“None of you are going to get anything out of that act of feigned innocence. Honey, are you all right?”

It seemed like a light had gone on in the room, four pairs of eyes landing on your still pale, surprised face. The night had been heavy after Yuna's call and you'd had so little sleep that you didn't know how you were functioning at the moment. Maybe that was the thing: you weren't functioning at all.

When you woke up, you thought it had all been a bad dream and that definitely the first exposure you'd had to the guys in years hadn't been because Taehyung came across your books at a convention you decided not to go to and uploaded them to his Instagram account with over eighty million followers. It was impossible, wasn't it? Too crazy.

Maybe not as crazy as waking up to your parents banging on your bedroom door saying that over a hundred thousand orders had been placed overnight and they didn't have enough book production for that much demand.

Be that as it may, Yuna and your mother took care of the communications on the account. You went from having twenty followers (including your family and friends —your father had created an account exclusively for that and only followed you—), to almost sixty thousand in at least twelve hours. The posts you had worked so hard to create and put together were finally getting the attention they deserved, but it had all happened so fast and suddenly that it was too strong to process calmly.

Weighing which was stronger, whether Taehyung's acknowledgment of your existence after so many years of zero contact or that your book sales shot up so immeasurably that they couldn't even keep up with demand, even if a month went by, didn't make things any easier.

“She's obviously still in shock,” Yuna replied to your mother at your lack of response from the living room, right across the dining room where you had been sitting since you had come down from your room. Your breakfast was still untouched on the table, but that seemed to be the least important thing in the room with all the more important news.

“Have the printers answered yet?” your brother's voice through the speaker of your father's phone rang as you blinked, reality settling too slowly on your shoulders. You didn't even want to think about what it meant that Taehyung had done that. Maybe it was simply an altruistic act, wasn't it? Maybe he felt guilt and wanted to ameliorate it somehow. What better way than to do an act of charity?

“I'm on it,” your father was sitting across from you in the dining room, his laptop on the glass of the table as he moved his hands over the keyboard and stared through his glasses at the full tip of his nose. From the way his eyes narrowed, your mother snorted.

“Why don't you get those glasses adjusted if you know you don't see well up close, let alone on electronic devices?” the woman reached over, dragging your father's glasses until they were almost glued to his eyebrows. Your father barely gave her a goofy grin as your mother started shaking her hands. “You better move. I'll do it. You write too slow; you're getting on our son's nerves.”

“Nah, I'm fine. I don't know if y/n is tho.”

Silence returned and you growled internally. Well, that was enough conjecture and assumptions without any information to substantiate them, it was time to get down to business.

“Do you think we should take over this business now?” Yuna completely ignored your stretch and you sent her a confused look.

Your brother exclaimed from the phone in agreement. “I call dibs on the treasury!”

“There's no way you can keep the accounts right! You're studying law.”

“Seojun is good at numbers, Yuna.”

“Ha, with all due respect Mrs. I/n, he must only be good at counting sheep.”

“Hey,” you tried to get attention, getting up from the chair.

“y/n, don't talk, you're still in shock. Can you believe he once called me from the supermarket to ask if he got his change right? He didn't even move from the checkout counter. There were people booing him.”

“Ow, my poor baby.”

“I told you not to say that to anyone!”

“I can't keep quiet if they're speaking lies about you!”

“This wasn't lies! This is about my pride!”

“Nonsense. I'll handle the treasury. I double majored in finance and international relations for a reason.”

“You can't run anything without starting bossing everyone around!”

“It's not my fault you're a good-for-nothing!”

God. It was going to be a long day.

Sorting out the whole printing issue and the number of orders was difficult, but with a couple of stories, interactions with new followers and express delivery of the few copies you'd already had at home for months, the waters calmed down a bit. Now, in the stifling silence of your room, you wanted to run.

“Are you going to stare at the ceiling all night?”

“Maybe.”

Yuna watched you from the bed while all you could do was stare as notifications continued to pop up on your Instagram account and your mail because the requests simply wouldn't stop, even though you had made a thousand clarifications to all the new followers. You were trying to focus on the bright side of things, regardless of whatever reasons there may have been for everything to have happened that way, but with your friend's incessant gaze lying on your bed it made it a little difficult. You knew she wanted to pierce your skull from curiosity, but you wouldn't know how you would answer her questions.

“Is there anything you'd like to share with the class?”

The tension had become a little more latent during the last few minutes, when Yuna saw a specific notification on the account. Kim Taehyung and Park Jimin had followed you. To describe your look of shock might be an understatement, and all you did for the next half hour was run across the room and throughout the house vociferating that you were living a nightmare.

Yuna has known all along that you had never been a fan of the siamese or their clan of friends, but she never knew why exactly. You had to tell her that you weren't interested in fashion, that you didn't like the kind of music Jungkook made, that hip-hop was never your thing, that you weren't interested in dilfs and you weren't interested in dance either. You had to tell her that all the things you once did with them didn't matter to you because it was painful, even if it was hard to accept.

You couldn't remember the times you would go shopping at the small mall in town to buy the trending clothes to put together different outfits with Taehyung and Jimin, then go try them all on at your house and invite the others and even your parents to do an impromptu runway show. You couldn't remember how the genre of music that Jungkook and you listened to all the time on his iPod and your MP3 player was the same one that his entire music career focuses on. You couldn't remember the nights when Yoongi would share his writings with you and you would help him compose a song or two on the piano when he felt brave enough. Or the times when you would accompany Hoseok to his workouts and then watch him create dance routines to his favorite songs while Jungkook sang in the background. You also didn't want to remember the times when Namjoon and Seokjin would sponsor their trips and give everyone gifts without expecting anything in return.

You couldn't remember those things. It was too much to bear for such a weak heart.

“What do you want to know?” you sighed, your body sliding on the chair as the notifications grew.

“How did all this happen?”

“Why do you think I have an answer for that?”

Yuna clicked her tongue, sitting on the bed with the cell phone still in her hands, still staring at the notification that snapped her out of her sanity.

“It's just… this is all unbelievable, magnificent and unreal. But how come you're not so excited about what happened?” Yuna slid across the sheets, to be right in front of you, but you refused to look away from the computer. Every time you thought you had overcome and grown around everything that happened so many years ago, something would pop up to remind you that you still had a long way to go. Maybe the nostalgia was strong, but so was the anger. “Regardless of how things turned out, because I know you're not as big a fan as me, this opens a million doors for you and I don't know why you're not celebrating it like we are.”

“It's…complicated.”

“I don't think so. Tell me.”

Yuna was unstoppable when she wanted to get answers out, but besides the obvious, of course there was something else that bothered you and kept you from enjoying this boom so much.

“It's just that all of this doesn't feel like it was a product of my effort,” you began, letting your gaze wander over the desk. The copies of your books you kept for yourself, the first ones you'd ever printed several years ago, lay there, as tattered as your failed accomplishment. “It doesn't feel like an achievement that my work had exploded thanks to a celebrity whose fans would buy even the toilet paper he uses. A lot of those people won't even read the book. They will just buy it and take a picture of it to say that they have the same book that the great Kim Taehyung read. Many of those books will never have a life, they will just be dust collectors and be reminders that all this did not happen because of my effort.”

“What the fuck are you blabbering about? Of course it's the fruit of your effort! Of course you deserve it!” Yuna got up from the bed and moved the chair around the back to leave you in front of her disgruntled and almost offended face. You could see the words drawn in her face. “You worked so many years to pull this off and after so many bumps you finally can! You deserve to have what you wanted so badly. This recognition will last just the same because many other people will read them and love them and they may not be many, but you will form a solid foundation as time goes on with people who will be truly unconditional and supportive and that will grow over time. Don't look at this so negatively, maybe you skipped a couple of steps, but you had every right to. It was what you deserved after all the effort and dedication you put into this project for so many years.”

Yuna didn't hesitate for a second. Her very serious expression sent a shiver down your spine and you could tell from her furrowed brow that she really was angry at your perception. Perhaps she was right, but without knowing the full background of this specific situation, you were only left to shake your head in assent and send her a grateful smile.

“I guess you're right,” you lifted a shoulder, turning your gaze back to your mail notifications.

“Of course I am!” the smile returned to her face and it didn't take long for her to look back down at her phone with sparkling eyes. “Now that we got the emotional charge out of the way, would you mind telling me how you know Taehyung?”

Your breathing stopped for a second and you cursed yourself because it sounded too loud as you almost choked on your own saliva.

“Oh?”

Play fucking dumb.

“What, did you think I wasn't going to notice? He wrote it crystal clear.”

Yuna wasn't even looking at you, too focused on running her finger over the row of notifications. Her nonchalant demeanor only caused you to panic more. It was as if she had caught you red-handed.

One of the best writers I've ever met in my life, damn you Kim Taehyung.

“Ah… I didn't… I didn't really know him so let's just say…”

“He couldn't have said that for nothing, don't you think? No celebrity would do that unless it was a person they hold in deep regard.”

Yuna had just caught you totally off guard. Maybe you should've focused a lot more on what Taehyung had written before you blocked his user from your personal account and threw the phone in the bottom of your drawer the night before and tried hard not to think about the rest for the rest of the night and all that day.

“It's just that… uhm… we studied at the same school. But for a short time actually. I don't even remember it well actually, ha, ha.”

Your laugh came out too constrained under your friend's narrow-eyed stare. You knew you'd have a hard time convincing her because you were a lousy liar.

“You know, it always struck me as odd that you weren't a fan. Taehyung and Jimin are like the two extremes of your ideal type.”

“Whaaaat?”

“And Jungkook's music is literally the kind of music you listen to, you just don't listen to his. All the other artists in the same genre you do listen to.”

“That has nothing to do with…”

“And even your parents don't claim to know Kim Seokjin when your mother was literally a nurse. She probably worked with him.”

“What does that have to do…?”

“And your brother is a hip-hop fan. How come he doesn't listen to Agust D? He's the best rapper of the last few decades and he's been trending for a long time.”

“…”

At what fucking moment?

“And all of them, plus Hobi and Namjoon, they all went to the same school. They're all friends. And you say you went to school with Taehyung?”

“Ahm… well, yes, but it's not like I would have met the others.”

Yuna looked at you, really looked you straight in the eyes as if that way she could tell what it was you were hiding or as if that solved all her guesses. It was impossible for her not to figure it out if she had already tied up all the damn loose ends.

Since the boys had left one by one, clearly your family was the first to realize how much their departures had affected you. In the beginning there was communication and all, but when Jungkook was the last to leave you lost any kind of link with them completely. You never knew exactly what happened because no matter how hard you tried to contact them you couldn't, not even your parents could talk to the boys' parents. Perhaps they had simply grown up, matured, completely forgetting about their ordinary life in that town.

They seemed to have disappeared from the planet.

Until your family moved to the capital. Jungkook was just starting out as an idol, but he had an amazing debut. He had captivated the entire audience and was too successful almost from the second one. It was a torment to watch them grow professionally little by little because, although you were happy for their achievements and all, you couldn't forget that they had basically abandoned you. And your parents and Seojun had noticed. They had noticed how much seeing them all over the place was bumming you out, so unreachable when at one point they were all in your living room eating your mother's delicious kimchi and listening to your father's anecdotes. Everyone was affected by their departures, but clearly no one as much as you.

That's why, of course, your parents and brother had made a silent vow to keep all media about the boys away from you, because they didn't even talk about it by accident in the house, at least not when you were present.

“It must be a huge coincidence…” Yuna continued and only at that moment did you realize how much you got into your head. Your vision slightly blurred. “I shouldn't accuse you of anything for things like that, should I? What nonsense.”

You were probably as white as a sheet of paper.

“Yeah, it would be too weird… ha, ha.”

God, you had to stop letting out those giggles when you were nervous.

“Anyway, should we order fried chicken for dinner?”

“I think I heard mom say she was going to make japchae.”

“Ohhhhhh, Mrs. l/n's japchae is delicious!”

You let out a laugh watching your friend spring up from the bed and head for the door. She stopped halfway out and pointed her index finger at you.

“Don't tell my mom I said that.”

You made a gesture to zipper your mouth shut and Yuna finally left.

The previous conversation had been so tense that you already felt tired and ready to sleep at seven o'clock at night. Really the whole day had been so heavy for everyone that you didn't know how the lights in the house were still on. For now, you couldn't do anything else, even if orders continued to come in, now everything depended on the printer and how fast the books would come out, so you would have to wait.

Maybe you should rest. You had asked your boss for the day off, but tomorrow you would have to continue working hard. Regardless of the incredible growth you'd had, you couldn't let your work go to waste.

Tomorrow would be a new day. A quieter one, preferably.

Former tennis star Patrick Zweig and up-and-coming actress cozy up at intimate dinner

On Friday, the pair grabbed Italian at a notoriously hard-to-get-into restaurant. The couple shared dishes and drinks and seemed to be enjoying each other’s company.

Zweig, 29, recently retired after a season that ended in injury. His retirement came after a series of scandals, most notably being a risqué leak of his camera roll.

At 29 herself, she is coming off the heels of a very busy award season. Taking home her first Best Actress Emmy and BAFTA awards, she also recently received her second ensemble cast award.

The two seem to be an interesting pair, having finished wrapping a movie they were both working on in late October. The unlikely friendship comes on the heels of murmurs about a potential relationship.

“They’ve been enjoying their newfound friendship. It's rare for her to find someone with similar life experiences that she can genuinely bond with,” an insider told us.

We have to wonder what they discussed over dinner.

I’m not interested in defending celebrities, to be so for real, but I am interested in a crumb of whatever drugs this blogger is on. This kind of standom delusion must feel amazing. 💊💊

It’s so funny to me when stans go after each other and fail to realize that they are all engaging in the same kind of “Nuh-uh! That other side sucks the hardest because of all this very biased data I’ve compiled” type of arguing. I’m also not interested in warring with any stan blogs, but this was just so egregious and needed to be debunked. So let’s unpack:

Right off the bat, this blog has used the word tokenize incorrectly. This means to use someone as a symbol of inclusion or compliance with regulations, or to avoid the appearance of discrimination or prejudice.

I think they are intending to refer to the kids being a commodity to exploit in the overall branding of the family; that they are being objectified. And one only has to skim the Instagram feeds of Danneel and Gen to see which family is more heavy-handed. “Danneel’s entire Instagram use to be solely about that.”Based on what, exactly? Danneel’s very first post is of Jensen and JJ, yes, and her identity as wife and mother is (gasp) very much on display ever since. But…that’s to be expected, right?! After all, sharing those parts of their family life on socials is exactly the whole point and why anyone initially followed. It is that behind the scenes peek into the family lives of J2 that drew people in. It’s not as if either of these women has much of a fan base on their own and neither of them were acting at the time their IG accounts launched.

A quick side-by-side of the 2 accounts at about the same point in time (2017/2018) shows little differences in themes of content:

I did not see multiple paid partnership ads featuring the Ackles children. I’m open to anyone proving me wrong, because by sheer volume my argument will still stand. In a random sampling of 2021, we have a string of posts of the Pada-kids that double as ads to varying degrees. Here are just a few examples:

Now you might say, “ok but these are products for children and families…that still seems pretty thoughtful.” Except that one need only scroll a little farther to see the kids included in brand deals for adult supplements, exercise gear, cleaning products, and even shampoo.

All of these products still fit in the “items that help me be a great mom” theme of the Now & Gen era, but this is still blatantly using images of the kids for profit in ways that the Ackles just have not done. What is shown here is just the tip of the iceberg and does not include the other attempts at branding on the failed Now & Gen blog or the YouTube vlog. So I’m not sure how the Pads have only used the kids “when needed” when this family was never going to go hungry without these endorsement deals.

Comparing the volume of likes on Gen’s IG posts that contain the children vs those that do not makes it seem likely that someone has been paying attention to the trends and has concluded that utilizing the children in ads has more earning potential. This is the current climate of social media marketing. These outcomes are in fact considered.

The idea that kids should be allowed to “earn money or have a brand” if they want is actually incredibly irresponsible. Protecting the safety of children that are a part of family content creation was a popular topic over the last year. There have been several examples of families who lost the plot in their efforts to market their children in order to achieve financial gain. What an asinine claim to make for children in general when Google is right there. And I love a link, so here’s a few: X, X, and X. It’s too early to definitively summarize the harm that the Pads might be causing their kids with all the exposure. Even when parents are not intentionally exploiting, their children are too young to consent to this type of “work.” Their brains are literally not developed enough to consider the long term pros and cons. All of this sets them up for potential harm, the risk of which makes none of this a need.

“What’s wrong are self-centered, clueless parents who only show off their kids to benefit off of a certain image.” (Pretending I can’t see the self-centered bit because woooo boy…Gen…😬) But aren’t both families posting photos of their kids to “benefit” off of their image of “family?” It’s baked into the Spn and even Walker marketing. The fandoms have been referred to as a family almost since their inception, so it only makes sense that fans were interested in the leads and their own growing families. Again, both families have benefitted but the Pads have benefitted all the way to the bank. And some Padalecki stans are quick to point this out as a win. If the above blog wants to congratulate Gen on her shrewd sense of business and use of capitalism, then that is a whole other thing and they should just come out and say that without making anyone out to be a saint.

One should take note that nowhere in here have I said that Danneel or Jensen are better people than anyone. I didn’t praise them for anything or proclaim their intentions are always pure of heart. How could anyone know that, except by virtue of the faith that comes along with extreme fandom? And that faith isn’t the same as screenshots, numbers, and patterns.

As always: Pedestals aren’t for people. Hold everyone accountable, even your faves. They will survive.✌🏼

Why I hate how the elders are treated and misinterpreted in a big chunk of the fandom. Rant!

Before we start

I mention fat phobia, and talk about how certain hair types and cultural clothing is described as "food" as a response to what some of the elders are perceived by alot of the fandom. These comments are not only directed at some elders, but many folks who have gotten representation from them are also affected these comments that many thrown around freely.

I’m at my breaking point and will get heated on an array of things but I don’t care

You're entitled to your own opinion, even if i heavily disagree with it. If you don't wanna read then just scroll, because I will rip apart the interpretations I talk about under the read more tag.

If you "don't see this happening" or believe this "doesn't happen" that doesn't mean it didn't happen, Tumblr isin't the only social media I have. I've dabbled in the official Discord, on Instagram, and god forbid Pinterest too, i've seen it all.

Let’s go in order, most issues I have a bone to pick with are more prevalent in some elders more than others.

Daleth

They’re just forgotten, really. Even with knowing what Isle looked like before. Flourishing even, populated seen in the switch trailer and even making an appearance in the Auroras' concert for runaways, they’re pretty much never talked about. And if they are they're just kinda only the butt of pee-paw jokes

Ayin

Their characterization is just confusing to me. I've seen a lot of them portrayed as happy-go-lucky. I’m not saying they can’t be happy, but from what I’ve seen, that’s all they are to a lot of folks in the fandom that I’ve seen. Which really confuses me because in their cutscene they wake up in a daze, notice us, are sort of like "ah, hi," and get straight to work. And they’re gentle, tipping the pot to the butterfly they make to enter. But then there's their orbit cutscene, where they look tired and a tad grouchy after being woken up—not mean, just tired. Again, nothing wrong with it, but it’s pretty one-dimensional to me to just see them as all that.

On a more bitter note, i've seen alot of "fat jokes" or straight up fatphobia in art and comments alike about their body, "Why are they so fat?" -a comment i've actually seen in the discord regarding Ayin. it's disgusting.

Teth

I have so much shit to say about them.

They're not mean simply because they took your light.

"But they snatched it away." Motherfucker, you're looking surface level. THINK!

Imagine you're dead, stuck in limbo for god knows how long, rotting away without anything to do. And you enjoy building and creating, and you were possibly the catalyst for the production of darkstone; your temple could be a goddamn factory for it! So much so that your anvil and hammer are in your constellation; they're a part of you. It’s what you love. And now that you're dead, with no light to fuel, no life to live, forced to sit there with broken shards, it'd bore you, drain you. And then a child appears with a flame; and for the first time in thousands of years, if not more, you can create, build, make something.

And you do.

You take the light without a second thought, regaining your strength and setting to work to help this child pass through your realm to the other elder. You just put all your focus on making the diamond, and when you finish and are proud of it, you send it up to the sky. You’ve created again. And in your orbit cutscene, you're much gentler, no longer bound to that soul-sucking abyss of nothing, so you honour the children who gave you light, your gift. Taking your time and presenting it to them with grace.

That’s what Teth does; that’s what they do. Yes, they seem like a more serious person, but they’re in no way mean. Did they take your light away? Yes. But putting yourself in their shoes for just a moment can make you understand why.

Samekh

I love the twins; I’m a fan of them, and I love Sah in particular with all my being. Which is why this one I will get very passionate about.

It baffles me how those two got the impression of being idiots who share a single brain cell. I don’t mind the jokes, but some people think that’s all they are. Which is just so wrong, like? How can you be so wrong? Would a ruler who built their fucking realm, Valley Triumph of all names, in a goddamn mountains? Would the most prosperous, decorated, and successful realm be led by idiots? Let me repeat that, They built the realm Valley of Triumph, in the fucking MOUNTIANS! Do you know how hard it is to make a city that size in those conditions? MOUNTAINS ARE FUCKING BRUTAL, WITH LESS OXYGEN, EVEN LESS WITH MASK'S, AND FOR HOW UNPREDICTABLE THE WEATHER IS ITS INSANE. Yet valley thrived! They thrived in those mountains, creating impossible architecture, floating buildings, and sports ranging from sliding to flying to manta racing.

Would idiots who share a brain cell accomplish that? No! It's incredible what the twins achieve—an amazing realm and, in my opinion, the capital of the sky. Eden, on the other hand, seems more like a sacred place where you ascend. Not to mention the Citadel? Hello??? It's fucking fantastic; it's incredible how they created such a beautiful realm in the mountains. They wanted races; they got them; they wanted enrichment; they have theatre, gondolas, even the coliseum, and races too.

The twins can be silly and serious, and they are shown to have the same rivalry as all siblings do. But they are not dumb idiots, not in the least.

Tsadi

Tsadi, like Ayins, is just confusing. I’m not too well versed, but I’ve seen iterations of them where they side with "Resh," who is really just a concept art character that has definitely changed from the base game in concept art. Even then, they've never officially appeared in-game; you just have those statues in Wasteland. And in those interpretations of seeing Resh as a full-fledged character, they’re seen as "evil," which I don’t agree with at all. I mention them because most of the time, Tsadi would side with Resh in the war to mant; them seeing Resh as pro-Darkstone in the war (the diamonds Teth makes, and that we light up, basically the main power source for sky), this would imply Tsadi destroyed their realm because they followed the "king." However, their sun shield is right there; based on the memories of wounded warriors, it shows that they were on the "sun side" of their friend. If they we're pro darkstone and was on the same side as the hypothetical "king" wouldn't they have a diamond shield?

"But the spear falling in warrior's and seeds memory could be them," would you expect Tsadi to attack their own realm, where civilians are in warrior memory? Attack their own PEOPLE for the reasons I stated above?

Lamed

Like most of the elders, they're pretty much forgotten. And frankly, I haven’t seen any character interpretations that stick out, so their section is more about how they’re mistreated. Mostly on their headscarf, which is confirmed to be based off a hijab by one of the devs, Ash. Who explains why we should be respectful about it.

And god, so many POC deal with shit already because their hair or cultural clothing are described as food or even worse which many hate. It's disheartening to see almost every joke or comparison refer to Lamed being an "Egg".

More stuff that piss me off

"Bad rulers"

I despise when folks call the elders "evil" or "bad rulers," not seeming to care for their people or even being seen as lazy, which baffles me. Have you watched the vault cutscene?

ALL OF THEM ARE ASSISTING ANCESTORS, AND EVERYONE IS LEADING, GUIDING, OR CREATING THINGS FOR THE ANCESTORS IN SOME WAY.

For fuck's sake, Flight Guide is Ayin's apprentice! Would someone who doesn't care about their people bother with an apprentice? Even a flight guide shares the same pattern on their pants as Ayin, and the same pattern on the flight post's. It's ridiculous how folks can spew the most disproven zero reading comprehension ever when this shit is right here.

And they're not saints; they made mistakes, of course, but I see them wanting the best for their people and the kingdom. But in the process, they made huge mistakes that piled up and spilled over, resulting in the kingdom's downfall. But it wasn’t done out of malice; they tried and messed up big time, but they weren't evil, not one bit.

How many treat Lamed and Teth when it comes to shipping

I can’t stop who you ship; as long as it’s not weird and illegal, it’s whatever for me. Some pairs are not for me because of personal preferences/ familial head cannons, but I do dabble in ships. Yet it’s more mellowed out to me just saying "cute" when I see fanart and moving on. But it irritates me that when Teth or Lamed are shipped with most people, they appear to be more submissive in some ways. I’m not saying they can’t be happy, but to me, in so much ship art, it seems like just because they look more feminine, they’re suddenly almost always a blushing or shy mess, or (and I hate to use this term) a tsundere for Teth in some other cases. But that’s completely my biased opinion.

Fucks sake in my earlier time in the fandom, I was a Lamed/Tsadi fan, but again, it’s mellowed out to me just seeing fanart and thinking it's cute and moving on if it comes naturally. But I didn’t make one meek and the other an alpha male or some dumb shit when I used to draw them as I've seen many do. I mention this because I can see some folks calling me hypocritical for pointing this out. But the reason it irritates me is when Teth or Lamed are paired with someone (who often appears to be masc) almost always seem out of character simply because they're with said person. Which rubs me the wrong way since they are usually almost always seen as fem presenting in many folks eyes. Again, I don't have an issue with the pairs themselves; it just irks me when only their personalities seem to be changed for the sake of it, where it's just out of character.

How some elders greatly overshadow others and leave them in the dust

I'm guilty of this, fucks sake most of my content is twin stuff. And while I can feed on alot of twin content here, many folks who are fans of any other elder's barely get crumbs, even less so with Daleth, Ayin, And Lamed who are pretty much left do the dust. Which I hate because i know why.

The reason, Twins and Teth and even Tsadi are so popular when they others aren't is because they're "conventionally attractive", all are fit, all are gorgeous and can be attractive to many. Yet so can the others be appreciated, yet they aren't. Again, i know a hypocrite because of my blog being mostly twin stuff, yet even blogs like mine that don't focus on a single elder barely draw Daleth, Ayin, and Lamed. It sucks ass.

I think that’s all. I’m just sick of how the elders are treated by everyone.

aph korea + kimchiburger hcs because i will explode if i continue to keep them to myself

this is a lot. like, a lot. CW: war, colonization

america is the type of boyfriend to shake korea in the middle of the night and ask “if i was a worm would you still love me”

south and north korea are twins, north korea being the older one. NK’s strong spot is singing and SK’s is playing instruments, so during the joseon era NK would be singing folk songs while SK plays the haegeum, gayageum, or daegeum. later, SK learned dance with the rise of kpop, and can dance very well, on par with many 3rd and 4th generation groups

going off of the kpop headcanon, SK definitely has a tiktok and instagram account where SK dances to a kpop song with one of the members. goes to every MAMA and MMA and cheers for everyone. maybe interviews/has podcasts with some kpop idols on a youtube channel or something

america’s favorite soloist is IU. one day, korea takes him to IU to meet her at a fan signing, and america is this close to screeching out of excitement. his voice is shaky. when IU posts the picture she took with america on instagram, he gets the tag notification, throws his phone across the room, and rolls around on his bed screaming

korea has 3?4? houses. there’s 2 in seoul, with one being the hanok(traditional korean house) SK and NK lived in during the joseon dynasty after moving out of the royal palace, and one being a luxury apartment with a view overlooking the namsan seoul tower. then there’s one in busan, and a pension in jeju.

during the japanese occupation of korea, SK and NK tried to show their resistance in many ways, from placing the mugunghwa(national flower of korea) around their hanok instead of the crystanthemum of japan, to even joining the march 1919 demonstrations

after the korean war, SK would overwork and give all strength to help the citizens of korea, regardless of food or sleep. while helping rebuild the country, SK notices that even though other buildings surrounding it were destroyed to some degree, the hanok SK and NK used to live in remained completely untouched.

in 1883, the first korean diplomats went to america, getting to see san francisco and new york. korea was quite underdeveloped at the time and was an agrarian country, so electricity was very new to them, with none of the delegates able to completely understand what it was due to its versatility. one of the delegates described riding a train in his diary: “the speed of trains are such that they made me feel as if I was flying up through the clouds.” they were also panicked as they rode an elevator, worrying there was an earthquake. it’s fun to imagine that NK and SK went to america as well, and experienced these things too.

SK would definitely get along with france and canada

france bc they’re both interested in fashion(especially with the current rise of kfashion) and kbeauty). SK always gives france skincare tips and takes him to IOPE lab in Myeongdong so france can get custom skincare products. once SK had france try ddung-caron(means fat macaron in korean), and then watches france struggle as he figures out how to eat it, before going full on gastronomist and analyzes the macaron. when france heard about korea’s crush on america, it was over for korea. france wanted to give “advice” after a world conference, and it resulted in korea having a windows error type breakdown with a completely red face, unsure if korea will ever be able to look america in the eyes again as korea keeps note that france has no filter oh my god

canada bc historically, canada was the first to teach korea english. due to earlier interaction than with america, canada is slightly more fluent. they also played a big role in the korean war. going off of someone’s hc i saw on tumblr, they would definitely make fusion food together, like hotteok(traditional korean pancake filled with honey or sugar) with maple syrup. they also worked on goblin(the k-drama) together and canada enjoyed that more people, especially koreans, flocked to quebec after watching goblin. also canada would definitely be like the middleman when america and korea are still pining for each other. at a time where america still didn’t know much korean, he would ask canada what a word meant. korea would go to canada and ask about american culture before going to america to stay there for a while

SK would also get along(though would get overwhelmed at times) with turkey. turkey and korea, especially in the 2010s, have a strong relationship. there’s a turkish culture center in korea. most recently, one of korea’s famous chefs went to turkey to try a dessert called kaymak, and after that many koreans flocked to the turkish center or even traveled to turkey to try kaymak. turkey would definitely slap korea on the back unexpectedly as a greeting.

korea can be many things, like being immature by going along with america’s antics a lot, but not stupid. korea can be very mature at times, and comfort america with words of advice based on experiences from the joseon dynasty, and america suddenly remembers “dang.... i forgot korea’s a lot older than me.” korea isn’t afraid to catch up with the times and incorporate korean culture into modern elements:

there’s a starbucks and baskin robbins that was built as a hanok, with the starbucks one actually being a 100-year old hanok that was revamped to become a cafe

kpop also began to embrace the korean culture, especially in agust d’s daechwita and stray kids’ thunderous.

korea’s also proud of the film industry, especially with parasite and squid game, with how the country’s faults and flaws are shown to a foreign audience, but not completely deterring them from appreciating the country, as well as the promotion of culture, especially in squid game. america kept talking about squid game for like, 4 months afterwards, to the point where korea got a little annoyed after a while. once america called dalgona(candy made with sugar and baking soda) a “cookie,” korea was so close to buying a ticket to nyc and giving him a lecture on dalgona

whatever trend the country embraces, korea does, too. last summer in 2021, there was a big mint choco trend. cafes immediately put mint choco drinks on their menus, snack companies started making mint choco flavors, and even KFC sold mint choco dipping sauce. there was a split opinion, with about 40% saying mint choco sucks and tastes like toothpaste, and 60% being part of the mint choco fanbase. when you’re a fan in korea, you go all out.

korea’s alcohol tolerance? it’s there, but korea’s only about 4 small shots of soju(korean alcohol) away from switching off for the rest of the day. this is a problem, especially with the hwaeshik(means company dinner in korean). usually in hwaeshik, bosses invite employees to a dinner at a restaurant. due to the harsh work culture, it’s important to go. usually, people drink alcohol with the dinner to relax more, and the boss keeps insisting to drink more. so korea leaves the restaurant absolutely conked out. america notices this, so whenever he knows korea has a hwaeshik, he waits outside to carry korea back home.

korea also has to teach america that couple names aren’t thrown around all the time, with oppa(korean girls use this towards older brothers, older male peers, older boyfriends) being an exception. america called korea nae sarang(my love) one(1) time, and korea overheated and couldn’t respond for about ten minutes.

korea pleads america to go and rent some hanbok(korean traditional clothing) together. “we can enter the gyeongbokgung(translated as “palace greatly blessed by heaven,” located in Seoul) for free if we rent hanbok!!” actually its korea’s ulterior motive to see america in hanbok bc he would look very regal and elegant compared to his easygoing style.

February 24, 2020

The first few days were trying to mostly just work out the camerawork. Which would mean that I wasn't needed on the set, but Baz insisted that I should be there. Maybe I could come up with ideas on how to capture certain things. A fresh gaze since they were all doing it for almost a whole year with the prepping. Olivia and Alice are amazing neighbors to have. They don't complain when I suddenly play guitar when they are at their apartment. We even had a few dinners just the three of us because the others in our hallway would still be on set or are out eating with family. Yes, from some people joined the family because this production could take a year and if I had a family of my own I would also ask them to tag along at least for a couple of weeks.

Outside being on set I haven’t seen Austin or Dacre very much. So the only people I really bonded with these past few weeks were Olivia and Alice. I also called my mom a few times, because we had gotten the news that there is a virus going around the world and since my mom has just finished her treatment from her cancer relapse she could be a risk patiënt if she gets in contact with it. On set we have already started testing, which is incredibly painful. So staying in seemed like the right thing to do. I also had a few facetime calls with Jack for some ideas I had for an album after my ‘Lover’ tour. I can say that I have written down some sentences from books, movies or series. But also from the infidelity of my previous boyfriend.

When I was on set we, Austin and I, mostly rehearsed scenes so I can say how to sing certain parts without damaging his vocal cords too much. Unfortunately, he will damage his vocal cords due to him not being a singer with the right techniques. However, from what I’ve heard from him, he knows how to sing, but sometimes just oversteps by wanting to do too much. It’s normal to be wanting everything to be perfect, but some days he just needs to take it easy. So Baz recommended that Austin rested his voice for a few days, on my request. That explains why I spent the last few days in my apartment and having too much time on my hands.

I also had a call with my manager, Kristen, about the music video that is coming out in 3 days. We shot this last year around the time the album dropped. And I’m really stressed about it, because it is the first music video that I completely directed, because any other directors that I wanted on the production weren’t available. I just hope that the fans will enjoy it as much as I did. It will also be my dad’s acting debut. I had asked him if he wanted a small part in the music video and he enjoyed it so much. I just had so much fun with him on set and doing this together, because without him and my mom I don’t think I would’ve become as far as I am now.

Just sitting here pondering how happy I am that The Man music video is OUT. I want to say thank you to so many people- Gotta thank @/therock for voicing The Man and for being so supportive of my music for years (and now my directorial debut!)- it’s so cool to have you be a part of this!! Being on set is really fun. Because of mostly watching I learn a lot from Baz. I have been directing my music videos for not so long, but it’s a thing that I think will continue throughout my career. So I ask Baz for some tips, directions and just observe how he does certain things. It’s just amazing that even though some things have been decided since last year about how they would do certain things, Baz sometimes decides to try a new angle of filming and it could sometimes be better than what was discussed earlier. He sometimes asks me about how to approach certain shots and I am just glad to be included in these things. I am learning so much.

After a while I walk over to the table with some sweets and drinks to keep us energized on long days. While deciding what to pick I feel a presence next to me. When I look up I see Austin standing next to me also looking at the sweets. We stand there for a few minutes in complete comfortable silence before I speak up. “Shouldn’t you be on the scene? Since, you know, you’re playing Elvis. Whose biopic we’re making?”

“I have a few minutes free to grab something. So I am.”

“Okay well, I’ll be going back since I have what I need.” I said holding up my plate of a few sweets.

“Wait… I actually wanted to ask you something for a few days, but I just didn’t know how. I wanted to know if you wanted to go out with me tonight or so…?” Austin said, nerves clearly in his voice.

“I would like it, but I think it isn’t really safe to go outside since the virus is going around. How about you just come over to my place and we’ll have some wine or something else, a snack and just watch a movie or so?”

“Okay. I would like that. Is it okay if I come by around 8 since I have a few more scenes to film?”

“Sure, no problem at all.” I say before walking towards Baz and Olivia who were talking about a line in the script since the next scene will be the kiss between Elvis and Pricilla.

Is it normal to be this nervous? I don’t think I’ve ever been this nervous. Not even with my previous boyfriend when he asked me out. Is this considered a date? Or just friends hanging out? Do I wear something more casual or can I go comfortable since I am in my apartment? Is it too soon for me to go on dates? These thoughts have been spinning around in my head for the past 30 minutes. I had texted Selena for some advice, but due to the different time zone I forgot she must be sleeping. I decided to just keep wearing what I was all day. Which consisted of a white buttoned up shirt with a sleeveless pull over it and some blue jeans.

Before I know it there is a knock on my door. I put down my wine glass, that I had started to calm my nerves, and went to open the door. When I open the door I see Austin in casual jeans and a pull. Thank god I decided to not dress up. I would’ve looked so stupid next to him. We made small talk as I led him into my apartment. “Would you like a glass of wine? I only have white. Sorry I don’t like the red one that much.”

“Yes, please.”

I go to the cupboard to get him a wine glass. When I turn around I see Austin inspecting my apartment. I have some photos of my friends and family hanging up as well as a few tour pictures. “This interior is lovely.” Austin says when he turns to me.

“Thank you, the furniture was already here. I just added a few photos and plants.” I say when I hand him his glass of wine.

I pick mine up and walk towards the couch while Austin follows me. On the coffee table I have a few snacks standing, not so much since I didn’t snack as much due to our long days.

We spent the following hours talking about literally everything. It goes from our family, to our first experiences in celebrity life, to where we are now. There was barely any silence. Of course, we also touched on the uncomfortable topic: the exes. He told me a lot about Vanessa and that there is no bad blood between them. I found it a bit uncomfortable since he was in a relationship for almost a decade while I was just in a relationship that lasted a few months, or like my last one 4 years. I mean, the media already thinks I’m a slut. But Austin assured me that it doesn’t matter how many relationships you have, you eventually find the right one. He thought it was Vanessa but due to hectic schedules it got hard to combine in the end.

When it reached 1 in the morning we decided it would be good to finish it since tomorrow Austin has to be on set at 7 in the morning for filming. It’s going to be a short night for him. Austin wanted to help me clean up, but I insisted that he get his rest since it won’t be that long until he needs to be on set. He also said the same about me, but I told him not to worry since I am used to this while working on albums, filming music videos, or even being on tour.

I don’t think I’ve ever felt so comfortable on a date, if that’s what we call it. I had so much fun. I could be myself without having to worry about other people seeing us. When Austin was standing in the doorframe he turned around and told me he would like to do it again. I told him I would like it too.

March 12, 2020

This week has been a hard one. My mom called to tell me that our state is in lockdown due to the virus spreading really fast. Yesterday Tom and his wife tested positive for that same virus. So since then everyone has been sitting at their own apartment. I asked Baz if I could still go to the little studio we have but he advised against it, but he did tell me that if I wanted an instrument from that room I could ask and maybe I would be able to get it at my apartment. So I asked if I could have the keyboard.

I also had a call with Kirsten about upcoming events and if we should postpone the tour or just wait for a few more weeks. She said that it would be best if we wait a few days since the president, Trump, says that it will only last a few weeks. But honestly I don’t believe it. They have advised us to only come outside when needed. So I only went to the supermarket with a mask, except for that I haven’t really left my apartment.

Austin and I have been texting a lot outside seeing each other on the set. It’s just so easy to talk to him. I don’t have to worry about being too crazy with what I say. He just accepts it at this point.

Last week I caught him in the studio on the piano playing a really good melody. I went inside and asked him if I could record it for maybe a thing I’m working on. The hours that followed we composed a melody on the piano and came up with a few lyrical sentences that could fit the melody. I was afraid he would not want to do that, but he just was a natural about it and told me he loved it. When I was back at my apartment that night I sent our recorded version of what we have to Jack and asked what he thought. A day later I thought it would be good for a duet, but I know Austin wouldn’t want to do it now due to his focus being on the movie. I asked Jack if he maybe knew someone with a deep voice that would be interested. Jack said he could ask around, but he was going to let me know.

Selena also called me back due to my calling and texts I sent her when Austin came over. She asked me what happened, how it happened. You know stuff everyone wants to know when they hear about it. Right now I am on a facetime call with Austin to keep practicing his vocals so when filming picks up again it won’t be too much for his voice. In the middle of an exercise a call comes through from Jack.

“Austin, Jack is calling so I will stay on the line on my computer, but keep practicing.” Austin said he could hang up but then I would have to call him again after and I know I will forget it.

“Hey Jack. how are you?”

“Hey Hannah, I’m doing as well as I can with the circumstances. I called you about the voice memo you sent me last week. I sent it over to Aaron Dressner from The National. He mentioned he could bring it up to Justin Vernon if you wanted.”

“Oh my god. That would be amazing. Could you maybe ask if he could also contact me so we can call sometimes about lyrics and arrangements.”

“I will pass it on. Aaron would also like to call you. Has some things that could be worked on if you want.”

“Oh that would be lovely. If he could send me a file with what he already has I can look into it. I have an idea in what direction I want to go with the songs.”

“Okay. Have a good day. Stay safe. I will call you later in the week for our weekly call.”

“Thank you Jack. Say hello to your wife.”

When I hang up I look towards the facetime call with Austin to see him looking at me already. “Have you heard everything?”

“I have. You sent what we have to Jack?”

“Yeah. I liked it and I wanted to work further with it. If that’s okay with you.”

“Sure no problem. Is this how all your collaborations go?”

“Pretty much. Jack knows a lot of people and I meet some of them at events like the AMA’s, but I wanted to work with Justin for a while now and this is an opportunity to do so.”

“Do you often just come up with things in the middle of doing something else?”

“Yeah. It just comes to my mind and I either write it down or record it to use in our songwriting sessions. And now with nothing else to do, except my sessions with you, I can work some things through until sometimes the end.”

“And these songwriting sessions, how do they usually go?”

“I can let you join one if you want to.It’s hard to take you through the process, because everytime is different and now especially. Normally we are together and not locked inside our own home and at a studio. So this will be new.”

“I would like that thank you. When there is one. Would it be okay with you if I came to your apartment?”

This has me thinking for a few seconds. On one hand I would like to not be alone in my apartment for a while, but on the other is it allowed with the virus going around?

“I haven’t been outside or in contact with other people since they tested me yesterday.“ Austin says when he sees me thinking about it.

“Okay, but just try to keep some distance between us. I haven’t been outside either, but if I gave you this virus I would never forgive myself.”

After that we finish our session and make plans for our meeting with Jack. I also text Jack to let him know that Austin will be joining us at our meeting.
