Phone buying update 👍 gonna have to take a fucking, moment LMAO. I have seen so many beautiful phones to buy. And I will. But I am not that fucking rich. I've been spending a lot of money lately. This is good for my health tho. I'm really excited to, actually do something with my bedroom.
One thing I kinda super want to buy despite being as expensive as a phone is this little... Phone shaped ceramic thing for rings. But I'd focus less on accessories for now more on the real thing.
I'm torn in which model to buy first. My options are that 500 model looking beauty or the baquelita model. I'm more leaning for the type 500 looking cutie. Bc he's stupid cheap. 7500 bc of a dent. There's a fixed one at 15k but do I look like a collectionist? I'm just a faggot. I don't discriminate.
I'm also gonna be wasting money tomorrow. Gotta buy silly things. (Pens, paper. Gonna start journaling).
Excited for my FETAP on Thursday tho. We opening the only fans boys /J

little family || remus lupin
pairing: remus lupin x reader 1,258 words, single mom! reader, established relationship, FLUFFY FLUFF, kid fic, maybe i just crave domesticity a/n: back to back fics like who is she... (had this in the drafts for a WHILE) omfg guys this was soooo crazy indulgent I'm gong crazy no i did not proof read but i hope you like it anway
Remus is just about to leave work when he gets the call. He sees your contact name pop up on his screen, Y/N <3.
"Hello?" he says when he picks up the call.
"Hi, Re," you reply. You voice sounds rushed and anxious. "Do you happen to be free today?"
"I am, love. What is it?" he asks softly, stopping in his tracks to listen to you.
"Something came up at work today that I have to stay and handle, could you pick up Lyla from daycare?"
Lyla, a little girl equivalent to a ball of sunshine. Though you had only been dating for over a year, he sees her as his own.
"Of course I will. I'll bring her back to yours?"
"Yes please, thank you so much. I'll buy takeout for dinner when I'm done. You okay with that?"
"Yeah, sure. I'll go pick her up now."
He hears you heave a sigh of relief over the phone. "I appreciate you so much, I love you."
He smiles. "I love you, too. I'll see you later."
Remus reaches the daycare and realises he doesn't know what he's supposed to do. He walks by the window and sees Lyla colouring in her classroom. She notices the movement and looks up from her drawing. He can't hear her through the window but she's jumping around and cheering at the sight of him, waving excitedly.
He waves back at her, smiling, then notices one of her teachers gesturing to meet her at the entrance.
She gets past the gate to the classroom, leaving Lyla behind. "Hi, I know you're here for Lyla but since you're not her mum I'm going to need your ID," she says pulling out a file from one of the shelves.
He pulls out his wallet and gives it to her and watches her scan a list of what seems to be names of parents of the children.
She takes a few seconds and finally says, "Ah yes, Remus Lupin. You're on her list. I'll get her for you." He watches the teacher look into the classroom and call Lyla.
And then he realises. He's on the list. He's on the list of people who can pick Lyla up from daycare. You put him on the list of people who can pick Lyla up from daycare.
He's snapped out of his thoughts when he hears Lyla's voice. "Remoose!" she yells, running up to him.
"Hiya, angel," he says and picks her up. His heart melts as she immediately wraps her arms around his neck for a hug. "Mummy will join us later, but for now it's just you and me, okay?"
"We can watch TV?" she asks. "And then- then play toys?"
"Mhm, that sounds like a good plan," Remus replies, and they head to your home.
Later, you turn your key to your flat and open the door. You can hear the television playing a movie and the sound of your daughter's laughter. You kick off your shoes and walk into the living room.
Remus is covered in the fake makeup from Lyla's child-friendly kit. His hair is also adorned with little flower hair clips. He sits cross-legged on the floor while she sits in his lap.
"Looks like you had a lot of fun without me, hm?" you say. Lyla jumps at the sound of your voice, immediately running to you.
"Mummy! Remus fetched me today!"
"I know, darling," you kiss her cheek. "I asked him to. Did he take good care of you?"
She nods aggressively. She runs back to Remus, who is already walking up to you.
"Well don't you look pretty today," you tease. He smiles and breathes a soft laugh.
"My makeup artist is talented. She's very serious about this," he presses a kiss to your forehead. "You hungry? I can heat up dinner."
"That'd be great, and then it's time for this bug to go to bed," you pick up Lyla. "Isn't that right?"
She lays her head on your shoulder, visibly getting sleepy as it gets closer to her usual bedtime.
"Say good night to Remus?" you turn your body, so she faces him.
Remus bends down to kiss her hair, "Good night, angel."
Lyla slowly closes her eyes, "G'night..."
Putting your baby to bed goes smoothly, and she easily winds down as she is tucked into bed. She snuggles into her blanket and looks up at you.
"I like it when Remus fetches me from school," you hear her mumble.
You smile at that. "Really?"
She nods. "I really like Remus."
"I really like Remus too, darling."
"I think you get very happy around him, Mummy," she whispers. "You were not very happy last year, but now I see you be happy with him. So I'm happy."
You feel your heart do something. Jump? Lurch? Lyla was right, being a single parent comes with its challenges and you can admit a lot of late nights were spent biting your nails and wiping tears from your cheeks. You tried your best to prevent her from seeing you in that state, but you know she's observant enough for her age.
And that's why you're so thankful to have met Remus. He accepted you despite the fact you had a whole child. He saw you not only as you but also as the mother of your child. He understood that Lyla would always be a priority to you over romance (unlike most men you've met). Despite all its complications, he has been able to fit into your lives as if he's already meant to be there.
A prime example could be taken from today. Surely he could've said no to picking up Lyla from daycare, he's just her mother's boyfriend, after all. But he agreed and handled the rest.
"He does make me really happy," you say to her. "Does he make you happy too?"
"Mhm! He always plays with me and watches shows with me. He also hugs me and kisses me. He makes me happy. He's like my Daddy."
You chuckle, trying to hide the way your heart is going crazy at that. Somehow, you take the leap. "You want Remus to be your Daddy?"
"Can I call him my Daddy?" she asks, her eyes hopeful.
"You'll have to ask him tomorrow," you say, and you wonder what his reaction would be.
"Okay, I'll ask him tomorrow. Good night, Mummy."
You kiss her forehead, "Good night, darling."
You walk out of her room to see Remus placing your plate of food on the table for you. Without saying anything, you approach him and hug him. He hugs you back.
He is silent for a while, swaying your body slowly as you hug. "You were in there for a while, what were you talking about?" he mumbles into your hair.
You take a deep breath and look up at him, chin resting on your chest. "I love you," you say.
He furrows his brows but nods anyway. "I love you, too."
"Lyla wants to call you her dad."
Remus stops swaying. What is he thinking?
"Okay," he says, simply.
You jerk your head back, "Really?"
"Of course, I love her too, you know. I'd be honoured."
Chuckling, you bury your head into his chest and squeeze him. You feel him press a kiss into your hair.
"We're like a little family," he whispers to you. And you can see it too. You, your daughter, and Remus altogether as one.
And there's honestly nothing you want more than that.
a/n: SO LIKE UM this has been in the drafts about the same time as the james one like i said this is just very very indulgent brainrot i still have plans for the james series!!!!!!! ty sm for your support <3 likes and reblogs are always appreciated.

LORE | REKINDLED EPISODE 42 - TO THE RESCUE
Previous episode | Next episode
Y'all, this episode. Holy crap. I know it's not a very long one and not much in terms of plot happens compared to previous episodes, but it's one that I've been looking forward to for ages now because it gave me the opportunity to pay tribute to that original sequence in S1, a sequence that captivated so many fans and former fans of the comic such as myself (I had the final panel as my phone background for like 2 years LMAO). Being able to redraw that scene with our own twist on it was such an amazing process, made all the better by @banshriek's amazing contributions in the background art (seriously, the background art is CARRYING this episode, I'm so grateful and proud of their work and how much they've contributed to this little spite project).
What also helped immensely was our recent anon savior who provided us with so many brush names and design notes for how they're used in LO, we had waaay too much fun using these brushes every chance we got LOL and we're gonna continue to use them because goddamn they're beautiful. Buckle up because the new year is gonna be LIT (•̀⌄•́)
In other news, halfway through the production of this episode I finally replaced my PC drawing tablet! I'm still using my Huion Kamvas 22 Plus as a monitor, but in searching for a new screen tablet, I got cold feet and decided to settle for a cheaper desk tablet instead, a Huion Inspiroy Giano. So far it's great, it's a bit on the larger side which I didn't fully realize when I bought it, so it's taken quite a bit of adjusting (plus I haven't used a desk tablet as my main drawing tool in... geez, 8 years??) but it's like riding a bike, you never really forget LOL So yeah, it's gonna make my drawing workflow a lot faster and more efficient now that I don't have to rely purely on my iPad (goodbye touch screen mishaps, hello keyboard shortcuts!) so I'm hoping it'll show in the episodes to come!
Thank you all so much for reading ( ´ ∀ `)ノ~ ♡

Welcome to Amsterdam | Part three: Last day of the festival.
Part two
Paring: Joost Klein x female!reader
Description: Leaving Joost's place thinking you were just one of his one nightstands, meeting up with your friend and going to the last day of the festival. There you meet Joost who was confused by your sudden departure, begging you to let him try and convince you that you meant something more.
Warnings: 18+, MDNI, smut, oral giving, PIV ,unprotected , Joost being a bit rough, smoking, alcohol
Word count: 4K+
When you woke up, you found yourself cozily entwined with Joost, his hand nestled under your shirt, gently holding your breast. You carefully moved yourself from his embrace and slipped into yesterday's clothes, opting for Joost's shirt instead of your own. As you glanced back at him before leaving, he looked serene, as if he hadn't a care in the world.
Feeling a mixture of emotions, you hesitated by the nightstand. You wanted to linger a moment longer, to savor the intimacy of the night just passed, yet the reality of the situation nudged you forward. With a soft sigh, you picked up a pen and wrote on the note: "Thanks for the night / Y/N ♥ ️".
Though you felt a pang of guilt for not saying goodbye in person, you believed it was the best course to avoid any potential awkwardness. With quiet steps, you made your exit, ensuring not to disturb his peaceful slumber.
As you closed the door behind you, you checked your phone and noticed a message from Sara:
5 minutes ago: Should I wait for you or go without you to the festival?
You quickly replied:
I'm on my way back, taking an Uber. I will be at yours in 5.
In the Uber, you texted Sara again as you approached her place:
I'm outside in like 1 minute, can you open the door for me?
Yes 👍🏼
You stepped out of the Uber and walked towards Sara, who was standing in the doorway with a welcoming smile.
"Morning," you greeted her with a sheepish grin.
"Morning," she replied, raising an eyebrow. "How was your night?"
"Interesting," you said, laughing lightly. "I'll tell you all about it later."
"Can't wait," Sara chuckled. "Come on, we need to get ready for the festival, we can't miss the last day"
You followed Sara inside and headed straight to your room to freshen up. Changing into your festival outfit—tiny jean shorts and a pink bikini top—Sara filled you in on the day's plans.
"We're meeting up with some others at noon," she said, fixing her hair. "There's a great lineup today so I hope you're ready to dance."
"Always," you replied with a grin. "Who's coming?"
"Some friends from the club," Sara answered. "Plus a few new faces. It'll be fun."
You nodded, anticipation building as you imagined the day ahead, filled with music, new friends, and endless moments of joy under the summer sun.
After you finished getting ready, you joined Sara in the kitchen, where she was sipping a drink.
"I'm so glad you could make it," Sara said, handing you a drink she just made. "Today's going to be epic."
"I'm excited too," you replied, taking a sip. It was fresh with just a hint of alcohol.
Sara agreed, "It's gonna be awesome."
With everything set, you grabbed your essentials and followed Sara outside, ready for an unforgettable day at the festival. The buzz of anticipation growing stronger with each step. As you arrived near the festival grounds, the music thumped in the distance, drawing you closer to the vibrant energy of the crowd.
"I can already feel the beat," Sara grinned, leading the way through the entrance grabbing on to your hand as she skipped along instead of walking. "Let's find our friends and kick off this day!"
You followed Sara into the lively festival atmosphere. The sun was shining brightly, and the area was already buzzing with festival-goers. As you walked, you felt excited and ready for a new day. The night's events still lingered in your mind, but you pushed them aside, focusing on the day ahead.
You and Sara quickly found your new friends, who welcomed you with hugs and cheers.
"Sara! You made it!" some guy shouted over the music.
"Wouldn't miss it for the world," Sara replied, joining the group. “This is Y/N, the girl that went missing last night” ,you waved to everyone with an embarrassed smile. Had she told everyone you went home with someone; did they know it was Joost?
You, Sara, and your new friends made it to one of the sets you had been talking about, watching from the pit. All of you danced along to the songs playing from the stage, caught up in the electric atmosphere. The crowd around you was buzzing with energy, everyone moving in sync with the music. As the bass reverberated through the air and the lights flashed in time with the beat, you felt a sense of unity and exhilaration. You shared smiles and laughter, the music creating an unforgettable experience.
The day flew by in a whirlwind of music, dancing, and laughter. You let yourself get lost in the rhythm, savoring every moment. As the sun began to set, you found yourself standing at the edge of the crowd, taking in the vibrant scene before you. The music flowed through the area, wrapping around you like a comforting embrace.
You watched as the colorful lights started to illuminate the festival grounds, casting a magical glow over everything. The sky turned shades of orange and pink, creating a stunning backdrop for the evening. You took a deep breath, feeling the excitement and energy of the crowd mingling with your own.
"Hey," a familiar voice called from behind you.
You turned to see Joost, smiling warmly. "Hey," you replied, feeling a flutter of surprise.
"I didn't expect to see you here," he said, stepping closer.
"Same here," you admitted. "How are you?"
"Good, good," he nodded. "I got your note. Thanks for that."
"Yeah, I'm sorry. I'm not good at goodbyes," you explained. "Thought it was better to slip out quietly."
"I get it," Joost said, his gaze meeting yours. "But I'm glad I ran into you because you never gave me your number," he said, reaching out for your hand.
"Oh, I didn't think you wanted it," you replied, looking down at his hand enveloping yours.
"Why not?" Joost asked, tilting his head like a confused puppy.
"I don't know, just assumed," you answered, still looking down, not ready to make eye contact.
"Huh, I thought I made it obvious," he said, using his free hand to lift your chin, making you look into his eyes.
They were dreamy, blue like the ocean or the sky on a perfect summer day. As you faced him, you gave him a small smile.
"Do you think I could convince you to give it to me over a few drinks, my treat?" he asked with a hopeful grin.
You couldn't help but laugh softly. "Alright," you said, feeling a warmth spread through you. "Drinks sound good."
Joost's smile widened. "Meet me at my trailer in one hour, okay?" he said, letting go of your hand.
You nodded. "Sure."
"Great," he replied, his eyes sparkling. "I promise it'll be worth it."
As Joost turned to leave, you watched him disappear into the crowd, your heart pounding. You returned to your friends, unable to wipe the smile from your face. The festival seemed even more vibrant now.
As the sun continued its descent, you and your friends danced with abandon, swept up in the infectious rhythm of the festival. Laughter and chatter filled the air around you, mingling with the beats of the music that seemed to grow louder with each passing moment.
Occasionally, you stole glances at your watch, ensuring you wouldn't lose track of time. The anticipation of meeting Joost at his trailer added an extra spark to your movements, making every second count as you enjoyed the company of your friends and the electrifying atmosphere of the festival.
As the hour approached, you excused yourself from the dance floor. Making your way through the crowd, you navigated the festival grounds until you found Joost's trailer in the backstage area.
You knocked lightly on the door, heart fluttering with a mixture of nerves and excitement. The door swung open, revealing Joost standing there with a welcoming smile that sent a rush of warmth through you.
"Hey," he greeted you warmly as he stepped out. "Ready for an incredible evening with an incredible guy?" He reached out to give you a hug.
"Hi to you too," you replied, accepting the hug warmly with a chuckle.
As you parted from the hug, he casually draped his arm over your shoulder and guided you towards the bustling bar area at the festival. The air was alive with laughter and music, and you couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement as you navigated through the lively crowd.
Conversation flowed easily between you as you found a spot at the bar, ordering drinks and sharing anecdotes from the festival so far. The warmth of his arm around your shoulder felt comforting and familiar, adding to the festive ambiance surrounding you.
As the night wore on, you both became increasingly absorbed in each other's presence.
"Wanna head to town?" he offered as the festival neared its close.
You nodded, allowing him to lead the way out.
The festival lights adorned the night sky with a mesmerizing array of colors, creating a magical ambiance. Hand in hand, the two of you continued to wander the festival grounds before eventually making your way towards town.
As you made your way into town, Joost reached into his pocket and retrieved a packet of cigarettes. With practiced ease, he plucked one with his lips, then glanced at you and softly asked, "Want one?" Extending the pack in your direction.
You accepted with a smile. "Thanks," you replied, taking one and placing it between your lips. You reached into your pocket, retrieved a lighter, and ignited it.
Joost paused, halting his steps as he patiently awaited you to light your cigarette. After you took your first inhale, you glanced up to find Joost nearby, anticipating your help to light his. He shielded the flame with his hand against the breeze. As you lit his cigarette, he drew in a breath to even out the burn, then tilted his head back, exhaling smoke into the night sky.
Afterward, he leaned down and kissed you. "Thank you, Liefje," he murmured, using the affectionate term from the night before. You were taken aback by the kiss and his use of the endearing pet name.
He wrapped his arm around you as he started to walk again, chatting all the way to the bar about everything and anything. The warmth of his touch and the ease of your conversation made you feel completely at ease.
As you reached the bar, a fan approached him, asking for a photo. He released his arm from around you and took the fan's phone, reaching it out to you. "Can you take it?" he asked, tilting his head with a playful smile.
"Of course," you replied, taking the phone and snapping a few photos. The fan thanked you both profusely before heading off with a huge grin.
Joost turned back to you, his eyes shining with gratitude. "Thanks for that. Now, how about we get some drinks?" He signaled to the bartender and ordered for both of you.
As you waited for your drinks, he leaned in closer. "You know, I've been thinking about you all day," he confessed. His sincerity made your heart skip a beat, and you couldn't help but smile in return.
"Me too," you admitted, looking into his eyes and thinking about yesterday's events. As the memories played back in your head, you felt a blush creeping up. "Yesterday was great," you continued, looking down at the table to hide your reddening face from just the thought alone.
Joost noticed your reaction and chuckled softly. "I'm glad you enjoyed it," he said, his voice warm and reassuring. He reached out, gently lifting your chin so you could meet his gaze. "You don't need to hide," he added with a playful wink. Feeling a bit more at ease, you smiled back at him. His thumb brushes lightly against your cheek. "I had a great time too.”
The bartender arrived with your drinks, breaking the moment. Joost handed you your drink and raised his glass. "Proost!" he said smiling before taking a chug of his drink.
The two of you chatted and laughed, sharing stories and enjoying each other's company. The energy buzzed around you, but it felt like you were in your own little world. As the night went on, you found yourselves moving closer.
Eventually, the music from the stage caught your attention. Joost stood up and extended his hand. "Shall we dance?" he asked with a smile.
"Absolutely," you replied, taking his hand and allowing him to lead you back into the heart of the dance floor, eager to spend the night dancing together. He held you close from behind, just as he had the night before, and you melted into his arms, moving in sync with the music.
"Have I convinced you yet, schat?" he said, whispering in your ear as you swayed with him.
You glanced back, still keeping your back towards him, a smile playing on your lips. "Maybe," you answered coyly, before turning your head away.
Joost took your hand and swiftly spun you around to face him. "So, can I get your number then?" he asked, tilting his head once more with a hopeful expression.
You met Joost's gaze, a playful glint in his eyes matching the slight grin on his lips. His charm was undeniable, and you found yourself caught up in the moment.
"Well, you'll have to earn it," you teased, your voice soft as you leaned in closer to him.
Joost chuckled, his hand still gently holding yours. "I like a challenge," he replied with a wink, his confidence adding to the allure.
The night air was warm around you, filled with the sounds of laughter and music. You felt a surge of excitement as Joost leaned in closer, kissing you passionately and dipping you playfully making you laugh.
He pulled you back up, his hand now resting gently on your waist. "So, have I earned it yet?" he asked with a teasing grin.
You pretended to ponder for a moment, enjoying teasing him. Finally, you leaned in and whispered your number in his ear.
Joost's smile widened as he heard your whispered number, a victorious gleam in his eyes. "Excellent," he murmured, his voice low and husky with satisfaction as he pulled out his phone and quickly added you to his contacts so as not to forget it.
The music continued to pulse around you as Joost kept his arm around your waist, drawing you closer. The playful energy between you intensified.
"I look forward to getting to know you better," Joost said, his tone sincere as he brushed a strand of hair from your face.
You nodded, feeling a flutter of anticipation. "Me too," you replied, your voice barely above a whisper.
He leaned in, kissing you once more before whispering in your ear, "Wanna go somewhere private? Maybe your place this time."
His warm breath against your ear sent a shiver down your spine. You glanced up at Joost, meeting his gaze filled with desire.
A smile played on your lips as you nodded in agreement. "Sure," you replied softly, your voice barely audible over the music. Joost took your hand, leading you out as he had done the day before.
Arriving at your place, Joost held your gaze as he gently brushed a strand of hair from your face. Leaning in, he kissed you pushing you against the door, the unexpected chill causing you to jump back from the passionate embrace.
Joost chuckled softly at your reaction, his eyes sparkling with amusement and desire. He took a step back, giving you space to collect yourself, though his gaze remained intense and inviting.
"Sorry about that," he said with a sheepish grin, his voice husky with lingering passion. "Got a bit carried away."
You couldn't help but smile back, feeling a mix of nervousness and excitement. "It's okay," you replied softly, your heart still racing from the sudden intensity of his kiss.
He reached out, his hand lingering on your arm as he leaned closer again, his lips brushing against yours in a gentler, more tender kiss this time. The warmth of his touch and the lingering taste of him on your lips sent a wave of desire through you.
Breaking away momentarily, you stepped back to retrieve your keys and unlocked the door. As you stepped inside and closed the door behind you, Joost wasted no time. He pressed you against the door once more, his kiss hungry and passionate, as if he had been desperate to taste you all night.
Joost's kiss was electrifying, filled with the pent-up desire of the evening. His hands gently cupped your face, deepening the kiss as he pressed his body against yours. The door behind you provided a solid support as you melted into his embrace, the heat of the moment enveloping both of you.
Lost in the sensation of his lips on yours, you felt a surge of excitement and longing. Joost's touch was tender yet urgent, his breath mingling with yours in the closeness of the kiss. Time seemed to stand still as you both savored the intensity of the connection that had been building throughout the night.
His lips trailed down your neck, sending shivers of pleasure through you. Each touch, each caress fueled the fire between you, intensifying the mutual desire that had simmered beneath the surface.
"I need you," Joost whispered against your skin, his voice husky with desire. His words sent a thrill through you.
Before you could respond, the room suddenly lit up as Sara entered, her presence surprising you both.
"Well, I guess welcome home to my house," she quipped with a knowing smile, clearly amused by the scene unfolding before her.
You and Joost quickly separated, though the charged atmosphere lingered between you. Sara's arrival had interrupted a moment that was becoming increasingly heated, leaving an awkward but humorous tension in the air.
Joost cleared his throat, attempting to regain his composure. "Sorry, Sara," he said, running a hand through his messy hair with a sheepish grin. "We didn't mean to... uh, intrude."
Sara chuckled softly, shaking her head as she leaned against the doorway. "No worries," she replied casually. "Just didn't expect to find you two making yourselves… '' she stopped for a moment before she continued “ So homely”
You felt a blush rising to your cheeks, trying to find the right words to diffuse the situation. "It's not what it looks like," you managed to say, though the glint in Sara's eye suggested she was thoroughly enjoying teasing you.
Joost stepped in, ever the smooth talker. "We were just... getting comfortable," he said, his tone light but with a hint of mischief.
Sara raised an eyebrow playfully. "Uh-huh," she teased, drawing out the syllable. "Well, don't let me interrupt. I'll just grab a drink and let you two continue... getting comfortable."
As Sara disappeared into the kitchen, you couldn't help but laugh softly at the situation. Joost grinned at you, his eyes filled with amusement and lingering desire. Despite the interruption, the chemistry between you was undeniable.
"So," Joost said, breaking the brief silence, "where were we?"
You smiled, feeling a rush of anticipation. "I think we were just getting started," you replied, your voice tinged with a playful invitation. Taking Joost's hand, you led him towards your room, passing through the kitchen where Sara was filling a glass of water at the sink.
"Just yell my name if you want me to join you guys," Sara called out with a laugh as you crossed the threshold into your room.
You turned back with a smile. "I promise we'll be quiet," you reassured her, closing the door behind you.
In the intimacy of your room, you met Joost's eyes once again, now dark with desire.
The quiet of your room and the atmosphere cracklin with anticipation. Joost closed the distance between you, his eyes never leaving yours, filled with a mixture of longing and excitement. The playful banter with Sara had added a touch of lightheartedness to the moment, but now it was just the two of you, the intensity palpable.
He gently cradled your face in his hands, his touch both tender and commanding. "You're so beautiful," he murmured, his voice low and husky with desire. Leaning in with hunger, he kissed you passionately, guiding you backwards until the edge of your bed met the back of your legs. With a deliberate push, he got you onto the bed, urgency evident in his movements. He swiftly removed his shirt and then moved atop you, his lips seeking yours again as he left a trail of eager kisses and marks of desire on your neck. Soon, his attention shifted downward, to your chest adorned only by the pink bikini top from the festival.
His hand slid down, shifting the top slightly and leaving your nipple exposed to the cool air. "So fucking beautiful," he whispered, his voice husky with desire, as he squeezed your breast before taking it into his mouth. His lips danced on your skin as he fondled you, eliciting a small moan from you that you bit your lip to stifle.
Your breath quickened as Joost continued his motions, his touch sending waves of pleasure through you. His lips and tongue teased and caressed, igniting a fire that burned hotter with each passing moment. You arched into his touch, your hands finding their way into his hair as you surrendered to the sensations coursing through your body.
Joost lifted his head to meet your gaze, his eyes dark with desire. "I want you," he whispered, his voice rough with need.
The intensity of his words sent a thrill through you, your own desire matching his. Without hesitation, you reached for him, pulling him closer as your lips found his in a hungry kiss. The heat between you intensified, fueled by the longing that had built throughout the night.
As your kisses deepened, his hand ventured downward, slipping between your legs and tracing the fabric of your shorts. He tugged at the waistband, trying to undo the button of your jeans. His movements were erratic and unsteady, but after a moment of fumbling, he successfully unbuttoned them. With growing urgency, he tore them off somewhat aggressively, consumed by desire as he was growing more desperate. In his haste, your underwear quickly followed. His hands roamed over your exposed skin, the urgency in his touch matching the intensity of your kisses. He pulled you closer, his desire evident.
He quickly pulled away to unbutton his own jeans. You sat up and reached for the bulge straining against the fabric, teasing him with a playful look as you bit your lip. He grunted, finally managing to open his jeans, pushing them down along with his underwear in one swift motion. His erection sprang free, lightly brushing against your face.
You glanced up at him, your eyes filled with mischief, as you wrapped your hand around him, feeling the heat and hardness. Slowly, you leaned in, planting a soft kiss on the tip before running your tongue along his length. He let out a low groan ”Y/N”, his hand tangling in your hair as he guided you closer, his desire growing more intense with each passing second.
You took him deeper into your mouth, your movements slow and deliberate, savoring the taste and the sounds of his increasing pleasure. His grip in your hair tightened, his breath coming in ragged gasps as you worked your magic. With each motion, you felt his body tensing, his control slipping away.
He pulled you up suddenly, capturing your lips in a fervent kiss, his hands exploring your body with urgency. In one fluid motion, he guided you onto your back, positioning himself between your legs. His eyes met yours, filled with lust, as he slowly entered you, the sensation sending waves of pleasure through both of you.
He began to move, his rhythm steady and deep, each thrust intensifying the connection between you. Your bodies moved in perfect sync, every touch and kiss heightening the pleasure. You wrapped your legs around him, pulling him closer, your breaths mingling as you whispered each other's names.
The room was filled with the sounds of your shared passion, each moment more intoxicating than the last. His pace quickened, the tension building within both of you. Your fingers dug into his back, urging him on, as you felt yourself nearing the edge.
He pulled out and grunted, "Turn around, schatje" motioning for you to get on all fours. You obeyed, positioning yourself as he instructed. As soon as you were steady, his hand came down sharply on your skin, making you let out a whimpering scream.
Entering you again from this new vantage point, he leaned in and whispered in your ear, "Sound so pretty for me, ja?" as he placed a kiss on the back of your neck.
His words sent shivers down your spine as he began to move again, his thrusts deep and deliberate. You responded to his rhythm, your sounds of pleasure growing louder with each powerful motion. His hands gripped your hips firmly, guiding you in sync with his movements.
He leaned in closer, his breath hot against your ear as he murmured words of encouragement and praise, each one intensifying your arousal. The sensation of his body against yours, combined with the raw intensity of his whispers, drove you to the edge.
With a final, forceful thrust, you both reached a shattering climax, your cries of ecstasy filling the room. He stayed close, his body pressed against yours as you both caught your breath.
Gently, he pulled you back into his arms, holding you close as you both basked in the lingering warmth. His fingers traced light patterns on your skin, sending tiny shivers through you. He whispered sweet nothings into your ear, his voice a soothing balm to your senses.
You turned your head to meet his gaze, the intensity in his eyes reflecting how much he adorned you. He kissed you tenderly, the softness of his lips a stark contrast to the intensity of moments before. Wrapped in his embrace, you felt a profound sense of contentment, knowing that this connection was more than just physical; it was the beginning of something deeply intimate.
You lay there together, bodies entwined, feeling the steady rhythm of his heartbeat against yours. The room was filled with a comforting silence, broken only by your gentle breaths and the occasional whisper of affection. As you drifted into a peaceful slumber, you knew that this was a moment you would cherish.

What are your thoughts on guardians vol.3? (If you have watched it) I went into it, expecting it went to the garbage like the rest of the mcu, but I was pleasantly surprised by its creativity, trope subversion, and how it wrapped up the previously unresolved arks of its characters.
That's what I've heard!
The thing is, Guardians 3 could be the most transcendent work of cinema ever made, and I'd probably still feel little to no motivation to watch it at this point. It's not Guardians's fault - it's just suffering from the same problem that superhero comics have been struggling with for decades: no matter how good an individual arc or run is, absolutely nothing good lasts or matters in the long term, and the stories are shaped in such a way that "the long term" is the only thing anyone gets to build towards.
Whenever I complain about the MCU I get a handful of people loudly complaining about my complaining, with the general thesis that if I don't like it I shouldn't watch it or talk about it - if I'm not having fun, just stop engaging with it. And the thing is, I have. I am intellectually interested in why this massive franchise is fumbling the bag so hard, which is why I still check in on it sometimes, but I've long since stopped turning to the MCU for uncritical entertainment. And even the good movies or shows with a lot of interesting ideas - good character arcs, fun concepts, interesting planting for future payoff - don't draw me in anymore, because they're hooked into a massive moneymaking machine that will scrap and squander anything if they think it'll make them more in the quarter. It doesn't matter how good the writing is, because the writers are not allowed to tell a complete, finished story, and they have no control over what happens to their characters outside of their own script.
Captain America's arc was set up from literally minute one to answer one burning question at the core of his character: does a world without a war still need Captain America? After that incredibly basic tee-up at the end of First Avenger, half a dozen movies failed to come up with a reason to say "yes," and now Steve is retired for good after getting fumbled through four different storylines that couldn't even pretend that they needed him (the unused Chekhov's Phone from the end of Civil War still haunts me). The foundational arc of his entire character never happened because nobody bothered to keep track of it past a single movie.
Taika did something interesting with Thor in Ragnarok - take away Mjolnir, force him to recognize what it means to be the god of thunder, give him a very Odin-y missing eye - and the very next movie undid all of it. Just kidding, never mind, here's an eye and a new weapon and also his old weapon again, and in one more movie we're even gonna give him his hair back, probably as an apology for all the completely unironic fatphobia we're gonna slather him in for two and a half hours. I'm not even surprised Love And Thunder was such an overblown mess that barely took itself seriously - why would Taika bother trying to give Thor another arc when the powers that be will just roll it back in six months anyway?
I hear Rocket Raccoon has a fantastic arc in this movie. That's great, and demonstrates that he's being written by a writer that deeply cares about him. But he's part of the MCU, and the MCU doesn't let anything end, so if current patterns hold, Rocket is going to continue to serve as quippy plushie-bait for the next dozen movies and none of that depth is going to come through in the long term. Hell, since they're making Kang noises for the Next Big Threat and Kang's entire gimmick is rewriting timelines, literally none of this is guaranteed to matter. By next year, it might not have even happened anymore.
The MCU has successfully shaped itself into a paradigm where the bright spots of good writing are overridden and lost as soon as the writers room turns over, and that makes it really hard for me to muster up the enthusiasm to watch even a really good movie that's locked into the exact same grist mill as everything else. I'm glad people liked it, I hope it gets to stay good this time - I just have no desire to watch it.

Hiya Hiya! Me again! Was wondering if you were up for doing SBG main six with (hard to explain for me) S/O that like fidgets a lot?(I think that's what people would call it, I honestly don't know.) Examples: S/O gets bored so they draw on themselves, S/O gets bored so they draw on (SBG main six)'s hand 9r wherever, S/O gets bored/needs to fidget with something? Don't worry (SBG main six)'s hands/fingers are perfect to play/mess with(to clarify NOT in a inappropriate way, for all those dirty minded people).
-⭐️ Anon
P.S: do headcanons if needed or whatever you want! Also DONT feel like you have to do my request, only do it if you want to!
hello again!! :3 I believe what your explaining is kinda like adhd sorta? I get what your trying to say either way and i think this is a great request :D also don't worry I actually like fanfic writing so your requests are always a fun activity for me
Warnings- very fluffy, small/short one-shots/storys, definitely spelling errors, your already dating them in this
Sbg x fidgety reader!!
◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇
Ashlen
you where all hanging out at the school bus graveyard doing whatever (talking, catching up of school, sleep, ect.) You where sitting next to ashlen who was just chilling sitting on her phone
You where fidgeting with your hands or the end of your shirt just looking around as the others do whatever they where doing and ashlen notices your fidgeting
"Somthing bothering you?"
She looks over at you as you turn your head to meet her gaze
"Hm? Oh- no I'm fine, why?"
"You won't stop fidgeting with your fingers and shirt"
"Ohh that's just something I sorta do I don't really know why"
She raises a eyebrow at you but doesn't push anything as she l9oks back at her phone you go back to looking around before she holds her hand out to you
She didn't look at you as she did she just held her hand out and you happily grab it and just fidget with her fingers slightly just enjoying the surprising peaceful moment
That aiden may or may not have ruined after a while
◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇
Aiden
You where all in the phantom dimension just hanging out in the school bus graveyard, there was no big plans today so you where all just kinda chilling
Aiden was sitting next to you in one of the bus seats surprisingly not doing anything to stupid and you where just drawing on your jeans with some pen you found
"Whatcha doing?"
"Drawing"
You continue to draw on your jeans as aiden leans over you watching you doodle
"Can I draw on you?"
You say randomly as you look up at him which his usual smile grows in excitement
"Only if I can draw on you to!"
"Deal"
Then you doodle on his hand for a bit before he does the same to you, both of your hands littered with little doodles of whatever
◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇
Ben
Your both in the graveyard like usual as everyone's just trying to catch up on sleep or talking about what happened that night
You were just fidgeting with your own hands as ben is sitting next to you with his headphones in and his eyes closed
You eventually just grab his hand and gently fidget with his fingers witch makes him open his eyes and look at you confused which you pay no mind to as you continue fidgeting with his fingers
He watches you for a moment before closing his eyes again letting you fidget with his fingers and maybe later he'd give you his notebook to draw or something
◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇
Tyler
Your in the graveyard (shocker I know lol) everyone's just talking and making a plan for what to do the next night in the phantom dimension
Your kinda paying attention as you draw tiny doodles on your hand tylers sitting next to you arguing about some part of the plan I'm sure
Eventually your hand is to coverd in doodles to draw any more so you just grab tylers hand which makes him look over at you confused
"What are you doing?"
"Doodling"
"On my hand?"
"Yep"
He looks annoyed but doesn't push you away or try to stop you as he just goes back to the plan that was being discussed and you just draw random doodles on his hand
(He secretly loves them and keeps them on his hand for the rest of the day)
◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇
Taylor
(Very very short sorry)
You'd be in the graveyard (again) just talking about last night in the phantom dimension your just fidgeting with your own hands as you pay attention to the conversation slightly
Taylors sitting next to you whe you gently grab her hand and start fidgeting with her fingers
She wouldn't mind at all and just fidget with your hand as well with a bright smile and even let you doodle on her hand afterwards
◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇
Logen
You guys would be in the phantom dimension discussing something, logen is sitting next to you as he pays attention to the conversation you on the other hand are doodling on your hand still slightly paying attention though
Logen notices your doodling but dosent say anything cuz he knows you fidget a lot for no apparent reason
Hes pretty focused on the conversation when you gently grab his hand making him look over at you
"What are you doing?"
"Can I draw on you?"
"I-uh sure"
nods blushing slightly as you start to make small doodles on his hand for the rest of the conversation by the time its over his hand was coverd in small doodles
◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇
Hope this turned out how you expected it!! And thanks for the request again!!

The Timelines in 4 Minutes
Since the Olympics are finally over, and I have three episodes of 4 Minutes to go on, I thought I would spend some time trying to figure out the timelines.
I'm someone who figures out what I want to say by writing it out, so this post will most likely be me "thinking out loud" and drawing conclusions as I go, and then, at the end, I'll have a clearer view of the timelines (hopefully).
(This is most likely going to be one long-ass post, so beware.)
Let's start with some initial notes before I dive into the fun stuff.
The contents of this post may be influenced by some of my theories (pre-premiere theories, episode 1, episode 2, episode 3), and I might come up with new ones as I write this post (they will be highlighted in purple so possible readers of this mammoth post can choose to ignore them if they want, lol), but my focus is primarily on the timelines themselves and, perhaps, on the passing of time throughout the episodes as well.
As I start this post, I believe there are 3 timelines (which are subject to change as I continue to write):
The present timeline, which is what starts off both the 1st and the 2nd episodes (these are events from the future from our current vantage point).
The 4-minute timeline, which is where Great changes things (I've previously called this the OOBE timeline, since I believe Great is having an out-of-body experience and is "reliving" his past).
Then there's a possible third timeline (I've previously thought it might've been the real past, which showed us events that actually happened in the past paralleled with the 4-minute timeline) but I'm most unsure about this one, so I'll just call it the 3rd timeline until my thoughts are more clear about it.
Now... Where the hell do I start?
Time
It might be a good idea to start with the clues that there are different timelines at play and then dive deeper into the episodes to figure out what's happening.
Besides the obvious clues that Great is sent back in time when he has his moments of the 4-minute phenomenon (4MP), there are other clues that different timelines are at play.
The first clue shows up in the Korn and Tonkla scene from the 1st episode and all the way through to the scene where Korn drops Great off at his place after their family dinner.
This is where I'll be crazy about the details (but I'm a hundred percent sure they matter, especially since this whole show is about time), but if we look at Korn's watch when he arrives at Tonkla's place, it says 7:15-ish pm.
Later, when Tonkla wants a second round, it says 8:55 pm.
Then they get interrupted because Korn's dad wants him home for dinner. They have their family dinner, and then, when Korn drops Great off at his condo after dinner, Korn's watch says 7:15-ish while the clock on Great's phone says 07:13.
(Great already has issues with time, which I believe is the effect of him having a cardiac arrest at 11:00 in the present, but the time anomaly in this particular sequence is different than Great seeing 11:00 and counting when he's alone.)
This whole sequence is meant to be the same day Great hit Manee with his car. All of them (even the dad and Great's mom) are wearing the same clothes they wore when introduced throughout that very same day. Yet, the times on the visible watches and clocks tell us something strange is going on.
(Could this just be me overanalyzing the watches and clocks? Sure. But the interesting thing is that the time is still consistent in the sequence with Korn and Tonkla. It would make sense that they talk, then fuck, and then lie there butt ass naked and cuddling for a total of 1 h 40 min. And, again, considering this show is about time, I trust that the creators have been meticulous about those details, even if it means changing the time on the watches and clocks for every new take if needed.)
Considering what I wrote above, I might start calling the 3rd timeline Tonkla's timeline, because I feel like it revolves around him.
Either way, I will focus on the 4-minute timeline and the third one in particular because I don't see a possible 4th one right now (I might by the end of this post, though, lol).
The question is, then, how we can determine which scenes belong to which timelines. I will get to that further below, because first...
Let’s look at some more details I’ve noticed.
Blurry Edges
One of those details is the dreamy, blurry edges (I'm sure there's a technical term for this, but I have no idea what that might be, I'm just guessing that they're adding it in post-production, but don't quote me on that). Much of the show has a dreamy feel overall, but I'm talking about the blurry edges in particular.
I've noticed blurry edges in the following scenes:
When Great feels iffy in the elevator (ep 1)
I'm pretty sure there's some of it happening in the scene when Tyme is treating Manee, both in the ER and in the OR during the surgery (ep 1)
At the family dinner when Great's mom tells him he should go see Manee at the hospital (ep 1)
When Great feels iffy at the hospital before his second 4MP (ep 1)
When Great is sitting in Title's car talking about where View is (ep 2)
I'm not sure about this one since it's hard to tell because it's dark, but it might be used in the scene where Title beats the shit out of Dome (ep 2)
When Great brings Dome into the hospital (ep 2)
When Korn is having a meeting with Fasai and her dad (ep 2)
When Great feels iffy and has his fourth 4MP at the basketball court (ep 3)
When Win reads through Tonkla's brother's social media posts and comments, which is a memory of him doing it (ep 3)
And I'm pretty sure we're getting more of this since there were scenes in the trailer that had those blurry edges as well, for example:
The pattern I'm seeing with these scenes (if we exclude the first scene in the elevator, Korn's meeting with Fasai, and Win's memories, the latter might've had blurry edges just because it was his memory, btw) is that each scene has something to do with Great's 4MP, before the rewind and/or after the rewind.
(Perhaps the reason for the blurry edges showing up in Korn's scene is because he's the possible third character that's having an OOBE. And if this theory is true, there's a possibility that there's yet another timeline/reality/perspective present that entwines with both Tonkla's and Great's timelines.)
There are also the tilting camera shots (mostly showing up in scenes with Great), which I might get into next week as I continue to build on this post.
But, what does all this with the blurry edges mean?
I have no fucking clue.
Perhaps it's just meant to show that things aren't what they seem. Perhaps it's meant to show which characters are experiencing OOBEs (Great, Tyme, and possibly Korn)? Perhaps it's meant to show moments that are affected by Great changing them through his 4MP? Again, I have no fucking clue, yet (but it might start to get clearer as we get more episodes).
So, moving on...
Different Realities/Parallel Worlds/POVs?
There is another aspect to this whole timelines discussion I'm having with myself that I want to bring up. And that's the clues I've found that support the possibility of different realities/parallel worlds/different point-of-views. I'm not sure what to call them, yet.
So, let's dive into the moments I'm referring to and try and figure it out.
The second time Great experiences his 4MP, he goes to the ER's front desk and we're shown the nurse's actual desk where there's a clock that we're supposed to focus on because it's telling us that time will do weird shit again.
The moment Great has been sent back in time (after being in Manee's room), he's standing in the same position, looking down at the clock on the desk, and realizes it's happened again (just like when he hit Manee). However, this time, the things on the desk are different.
The time on the clock is the same, but the mirror is in a different position, 75 has turned to 74 (I'm not sure what these numbers mean), 77F has turned to 76F (which I'm guessing are Fahrenheit degrees), and the pink, blue, and yellow papers are lying on top of the folder the second time around.
If Great was sent back in time to the exact moment he was in before he went to Manee's room, the things on the desk would've been in the same place, right? So, he might not even have been sent back to the reality he was in before this 4MP happened.
Another clue is the sunrise and the sunset artworks on the wall at the hospital. We often see them by the entryway:
Then, in the 2nd episode, it looks like at least the right one is hanging outside Manee's room (which we've seen isn't anywhere near the front desk since Great had to walk around a bend to get to her room in the first episode).
Could they have more than one of those artworks in the hospital? Sure. So, take this with a grain of salt.
(Btw, I find those artworks so fascinating because sunrises are usually cooler (more blueish) while sunsets are usually warmer (more red/orangeish). But from our perspective, looking at them straight on, the warmer artwork has the sun setting in the west while the cooler artwork has the sun rising in the east. And, since the eye in left-to-right reading cultures often automatically goes from left to right, it's interesting that the sunset comes first and then the sunrise. Perhaps it's to show that the world is turned upside down now that Great is having these weird experiences. Or perhaps it's to show that the time between the sunset and sunrise will be important for Great and Tyme since Great watches Tyme pass those artworks (from sunset to sunrise) the first time he has visions of them having sex. But, I digress...)
Another set of clues is in the scene with Great and Tyme sitting on the bleachers by the basketball court and Great has another 4MP in the third episode.
The first time we see this wide shot, there are 5 people (excluding Great and Tyme):
4 of them are wearing white shirts (one with a darker cardigan), and they sit on Great's side. One wears a blue shirt and sits on Tyme's side. This is where Great asks Tyme why he didn't call before coming to the University.
As they continue to talk (and the camera shot is closer to them), you can see the top of the head of a girl walking towards the bleachers. There's also another person walking by, waving, but he's walking right past them rather than towards the bleachers.
Then, as Great thanks Tyme for the Thai tea and gets up to leave, we get this wide shot. The only difference here is that the girl who walked towards the bleachers is now sitting next to her friend. That seems logical, right?
But, then Great has his rewind, and he comes back to the moment where Tyme reminds Great to get his wound treated. Great tells Tyme about his precognition and Tyme tells Great that he will consult with one of his doctor friends. Then, as Tyme stands up to leave, we get this wide shot:
The two girls at the bottom left are in the same position but the girls two steps above and to the far left are different, the boy and the girl next to them are new, and the boy with the white shirt to the right is the same boy that sat on Great's side previously.
Coincidence?
Well... After Tyme tells Great that he can call him Tyme rather than Doctor, and Great says that they should grab something to eat after he gets his wound treated, we get this shot:
Now we're back to the original two girls to the left, there are new boys wearing black on the bottom left, and the boy in blue is back again. That's a lot of moving around in such a short time.
The only things that stay consistent in all of the shots are the bags (except for one of them) and bottles.
So, what's going on? Is this another one of those things that happened at the hospital where Great was sent back to a reality where things were different from the reality he was in before the 4MP?
Is the show giving us different perspectives? For example, Great's perspective before his 4MP, Tyme's perspective when he says he'll talk to Den, and Great's perspective again when Tyme has left? That could work for the hospital example as well since it was from Great’s perspective before the 4MP but turned into Tyme’s after the 4MP as he asked the nurse at the front desk who the guy that bumped into him was.
Or is the show just underlining how strange everything is during the 4-minute timeline (and Great's possible OOBE)?
Well, the latter might not be it because clues like this don't just show up when Great is around.
In the first episode when Korn comes to Tonkla's place, Tonkla's laptop shows he has something blue and yellow on his screen:
Then the screen is black as if it's been turned off:
Later, when it cuts to them lying naked on the sofa, it's just white:
Also, notice how the small spotlight behind the desk is positioned differently and pointing in another direction on the desk than in the first image above.
Could it be that Tonkla simply used the laptop and moved the lamp between them having sex and lying there? Sure. Again, if we look at Korn's watch from the beginning of this whole sequence (7:15-ish pm) to when Tonkla wants a second round (8:55 pm), we know he had 1 h 40 min to rearrange things and do stuff on that laptop.
But, you know, unless the house is on fire, who would move from that spot on top their sugar daddy who is lying there deliciously naked? And especially to do some stuff on a laptop? Fuck technology (the not-so-good kind of fuck) and fuck your sugar daddy instead (the deliciously bad kind of fuck). We all know Tonkla wants to. But, I digress...
Take this detail with a grain of salt if you want to (or a whole fistful). For me, though, this shows that there's a possibility that changes and inconsistencies like this aren't just happening around Great. And (to my crazy mind, at least), that it might be two timelines showing up throughout this particular sequence between Korn and Tonkla.
24 Hour vs AM/PM Clock Settings
And on the topic of inconsistencies... Another thing I want to point out is the inconsistencies with the digital clocks when it comes to them being 24-hour clocks or set to the am/pm thing.
The hospital seems to have a 24-hour setting in some cases:
But not in others:
This could be in the morning, of course, and the darkness outside Manee's window might just be because of the thunder/lightning storm (but I still think it's night rather than morning).
And then we also have Great (who, to be fair, has a special relationship to time in this show), who sees 11:00/11:02 both in the morning and at night:
And the am/pm thing is on his phone when Korn drops him off:
Even though his phone seems to have the 24-hour setting:
More than once:
But, again, Great clearly has issues with time and clocks/watches. So, this might just be a way to show how confusing it is to him.
But, what if it isn't? What if it's an indication that several realities are entwining? (Okay, I feel like I'm going with the term "realities" when it comes to this.)
My Timelines So Far
So, what are my conclusions after watching the first 3 episodes?
At this point, I think there are 3 timelines:
The present timeline.
The 4-minute timeline.
The real past/Tonkla's timeline (which is meant to show us the real past events that happened, most of it from Tonkla's perspective).
Having Tonkla's timeline be the real past is possible considering the inconsistencies in time during the Korn and Tonkla scene and then the Korn and Great scene in the 1st episode.
And before someone says this doesn't make sense because of all the missed calls Korn has (if anyone is still reading this, lol)... Well, that's because Korn exists in both timelines and the scene when he looks at the missed calls in that bathroom in the 3rd episode:
Could be the 4-minute timeline rather than Tonkla's timeline (the real past). That could make sense because all we've seen of Tonkla since Korn told him off over the phone is him waiting by his phone for Korn to call.
We never saw Tonkla call Korn again after being told off.
On the flip side, if Korn is in the real past when he looks at those missed calls in episode 3, it would make sense that when he wants to call Tonkla while he's waiting for Great at the bar (in the 4-minute timeline), the icons on the top right of his phone are different from the phone he looked at in the bathroom:
(Am I getting too crazy about this? Yes. Do I care? No, because it's fun.)
Could he be using different phones? Yes. Could those icons change depending on where he is and what settings he's using? Sure (I'm not familiar with Samsung phones so I have no idea what most of those icons mean). But it could also mean that we're seeing Korn in different timelines in these two scenes, which makes it possible for Tonkla's timeline to show us the real past.
(I personally prefer the option that the scene with Korn looking at the missed calls is from Tonkla's timeline (the real past) while Korn almost calling Tonkla in the bar, and then smiling at his phone as he's going to the bathroom, is from the 4-minute timeline where Tonkla's brother (who I believe is Dome) hasn't been killed.)
Also, I think showing us the real past is a smart way to show us what leads up to Tonkla beating the shit out of someone.
(I believe that scene is from the real timeline, and whoever he's beating with that rock, might have an effect on the things that are happening right now. I'm not sure what kind of effect, though. Perhaps it's a possible third person experiencing an OOBE and "living" in the 4-minute timeline. Perhaps Great is going through this OOBE to prevent that murder from happening after he wakes up (if he ever does). I'm not sure at this point.)
So, that's where I'm at with the timelines after 3 episodes.
And, when it comes to the inconsistencies in certain scenes, the easy answer is that they are just meant to show that this whole 4-minute timeline is an inconsistent mess of (what I believe to be) Great's OOBE.
But, I would personally find it more interesting if these inconsistencies (like all the people around Great and Tyme changing in that scene at the basketball court) are evidence that there is more than one character experiencing an OOBE and that the inconsistencies shown are there because the characters have different perspectives of the events happening.
Now, I had planned to make a flowchart of the scenes in each episode divided into the three different timelines I've written about above. But, I want to get this post out before the 4th episode drops tomorrow, and I just don't have time to make the flowchart before that (or enough images left in this post to fit something like a flowchart in it before I hit the pesky limit). So I'll wait with that chart until next week instead (when I'll continue to build on this post in a reblog).
Waiting to create and post the flowchart until after the new episode tomorrow also gives me another episode to nerd out about. It's a win-win for me.

Reality Show (Obey Me!)
━━━━━━━━━━ ✦ ━━━━━━━━━━
Diavolo convinces Lucifer to have him & his brothers do a new demon reality show that revolves around their everyday lives.
»Characters: Demon Bros // ->[Click here for Part 2: Dateables]
»Tags: LUCIFER CAUGHT IN 4K, Shitpost/Humor, Mentions of reader/MC, Husbando Beel Supremacy, Bulleted Style
»Notes: CM = Crew Member ;; Sorry I was gonna upload this sooner but wanted to draw art for it. xD
Lucifer:
"Okay that's enough, go somewhere else."
CM: "We can't, you agreed to this under contract"
sighs
Mildly regretted his loyalty to Diavolo, otherwise he would've never done this
His camera crew was always on edge with him
The show stressed him more than usual
Perhaps there were a few embarrassing moments he would prefer not to talk about
Like pushing a door that said pull, forgetting the word spoon and calling it a tiny bowl on a stick
[Camera peeks through Lucifer's study, recording a smiling Lucifer texting on his phone]
CM: "Who were you texting Lucifer? Was it ___? There's been rumors..."
"I was checking the weather."
CM: "You take selfies for the weather?"
Mammon:
"Hey wait stop recordin' this! Not that what we are doin' is illegal!"
His camera crew had a rough time with him
But it made for good television!
He talked shit about Lucifer the most
"Yeah a lotta people dunno this, but Lucifer cries to me all the time! What can I say, I'm a reliable guy!"[Crew zooms in on an unamused Lucifer in the background]
[Cut to Mammon hanging from the ceiling]
"Can someone get me down from here!? HEY! WHERE ARE YOU GUYS GOIN'!?"
A lot of the crew's clips had shaky movement from running due to multiple mammon situations
They got a great swoon-worthy shot of Mammon gazing lovingly at you
CM: "Maybe you should confess?"
"I'm confessin' to nothin'! Talk to my lawyer!"
CM: "That's not what we- Nevermind."
Levi:
"I already stream online so this isn't any different."
lol
Levi didn't realize they'd be watching his every move
How was he suppose to worship his shrine of Ruri and you in front of them!?
His camera crew couldn't stop cringing around the otaku
it was uncomfortable for everyone
[Camera films secret sweet moment of him awkwardly practicing asking if you want to hang out]
He asked for it to be deleted, it was denied
However his ratings shot up after that clip and the next one:
CM: "Do you have a crush on ___?"
"W-what!? N-no!!! (Incoherent Levi noises and he trips)"
That clip became a viral meme for weeks
I'm talking remixes and everything
In the end his camera crew actually did have a lot of fun with him and they game online together now
Satan:
"Watch your step. Oh, don't touch that!"
His camera crew had a difficult time with him
He managed to avoid them frequently so he wasn't overly present in the show, much to the annoyance of Lucifer and the others
If they did catch him, all the clips looked the same, all he did was read
They did manage to catch him feeding some stray devildom kitties
[Camera zooms in on him in his room with a collared cat on his lap]
CM: "I thought you couldn't have pets?"
"It's not mine. Clearly, I can't control what comes in my room as of late."
CM: "It has a collar?"
"Next question."
CM: "What can you tell us about the Anti-Lucifer League?"
"I don't know what you're talking about. Next question."
CM: "Okay... viewers want to know what's up with you and ___?"
[Satan opens a book and gets sucked in]
Asmo:
"It's like, Devilgram Live, but longer!"
Most unbothered out of everyone
He did get annoyed when they tried to catch him before he could start his morning beauty routine
He was scary, they caught it on camera...it was the only time the crew deleted a clip on a brothers request
Overall his crew had an easy time, it was standard to what they normally do, Asmo himself was fun
He was a natural, of course everyone loved him, who wouldn't?
Was the one to start drama for the sake of tv
Nothing too crazy just messed with Luci's schedule, got Mammon arrested, hid Levi's Ruri body pillow, little things really!
[Camera catches Asmo cuddling next to you]
CM: "You seem very fond of them!"
"I am! Oh maybe we can do like a one year WEDDING special later on!?"
Beel:
"Just don't get in my way I guess."
He wasn't really on board with the idea but not much he could do
His crew had an average time with him, he was easy and chill to film
They caught him doing a lot of activities like, cooking/baking, sports, gaming, it was surprising to viewers
His work out clips got a lot of views too, he was a busy demon
They filmed him helping around the house, even cleaning your room and leaving you little gift snacks
CM: "Wow, snacks? You must really like ___!"
"Yeah. I love them. I want to give them the world."He confidently admitted, smiling brightly
Had high ratings in the polls, the show gave everyone a new perspective of him who wasn't just a gluttonous beast
Belphie:
CM: "Is he breathing?"
"Zzz..."
The crew had an easy but boring time with him
There's only so many hours of a sleeping Belphie you can record
The were some soft serene moments with him,Beel and you, gazing at the stars
[Camera catches him sleeping, smiling and mumbling something about you]
CM (poking): "Belphie wanna share what you were dreaming about? We heard you call their name. "
"Only if the network agrees to air it unfiltered. It will be very descriptive."
CM:
CM: "That's a wrap guys."

I love your art and comics so much!!! You are like the queen of HL comics for me!!! ❤️❤️❤️ So much so you've been inspiring me to start making my own comics (it has been since high school since I made comics and let's not get into how long ago that was 😂).
I was wondering if you would be willing to share some of your comic making process, especially in the early stages? I had much of a process in pre-planning stages, but now I'm trying it to see if it will help with my storytelling.
I hope you have a great day!! ❤️❤️
Thank you! 😭 that’s so cool you’re making comics again! And bashful by your ask as I do it for lols and still figuring it out myself. I refer a LOT to a couple of my favourite comic artists too, which I think is noticeably incorporated in mine but I’ll try and show my workings best as I can
Think it’s already obvious I love drawing expressions, is usually my first starting point doodling idly what would become the key frames
Of course study your favourite artists! The ones I look to is Akira Himekawa - Zelda Twilight series and Adam Warren - Empowered (not for under 18s)
I dragged out some previous comic pages I think are appropriate examples of the initial paper scribbles, rough lines to final.
venomous valour is an example of messing up as I focused too much on the faces and the speech gets cluttered.
Crucio attempting to draw the eye where it needs the main focus.
A couple of pages from Shadow Mountain, the fight was drafted more to keep a consistent line of action and not let it get disoriented on the geography, personally I try and stick to the 180 rule. The arc here was more a happy accident but helps lead movement across the page
Dialogue I like the least, but this page the speech bubbles lead the page layout so it’s read in the correct order reading from left to right
Generally I try not get too fussy about the details and aim overall for readability:
- Clear silhouettes, in figures, framing and composition. I often check rough pages within drafts on my tiny phone screen, does the focus get drawn where it should
- Is there enough information on what is happening or about to happen, like an anticipation in a pose to lead into the next panel
-Show intentions without having to say it, ask myself if no dialogue is the intent still there? Using your lovely Serena and the Fifth-Year as an example
It shows when I get lazy and draw my panels like a film frame and I use principles more rooted in animation so I make blunders or newbie mistakes when translating into a comic format but it’s all in good fun. Anyway I hope this helps you in your process and look forward to seeing more of your comics too! 💕
Extra: the ineligible scrawls of the shadow mountain and ancient magic drafts

Current Plans + Musings
I don't plan on playing Exedra to the degree I did for Magia Record, or playing it at all. Because of that, I won't be taking an active role in the community and archiving anything for it. Of course, if Exedra has like amazing gameplay and stories then this is all subject to change, but for now I think I'm done with phone games.
The two youtube channels will stay up and I'll check em periodically to make sure there aren't copyright strikes against the content. I've saved all my raw files, especially for the battle animations, so I can remake them in the future if the music ever becomes a problem for some reason.
Google Drive will stay up until Google rots away. I haven't recorded footage in a long time (as in stories, I do for the character doppels and such), but I'll upload things if they're sent to me.
Magia Union Translations still plans on translating things and making videos, especially leading up to the end, but also for after the game is over for whatever wasn't made in time. I'm not sure what form this will take in the future-- if it'll be manual captions added to the videos or not, but I know it WILL happen.
As for this blog, I'm not going to delete it or anything. However I'm going to be taking a step back. I'd like to say that I'll do liveblogs but I mean... *gestures at blog* I've been saying that for years and the only one I really did successfully was the Oriko one lmao. Ahhh oh well.
I'll have more words later, but it was really fun to be part of a fandom experience like this. I'm excited to work on my own original story projects though and quiet down a bit.
...
When I started this blog, I never expected it to have people actually read it. Or look at it. I just wanted a place to gush about how much fun I was having. I didn't even want to tag the posts with "Magia Record" at first because I was terrified people would be mean at me, haha.
But I'm glad I did. I made so many good friends through this game. I'm glad it existed. And it made me happy to have a place where people cared about what I had to say. Some folks actually got their news from here, can you imagine that? They had notifications turned on for this blog. My god.
Anyways, I'm going to be here for the next two months, and tomorrow I'll start reblogging fan projects and initiatives, plus general news. Maybe this blog will turn into a dumping site for art and fanfic reblogs, who knows. I might watch the remaining stuff and add various thoughts here and there.
Otherwise, you can find me on my main blog @malignmuffin, which only reblogs stuff (I don't talk much if at all there). I have another tumblr blog for my comic, but I think I'll reshare the name once I actually have content you can look at on it. It's pretty bare bones for the moment.
Actually it'll be funny if the end of this game is what makes me finally work on it again. I was in the process of working on it when NA came out, and it totally derailed me. Stopped writing, drawing, just focused on this silly little phone game. Now it's like those five years have gone by and I'm going back to where I started, except I think my lil comic is going to be a bit better than it was before. If I actually make it, that is.
If I ever do actually make my comic and start posting it, I'll be sure to update y'all here. hah
Anyways, thanks for being on this wild ride with me. The memories have been great, and I'm glad I had this experience, even if it had to end.

Hello, I'm indecisive so you can pick any character you want for this but how about you're selected MK1 characters with a combat medic reader?
Okay so based on google, a combat medic provides emergency medical treatment. I kinda made reader a healer just to add some magical fun but it’s basically the same thing, right? Just with magic. Idk if by “with a combat medic reader” you mean dating or how they’d interact, so I made the headcanons to basically follow their relationship! Also I picked Johnny because if I ever say “I hate white men” never am I ever talking about him.
So we all agree that Johnny is definitely the type to flirt with nurses, right?
Dude flirts with anyone that breathes. I doubt a medic is where he draws the line
I imagine that you meet while he’s training at the academy
You’ve been under Liu Kang’s wing for awhile now. You’re a great fighter but more importantly you’re his most trusted healer
Johnny more than likely gets injured tryna show off. He sees you glancing at him, then he tries to do some extra shit and oh! Look at that! He’s injured!
He’s like “damn. That’s embarrassing”
Now some may think that Johnny would be even more embarrassed when he realizes you’re his medic
I disagree
This mf is unbelievably delusional
“Me getting injured means that we were meant to be”
Johnny have you considered… thinking clearly?
He’s flirting the entire time you’re healing him, which is something that takes awhile since you have to be precise
“I’d feel a lot better if I had your phone number” “You do realize we stay at the same academy, right?”
From then on, Johnny is a pain in your neck
Are we as a class agreeing that he complains about the most minor of injuries just to see you?
There’s someone with a caved in lung in the hospital wing and he walks in like “I have a cut on my hand :(“
“Just use a bandaid” “What if it’s infected?” “It’s not. It’s a fucking paper cut”
I do think however, that it’s mainly just jokingly flirting. He’s just a tease. That’s how it would start out at least. Like when he was flirting with Kitana
He wants to see you because he gets away from training, because you have a nice aura, you’re hot and he likes messing with you
Overtime though, his flirting would become more serious. He’s actually starting to develop feelings for you, but you wouldn’t know the difference
He’d probably see you a lot more often since he’s under Liu Kang and doing shit for him
I can see him asking you to teach him how to handle certain injuries without magic, but he has no intentions of actually treating himself
When you eventually start dating, he only gets worse
Because now in his mind you REALLY have no choice but to deal with his bullshit. There’s no scaring you away now
”I have an injury” “I’m not helping you with a stubbed toe. Just go sit down”
And the flirting? It reaches an all time high
The corniest shit comes out of his mouth. I can’t even think of any off the top of my head
I just honestly think that this would be a fun relationship
Johnny isn’t completely stupid. He knows that you have to know a lot about the human body to know that you have to heal this bone, do this with this vein, whatever whatever
Behind his jokes and flirting, there’s true admiration there
You’re a smart person and he likes that
You get a lifelong partner and he gets his booboos looked at
Seems like a fair trade to me

So, I don’t think I’m dying, or anything, and it’s probably not that serious, but... I’m kinda bleeding. A lot.
Lol this one's a bit of a mess, but these prompts are great because they make me write things outside of what I would usually do! Have a fun little post-war domestic Clegan for your Wednesday night :) Thanks for the ask anon! I hope you enjoy it.
Prompt: "So I don't think I'm dying, or anything, and it's probably not that serious, but... I'm kinda bleeding. A lot."
Word count: 892
After dismissing his undergraduate class for the day, Gale begins the ritual of packing his materials into his worn leather bag when his doctoral supervisor pokes his head into the classroom.
“Gale, there’s a phone call for you in the main office. Seems urgent.”
A jolt of anxiety shoots through Gale. No one ever calls him at the school. Hastily, he crams the remaining papers into his bag, for once not caring if they crease. He hurries to the office where the secretary nods towards the phone, prompting him to pick it up.
“Hello?”
“Hey, Buck,” John’s voice comes through the receiver, steady yet tinged with a slight urgency that spikes Gale’s panic. His hand grips the phone tighter, knuckles turning white.
“What’s wrong?” Gale cuts straight to the point.
“So, I don’t think I’m dying, or anything, and it’s probably not that serious, but... I’m kinda bleeding. A lot,” John says.
“What?” Gale’s voice rises in anxiety, drawing a concerned glance from the secretary. He winces, trying to soften his volume when he speaks again. “Bucky, what the hell happened?”
“Cut my hand by accident. Tried to stop the bleeding but it won’t quit. I think I might need stitches, and I would drive myself but you’ve got the truck,” John explains, sounding impossibly calm.
Gale’s racing heart steadies slightly, reassured that John isn’t actively dying, but the thought of him alone at home with a profusely bleeding hand still unsettles him.
“Jesus, okay. I’m leaving right now. Just… keep putting pressure on it and don’t bleed out before I get there,” Gale says, running an anxious hand through his hair.
“Don’t count on it,” John teases lightly.
“Not funny, Bucky,” Gale huffs. “See you soon.”
Replacing the receiver, Gale stumbles out a hurried explanation for his abrupt departure, then practically sprints from the building to the parking lot. He drives well above the speed limit, exhaling in relief when he finally pulls into their driveway and sees John sitting on the porch. He’s got a rag wrapped around his left hand that looks far too blood-soaked for Gale’s liking.
Once the truck stops, John stands and makes his way to the passenger seat, greeting Gale cheerfully despite the circumstances. Gale’s glad John’s so calm, a stark contrast to his own internal worry. Of course, they’ve both seen worse injuries during their time together, but Gale thought they had left such emergencies behind with the end of their service.
“You doing okay?” Gale asks, reaching over John to secure his seatbelt for him, considering his hands are a bit full at the moment. As soon as it’s done, he throws the truck in reverse, backing out of the driveway to head for the hospital.
“I’m fine, Buck. It’s barely a scratch,” John reassures him with his usual bravado.
“Right. A scratch that had you calling me at work to come drive you to get stitches. No big deal,” Gale retorts, rolling his eyes.
“I’m sorry,” John says quietly, sounding slightly chastened.
“Hey, no. I’m glad you called,” Gale hurries to reassure him. “Just scared me, is all. Never gotten an ‘urgent’ phone call to the main office before.”
At the hospital, John receives eight stitches across his palm. Gale stays by his side throughout, John gripping his arm tightly during the more painful moments. As he works, the doctor questions the nature of the accident, and John reveals that he accidently cut himself while handling a knife. Then, he wraps John’s hand and assures him he’ll be right as rain in a couple of weeks.
Driving them back home, Gale can’t help but ask, “So, what exactly happened? I thought you knew your way around a knife without almost chopping your hand off.”
John looks sheepish, fidgeting in his seat. “I uh, tried cooking us dinner.”
Gale arches an eyebrow. When they had moved in together, it quickly became evident that John’s culinary skills were severely lacking. After a series of less-than-successful attempts, they had mutually agreed that cooking would be Gale’s domain.
“Okay,” Gale says slowly, confused.
“Did you realize it’s been a year since we’ve been home? Since we moved in together?” John asks suddenly, his tone softer.
Gale’s heart warms, the pieces beginning to fall into place in his mind. John’s next words confirm his suspicions.
“I just wanted to do something special for you, especially since you had to work all day. I’m just sorry it ended with you driving me to the hospital,” John sighs, his voice tinged with regret.
Gale smiles warmly at him. “Well, you know what they say. It’s the thought that counts, right?”
John huffs out a laugh, leaning his head back against the headrest, shaking it in amusement at the entire situation. “I guess so.”
“Anyway,” Gale continues playfully, extending his arm over the console to rest a warm hand on John’s thigh. “I can think of plenty of other ways you can make it up to me once we get home.”
The implication catches John’s attention immediately, prompting him to sit up straight in his seat. He raises an eyebrow at Gale. “Oh, is that so?” he replies, his tone teasing in return.
Gale simply keeps his eyes on the road, a mischievous smirk playing on his lips.
“Hey, Buck?” John says suddenly, causing Gale to glance over at him curiously.
"Yeah, Bucky?"
“Drive faster.”

The AndreaBandrea UTY post
I need some place to put my Undertale Yellow (UTY for short) thoughts & criticism, and this is my blog, so I might as well put them here. If you don't want to see constructive criticism about Undertale Yellow, don't click below the readmore!
Pretty much everyone I talk to really likes this game, and honestly, I'm really sad that I don't like it more. I like some parts of it quite a bit! But I have mixed feelings about other parts-- I think the writing and characterization could have been a little more impactful than they were, and I’ll be discussing that here. I don’t want to just rag on this game without expressing suggestions and parts that I do like in more detail, so those will be covered as well.
I also want to add a disclaimer that I don't have negative feelings towards the development team or fans of this game in the slightest. I have nothing but respect for the creators of Undertale Yellow. This project was obviously a massive undertaking with a lot of love behind it, and I'm glad to see that it's found success and a community of people who do enjoy it.
The reason I’m writing this post is that, again, I liked parts of this game and wish I enjoyed it more. If I didn’t like it at all, I just wouldn’t engage with it at all anymore. I also haven’t really seen any other people expressing constructive criticism on the game’s writing, so it’s felt more important for me to express these thoughts, be heard, and see if others feel the same way.
The Good
I'll start off with the things I like. The art, the animation, and the music are all fantastic. I was very impressed by the battle backgrounds and the little touches, like the way Clover runs. Clover doing things like reaching for other’s hands, giving fistbumps, drawing their weapon, changing their expression at times-- they feel very dynamic and fun to play as.
The music is really catchy and fun. I love the iterations on the battle theme-- Snowdin’s battle theme having bells, for example.
I also had fun with most of the fights in the game! I liked the unique mechanics that came into play (e.g. the lasso in North Star's battle). I think that changing the way Clover attacks compared to Frisk feels organic and fun.
I also love the mail system. Ever since you could deliver and receive letters in Paper Mario 64, I’ve been hooked on mail as a storytelling system in video games. I think the letters you receive are interesting and clever, and it’s a great way to keep past characters relevant in lieu of a cell phone.
I’m going to be discussing criticism of the characters later, so I’m going to take a moment to talk a little about things I liked about them. I really like Martlet’s optimism and belief in humans. Starlo made me laugh quite a few times and the Feisty Five have a great dynamic with each other. A lot of the background characters in the game are fun-- I like the one who serves you at the Honeydew Resort. The fact that you can go back to these vendors later on and get four new topics to talk about is fantastic and makes the world feel a lot more alive.
The Slightly Less-Good (and more disclaimers)
The writing is where the game falls short for me-- and it’s sad for me, because the writing is the heart of Undertale. I don’t think that the writing is bad by any means! I like the characters and story well enough, but- again- I just wish that I liked them more. I’ll try to incorporate suggestions so this isn’t just a total downer post without anything backing it up.
I want to express something about the ‘suggestions’ that I’ll be offering after the criticism. I know that Undertale Yellow is now out, and the team isn’t going to go back and change it now, and that’s totally fine. I don’t want to make it sound as if the team should change Undertale Yellow just because I have some reservations about it. I’m just one fan out of many. In the very off chance that a member of the Undertale Yellow development team is reading this--
First of all, hi!
Second of all, I know that changing major parts of Undertale Yellow at this point is very unrealistic, and I wouldn’t want you to. If anything, I’m honored you’re reading my ramblings at all. I’d be touched if you’d be willing to take some of my words to heart as you move onto your next creative projects.
The reason I’m including suggestions, therefore, isn’t because I think that the team should or must make these changes, but because I don’t want to just sound excessively negative about this game without offering a little feedback.
I don’t presume that my criticism and suggestions are objectively correct or better than what the Undertale Yellow team created. This is my personal blog, and these are my personal rambly thoughts about Undertale Yellow. The reason I’m including so many disclaimers is because I’ve gotten into discourse before due to poorly thought-out posts about Undertale, and I hope to avoid that this time. I don’t want to just not post something on my own blog, though, because I’m afraid it could be misconstrued or possibly upset somebody. So, I’m trying to discuss this as carefully as I can.
As one final disclaimer, I'll say that I know that it was more likely than not that I'd be at least a little disappointed by Undertale Yellow. The original Undertale was a very important game for me, and very little could reach that standard. (I think this is one reason why Toby decided to do Deltarune, a sort of AU/spinoff rather than a full-on "Undertale 2", and I respect that decision.)
I also think that quite a bit of my criticism is subjective-- several of the characters didn't fully click with me and several of the jokes just didn't land for me, personally. More people than you might think just didn’t connect with the regular Undertale, either. I’ll be talking a little about my subjective opinion on characters, but I’ll try to explain why I feel the way I do rather than just say, “XYZ character sucks because they’re lame, moving on.”
With that said, the post. I’ll be addressing my criticisms from smallest to largest. To begin, I’ll recap the plot of UTY to better analyze aspects that I do and don’t quite like. Spoilers abound.
Undertale Yellow Plot Recap!!!!
The central story of UTY, to my memory and understanding, is as follows:
In the past, a fallen human being went on a rampage in Snowdin and hurt Kanako, the daughter of Chujin, a former royal scientist and monster who happens to be a boss monster. Dalv, an unrelated monster, was also hurt in this incident and sealed himself away in the Ruins in a self-imposed isolation. Chujin’s family (presumably him or Kanako, but not Ceroba, as she doesn’t recognize Dalv) felt bad about this and left him corn from Starlo’s farm as a gift. But, when Chujin died, the corn gifts stopped coming.
Stepping back a bit, after the incident, Chujin developed a deep hatred for humanity. He invented a security robot called Axis and told it to go kill the human. Axis did this (and we will return to this later). Chujin kept the soul (at least, for a time) to experiment on.
At some point in this, Axis failed to impress Asgore and Chujin was fired as the royal scientist. At some point as well, he began to teach Martlet how to build puzzles. Martlet got a job in the royal guard and Chujin disapproved because humans are very dangerous.
Due to experimenting on his own boss monster soul in an attempt to find a way to turn regular monsters into boss monsters so that monsterkind could potentially stand up to the threat of humanity, Chujin wound up very ill and then passed away. He left video tapes to his wife, Ceroba, asking her to finish his research. However, he asked her to leave Kanako out of this so she could live a normal life.
Ceroba agreed to finish this research, but Kanako found out about it and asked to be experimented on because she, like her father, has the power of a boss monster. Ceroba agreed to experiment on her, which injured Kanako and caused her to ‘fall down’. Ceroba sent the near-death Kanako to Dr. Alphys, the new royal scientist, who was collecting ‘fallen down’ monsters for her own experiments with determination.
Plot summary over. I’ll take a closer look at some of these aspects going forward.
UTY Plot Criticism
I don’t feel like this is a bad story, necessarily. With that said, it doesn’t feel quite as tied together as Undertale’s story does, and I think certain aspects don’t land.
First, I feel that the majority of the plot elements about Chujin & Kanako get dumped on you at the last minute. You might be thinking that the story about Chara & Asriel is also dumped on you at the last minute-- and to an extent, this is true. You do get a massive amount of information regarding their story near the end of the game, in the True Lab.
However, Chara & Asriel's story is a massive part of the narrative from the very beginning. You meet 'Asriel' (Flowey) in the very beginning of the game. Toriel is in the Ruins due to the fallout of Chara & Asriel's deaths. Asgore and the monsters are trying to kill Frisk and steal their soul because of this, and the royal guard has taken it up as their mission. Sans is aware of an anomaly that will end everything (implied to be the player), and he would have 'killed Frisk where they stand' had he not made a promise to Toriel. And so on.
I’ll be reviewing criticism of the game’s plot in sections themed around each major character. I will be discussing suggestions about each character in their respective section here, as I discuss things I didn’t quite like about each character, my suggestions are intrinsically tied to why I didn’t quite like them.
Dalv
The connections between characters and the Chujin & Kanako plot feel a bit tenuous to me. Similarly to Toriel, Dalv is in a self-imposed isolation in the Ruins due to a major incident in his past. He fears humans due to the attack he suffered in Snowdin, and he suffers loneliness after losing his friend (who left him corn). When he sees Clover, he wonders if this is “some sort of haunting” (implying he knows that the human who attacked him was killed).
In the pacifist route, Clover can prove to Dalv that not all humans are evil and Dalv can move out and learn how to trust people again. This becomes a recurring theme-- Clover, pure of heart, proving to monsters that humanity isn’t that bad after all.
However, Dalv then disappears from the story. His motivation is to basically be left alone, but once you prove to him that humanity isn’t so bad, his role in the story is essentially complete.
I feel that, by comparison, Toriel’s motivation is more active-- to protect humans who fall down from Asgore. It’s this motivation that drives her to return at the end of the true pacifist route and ultimately make the true ending of Undertale possible.
Dalv’s passiveness makes him a weaker character to me. Now that you’ve proven that you’re his friend and humanity isn’t so bad, I would have liked to have seen him take an active motivation to protect his friend or help them in some way. We don’t have to copy Undertale beat for beat and have him dramatically save Clover from Asgore or anything, but it would have been nice to see him vouch for Clover in some way at some point.
Now, for the final time, I know that UTY is released and major changes aren’t likely. Some of my suggestions are “I would have liked to see this, but this change would require redoing the entire game,” which I don’t think should or could be done at this stage. This is just daydreaming and- if I’m praising myself highly- potential considerations for the devs’ future works (and the works of any other creatives who are reading this).
With this proposed major change to Dalv’s character out of the way, I’ll suggest instead the most minimal possible change that I would like to see, so my suggestions don’t feel entirely like just daydreaming.
I really like how Dalv sends Clover a letter about his moving out to Snowdin. This is active of him in terms of motivation-- Clover is his friend and he wants to keep in touch with his friend. I’d be absolutely thrilled to see a little bit of extra dialogue for him in an update. After you go back to Snowdin and see him, I think the dialogue he already has is totally fine! But, I’d be really happy if he’d take initiative and tell Clover a little more about his experience with the past human, or invite them to rely on him, too.
Martlet
Martlet felt… a bit restrained in terms of her writing, to me. I think that one aspect of Undertale’s writing is that it’s not afraid to go over the top. Papyrus isn’t just silly, he wears a costume every day and cartoon eyes pop out of his head when he’s surprised. Undyne isn’t just determined, she aspires to be a badass anime heroine. I like Martlet just fine, but she never had a moment where she really stood out to me in this way.
Martlet’s defining traits are that she likes puzzles, she loves reading and abiding by the rules of the royal guard, and she believes in humanity and wants to help Clover. As I said before, I really like this optimism and belief. I’d like to see more of it.
Near the end of the true pacifist route, Martlet says that she was taught in the royal guard that humans are scary, but Clover proved to her that humans are kind. This felt very abrupt to me at the time-- we know that Chujin disapproved of her joining the royal guard due to his own trauma, but Martlet had no personal involvement in the last human’s violent actions.
Martlet doesn’t seem to have any reason to dislike humans more than any other monster. We learn in her diary that she essentially joined the royal guard out of a desire to help people and build puzzles, and also because she needed a job.
If she’s just supposed to be a representative of the average monster and their feelings toward humanity, and her growing to like Clover is meant to represent how all of monsterkind could grow to like humankind, that would be one thing-- but I think that she specifically is meant to represent a person who wholeheartedly believes that humans can be good and that humans and monsters can live in harmony. In the no mercy route, she repeatedly pleads to Clover to do better, that they don’t have to act this way, that she wants to help them. That’s not the response of the average monster, who fights Clover or tries to flee from them.
I believe the intention is that Chujin & Martlet represent either end of an ideology axis (no pun intended). Chujin believes all humans are evil no matter what, but Martlet believes that humans can choose to be good. But why does she choose to believe in humans other than a sense of personal optimism?
I would have liked to have seen some defining event that made Martlet choose to believe in the goodness of humanity. I would have liked to have her being kind and optimistic to a fault be more of a defining trait-- to have that go over the top in an Undertale-style way. A lot of her interactions with other characters just personally weren’t very memorable to me.
Martlet spends a lot of the game sidelined. She loses you in the Mines. She gets thrown in jail in the Wild East. She has to go back to Snowdin once you're freed. Yes, she's there for you in the true pacifist route, but she's otherwise pretty absent through the neutral/true pacifist routes.
I recognize that the main characters in Undertale can be absent after you leave their respective sections of the game. However, you're able to call Papyrus & Undyne as much as you want, and you get a major hang-out (or “date”) with each of them and Alphys which gives time to expand on their backstory and character arc. Martlet doesn't get that. We even get a little bit of time to hang out with Dalv after we become his friend, but Martlet shoves us on a boat and hurries us to the next area as soon as we beat her. And sure, we get to talk to her on the boat, but it’s just a bit of silly dialogue-- it doesn’t really expand on her character. It feels like a missed opportunity.
So, yes, my major suggestion on her would be to zoom in more on her belief in you and let her be a liiiiitle sillier and more over the top, and give more opportunity for Clover to hang out with her.
At this stage, however? In this proposed minor ‘dialogue update’, I’d be really excited to see a little something more from her. Maybe a letter? She does send you one, but only in the neutral route to tell you to meet her on top of the apartments. It would be a good opportunity to either let her be silly or explain a bit about when she came to want to believe in humans-- or both, ideally.
Starlo
I honestly have very little to say on Starlo. He seems to be the fan favorite, and I did find his section fun! Ultimately, though, he's just kind of… there? I mean, he's on the periphery of Ceroba's (and Chujin and Kanako’s) story because he's her childhood friend (and his family grew the corn that Chujin gives to Dalv), and yes, he later on reminds her that she can still choose to be a better person because he also almost killed Clover! However, every monster in the game almost killed Clover.
There’s nothing wrong with having a silly character who wears a costume and isn’t a major player in the plot. I feel like Starlo is similar to Papyrus in this way. But Papyrus isn’t just a goofball, he’s the monster in Undertale who believes unerringly in Frisk & the player’s ability to do better because he firmly believes that you can make anything happen if you just try. This belief helps elevate Papyrus from comic relief to an actual rounded character.
I don’t feel like Starlo has any sort of strong conviction like that. We do learn that he wants to bring hope to the Underground by roleplaying as a sheriff in the Wild East town, giving them a slice of (supposed) surface life. I think this is fine, but I’d like to see a bit more of it. In the no mercy route, he does bravely stand against you because he’s a sheriff and it’s his job to bring justice to murderers like Clover.
My expectation when I first met him, a fellow cowboy (gender-neutral), was that he’d have his own ideas about justice. I expected that he would clash with Clover about these ideals, and neither of them would be quite right or wrong-- and this would prove that justice can’t be measured mathematically, and one outcome can’t be applied to all situations.
But, he’s not at all bad the way he is. He has a lot of fans, after all. The minor change I’d suggest now that the game is out is that I’d be interested in learning why the cowboy aesthetic specifically appealed to him. Maybe a diary in his room explaining that Westerns are the epitome of ‘justice’ to him? I’d like to see a peek into the motivation that transformed an ordinary farm boy into someone who could bravely stand against a murderous human.
Ceroba
I’ll be honest. I want to like Ceroba, but I don’t.
I understand that there's an attempt to mirror Asgore in that the war against humanity, in general, has taken Ceroba's partner and her child from her-- and ultimately, Clover forgives her and helps her learn how to move on. It's about letting go, just like Undertale. I get that. But Ceroba’s story doesn't land for me, personally. In order to talk about Ceroba, I need to talk about her husband, Chujin, because Ceroba spends so much of the story acting out Chujin's will.
Whereas monsters in Undertale do attempt to kill Frisk and steal their soul, and Asgore has killed other children before, it's framed in a very 'video game' violence sort of way (again, Undertale has these meta elements). Ultimately, in the True Pacifist route, none of Frisk's deaths have stuck, and Asgore's actions- while reprehensible- allowed for Asriel to break the barrier once and for all.
Chujin, in the video tapes he leaves for Ceroba, implies that Axis’s murder of the human- presumably a child, like Clover and Frisk- was very violent and bloody. It feels a tiny step beyond the 'video game violence' aspect, for me. While it’s shown that Chujin regrets this, it still doesn’t change the way that this violence is expressed in the game.
Instead of giving the human’s soul right to Asgore to bring monsterkind closer to freedom, Chujin- who has already been fired by Asgore, I should add- chooses to keep the soul and experiment with it.
This is very selfish, even though he has good intentions. He’s told nobody else about his experiments with his soul at this point- not even his wife- and Asgore has told him to cease all activities as the royal scientist.
While monsters do want Frisk's soul for their own selfish reasons, they notably do not butcher them violently, succeed in this, and still try to get painted with the same quirky and fun brush that the other characters get.
After Chujin dies, he leaves detailed instructions for his wife to continue his work-- and although he says "don't involve Kanako", he leaves her all the tools she would need to experiment on Kanako, and notably, no other way to finish his work except to experiment on Kanako.
As I said, Kanako finds out about this and asks to be experimented on. And while she does give consent, she is a child. I cannot stress this enough-- she is a child who just lost her father and is still wracked by grief. Kanako is a child who cannot possibly know what she is consenting to.
Ceroba chooses to experiment on Kanako and more or less kills her. And then she chooses to send her 'fallen down' daughter to Alphys's experiment, despite the fact that Kanako presumably has some sort of trace of human soul/determination left in her-- which could have compromised Alphys's work as well.
Let's return to how I said that Ceroba is a mirror for Asgore. She's made so many mistakes and it's cost her her family and she can't stop now or it will all be for nothing. She's done horrible things, just like Asgore.
But the difference is that Asgore is the king of monsterkind. Asgore has no desire to kill human beings. He declared war on humanity in a fit of anger and grief, but the Underground had lost hope due to the loss of Chara & Asriel. Believing that Asgore could gather seven human souls and free them all brought hope back to the Underground.
His actions, while wrong, are selfless-- and much less explicitly violent and more 'cartoon violence'-like. Chujin & Ceroba have the well-being of monsterkind as their own pure intentions, but their actions are far more selfish and violent. Axis, Chujin’s creation, massacred a human being. Yet we're still expected to find them silly and fun and relatable-- it just feels unusual.
I’m not someone who hates nuance or morally gray characters. One reason I’m so sad that I don’t quite like Ceroba is that I love morally gray women. It’s just that we’re not allowed to really dislike Chujin or Ceroba for what they’ve done, and instead we’re supposed to see Ceroba- and Axis- as silly and relatable like the rest of the characters.
Immediately after Ceroba’s boss battle, instead of processing what just happened to a greater extent, Clover chooses to sacrifice their soul for monsterkind.
I understand that the intention is that Ceroba's grief and Chujin's desperation to protect monsters from humanity contributed to Clover's decision to sacrifice their soul. However, the idea is- to me- abrupt. Ultimately, too, Clover's decision is just as much about how much they love their friends (and how it's impossible for them to hide out in the Underground forever) as it is about Ceroba and her family.
Chara & Asriel’s deaths, Asgore’s war on humanity, the war of humans and monsters-- these elements impact every part of Frisk’s journey. But Chujin and Ceroba’s actions, while impactful on Martlet and Dalv to varying extents, are only part of Clover’s journey. And Chujin and Ceroba did awful things for this comparatively minor impact on the plot.
EDIT: Further analysis about how Ceroba doesn't have a lot of agency and spends a lot of the plot just acting out Chujin's will, as well as the inconsistency in her characterization (and feelings about sacrificing Clover and the well-being of Kanako), with input from @carlyraejepsans. Thank you!
I would have liked to have seen a bit more from Ceroba without any influence from Chujin- maybe an interaction explaining her relationship with Martlet and an additional conversation about Martlet’s nearly unwavering belief in humans vs Ceroba’s inherited grudge against humanity- but I don’t know where this would fit in. Adding more time for Clover to process Ceroba’s boss fight before sacrificing their soul might throw off the pacing.
In general, though, Ceroba's boss fight- while flashy and fun- ultimately feels pointless with how little she learns from it and how quickly she changes her stance on using Clover's soul for the benefit of monsterkind, and what will happen to monsters after they break the barrier. To quote @carlyraejepsans in the ask linked above:
In addition, it's like the writing didn't want to commit to her delusions and little character development. She feels that her daughter is alive and thinks she can save her—wait no that was a lie—wait it wasn't. The moment she's defeated she goes "Agh, what was I thinking!" out loud (which is already a questionable writing choice imo but i digress), and recognizes that sacrificing Clover for her plans is horrible... and then 5 seconds later Clover chooses to sacrifice themself to break the barrier and whoops nevermind she's suddenly the one getting the others onboard with the idea... wait. didn't she say she was making the serum because the humans would've only slaughtered them again if they broke the barrier? oh wait wasn't that also chujin again? whoops.
I would have felt better if there were more room to view Chujin and Ceroba in a critical light (and time to view Ceroba outside of just being a mom and wife). I can’t think of any ‘minor’ suggestion that wouldn’t require a lot of editing.
Axis…
And... okay. Let's talk about Axis real quick.
I want to give the dev team the benefit of the doubt, but I need to point out that this security robot's name is "Axis 014." If you don't know what I mean by pointing this out, I'll just say that both of these terms are nazi dog whistles and allow you to look up the specifics.
I recognize that, by this point, it’s too late to change his name. I’d at least be grateful if the team would acknowledge this and confirm that they aren’t nazis.
Axis’s name makes his actions far worse in retrospect. He, as a security robot wants to kill a child, but he isn't able to anymore because his programming has changed. So, as a legal loophole, he forces them to hold 'a weapon' (a trash can lid) so he can justifiably kill them. This is the same robot that brutalized and murdered a human being in the past at Chujin's behest.
It feels tone deaf and ultimately the one thing I’d just outright call bad about UTY. I don’t think it was intentionally done this way, but I don't like that we're supposed to find this nazi-aesthetic police brutality robot "quirky and relatable" like the Undertale cast. In the true pacifist ending, he falls in love with a robot made out of a trash can and his eyes turn into cartoon hearts and etc. It’s even more jarring than viewing Chujin & Ceroba in a fun/relatable way.
In the no mercy route, Axis will defend himself and claim that his programming forced him to kill the human and he didn't want to. This "just following orders" defense feels weak to me as well, personally. Axis clearly delights in harming humans, going out of his way to try to kill Clover. But also, Axis spends a significant amount of the game displaying a very similar amount of free will to the other characters. He’s not just a janitor robot that sweeps back and forth.
He’s a nearly sentient being-- and the fact that there are these nearly sentient robots makes Alphys’s accomplishment of creating “a robot with a soul” (at least, so she claims-- Mettaton is only the ghost in a machine) much less impactful to me, personally. Yes, Asgore thinks that Chujin failed in creating a sentient robot, and so it’s impressive that Alphys supposedly did it. But I don’t know why Asgore wouldn’t be more skeptical of Alphys’s accomplishment after Chujin failed more than eight times and set fire to his flowers.
I think that Axis is ultimately a missed opportunity to make a really villainous character. This concept that he disobeys his programming- used as sort of a parallel for law, as a security robot- to attack Clover could have been explored to further the ‘justice’ theme. He doesn’t write his programming (the laws), he just carries it out (violently enforces the laws).
The ‘minor’ suggestion I’d make, though, is to just acknowledge the name.
Undertale & Meta Elements
Now, we’ll be addressing my largest criticisms-- the omission of meta elements and the way Flowey is written.
Undertale Yellow never quite stopped feeling like a fan game to me. And it is, of course-- but I think that it feels as if it tries so hard to be Undertale (in the writing style, the humor, etc) that it fails to forge an identity of its own, and that holds it back from being just a fangame to a fangame that succeeds in expanding on the original creative work.
At the same time, although UTY tries to feel like Undertale, I don’t think it captures certain elements that make Undertale be Undertale.
Whereas Undertale was ultimately about video games as a medium and the normalization of violence in them, UTY doesn’t have this level of metatextual commentary. UTY does have a running theme of 'justice'-- and I don’t think this is bad! After all, if Undertale already said all there was to say about video games and violence, why retread that path? I respect that UTY knows its limits and simply focuses on justice as a concept instead.
At the same time, Undertale isn’t just an RPG about mercy-- it’s an RPG about RPGs. The fact that you can talk to and spare enemies isn’t just a quirk of the game, it’s what the game is about. This is one thing that makes Undertale great that UTY doesn’t focus on.
UTY doesn’t completely ignore these elements, of course. Flowey takes over resetting for you, and you do have three distinct paths based on whether or not you kill enemies-- the ‘true pacifist’ path, the ‘neutral’ path, and the ‘no mercy’ path (I will not be calling it the ‘genocide’ route, especially in light of recent world events). Through whether or not you choose to kill enemies, the theme of ‘justice’ is explored-- who is Clover seeking justice for? In the true pacifist route, Clover seeks justice for the monsters, while in the no mercy route, Clover seeks justice for the fallen humans before them.
However, Flowey taking over the mechanics of saving and resetting for you makes concept of ‘the player’ obsolete. I recognize that not everyone in the Undertale/Deltarune fandom quite enjoys the concept of 'the player' and the meta elements of these games due to the fact that there can be implications that playing Deltarune (as an example, which ups the meta elements quite a bit) can actively hurt Kris and make their world a worse place. However, Deltarune isn’t a complete work and we don’t know this for certain. Additionally, I feel as if at least acknowledging Toby's intentions are important to analyzing the work, no matter what one's personal feelings are about them.
The Importance of the Player
The presence of you, the player, is important in Undertale. Frisk is a subversion of the 'blank slate protagonist' trope. You think that you're able to name them and control them, but in the True Pacifist route, Frisk begins to act on their own (they walk slowly in some parts of the True Lab because they're presumably afraid, etc). In the end, you realize that Frisk is their own person with their own name, and you as the player have to let go-- when Frisk & the monsters go to the surface, Flowey (a mirror of the player themselves) urges you to let them go. Don't treat this as a game anymore-- don't replay and wring out any last drops of content you can. You enjoyed it, now move on.
But many players want to see the No Mercy route because it’s the last thing they haven’t done in the game, and they don’t want to let go. And that's where the role of you, the player, becomes undeniable in the game's story. What is the No Mercy route except playing a 'typical' RPG in the way it's meant to be played? You grind to become stronger, killing every enemy that stands in your way. And when you've killed all the monsters and become as strong as you can be, you've won.
Many players didn't do this because they hate the characters in Undertale and want to hurt them-- if they hate them, they likely just wouldn't play the game. Many players did it because they like the characters in Undertale, and wanted to see what would happen. They couldn't stop playing. And this is exactly what Sans means in his dialogue during his boss battle-- to paraphrase, "you think that because you can, that means you have to."
This is one of the ways that Flowey is a mirror of the player. Flowey didn't start killing out of malicious intent, but because he had become so bored and isolated that he just "had to see what happens".
Chara's role at the very end of the No Mercy route is to call you out directly for this. They tell you that their power was yours. Their words were very misconstrued by fans for a long time, and they themselves wound up as a scapegoat for the No Mercy route-- but ultimately, there's no reason for Chara or Frisk to kill every monster in the Underground. The only reason is because of you, personally. You want to see what would happen. You want to grind and play it like a typical RPG.
They call you out for this if you don't want to delete the game world at the end. Why go back to that world that you've already destroyed? Why play nice with the monsters that you just massacred because you can?
Why am I talking about this at such length? Because I believe that ‘the player’ and how they interact with the world of Undertale is important. Characters lampshade the UI and battle mechanics often-- Flowey talking about the world as a game and ‘saving’ and ‘loading’, Papyrus telling you to “press C to open the dating HUD”, Sans explaining ‘LV’ and ‘EXP’, and so on.
This is my personal opinion, and I recognize this is very nitpicky, but I feel that not acknowledging this or adding to these meta elements in some way makes UTY weaker for me.
Flowey’s Role in UTY
Flowey essentially saves and resets for you because he's bored, and he wants to use Clover as a tool to access Asgore’s five stored human souls. His role as a mirror for the player becomes him essentially just acting as a stand-in for the player. While this in itself can invite self-reflection, I think that the execution of his role is a little awkward.
We learn at the end of the neutral route that Flowey has already reset the timeline hundreds of times by the time we first start playing the game. According to him, Clover always ends up at a dead end (they choose to stay in the Underground for the rest of their life) or they die (and they can’t reset of their own power). Thus, Flowey chose to set Clover on an alternate path by sabotaging a lever in the Ruins, which made them fall into the Dark Ruins and meet Dalv.
Flowey then tries to kill Clover and absorb their soul because they, again, hit a dead end. Yet he gives up on it after a while because Clover won’t stop fighting back, and he thinks he can just reset and try again anyway.
At the end of the true pacifist route, Clover instead opts to sacrifice their soul willingly to Asgore & monsterkind. Flowey comments that he could just reset (and you still can, if you want to play again), but Clover “earned their rest” and he calls them a friend.
This progression from “Clover is a tool that Flowey is using to access the 5 human souls” to “Clover is a friend and Flowey willingly lets them die and stay dead” feels undeserved and underdeveloped to me.
"But, Andrea," you might say, "Flowey went from trying to kill Frisk as Omega/Photoshop Flowey to hugging Frisk as Asriel really quickly too!"
Yes, but in that short time, Frisk and Flowey/Asriel had a Whole Thing where Frisk 'saved' him like everyone else and he learned he needs to let go, too. It was a short time, but it was a poignant time. By contrast, Flowey is pretty much absent throughout most of UTY's true pacifist route. Sure, you could easily say that he just got bored of Clover and gave up-- but that, too, doesn’t feel quite right to me.
I really hate to say this, but I feel that Flowey’s writing in UTY cheapens the original Undertale for me, which is why this is one of my major criticisms of the game.
Flowey's entire character arc in Undertale is about how he was stuck with the same places and same people for an endless amount of resets. In my opinion, the limited amount of places and characters for him to interact with in Undertale only adds to how trapped he is (and the Underground being so small really strengthens the concept of "there's overpopulation and the monsters are running out of time to find a solution/earn their freedom" that we see in the game, but I digress).
So when something finally changes and he meets Frisk, it's deeply impactful to him. Finally, someone new to play with! Finally, potential for change! Even though Flowey admits that, even if Chara came back, there's a great chance that he couldn't really love them due to his lack of soul, just experiencing something new for the first time in ages is as close to love as he can possibly get. So Flowey:
Starts to believe that Frisk is Chara, this person he ‘loves’ or wants to love, or some manifestation of Chara.
Refuses to let Frisk go, even if that means- when Asriel has the power of seven human souls- just resetting the Undertale timeline over and over instead of going to the surface or doing anything else.
For Flowey to have gone through everything that he does in UTY- all these new places, all these new people, Clover included- weakens this, in my opinion. And sure, there's very heavily implied to be lots of places that Frisk doesn't explore and people they don't meet-- 99% of New Home and its residents, for instance. But Clover themselves is the real problem for me.
No matter how many times Flowey reset with Clover, I really struggle to believe that he would get bored of a human being that easily. He even said that Clover's actions and choices would sometimes change from reset to reset, and he only recently learned how dramatically he could alter their path by sabotaging that lever in the Ruins. Clover isn't a static being-- and even if they were, they're at least a new static being.
And although we learn in the neutral route that Flowey can't really absorb Clover's soul because they fight back too much, I can't believe that would stop Flowey so easily. What about at the end of the pacifist route, where Clover has given it up willingly and it's being transported in a little jar? Clover’s body is separated from the soul, now-- could Clover still fight back?
Or, what about if Flowey tried to kill them as soon as they entered the Ruins? Or, what if Flowey played nice the entire route and then at the end tried to convince Clover that if they sacrificed their soul, he would take it to Asgore for them? With access to full control of the timeline, I don't think Flowey would give up on this. We learn in Undertale how painful it is for him to be soulless and how desperate he is to access power so that things will change.
For Flowey to acknowledge Clover as a 'friend'- maybe even a true person, not just a compilation of dialogue- suggests character growth. It suggests remorse for his resets that he isn't capable of having and doesn't have until the events of Undertale. I just don't feel like it’s earned.
Flowey is, of course, an unreliable narrator.
At the end of the no mercy route of UTY, Flowey expresses that he never saw Clover as a friend-- he only enjoyed watching them die over and over again. It should be noted that this was said while under extreme duress (Clover is LV 20 by this point and has killed everyone save for Asgore), and this route isn’t canon in the way that the neutral and pacifist routes are.
With that said, if we agree that Flowey can’t feel love as a soulless being, then I could argue that this is about as much of a ‘friend’ as anyone could be. This is how he wanted to keep Frisk (“Chara”, in his mind) for eternity when he had the six human souls + the entirety of monsterkinds’ souls-- just watch them try over and over again, for eternity.
Why am I contradicting myself? Because, let’s suppose that Flowey doesn’t mean Clover is a ‘friend’ in the traditional sense- that they earned his respect and he cares for them in some way- but Clover is a new toy that he got bored with and gave up on. I feel like this, too, makes Undertale a little weaker.
If Flowey did have some type of positive regard for Clover, but was willing to let them go, then it feels- to me- like Frisk’s role in his story isn’t that significant. Frisk helped him learn how to let go and move on, but Flowey has already demonstrated being capable of this. The circumstances are different- if Flowey gives up at the end of Undertale’s true pacifist route, it’s over for real, whereas if he gives up at the end of UTY, he can just wait for another human to fall- but I feel like the core feeling is the same. Flowey, by the start of Undertale, doesn’t strike me as someone who’s capable of letting go.
So, how would I have changed this?
I recognize that- again- Undertale already made these points about video games and violence, and Flowey has his entire character arc in that game. For Flowey to have more of an arc in this game would potentially make this game no longer line up with canon Undertale or weaken Undertale further. And why retread old ground that Undertale already talked about?
I respect the decision to tell a self-contained story, but the meta commentary about video games in Undertale is so significant for me that I personally would have liked to see a bit more of it in Undertale Yellow. I also recognize how much of my criticism of Flowey’s writing in UTY is subjective. It feels unrealistic for me, his arc feels abrupt for me, it makes Undertale less poignant for me.
A lot of people love his inclusion in this game, and it’s very novel to see Flowey as a friend throughout most of UTY and hear his snarky commentary on demand rather than having him as an enemy who’s absent through most of the game, as he is in Undertale.
The Flowey Suggestions
First, I’ll be honest. I know this is not and has never been possible, but my easiest solution to the dilemma of Flowey’s lack of a character arc- and the lack of an ability to give him a character arc- would have been to just remove him from UTY.
I think that Flowey’s inclusion in the story of the yellow soul human and his role saving and loading could have been interesting. It goes against certain story elements implied in Undertale, and popular fan theories-- and I don’t mind that, if something meaningful is done with it. But, I feel as if Flowey’s relationship to Clover isn’t impactful enough to justify including him.
To clarify on ‘implied story elements’ and ‘popular fan theories’:
While I might be misremembering, I thought that it was implied in Undertale that Flowey came into being after Asgore had already collected six human souls, and that a significant amount of time had passed since the last human had fallen down.
I won’t go into it at length because this post is long enough and I, again, am not an Undertale expert. With that said, it’s also implied that all human souls are capable of saving/loading/resetting in the Underground. If you make Frisk tell Asgore that he killed them before, he just nods as if he’s used to it-- and he’s the one character who we know has killed humans before.
Now, how did Asgore successfully kill beings that can just reset the game whenever they die? Well, Sans faces the same dilemma in Undertale’s no mercy route. There’s no way that he can permanently defeat you, the player, who is a real being. Therefore, the way he ‘wins’ is by infuriating you enough with his difficult boss fight until you give up and stop playing Undertale (or, at least, reset and make better choices).
Think about all the times you’ve played a game, got stuck on a hard boss, and never played it again. While it’s not ‘canon’ to the story- giving up on your copy of Mario doesn’t mean Bowser really wins- functionally, giving up on a game means that the story ends for you. This is how I believe Asgore captured the six human souls, even if they were also capable of resetting like Frisk is-- he fought them until they gave up.
Humans all are said to have great amounts of ‘determination’, not just red soul bearers. We don’t even know what trait the red soul exemplifies. Whatever it is, I don’t think it’s determination itself.
The bottom line is that I don’t think it would be unrealistic for Clover to be able to save/load/reset on their own, or for Flowey to not exist yet during the time they fell down.
But, I get it, Flowey was in UTY’s demo that has been out for seven years. He’s in the trailers. He couldn’t be removed at any part of development, and he sure as hell can’t be removed now.
My second suggestion would have been to zoom in on him, instead. While the prequel is about Clover, the yellow soul human, I would have liked to see it be about Flowey in a significant way. I kept hoping for Clover to have an opportunity to ask Flowey at some point, “why are you helping me, anyway?”.
This is my personal interpretation, but I’ve come to believe that Flowey thinks that the reason he’s stuck as a flower is that it’s a punishment. Because he, as Asriel, refused to fight back, he failed Chara, and now they’re dead. Now he’s stuck as a rinky-dink flower with no soul, he can’t love his former family, and he can’t stop playing this game.
In the no mercy route of Undertale, Flowey feels very much like he’s trying to appeal to Frisk- the person he believes is Chara- in a way like a younger sibling trying to impress an older sibling. He says he’s impressed by how you killed everyone. He helps solves puzzles so you won’t have to slow down. He brags to you about how he’s also a heartless killer.
Notably, he talks about his past. He tells ‘Chara’ that he was afraid to start killing, at first. He said he wouldn’t enjoy it, but he just had to know what would happen.
Then, Flowey laughs and says that you (Chara) know how liberating it is to be this way-- to kill people and shape their fates. He ‘recognizes’ Frisk as being actually Chara because of how they killed everyone in the Ruins.
But we have no indication that Chara was a violent or evil person in their life. I believe that Flowey is partially projecting and partially recognizes Chara because, in the last moments of their life, they were telling him to kill. He always knew that Chara hated humanity and wanted power to better the position of monsterkind. This is why Flowey brags about how he has a plan to get the human souls, and once they do so, they can go to the surface and “finish what [they] started.”
To Flowey, in my opinion, killing people isn’t just about seeing what happens. It’s about trying to understand and appease Chara and doing what he thinks he should have done all that time ago, as Asriel.
I bring this up because I think that I would have liked to have seen this be explored in Undertale Yellow. Flowey is still a very misunderstood character today due to being an unreliable narrator. I believe that a lot of Flowey misinterpretations are due to taking him at face value-- hearing him say that he’s an unfeeling, manipulative, patient killer and agreeing with him.
But Flowey contradicts himself at several points. He gives up his “catch these friendliness pellets” trick after you dodging just a few times. These aren’t the makings of a perfect manipulative killer, but an impatient child. That’s who Flowey is at his core-- a child.
I recognize that, again, if Flowey told all of his tragic backstory to Clover and they became true friends, this wouldn’t fit with canon Undertale and his actions in that game. Flowey and Asriel distance themselves from each other, and it wouldn’t make sense for Flowey to tell this to Clover-- especially if he just views them as a tool to use and play with.
I think, however, it wouldn’t have been impossible for Clover to have learned this information about Flowey in a way that could still be canon compliant with Undertale itself. Hypothetically, maybe the “hopes and dreams” statue in the UG Apartments near the Core could have sparked intrigue in Flowey.
Maybe analysis of Flowey could have come up during his neutral route boss fight-- after all, Clover appears to peek into the minds of Ceroba and Martlet during the true pacifist and no mercy run boss fights, respectively. We already get a little of this- Clover has to run through a hallway of flowers in Flowey’s boss fight, and we hear sad and scared dialogue that’s presumably from a past version of Flowey himself. However, it’s not necessarily new and doesn’t quite add to Flowey’s character in my personal opinion.
I feel that including Flowey’s story more in some way would justify having Flowey in the game, and knowing the history of Asriel & Chara could factor into Clover’s decision to give up their soul for the sake of monsterkind. Chara, too, sacrificed themselves willingly, after all.
I don’t have a ‘realistic suggestion’ that could be implemented with a dialogue update because these suggestions are so vast-- and, ultimately, very personal and subjective. I have very strong feelings about Flowey.
Meta Elements of Undertale
In Undertale, you’re asked when you should or shouldn’t fight. As a pacifist, you can get through the Ruins without killing anyone. Flowey will then ask you what you would do if you met a relentless killer. Would you betray your morals and fight? Or would you give up and let yourself die?
Undertale is the friendly RPG where nobody has to die. While you have to kill Asgore at least once to do the neutral route, and you do have to fight back against Omega/Photoshop Flowey to end his battle, the game ultimately posits that there never is a good time to fight. You don’t beat Omega Flowey by being stronger than him, you do it by appealing to the souls and allowing them to rebel. You don’t beat God of Hyperdeath Asriel Dreemurr by beating him up, you do it by saving your friends- him included. The game, again, is about an inversion of the necessity of violence in video games to me.
I would have been interested in seeing an exploration of when it is necessary to fight, and this could be done through the lens of ‘justice’. Would Clover fight if it brought them closer to justice (on a pacifist route)? Is it morally correct to kill one person if it saves thousands?
Sparing someone is always the correct option in Undertale. In that way, the true route is quite linear-- there’s one solution that works for everyone. What if there were situations in UTY in which there is no single correct option that works for everyone? What if Clover were placed in situations in which they had to act as arbiter and decide between two outcomes and what is right? It could have been like how they get forced to solve the trolley problem in the Wild East, but with consequences.
Adding to putting a ‘twist’ on the elements that Undertale introduces with its combat system-- what if sparing someone ultimately enabled them to keep hurting others? What if fighting to weaken someone was the correct solution for once? These inversions could have built on the meta elements of Undertale, and I think that it would make Clover’s decision to sacrifice themselves to bring justice to monsterkind more poignant to me.
Again, I have no ‘realistic’ suggestion for this in the full release of UTY. I think that the plot about justice alone isn’t bad, but I would have been happy to see it tie into the gameplay a little more.
Conclusion
Ultimately, I think that UTY tries too hard to be Undertale without iterating on the aspects that made Undertale memorable. The characters feel like they fail to pop or relate to the game’s story in meaningful ways, and to me, the main story isn’t executed as well as it could have been (and far darker than the main Undertale in ways that don’t feel as if they’re handled sensitively).
I will say, again, that this project is very impressive in scope, and I applaud the dev team for finishing it and releasing it. I recognize that a lot of my distaste is subjective, and creating another Undertale is a fool's errand considering the acclaim that Undertale got. I recognize one final time that my suggestions are just daydreaming, and this game has already found a lot of success-- which I think it deserves.
I tend to criticize a lot of media I like, which might sound contradictory to some, but it makes perfect sense to me. If I don’t like something, I won’t engage with it. I think that the original Undertale has its flaws, too. At the end of the day, I like UTY, but no media is perfect. This is how I think it could have been better, and I hope that I think other creatives who want to make Undertale fanworks (or any creative works, for that matter) will take these thoughts into consideration.
Thanks for reading.

bf!lyney headcannons!
you've been in class for a while now and your boyfriend texts you saying that he's "bored" ... what shall you do to help him?
bf!lyney x m!reader
author's note: i knew this would win the poll. anyway, have fun reading this cuz it was fun to make<3 (btw this might be a start to some spiciness which might make me less embarrassed to make smut in the future)
"now that class is over, let me have my fun... "
-it's like the middle of the lecture and both of you are clearly bored
-he's spent the last 10mins trying to get you to look at him using some type of telekinesis (which of course didn't work cuz you were too focused on biting your pencil)
-and you've been scribbling in your notebook(you've been sketching lyney<3)
-suddenly, he decides to text you
-"hey, mon amour, what's up??? :))"
-and you can just feel his gaze on you as you see the notification
-"nothing really, i'm just bored and yeahhh just drawing smthn"
-"what are you drawing??? is it meee?????"
-you practically just know that he's seen your sketch by now. it's not like you two sit that far away
-"maybe" you reply to his text, turning off your phone, thinking he he'll stop texting you
-but then, you get more notifications. a lot. you turn off your sound for notifications and open your messages with lyney.
-oh boy, he surely was clingy.
-not that you had a problem with it
-the messages went like this:
-"yeah well i'm boreddd"
-"should we do something??"
-"mon cœur???"
-"hello???"
-"bonjour?"
-"did i do something?????"
-"[name] i'm boredd"
-"oh dear boyfrienddd"
-"i wanna kiss you so bad rn"
-you finally calm down your blushing face and reply to him
-"bro we're in class"
-"idc let's talk over text<33"
-he's so persistent but you can't help but put a little smile on your face
-"fine" you replied to him
-"yayyy" you looked at him and he was smiling like an idiot at you
-you roll your eyes and text him again
-"anything specific you wanna talk abt?"
-"hmm yeah but how long until it rings"
-"idk like 10mins. possibly 5."
-"great then!"
-"why"
-"i have my plans ;)"
-that was the line. you blushed and hid your face, but you made it look like you were "focusing on the lecture"
-he smiled at your reaction and texted you again
-"c'mon the teacher said 2 more mins"
-you just look at him and nod, as a sign of a "yes" and also a sign for him to stop texting you so he nods in return
-after those 2 mins, and the bell rings, you two meet in the bathroom, well, he was waiting for you there first
-"what did you want, lyney?" you ask him as you walk into the school bathroom
-"just... you~" he pulled you into one of the bathroom stalls and held you by the waist, his hot breath against your neck
-"dear archons... i've missed you for these 45 minutes..." he chuckled breathly into your ear, sending shivers down your spine while he smirked against your neck
-he kissed it softly and gently, making you squirm a bit
-soon enough, he was very touchy and very needy, all thanks to you.
-"this is what you get for biting that pencil so attractively~..."
-you had only been hoping that nobody caught you there.

"Hey, Todoroki, there's this coffee shop nearby I've been wanting to go to. Come with me?"
The dual haired boy looked up from his phone.
You leaned over him, hands propping yourself up against the back of the couch. You had dressed out of your sweats and baggy shirt into an outfit more suitable for an outing.
"Seems like you'd go even if I said no." He said sitting up.
"Of course. You think I need you to have fun?"
He hummed then looked back down at his phone. "Then have fun."
"Todoroki." You deadpanned.
When he didn't respond, you sighed and jumped over the couch to sit next to him. "C'mon dude, you know I'm just joking. I need you there for emotional support, I can't place my order myself. Who do you think I am?"
He slumped into the armrest, lifting a slippered foot onto your lap, keeping his eyes connected to his screen. "Then you should go alone. Learn how to do things yourself for once."
You glared at him then pushed leg off you.
"You're so rude. C'mon, please, Todoroki? I promise to get you a drink too. You just ... you'll be physically paying for it. But it'll be my money, swear."
He checked the time for a moment before standing up, headed for his room to change. "Fine. But you come with me to my family dinner next week."
You recoiled at the thought of the tensely awkward situation that would be a Todoroki family dinner.
He made it obvious enough how broken his family's relations were, but pile that on top of you stuck for hours in the same room as the father who greatly disapproved of your friendship with his propitious son?
An absolute nightmare to ensue.
"Yeesh, I think I'd be better off going on my own."
The boy glared at you.
"Fine, fine. Your family's lovely. Now hurry up."
***
Your walk to the shop was pleasant, both you and Todoroki chatting about prospects of the future and commenting on random things that caught your eye.
And as soon as you entered the building, the small bell above the door drawing attention towards you newcomers, eyes couldn't seem to draw away from you.
Well, not you but Todoroki.
The barista taking your order especially seemed to have trouble focusing.
"Excuse me, we're ready to order now." Todoroki repeated, failing to notice how star struck the girl was looking at him.
"... ah, uh, hi, welcome. I'm Mei. What can I do for you?"
As the boy continued to relay your order and pay, missing the subtle hints the barista threw his way, you watched quietly with a smirk on your face.
Todoroki then gave his name and you chose a seat near the window, sitting across from each other.
You leaned across the table, propping your chin up on your hand, giving him a look.
"Well the atmosphere isn't terrible, so let's hope the coffee is up to standards." He looked at you. "... what?"
"Oh, nothing," you looked away nonchalantly, raising your hand to eye your nails. "Just wondering what it's like being the pretty friend."
He raised a brow. "Are you ... insulting me?"
You sighed, leaning forward again but spoke without the teasing tone. "No. Seriously Todoroki, you're hot. And literally everyone can see it. Why do you think everyone stares everywhere you go?"
He shrugged, folding his hands on the table. "Well of course I'm hot. It's part of my quirk. As for the stares, I'd assume it's cause we go to UA. Most everyone knows us by now."
"... I can't with you sometimes. Anyway, whaddya wanna do after this? I'm fine just walkin' around a little. We can go to the park and just chill there until we have to go back."
"Well, there's an arcade a couple blocks down I've heard Ochaco mention before. It sounded fun."
You brightened up, pointing at Todoroki. "Ah, that's a great idea! Haven't been to one in a while. And now that I think of it, I've never been to one with you. Are ya gonna show me up? Show me your gamer side?"
He looked down at the table in thought. "I don't think I've ever been to one. I never had time to go. So I don't really know what it is."
You patted his hand with a sympathetic smile, his life had been crazy from the get go. As great as he was, you didn't want to imagine being in his shoes.
"Well you're gonna regret ever going with me. I will obliterate you in every game, trust."
He smiled with a brow raised, "you really think you can beat me when you can't even beat me at simple games?"
You frowned, smaking his hand, "Hey. I'll have more experience with these games. And I'm pretty good if I do say so myself."
"You also said that when we played tic-tac-toe. And look who's at 10-0 right now? Not you."
You glared at his smug smile for moment. "I hate you."
"Shouto?" A barista shouted up front.
Todoroki stood, heading over to get your drinks. "You should think of something you're good at so you can finally beat me at something one of these days."
"I think I messed up picking you as my friend. Can I get a refund?"
He shook his head with a small chuckle before leaving.
When he came back, drinks in hand, you happily took your cup from him.
You took a sip, letting out a satisfied "ahhh ...."
"Todoroki, lemme have a sip of yours."
He nodded, sliding his cup over. "Can I try yours?"
"Ew, no, I don't want your cooties." You said passing him your cup anyways.
"... cooties?"
You savored the taste of the cool drink he'd picked and looked down at the container.
It was dewy from the ice inside, chilling your hands as you held it. And just underneath your thumb you could make out a phone number scribbled shakily in black marker.
You adjusted your hold to get a better look.
The number held the name of the barista who took your order beside a little message saying "call me" beside a heart.
You grinned devilishly, pointing at it and turing the cup around so Todoroki could see.
"Ooooh~ I think someone has a crush!"
He shook his head. "No, I didn't get crushed ice."
"No, not, ugh," you groaned handing him his cup back. "I meant Mei. She's flirting with you, she thinks you're cute."
"Mei? Is that-"
"No, the lady who took our order and gave you her number. She wants to go out with you."
He looked over at the girl who was busy talking to other customers.
He turned back to you, passing back your drink. "No, I don't think that was meant for me."
"Really. The lady who didn't even notice me when you walked up meant to give that to someone else? Who then, who? Enlighten me."
He sipped his drink with a shrug.
You sighed and took a sip of your drink as well. "I'd imagine you'd make for an annoying boyfriend. Probably shouldn't call her. She'll be crushed, but, hey, it'll save her a lot of trouble."
"What do you mean imagine? I am your boyfriend."
"No, not like that. Not a friend who is a boy, but a boyfriend. You know the kind that takes their girlfriend out a lot and they smooch and stuff?"
He thought about it for a moment. "Well, we do go out a lot but we don't smooch. Should I start smooching you?"
"... just drink your iced skinny carmel macchiatto with extra carmel."
"Actually it's just an iced coffee."
"I know, Todoroki."
"It tastes good."
"I know."
