a body, a vessel, someone to carry the next Gojo heir. Nothing more.
Your gaze dropped to the diamond ring on your finger. It sparkled too brightly, almost mocking. It felt heavy. Wrong.
You thought of Satoru then. His smile when he wasn’t performing for the world, when it was just you and him in the quiet moments. The way he’d pull you into his arms without warning, burying his face in your hair as though he could lose himself in you. His infectious laughter when you’d beat him at a game, how he’d sulk for all of two seconds before grinning like he didn’t have a care in the world.
In those moments, he wasn’t Gojo Satoru, the strongest sorcerer alive. He was just… Satoru. Just yours.
But reality was cruel. Because he was Gojo Satoru. And he didn’t belong to you. He belonged to the world, a man too big, too powerful, to be truly yours.
And you? You didn’t belong here.
The tears came before you could stop them, silent and hot as they slipped down your cheeks. You stood on shaky legs, your heart pounding as you packed your bag, folding your wrinkled clothes with trembling hands. You hesitated only once—your fingers brushing against the engagement ring before you slipped it off. It felt cold as you placed it into a small box, a faint ache spreading through your chest like a crack splitting your heart in two.
The garden was quiet as you slipped outside, the weight of the duffle bag on your shoulder grounding you. The cool night air kissed your skin, carrying with it the faint scent of flowers and the soft rustle of leaves. You kept to the shadows, moving quickly, every step feeling heavier than the last.
The gate was just ahead, the exit you’d memorized. You could picture his face already—Satoru’s shock when he realized you were gone. The way his bright blue eyes would widen, the playful spark in them extinguished by the weight of your absence. You could imagine the crack in his voice as he said your name, his confusion morphing into heartbreak.
Your chest tightened, but you pushed forward. This was better. This was kinder. Staying would destroy you both in the end.
Your hand reached for the gate’s latch, your fingers trembling as they brushed the cold metal.
Then—warmth.
A hand closed around your wrist, firm yet gentle, and your heart plummeted as you froze in place.
“Don't.”
Suguru: Two broken souls.
The dining room was silent, save for the faint creak of the wooden chair you shifted on. The room felt colder than usual, the morning light filtering through the thin curtains casting long, muted shadows across the table. Your hands were wrapped around the coffee cup, not for the warmth, but for the grounding weight of it. You didn’t dare look at Suguru. Not yet.
He leaned against the windowsill, his profile half-illuminated by the pale light of day. The cigarette in his hand burned lazily, the ash threatening to fall with each shallow exhale. He stared out at the sprawling Tokyo skyline, though you doubted he was really seeing it. His free hand rested in his pocket, his fingers twitching now and then, betraying an agitation he didn’t care to voice.
The words sat heavy in your throat, clinging there like shards of glass. You wanted to swallow them back down, bury them where they couldn’t resurface. But they came anyway, trembling and fractured.
“I’m sorry—” you began, the words barely audible over the sound of your heart pounding in your ears. You hesitated. What could you possibly say to fix this? Could anything even be fixed? “I’m sorry for last night. I didn’t mean it.”
He didn’t move. For a moment, you wondered if he even heard you. But then, he turned his head slightly, just enough for you to catch a glimpse of his expression. His dark eyes were unreadable, heavy with something you couldn’t name—anger, regret, or perhaps just exhaustion.
“You always say that,” he muttered, his voice low and hoarse, as if the words were dragged from some deep, painful place. He brought the cigarette to his lips, took a long drag, and exhaled slowly, letting the smoke curl out into the cold November air. “We both do.”
His words hung between you like an accusation, and maybe they were. You weren’t sure if you could argue against it. Last night had been another one of those fights—the kind that left you both gutted, wondering if the love you shared was even still there, or if it had been eroded by the years of unresolved pain and festering wounds.
“You’re right,” you whispered, your voice cracking under the weight of it all. “We keep saying things we don’t mean, but... maybe some part of us does.”
That caught his attention. Suguru turned to face you fully, the cigarette forgotten as it smoldered between his fingers. His gaze bore into you, searching for something in your face, your eyes, your slumped posture. He looked tired—not just physically, but soul-deep, like a man who had carried the weight of too many things for far too long.
“That’s what you think?” he asked, his voice soft, almost disbelieving. “That I meant it? That I wanted to hurt you?”
You flinched, the memory of his words from the night before hitting you like a freight train. You’ll never become a mother. You’ll never be a wife. You’ll never be good enough. The bitterness in his voice, the sharp edge of his tone—it had all felt too real in the moment, too pointed to be anything but the truth.
“I don’t know what to think anymore,” you admitted, your fingers tightening around the mug. “Maybe you did. Or maybe I deserved it.”
His brows furrowed, a flicker of frustration passing over his face. He stubbed the cigarette out on the windowsill, the gesture harsh and final. “You didn’t deserve that,” he said firmly, his voice carrying an edge of anger. At himself, or at you, you weren’t sure.
“Then why did you say it?” you shot back, your own frustration bubbling to the surface. “Why do we keep doing this, Suguru? Hurting each other over and over, like it’s the only thing we know how to do?”
His jaw clenched, and for a moment, he didn’t answer. He looked away, his gaze falling to the floor. The silence stretched, heavy and suffocating, until he finally spoke.
“Because it’s easier than admitting that we’re falling apart,” he said quietly. “That we’ve been falling apart for a long time.”
The words hit you like a punch to the gut, and you had to bite down on the sob that threatened to escape. He was right, of course. You both knew it. The love that had once been your sanctuary, your safe harbor, had become something unrecognizable—something jagged and painful, like the shards of that broken picture frame.
“I wanted forever with you,” you said, your voice trembling as tears blurred your vision. “I wanted to build a life with you, Suguru. I wanted to believe we could fix each other, that we could be happy together. But... I don’t know how to reach you anymore.”
His shoulders sagged, and he took a hesitant step toward you, his hand hovering in the air like he wanted to touch you but didn’t know if he was allowed to. “You don’t have to fix me,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. “You never did. And maybe... maybe that’s the problem. We were trying so hard to fix each other that we forgot how to just be together.”
The words cut through you, raw and honest, and you felt your tears spill over. You didn’t know if this was the end for you and Suguru, or if there was still something worth salvaging. But in that moment, as the two of you stood there, broken and bleeding in ways neither of you could fully understand, you realized that love wasn’t always enough. Sometimes, it was the cracks that swallowed everything whole.
Nanami: Somebody always gets hurt.
The smell of freshly brewed coffee teased you awake, mingling with the faint warmth of the sun filtering through the curtains. You stirred, eyes fluttering open as a soft kiss brushed against your lips. His kiss. His scent—clean, comforting—lingered close.
Your gaze landed on the man beside you, golden hair tousled and framing his sharp features. Nanami Kento stood with a tray in hand, your favorite latte and a neatly wrapped pastry perched on it. He noticed your awakening and offered a rare, gentle smile, one that softened the usually stern planes of his face.
“What’s all this?” you murmured with a sleepy laugh, sitting up and pulling the sheets higher around you.
“Just thought you needed a little pick-me-up,” he said, his voice warm and steady as he handed you the coffee. Then, as if it were the most natural thing in the world, he reached out and tucked a stray strand of hair behind your ear, his touch lingering for just a moment. “Figured I might’ve been a bit rough on you last night.”
That soft smile. That tender tone. You couldn’t look at him for long.
Your own smile faltered, just barely. This wasn’t supposed to happen. It wasn’t supposed to feel like this.
“Ken…” you started, your voice catching on the lump in your throat. You shook your head quickly, forcing yourself to sit straighter, to steel yourself. “I—I can’t do this anymore.”
The words felt heavier than they should have, like they were dragging your chest down with them.
He stilled. His hand, still resting near your cheek, fell away. “What do you mean?” he asked quietly, confusion etched into his expression.
“This.” You gestured between the two of you, suddenly needing to put space between your body and his. “Whatever this is, it can’t keep happening. I’m not—I can’t be the person you want me to be.”
The words hung in the air, and for a moment, he just stared at you, as though trying to decipher the meaning behind them. Then his lips parted, his brows furrowing ever so slightly.
“We’re not seeing other people,” he began, his voice calm but with an edge of urgency. “We spend time together. We go on dates. If it’s about the label—”
“It’s not about a label,” you interrupted, your tone sharper than you meant it to be. You had to stop him. If he kept listing every reason this should work, you’d break. “Kento, you don’t understand. I don’t want this. I don’t want you.”
I bite when I get scared. I don't want to get hurt.
The lie tasted bitter on your tongue, but it needed to be said. You couldn’t let him in, not when you knew how this would end. People like you didn’t let themselves love, didn’t let themselves be loved.
He blinked, the words hitting him like a physical blow. His face didn’t crumble—it was Nanami Kento, after all—but the subtle cracks in his composure were there: the way his jaw tightened, the slight drop of his gaze, the minute shake of his hand as he set the tray on the nightstand.
“You don’t mean that,” he said, his voice quieter now, almost a whisper. “You’re scared. I get that. But we can work through this. Together.”
You almost caved. Almost. His sincerity, his steadfastness, his belief in you—it was so achingly, painfully him.
But you couldn’t.
“Kento, I don’t want to be your girlfriend,” you said, the coldness in your tone barely masking the pain simmering underneath. “I don’t love you now, and I never will.”
The air seemed to shift. His expression froze, and for a long moment, he didn’t move, didn’t breathe.
You stood, forcing yourself to act quickly before the weight of your words crushed you. Setting the coffee aside, you began to gather your clothes, refusing to meet his gaze.
“Don’t contact me,” you said, pulling your shirt over your head and turning toward the door.
You didn’t look back. You couldn’t. Because if you did, you’d see the way his walls had crumbled just slightly, the way he was still standing there, his heart in his hands, waiting for you to take it.
And you didn’t deserve it. Not now.
Shoko: You knew what you were getting
The sound of the rain tapping against the window was what pulled you from sleep. Or maybe it was the muffled shuffle of movement beside you. Your eyes cracked open, adjusting to the dim light of the room, and there she was—Shoko Ieiri, slipping on her coat in the faint glow of a lamp.
She looked up when she noticed you stir, her cigarette dangling from the corner of her mouth, the faint scent of smoke mingling with the rain outside.
"Morning," she murmured, her voice low and raspy, softened in the way it always was when she thought you were still half-asleep. She exhaled a thin stream of smoke toward the open window.
“Where are you going?” you asked, your voice still groggy as you sat up, clutching the blanket to your chest.
Shoko paused, her fingers brushing against the pack of cigarettes on the windowsill. For a moment, you thought she might ignore the question entirely, but then she sighed, turning to face you.
“Work,” she said simply. It was always work. Or at least, that’s what she told you.
“You’re always working,” you muttered, trying not to sound bitter, but the weight of your words hung in the air nonetheless.
She gave a small shrug, her expression carefully neutral. “Someone’s got to patch up all the idiots out there. Occupational hazard.”
You looked at her—really looked at her. The way her shoulders sagged ever so slightly under the weight she carried, the way the glow of the streetlights outside painted her face in soft gold and shadow. She was always like this: half in, half out. Never letting you get close enough to understand what was really going on behind those sharp eyes and that devil-may-care smirk.
“Shoko,” you said, her name heavier than you intended, and it made her pause, fingers frozen mid-motion as she reached for her bag. “Do you ever think about... slowing down? About... us?”
She froze, and you could see the way her mask faltered for just a moment, her lips parting as though to respond. But instead, she closed her mouth and looked away, tapping ash into the tray by the window.
“Don’t do this now,” she said softly, almost like a plea.
“Why not?” you pressed, unable to stop yourself. “You barely let me in. I feel like I’m fighting for scraps of your time, for a version of you that isn’t always halfway out the door.”
Her eyes darted to yours, sharp and defensive now, but there was a flicker of something else—something you couldn’t quite name. Regret? Sadness? “You knew what this was,” she said, her voice colder than you expected. “I never promised you anything more.”
The words stung, but it wasn’t like you hadn’t expected them. You’d seen the writing on the wall from the beginning, felt it in the way she kept things casual, kept things easy.
“I don’t want promises,” you said, your voice trembling despite your best efforts to stay composed. “I just want to know if this—if we—mean anything to you.”
Shoko’s shoulders stiffened, and she turned fully toward you, cigarette forgotten as it burned out in the ashtray. Her expression was unreadable, a perfect mask of indifference, but her eyes gave her away. There was a crack in her armor, a flash of something raw and unguarded.
“You mean a lot to me,” she said finally, her voice quieter now, almost pained. “But I don’t think I’m the person you’re looking for. I’m not... enough.”
You blinked, the honesty of her words catching you off guard. For a moment, you thought about telling her she was wrong—that she was enough, that you didn’t need anything more than this. But deep down, you knew you’d both just be lying to yourselves.
“I can’t keep doing this,” you said, your voice barely above a whisper. “I can’t keep waiting for you to decide you want me the way I want you.”
Shoko inhaled sharply, and for a second, it looked like she might argue. But then she nodded, almost imperceptibly, and the look in her eyes made your chest ache.
“I’m sorry,” she said, her voice breaking in a way you’d never heard before. “I really am.”
She grabbed her bag and slipped out the door without another word, leaving behind the faint scent of smoke and rain, and the hollow ache in your chest where she used to be.

Buck could fill a small bakery with the amount he's baked in the past few weeks. He cleaned out the flour shelf at his local corner market, used a coop's worth of eggs, pushed his mixer to the limit, and had his oven working near constantly. Every neighbor on his floor and everyone he's passed in the lobby has had a loaf of some kind left on their doorstep or politely shoved into their hands. Everyone at the station is begging him not to overload them on anymore sugar - they'll take the carb-loaded meals he makes at work but avoid Buck the moment he enters the bay doors with a basket of saran-wrapped sweet bakes.
The worst part is that it's not even working anymore. It never really distracted him enough to not want to call Tommy, just put his hands and head to use for an hour or two at a time so that he couldn't text or call.
But now there's nothing left to bake with. And Eddie is looking at houses in El Paso. And everyone has family to go home to, except for Buck. And every reason he has for not being the one to reach out first goes out the window.
After a few rings, Tommy answers with a questioning: "-Buck?" and it's a gutpunch he doesn't need today but he's already feeling like shit so the pain just gets absorbed into the rest of it.
"H-hey, Tommy." It feels good to say his name under- well, not better circumstances than addressing his broken heart, but something with a bit of tentative hope at least.
And it's good to hear his voice. The voicemails and audio notes and videos from their time together have soothed him and tormented him at different times, but hearing Tommy respond sends a pang of longing through him.
"Um. I-I, uh."
"Are you okay?"
A bitter sound trips its way out of Buck's mouth. "No. No, I-I'm not okay."
"Are you hurt?"
The urgency in Tommy's voice thrills him; he still cares. But Buck doesn't want to misrepresent himself, doesn't want to trick Tommy into caring about what he's going through.
"Guess that depends."
"On what?"
"What kinda hurt you mean."
There's an inhale across the line. "What can I do?"
Tears prick at the corners of Buck's eyes. "I just- need someone to talk to." He doesn't say: even though we're not together anymore, can we still be friends? because even though he's missed Tommy being in his life, he doesn't know if he could be just friends.
"Okay." Buck hears some rustling in the background, footsteps, background noise receding. "I'm here. Talk to me."
Tommy wants to hear what Buck has to say, he always did. So Buck talks. He tells Tommy about Eddie moving away, and Tommy listens. And when it gets too much he tells Tommy about a new niece or nephew of his on the way, and Tommy offers his sincere congratulations. And then he tells Tommy about his baking coping mechanism and Tommy quiets.
So much so that Buck checks to see if the call dropped.
"I'm on my fifth engine," Tommy admit. "I keep taking them apart and putting them back together until they work better than before. But everytime I was done I had to start again, fix another broken thing, because I couldn't fix.."
Buck takes an unsteady breath. Us. "Me."
"No," Tommy says emphatically. "I couldn't fix me. Too broken to be good enough for you."
It's a heartwrenching confession, but Buck feels a smile beneath the tears sneaking down his face. "You don't think I'm broken? Nobody stays for me, Tommy. At some point I gotta realize I'm just not someone people wanna stick around for in the long run."
"Evan.."
Buck breezes over the sound of his name in Tommy's mouth, can't dwell on how good it feels because it won't last. "Guess neither of us are forever guys, huh." His heart, bruised and battered, bleeds a little more. The tears stream freely now. He sniffles, but manages to steady his voice as he says: "I loved you. That was real."
Tommy's breath hitches. "I was a coward."
Buck nods. Cries some more. They're both fucked up.
Tommy hesitates, but then: "I'm off-shift soon. We could.."
He leaves it hanging. There's so many ways Buck could finish that sentence, most of them unbearably hopeful. He doesn't want to stay in his empty apartment anymore. "Yours?" His voice is a little wet. "Maybe I could help you with that engine."
Tommy's breath of amusement is a balm to Buck's aching heart. "You know something about vintage cars I don't?" It's teasing, and gentle, and Buck has missed this.
"Maybe. Maybe trying to do it alone is the problem."
Another breath of laughter, followed by resignation in Tommy's voice. "Yeah. Maybe you're right."
Buck listens to him breathe for a moment: in, out, in..
"I'll meet you at mine."
Buck's poor heart beats a little stronger.
*
It was more than an hour later, of battling crosstown traffic and then letting himself into Tommy's house because Tommy had explicitly told him to use the spare key. They never gotten to the point of swapping keys. That probably should've been a step they didn't skip over. Buck's too-long legs had skipped too many for Tommy's comfort.
He pushes all thoughts of that aside. He's not perfect, he's too much, but Tommy agreed to see him. Tommy wants.. he's not sure.
Buck stands in the little living room, surveying Tommy's space while his mind spirals, heart yoyo-ing between hope and hopelessness. He doesn't know how much time passes when the front door opens and Tommy appears in the entryway.
He looks good. Tired, if the dark circles under his eyes are anything to go by, but good. His hair is a little longer all over, and it suits him. Buck wants to tell him as much but he can't seem to say anything.
Then Tommy says, "Hey," soft and concerned and fond, a sad smile at the corners of his eyes.
And Buck's tears threaten back into his own. "Hey." His voice is watery and brittle.
Tommy's there in three strides, gathering Buck into his arms, and Buck lets himself be wrapped in an embrace. Winds his arms around Tommy and presses into his solid warmth. Breathes him in as the tears come.
He feels safe. Seen. His heart cradled in care the way his body is cradled in Tommy's arms.
Buck takes a deep, steadying inhale of Tommy's scent and pulls back enough to look him in the face. His hands loose their grip at Tommy's shirt, smoothing to palm him through the cotton.
"About that engine.."
Tommy's smile is wide enough to crinkle his eyes in that way Buck loves, with joy etched in the creases.
"I wanna help you, if you'll let me. We could make it work. Together."
Tommy's eyes glisten. His smile breaks into a grin. "I'd like to try that."
buck probably called tommy every chance he got when they were together. driving home from work and stuck in traffic, it’s time to call tommy and tell him about his shift. late night in bed and he’s struggling to fall asleep without him, tommy’s soft voice will lull him to sleep from the other side of the phone. both on shift and the calls had been particularly slow, he will go and sit on the roof with tommy on loud speaker and they will just talk about anything and everything.
and when buck finds out that eddie is thinking about moving back to texas, tommy is the only person who he wants to talk to about it. so he finally gives in and calls. and of course, tommy will answer.

fluff prompt #10: "do you ever think about us like... as more than friends?"
it was quiet in the living room, the kind of quiet that felt rare. the only sounds were the soft hum of the heater and the occasional rustle of your blanket as you shifted on the couch. joshua sat at the other end, his legs stretched out, one arm draped casually over the back of the sofa.
he tried to focus on the movie playing on the tv, but his attention kept wandering. the way your head rested against the cushion, the way your lips curved ever so slightly when something funny happened on screen—even when you weren’t looking at him, you managed to pull his thoughts in your direction.
he didn’t even know when it started. maybe it was the way you always remembered the little things, like how he liked his coffee or which songs he couldn’t resist humming along to. maybe it was the way you laughed, so genuine and bright, it felt like sunshine.
whatever it was, it had been consuming him for months, this question that he couldn’t shake.
“you okay?” your voice broke through his thoughts, soft and warm, pulling him back to the present.
he realized he’d been staring. again.
“yeah,” he said quickly, sitting up straighter. “just... thinking.”
you raised an eyebrow, tilting your head to look at him fully. “about what?”
he hesitated. this was it. he could feel his heart pick up speed, a dull thud against his ribs.
“about us,” he said finally, his voice quieter than he intended.
you blinked, surprise flickering across your face. “us?”
“yeah.” he rubbed the back of his neck, suddenly feeling like every word needed to be chosen carefully. “do you ever think about us... like, as more than friends?”
the question hung in the air, delicate and unspoken for far too long. he couldn’t tell what you were thinking—your expression was unreadable, your eyes searching his face like you were trying to piece together a puzzle.
he felt his chest tighten. maybe he shouldn’t have said anything. maybe—
“sometimes,” you said softly, your voice barely above a whisper.
he froze. “really?”
you nodded, your fingers fidgeting with the edge of your blanket. “i mean, yeah. it’s hard not to, you know? you’re kind of... you.”
his brows furrowed. “what does that mean?”
you let out a nervous laugh, finally meeting his gaze. “it means you’re sweet, and thoughtful, and you always know how to make people feel comfortable. and you just... have this way of making everything better. it’s hard not to think about it sometimes.”
joshua felt his heart swell at your words, warmth spreading through his chest. he hadn’t expected you to say that—not so openly, not so honestly.
“i didn’t think you’d say yes,” he admitted, his lips curving into a shy smile.
you tilted your head, curiosity lighting up your features. “why not?”
“i don’t know,” he said with a soft laugh. “maybe because i was scared you didn’t feel the same way.”
“and now?”
his smile widened, his confidence building with every second that passed. he shifted closer to you, closing the space between you just enough to feel your warmth.
“now i’m wondering if i can ask you out without it being weird,” he said, his voice light but filled with meaning.
your laughter rang out, soft and genuine, and he felt like he could listen to it forever.
“i think you can,” you replied, a playful glint in your eyes.
“yeah?”
“yeah.”
he leaned in a little more, his knee brushing against yours. “would you say yes?”
“probably.”
“just probably?”
you rolled your eyes, but the smile on your face was undeniable. “fine, definitely.”
his grin turned into a full laugh, the kind that made his eyes crinkle at the corners.
“good,” he said softly, his hand reaching out to tuck a loose strand of hair behind your ear. his fingers lingered for a moment, his touch warm against your skin. “because i’ve been wanting to ask for a while now.”
you leaned into his touch, your smile softening. “took you long enough.”
he chuckled, feeling a weight he didn’t even know he’d been carrying finally lift.
“better late than never,” he said, and this time, it was his turn to stare.
you didn’t look away.

DAY #03 . . .
days merged into one another because all I did was go to school and prep school, nothing more and nothing less.
I internally even sobbed, realising that I hadn’t read any of my books for the past six months.
we got our test scores back an hour ago, leaving the results of a bet looming over my head. a bet I made with hyunjin. a bet, whose loser had to kiss someone.
I bet that hyunjin would score higher than I would, and he bet the opposite. loser has to kiss anyone the winner picks.
except, we weren’t serious about the consequences because he had gotten out of a pretty serious relationship just a couple of months ago, and I was… well, I hadn’t had my first kiss yet.
instead of reminding each other of the bet, hyunjin and I were holding hands under the table—which we did quite often because he said my hands were cold and he was ‘warming them up’—when, one of the days preceding halloween, the topic of being a ‘bottom’ or a ‘top’ came up in the class.
“I think you’d be a… bottom,” hyunjin whispered to me.
“duh,” I rolled my eyes.
“why? you like when the other person does all the work for you, don’tcha?”
“well, yeah,” I said, shrugging.
the conversation quickly moved on to what our type was.
“she needs to be as mentally unwell as I am,” hyunjin said. “and have the same sense of humour, too. a little shorter than me, and smart. like, book-smart as hell. oh, hopefully someone who goes to the same prep school so we could see each other a lot, you know?”
I nodded, thinking of any of the girls in our class who fit the criteria, but failed. I even tried to go out of the way and mentally scrolled through a list of girls from other prep school classes, and still turnd up with nothing.
“y/n, what about you?” he nudged my arm.
“mmm, obviously mentally unhinged, because if not, it’d be boring if they didn’t match my freak, right? also, they better be ready to hear out all the freaky fantasies i’ve collected after being a book girl for so many years. the list is unbelievably long,” I said, half-laughing. “I don’t really mind if they’re younger or older than I am, but I would never date anyone shorter than me.”
he laughed and nodded his head at me, his eyes crinkling. I was honoured to be one of the few people who saw this version of his smile—the kind that reaches his eyes.
classes ended earlier than usual—at 7:50, instead of 8:00 p.m., which is still relaxing—so we spent more time in the park near my house together, before hyunjin could leave.
“come on, i’ll walk you home. it’s getting a bit late,” he said, jumping up from his swing, and extending his hand.
I took it without a second thought, and we talked about everything that happened in our classes at school as we kept walking.
“oh my god,” I groaned, looking at the ‘out of service! sorry for the inconvenience!’ sign taped to the elevator. ugh.
“let’s go,” he said, happy to convert me to his staircase-is-better-than-elevators agenda, pulling me up the stairs immediately.
trailing behind him, I asked, suddenly curious, “what led you to conclude the fact that i’d be a bottom?”
when we reached the third floor, he waited a beat before pulling me towards the wall. he pushed me against it gently, and slowly wrapped his fingers around my throat, towering over me and staring down into my eyes. I looked away to the side in embarrassment, as my cheeks flushed.
a second later, he let go. “the fact that you liked that, i’m pretty sure, is proof enough, don’tcha think?”
I mumbled a ‘whatever’, and we kept walking up the stairs. from the corner of my eyes, I could see his mouth still moving, continuing conversation, but my mind kept straying to his lips. and his nose. and his eyes. oh my god, he was beautiful.
“remember our deal about letting me bite you?” he asked suddenly. I nodded. I always bit his finger to annoy him (as I did to my other friends, as well) and he bit back a remark of ‘you’re just begging for me to bite you too, huh?’ to which I cockily remember replying, ‘try it’.
I pulled up the sleeve of my jacket and pushed my hand towards him, assuming he’d bite my hand like I did to him, and get it over with.
instead, he pulled me by my outstretched hand towards the wall again. his hands rested around my neck and tilted my face to my side. he gently nipped at my neck, and I laughed softly.
“tickles,” I mumbled.
best friends, I reminded myself.
he let go, and we walked up another floor to reach mine.
before I could wave to him, he asked, “want another on the other side?”
I quietly took small steps towards him, and his warm fingers found their home on my cheek, tilting my face away slowly. he bit down on my other side for a lot longer than the first time.
I held in a whimper, this time.
best friends.
I was pressed in between the wall and his body. I plopped my head down onto his chest, trying to calm down my racing heart.
best friends, right?
we were both smiling a little and his hand rested against my heart.
“got that heart beating so fast, all for me?” he smirked. I stopped myself from rolling my eyes.
best friends, I had to keep reminding myself.
I mumbled a ‘good night, hyune,’ to him and walked out of the stairwell. he let me go, knowing my parents would get mad at me if I got home even a minute later than I was supposed to.
he smiled, wishing me a good night and walking down the stairs again.
the cheeky little bastard.
I continued cursing him out in my mind, as I unlaced my shoes and stepped into my house. still scolding him internally for nothing, I tried to calm down my racing heart and shaking legs.
best friends aren’t supposed to have this kind of effect on each other… right?
