Well, What the Hell Did You Expect?
It was inevitable.
Okay, that's not to say that we all woke up the day of the Richmond race and knew it was going to be these exact guys at this exact track, but like...don't tell me you didn't expect for something like this come Daytona. It's just how a "win and you're in" playoff format works, especially when you remove the top thirty in points requirement. That means you can be one of the worst drivers in Cup, nepotism baby who hasn't scored a top five in fifty races, but you have one race where you're at the front and can win your way into the playoffs.
In an instant, you go from thirty-second in points to guaranteed to finish at worst sixteenth.
In an instant, you off the back of one race, lock yourself in while guys like Chris Buescher and Ross Chastain that have run at the front in multiple races and have a much better chance of actually progressing in the playoffs, are knocked out. At this point, Buescher, Chastain, Bubba Wallace, Chase Briscoe, Kyle Busch, etc, etc, are gonna have to win one of Michigan, Daytona, or Darlington to make the playoffs.
That's less races than drivers.
So, let's talk about what happened.
Austin Dillon in the Bass Pro Shops Hunting Sale #3 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing worked his way into the lead at Richmond with three to go. Daniel Suarez in sixth is on fresh option tyres (because that's another thing, before all this nonsense, Richmond was actually a rather interesting race with two different tyre compounds, a soft option that was clearly faster than the hard prime, but degradation brought the prime runners back into contention) but he wasn't gaining quick enough.
Then Ricky Stenhouse had a wiggle going into turn one while Ryan Preece was trying to crowd him down through the corner. They touch, they spin - right in front of the #3 no less - and the caution comes out. Austin Dillon will have to defend his lead from at least one overtime green-white-checker restart.
The leaders pit ahead of the GWC.
Denny Hamlin is second in the #11 FedEx Rewards Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing. He has the best pit selection of the three leaders.
Joey Logano is third in the #22 Shell/Pennzoil Ford for Team Penske.
Denny seems like he's going to have the advantage, but his pitstop was slow! Austin Dillon comes out first, then Joey Logano, and Denny Hamlin is third.
Austin chooses the bottom, Joey goes to the top, Denny follows Austin.
Green - the race restarts with two laps to go.
They restart, Joey pulls alongside immediately, the cars are fanning out behind so nobody's really getting a push, and Logano finds the grip on the top because he pulls ahead through turns one and two. On the backstretch, he clears.
Dillon tries to get back to him with the draft and through turns three and four but can't do it. By the time they cross the start-finish line, Joey has but at least a car length between them.
White - the flag means the start of the last lap, and whatever flag flies next - be it the checkered at the end of the lap, or a yellow or red before that - ends the race.
Dillon tries again on the backstretch, but Logano is clear. In turns three and four, it seems like Logano is going to win it...until Austin Dillon just doesn't brake? Like...at all?
Dillon piledrives into the corner, starts running up the track because he's too fast, and then hits Joey on the right edge of his rear bumper, and spins him out.
Joey is spinning, Austin is pulling the nose of his car down, and Denny Hamlin from third is going beneath the both of them to try and win this race.
And then the really obscene part happens.
Austin Dillon (with his spotter shouting "Wreck him!" no less) swerves left and hooks Denny's right rear. Denny hits the wall right side door first, the yellow comes out around this point. Tyler Reddick and Bubba Wallace are getting runs on Dillon, but one: Austin just holds them off to the line, two: because of the yellow flag coming out at some point after those Logano and Hamlin incidents, it didn't matter anyway.
Tyler Reddick bumps Austin Dillon on the cooldown lap just to show his displeasure.
As of right now, Austin Dillon is classified first, Hamlin second, the 23XI cars of Reddick and Wallace are third and fourth, and Ross Chastain is fifth. Joey Logano was classified as nineteenth.
How exactly NASCAR determined that finishing order is a mystery, but what isn't a mystery is why this happened.
Like I alluded to earlier, Austin Dillon was thirty-second going into this race. He hadn't scored a top five all season, he only has one good race a year, and at least half the fanbase sees him as a disgrace to the #3 car. Austin Dillon had no chance of making the playoffs on merit.
The only way he was going to make it was to win.
Richmond was the only opportunity he was going to get.
Logano and Denny were already locked into the playoffs, another win wouldn't mean much for them.
Does any of this excuse what he did? Absolutely not. Logano or Hamlin could've been hurt and the fact that they weren't is not an excuse.
But this is why Austin Dillon says "he did what he had to do" because this win if you're in format causes this type of shit. NASCAR literally made this exact scenario possible by removing the top thirty in points rule from playoff eligibility ahead of the 2023 season. So yeah, of course this was going to happen, because drivers are desperate for wins to begin with and this playoff system enables it.
I'm not even trying to be a boomer and say get rid of the playoffs, I understand that they're here to stay, but why on Earth would you remove the top thirty requirement? That was at least a rule that required a driver show some sort of competitive pace consistently in order to make the playoffs.
By removing that, NASCAR gives bad drives a blank check to do stupid and dangerous moves if they're even remotely in contention to win.
And you know what, in two weeks at Daytona, if the likes of Harrison Burton or John Hunter Nemechek (for example) are anywhere near the front of the field, they'll do this exact same thing. A win means a top sixteen finish in the championship for your team, nobody expects NASCAR to give serious consequences to this kind of stuff, and even if they suspended you, that doesn't seem to matter either.
Last year Chase Elliott got suspended for right hooking Denny Hamlin into the wall and NASCAR granted him a playoff waiver.
Fans can complain all they want, because when it comes to this stuff, NASCAR is Groundskeeper Willie.
Willie hears ya, Willie don't care. P.S: Oh, and for those fans saying Dale Earnhardt would've done the same thing in that #3 car? Well one: Dale wouldn't have been thirty-second in points and needing a win to begin with, and two: that doesn't justify it?

I propose this:
The 2D animated Nascar show taking place in 2021 during the gen 6 era right before the switch to the next gen car. It follows the journey of Chase Elliot, Bubba Wallace, and Ryan Blaney, (choose em cause they were on the Cover of Nascar 21: Ignition) in the 2021 season and dives deep into the beef carrying from off the track and into the garage area.
What do you think memory?
im not quite sure if im misinterpreting, but i think ryan, chase, and bubba are a bad example beef-wise 😭 theyre very well known to be a trio in the sport (having grown up together, raced in xfinity together, etc..) i think it’d be better off as something like chase & dennys beef or something to that effect.

An important Christmas announcement from Santa
The following is an important announcement from Santa. . .
I regret to inform you that, effective immediately, I will no longer be able to serve the Southern United States on Christmas Eve. Due to the overwhelming current population of the earth, my contract was re-negotiated by North American Fairies and Elves Local 209. I now serve only certain areas of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan. As part of the new and better contract I also get longer breaks for milk and cookies so keep that in mind.
However, I'm certain that your children will be in good hands with your local replacement who happens to be my third cousin, Bubba Claus. His side of the family is from the South Pole. He shares my goal of delivering toys to all the good boys and girls; however, there are a few differences between us.
Differences such as:
1. There is no danger of a Grinch stealing your presents from Bubba Claus. He has a gun rack on his sleigh and a bumper sticker that reads: "These toys insured by Smith and Wesson."
2. Instead of milk and cookies, Bubba Claus prefers that children leave an RC cola and pork rinds [or a moon pie] on the fireplace. And Bubba doesn't smoke a pipe. He dips a little snuff though, so please have an empty spit can handy.
3. Bubba Claus' sleigh is pulled by floppy eared, flyin' coon dogs instead of reindeer. I made the mistake of loaning him a couple of my reindeer one time, and Blitzen's head now overlooks Bubba's fireplace.
4. You won't hear "On Comet, on Cupid, on Donner and Blitzen... " when Bubba Claus arrives. Instead, you'll hear, "On Earnhardt, on Wallace, on Martin and Labonte. On Rudd, on Jarrett,on Elliott, and Petty."
5. "Ho, ho, ho!" has been replaced by "Yee Haw!" And you also are likely to hear Bubba's elves respond, "I heer'd dat!"
6. As required by Southern highway laws, Bubba Claus' sleigh does have a Yosemite Sam safety triangle on the back with the words "Back off". The last I heard it also had other decorations on the sleigh back as well. One is Ford or Chevy logo with lights that race through the letters and the other is a caricature of me (Santa Claus) going wee wee on the Tooth Fairy.
7. The usual Christmas movie classics such as "Miracle on 34th Street" and "It's a Wonderful Life" will not be shown in
your negotiated viewing area. Instead, you'll see "Boss Hogg Saves Christmas" and "Smokey and the Bandit IV" featuring Burt Reynolds as Bubba Claus and dozens of state patrol cars crashing into each other.
8. Finally(and most importantly), Bubba Claus doesn't wear a belt. If I were you, I'd make sure you, the wife, and the kids turn the other way when he bends over to put presents under the tree.
Sincerely Yours,
Santa Claus
(member of North American Fairies and Elves Local 209).

NASCAR DRIVER NOAH GREGSON SUSPENDED AFTER APPEARING TO POST "LIKE" TO INSENSITIVE GEORGE FLOYD MURDER!
The original report from PEOPLE By Brenton Blanchet
NASCAR driver Noah Gragson is now "under indefinite suspension" shortly after it was reported that he liked an insensitive meme about George Floyd's 2020 murder.
On Saturday, Legacy Motor Club released a statement about the suspension, noting that Gragson's actions "do not represent the values of our team." Josh Berry instead drove the No. 42 car for this weekend's Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway.
NASCAR released a statement reading - "NASCAR fully supports Legacy Motor Club’s decision to suspend Noah Gragson. Following his actions on social media, NASCAR has determined that Gragson has violated the Member Conduct section of the 2023 NASCAR Rule Book and has placed him under indefinite suspension."
As NBC Sports noted, Section 4.3.E in the Cup Rule Book states that NASCAR members "shall not make or cause to be made a public statement and/or communication that criticizes, ridicules, or otherwise disparages another person based upon that person’s race, color, creed, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, age, or handicapping condition.”
The outlet also cited Section 4.4.D, which states that "statement and/or communication made public (including social media platforms) that demeans, criticizes, ridicules, or otherwise disparages another person based upon that person’s race, color, creed, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, age, or handicapping condition" could result in a fine or indefinite suspension.
Gragson is in his first entire season in the Cup Series and is 33rd in the Cup Series standings, per ESPN.
In June 2020, a month after the death of Floyd sparked nationwide protests, Gragson's fellow driver Bubba Wallace wore a Black Lives Matter shirt during a pre-race ceremony in Atlanta. Wallace then called on NASCAR to eliminate Confederate battle flags from race tracks, and the organization responded by barring their use in "any official" capacity.

welcome to my blog, it is terrible! this is a very detailed about me which is too long to pin because i talk too much x
general
new adult and i want to go back. i use he/they/she pronouns and my gender can be likened to the properties of gallium. don't ask because i'm not sure either. also bisexual as fuck! born and raised welsh raaahhh but my parents are bangladeshi so. banglawelshi x
motorsports
formula one
just to preface, i don't currently hate any driver on the grid right now but not the biggest fan of pierre gasly and nico hulkenberg and on the fence about charles leclerc (you won't see hate though, don't worry). my current drivers are: max verstappen, lewis hamilton, daniel ricciardo, oscar piastri, fernando alonso, valtteri bottas and kevin magnussen. teams are a little more complicated but i basically root for alphatauri, alfa romeo and red bull racing. in terms of ex-f1 drivers/retirees i love jenson button, sebastian vettel, antonio giovinazzi, and nyck de vries.
nascar
its funny how the world works because if you'd have told me last year i'd be a full nascar blog i'd probably laugh in your face but alas, here we are. as if it wasn't obvious enough, my favourite driver is ryan blaney! i like him. a lot. i also root for chase elliott, bubba wallace, brad keselowski, austin cindric, john hunter nemechek, martin truex jr., joey logano and chris buescher, but ignoring kyle larson and noah gragson, i'm okay with most of the drivers. in a (parasocial) love-hate relationship with denny hamlin. of course i'm a hardcore team penske fan but i'm also partial to rfk and 23xi on occasion. huge on jimmie johnson, dale earnhardt jr., kevin harvick, jeff gordon, and kasey kahne too but of course they aren't on the grid.
indycar
my favourite unserious single seater racing series! its an absolute miracle that i hold no disdain against any of the drivers (bar romain grosjean—its a tad complicated. and also goes without saying. fuck santino ferrucci) of course like i said. i'm a penske boy through and through, but i'm partial to a bit of rll on occasion. josef newgarden, will power and scott mclaughlin are my main guys but i'm also attached to alex rossi, graham rahal, kyle kirkwood, scott dixon, pato o'ward and christian lundgaard like a leech. gargantuan enjoyer of dario franchitti, helio castroneves and simon pagenaud too.
motogp
i don't watch it as much as i'd like to but i do plan on doing so going into the next season. am very basic so fabio quartararo, marco bezzecchi, marc marquez and enea bastianini are my riders. partial to a bit of luca marini and pecco bagnaia too. also i'm literally valentino rossi in real life so like. you can't say shit x
other sports
plan on expanding this list this year possibly but i'm not sure. we'll see!
football
am a liverpool girlie (gn) through and through so thats who you'll see most of, but i will admit i do follow nottm forest and watch a couple games here and there (as a guilty pleasure okay?! they are fun to watch). i've also managed to become extremely attached to a couple players from both teams. said players being mo salah, andy robertson, darwin nunez, dominik szoboszlai, alisson becker, neco williams, jesse lingard, brennan johnson. also being welsh, i support the welsh national team until they're booted from the competition in which case i'll support the netherlands. england is my last resort x
miscellaneous
am a very random blog so don't except any consistency in anything whatsoever. i also reblog a lot of animal content and expect chicken content! i have 6 hens all of which i love very much. and just in general! expect a lot of random things on this blog! i am a very all-over-the-place person!
cars
come and talk to me about road cars i beg i love talking about them so much it's the reason i got into motorsports in the first place. don't be surprised if i come into your inbox and ask about your fave road cars
tv shows
not the biggest tv show watcher if i'm being honest, had a brief moment with criminal minds but i only got up to season 5. lord knows when i'll pick it up again. huge top gear fan but unfortunately i have beef with jeremy clarkson so i like flop gear. am also currently watching it's always sunny in philadelphia so we'll see where that leads me. also i have yet to watch a full episode of drive to survive. STREAM NASCAR: full speed ON NETFLIX NOW
movies
again, not the biggest movie watcher but obviously am huge on cars and turbo. also big on talladega nights and then my personal favourite film of all time is brokeback mountain so expect an occasional ennis del mar or jack twist on your dash every now and again.
music
am a big oasis enjoyer and gang of youths superfan (0.001% top listener in 2023 💪💪) as well as huge on sam fender and uhh. central cee. also an abel tesfaye girlie i won't lie. um also lord huron and noah kahan and hozier. but my aforementioned nascar hyperfixation has led me into the beautiful world of country. if you dunk on it fuck you and god bless tyler childers
my art/gifs
i draw and gif things once every millennia believe it or not! i don't tag them so keep an eye out for those lol.
blogkeeping
urls
previously i've been gigglejuice27, gaygglejuice27, horsey-mchorse, kmag-pole and sunshine-5eb. i return to them on occasion.
tagging
i don't tag for shit but if you need something tagged just shoot a message or an ask and we'll get it sorted asap. actually #kdz.lb is liveblogging.
do not interact
gasly superfans, max antis and jos verstappen apologists and larson/gragson enjoyers this probably isn't the blog for you.
if you are a racist, homophobe, terf, islamophobe or a zionist. you will be getting blocked instantly x
asks
ask away! my inbox is always open for anything. theres no promise i'll answer but i will try my best. hate will get deleted though.
dms
feel free to dm me about anything! would love to make more friends. bear in mind i can't keep a convo for shit and i have a very bad habit of ghosting though i'm so sorry
sideblogs
i have a shittonne of sides for saving urls, but other than that we've got @neco-williams, @stonersportz and @austin2cindric for the shiggles
links

Summary and party introduction for campaign the second: Seas of Perim
We’re pirates! The party is under the command of Captain O’Malley, and following a map given to him by his grandfather that’s supposed to lead to some sort of treasure. No one knows what this treasure is, but the navy wants it. So does a demon. Everyone’s a little more concerned about the demon and its cult.
Party
Clarence O’Malley: Human Rogue, Swashbuckler. The captain of the ship- though he’s drunk off his ass 90% of the time. He also canonically looks like Danny Devito
Aurora: Tiefling Monk, Way of the Kensei. The first mate, and whether or not she’s related to the Captain is up for debate. She doesn’t take anyone’s shit and also has a Thing for crazy ladies.
Bubba Gump: Human Bard, College of Lore. The helmsman, steers the ship. That’s it, that’s his whole job. Has stood at the wheel for three days straight at one point. Also high and/or drunk 90% of the time
Heindrik/Lance: Changeling Fighter, Champion I think. Had been posing as human up until recently, and is potentially becoming king of the Changelings. Defected from the navy
Mark Spangler: Human Cleric, Tempest Domain. He’s... He exists. He hasn’t done much, honestly. He’s just a Generic Dude. Every time the player describes him I immediately forget what he looks like
Alexander “Xander” Murphy: Variant Human Bard/Rogue, College of Whispers/Soulknife. The ambassador for the crew. Has family in the navy, don’t recall whether he was in the navy.
E.L. Wallace: Variant Human Cleric/Fighter, Life Domain/Gunslinger. The carpenter and doctor of the crew. Even though he has no carpentry proficiency and has precisely zero bedside manner
Brutus: Bugbear Barbarian, Path of the Berserker. The warden, he watches the brig when we have prisoners. Also generic barbarian. But he was a gladiator
Lady Ydoza: Half-Orc Druid, no idea subclass. The party found her in a desert, she doesn’t have an official job yet. The Captain’s smitten, and she’s horny 24/7
Lirtle: Tortle Warlock, Great Old One Patron. Also doesn’t have an official job, and really just tagging along with the party at this point. He’s old as fuck, and has been accused of being a cultist
Tijan: Wereraven Fighter, unsure subclass. Possible Rogue multiclass. Owns Cabana, a town that’s pretty much just 3 casinos and all the staff are under mind control. Decided he was bored in Cabana and tagged along with the party
Avrik: Triton Warlock, Kraken patron. Or homebrew adjustment of Fathomless. Something like that. He wants to help his patron achieve godhood, and thinks the party can help with that. Not that the party knows this
#Seas of Perim#SoP#This is the most chaotic of the Monday games pffffff#Also I probably misspelled Lady Ydoza's name#To be fair we mostly call her Lady D so
