How would the clans use light sources? Odd question but i was thinking a bit about it. They'd probably would have a sort of lantern that shone in one direction, and could be covered if they needed to quickly hide. I HIGHLY doubt they'd use fire as a light source since you've already covered the pains of making fire, maybe lightning bugs could be used? It all depends on how good a cat's night vision is but i dont think its entirely perfect (esp if its a new moon and theres 0 light anywhere)

They definitely wouldn't need light sources; cat eyes are built specifically for darkness to the detriment of a lot of other things.

The eyes of a cat,

Can't see the color red or green (appears yellow)

Are extremely nearsighted

Have a hard time tracking slow moving objects

Find it easier to see side-to-side movements rather than up-and-down ones.

In exchange they can,

See in almost total darkness

Watch objects moving incredibly quickly

Follow rapidly zigzagging things

They're perfectly adapted for hunting small animals, so they wouldn't need to bother with lanterns or other light sources unless they were going for aesthetic value. Fireflies and luminescent stuff can just be nice to look at; no need to carry around a lantern in a situation where they would be caught.

Though a light source may be helpful in, say, a tunnel-type situation where there is no light to see with. Fireflies wouldn't be very reliable-- but if your cats have wax from honeycomb on standby, candles can be made... though, of course, you'd have to kindle up a flame first.
