50 FOLLOWERS EVENT
A couple days ago, I hit 50 followers. I've only been here for a month and a half, so all of this is crazy to me.
I decided to set up an event with 60 questions. The first 30 are from a book edition ask game by @iknowitwontwork. The final 30 questions are from a new wip development ask game by @writingonesdreams. If you've been seeing me around your dashboard, then you probably know about my new WIP, The Isles of Blirrosia, which I'll be using for questions 31-60.
To play, just send me an ask with the number to whichever questions you want me to answer.

WAIT IM ALSO CURIOUS is there any poetry or maybe a poetry collection you really like??? IT JUST ENTERED MY MIND WHILE I WAS USING MY LIT BLOG PLS FEEL FREE TO IGNORE HSUWHSUWHS
THANK YOU FOR ASKING TOBI AND I'M SO SORRY I TOOK SO LONG! i was thinking which i would pick as favs and then i went to reread them all and then i forgot about this and then i reread them again💀 anyways, i made a short list and wrote a lil bit of why i like it ig?
sooooo, i only have 5 collections:
rachel oates: reflections on healing
the poems of nakahara chuuya
kurt tucholsky: zwischen gestern und morgen (verbatim translation: between yesterday and tomorrow)
berklie novak-stolz: lazarus rises (amongst other things) (idk if you know her from tt maybe, she's really cool and does fandom stuff!)
the poems of edgar allan poe
i have other online books as well but these are like collected works from multiple mostly german poets yk :3
ok i'm probably forgetting so many poems but i'll try to list as many as i can that i really like (a few will be german tho and idk how to translate them really but i'll try if i use direct quotes)
Herr von Ribbeck auf Ribbeck im Havelland - Fontane: someone will hit me for this bc it's such a silly poem about a dude that has a pear tree and on his death bed he says to lay a pear into his grave and ofc a pear tree grows out of it and continues his tradition of giving away pears. and idk it's such a nice thing to think about like your good actions can be carried on after death? it's very nice
The Haunted palace - Poe: reminds me so much of that one short story i wrote in which i personify the house, otherwise i just love poe's flowiness in his poems so so much
continuing with Poe - The city in the sea: oof such feeling of doom, it cannot be compared
A dream within a dream -Poe: there's a reason this is my header, idk why it scratches my brain so much
The Raven - Poe: i don't think i have to explain that one it's just a classic
just like Annabel Lee -Poe, god i'm in love with this poem
Zum Lazarus - Heine: reminds me of Ivan Karamazov, i don't think i can explain it well but it's kind of a criticism of guessing and hypothesizing in regards to god when we don't know what he's up to?
Sonnet 112 - Shakespeare: i'm sorry, but i might as well be frothing at the mouth at "you are so strongly in my purpose bred, that all the world besides methinks are dead"
same with sonnet 139 - Shakespeare
shakespeare in general ig?
(in the collection:) XXIII - Berklie novak-stolz: i mean "hope is a feathered thing i thought to be lost" COME ON!!
III - Berklie novak-stolz: "these words must be pried from my teeth" again. i have no words.
shame - nakahara chuuya: "why, oh why, this shame?" sfskdfhksdhk at this point i can't be coherent anymore i suppose; i've not read many of his works yet but i'm excited to read them
Loreley - Heine: captain is so mesmerized by a woman he sends his ship into the ocean; a classic, very nice, very enjoyable read
der spinnerin nachtlied - brentano (translation: the spinners (?) lullaby)
goethe and schiller are ofc very good poets but idk i haven't been hit in the face by them yk (at least not yet? or maybe school has made me immune to their writings idk, i did like faust a lot tho)
die brück' am tay - fontane
fontane in general has made some nice poems but i'm a bit traumatized by john maynard, like yeah good hero man and stuff but i can't take this serious anymore when i still hear my classmates and me singing that poem
elizabeth barrett browning!! probably especially "my heart and i", i've not read much of hers tho
okay that's like a good overview of what i like :3 again, sorry it took so long and this isn't nearly as long as i'd hoped it to be, but maybe i remember a poem or two later on that i've forgot to mention?
now i wanna know what yours are tho, if you have any👀
#i hope this post is working now and doesn't get eaten by tumblr pleaaaasee#-johnny's asks#ty again tobi this has send me down a rabbit hole multiple times :3#edit: OMG IT WORKED!!!

book asks: 1. 4. 13. 15. 16. 21. 26. 30.
omg thank you! 1. do u prefer a standalone or a series?
hmmm this is hard bc I love standalones but I also think there's nothing more fun than being consumed by a series and like getting inmersed in a world and caring so much about it that you just want to keep reading stuff about it, so I think I'm going with series
4. a book which had a tv adaptation that was better than the book itself?
oh I'm so mad at myself rn because just the other day I remember I thought "ugh this movie/tv show is so much better than the book" and now I can't remember which one was it and it's going to drive me insane. Since I can't remember that perfect answer I had thought of, I'll answer with Gossip Girl. I don't know if it's actually better than the books and it's probably less of an adaptation and more of a loose inspiration but I never cared for the gossip girl books whereas I really like the show (in all it's terrible-ness, it's just fun sometimes)
13. ur fav author (if u have any)?
Fredrick Backman!!!! I love love love his writing and the stories he writes. He's not my one and only favourite author but he is certainly the one that comes to mind when I'm asked this.
15. an underrated book?
These Violent Delights by Micah Nemerever!!!! I get that it's not for everyone but I need more people to read it
16. the book that made u fall in love with reading?
very cliche answer but the harry potter series. I've always been a person who loves reading, at least according to my parents (I basically like taught myself to read and then I wouldn't stop reading anything I could find) but if I have to pinpoint one moment when I like actively started reading books all the time it was after I read the harry potter series when I was like 10 or 11.
21. hardcovers or paperbacks?
paperbacks, thouigh it's not that strong of a preference
26. ur fav quote from a book:
I can't pick one single quote so I just chose one randomly from my little quotes notebook: "Hannah sings along, her right arm flinging out to gesticulate wildly and her wispy hair flaring around her face. She's the most beautiful when she's this relentless kind of happy. Maybe that's when everyone is their most beautiful, especially to those who love them" (from A Million Junes by Emily Henry)
30. give any 3 book recs to ur followers! Brother by David Chariandy
Things my son needs to know about the world by Fredrick Backman
The Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater
ask game (book edition)
#ooohhhh the question about the adaptation is going to bother me so much i cant believe i forgot which one I was just thinking of the other d#*day#also tried to give very different books for the last one#and the raven cycle had to make it there because it's all that's been in my head since i re-read it in July/August (also highly recommend#the dreamer trilogy after it)#anyways thank you for sending me so many questions this was very fun#ask game#books#krysten-knitter#mutuals

Thank you so much for the tag!
Favorite houses: I love the Fifth so much honestly! Love that there's a society with dance cards and dad jokes and overly flowery poetry out there, and I'd love to hear more about how gas giants work. And the juxtapostition of how cozy everything seems there with their tradition of speaking to ghost (and possible expansionist ambitions - appendix to the Fifth moment). Second places are hard to pick - probably the Sixth and the Ninth lol. They're on the verge of destruction <3
Favorite book: Harrow the Ninth my beloved! This applies universally, not just within the series.
Four favorites: Gideon, Harrow, Camilla, Palamedes. They're just so!!!
Favorite ship: I'm always griddling my hark
Favorite scene: I'm going to say the scene where Harrow rescues Pyrrha from the incinerator. I love how visceral the action feels, how impressed and exasperated Gideon obviously is with her efforts, the 'weeny construct' callback, the little passage where she points out all the reasons why it would be easier to let G1deon die and later her little moments of solidarity with both of them (Pyrrha telling her how to ward them out, "I sometimes...forget") - it's perfection, I think it's underrated.
Another favorite scene: Harrow's 1 1/2 chapters after expelling Wake, maybe. Specifically everything she says about Gideon, obviously, and her conversation with the Fifth. If I was making a list of scenes that I need to see fully animated, her popping the bubble and entering the coffin would top it. "No. I'm getting out of here." GETS ME EVERY FUCKING TIME
Favorite quote: Don't make me choose! To avoid retreading ground, I'll go with "I haven't thanked God enough over my life. It always seemed incredibly sentimental. And I didn't wish to presuppose his interest." I love AYU for Jodybeth and the Cam moments and the Marta lore but this is hands down my favorite part. Babygirl I want to study you.
Fav ATN theory: Payoff for the "Harrowing of Hell" reference - Harrow empties the River of the souls in some way, probably to let them have at John and possibly resulting in necromancy disappearing. Generally I just want it to end with Gideon and Harrow alive and not in any positions of power because they need a break. (Also I really want it to turn out that Cam gave Kiriona her sunglasses back - she's still wearing them when they get in the truck but Paul is never described as wearing them.)
If you want: @lady-harrowhark @nooomagnus @vampiringg @ferrn-draws @jctko @desperatelyindenial @frost0wl @loth-catgirl @4phr0d17e @jbm04 @pooltruther @dreams-of-moonbeams @rhatbog @someabsolutenonsense @/anyone
While we're waiting for Alecto to come out, I thought we could have some fun in the tlt fandom :)
I'm not sure if anyone's done this before, but I haven't seen any so I thought I'd make a tag game. just for funsies.
there's absolutely no pressure to tag or to even play, I just wanted to compile all my favorite parts of the series and I thought it'd be fun to share! so without further ado...
_____________________________
My TLT Favorites
Favorite house(s): 4th and 2nd
Favorite book: Gideon the Ninth
Four favorite characters: Gideon Nav, Teacher (Canaan house), Jeannemary Chatur, John Gaius
Favorite ship: Jodybeth
A favorite scene: Nonius vs Wake fight
Another favorite scene: Nona's 3rd tantrum
A favorite quote: "Won't you say one real thing to me? Won't you show me one single solitary human thing? Or are you going to die talking to me like it's just another party you wish was over already?" (HTN pg. 546)
Favorite ATN theory: Alecto is a hideous corpse. (not sure what this entails yet, but I love Teacher so much, and I don't think we spent that much time on him for nothing)
_____________________________
Thought I'd keep it short and sweet, but please, please, feel free to make it your own :)
I was intending for this to be a tag game, so I nominate:
@onefleshoneend0 @transbutchbluess @orionsystem6 @koshertaako @susurra-el-arroyo-manso
but like I said, no pressure! just for funsies!
#tagged#the locked tomb#Solicited locked tomb thoughts? More likely than you think#My thoughts are pretty boring tbh I'm just love them#harrow the ninth my beloved#how much I love the scenes are actually reversed and idk if they're actually my all-time favorites but augh. oughr.#The Judith quote is so fascinating like he's literally your boss. He speechifies about how he loves you and hallows your very bones wym

I hope it’s ok to ask, if no, just ignore it. Do you have a fav lore piece/flavor/quote about/with each of the hunter gang: Andal, Cayde, Shiro and Tevis? If so, which one? I know we all digged “The Man they called Cayde”, but maybe there’s a specific line or piece that you remembered the most?
MAN. SO MANY.
Of course my favorite one about The Gang is from "The Man they called Cayde", because it's like... the only lore book where they all are mentioned together... oh well.
Andal and I used to run with one heck of a crew. This was before he got himself roped into fireteaming up with the top brass. Oh, we were legendary.
The warmth and longing for the good ol' days with which Cayde always spoke about them gets me to the verge of tears every time.
But if we'll exlude that book, let's see...
For Cayde it's hard to choose, since there're A LOT. But I think I'll pick the one I quote all the time especially when our fireteam tries some GMs/dungeons/raids for the 1st time, his line from the Arms Dealer strike:
Plan-shman. Take the radioactive thing and put in explody place. There... there's your plan.
Sums up Cayde and his way of doing things pretty nicely in a couple of sentences, I think 😂
For Andal it's probably this quote from the Tall Tale ship lore:
I said, "Warned you? I was dead, then I floated here. All I've ever done in my entire life is barf into the Pacific Ocean."
It gave me a good laugh back when I read this entry in the game for the 1st time, not even knowing who the hell is Andal. I really like how its overall goofiness and light-heartedness adds up to what other people usually say about Andal and what a cool pro Hunter mentor he was.
For Shiro it's of course this quote from the Holdfast Mask. It got me so emotional I even drew an illustration for it.
There's a stone cairn outside the city; been there since Six Fronts. No one visits it, but once a year, I put a fresh lily on top. I hope it brings them peace.
It's not often we're allowed to see softer and more vulnerable side of Shiro, so moments like these always melt my heart. Also, tbh, I didn't expect something like that from him, but it was a nice surprise. Probably that's why I remembered it so well.
For Tevis it's also easy, this part of his monologue from the Graviton Forfeit helmet sends me each time I read it:
You know what I'd call "dark," in the sense of "grim," in the sense of "cosmically upsetting"? A universe full of weaponized puppets, enacting a genocidal war against the servants of a rival god.
Is this making you uncomfortable? I'm sorry. I'll be more evil. Boo. Grrr.
It's like the quintessence of Tevis, you can really tell what kind of the man he is reading just this one small piece imo.
AND in the end I'll add a bonus one for candal. Sure, everybody knows this absolutely heart-wrenching quote from "The Man they called Cayde" (which made me ship them almost single-handedly):
We both laughed.
Wow. I wish I could hear him laugh again.
Just once.
Funny how all the cool kids leave the party too soon.
BUT HOW ABOUT THIS PARALLEL
But Andal…? Playing nice was his forte.
Cayde was thinking about him on his deathbed, thanks Bungie, it's not like I haven't cried enough about them already, nuh-uh.
#ask#destiny#cayde-6#andal brask#shiro-4#tevis larsen#candal#it suddenly occurred to me that i forget to tag characters in asks#and then i can't find shit in my own blog because of that orz

hmmm i'll go with Logan
Mmmhmm Logan. Nerdy boi. Best partner (in literally every and any meaning of the word) to my Favorite Sleeby Boi.
Favorite thing about him: When he’s a snarky boi. No I cannot provide exact examples at this time but I KNOW that he has canonically been a Sass Master and I love it. I also adore his flashcards. I know that’s random but I do. Carry on.
Least favorite thing about him: His ‘I’m right your wrong’ attitude. Like, not always- don’t get me wrong, that attitude is a valuable part of his Sass Factor- but sometimes it’s just overbearing you know? Like there’s not even room for discussion or anything. Makes me feel uncomfy.
Favorite line: Why do you do this to me (ignore that I did ask for this). I’m awful with picking favorite quotes. Please have this assortment instead: Falsehood. All falsehoods. Anything he said in the epic rap. ‘I don’t think I’m smarter than everyone else... I know I am.’ So many others I don’t remember because I haven’t watched the series in a hot minute. You get the gist I hope.
brOTP: Losleep. No, I am not kidding. When I call Losleep my otp it applies to literally every. single. fricking. category. If you’d like a little originality from me, I also offer analogical. Yes I know I always write it romantic. Aro me has a problem with keeping the two things separate, but those two are a power friendship, and this is a concept you cannot, in fact, tear from my cold dead hands.
OTP: Now, every single person who has so much as looked at me, say it with me: LOSLEEP
nOTP: Intrulogical. Mostly because I just really dislike Remus, so putting them together is kinda a no for me. Doesn’t change the fact that I still think a bunch of the intrulogical things I’ve seen are cute, but still. Not a fan.
Random headcanon: Looks at pile of notes on the floor Uhhhhh just one? Just one. Alright, take this one: You’ve heard of Logan who loves the ocean. You’ve heard of Logan who loves space. But consider: Logan who loves bugs. Big bugs little bugs spiders and worms and creepy crawlies and everything in between. Just,,,,, bugs. (This headcanon sponsored by @vintage-squid )
Unpopular opinion: I assume this question means something I think about him most people don’t agree with. This fandom’s diverse enough I think most opinions I throw out will have some good amount of people behind it, but I can try. Uhhhh: Logan doesn’t actually hate/dislike/disapprove of Thomas’s choice in a career. His backlash towards it (and Roman) come more from his fear of becoming useless to his host (there. did I. did I do a good bad opinion?)
Song I associate with them: Um. Hm. Uh. There’s Miss Independent (Kelly Clarkson) but that only works if it’s him falling in love. Huh. Hum. Cooler than Me is a losleep song does that count. I’m really bad at this alright. Stop and Stare might count as an actual Logan song so have that.
Favorite picture of them: Big fan of the one where he’s in his unicorn onesie, and that One Pic where he’s holding a jar of Crofter’s and is wearing a look that no human word can fully describe the emotion of. Fav would probably be him when he gets called to court, and he’s got that heavy book with him. He looks so annoyed. I love it.
#the cryptid speaks#I do not do these simply do I#yesh I need a life#and yet#I don't want one#hmmmm#ts logan#swsd#also shoutout to Blink#because it's her boi and the shoutout is required by law

Add it to the TBR! --Library Haul!
My library is not wasting time! If you're interested because of current events, they are ready! Grabbed the HRH: So Many Thought on Royal Style. I love fashion and I love analysis especially of things someone is probably doing on purpose, knowing the amount of eyes and curious over-analyzers are on them. Some pages are saying nothing, others are insightful. The amount of scrutiny is incredible. I'm more interested in how they broke norms purposefully and with careful aim at what they wanted to say. Revenge Dress for the win!!
Some new releases I noticed on the new books shelf.
League of Gentlewomen Witches- Feels a bit like a hodgepodge of all our current fav tags: bibliophile, teahouse, pirates, witches, sword fighting, Mr. Darcy. But it's saved by some surprises: like matrimoniphile and unexpected husband. And what a scene to start with. Promises not to be boring and enticing maybe all the way through?
Yerba Buena- Saw this at Target with my conscience yelling: Save money! Go to the library!! This one's a bigger risk with the plot being more realistic and emotional, not my usual magical fair. But we take risks for new authors, especially of color. Once I found out the lead is creole, my ancestors called to take the chance. Onto the tbr!
The Big Dark Sky- Been a fan of Dean Koontz ever since he blended the supernatural odd elements with the usual crime thriller. I love his writing style. A quote on synchornicities digs this one deeper. My intuition must've been right to pick this out of the three Koontz on the shelf, back to back. One day, I'll read all this stories. Masterclass in opening lines too!
Dark Music- Another hodgepodge I'm side-eyeing: Sherlock inspired, wealth and perfect wife, depression, paired with street smart Chilean political refugee, victim is asylum seeker from Afghanistan. Is it just current or is it bait? Is it just a money grab? If you liked The Girl in the Spider's Web, this might fit the itch. 🤷♀️

Tag game
Tagged by @wing--it and @kanekkis thanks, lovelies!
what’s your favourite song(s) to sing/hum?: In the Mourning by Paramour lol. Idk the song is in a tonal range that I can sing and I generally feel better after singing it a couple times.
what are your favourite flowers/trees/plants?: Orchids, red spider lilies, wisteria, bamboo, succulents, and a ton more that I can't remember lmaooo. I've currently adopted a friend's succulents and am try to keep them alive. Wish me luck. The poor lil ones will need it. T^T
favourite colour(s)?: purple, red, blue, pink, turquoise, mint green, and I'm pretty sure I've forgotten a couple more lol.
what do you always doodle (if you ever do)?: Squiggles. Sometimes a very basic flower. I have little artistic ability lmao.
how do you take your coffee/tea? If you don’t like those what’s your fav warm drink?: I don't drink coffee at the moment, but when I did I usually drink it plain. Sometimes I would add cinnamon or melted chocolate if I made it myself. If it's from a coffee shop, I ask for soy or some other plant-based milk for my mocha, latte or cappuccino. For tea, it's usually green tea as I've had that since I was a kid. However, I like trying out all types of tea except for sweet teas as I dislike added sugar or other additional stuff like milk or jams. If I'm sick, I usually drink hot honey water as it helps my throat.
favourite candle scent?: Cinnamon, allspice and peppermint. Though I like trying out other scents. I'm currently wanting to try a watermelon one!
sunrise or sunset?: Sunset. I'm a night owl and really don't watch to see sunsets because that means I have to leave my bed.
what perfume do you wear if any?: I can't wear perfume due to being around people with sensitive noses who will complain the moment they smell it, so I opt for body mist since it's a tad milder (still get complaints though as they just don't like anything that's remotely perfumed). I generally get them from Calgon, Bodycology or Body Fantasies and just choose which ever scent catches my interest lol.
what’s your go to dance move when you’re alone?: ...I'm not the best dancer, so just some hip shakes lmaooo.
favourite quote?: Be kind to yourself - my university therapist lol.
favourite self care thing(s) or routine(s)?: I have a few and it depends on my mood at the time lol. 1) Hot shower and skincare routine, 2) Cup of tea, 3) Nap, or 4) Reading a book or fanfic.
what colour are your eyes?: Dark brown, I think.
what’s your favourite eye colour on others?: Eyes with specks of other colors in them. Some eye colors I've seen had bits of green in brown, grey with bits of blue and green, or grey with touches of hazel.
favourite season? why?: Autumn. Especially mid-autumn. It's not too hot or too cold.
cheek, neck or nose kisses: Nose kisses? I'm not the most affectionate person. I'll give anyone a hug if they need it though.
what does your happy place look like?: My bedroom with a ton of pillows and blankets with hot tea and a good book/fanfic. Or a forest with the sounds of a nearby waterfall and birds chirping.
favourite breed of dog?: Pitbulls! They're the sweetest and most gentle lil puppers.
do you ever want to be married? If so what colours would you pick for your wedding theme?: I'd prefer not to get married. But if I'm getting married to myself...probably purple, including the dress lol.
silk or lace?: How stingy. Why not both?
favourite weather?: When it's cloudy and relatively cool but not entirely to need a coat. Or a clear, sunny day with a slight breeze.
tagging: @katyaton @catamight @smileygreen14 @petrichordiam @ice-tigress but only if you want to! :D

“If a person has ugly thoughts, it begins to show on the face. And when that person has ugly thoughts every day, every week, every year, the face gets uglier and uglier until you can hardly bear to look at it. A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts it will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.” - The Twits by Roald Dahl
“He had a heart that could have held the entire empire of the world; and, in the end, he had to content himself with a cellar.” - The Phantom Of The Opera by Gaston Leroux
“If I am the phantom, it is because man's hatred has made me so. If I am to be saved it is because your love redeems me.” - The Phantom Of The Opera by Gaston Leroux
