The months I was out of work took a huge toll on us and while I'm back to work now, it's part time and all our money (including my dad's pension) went to debt and bills, we don't have anything else to survive until the end March.

My dad needs medication for his diabetes (and I need it for my own health issues), and we need food.

ko-fi fic uploads

hey guys, I'm going to start putting some of my new tumblr prompt fills and writing warm-ups (ficlets of 4k-6k length) up on my ko-fi!!

Monthly supporters will be able to go into the gallery tab on my ko-fi and click on an uploaded image. The title will be which tumblr-based au the ficlet fits into and how many words it is. The description beneath the image will be a quick summary of the au and a link to the google doc containing the ficlet. The "root" au post, aka the post that started the au on my blog, will be linked as well on that google doc.

This will not affect my wips and progress on them in any way! I feel like that's very important to state - I write these sorts of ficlets all the time because it helps get me in the writing mindset for writing ao3 fics. I will just be spending a little extra effort on them to put them up on ko-fi.

I will NOT be posting any ficlets on my ko-fi that you need to read to understand a fic on ao3 - that's some disney monster conglomerate kind of shit. I will also still be posting shorter ficlets (1k-3k) on tumblr as I write them, especially if I'm answering a prompt someone sent me here. Again, I think it'd be a bit of dick move to not do that

I'll try to vary which ficlets go up on ko-fi and every time I upload one, I'll make a post about which au it is as well as a link to the page in case anyone wants to, idk, unsubscribe for a month because they hate the hopeless in coruscant au, and then refollow next month because they enjoy the playmaker au etc etc

I'm definitely still trying to figure out what I want this to look like and what feels fair or reasonable, so hopefully this isn't a huge mess on my end!

I'm sorry but Gojo is so fucking adorable to me. When he gets excited when he finds out Yuta is distantly related to him I be giggling and kicking my feet like he finally has a family member that is like him that he can stand. "YAY YUTA ^_^"

It was clear Gege originally planned to have Yuta be the protagonist but I prefer Yuji THEE TIGER Itadori. Having such a close tie to the main villain is much more compelling to me. I do love Yuta too, he's such a sweet kid. But Yuji just has that spunky charm that makes him sweet and super cool. Plus his design is more fun.

I'm dying my hair Sukuna pink soon. ^_^

"That you might be interested in a nine inch dick. Which, I may or may not have. Rough estimate, I did not use a ruler." He grinned as Tim's head slowly rose from mournfully kissing the tabletop. "And if you want to explore these avenues and inspect the merchandise, I expect you to buy me dinner first."

If Tim's mouth stayed open longer, he'll catch flies. Jason barely stopped himself from snickering. It's always a treat to make the other Red speechless.

Tim recovered pretty quickly though, throwing his hands up. "Are you seriously propositioning me? You didn't even let me finish propositioning you! I was gonna ask you first!"

It was his turn to stare. "Oh. Really? Wait... What were you gonna ask?"

"Well, I was gonna ask if you could pretend to be my boyfriend to get stupid people off my back. But then you go in and--"

"Step on your moment--"

Tim narrowed his eyes and Jason raised both hands in surrender. "Ruined my plan. Rude, by the way. Hilarious, but rude," He continued. "But if you're interested in dating me... Wait, are you? Or is this just a sex thing?"

"Dating. Yes. Also yes to sex. If you want."

"Oh, I want. Both. All. Everything."

"Good."

"Good."

They stare at each other.

"Do you want to go on a date now? So we can--"

Question. Possibly naive question at that. So I totally understand and respect why ao3 doesn’t allow any mentions of monetization of fanwork. But I am wondering — how do we feel about fanfic commissions as a concept? Obviously I would never dare mention it on Ao3, 99% bc of the TOS and 1% cuz it seems gimmicky, but also, like, it’s very much a thing I do. . . Are fandoms opposed to fanfic commissions? Or is it more of a “legally I can’t endorse this but you do you”?

In the kind of LJ culture that built AO3, people did that for charity, like Fandom Trumps Hate now. Making actual money from your fic just wasn't done in those circles. In older zine circles, people "covered costs" only, but sometimes, those "costs" included a hell of a lot more than other fans approved of. On one end, it meant the literal printer's bill; on the other, it meant some pay for the editor's time and the gas to get to a con on top of the table fee, registration, and hotel room. In the 2020s, different parts of fandom are all over the place in attitudes towards selling fic in various ways.

Personally, I find it weird and distasteful. If I needed to earn money fast, I'd do original fetish commissions. If I want to write for money overall, I'll do what I do now: original novels with some of the same vibe my fanfic has.

When too much profit motive enters hobby spaces, the social atmosphere changes. A knitting meetup at a yarn store works okay, but someone trying to sell their hand dyed yarn at a meetup in the park tends to mess with the vibes. Someone else's dinner party is not an appropriate place for mlm shit. etc. etc.

Fanfic spaces are even more vulnerable to having the social scene ruined. There is already, inherently, a certain amount of pressure to write what is popular. Adding a direct profit motive exaggerates that even more.

I simply Could Not resist drawing their Bill in this ridiculous incredible and very fashionable pink feather dress, even though he only briefly wears it in their fic, so I also did a little bonus doodle of him in his standard hoodie to make up for it. XD (Also, as far as I'm concerned, Bill and Mabel were both correct in that lime green accessories make the dress Much Better.)
