Husband is cooking a fusion of Indian and Jamaican and Chinese ingredients, sharing a story about how his parents' friends came from Saudi Arabia to Maryland in the 1980s. The husband was a Sikh diplomat who was friends with my husband's father, who was a DC Man In Black. The wife was from Ireland and was a friend of my husband's mother, who herself was sent to Ireland as a pregnant teen in the 1960s (long story).

So, Adam had new friends who were half Irish and half Indian, coming from Saudi into the USA in the late 80s. He was already starting to cook. He was taught all kinds of cooking methods, and cultural references from everywhere.

And that's how over 25 years my entire palette has been shaped by world fusion and the Generation X mentality of "leave me alone to be weird with my weird friends and keep in mind that we welcome everyone who wants to join" which is a very interesting mix.

Anyway, there's Taiwanese long grain rice and goji berries and char siu pork with Montreal steak with a mild sweet Jamaican curry, plus of course turmeric. It's cooking now.

I suddenly realized that I probably wouldn't be how I am without his magic powers of chaotically blending and respecting cultures through food, art, sport, and science.

As the result of his father passing and his mother being away from home a lot working, he was raised primarily by a no-nonsense paternal grandfather starting from the age of seven. Through his observations from his youth, Kareem adopted his own code of conduct. Career-focused, Kareem went to John Hopkins University for his graduate studies, and after he had completed the program, he served his internship at the Dallas Museum of Art.

Kareem spent the better part of the next decade hopping around the southern United States and leaving his footprint in various museums with his hand-picked exhibits. During this time, it wasn’t only art pieces that he left behind, but also broken hearts. Never settling down for long.

Kareem dabbles in creating art pieces of his own every now and then, preferring woodworking and metal crafting to any other art styles, but he mostly loves to pick art pieces to hang not just in his home, but in local museums as a museum curator.

After the passing of his grandfather last year, Kareem decided to spread his wings and relocate to Denver, Colorado to help nurture the vibrantly growing art scene there.

Throughout all of his moves, Kareem never once has taken flight, traveling cross-country by car with a moving van following behind him. Accommodating to the cooler weather has been difficult for him and he dreads the upcoming summer, but it is a price he is willing to pay for the rich culture that he has found in Denver, specifically in the River North Art District where he works.

Likes: Chocolate, coffee, sunshine, animals (especially cats and birds!), talking with people, having long, complex conversations, encouraging others, drawing (mostly digital art), all types of food (Italian, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Greek, Halal, Indian, American, Mexican…. (She also somehow managed to stab herself in the hand with a knife while cutting a bagel, then drop the knife on her foot blade-first -ImagineThat). [2] I also rode horses! It was very fun. Unfortunately I had to stop when COVID rolled around 🙁. [3] My favorite number is 13, mostly because I just think it’s neat but also I was 13 years old when I moved out of my home state. [4] I love to bake, but I honestly know nothing about cooking lol. [5] I am a dice gremlin and have more dnd dice sets than any one person probably should, and the same goes for earrings! I love funky dangly earrings and probably have somewhere in the hundreds of pairs. [6] I want to go to Ren Fair or a Cosplay Convention one day but I don’t have the stylish outfits to do so *sigh*. Pesor was born in a very toxic household, remembering very little except a constant tension, sleepless nights, and screaming. One day their mom packed both their bags and hit the road, moving from town to town, city to city, and finding new friends along the way.

Pesor got used to making connections quickly and grieving the loss of friends whenever their mom packed up again. They have been all over the United States of America, never staying anywhere longer than a few months. They got home-schooled, though at times neither them nor their mom knew where they left off.

Then a few weeks ago, their mom said they needed to go to Anchorage. So they packed up once again and went on the road. A day’s ride from Anchorage however, Pesor woke up to find their mom and the car gone, being left with only their back-pack and a little money, they hitch-hiked to the place their mom needed to go, in the hopes she would show up there one day.

salice: yes, actually, she has plenty of tattoos! this is something i've added onto her recently alongside the ones i've drawn on her since forever. she has a cross of lietuvēns on her right bicep and on her arms and the nape of her neck she is full of croatian cultural tattoos her grandma inked on her when she turned 13. these tattoos culturally were practiced since centuries by croatian women on croatian women and though the meaning varied by century, generally they're meant to represent community and a strong bond with family.

connie: she has a tattoo on her left bicep that simply spells out "daisy" in a fancy serif font and a realistic but simplified daisy illustration right beside it. there is no fancy reason behind this one the lore reason is that she legit did it for shits n giggles... she liked the name daisy and ran with it and loves messing with people who assume it's an ex's name LOL

salice: shes italian so you know shes biased for italian foods.... though knowing the way she is she will probably eat about anything, salice isn't picky at all with food but she probs is a big fan of stuffed and roasted bell peppers with the meat filling being also in part made with amaretti... she loves a good ol' spaghetti dish often and salaciously... she doesn't love sweets so she mostly enjoys savory foods. i can imagine she'd be a big fan of indian cuisine though which is funny because her parents NEVER cooked spicy food for her but she just got used to trying new things once she moved to the UK to study
