HELLO!!!! before we get into the rest of it i just want to say how much i appreciate you showing up every single year, and that goes doubly so now when i've been more mia than not 😭

unfortunately i wasn't able to see niall on tour (the downsides of living in buttfuck nowhere 😔), but rand and gwen sent me some really lovely videos when they went to the MSG shows so i almost feel like i DID see him.

and you remembered the cake too omg!! you're right, you pour condensed milk and caramel over it, then top with whipped cream. it's SO fucking good. this year tho, i decided to get an oreo blizzard ice cream cake from dairy queen and it was fucking delicious.

anyways onto the questions:

i don't exactly know how to phrase this as 'something i learned' but i feel like my biggest takeaway from the past year is that i finally feel like at the big ol' age of 31 going on 32 i'm like....coming into myself? figuring out who i am and what i like and how i want to spend my time and who i want to surround myself with and all of that. so maybe the thing i've learned is that what everybody says about your 30s being the time when you REALLY get to enjoy life as a fully realized human is actually true.

this isn't a cop out i swear, but i....don't think i have a regret from the past year? at least not anything major that really stands out rn? there's maybe a fleeting thought every once in a while that i wish i could've gotten to this part of my life where i really do feel so happy and fulfilled sooner, but i don't know that it's necessarily a regret because ultimately isn't it the journey that makes us who we are...

oh god, i really am just gonna be repeating myself from the past however many fucking years but GENUINELY it's ok to not have everything figured out!!! the day will come when it starts falling into place and up until that point it kinda fucking sucks but that's ok!!!! again, it's all just part of the journey 💕

so, life has been so stressful with little sleep. i’m taking five classes rn, including chem, physics, and three nanotech classes. engineering club officer and working part-time as a bubble tea barista. idk its a lot for me T_T trying to balance it all. the nanotech program is kind of all crazy rn because the department head switched out so there aren’t any undergrad research workshops and stipends for the time being, the internship partnerships are being reworked too T_T. physics is still super hard, i made a c on the last test *sigh* but i was happy when it was over. chemistry is probably my favorite class rn but the info can be a lot sometimes. my teacher is really cool lol he likes sharing a lot of personal stories. always spilling the tea lol. i love my nanoengineering classes but there’s so much reading lol the labs are so cool though. i have so much i have to do not even school wise like register my car in this state, get new insurance, errands, clean my room etc. i got the new animal crossing dlc and i literally LOVE it, my cat has been acting real relaxed lately and i’m worried. i still have a robotics kit i need to work on...and i cant wait for the new pokemon gaaameee and new episodes of insecure and arcane. okay time for bed, class is in 4hrs ahhh

Hmm I feel like I would like him because of his personality? Like around Tsukishima and Kuroo I won’t get too flustered because I feel like with them we’d be friends/enemies before we started dating but Akaashi would be the guy that I would have a crush on from watching him super far away,,, I’m not particularly shy when it comes to talking to others because I’ve always been able to get along with guys more than girls but like,,, There’s a chance I’ll mess up completely if I approach him lmao. 1. i’m slowly getting into more groups!! which is something that i wasn’t expecting AT ALL but so many people i’ve met here are multi anyways so i just naturally became curious. holy shit i love the boyz? i’ve been sleeping on them SO BAD. also fromis 9 y’all wtf (my top groups rn right after seventeen)!!! i was solely a seventeen stan (as in, i only kept up with them and their schedule/comebacks). currently learning golden child n wjsn + have been listening to sf9 recently once this semesters over i’ll have time for things like this asdkasj. 

2. my deepest fear rn? probably feeling unprepared for my upper level classes next semester and for the next two years. i feel like my bio + chem knowledge is so mediocre and i’ve just been doing the bare minimum in everything to like.. move on to the next thing lol i’m just going through the motions. i don’t really try to fully understand concepts but that’s the school system babey. 

3. cafe vlogs really help me calm down?? like hearing ice do it’s thing and clink clank. also seeing how pretty people make their drinks? like iced americano does not look appealing to me but seeing the espresso being combined with the water? idk usually a barista’s job is like,, really stressful but these vlogs make me feel at peace.

3. what is your gender presentation like?

i basically go with the flow.....honestly my Fashion Sense is real simple, really just jeans and tees (usually graphique) and yeah i also like throwing in a layer actually but also, unfortunately, I’m Sweddy all the time.....sometimes i like to wear something different, usually for Particular Occasions or just in the mood.......i rarely mess around with makeup and if i do it’s just like, idk, Maybe eyeliner lip gloss eye shadow....it’s more about having fun with it though like, really i’d go wilder when i felt like it and have it be like studio killers style colors down the face, i would cover myself in body glitter for fun b/c glitter is great and everyone is cowards..........i don’t really wear a binder that often nowadays but sometimes i totally do. it’s always been a bit confusing b/c i’ve never quite been able to fully Curate my own wardrobe cuz like, originally living with parents who really cared about my Gender Presentation, and after that not quite having the time / access / funds to go all out and do a lot of clothes shopping....but yeah honestly i think the jeans/shorts/tees is pretty much My Look. also that reminds me, yeah for the past ten years i’ve been in the process of cutting my hair shorter and shorter and i like it that way. rn it’s a great undercut that i continuously maintain myself via bathroom mirror lol......i Really don’t like that much length on the back or sides. i actually Have considered shaving my head but never committed and also a) that’s even more of a pain to grow out than an undercut and you gotta maintain it all the time. so yeah what i’m down to wear really kinda involves a mix of what’s considered Men’s Fashion and Women’s Fashion, but it leans very much towards those jeans/shorts/graphic tees/ no makeup / short hair. oh and sometimes i accessorize w like, bracelets / necklaces. but only sometimes and when i’m goin out and stuff. i’m not too fancy

6. top five favorite parts of your body (n why you love them)?

hmmm.....well i’d like to thank my legs for being long, b/c i am basically a solid 5′11″ or 6ft tall. i guess my vocal cords are a part of my body and i’m a tenor and we all know that altos and tenors are the best. body hair sure has “body” in it and is def technically part of it and i’m fairly hairy, my armpits are pretty solid and i’ve got hair on my stomach / thighs / chest and, excitingly, my eyebrows are connected and i get hair on my neck too (which is a little annoying so i kinda trim it down but i don’t like to shave it off completely b/c people think it’s weird and i’m testing them) my head hair is alright but boring tho, just brown and determinedly straight. uhh legs voice hair......i get freckles, and that’s great, my favorite physical trait probably. and uhhh.......well my brain’s doing a great job, i need that to be a conscious being, and can’t actually think of a fifth thing

milo sky kilopascal burrows.......well for a long time “milo” was just like, my favorite Name....i don’t have many standouts there so it was hardly a competition, i probably took conscious notice of it via milo bloom, shoutout to my puzzling through 80s comics when things like the far side’s humor is very difficult to grasp at like, age 7. my informal-but-no-seriously Middle Names so far: for a long time it was like well “milo” is the only name i Specifically Want and there’s certainly nothing Significant out there....in true nonbinary fashion (and just trans fashion in general) going for those Names Of Objects, Baby!!!!!! i kinda leaned towards wanting something science-y related, science has Great names and terms and stuff.....and ever since taking chem i always liked the phonetics of Kilopascal and that it abbreviates as kpa lol........so i was like, fuck it, let’s go with that! and Sky is not only an object name that sounds nice but is also something i like. “burrows” occurred to me last summer when i was rereading lotr, which is a fun book obv, and also i read a fair amount of the appendices, those hobbit family trees, there’s a “milo burrows” who’s a cousin or something of frodo’s on the baggins side, i was like, oh i’m already a milo, i’ll take another character reference, love for it to be from lotr, “burrows” sounds fun and there’s nothing Else of ~great significance~ that i’d pick for a last name and god knows i’m never gonna think up a better one on my own, so, there we go. oh shit and i’m remembering that milo burrows is in the main text!! in the very beginning he’s left one of those Ironic Gifts: a pen and inkwell b/c he never answers letters. me neither. what an icon

You don't have to be the nerdy, no-friend-type to have no life at all. I studied for more than 5 years plus Ph.D. and I hardly had free time, no holidays, nothing. If you fail in my country three times you're straight out, and you are never allowed to study it again soo maybe juust maybe it's not her stuff :D If you're not dedicated, Chemistry will swallow you whole and shit you out. I just learnt she’s now repeating the year to do the subjects she’s failed and thus doesn’t go to the 2nd year’s classes at all (oh well damn, she’s gonna pay a lot cash for that, that is if she gets it bc she told me she has no idea how to bc she doesn’t have a job currently)

But I so agree. I’m like on biotechnology and everyone says it’s the hardest field you can pick on the uni I’m studying at and I literally have no life at this very damn moment. The people say chem’s close to be a draw witch biotechnology in the how tough it is criterium so like, I knew right away that this is the worst attitude one can have towards studying. Rn I still think she’ll probably fail because she isn’t doing shit and she should be studying considering the three subjects she failed are too difficult for her to pass with no problem? Like… she didn’t pass, right?? Not to mention if you study right away then you only revise for the exams and not cram for them with hopes you’ll reach the lowest mark to pass somehow. It’s not how one should study.

Especially when it’s maths and unorganic chemistry and you are on an uni that will make you a friggin engineer if you graduate (maths & physics r a must) and you’re studying chemistry.

I’m finally done with midterms!! Did my last one today! And if I graduate, I’m done with midterms for my entire undergraduate degree!!! I’m doing well in p chem, somewhat well in biochem basis of disease… failed my second physics midterm so not so much. I’m so behind in physics it’s not a joke. I’ve been so lazy about it, but I take comfort in knowing this one engineering dude from my school didn’t pay attention at all for all four classes and had to grind shit out in two days. I squeak by with very vague understanding with the tutorials and labs, but that’s it haha I’m dead for the final.

I’m the kid who mooches off other peoples (physics), but also the kid who gives out the assignment answers in another class (p chem) so I think that balances things out.

I only have two finals this year - p chem and physics. I’ll have around two weeks to prepare for both bc I’m planning to start studying for both by this Friday. I feel SO behind on p chem too even though that’s the only class I actually pay diligent attention to haha. Because I need it and am actually interested in the material.

Unlike my other two classes lol. Biochem diseases is okay but the prof makes me hate the course (and his guts).

I joined iGEM! Saw them post on Instagram about a month back. Then an opportunity came and I literally “applied” through discord and now I’m on the team. It’s a long summer research project until the end of October. We are supposed to come up with an idea, design/build it from scratch, and then present it in Paris in October. The team’s cool and my physics lab TA is on it too lol. So far, we have two ideas… and idk if it’s just me but I’m kinda not feeling it anymore lol.

Idk what’s wrong with me, but maybe I’m just burnt out.

I also got a job opportunity which I submitted my resume and shit for today. So nervous. Full time during the summer, paid, going to be working on airborne diseases and shit. Literally this came up a week after I joined iGEM I think.

I’m gonna answer this as what made me first start straying into his lane.  So he’s always been a wrecker of mine because we’re similar and we’re close in age, plus I love his eyes so much and his personality is just so lovable.  Also his singing voice gives me chills.  I just love Jeongin oof.  But he’s really become a huge wrecker for me ever since I went on asc and my friends (who call themselves love detectives XD) were convinced that he had a crush on me, and while I don’t fully believe it bc like that’s impossible esp for me lol, his reactions and stuff were cute and it just made me soft seeing him be so sweet and adorable when interacting with me.  And then I started watching a bunch of videos of him and stuff and I’m even softer for him.  Yeek someone help me.

Oof this is hard.  I really love his eyes, but I think the thing I like most about him is his smiley personality.  his smile is so beautiful and I love the fact that he started smiling more when he was told people were scared of him because he looked intimidating.  I actually can relate to that, because when I was in middle school as well, people thought I was mean because I had rbf.   Also I just love his interactions with the other members, especially Seungmin and he’s such an underrated meme like the faces he makes XD  Also the way he literally freezes when he does aegyo is like the cutest thing ever???  Like what’s not to love about him tbh.  But anyway yeah he’s just such a sweetheart and he’s so precious.

honestly, I’m not sure, because we’ve seen him reject the members countless times, but idk if that’s him trying to maintain his savage maknae image or if he really isn’t comfortable with that sort of thing.  I am a koala though, and I even cuddle anything next to me when I’m sleeping, so I’d probably unintentionally initiate skinship constantly, so probs me?  But like I’ve seen him interacting with Felix on vlives and like Felix one time just leaned back on him and was like playing with his knee and Jeongin actually like lowkey put his hand through Felix’s arm and it was really subtle but sweet and adorable so I feel like he might do like really lowkey stuff like that that he might not realize at first?  Like absent-mindedly putting his hand on my arm or elsewhere and stuff like that.  Idk I just feel like he isn’t as afraid of cooties as he seems but he’s still pretty shy.

all of them autumn.  Autumn is my favorite season, and plus it’s the season for cozying up by the fire with my favorite autumn scented candles and hot apple cider and I can bake cookies and pies and stuff.  And autumn is also halloween, so we could wear amazing couple costumes and eat a bunch of candy and watch scary movies together (with me ending up in his lap hiding my face in his chest bc I’m the jumpiest person ever).  It’s also the time my family tends to go to Disneyland, so I could go there with him over Thanksgiving while the festival of holidays is going on so we can go on all the special revamped rides and eat a bunch of the special foods and enjoy the ambiance and take a million cute couple photos at different parts of the park and go on California screamin and the Guardians ride a million times and take adorable photos on them as well.  Oof I’m sorry I could go on about all the Autumn things I’d kill to do with Jeongin omg

BOTH OF US  I already have 3 dogs and 2 cats and I’m sure Jeongin would love all of them, but he’d also want one that was like ours so he’d probs get at least another puppy and name it some cute name that’s like an inside joke or something that only we would get.  Or tbh he’d name it a marvel name like Loki bc we’re both geeks like that XD  (one of my cats’ full name is Loki’s Bolt of Chaos, so...)

*♡ ｡･ﾟﾟ･ 16. Which one of you would nearly burn down the kitchen try to microwave a pop tart and who would come to the rescue?

I’d def burn down the kitchen, I’ve already burned myself countless times and set myself and my school’s chem lab on fire...  and Jeongin would come in a panic and try to stop the fire but he’d be clueless how to stop it and end up having to call Chan to help.  Cut to twenty minutes later after all the boys were dragged out of bed by the commotion, glaring at me and Jeongin while Chan lectured us about the dangers of trying to make a snack at 3am while half asleep.

*♡ ｡･ﾟﾟ･ 17. Who likes to lean over tall railings and who pulls them back?

He’d lean over and I’d pull him back because one of the major fears I have is losing things I love over a railing/bridge (ahem my phone, I always have a hulk-like grip on it when on bridges and the like) so I’d be terrified he would fall off and if he didn’t go down immediately I’d probably have a panic attack and end up crying bc like I said that’s like one of my biggest fears and I couldn’t afford to lose him.  Obvs my crying would make him immediately jump down and see what was wrong.  And after that I’d hold his hand tight and make sure he didn’t get within 3 feet of a railing.

*♡ ｡･ﾟﾟ･ 18. What would watching a horror film with them be like?

I feel like we’d both be pretty terrified (tho I’d def be more terrified cuz I’m the jumpiest person ever), and Jeongin would try to seem cool but inside he’d end up being too scared to go to sleep that night and we would just end up staying up and talking and watching comedies and stuff.  Maybe he’d find it cute when I squeaked and jumped during the horror movie??  Idk lol

I feel like both of us would be the shy flirt.  Like Jeongin is a shy floof and I just spazz out when trying to flirt, so I wouldn’t actually be able to flirt with him until I was more confident with our relationship.  Like I’m okay flirting around people I’m not crazy about, but with Jeongin I’d be super shy and end up tripping over a trashcan and falling on top of it as a result of me trying to look cool in front of him.  (funny story that actually happened to me.  The guy definitely noticed me lol.  And talked to me.  Literally just to ask me if I was okay bc he saw the whole thing including me walking into two walls right before then... yea... and that’s def not the only time I’ve embarrassed myself and spazzed out in front of my crushes...)

Probs me.  But when I like someone I either turn like extremely competitive to look good in front of them or whatever or I do the exact opposite and let them win bc I don’t want them to feel bad or be annoyed by me.  But with Jeongin I can totally see myself getting super competitive with him while baking cookies or something and we like turn it into a contest to see who can make the best cookies and then he tries to sabotage my batter and I try to retaliate and it ends with both of us on the floor covered in flour and chocolate

Probably Jeongin, like I’d take care of him whenever and obvs I’d be constantly worried about him, but I feel like he’d nag me for being awake/on my phone at 4:00am and I’m very forgetful and all that lol.  I can see him trying to seem all judgey or savage ahem fact attack Jeongin u guys like “tf are you doing up, we both know you need that beauty sleep” but after a few months of me panicking and thinking he actually meant exactly what he said, I’d realize that’s just Jeongin’s way of showing he cares so I’d start sassing him back and wow I just turned this into a rant/me just droning on about texting Jeongin someone help me

I’d def send memes and tbh he would too lol, but if either of us sent like a sweet serious text (esp him), we’d reply with a lovely wholesome meme (esp me).  But tbh once I got comfortable around him (cuz I’d be shy af at first), I’d def just send him a million sweet messages, although tbh I’d more likely call him 24/7 bc I miss him and I’d say it to him over the phone as opposed to through message.

Yes, we are safe. Thank you so much for checking in. We did leave before Ida came but I was going to stay until, at 9pm the night prior, I got emergency texts telling me power could be out for as long as 3 weeks. I had a pack of granola bars, some cereal and a case of water, to be realistic, because I thought I was moving the 31st. 😬 I drink so much water so a case doesn't last me long...... and with Echo needing water, too... and the heat working against my autoimmune disorder + my northern, spitz breed dog, I just couldn't handle it. I also got really scared at the last second coz everyone outside NOLA kept comparing it to Katrina and I was like "??? Can we NOT! 😭" Lol. Ugh.

It took us a minute to even find a dog friendly hotel room and the closest one was 7 hours away. 😵 I drove through the night. Left at 9pm. Got there at, like... 8am coz of all the stops I had to make. Then today I drove the 4 hrs to my parents house from there.

My friends are all okay. One lost his house... :( Others have minor structural damage, but are otherwise okay. My apartment is presumably fine, but I have no idea. I'm assuming it is untouched. 🤷🏼

I'm trying so hard to keep in contact with everyone. But everyone has no power and spotty service so I'm savouring the updates when I can...

My uni is out till Monday, as of right now. Chem prof apparently wants to keep the date of our tests??? Ugh.

As for moving........

This is the first lease I've had with only my name alone on it and I was supposed to move today (31st). I definitely am not doing that now coz I'm 12 hrs away. But wtf is going to happen to my stuff when my lease ends tomorrow? The office and corporate are not even open. I left a message for both of them. They want to charge me 100 dollars for every day my stuff is in the apartment extra but like.....i literally don't have that. AND that's apparently illegal??? I couldn't help this? Ugh...

Fuck.

I'm so stressed rn haha. My landlord is gonna end me. 🙃
