“Awakening is like the dreamer realizing that the dream and their own essence are one and the same; from this revelation springs a dance of existence where separation fades into symphony."

Birth of the World :: Joan Miro
* * * *
"All human lives are so profoundly and intricately entwined - those dead, those living, those generations yet to come - that the fate of all is the fate of each, and the hope of humanity rests in every heart and in every pair of hands."
~ Dean Koontz, 'From the Corner of His Eye'

Tree-Persons
I've been thinking a lot about humanity's kinship with trees in a Heathen animist context recently. For example, in one creation myth the first humans are made from two trees, and there are over 600 recorded kennings for people that include comparing humans to trees. This has made me think about trees as our cousins and what that means for our relations with them.
To help explore these ideas, I drew this picture and I’m really proud of the result. The runes around the outside say “for good relations with all our kin, human and non-human.”

“In surrendering to the darkness, we encounter a radiant stillness, an unconditioned luminosity that reveals the spirit’s essence, untouched by dualities of light and shadow, self and other.”

"Human history can be viewed as a shared dawning awareness that we are members of a larger ecosystem. Initially our loyalties were to ourselves and our immediate family, next, to bands of wandering hunter-gatherers, then to tribes, small settlements, city-states, and nations.
Now we have broadened the circle of those we love. We have organized ourselves into super-powers... larger groups of people from divergent ethnic and cultural backgrounds working in some sense together... surely a humanizing and character building experience.
But if we are to survive much longer on this planet, our loyalties must be broadened further, to include the whole of humanity and the whole of planet Earth. Many of those who run our nations will find this idea unpleasant. They will fear the loss of power. We will hear much about treason and disloyalty. Rich nation-states will have to share their wealth with poor ones. But the choice, as H. G. Wells once said, is clearly... the universe or nothing."

The Wonder of the Present Moment: Unpacking Thich Nhat Hanh’s Mindfulness Meditation
Uncover the profound joy in Thich Nhat Hanh's mindfulness meditation, experiencing peace, interconnection, and the wonder of the present moment.
Thich Nhat Hanh, a revered Zen Buddhist monk, teaches the practice of mindful breathing, encouraging us to dwell in the present moment and recognize its innate wonder. His meditative phrase “Dwelling in the present moment, I know it is a wonderful moment,” encapsulates the essence of mindfulness and the joy of being present. Let’s explore the depth of this powerful phrase. Arriving at the…
