Kings Island trip report!!!!! June 2023.
Kings Island was as great as I had hoped. I had been wanting to go here so badly for so long, and it exceeded expectations. Beautiful park, great operations, great rides. Loved it. Now let's talk coasters.
1) Mystic Timbers -- 5 rides -- This has been one of my most anticipated coasters for a long time, because of how insanely fast it looks in POVs, and I was not disappointed. It absolutely feels as fast as it looks -- the pacing is excellent, the transitions are quick, and the airtime never stops. The twisting drop is fun, and every hill delivers with the negative Gs, from the larger hills to the smaller banked hills. However, the out-and-back layout causes Mystic Timbers to lack the twists/turns that make Thunderhead feel so out of control for me. As a result, while I love both rides, Thunderhead remains my favorite GCI by a small margin.
2) The Beast -- 4 rides, including 1 night ride -- The Beast may be one of the most iconic roller coasters in history, but it is still ridiculously underrated among enthusiasts. Because of that, I went into this ride with low expectations. And boy oh boy, was I blown away. The first drop into the tunnel rocks. The setting deep in the woods is incredible. The ride feels like it is never going to end. The finale after the second lift hill is, of course, the highlight. The unnatural banking on that shallow drop is a crazy sensation on its own. And then, the love of my life, the double helix in the tunnels!!!!!!!!! The continuously increasing speed plus the LATERALS plus the tunnel wall being right beside my head on the left side of the train!!! All of this is crazy enough during the day, but at night, deep in the woods where you cannot see what is coming next??? WTF????? I waited over an hour and a half for my night ride, and my god, for the way I was losing my mind during that ride, it was sooooo worth it. A large part of me wants to put The Beast above Mystic Timbers. It's impossible to choose.
3) Diamondback -- 4 rides -- This is one of my favorite B&M hypers, right up there with Goliath. It's hard to choose between Diamondback and Goliath, as they are both great for different reasons. The airtime on Diamondback is unlike any of the other B&M hypers I've ridden. Diamondback may not (key word here is may) have a hill that outdoes the first hill on Mako in terms of one singular moment of sustained floater, but cumulatively, Diamondback has way more airtime than Mako. Even in row 7 (the closest to the front that I rode), the airtime hits. But in the back row??? I managed to be the least stapled I've ever been with this type of restraint, and I thought I was going to die on the first two camelbacks because of how sustained (and relatively powerful) the floater air is. Even the drop off the midcourse and the small hills after the midcourse give good airtime. And I love the splashdown on this ride, not only because it looks cool, but because you can actually get wet in the back row if you try.
4) Orion -- 4 rides -- This ride is extremely underrated. I think people who act as if there is some kind of night and day difference between Orion and Fury are insane. The height and the sense of speed alone are amazing, but Orion also has a great mix of forces. The first drop is excellent and basically indistinguishable from Fury's first drop, giving great airtime all the way down. The positive Gs at the bottom of the first drop are awesome. The inward banked hill after the drop does nothing, so that's one legitimate complaint. The speed hill after the turnaround and the camelback that follows are the standout elements. The speed hill gives borderline ejector airtime, while the camelback gives great floater. I also like that this ride has a helix to add some more positives into the mix. The helix is not as intense as I would have hoped, but it was still good. (Maybe I'm just spoiled by the beautifully sustained positives of Goliath's 540 degree helix.) Overall, just a great ride.
5) Banshee -- 1 ride -- I really needed to ride this more than once to get a good feel for it, but I just didn't have time, and honestly, I didn't really want to because of the restraints. I try not to let little things ruin my opinion of a ride, but I cannot get past those vest restraints on some B&Ms. Anyway, I liked this ride. The drop is huge, and there are no midcourse brakes, so this ride has breakneck pacing and crushing positive Gs, which I love. However, the inversions are more gracefully profiled with far less whip than the other inverts I have ridden. I found the slow inline twist at the end to be particularly out of character. The snappy inversions are the main reason why I have loved every other invert I've done, and because Banshee falls short in that regard, it ranks as my least favorite invert. (Also of note, this ride rattles hard for its young age. I personally don't mind that, but thought it was worth mentioning.)
6) Invertigo -- 1 ride -- This inverted boomerang is so much better than a traditional boomerang. It is incredibly forceful and didn't really bang my head at all.
7) The Bat -- 1 ride -- This is a completely different ride than the only other Arrow suspended coaster I've done, Iron Dragon. The Bat has a great sense of speed, as it is continuously descending throughout the ride. The setting in the woods is nice, and the swinging is crazy in parts, particularly coming into the final brakes.
8) Racer -- 1 ride -- I love my woodies, but these old PTCs just aren't the intense ride experience that I need. This one actually did give a little bit of airtime on some of the hills, and it is very smooth since the recent track work. Just a nice, fun ride.
9) Adventure Express -- 1 ride -- This is one of the better mine trains I've done, but it's still a mine train.
I didn't ride Flight of Fear or Backlot Stunt Coaster, as I have already ridden their clones at Kings Dominion and wanted to spend my time on re-rides on the top 4. But they would rank at #9 and #10 respectively, following Racer.

classmate jeno x reader with enemies to lovers please 🥺
There were a million and one reasons why you couldn’t stand Jeno:
1. he’s an asshole
2. he’s the student body president for the second year in a row (you lost twice)
3. he’s a popular rich kid
4. he’s smart, athletic, AND good looking (I mean seriously... who is that lucky?)
Just to list a few.
You went to school together all your lives and it somehow felt like each year he got more and more irritating. This year is your last year and you promised yourself you wouldn’t let whatever ridiculous rivalry you and Jeno had ruin it. And so far you had done a good job of keeping that promise until this very moment.
School had ended for the day, marking the completion of the first week of your senior year. You were reaching for a pen that dangled from a string next to a sign up sheet when you felt the warm skin of another hand brush against yours. You raised your head planning to mutter a quick apology to the person until you locked eyes with that bastard Jeno. The soft expression on your face immediately went icy as did his.
“What do you think you’re doing?” you spat at him, the pen lingering in your hand. Jeno plucked it from between your fingers and wrote his name on the sign up sheet. Your eyes went wide and he dropped the pen, letting it hang from its string once more before turning to you and stepping forward.
“What does it look like I’m doing?” he towered over you with his height.
You groaned, stomping your feet before whining “You’re already president, why do you have to join yearbook too?”
Jeno rolled his eyes, “Because I need more clubs for my college application.”
Your eyes shot daggers into his. You picked up the dangling pen and scribbled your name under his on the list before turning on your heels and walking into the open classroom next to you. You emerged from the room an hour later, expressionless. You pinched yourself, hoping that today was just an awful nightmare. Person after person left the room, walking past you until the hall went quiet with the exception of a few voices that lingered further down the school hall as people slowly made their way out.
Things had gotten just slightly worse. When choosing the president for the Yearbook club, you and Jeno ended up in a deadlocked vote -- thus encouraging Mr. Park, the faculty member in charge to come up with the brilliant idea of electing you both to share the presidency. As if it wasn’t bad enough that you had to be in the same club. Now the two of you would be spending basically the entire year together working on such an important project.
“Im not going to let him ruin me, I’m not going to let him ruin me, I’m not going to let him ruin me,” you repeated to yourself quietly as you slowly walked towards the nearest exit, in what felt like a daze.
“That is quite the mantra,” teased Jeno. He had left the classroom last after talking with Mr. Park and caught up to you at some point. You jumped at the sound of his voice.
“What do you want now?” you groaned.
Jeno stepped in front of you blocking your path.
“Does it look like I want to be president with you? I’m being mature about it because it’s what everyone else wanted so you should stop acting like such a brat,” he spat.
“You’re calling ME a brat? How ironic,” you scoffed, “You’re already in a ton of different clubs and hold multiple presidencies. What else could you possibly need for your college application? You could even buy your way in if you wanted to.”
Jeno froze at your final sentence. You continued the assault of words. “You know what your problem is? You can’t stand to lose,” you said, standing toe to toe with him. Jeno chuckled under his breath before bending slightly so that his face was hovering over your face.
“You know what your problem is, princess? You’re okay with losing unless it’s to me,” he began, “You may still be royalty but that doesn’t mean you are anywhere near as powerful as I am,” he said as he straightened himself back up, walking backwards as he spoke. He tapped on one of the series of pins fastened to his school uniform jacket and you dropped your gaze to see what he was gesturing to -- it was a golden line drawing of a king’s crown. You locked eyes one last time before he turned around and stormed out of the school, leaving you standing alone in the empty corridor, blood rushing through your body with your fists balled up at your sides.
That night you returned home, diving right into your study routine and getting an early start on some assignments to distract yourself from the awful day you were having. You had just gotten comfortable in bed when your phone buzzed with new notifications. You leaned over to squint at the bright screen.
JENO: It’s Jeno
JENO: School tomorrow. 5:30pm.
You groaned before reaching for the device to type out a reply.
Y/N: How did you get my number?
JENO: I’m the student body president. I can do anything I want.
JENO: Just be there we have work to do.
You rolled your eyes at his response before locking your phone and drifting off to bed.
The next day flew by the way Saturday’s typically did. You had breakfast with your family before heading out for a jog and coming home to do some workouts on youtube in your bedroom before taking some time to study and do some yearbook club work. When that evening finally rolled around you threw on some black biker shorts and a comfy oversized black graphic tee with some rock bands logo printed on the front before putting your hair up into a bun.
Your school uniform was very preppy looking and you had to keep up appearances so every other part of your appearance had to be up to the same standard everyday. This resulted in you dressing quite “girly” so you enjoyed being able to dress down on the weekends when you weren’t out socializing.
Once you were done getting ready you made your way over to the school. According to Jeno, he had both keys and permission for the both of you to get some work done despite it being a Saturday. A security guard was parked outside by the gates when you arrived and you held up your yearbook club pass before he gave you a quick nod then immediately returned to watching some sports game on his phone screen and eating a sandwich.
When you finally entered the school and got to the Yearbook/Media club lounge, you found Jeno leaning back in a computer chair as he clicked away at the mouse with his eyes glued to the monitor. He didn’t hear you when you entered because of the headphones he had covering his ears. He was dressed down too. He sported grey sweatpants, and a white t-shirt and his black hair looked slightly damp as the strands clumped together slightly and rested against his forehead. He nodded his head to music, and tapped his free fingers against the desk he was seated at.
When you stepped further into the room he spun in his chair to face you. Jeno’s eyes scanned the entirety of your body before he slipped the headphones down to his neck and spoke.
“I almost didn’t recognize you without your preppy headband, all that makeup, and those stupid earrings you always wear,” he muttered.
Okay, low blow. The downside to wearing school uniforms is that you lose a lot of your individuality, and the school rules limit what you can and cannot wear. In fact, students had to fight for the right to accessorize until the ban was lifted. You personally enjoyed wearing tons of different earrings from hoops, to waterfalls and of course you felt a nice headband would draw together your academia look. Both were your signatures and makeup was just a given at such a fancy school.
“I’d insult you back but honestly you look a lot less annoying when you’re not wearing that preppy uniform jacket filled with pins and patches,” you snapped back.
“Whatever, I never said it was meant to be an insult,” he mumbled before gesturing for you to come look at his computer screen.
“I’ve been working on the first draft for the welcome week pages. I think we should follow this layout and theme for the rest of the yearbook. I’m submitting it to Mr. Park,” said Jeno.
You looked over the screen as Jeno waited for your feedback. “I like my version better,” you said after a few minutes.
“Your version? Let’s see it then,” he urged. You took a USB keychain that hung with the rest of your keys out of your bag and connected it to the computer before leaning over Jeno and pulling up the file. He shifted his chair backwards to give you room, and sat back as he admired you from behind. It wasn’t until you spoke to him again that you realized what he was doing.
“How does it look?” you asked as the document loaded onto the screen.
“Real good...” he said as his voice dropped an octave. You turned your head to face him, catching him with his bottom lip trapped between his teeth and his eyes still set on your backside before he drew them up to meet your gaze and flashing you a cheeky smile that turned his eyes into crescent moons.
“Stop being a perv and come look,” you said sternly as you changed your position, lowering yourself to your knees by the monitor. Jeno scooted his chair forward again before looking up at your work. Within seconds he had a series of critical comments spilling from his mouth thus triggering a heated argument between the two of you.
“You know what? I’m tired of going back and forth with you. Let’s just send both to Mr. Park and see which one he likes best,” he challenged. You were both on your feet now and standing toe to toe like you did yesterday during your face off.
“Fine,” you accepted. Jeno sent the files off and the two of you drifted off into other work. You were both working in the dark room, developing some film, when you heard the faint sound of an email notification ring out from the monitor in the room next door. You and Jeno immediately looked at each other before frantically wrapping up your work and rushing to the computer.
The two of you were huddled closely by the screen when Jeno clicked on the email to reveal its contents. You both silently read the screen before you were overcome with disappointment
Mr. Park: Hey President’s. Both look great and would work perfectly with this years Yearbook but if you want my personal opinion, I think I’m leaning more towards Jeno’s! Great work so far and kudos for being so productive on a Saturday! Reach out if you need anything.
You groaned as you stood back up. Jeno chuckled next to you.
“Congratulations, you win again,” you snapped at him. He was so caught off guard by your tone that his smile fell from his face immediately and was quickly replaced by a smug expression.
“Is that all that matters to you?” he asked raising his voice, “winning?”
You were toe to toe for the third time now and it was really starting to get on your nerves because Jeno was built and tall and something about him looking down on you made this stupid position even more annoying for you.
“One thing! You couldn’t just let me have this one thing!” you yelled back.
“Oh... my... GOD. You are unbearable!” Jeno groaned as he ran his fingers through his hair in frustration.
“You want to know why I couldn’t let you have this one thing?” he started, leaning down closer to your face. He was inches from you now and his breath danced across your lips when he spoke.
“Because... you’re such a fucking brat. Every time you whine and complain all I can think about is filling up this pretty mouth so I don’t have to hear your voice anymore,” he said through gritted teeth, reaching his hand up to your chin.
“And your face... the look on your face every time i beat you at something or take something away from you... the way your eyes get big and teary, and the way you pout your lips like you’re doing right now” he continued, running his index finger across your bottom lip.
“Nothing turns me on more than taming you like this,” he whispered. Your body shivered under his touch. You were fuming on the inside at his words. They hurt. Yet you were also feeling things you had never felt before. Your eyes scanned Jeno’s face, along his lips and eyes and his jawline. Your nipples hardened underneath the cotton material of your shirt. Jeno noticed. You fought back tears of frustration as one slipped down your cheek, cursing yourself for being so turned on at a moment like this.
“Don’t cry, baby girl,” Jeno muttered as he took his free hand to wipe away at the tear as his other hand cradled your cheek. Your hands were balled into fists at your sides and you stood frozen in your spot.
“You’ve been so worried about me ruining you, but maybe that’s exactly what you need to get rid of that attitude...hmm?” he murmured.
“I-I hate you,” you sputtered out, sounding more whiney than angry. Jeno let out a breath of air as the corner of his mouth turned up into a brief smile. He  stepped closer to you and you stepped back until you were trapped against a table.
“Yeah, whatever,” he mumbled as he hovered his lips dangerously close to yours, eyes searching yours for any sign of resistance. You broke eye contact with him as your gaze settled on his lips. You subconsciously licked your own as you blinked away the remainder of the dampness in your eyes.
You didn’t notice the way you gravitated towards his lips like a magnet until he leaned away from you slightly and your lips chased after his -- not letting the distance grow too much. Your eyes were still glued to his lips which had formed into a smug grin when you noticed how you had chased after his lips like a needy girl just as you felt the first wave of heat rush to your face.
“Just as I thought...” he muttered as one of his hands dropped to your waist and you felt him tighten his grip ever so slightly. Jeno ran his hand down the side of your body, trailing his fingers along your thighs before running his hands back up again -- this time gripping the bare skin of your waist underneath your graphic tee.
You sucked in air when his warm hands came in contact with your skin. His eyes were glued to your face and his expression showed a slight hint of darkness. Jeno gripped your waist with both hands firmly before suddenly lifting you off the floor to sit on the edge of the table you had been trapped against.
You let out a gasp as your butt landed on the cool surface, leaving you seated with Jeno standing between your legs. He bridged the gap between you by stepping closer and pulling you by your hips -- until every part of you was pressed against him. Your hands flew up to his chest to stop you from literally crashing into his chiseled torso.
You accidentally let out a breathy moan when your crotches met -- feeling Jeno pressed against your center, leaving only the thin material of your biker shorts and your undies between your bodies. Jeno bit his bottom lip in response and rolled his lips once more, making you whimper and sending your hands sliding from his chest down to his waist. You hesitated but your hand placement was a dead giveaway that you wanted more friction. Jeno pulled at your hips one more time as he met your center with another stroke. You felt wetness begin to pool between your legs and tightened your grip on his waist. This time it was you who pulled him forward but he froze just before your bodies could properly connect again as you desperately tried to rut yourself against him.
“Look at me,” he ordered. Your gaze immediately locked with his, eyes wide and lips pouted, a bit frustrated that he had stopped moving.
“Good girl... Didn’t think you’d listen to me so well the first time,” he said, rewarding you with another roll of his hips. You groaned at the contact.
“F-first time?” you question, rolling your hips to meet his as his breathing became more unstable.
“It’s gonna be a long year, baby,” he started, “We have to work together, so it’s my responsibility to calm you down when you get all bratty.”
There was something really sexy about the way you both managed to continuously grind against each other in pure ecstasy while having a full blown conversation, speaking between moans and grunts.
“I’m n-not a brat, you’re just an asshole,” you snapped as you crossed your legs at your ankles, pulling him against you even harder.
Jeno cursed under his breath at the friction as his hands reached down to grip at your ass before mumbling, “only person who thinks i’m an asshole is you,” he taunted, “you on the other hand are widely known for acting like a complete...”
You interrupted him with another roll of your hips, as a groan slipped from his lips. “Choose your next words carefully, Jeno,” you warned.
he chuckled before finishing his almost forgotten sentence, “princess... that’s what you’re known for. For acting like such a fucking princess,” he groaned.
Jeno wasn’t entirely wrong. You did strive for excellence when it came to your common interests in academics and extracurriculars. In fact, a pet peeve of yours was the fact that you and Jeno were always compared to each other, with most of the school being shocked that two people who were so alike seemed to always be at war with each other. In everyone else's eyes you were both one in the same.
Though you were respected, you weren’t delusional. There were definitely people who weren’t fond of you, but you had chalked it up to mere jealousy that was inevitable for a person who excelled as much as you did to experience. Jeno must have noticed your mind wandering because he lifted your chin slightly to direct your attention back to him muttering a soft “hey...” as he snaked his free hand up your shirt, hands brushing against your bare breast.
You moaned when you felt his fingers tease your sensitive nipple. “Whats wrong with being a princess? People only call me that because they’re jealous,” you questioned. You had definitely begun to soak through your shorts, as you watched a faint wet patch begin to show on Jeno’s joggers. You gripped at the collar of his shirt as he dropped his head down to your neck, leaving a trail of kisses all over the delicate skin.
“F-fuck,” you groaned at the contact, hips jerking.
“Exactly,” jeno said, lifting his head to lock his eyes with you again. “They’re jealous of how powerful you are... but that’s exactly what turns me on,” he confessed.
He ran his hands along your cheek, leaning in to a whisper. “Do you know how hard it makes me when I think about turning the most powerful girl in school into a powerless mess?” Jeno tugged at one of your nipples as he finally drew your mouth into his for a kiss. You whimpered into his mouth, overcome with pleasure.
Jeno deepened the kiss and for once you just allowed him to take control. As much as you hated him, you couldn’t deny that his energy was intoxicating and yes, maybe you were a little bit jealous of him for the same reasons as others were jealous of you.
How could you not be attracted to someone who was as driven and talented and equally, if not even more powerful than you were in that regard. As much as you butt heads there was no doubt that you were very much a good fit for each other-- if all the fighting and competition were set aside, that is. But this didn’t matter right now. All that mattered was the way he was making you feel. It was as if though all those years of tension had finally bubbled over.
Jeno’s tongue swirled against yours sloppily, just the way you liked. Even your bodies seemed to be on the same page. He pulled away from you after a few minutes of making out -- leaving a trail of spit hanging from your lips to his as he lifted you off the table and carried you over to one of the couches in the lounge area of the room.
The sun had already begun to set ages ago, and only the faint hint of the computer screens you had been working on were illuminating the room. Jeno sat on the couch with you straddling his lap as he pulled his shirt over his head. You did the same and soon enough you were both left topless. Jeno wasted no time drawing you towards him and trapping a nipple between his lips as he palmed your other breast. You arched your back into him letting his name spill from your mouth.
He kissed his way back up your chest as he pulled you in for a kiss.
“Mmm.. Need all of this gone,” he said as he pulled at your shorts. You got up from his lap, and he immediately began to peel off the remainder of your clothing, dragging the material down the length of your body.
His breath hitched as he stripped you of your shorts to reveal your white cotton thong. He brushed his fingers softly against the material before mumbling to himself, “cute...”
His fingers ran against your slit, feeling the damp material under his touch and making you grow weak in the legs.
“You’re so wet for me already... Such a good girl,” he said. Hearing words of praise fall from his lips like that made you feel so soft. For some reason, compliments hit different when they came from him. Your eyes drifted to the growing bulge in Jeno’s joggers.
Your mouth fell open with the sudden desire to be filled with as much of him as you could fit as you slowly fell to your knees. Jeno raised his eyebrows while he watched you intently. You tapped your fingers against his knee, “off, please” you said as you pulled at the strings in the waistband of his bottoms.
“Fuck, do you know how good you look on your knees for me?” he said as he lifted his hips to get rid of the rest of his clothing. Your eyes went wide when he finally settled back into his seat and began stroking his length while analyzing your expression.
For once you couldn’t blame him for the arrogant expression on his face. He had every right to be proud of what he was packing.
“Ugh, is every part of you perfect?” you complained as you scooted closer to him. You dragged your fingernails along his thighs as he drew his bottom lip between his teeth again. Your fingers danced dangerously close to his member as he slowed the movement of his hand before letting go of himself.
You wrapped your hand around him, shocked at how much bigger he looked between your fingers. He throbbed and raised his hips slightly, thrusting up into your first. “Needy...” you teased, looking up at him as you giggled softly.
“Y/n” he whimpered, a bit embarrassed at the sounds leaving his mouth now that you had momentarily gained the upper-hand. Jeno watched as you pressed your tongue to the slit of his cock before popping the head right into your mouth and sinking down around his length in one go, bottoming out.
Your lips were wrapped around the very base of his cock when you moaned around him, making your entire mouth vibrate.
“Holy shit,” he moaned loudly as he reached out a hand to draw circles on your cheeks while you worked at his length. You lifted your mouth all the way back, as his hips jerked forward again, fucking into your mouth as another whimper fell from his mouth. Your eyes were locked in his and you couldn’t believe how different he looked. His hard expression had gone soft. You had definitely managed to strip him momentarily of his power.
“So naughty - where’d you learn - to use your mouth like this- huh, princess?” he asked between thrusts. Your eyes watered but you continued to let him use your mouth as you watched him grow more desperate.
You removed him from your mouth with a pop as you pumped at his length fast. Jeno cursed under his breath before letting his head fall back on the couch for a moment.
“Gonna c-cum,” he warned.
“Look at me,” you ordered and Jeno obeyed.
You locked eyes as you delivered the final pumps, and waited with your mouth open and your tongue out as you felt him throb underneath your grip before spurts of his warmth shot up -- spilling onto your tongue and dripping from your lips down your chin. The remainder of his cum had spilled over onto your fingers, and you released him to pop them into your mouth to clean them off.
You were aimlessly licking and sucking at your fingers, caught up in your own world when you noticed Jeno staring at you, chest rising and falling with a surprised expression on his face.
“Hmm?” you hummed as you titled your head, wondering if everything was okay. Jeno, who had just cum harder than he ever had in his life was in pure disbelief at how you sat so calmly and managed to look so sweet and innocent with his cum dripping down your chin as you suckled at your own fingers. The sight alone made him start to grow hard almost instantly.
After a few seconds he snapped out of it, leaning forward and cupping your cheek in his hand like he had been all night.
“D-don’t think I’m letting you win that easily,” he muttered. He motioned for you to get off your knees, and he drew you in for a kiss as he repositioned you both on the couch so he would be on top of you. You seemed to have sparked the competitive fire within him.
Jeno hadn’t expected you to switch on him like that and he was determined to follow through on his promise of ruining you.
He trailed kisses down your body, skipping your pelvic region to drop kisses along your thighs as he peeled off your panties.
“I’m sorry but I won’t be going easy on you... not after what you just did,” he warned as he pushed apart your thighs. You could feel the warmth of his breath against your center and it drove you insane.
Jeno carried out the first lick along the length of your slit and it was enough to have you moaning and immediately roping your hands in his hair. You had been turned on for so long that even the slightest touch felt like heaven.
He flicked his tongue against your entrance, muttering to himself about how great you taste, teasing you as your clit yearned for attention. He worked at your flesh, dipping his tongue in between the folds of your center before prodding at your hole and slipping his tongue inside. You tried to move your hips against his mouth but he firmly held you in place.
“Jeno, p-please,” you pleaded. He smiled against your skin as  he continued to dip his tongue into your hole, driving you closer to the edge but still not quite getting you there.
“Whats wrong, princess?” he taunted before running his tongue up the length of your slit, once again avoiding your clit. You whimpered, reaching your hand down to feel yourself before he roped his fingers in yours to stop you. He lightly flicked his tongue against your clit, just enough to send electricity running through your body but still not enough to please you entirely.
“I want to hear you beg for it,” he said as he blew air softly against your center, the sensitivity was overwhelming. He planted a soft kiss directly on top of your clit that would have melted your heart a bit if you weren’t so violently horny at this point. So instead, your hips jerked against the plushy feeling of his pursed lips. Jeno chuckled at your body’s reaction, before repeating the action -- drawing the same result.
After the third peck landed on your clit, and the third jerk of your hips sent you into a frenzy, you simply couldn’t resit any longer.
Tears pooled at the corner of your eyes, and words spilled endlessly from your mouth. “Please, Jeno.. fuck, please let me cum. I’m d-desperate,” you confessed as your hips raised off of the couch, and he pulled away teasingly watching you squirm beneath him.
“How would you like to cum, baby?” he asked.
“I need to feel you inside of me,” you pleaded before adding a soft “please” to the end of your sentence.
You watched Jeno position himself at your entrance before stopping.
“i’m on the pill, we don’t need --,” you assured him, reading his expression.
He groaned straight away, interrupting you before you could finish as his mind drifted to places he was too ashamed to admit. He ran his head along your slit, making you twitch before he entered you with a quick snap of his hips, bottoming out immediately and forcing a scream from your lips.
You weren’t sure what to expect from Jeno but it definitely wasn't this. He angled himself perfectly, propping you up so he was hitting all the right places as he pounded into you relentlessly. Within a single minute you were both racing towards your orgasms.
“I’m close,” he murmured as he planted a kiss to your lips.
“Me too,” you answered, “one last thing...” you said as he continued to thrust into you at a delicious pace.
“Hmm.. what is it, baby?” he asked. You locked eyes with him, feeling quite shy at your next words.
“F-fill me up, please. I want you to cum inside of me, really really badly,” you whimpered and with a final groan at your unexpected demand, you felt Jeno’s warmth spill all over your insides, sending you right over the edge and leaving your insides contracting against him. The two of you remained exactly how you were for awhile.
Jeno was the first to move after catching his breath. He slowly slipped out of you with a breathy moan before lowering himself towards your center and softly licking at your folds even though they were covered in his own cum.
“Shit, i’m sorry... I barely made it to the end of your sentence before letting go,” he chuckled as he lapped at your skin.
“JENO” you shrieked as an unexpected orgasm rushed through you again when he flattened his tongue against your entire slit and you found yourself moving against his mouth in seek of more pleasure. You pushed his head away as you clenched your legs together feeling a mixture of both pleasure and agony run through your body.
“Sorry, sorry, sorry... last one, i promise” he laughed as he moved to your face to plant soft kisses on your cheeks and a peck on your lips. It took you a while to come back from your high.
it was a bit late when you guys had finally cleaned up and locked the school back up. Jeno had driven you home in his new Volvo which he tried to convince you was a totally normal back to school gift, and had texted you for the remainder of the night about things like yearbook, and homework. It almost seemed as though what had happened was merely a dream.
It wasn't until you were back at school on Monday that you realized that going back to normal was going to be impossible. You and Jeno still bickered over Yearbook decisions and didn’t hesitate to challenge each other during class debates but things had changed. Every annoying exchange you had simply fuelled your desire more.
You’d get into intense match ups only to find yourselves coming up with excuses about Yearbook club to sneak out of class for quickies in Jeno’s car. He even had his way with you more times than you could count across his desk in the office he was awarded after becoming student body president. At first it was fun -- your adrenaline would pump at the thought of sneaking around so much but then things slowly started to shift again.
Soon, you would spend afternoons at his freaking massive mansion of a family home where you guys would go over yearbook work. When you didn’t have yearbook work to do, he began inviting you over for study sessions, and to do homework -- all of which would end in amazing sex. Soon those invites extended to regular hangouts for no particular reason but to enjoy each others company and you found yourself drifting away from casual hookups to something that felt heavier -- more serious.
The final nail in the coffin was when Jeno let your little secret slip after getting so worked up in a class discussion. You had been discussing the symbolism of a film you had just watched for an english class when you began to clash.
“Baby, that makes no sense,” he mumbled after you had shared your opinion. He was doodling aimlessly on his notebook. The entire class went wide eyed, and a few gasps were let out.
“Actually, it makes perfect s--” you began before freezing. You had just noticed his mistake, and everyone had noticed yours which was how the pet name didn’t seem to phase you at all. Luckily Mr. Park quickly moved on to another topic as you both sat cursing yourselves silently.
After the final bell rang for the day, you locked eyes with Jeno.
“Idiot,” you mouthed. He offered you a sheepish grin in return as he approached your desk.
“I’m sorry, it slipped,” he began, “but now that every knows..” Jeno, slipped his arm around you as you entered the hallway. Most students minded their business, which you were grateful for while others stared and whispered.
“I have a student body meeting for the next hour... you have debate team right?,” he said as you approached an intersecting series of hallways. You nodded.
“I’ll meet you outside then, and we can go to mine to go over the photographer schedules for this months events,” Jeno said.
“Sounds good,” you responded before turning on your heels to head in the opposite direction. Jeno’s grip on your wrist had him tugging you back towards him.
He stood above you with an annoyed expression on his face, pouting. He pulled your face close to his, mumbling about you being heartless before he planted a lingering kiss on your lips, of course drawing the attention of onlookers. Your cheeks were on fire when he pulled back, leaving you flustered and a bit embarrassed as he shot you a final wink before checking his watch and rushing off to his meeting. You turned around to head to debate club, wondering how exactly your biggest enemy had turned into the sweetest, most caring lover you could have ever asked for.

Meva lead us to a narrow canyon, where walls stood adorned with strange carvings I could not decipher. Every angle was perfect and the walls were smooth as glass. I realized that the canyon had not been formed naturally. The canyon walls had been carved by the Dronk.
We came to a circle of polished white stones inlaid into the floor. Meva said that in order for us to see the Dronk, the stones must be stepped on in a precise pattern. Once this was done, the Dronk would come. Her grandfather had studied these stones and eventually discovered the pattern. The pattern had been taught to her when she was a child, as a sort of dance. She thought she was learning a kata or a family ritual. Not until much later did she realize it was the key to unlocking the Dronk's stones.
She completed the dance, and the final stone she stepped on sank into the ground two inches. I could hear the clinking of underground mechanisms as stone slid against stone. Spires of minerals covered in crystals sprouted from the ground in neat rows. Black, tangled orchards of petrified trees rose against the canyon walls. All was silent. We stood waiting for three hours. At one point, Meva pointed behind me, and I spun around to see three stone beings. They had a simple form, like a children's drawing. Their heads were huge rectangles with coarse holes cut clear through the head, allowing the light of the sky to shine through. Their bodies were rectangular stone. Their legs and arms were slabs.
Two Dronk pulled a third from a white stone monolith. They pulled out the body, setting it aside. Then they pulled out an arm and hung it on the body. This process continued until the third Dronk was completed.
"Do you see that, Tzurk? They're giving birth!" Meva whispered to me.
The newly formed Dronk was the same size as the other two, but he walked awkwardly, staggering as they guided his first steps. One of the Dronks used his finger to carve a symbol onto the new Dronk's forehead.
"You will hunt for us." He said. "Your name shall be Hunt."
When this was done, the Dronk turned to us. He welcomed Meva. He said he knew her, from long ago, when she had come to the valley with her grandfather. Meva bowed. The Dronk said he'd seen her as a baby, and he never forgot a bloodline. His name was Grel, he was the one who used the creation table and gave names.
Meva asked him if he could build a device for us to contain the heart of the mountain, and motioned for me to show him. Grel looked long and hard at the purple fuzz-ball, when I held it up to him.
Then he said, "We have no use for this, because we cannot die, but this has been hunted for by mortals for as long as time has spun. Everyone who found it before you, was either killed or vanished."
"Does this mean I will die also, or was I meant to have it?" I asked.
"Neither or both." Grel replied.
He motioned for us to follow him to the monolith, which he called, the Skeev Table.
Grel stirred the shiny white surface of the monolith like it was liquid. It didn’t move at all like solid rock. After a moment, he drew out a device that had an open hatch and two hinged arms on either side. Taking the purple fuzz-ball from me, he placed it in the top compartment and snapped the lid shut. Drel handed the device back to me, "These mechanical arms can pull the soul from one thing and hold it temporarily in the machine or transfer it into another object or body."
Grel put the corner of his stone head on Meva’s hand as if to kiss it. "Visit us again, Meva. Now go in peace."
Leaving Dronk
We left the Valley of the Dronk, and continued our trek to the cottage Quace had shown us on the map.
It was well off the main path, surrounded by thick woods; A much more inviting place to stay than the safe-house, and with no threat of turning into baby goats. The roof was tiled with bark shingles and the walls were of split logs. The front door was flanked by small windows.
Inside, the cottage was dry and warm. There was a rocking chair, a rug made of angora elephant, a framed bed, and a painting over the fireplace.
After dumping our packs on the bed, we went outside and explored the area around the cabin. Not far off, there was a grove of wild Mink-Mer trees. Their branches hung low from the weight of the fruit on them. I plucked one and we shared it, the sugary juice running down our chins.
To the south, a stream trickled down from nearby mountain peaks, run off from the thawing snows many miles above us.
I've looked back on our time in that cabin, and longed to return to those memories. It was the best time of our life. We were free from worry and concern, and our love continued to deepen. I can only think of one moment when it all went stink-bad.
The Baby Gardens
Meva went outside in the cool of the morning and paced off a large square field, then a second field in the shape of a giant circle. The square field was for boys, and the circular was for girls. By our custom it was mandatory to build both fields, and to decide which field would house the seed only after both were complete. Some couples demanded only males. Some demanded only females. Some demanded the exact same amount of each sex. Some decided to plant all of the offspring in one season. Still others chose not to plant any seed at all.
We had long walks around the two fields, Meva gleaning every weed from the area so that it looked pristine. All rocks and pebbles were moved to the outskirts of the fields, making an accidental sweeping rock path around them. She set up boarder markers of stick then drew a string taught between them. We gathered smaller sticks and placed them along the string to mark the border. She sang a song about the family inside the border, and how one day they would meet the family outside the border. The land was rich for reproduction.
It came time to plant. I exhaled, and a small sack lowered from the bottom of my torso. Where I am from, the sacks have three black marks on them; two of them look like circles for eyes and one mark below looks like a smile. Inside of the sack contains any number of seeds from one to ninety-nine. We are forbidden from checking the count of seeds in the sack, so the day of planting is always a surprise.
The next part of the planting ritual is up to Meva. She pokes her finger into the "right eye" mark of the sack, and the line that looks like a mouth opens up and says, "YAAAARRR!" then the number of seeds we are to plant that day come out of the mouth. In our case, one seed came out and landed in Meva’s open hand. Next she was to choose which field would receive the seed. Would it be the square field or the circular field? But before she could make her choice, something terrible happened. The seed withered in her hand and blew apart in a puff of smoke.
Shock came over Meva’s face as she considered the seed obliteration in her hand. She looked up at me to see how I would respond. I was not sure how to act. The first thing that came to mind was what people would call her from now on, "Obliterator." I pushed that word out of my mind because-- OBLITERATOR. No! Not Meva! She would not be known as an obliterator! It is true that other obliterators who did not want to be known by that name often claimed that they never tried to have children in the first place. But that was hard to do for the couples who more publicly built their square and circle fields in thickly populated areas. Sometimes the husband took the blame, claiming that no seed was ever produced from the sack in the first place. He would be known as "Seedless." That is a name so shameful that we would shout that curse to our enemies on the other side of the battlefield, "Seedless! Seedless! Seedless!"
Meva wept in my arms, and said I could leave and find another female. I told her that I would rather be married to even an obliterator than any non-Meva female!
She had the desperate idea to use the soul transfer device to put her into the body of a viable female, but the idea was wrought with difficulties. The first would be to find a female who wanted to be pulled from her body into Meva’s. Why would a female want to be removed from her own body? Perhaps if she had an incurable disease! If she was going to die anyway, she would want to switch bodies with Meva, then Meva could bring us a baby, and we could figure out something else to do with her incurable disease. Perhaps I could build her a mechanical body in which to house her soul in case of an emergency.
Meva was willing to do this, but I did not like the idea of using the soul transfer machine lightly. It was for emergencies, and it needed much more experimentation before we knew the limits of its power. I was not sure how trustworthy the housing device we got from the rock people would be. What would happen if the device failed? What would happen if the device killed the purple fuzz-ball in the middle of a soul transfer? I assumed the body would be obliterated, and the soul could be cast into the air, a homeless ghost in search of a body! No! Experimenting on Meva would not do! She was already sad enough by not being able to bring us children.
We did not turn the two fields under, but we did not keep nature from claiming the ground for the forest again. Trees grew in those fields, male trees where the square was and female trees where the circle field used to be. Rocks tumbled back over the ground, male rocks where the square field used to be and female rocks where the circle used to be. The weeds came.
Meva and I never brought up what happened in those two fields again.
Artism
Five years passed, and we had thoroughly researched the soul transfer device. I took most of the notes, and Meva formally put everything in her secret journal. We concluded our experiments, having grown weary of research, and put the soul transfer device in storage under the bed.
With the diversion of research over, I noticed Meva spent long hours staring out the window. She was looking at the baby gardens, now barely visible under a thick patch of weeds.
One day, Meva went outside to draw shapes in the soil using sticks. She told me it was a new art theory she was working on called Drawshapism. Then she pushed sticks into the ground and call it Stickism.
Not to be outdone, I piled rocks up in front of our cabin and called it Rockism.
Soon her stick artworks began to fill the yard, leaving little room for my rock expressions. With no place left on our property to properly display my art, I decided to pioneer a new undiscovered genre of fine art. I plucked pinecones from the surrounding trees and re-hung them from the branches. I called it Pineconeism.
Meva thought I was mocking her art. I asked her why she didn't think I was just mocking Rockism. She claimed intuition. She said that Pineconeism was redundant and derivative, which infuriated me.
Out of spite, I tied the pinecones onto the exact place from where I plucked them, inciting more criticism from Meva. She said she couldn't tell if the pinecones were growing naturally from the tree, or if I had plucked and tied them back onto the branch. I feigned offense and yelled, "You do not have an eye for art or you would recognize Pineconism when you saw it!"
She declared a new form of Pineconism, where the artist did not pluck the pinecone from the branch and retie it before declaring it a work of art. I thought this was obviously silly, and said as much. She yelled, "You are just jealous of my superior form of expression, Tzurk! You know that I have discovered an authentic movement known as Pineconism!"
"You are not even making art, Meva!" I yelled. "What you are doing is called NATURE, not art!"
She glared at me, "That is what all stupid people said about great art when it was first discovered! They did not have the mind to understand such things. I am shocked to know that you are one of those people!"
I pointed to the ground, "Fine! I just discovered Groundism! It is when the ground is just the ground. In fact, the whole world is already my work of art because it is all covered with the ground. I will sign my name to the world."
I snapped a stick from the ground, and signed my name to the ground.
Meva’s face turned red with anger, "You just broke off one of my stickist artworks!"
"Well, there weren’t any other sticks I could use to sign my name!" I shouted back, "Someone picked them all and stuck them into the ground!"
That night, Meva moved out of our bed and set up a pile of clothes to sleep on in the corner. I saw the stupidity of our fight and said so. But she would not talk to me, and would not return to our bed.
That night I did not sleep. When we slept together, I rested my hand on her hip. The empty space she left in the bed was haunting. I kept looking over at Meva in the corner, and could not believe I acted so stupid to her. I realized that she was really trying to be an artist. She needed to create. She hadn't started Stickism to spite me. She was expressing herself. I was the fraud. I was the one acting in spite.
That lonely bed was a warning that if I continued to disrespect my treasured wife, I may just end up alone… forever.
The next morning, I saw her stirring, so I went and lay down beside her. I apologized to her and admitted my spite.
She held up her hand to quiet me. "I curse my love of art. I put it before you. I forgive you, but I don’t want to pursue Stickism or my fraudulent form of Pineconism anymore."
She took my hand and placed it on her hip. She said, "I have a new form of art. I call it Tzurkism, and I will only ever be a Tzurkist!"
"And I am a Mevaist. I will only be obsessed with Mevaism forever!"
Research
I threw myself into the study of the soul transfer machine. Meva documented everything in a secret journal (Undisclosed location. Trust me, don’t even bother trying). When I first turned the machine on, we could feel it drawing power from the surrounding environment. If we used it too often, the surrounding trees would droop from exhaustion and the grass would lose its color. Though we didn't feel anything, it was my suspicion that the soul transfer machine could even be drawing its power from Meva and I.
With the use of some handmade baskets and some string, I was able to trap small spirds on which to experiment. We always had a few in cages along the back wall of our cabin, and took them outside when weather permitted. The first specimen I caught was an adult spird that looked healthy. We called him "Specimen A". I put him in one of the transfer machine’s claws, and had the other claw touching a rock. This was to emulate my first experience in the blank mines when I touched the purple fuzz-ball and went into the mountain.
I pushed the button to power the device, and it began to hum. Then, with a flip of a switch, Specimen A went suddenly limp, and the soul transfer machine cut its own power. Meva pushed her fingers through Specimen A’s feathers, feeling for a pulse. But there was none to be found.
We inspected the rock. I picked it up and held it up to my face. It was cooler than room temperature, but there were no visible signs that anything was different.
"If you are in there, little spird, hold on tight and we will bring you back to your body!" I said.
The claw of the machine was, once again, attached to the rock. The claw on Specimen A remained and we turned the machine on. With a flip of the switch, the spird sprang back to life. It's head snapped up, and it's feet clenched. We kept Speciman A in a cage just long enough to make sure there were no lasting side effects. Later that spring, we set Specimen A loose, and he built a nest in a tree that grew from what used to be our circular field.
It was not clear exactly what happened in the event of soul transfer. We were not sure if the soul got extracted from the body, and that caused the heart to stop, or if the soul transfer stopped the body’s heart, which released the soul to be transferred.

creator tag
rules: It’s time to love yourselves! choose your 5 favourite works you created in the past year (fics, art, edits, etc.) and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you brought into the world in 2019. tag as many writers/artists/etc. as you want (fan or original) so we can spread the love and link each other to awesome works!
thank you to the lovely @judearaya @outphan and @alittledizzy for tagging me!!
1. life is but a dream (fic)
an underrated lil baby of a fic, at least in my biased opinion. i’ve always found most comfort in understanding and using natural imagery, so although those lads never go outside i wanted to write a fic about what might happen on such an occasion. at the time it also didn’t help that i’d asked a friend of mine (whom i’ve liked for years) to go rowing together cus it was late summer and why the fuck not. we were making arrangements, but then she just stopped texting at all for two weeks and nothing came of it. it was rough, so i vented my heartbreak by imagining a universe where at least someone else could get the rowing date they wanted.
2. the king (fic)
again, this was a result of my own personal life - you guessed it: heartbreak! i was driving into town, healing over someone who had recently rejected me, listening to this fic’s song, and then i realised “this is like how i imagine phil felt in 2009 before oct 19.” because pining for someone who is sending mixed signals, pining for someone who seems confused even though in your eye there is no clearer answer? that is some relatable shit. writing this was largely therapeutic and helped me come to terms with my own situation, through exploring fic!phil’s feelings. because this fic was more than just surface pining: it is about all the insecurities, all the anger, all the panicking which comes with it. the key to it was that anyone reading it knows that things do turn out for the better and dan does choose phil, even if neither can see it now. so for myself, it was reassurance that when life hits rock bottom there’s only one way up, that the present does not reflect the future. but at the same time, even if things are destined to improve, it is beyond your knowledge and your feelings now are still valid. you are allowed your anger and your sadness, but do not take it as the end.
3. ‘talk abt dnp love languages and the way they express them pleasee’ (meta)
back in days of old when i got anons, sometimes i did a bunch of interpretation/analysis stuff, and this was probably my favourite to write. i don’t have much to say about it here other than that it’s something i’ve seen people discuss at length and i hopped on the opportunity to give my two cents on it lol
4. ‘you are the drum!’ (gifset)
my first ever gifs, the day i got photoshop completely legally *cough*. are they good quality, rich in technique? fuck no! was i, and am i still, pleased with them? fuck yes! especially because if every phannie were to have a ‘niche’ in what phandom stuff they like to indulge in, phil being a fond guy is definitely mine. :’)
5. first impressions (gifset)
for what is probably one of my favourite gaming vids of theirs ever, my second of two gifsets i’ve done so far - i would have done more but i have legit no idea what i’m doing wrong that makes them so low-definition. each gif was also more saturated than the one before, which i did not intend. oh well, i am not a good gifmaker and i own it! (but send me all your tutorials please, i need ‘em!)
overall?
the reason i only included two fics in this list is because they are my only two so far. i want to do a lot more fic-posting - you will not believe the number of wips i have in my fic GD folder right now. my 2019 has been absolutely chaotic which is why i haven’t posted much, in many ways i’m surprised i’ve got anything done at all lol. but it’s been a good year for me, definitely a brilliant one for the overall phandom. may 2020 be kind to us all. happy new year!
i am so sorry if i miss anyone, it’s just off the top of my head that i am tagging: @karcathy @elisethephangirl @phlanetary @toxicnebulaae-deactivated201912 @imdyingriprip @autumn-in-phandom @calvinahobbes @itsaravetree @throwing-roses-into-the-abyss @owodnp @incognitovampiregoblin

Part of The Untamed - EXO Wolf Universe
Genre: Supernatural, Wolf Au
Pairing: Chanyeol x Reader
Summary: It had been just you and your brother for the longest time and that’s how you liked it. Politics and lies had drove you away from your home five years ago and that has since left a bitter taste in your mouth. While exploring the latest town you’d settled in, you met Chanyeol. He was everything you didn’t want: goofy, happy-go-lucky… a wolf. Mate pull or not, you were going to try everything you could avoid him while keeping the secret from your brother. But how long would you be able to fight? Will Chanyeol be able to pull you back into the world you swore you would never enter again?
Part: 1 I 2 I 3 I 4 I 5 I 6 I 7 I 8 I 9 I 10 I 11 I 12 I 13 I 14 I Final
**
Flopping down on the finally cleared off couch, you let out a hefty sigh. When your brother first suggested moving to this town, you were skeptical. A college town that was surrounded by woods. You were sure that he would get discovered, accidentally changing around a party of students or some other avoidable event. But he insisted on this place and since you swore to stay by his side… well, you didn’t really have a choice.
Unpacking was certainly the worst part of moving. The fact that you were the kind of person that once you started you couldn’t really stop just made it worse. However, you were finally done after doing nothing else since breakfast thanks to zero help from your big bro.
Speaking of the devil, Lon came waltzing in the front door, whistling to himself.
“Well, now this place looks like home!” he cheered.
You glared at him. “Yeah, no thanks to you.”
He blew you off, heading into the kitchen and going straight for the freshly stocked fridge. Opening the door and letting the cold air out, he just stood there, studying the shelves like he was practicing for the Bar Exam.
Pushing yourself up off the couch, you came up behind him, already in tune with whatever he was thinking. “I’m not cooking you dinner, too.”
He whined, “But your food is so good. And you know how I am in the kitchen.”
“Yeah… useless.” Sometimes, you really had to make yourself remember that he was nearly two years older than you.
Growing up, you were always looking after him. Especially since he used to be so tiny. The other boys in the pack would pick on him, bully him to no end. Well, when you all were still a part of a pack.
No. Nope. You didn’t go down that road. You no longer dealt with wolf business and that was how you liked it.
“I guess I’ll just have a sandwich then,” Lon grumbled.
You rolled your eyes. “Don’t you mean six sandwiches?”
“I take offense to that,” he scoffed.
You crossed your arms as he turned to face you, letting the fridge door close with a thud. “It was meant to be offensive, idiot.”
Lon pounced, putting you in a loose chokehold before you could get away. Stupid jerk. You fought against his hold, grunting as you tried to gain some sort of leverage. You didn’t get any.
“Say you’re sorry and I’ll let go,” Lon mocked.
What were you, five?
“Not a chance,” you grunted stubbornly. Eventually, he’d let go. Right?
“I’m stronger, sis,” he laughed. “Always have been, always will.”
Irritated, you took the low road and elbowed him in the stomach. He groaned, his hold loosening enough for you to escape.
“Cheater,” he huffed.
Grabbing your leather jacket off the back of the couch, you saluted him. “We each have our ways. I’ll be back in a bit.”
“Where are you going?” Lon jutted out his bottom lip. Ugh. You hated it when he pouted. Someday he’d learn that he wasn’t a cute puppy anymore.
“Out,” you answered simply before closing the door behind you. He was the one who chose this place, it was only justifiable that you got to explore it on your own as well.
It was well into the new semester. The air was starting to warm up as spring approached. College students were bucking down for their midterms, but that didn’t stop most of them from going out on a Friday night.
A small art festival was taking place in the downtown area so you decided to check that out. It was held in a large open area where dozens of white tents were set up in rows for the artists to display their works. Some had potter up for sale, other’s jewelry while most stuck to classic paintings and sketches.
Plenty of people were milling about, weaving in and out of the tents with treats in their hands from the food trucks parked nearby. You could easily hang around without attracting too much attention, blending in and not being noticed. Not that you actually looked like an artsy person with your worn leather jacket and ratted black jeans with massive holes in the knees. You made a note to yourself to remind your brother that your converse would need replacing soon.
A particular tent decorated in black and white and sepia photos of old ruins and worn objects caught your eye. You moseyed on over to it, squeezing around a small group of girls that were huddled around the entrance. Taking your time, you flipped through the photos that were housed in black cardboard frames to keep them from bending.
You were absolutely fascinated. More colorful pictures were hidden behind the grainy ones that originally caught your eyes. Beautiful blues and greens that made up the northern lights. Golden sand that contrasted against the almost-white blue sky. Waterfalls and hot springs. But your absolute favorites were pictures the photographer had somehow gotten inside the Chernobyl disaster area.
There were crumbled up books, decaying buildings, and even an old typewriter. The ones that really drew you in, though, were the many pianos that were falling apart. Dust and cobwebs covered the chipping wood. Many had missing keys and their rusting stings inside were exposed for the world to see. The last one you came to had fallen onto its back, the pieces still left barely holding together.
You felt a lot like those pianos. A shell of your former self. Where there used to be a once happy and carefree little girl who wore dresses and got along with other kids, now there was only a bitter woman who preferred to left alone. You were crumbling away inside with no desire to tape the pieces back together.
“See anything you like?”
Glancing up, you rolled your eyes as you pushed the stack of photos with your index finger back to their original position, leaning away from you for the next person to sort through.
A fairly tall boy with blonde hair and tanned skin was holding himself up against the table of boxes that housed the artist’s work in a manner that he probably thought was suave and cool.
“Not interested,” you deadpanned. Stuffing your hands in your pockets, you walked around him and away from the breathtaking pictures. It’s not like you had extra money to buy them anyway.
“Now that’s not very nice.” The guy had long legs and so he caught up to you in less than two strides.
“Do I look like I do nice?” you snapped. Don’t look at him. Don’t look at him.
In your peripheral, you saw him rake his eyes up and down. “I’d say you look nice. A few rough edges, maybe, but I think I could smooth them out.”
You lost it. Whirling on him, you put up your wall and riled up your tough girl act.
“Listen,” you growled. “I. Am not. Interested. So go chase a short skirt that might actually care about your pathetic attempts at flirting.”
With a set jaw, he opened his mouth to-
“Tao!”
He clamped his mouth shut tight and his eyes flashed yellow, just for a second.
Shit. You pissed off a wolf. Your brother hadn’t mentioned that there were other wolves here. He probably didn’t even know. The idiot.
Two other tall wolves stood about ten feet away. The one in front of you - Tao - whined before throwing you a glare and running off to join his pack members. The tallest one with a very authoritative aura to him grabbed Tao by his neck and started dragging him away. Tao let out a few cries of pain, but that didn’t deter his brother.
Just before you could go about your business, the second wolf caught your eye. He had a soft face outlined by light brown hair and ears that stuck out a bit. Dark, contrasting brown eyes stared at you in fascination. His eyebrows were pulled together in confusion. An uncomfortable feeling settling in your stomach, you backed up a few steps before turning around and inserting yourself into the crowd that was moving in the opposite direction of the wolf.
You decided it was time for you to head back home and you left the art festival and walked along the empty sidewalks of the business district.
To no one’s surprise, your brother was sprawled out on the couch, munching away at sandwich number who knows what. As soon as the door was shut behind you, you marched up to the couch and slapped your brother upside the head.
“Ow!” he whined through a mouth full of food. “What was that?”
“Did you even do any sort of freaking research before choosing this place?” you yelled.
Tossing the sandwich down on the coffee table, your brother sat up. “Of course I did! Do you remember what happened last time?”
Of course you did. The idiot didn’t realize that a particularly nasty pack had already settled in the area a few months back. Your brother had needed several days to heal up after that encounter while you searched desperately to find anywhere else to live that wasn’t there. The worst part was that you actually liked the area.
“Why the hell do you think I’m asking?” As much as you loved your brother, he could be a real idiot sometimes. “Did you happen to miss the wolves that already live here?”
Lon shook his head. “No, I know they’re here.”
You blinked. Several times. “Excuse me?”
“I met one of them when I was scouting the place out,” he elaborated. “I was bouncing around the different auto shops, seeing anyone had any openings. I came across a new shop that was looking for hire. The owner spotted what I was right away. He doesn’t care. It’s his pack that claims this territory, but as long as we don’t cross them, we’re fine.”
Okay with your brother’s presence or not, you were not satisfied or comforted by his explanation Or the fact that he left that important detail out. “And you didn’t think that maybe I should know about this?”
“Nope.” God, he even did the lip pop on the “p” that you hated so much. “I knew you want to find a different place and I like it here. I start at the shop tomorrow and we already signed a six month lease on the place. So chill out.”
He was absolutely correct. You would have fought tooth and nail to go somewhere else. You didn’t trust wolves. After the shit the pack pulled against your family… well, let’s just say that if your brother didn’t turn into a big hairy dog every once in a while, then you would have made sure to extinct that part of your life forever. Even so, you did a pretty good job of avoiding the supernatural.
“Fine,” you grumbled. Walking around him, you snatched up his sandwich before heading down the hall to your room.”
“Hey!” Lon called after you.
Officially claiming the sandwich as your own, you took a large bite out of the corner. “You’ve had enough!”
**
Honestly, you should probably get a job. It might cure this boredom you had. But your brother insisted on being the only breadwinner in the family and didn’t really agree with you finding full time work as well.
You could always take classes. The college might actually take you. You had decent grades in high school. Not honor society worthy, but still not bad. You’d taken some college courses in the past after you first graduated, but the idea of staying in a lecture hall for over an hour while some old guy yapped away like what he was saying was actually important wasn’t how you prefered to spend your time.
With no other appealing tasks, you once again set out in randomly walking around the city. Out of the seven days you’d been settled in this place, this was about the fourth time you’d spent it this way. Each time, you hit a different area, memorizing the street names and buildings located there but always avoided the college. According to your brother, most of the pack was enrolled at the university and you didn’t feel like having another run-in with any of them. Lon hadn’t really met of them either, but he wasn’t too worried. His boss apparently was of the higher ups of the pack and treated him well.
Thinking about your brother made you realize that you hadn’t gone to visit him at work yet. While you knew where the shop was located approximately and what it was called, you hadn’t physically been there yet. You decided that could cure an hour or so and you brought up the shop on your phone, following the map until you were outside the entrance.
There was a car in each of the three slots of the garage with a few mechanics milling about. You shifted back and forth on your feet while your eyes searched for your brother. You had the right shop, didn’t you?
“Can I help you?”
The really tall wolf from the night at the festival walked up to you, wiping his hands with an already dirty rag.
“Um,” you scratched the side of your neck. “I’m looking for Lon?”
A look of epiphany lit up the wolf’s eyes. “Ah. you must be the little sister.” He held out his hand. “I’m Kris.”
Hesitantly, you took his hand, shaking it politely. “(y/n).”
“It’s nice to meet you,” Kris smiled. He motioned with his head, “Follow me. Lon’s under a car right now.”
Oh. That explained why you didn’t seem him. You followed Kris to the car all the way to the end of the garage. Lon was lying on a shop roller on the floor underneath a blue convertible. Kris hit his palm against the door twice.
“Hey, Lon, you’ve got a visitor.”
Your brother pushed himself out from under the car. “(y/n)? What are you doing here?”
You shrugged. “I was bored.”
Lon grunted as he got to his feet. “Sorry, Kris.”
Kris waved it away. “Don’t worry about it. Family’s important. Besides, the owner won’t be picking up until tomorrow. No rush.” He looked at you and nodded. “It was nice to meet you.”
You gave him a slightly forced smiled. You couldn’t help it. Too many years spent being weary of other wolves. “You, too.”
Now just the two of you, Lon sighed, shaking his head at you. “Did you at least bring me lunch?”
“No,” you scoffed. “I was just walking around, figured I’d kill some time here, see what you do with your day.” You leaned against the car, stuffing your hands in your pockets.
Like the annoying brother he was, Lon pulled the beanie from your head and then tugged on your jacket. “Don’t scratch the car. I’ll have to pay for that.”
Rolling your eyes, you swiped your hat back and stuffed it in your pocket before straightening up. “Yeah, right. You could fix a small scratch in your sleep without spending a dime.”
Lon had always loved tinkering with cars ever since he was kid. He’d go on and on about cylinders and nitro gas and racer movies. A permanent smell of grease followed him everywhere. Your dad always encouraged it, buying him old clunkers that Lon would spend hours pulling apart and putting back together again. You’d usually hang out with him in the garage doing your homework or just sitting on the floor, watching him. The garage was where he was happiest and seeing your brother happy made you content.
That was always the height of your emotions: contentment. You weren’t exactly sure what “happy” was anymore. That was a feeling you hadn’t had for a very long time. Neutral was where you stayed most of the time, teetering on angry. Angry at the old pack, angry at your dad, angry at the world. Usually, you were able to stamp it down. Anger was useless when you had nowhere to direct it.
“Still,” Lon scolded, flicking your forehead, “don’t lean on the car.”
Looking around the shop, you watched as the mechanics as joked around and teased each other. Their laughs echoed off the walls and made the atmosphere an enjoyable one.
“Do you like it here?” you asked.
With a big smile, he nodded. “Yeah. I like it a lot. Kris is a good man to work for. And I don’t have to hide what I am.”
You frowned. “Are the others-”
“Nah,” he didn’t even let you finish. “Just Kris knows. But that means I don’t have to hide it from him if… something were to happen.”
You didn’t exactly want to think about what could happen if your brother was to accidentally lose his temper.
“That’s good.”
“Kris!”
Your head snapped around to the voice that had called for the shop owner.
Ugh.
It was the brown haired wolf from the festival. Tao wasn’t with him, thankfully. This time, a different sandy haired boy was with him along with a literal incarnation of a puppy. So much for no more running into them. Weren’t they supposed to be in school?
Kris looked up from the engine he was currently looking at. “Hey, guys! What’s up?”
You turned back to your brother. “I’m going to go ahead go. I’ll see you at home.”
“Okay!” Lon threw an arm over your shoulder, pulling in so he could plant a kiss on the top of your head. You shoved him away, trying to feign annoyance, but it didn’t work. You loved affection from your brother.
Now the trick was to sneak out of the garage without being noticed. You were almost in the clear, taking quick but quiet steps. The sidewalk outside was almost in your reach….
“Hey, wait!”
You didn’t wait. Your pace quickened, hoping that your obvious determination to not stop would deter his chase. Unfortunately, not.
“Hey!” The wolf grabbed your arm and brought you to a stop before spinning you around to face him.
“What?” you growled.
“I’m Chanyeol,” he blurted.
You raised an eyebrow. “So?”
As hard as it was, you tried not to focus on his face. Cute boys weren’t your type at all. Especially cute boys that didn’t understand that you obviously didn’t want to be bothered. One would think that after his friend being shot down last week, the hint would be painted on a billboard sign that you weren’t interested.
But then you really met his eyes.
Your heart was doing something funny. It was speeding up and not in the usual flight or fight way that you were used to. A smile grew on Chanyeol’s face. It was a little lopsided as it crinkled the sides of his eyes. It just made your heart jump even more.
No. Hell no.
“What’s your name?” he asked softly.
“Not a chance.”
You wretched your arm out of his grasp and took off. As fast as your feet could carry you, you raced back to your apartment, not stopping until you were safe within its walls. Collapsing against the door, you slid down to the floor, releasing a sound that was a mix of a groan and a whine the whole way.
This was so not happening to you. It wasn’t going to happen to you. Not on your watch.
Taking off your jacket, you rolled it up into a ball until your noticed your pockets were empty. Searching all around you and even risking being found to look outside your apartment, you desperately wanted to find your purple beanie. It was your favorite and it was nowhere to be found.
Great. Just freaking great.
One week here and you hated this place already. Hopefully, you dropped it back at the shop and your brother was able to pick it up. If not - you didn’t want to think about the possible alternative. From now on, you were going to have to become a recluse. And you had make sure that your brother never found out.

The Joker x Reader - “The Work Wife” Part 3
You’ve been working for The Joker for the past 10 years: you speak and act for him and no matter the circumstances, Y/N is always there to take care of everything he needs.  The King of Gotham might not be married, yet he has a perfect partner: his work wife.
Tumblr media
Part 1      Part 2     (Part 3 as voted HERE)    Part 4     Part 5
5 months later
“Are you just gonna sit there the whole time?” The Joker splashes the water in the Jacuzzi while you look outside, not even hearing his words. “Hey, I’m talking to you!”
“Oh, I’m watching everything to make sure it’s safe,” you finally pay attention and analyze the surrounding buildings from behind the smoky windows belonging to the second floor of “Serenity Day SPA”; it’s one of the businesses J owns, primarily operated for money laundering.  The rooms upstairs are never used by anybody else except him: he seldom visits and actually uses the amenities since the place is very luxurious.
“We have 15 men with us, I think we’re OK. Come on, lose the suit and relax,” The King of Gotham requests your presence in the hot tub because you seem absent minded today.
“I’m good,” you mumble and continue to search for any signs of suspicious activity out there even if so far nothing seems out of the ordinary.
“You know how much I hate to extend my invitations twice,” he watches you take a deep breath and gaze his way.
“I don’t have anything to wear,” you come up with the easy excuse and J gestures towards the variety of dressers containing bathing suits, swimming shorts, towels and fuzzy robes.
“Use theirs!”
“Ughh,” the exasperation reaches his ears and it’s not approved.
“Maybe one of these days you could just, you know, drop the attitude?! Only a mere suggestion; don’t lemme stop you from annoying me!” The Joker growls as you choose a random attire and start changing behind the panel as fast as you can, hoping he will shut up.
“Don’t lemme stop you from annoying me” speech is usually between 10--15 minutes long and you are certainly lacking any eagerness to put up with it.
“Why do I have to get in there?” you protest his orders and emerge into a floral bikini bottom with the matching bra.
“Because,” J huffs and completely lowers himself in the bubbly water for a few seconds, then gazes your way. “I must say Y/N, you look decent for a fossil.”
“I’m not a fossil!”
“You turned 36 last month. Basically ancient for my scaling system,” J taunts and smooths his wet hair, thinking that the usual extra feistiness is not present within his work wife today. You step in the Jacuzzi, half afloat until you reach his side.
“Your scaling system sucks, that’s why you don’t have a steady girlfriend,” you lift one of your eyebrows in order to underline the accurate reality.
“I only need company that takes care of my needs for the night; you take care of the rest so I’m fine,” he pauses and waits for the sour remarks to continue but they don’t.
You’re awfully quiet, definitely preoccupied by more important matters than the usual dispute he’s searching for.
“What’s the matter?” J elbows a distracted Y/N.
“Today…” and your voice cracks,” today is Kai’s birthday.”
That’s why she’s like this, he thinks and moves closer to you.
“Wow, the first snowflakes,” you sadly smile and change the subject because you feel you’re suffocating.
“Yeah, I like winter,” he adds on the topic in his usual way of dealing with things. “Much easier to get rid of dead bodies.”
“So charming,” you candidly reprimand. “That’s why women are flocking from all sides; one better than the other.”
“Precisely,” the insolent Joker is glad you’re getting absorbed into his little game; it kind of feels a major part of his daily life is missing if you two don’t clash and he’s aware he has to put in extra work today in order to obtain the desired outcome.
“Please enlighten me so I can prove a point:  when is the last time you went on a date?” you turn towards him, interested in what he has to say.
“Ummm… three nights ago,” J immediately replies.
“One night stand is not a date! As usually, I had to get rid of her in the morning and I’m getting tired of taking out the trash,” you scoff, irritated. “You should have kept the girlfriend you had two years ago; she wasn’t bad.”
“I got bored,” he dismisses your suggestion and stretches his legs under water while you have more to include on top of the earlier statement:
“It’s exciting to see you’re satisfied with bimbos that think you have a stamp collection to show them at the penthouse or drunken ones that you marry on a whim at the sham drive-thru chapels around town.”
“Yes, it is exciting indeed,” The Joker winks and Y/N is done with his crap.
“You know what J ?!!”
Oh boy, here she goes! J grins because he’s getting what he wanted:
“You know what J ”speech is usually between 8--14 minutes long and by far his favorite; you usually blur out a list of judgments about his behavior that you don’t agree with and it falls on deaf ears, yet it’s worth it.
“Mister J,” Frost suddenly knocks at the opened door. “Sorry to interrupt but the weather forecast is showing an imminent snow storm about to hit Gotham in less than 3 hours. Traffic will be hectic since everyone would want to finish what they have to do before roads are closed. Would you like to leave now in order to avoid that?”
The Clown Prince of Crime smacks his lips, debating:
“I suppose so,” then addresses you: “Hold that thought, Y/N! You know how much I love to hear your opinions,” the sarcastic smirk makes you shake your head in annoyance. “I guess is better if we bail than having to deal with the craziness on the streets. Tell the crew we’re out of here in 10!”
“Yes sir!”  Frost complies and you discern the shouted instructions on his way downstairs.
“Right when I was getting comfortable,” J sighs and sinks under the fizzy water one last time while you’re already getting out of the Jacuzzi.
“You can continue at the Penthouse,” you remind the King of Gotham he actually has the same hot tub at home.
“I guess I can,” the grouchy voice mumbles.
The Joker watches as you dry yourself with a towel, his eyes lingering on the only tattoo you have: the Japanese kanji rows inked on your back containing the phrase you’ve been using for years as an inside joke.
He stalls leaving the steamy ambience for a few more seconds before finally abandoning his temporary oasis.
You switch back to your black suit behind the bamboo panel and come out to help him finish up. The white, furry winter coat is placed on his shoulders while J elects to modify the plan:
“Y/N, I want to spend some time at my cabin instead of returning to the Penthouse.”
“Are you sure?” you start walking beside him, surprised at his choice. “With the snow storm you’ll be trapped there for days.”
“It’s fine; I’ll have you to keep me company,” J brushes off any projects you might have like he always does.
“I rather stay at my apartment.”
“No, you’re coming.”
“Seriously J, I don’t want to be dragged in the middle of nowhere. I like that place in the summer and that’s pretty much it,” you try to make him forsake his ideas and pay attention to the stairs you’re both descending.
“I’ll let you know when I give a damn,” The Joker scoffs, signaling some of the men waiting along for his passing to follow.
The door leading towards the secluded parking lot on the north side of the building is already opened and you walk outside, mad he doesn’t care you’re not in the mood to visit that accursed cottage during the crazy weather that will soon hit the area.
Two henchmen are already waiting by their cars and you slowly blink for a few seconds, feeling the snowflakes melting on your face. The faint sound of the bullet shrieks by your ear and you instinctively turn towards J, his eyes already looking down at the fresh wound that’s beginning to stain the white coat.
“What the..?!” he touches the blood in disbelief, suddenly out of breath. You are quick to push him against the nearest SUV, screaming at the others:
“Sniper!!! Get down!”
The goons already outside scatter behind the cars in the parking lot and you help The Joker sit on the ground and press on the oozing injury, the red spot exponentially growing each time he forcefully inhales.
“Shit…” he moans and you gesture at the men that didn’t make it out of the building, including Frost.
“Stay inside! There’s a sniper!!”
“What do we do?” Jonny yells and you shout back:
“Everybody regroup inside!! Stay low and sneak out through the other side of the property! Go in groups of 3 and sweep the surrounding places, maybe we can catch whoever did this! Take the rest of the team and call for reinforcements!”
“You need help?” Frost peeks from behind the curtains, ready to aid if required.
“I’m OK, I don’t need an escort!”
You open the car door and help The Joker crawl in the back seat; he’s wheezing louder and louder due to the painful lesion.
“Keep pressure on it!” you gather his coat around the wound as much as you can, this way it soaks up the blood. “I’ll take you to the doctor; just hang in there, alright?” an apparent composed Y/N creeps on the driver’s side, twisting the keys in the contact.
“It fucking hurts,” J groans and his acknowledgment makes your heart beat faster:
The Joker has a high tolerance for pain so if he says that it hurts, it means the discomfort is beyond what a normal person would be able to tolerate.
“Hang tight!” you begin to drive, keeping close to the concrete wall enclosing the parking lot, watching him through the rear view mirror. “I’ll take the back streets,” you mumble and immediately accelerate, taking a sharp turn once the protection of the wall is over. The tires screech under the abrupt impact and you speed towards Madison Avenue, having to distance yourselves from the shooting range as soon as possible.
“How are you doing?” you gaze at him and the only answer is a growl.
The Joker’s teeth are clenched together; he couldn’t say a word even if he’d wanted to.
You nervously squeeze the steering wheel, paying attention to the road again.
“I think I can make it there under 40 minutes,” the affirmation makes him shiver: the pain is becoming so unbearable he feels he’s going to pass out.
Another turn on Coldwell Boulevard and the last thing J hears prior to losing consciousness is Y/N’s warning:
“Hey, don’t fall asleep!”
**************
The Joker gradually opens his eyes, trying to adjust to reality. You’re sleeping in the recliner close to his bed and the venue seems familiar: it’s the same private clinic you were taken after the unfortunate events that left such a deep scar on your cheek. He’s groggy and a bit confused, a typical secondary side effect of all the medications present in his body.
“Nurse…” J whispers and has to gather his strength to say it louder since you didn’t hear him. “Nurse! Wake up!”
This time the exhausted Y/N promptly snaps out of her troubled dreams, gasping when she realizes The King of Gotham is glaring her way.
“You’re awake,” you jump out of the recliner and move close to him, so happy to see he’s out of danger you actually smile.
A rare occurrence these days.
“Why are you wearing scrubs?” J licks his lips and you reach for the cup of iced water on the cupboard, offering some to the patient.
“We’ve been here for 2 days: it’s easier to blend in, just in case,” you explain while waiting for him to finish drinking.
“What’s the verdict?” he taps his fingers on the pillow, seeking your company for the requested briefing. You lie down next to him and relay the main points to the weakened Joker:
“By the time we arrived, you’ve already lost a lot of blood. You had a clean wound: the bullet went right through; almost pierced your kidney, only half an inch away from disaster. They couldn’t stop the bleeding and I was scared you’re not going to make it,” you gulp and touch his face, upset it was such a close call.
“Why? Were you afraid you’ll be unemployed?”
“Basically. You pay well.”
“True,” J utters. “Do we know who did it?”
You remove your hand, the immediate change in attitude making him aware you’re displeased.
“So we do know,” he figures, wondering why you look at him like that.
“Yes.”
Perfect silence; you are flustered, that’s for sure.
“Well?” J yawns, tired and drained.
“Do you remember your last flame? The one I got rid of 5 days ago?”
No answer. Because he can kind of tell where this is heading.
“Apparently, she didn’t like that you threw her away the next morning so she did something about it. Thank God she can’t aim that well, I’m sure she tried for the head.”
J is speechless since he was expecting a different outcome.
“The Great Joker, taking down by one of his one night stands. How stupid is that?!” you hiss and try to calm down the urge to strangle him.
“That is quite stupid, my reputation would be ruined,” he tries to joke since he knows he’s going to hear about it forever. “Is it fair to assume she’s not around anymore?”
“I made sure,” you frown, scooting closer to him again. “If you were planning to sleep with her again, she’s not available.”
He grabs your waist, loving the bitter expression written all over your being.
“Any other news?” he changes the subject, delighted you’re so worked up.
You cut him some slack for the moment, sharing your observations:
“I think one of the nurses likes you. She keeps on lifting your hospital gown, checking out the area.”
“Probably to see if I need my bandages changed,” J grins, satisfied with the little confession.
“Or maybe checking out your components,” you honestly reply.
“Components!” he chuckles and regrets it the next second: the sore wound is definitely there.
The door opens and you grumble in a low voice:
“That’s her, that’s the nurse.”
“Quickly, fix my hair,” The Joker demands and you comb the green locks with the tip of your fingers. “How do I look?”
“Like crap,” you sigh, unable to repair too much due to the present misfortune.
“Dammit,” he completely covers the both of you with the sheet, shielding the intimacy of the discussion from any prying ears.
“Miss Y/N, it’s not safe to be this close to a recovering patient with a raw injury. There’s the risk of infection. Could you please go back to your recliner?” the woman requests out of concern for the medical staff’s own safety: she knows that if something happens to The Clown Prince of Crime while under their care, they will pay for the consequences.
“Make me!” you sneer from under the covers, irritated with her plea.
“Yeah, make her!” J growls also and it’s a red flag for the nurse to leave before one of you snaps. The care giver leaves some medications on the cabinet, planning to return later.
“Try not to contaminate me,” he pouts and you roll your eyes. “I already sacrificed a lady’s interest in me by siding with the competition.”
“You’re so full of it,” you kick his knee, careful not to touch the stitched laceration.
He has no clue how much it terrified you that he almost died on Kai’s birthday; it would have been unbearable to think each year at the same date about two men you care about no longer around.
*************
After 3 weeks
The Joker was released from the clinic yesterday and went straight to the cabin in the Willow Woods, hauling a vexed work wife with him against her will. You sure detest the place in the winter time; there are days it snows so much you can’t even walk to the shed to restart the generator. But he said the fresh air will make his recovery a piece of cake and for once you didn’t argue with the bullshit reason.
You are so worn out after taking care of J 24/7 that the tempest going on outside doesn’t bother you. Y/N dozed off one hour ago and the strong wind sweeping the wilderness slams branches, snow and frozen leaves against the windows.
A strand of your hair is being tugged by the crabby King of Gotham; he has insomnia and of course he sneaked into your bedroom after drinking 2 cups of chamomile tea that did absolutely nothing.
“Y/N, are you awake?”
You barely make eye contact, the brain fuzzy from all the restlessness you dealt with in the past weeks.
“My back is stiff,” The Joker indirectly implies a massage would be more than welcomed.“Did you hear me?” he pokes your shoulder when you nap again.
“Why won’t you let me rest?” you finally blur out, wishing you were at your apartment and not in the boonies at the cottage you can’t stand.
“I can’t work out for a while and my bones are cracking every move I make. Plus, I can’t sleep because your dumb tea didn’t work. Are you gonna do anything about it or not?!” he loses patience describing his hardships to the woman that should know all about them.
“Don’t nag me!” the unexpected response containing what J usually throws at you makes him search his mind for a sour admonishment.
In the meantime, you get on your knees and slap his side so he can turn face down, beginning to rub his back along the dragon tattoo since he won’t quit bugging you.
“That feels awesome,” he grunts when your hands work around the tight muscles keeping him up at this hour of the night.
“Jesus, one knot after the other!” you blur out frustrated, trying to relax the stubborn tissue under his skin.
“Told you I‘m stiff; I wasn’t lying. Keep going,” he motivates the grumpy Y/N. “Aren’t you happy that you still have a boss to take care of?”
He senses your fingers stopping, then restarting and something that sounds like sniffling.
“Are you crying?” the muffled question arises from under the pillows.
You wipe your eyes with the sleeve of your fleece pajamas, watching the flames in the fireplace crackling in the darkness. The Joker reaches his left hand backwards and grabs yours, pulling you next to him again. There’s no resistance from your part and his face moves on top of the cushions again.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing…” you bite your cheek and refuse to say more on the topic.
You don’t really have to though; The Clown Prince of Crime is neither stupid or blind.
“I’m still here old girl,” he emphasizes due to his twisted desire to get you out of your misery while still being a jerk.
“I’m not old,” you defend your 36 years of existence like you always do.
“According to my standards you are,” the silver teeth maliciously glisten 2 inches away from Y/N’s lips.
“Your standards are pure crap,” you sulk and he wraps your arms around his neck, compromising at last:
“Probably…” and your sudden kiss takes him by surprise and in the same time it doesn’t.
That’s new, The Joker thinks and enjoys the opportunity of making out with the feisty Y/N that clings to him so tight he cannot move.
“I think I’m still out of commission,” he purrs in between kisses and you couldn’t care less.
“That’s fine,” you smile and give him a second to catch his breath.
“Wait…Wait…” J carefully debates. “Ummm…On the brighter side, I believe we might be in luck but you’ll have to do the hard work giving my present situation.”
“That’s fine too,” you accept his proposal and lean over to whisper:
“Don’t worry, I’ll be nice.”
**************
7 months later
“Did you get what I asked for?” The Joker barks at the smuggler that’s taking too long searching the metal crates from the last shipment received yesterday.
“Yes, Mister Joker, just one moment. I know it’s in here, I saw it myself.”
“I don’t have a moment!” the impatient King of Gotham retaliates and the dealer picks up the pace, relieved to finally discover the item buried inside the box.
“Here you go Mister Joker,” something resembling a booklet is being handed to J.
The opulent wedding ring beaded with purple and green diamonds stands out on The Joker’s finger and the smuggler’s eyes get big.
“Oh, you got married Mister Joker?!”
“Yeah, two days ago,” he gets ready to bail since he’s late for his own honeymoon trip to Las Vegas.
“Congratulations!” the guy has nothing better to do than offer his best wishes.
“Why??” J’s mood switches for the worse. “You think I got a good bargain out of it?! I didn’t !! She’s been nagging me for 11 years; I just made it official !”
“I’m sorry Mister Joker,” another wrong reply escapes the dealer’s lips.
“Why are you sorry, hm?” the pissed Prince of Crime raises his voice. “You think I can’t handle my own wife?!”
You are waiting for J next to your car, playing with the bottom of your short summer dress. There was certainly a commotion going on until a few moments ago when the noises stopped; you’re about to check on it but J is coming out of the building, brushing pieces of glass off his clothes.
“What happened?” you inquire.
“I got you a present,” he avoids replying and gives you the booklet.
“What is this?” you open it, confused. Nothing but a bunch of stamps neatly organized inside.
“A stamp collection, Y/N! You always complained that when I brought girls at the Penthouse I said I have a stamp collection to show them when in the matter of fact I didn’t. So I fixed the issue: these are actual stamps I can show them; very valuable: I paid one hundred thousand dollars!” he boasts in front of an annoyed Mrs. Joker.
“No girls, no stamps!” you flip the expensive collection straight into the trash can near you.
“Wha’… What are you doing?!”
“No girls, no stamps!” you repeat, urging him to get in the vehicle.
“How dare you?!“ he has an outburst that you don’t pay attention to. “You’re fired!”
“No I’m not,” you calmly go around the car since you’re the designated driver for the vacation. “Come on, get in,” you reach from the driver’s side to open the other door for him. ”Traffic will be horrible across the Bridge of Angels. We have to leave,” you pat the passenger’s seat and J is hesitating. “You really don’t need that stamp collection; you have me.”
“Pfft,” he huffs and enters the car, not wanting to admit to himself that his work wife is right.
Actually work wife and wife.
No matter what anyone says, now there’s finally no difference.

Sailor Moon The Super Live Report - August 31st (first performance, heart team)
Place: Aiia Theatre Placement: Row 10, Seat 42 (middle, far right)
First, I swore I wasn’t going to buy merch and am SO glad they had so little on offer ;; I bought the pamphlet (which is basically a double sided poster, one of the main image and the other side being info with pics of the different teams) and the light stick.
Second, the show isn’t sold out. Sure, it started a little early (7pm) but it was a Friday night and opening night of a mega popular franchise? Strange for it not to have been sold out, especially since the theatre isn’t that big. (For reference, I was in row 10, seat 42, and the seat next to me was empty, as were others around me). There have been a lot of events and new merch recently though, so I can understand.
They’re also still selling tickets at the door, and are giving out freebies. Little bookmark things of the Inner Senshi with manga art (one of each Senshi, randomly given). They’re quite nice! Another enticement is different events happening after each performance. On opening night they randomly selected about twenty people to have photos with the cast. There is also a high five event on other nights, and it looks like they give out goods on other nights.
The show is VERY dialogue light. As in, there is maybe five minutes worth of dialogue the entire show (not including the live performance part). And that’s incredibly generous. This is understandable – this show is only doing two showings in France, so the effort to translate would be a lot. It’s not cost effective. The audience also more than likely knows the story. The story is the first arc, hugely condensed. I think it worked quite well without a whole lot of dialogue. The cast had to work that much harder on facial expressions and their body language to make up for not speaking.
The show is 80 minutes long. There is no interval. After the play part, there is a song part.
Now, onto the show!
We start off with Queen Beryl and her minions. She’s controlling them and their dancing. Like, SeraMyu is great and I love it, but there is still part of it that’s stuck in years gone by. This is very modern. I don’t really know or care who Takahiro is, but he did a good job! The music and dance throughout the performance is really good! It’s very modern. Perhaps because it was opening night, sometimes the music felt too loud. Not in a good way, but in a it sometimes makes the cast hard to hear way.
Anyway, they’re dancing, kinda like cool zombies? The scenery changes on a screen behind them, showing the battle for earth. Kunzite appears and shows off his sword before taking command of the troops. Unfortunately, the sword was almost dropped… We see a screen of Usagi running – it’s kinda clumsy and ugly, but it reminds me of the live action show, which I’m very fond of, so I can’t be too harsh on it. Beryl then attacks this screen, and we come to earth, present time.
Usagi yells about being late and runs through the audience. Her entrance is GORGEOUS! Why? She’s got glitter in her school bag, so as she runs, glitter is flying everywhere. It’s super shojou and anime. Very simple and cheap, but literally everyone was smiling. I feel bad for the staff who had to clean it up though haha
She stumbles on stage and drops her brooch, and keeps going. Mamoru picks it up, teases her and as she grabs it, they start to remember their old lives. Of course, that’s weird and Usagi’s late, so she grabs her brooch and goes. They part, but then stop, turn to look at each other, and are about to go back to each other when the music starts and sends them on their way. An instrumental version of Moonlight Densetsu plays. As it plays, it shows the characters and gives their names – interestingly, the names are Romanised instead of being in katakana, and the images shown are manga panels. It makes sense not to use the live images, as there are three teams, but I wonder why they choose manga over anime. I honestly think it was a great choice though.
We get a brief scene of Sailor Moon fighting a monster. She’s dodging and crying, but she also fights back. She also cheers for herself when she gets a good hit in, which is super cute. Makes her a very human character. Tuxedo Mask does save her and gives her a chance to fight back, and she runs off after him.
It’s time for school! Miss Haruna makes her appearance~ Honestly her look is iconic (the pink suit) and I love that they brought her back. The students do a dance as they start their daily routine and test results are returned. It’s pretty cute, though too long for me to care about. Usagi rushes in, gets scolded, realises she doesn’t have her textbook, is scolded again, isn’t able to share with her friends, steals Haruna’s book, and joins in on the dance while doing all of this.
Of course, things are going fine until everyone is suddenly infected with Dark Energy (a la Kunzite lurking in the corner). Cue zombie dancing again. This, again, went on slightly too long. It wasn’t particularly good, and the costumes were a little tacky – essentially the stage was mostly dark and certain parts of the zombies/infected people lit up (glow in the dark socks and so on). Usgai basically runs around screaming for a while until Tuxedo Mask comes to save her. Understandable – she doesn’t want to hurt her friends or transform in front of everyone.
Unfortunately, Tuxedo Mask dropped their cane and stepped on it, almost falling. She caught herself really well, so props to the actress there. (I believe it was this scene – could have been the arcade scene)
She fawns over Tuxedo Mask again and after the day is saved, class is over. Everyone leaves as Usagi daydreams with these ridiculous heart eyes. A scene that reminded me of the theme park episode from the 90’s anime – they have a sort of carousel thing going on, and it’s very fairy tale like. It was very nostalgic to see it and remember the old anime.
Afterwards she meets up with everyone who scolds her for being late. They sing about how they met – a very cute and sweet song. Then suddenly we’re in Harajuku!
This part is sort of odd if you live in Japan. Since this production was made for showing Japanese culture abroad, for the Japanese audience, this didn’t have a lot of meaning for the home audience. It was also horribly outdated. The gothic Lolita outfits were ugly and super outdated, and I don’t really associate Harajuku with gothic Lolita. Nowadays it’s a variety of different looks and it would have been super nice to see a variety of styles shown, as well as styles that are from this decade ;; The outfits that the Senshi changed into were ugly clown like outfits and I hate them too.
However, it was a nice attempt in showing off a variety of Japanese things. For example, the girls do a bit of traditional dance (fitting for Bon Odori at this time of year) and also eat fairy floss (cotton candy) and crepes that Harajuku is famous for (at least on Instagram ;p). They also have the dancing with the light sticks, which… isn’t a Harajuku thing ;; More of an Akiba thing, but it’ll slide!
Usagi is separated from the group and ends up the arcade. Mamoru teases her for being so bad, and plays himself. He gets a high score and they high five, before they both remember they’re meant to hate each other. Kunzite is in a mascot outfit, shakes his bottom at Usagi who touches it and shows her a new game to play. I’m… not sure why this was necessary? I mean, it’s low key great, and bizarre, especially because Kunzite initiates it? I just… don’t understand it…
Mamoru is sucked into the Sailor V game, and keeps getting beaten up because Usagi sucks so much. He’s trying to get her attention but she’s too focussed on trying to win ;; She gets better in the second round and Tux is pleasantly surprised. He then promptly dies ;;; On her third attempt, Kunzite throws her into the game too.
The Senshi appear to fight. Their introduction song is honestly a fave of mine. I believe it (and all of the songs) are remixes of old songs (both anime and musical). If I find out which ones they are I’ll edit this post (I currently don’t have internet at home..). This scene is pretty good. Unlike some of the other dance scenes which drag, this scene, through song, tells about the characters and their powers.
Tuxedo Mask is taken away, and everyone is unsure of how to comfort Sailor Moon. I think it’s fitting that Venus is about to step in, but Mercury ends up talking to her first. And by talking, I mean singing Otome Policy. A lot of the performances are predictable in that they go by the order of which the Senshi appeared, so it would have been nice to have that shaken up a bit, but it’s not that big of a deal.
In Beryl’s world, Tuxedo Mask is possessed. Beryl is very pleased and they start to tango. The actress is wonderful – Tux is possessed, but isn’t fully under Beryl’s influence, so there’s point he tries to break free or doesn’t follow along. This was pretty believable! Beryl, on the other hand, is unconcerned – she’s in control and enjoying having the man she wants with her. Meanwhile, Kunzite lurks in the corner.
They teleport to Beryl’s world where they fight Kunzite and his creepy zombies. Honestly if someone aggressively danced their way at me I’d be terrified lol! Kunzite is super strong, and takes down all of the Senshi. Venus gets her sword and fights Kunzite, but they both remember their past. Beryl isn’t impressed and he ends up dead.
This scene was really touching. I felt a lot for her. They show Kunzite’s soul floating away, and her following it briefly, trying to catch it. She realises it’s no use. Everyone goes to comfort her, even though they don’t particularly know what’s going on.
They then have to fight monsters and Mask. Honestly, everyone except Moon and Venus should have been stronger than they were. Venus just got an unwelcomed flashback from her past life and lost her former boyfriend, so it’s understandable when she fails. Moon is fighting the love of her life. Everyone else felt a bit weak.
The Senshi end up dying, and Beryl kills Mask when he responds to Usagi.
Usagi is left with Beryl, and kind of… interpretative dances her feelings out? The start is a little long and messy, but as she starts to go from no confidence, I’ve lost everything, why try?, to I have to do this, I can do this… it’s amazing. She’s taking all of Beryl’s hits and throwing them off and is the strong Sailor Moon we all love.
Beryl tries to suck her up with her darkness, and Sailor Moon walks straight in. She comes back out with her new Moon Stick, glowing brightly. She beats Beryl and dies? But Tuxedo Mask brings her back with a kiss. The other Senshi return as well.
Unfortunately, Mask accidentally turned the Moon Stick back on ;;; I don’t think it really need to be turned off in the first place. (Especially because it looks very ugly and cheap turned off – it’s also silver, when I think pink would be better suited) But that marks the end of all the obvious mistakes. For a first try, it isn’t so bad! I think they could have been fixed easily, with perhaps a bit of design done differently.
From here, there are some quick bows before the song portion.
Song part When it comes to singing, everyone was really good. However, Sailor Venus (Sena) stood out. Perhaps I’m a little bit biased, as Sena is the reason I chose this team over the others, but still. The others faltered a bit at times, or their mics weren’t properly in position, or their voices weren’t loud enough. Sena wasn’t perfect, but out of everyone, her voice was the clearest and most confident.
The songs were all really good choices. There were a few repeats of what was already in the show, most notably Otome Policy in a more pop version rather than the piano version from earlier.
Of course, I’m incredibly biased, but the best song was La Solider~ It’s honestly one of my favourite songs and I’m so so so glad they played it!
They left the stage to come back briefly for a few more songs. In between some of the songs were the dancers getting a bit of stage time, which was nice. Those girls do some really cool stuff, so it’s nice for them to get their dues.
Of course, everything ended with Moonlight Densetsu. Most the characters got solo or duet lines. This is the part where they ran around the audience, giving high fives. I was so close, yet so far T.T Buuuuut Sailor Venus blew me a kiss, so nothing else really matters haha~
We all got a little gift (clear bookmark?) and I got Moon. Some people in the audience were allowed to take pictures with the members. About twenty people I think? How lucky! I waited around with other fans to try and see the actresses as they left, but gave up in the end. It was a good night, and I’m really glad I went!
Summary Enjoyable: 5/5 Worth the ticket price: 5/5 Re-watchable: 4/5 If this was sold on dvd, would I buy it: 3.5/5

How To Overcome Low Visibility
The bulk of the articles on this guide give advice on how to perform your best for your audience. Ways to talk, things to offer, how to manage your tokens, so on and so forth. But what about actually attracting an audience at all? What if it’s not that there are a few people at a time that you’re trying to entertain - what if it’s absolutely no one at all? What then?
This is a topic that I haven’t touched on much in this guide. It’s certainly not that it isn’t a relevant subject matter - I think that a great deal of the questions I get asked fall somewhere close to these concerns. It’s just that, while running the risk of sounding conceited, it isn’t an issue that I’ve personally had to deal with, so it’s been tough for me to offer sound advice on my own.
That said, I’m certainly not without knowledgable sources, so I took to twitter a couple days ago to ask for some advice from ladies who had come back from a low camscore, and combined those pieces of advice with some thoughts of my own.
What is Camscore? A Review.
Camscore is a rating scale on MFC that is determined by some bizarre combination of tokens earned vs time broadcasted. How, exactly, is it calculated? I’ve been on the site for five years and I still couldn’t tell you - the gist of it is that it’s a good idea to make as many tokens as you can every hour and not just sit around on your phone or sleep because your camscore will be affected in a negative way. Every model begins with a camscore of 1000, and the tokens she makes will impact that score by either increasing it or decreasing it. Receive a tip bomb? Camscore goes up. Spend three hours on cam and only make 5 tokens? Camscore goes down. It’s a wise to try and maintain a camscore of 2000 or higher for visibility.
How do camscore and visibility go together? Camscore is the default sorting option for the way a member sees the main page on MFC - that’s to say, if a member doesn’t go into his settings and fiddle with stuff, the first “slot” on the main page will be the cam model streaming with the highest cam score, then the second highest, third highest, so on and so forth, moving from top left corner of the screen and gradually scrolling down the page. If I go to the MFC home page on my MacBook, I can see just three rows of room previews, eight previews per row - that’s just 24 spots visible without me having to scroll down the page. The lower your camscore, the lower your position on the first page, the further a member has to scroll to happen across your room preview, aka, the lower your MFC visibility. Right now the “first page” (aka no scrolling needed to see previews) of models have camscores between 10,000 and 6,000.
The Low Camscore Vortex
We need tokens to raise camscore. We need members to tip to get tokens. We need members to see us in order to tip us. A higher camscore helps us get seen.
This is the troubling part about MFC for a lot of models, and for a ton of reasons. The bottom line is that a low camscore - regardless of how you ended up with one - can make it incredibly difficult to make money. It can also make a lot of the advice I write more or less non-applicable. I suggest minimum hours and consistent shows - but for what audience? I suggest countdowns for stripping or for adding friends - but what’s the point when there’s hardly anyone in the room? If you’re used to sitting in front of the cam without any viewers, waiting for someone to happen by you, you’re stuck in a tough place; do you immediately jump on them and say hi (because talking is good cam modelling, as I suggest) - or do you wait for them to say something? What if they leave? Then what? In attempting to put myself in these shoes, I imagine camming would be incredibly stressful and really hard on the confidence.
That said, not totally impossible. While having a low camscore can start pulling you into the vortex, I’m hearing from credible sources (aka my bomb dot com cam lady friends) about some tips and tricks to help to haul yourself up and out.
Camscore Raising Tips
1. Log On Naked.
Okay, so maybe this isn’t applicable to my non-nude hopefuls out there ... but this is the piece of advice I heard pop up most often. Log on naked or topless to attract people in the room, and when you manage to get a small group of returning regulars, then try the countdown thing. Countdowns are great but if there’s no one around, they might look more discouraging than encouraging to potential tippers.
2. Content hustle.
Offline tips count more toward camscore than online tips do, so creating content to sell in your MFC Share is a good way to entice potential tippers. Your videos do not have to be fancy: you can simply open your webcam recording software, make a recording of you doing a strip tease or cum show, and then upload it to MFC share. Pricing these fairly low gives members the opportunity to purchase a show from you, in the absence of you putting up a countdown for them to view a show from you live. Obviously that’s the goal, but in the mean time, short and simple video sales could help you boost your score.
3. The “Friend Add” perk
Here’s a work around to camscore: people who have you added as a friend will see you pop up at the top of your list, and they’ll also see your “news feed” updates when you post them. For this reason, offer perks to adding members as a friend, because it’ll encourage them to add you as a friend, too - and then you’ll show up at the top of their page. My suggestion: 50 tokens to get a “friend add” will allow them PM privileges and a photo gallery on MFC Share. When people tip, make sure to remind them to add you as a friend, too - and then make use of that “news feed” feature to post when you’re going to be logging online.
4. Lovesense
I have zero knowledge about these things, other than that at least some members apparently do enjoy them. The Lovesense (and related toys) supposedly buzz or activate in reaction to the tip sound. Models will put “LOVESENSE ON” in the topic, so members know that when they tip, their girl is going to get a little vibration from them. Models replying to my twitter thread have said this was quite helpful, so it’s worth a shot!
5. Achievable goals
Start small. By keeping your tip menu and your content priced low, you’re allowing for a wider audience. People love to succeed. It’s better to offer your snapchat/videos/countdowns for cheap and slowly increase them as you’re able than it is to sit online and not sell anything at all.
6. The Grind
Like any cam advice, it seems that gritting your teeth and grinding it out is still very applicable in this situation. A few camscore champions mentioned that consistency is key, even when it’s difficult to attract an audience. One model said that she opted to work 10 to 12 hour shifts, daily, for a number of months in order to climb up the ladder. I would suggest a high degree of agreeableness would be beneficial: say yes to privates, say yes to custom videos, say yes to releasing new content as often as possible (obviously within your comfort zones though!).
7. Non-Camscore Visibility
Camscore isn’t the be-all-end-all of cam success! Social media is a powerful tool, as is the power of association. Myfreecams runs social media accounts on instagram and twitter, and frequently reposts/retweets models who tag them in photos. Don’t be afraid to use other platforms to boost your member base - and, at the end of the day, don’t feel as though MFC is the only site that you can find success on. Some choose to leave MFC because of camscore and go to another site, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Some girls hustle entirely over twitter or snapchat (though ToS can make that difficult, obviously).
Here’s a strategy: offer your snapchat for free, or for relatively few tokens. On your free/cheap snap story, offer the opportunity to tip to join a snapchat cum show. This way you’re raising your camscore through offline tips without actually having to broadcast and risk lowering it. Tadaa! One model offered the following advice: in those paid-for snapchat shows, attach a link to one of your MFC Share videos to every snap. This gives a member the opportunity to swipe up and purchase an MFC Share video during every snap. At the end of the snap story, add more links!

Sony XBR-X900H TV review: Excellent picture now, ready for the future
New Post has been published on https://appradab.com/sony-xbr-x900h-tv-review-excellent-picture-now-ready-for-the-future/
Sony XBR-X900H TV review: Excellent picture now, ready for the future
Tumblr media
The XBR-X900H is the best-performing midpriced Sony TV I’ve tested in years, with excellent contrast and brightness, accurate color and plenty of punch with HDR. Add to that a solid smart TV system, sleek styling and cutting-edge features and you’ve got a great television for anyone who values Sony’s brand but doesn’t want to pony up for one of its OLED TVs.
Like
Excellent overall image quality
Best-in-class connectivity
Available in an 85-inch size
More affordable than equivalent Samsung
Don’t Like
More expensive than competing TVs with similar picture quality
The key to this TV’s image quality, as with all LCD-based sets that perform well in my side-by-side tests, is well implemented full-array local dimming. It improves black levels and contrast by illuminating different areas of the screen separately as needed. In some crucial ways, such as reducing stray illumination with HDR, the X900H beat the similarly equipped TCL 6-Series in those tests, but in other ways the TCL won out, with superior brightness and contrast overall. The Sony also costs more than the TCL, so it’s not my top recommendation for people who want the best image quality for the money.
There are lots of good reasons to choose the Sony X900H instead, however. The first is superior connectivity: Unlike the TCL, it will be compatible with the highest-quality 4K/120Hz video from the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, and unlike any TV at this price it also has a built-in Next Gen TV tuner for upcoming ATSC 3.0 broadcasts. The Sony is also available in a massive 85-inch size, something not offered by TCL or Hisense. And maybe Sony’s brand cachet is important to you — but you don’t want to throw down even more for a FALD-equipped Samsung, the cheapest of which (the Q80T) costs hundreds more than the X900H.
Even better, Sony recently dropped the price of the 65-inch size to $1,000, just $100 more than the TCL. If that size, or any of the other reasons above appeal to you, the X900H should be on your short list.
A couple of subtle touches separate the X900H from other big-screen, thin-frame TVs available today. There’s a line of silver metallic finishing around the extreme edge on all four sides, matching the silver-colored stand legs. Those legs are thinner than usual but feel plenty solid, and I appreciated that they’re metal and not plastic.
A look around the sides finds holes for Sony’s unusual speaker array, and the bottom has bass ports. Both are invisible from the standard seating position but contribute to improved sound, according to Sony. I don’t test audio quality for CNET TV reviews, but don’t expect miracles here — any decent soundbar will likely outperform the X900H’s built-in audio by a mile.
The remote is old-school Sony: way too many buttons, most of which you’ll never use. I prefer the sleeker, simpler clickers of Samsung and Roku, as well as the motion-infused wands of LG.

Android TV: No Google TV yet, but still solid
Google recently debuted a new smart TV system called Google TV, but currently it’s only available in the new Chromecast and Google hasn’t said when (or if) other Google-powered devices like the X900H will get the upgrade. Meanwhile the current version, called Android TV, still performs well. Apps launched quickly, I zipped around thumbnails and navigation screens with ease, and response times in general were on par with Roku, Samsung and LG TVs.
Only Roku has as many apps as Android TV, and it lacks the voice power of Google Assistant. Roku’s search is better, however. LG has Assistant, as well as Alexa, but its app selection falls short. The X900H’s array of Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos apps is solid too: Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney Plus, Vudu and Fandango Now support both, Google Play Movies supports Vision (but not Atmos) and Tidal supports Atmos.

Android TV’s menus are perfectly usable, if not quite as evolved as Google TV. The home page is clean and simple, with favorite apps grouped at the top for easy access in a customizable bar and clear routes to get more apps, search and more. New for 2020, you can customize the input menu, and the TV settings menus have clear explanations of the effects of different adjustments, complete with illustrations.
I did experience some problems. There’s quite a few annoying pop-ups and notifications on the home page. You can’t customize the top section or what appears in each row, so a screen mostly full of clutter you don’t care about is inevitable. Wi-Fi was also unstable on my review sample. A couple of times I was greeted with a pop-up alert saying Wi-Fi was disconnected. The only way I could turn it back on was to unplug the TV and plug it back in. I asked Sony about the issue and a spokesperson told me it plans to issue a software update to deal with the issue — no word yet on timing.

Assistant on TVs works well. Commands are transcribed on-screen, along with suggestions for follow-up commands. The X900H lacks the far-field mic found on last year’s version, which is a bummer, but talking into the remote worked fine. I was able to launch apps, perform searches, mute and change volume, tell it to “play cat videos on YouTube,” get the weather, set timers and so on.
It wasn’t without typical Google Assistant wonkiness however. Once I asked, “What’s the latest news?” and an account login page appeared, and when I clicked through a YouTube channel failed to load, complete with a “Something went wrong” popup, a blank screen and a spinning progress indicator.
You can link the Sony TV with Google Nest Home or Amazon Alexa speakers for hands-free action. The X900H lets you use your phone to cast apps via its built-in Google Cast functionality, which works just like a Chromecast, and also supports Apple’s AirPlay 2 and HomeKit compatibility. AirPlay 2 lets the TV function as a display for TV shows, movies, music, photos and web pages with an iPhone, iPad or Mac as the controller. Unlike many other TVs, however, this Sony lacks the full Apple TV app.
Key features
Display technology LED LCD LED backlight Full array with local dimming Resolution 4K HDR compatible HDR10 and Dolby Vision Smart TV Android TV Remote Voice
The best picture-enhancing extra on the X900H is full-array local dimming. Unlike Vizio, Hisense or TCL, Sony doesn’t disclose the number of dimming zones on its TVs, and while more zones generally equate to better performance, that’s not always the case.
Other picture-centric extras include a native 120Hz refresh rate, a notable improvement on paper over the fake 120Hz refresh rates (they’re actually 60Hz native) found on some TVs. The X-Motion Clarity mode that debuted in 2018 is also on board. It boosts motion resolution by applying black frame insertion only where it’s needed on the screen, which is said to eliminate the flicker and dimness evinced by similar modes in past sets. See the picture quality section for more.
Unlike Samsung, TCL and Vizio, Sony doesn’t use quantum dots, so its HDR color gamut isn’t as wide. In addition to standard HDR10, the X900H supports the Dolby Vision HDR format, unlike Samsung.

4x HDMI inputs
3x USB ports
Composite video input
Ethernet (LAN) port
Optical digital audio output
1x headphone/subwoofer audio output
1x RF (antenna) input
RS-232 port (minijack)
The X900H has some of the most capable inputs of any 4K TV. It supports numerous HDMI 2.1 features, namely enhanced audio return channel (aka eARC), automatic low latency mode (ALLM, or auto game mode) and variable refresh rate. A firmware update will allow its HDMI inputs to accept 4K resolution at 120 frames per second, but Sony couldn’t tell me exactly when it would arrive. That feature sets it apart from many 2020 TVs like the TCL 6-Series, especially for gamers who want to take advantage of high frame rates from an Xbox Series X or Sony PlayStation 5.
It’s also the only non-8K TV to feature a built-in ATSC 3.0 over-the-air tuner, which allows the X900H to receive NextGen TV broadcasts. Those are still only available in a tiny number of markets so I didn’t get the chance to check out this feature, but it’s nice to know that once the broadcasts become more widespread, Sony X900H owners won’t have to connect an external tuner box to watch.

Unlike many of Samsung’s sets, the Sony actually has an analog video input, albeit composite-only, and I also appreciate having a headphone jack.

Picture quality comparisons
The Sony X900H is an excellent performer overall, with a pleasing, balanced image that still manages to deliver plenty of pop and contrast. It can’t quite match the black levels and light output of some LCDs I’ve tested — most recently from TCL and Hisense — but still comes pretty close. Meanwhile other areas of image quality, namely color accuracy and shadow detail, were superior to those TVs.
Click the image at the right to see the picture settings used in the review and to read more about how this TV’s picture controls worked during calibration.
Dim lighting: Dark movie scenes played in a dark room are the most challenging kind of content for LCD-based TVs and while the Sony looked excellent in my side-by-side tests, it wasn’t quite as good as the TCL 6-Series or the Hisense at maintaining that crucial darkness. Letterbox bars in mid-dark scenes, such as the general’s speech in the bunker at the beginning of 1917, provided one example. The other two TVs were both able to preserve a blacker color of “black” in the bars and other dark areas, like the soldiers’ silhouettes, which made them look a bit more realistic than the X900H. The difference was minor overall, however, and even less noticeable in other scenes with brighter lighting.
On the other hand, the Sony preserved details in shadows most consistently among the three TVs, for example in the super dark scene with the soldier waking up (1:06:38), and also controlled blooming and stray illumination very well. Again, the differences with SDR were relatively minor and all three TVs looked excellent.
Bright lighting: The X900H can get exceedingly bright, although it didn’t measure quite as bright as some other sets I’ve tested recently.
Light output in nits
TV Brightest (SDR) Accurate color (SDR) Brightest (HDR) Accurate color (HDR) Vizio PX65-G1 (2019) 1,990 1,120 2,908 2,106 TCL 65Q825 1,653 904 1,818 982 TCL 65R635 1,114 792 1,292 1,102 Sony XBR-65X900H 841 673 989 795 Vizio M658-G1 (2019) 633 400 608 531 LG OLED65CX 377 290 690 634
The “accurate” numbers above were measured with the Sony’s Xtended Dynamic Range setting in the High setting in the Custom picture mode, which is a great choice for bright rooms where you still want an accurate image. As usual, the brightest setting, Vivid, is incredibly inaccurate.
Compared to the others, the Sony’s screen finish was visibly superior at preserving contrast and black levels in a bright room, but it did a somewhat worse job of dimming bright reflections. Overall I preferred the Sony’s bright-room image to that of the others in most scenes.
Color accuracy: Despite its lack of quantum dots I’ve come to expect excellent color from Sony and the X900H is no exception. Its Custom and Cinema modes were very similar prior to calibration although both skewed slightly blue; afterward they were nearly perfect. Watching program material bright scenes, like the fields, woods and uniforms in Chapter 8 of 1917, looked the most pleasing and natural of the three TVs, outdoing the apparent saturation of the TCL in my comparison.
Video processing: The X900H had no issues delivering proper 1080p/24 cadence with its Motionflow controls in the Off position, which is probably the best for film purists. Meanwhile the Auto setting introduced the buttery smoothness of the soap opera effect. Then there’s the Custom setting, which has adjustable Smoothness and Clearness.
A Smoothness setting above 1 introduces significant SOE, while 0 turns it off. I actually didn’t mind the slight smoothing that the 1 setting introduces (some purists might), but its effect on motion resolution was really slight, so I’d probably stick with 0. The Clearness setting ramps up black frame insertion to improve motion resolution, but it doesn’t have any effect (aside from dimming the image) unless you’ve got Smoothness at 2 or higher. In other words there’s no way to get the best of both worlds — high motion resolution and no SOE — with one setting.
The X900H measured the best (lowest) input lag of any Sony TV yet, at around 15 milliseconds in Game mode for both 1080p and 4K HDR — an improvement of 4ms compared to last year’s X950G. In the Custom mode, meanwhile, I measured 91ms with both resolutions.
Uniformity: The X900H sample I tested was very good in this category, with few visible variations across the screen in static or moving test patterns or program material, such as a hockey match. Compared to the TCL and the Hisense, the Sony lost black level fidelity and contrast from off-angle more severely as I moved away from the sweet spot in the center of the screen. On the other hand, it preserved color better than the other two.
HDR and 4K video: The X900H is a suburb HDR performer overall. I started my comparison with my reference video, the montage from the Spears and Munsil UHD HDR Benchmark, and the Sony held its own nicely compared to the TCL and the Hisense, although it couldn’t quite match either one for contrast. Its biggest challenge, as expected, came during the difficult bright-on-black sections, for example the honey dripper at 2:50. Both of the others delivered deeper black levels that gave the image more pop and contrast, as well as showing less blooming and stray illumination.
In brighter, more natural shots like the snowy mountains and the hot springs, the Sony narrowed the gap, although brightness in highlights and in larger bright areas like clouds and snow lagged the TCL slightly and the Hisense even more. Color accuracy was excellent, a bit better than the TCL and significantly better than the Hisense, with a balanced yet vibrant look to the flowers and insects. The Sony also preserved detail in very bright areas better than the Hisense.
Turning back to 1917 in 4K HDR, the Sony again competed well and in some scenes looked the most balanced and pleasing of the three. The general’s bunker scene (6:55) was one example: the TCL 635 showed darker black levels but worse blooming and stray illumination, and while the Hisense was brighter in highlights its color looked the least realistic and it also showed blooming. Again the Sony preserved shadow detail the best among the three as well.
In brighter scenes the Sony again trailed the other two at delivering that trademark HDR blast of light, for example in the skies above the soldiers as they walk quickly through the trenches. The TCL and the Sony were relatively close, however, and tough to differentiate without measuring their bright areas directly, while the Hisense was visibly brighter than both. On the other hand, as I saw with the 4K Benchmark, colors on both the TCL and Sony looked more accurate and natural than on the Hisense.
4K HDR gaming: For this test I played The Last of Us Part 2 on a PS4 Pro in the TVs’ various Game modes: Game mode on the Sony and Gaming HDR (aka THX-certified Game Mode) for the 635 (I didn’t include the Hisense in this test).
When you’re crawling around a dark building hunting zombies, shadow detail is more important than black level and contrast, because it allows you to peer into dark recesses to spot enemies. By that measure the Sony was better than the 635, delivering every ounce of detail in the darkest shadows while the 635 was a bit more shrouded. That said, the TCL won for black levels, contrast and punch in the same (default) game settings. With many games, including The Last of Us Part 2, you can adjust gamma and shadow detail to taste (and you should).
Moving out into the day-lit Seattle streets, the 635 again looked best overall thanks to superior contrast, which as usual helped colors pop. The Sony still looked great, however, and differences would be tough to discern outside of a side-by-side comparison.

Using Search Query Reports to Maintain Your AdWords Keywords
Like most Browse Engine Marketing professionals, I believe one of the finest places to locate brand-new key words for an account is the Google Look Inquiry Report (SQR). Staying educated about just what people are searching for assists you understand your account and recognize far better the search patterns that refer to it. It likewise aids assure you that you have actually all bases covered in your keyword phrase list. This post is rather comprehensive and discovers a sophisticated, crucial Adwords account monitoring practice.
Report Frequency
How usually you need to examine the SQR for brand-new search phrases truly relies on the volume of the account and also the length of time it has been running. Nonetheless, a somewhat winner is as soon as every two weeks. If your account sees less than 30 conversions a month, it's most likely safe to do this task as soon as every three to four weeks.
If your account was lately released and also you see over 150K impressions a day, it would not hurt to execute this task once a week. You might likewise intend to readjust the criteria to choose new key words based on click quantity as well as click-through rates, as opposed to conversions. However a lot more on that later.
How to Run a Look Query Report
Step 1: Configure Adwords SQR Correctly
You can start this task by going to the dimensions tab in the Google Adwords Interface. See to it search terms are selected from the drop-down on the left-hand side. Additionally, make certain your date variety is readied to the excellent period. As I stated, I would certainly suggest executing this job every two weeks. I would certainly additionally advise seeing to it the day ranges overlap slightly, so as not to miss any kind of valuable conversion information. If the last time I executed this task, I made use of the date variety 02/16/13 -03/ 01/13, this time, I 'd desire to begin with 03/01/13 so as not to miss out on any type of partial information from one day. Also, make sure you have all the appropriate columns picked. This could be done from the column drop-down, mid-screen. Which columns you should use really relies on the metrics that are most essential to you and the goals of your account. At a minimum, I would certainly recommend downloading and install clicks, impacts, cost, and conversions. Various other metrics such as Avg. CPC, Avg. Pos., CTR, conversion price, as well as Cost/Conversion are additionally good ideas.
Step 2: Download Data
After selecting the important metrics, download and install the information into Microsoft Excel, which can be done by clicking on the down pointing arrow. You will after that be triggered by one more screen to download the record - click "Create." Your report must download as an Excel file.
Step 3: Set Up Excel Correctly
The very first thing you need to do after opening up the Excel file is include a filter to the 2nd row, where all the column headers are. The filter attribute could be located on the leading right-hand side of the residence tab of Microsoft Excel. I likewise erasing the lower overall row, so it won't obtain in the method of the data. From here, de-dupe against the existing key phrases you have in the account. For me, the simplest means to do this is by entering into AdWords Editor and setting a personalized sight to only reveal energetic keyword phrases in active campaigns.
Step 4: Integrate Positive Keywords
Then, go to the key words tab - seeing to it that you get on the favorable search phrases - as well as pick all as well as copy. Go back to your primary Excel spreadsheet and also, on a second sheet, paste these search phrases. To maintain points basic, remove all columns (Campaign, Ad Team, Max CPC, etc.) other than for the keyword column. Double-check to make sure there are no added areas before the keywords from AdWords Editor. In the circumstances there are, I suggest using Microsoft Excel's ASAP Utilities Text9 to eliminate leading as well as tracking spaces. If you have not downloaded and install ASAP Utilities, I suggest doing it currently. It's a super-helpful device. You could additionally make use of the trim feature (= trim( cell)).
Step 5: Clean Up Data
Then return to the initial sheet, the search term report. Following to the search terms in column A, create a brand-new column. Run a v-lookup to de-dupe these search terms against the existing keyword phrases. In cell B3, go up to the function bar and also click on it. (on top of Excel, with the fx alongside it). Select 'vlookup', and also press ok. Then select cell A3 for the lookup value. For the table array, most likely to the second tab of keywords, pick the entire location, as well as press F4. For column index number, choose 1, due to the fact that there is just one column of information we are considering.
For Variety Lookup, enter 'false', because we are looking for specific match information. Press get in. After that, go to the bottom right corner of the cell we just populated (B3) and also double-click it to occupy right down.
For the cells in the vlookup column that returned text, those are search phrases that currently exist. For those that returned the #N/ A value, those do not exist as keyword phrases, so deselect everything yet the #N/ A value in the filter to separate all the prospective brand-new terms.
Step 6: Pick Metrics to Establish Keywords
From here, you need to choose metrics for selecting brand-new keywords. Once again, this is something that will certainly differ by account, but also for a lot of accounts, it's a good wager that you desire search terms that lead to a conversion. From here, sort biggest to smallest for conversions, then isolate the transforming terms by deselecting 0. Then, for this account, you might filter for 10+ perceptions. I would do this because, in the circumstances there is only one impression, the term could wind up being low search quantity, or it may finish up being something unknown that will certainly never ever get inquired again. If you are dealing with a large volume account, it doesn't hurt to make use of extra limits, such as a minimal variety of clicks, or a higher minimal variety of conversions.
Step 7: Click Your Heels With each other and also Smile
Give the continuing to be terms a quick checkup making certain they are all pertinent and also ideal to the account.
If they are, you have effectively determined some vital new key phrases which you ought to include to your account!

Lost Boy
-Donghyuk x Reader
-Angst, Fluff
-Nothing is worse than having to go through a fading friendship. As your best friend slips out of your grasp, you couldn’t help but let the inevitable happens.
Tumblr media
Another beautiful morning in the city and you had the unimaginable luck of having the day off. It was well deserved if you had to say so yourself. Having to grind out 3 weeks in a row of constant overtime and late night meeting, your company finally pushed through and signed perhaps the biggest deal of the decade. Low key, or very high key, this earned you a pedestal in your boss’s list of trustworthy assistants and a very, very long time coming promotion and raise. Best of all, he was in such a good mood that all the key players in the project had the wonderful opportunity of days off, their choosing. This brings it back to why you were sitting in a bustlingly loud restaurant at 10 AM when you could be having a snooze fest at home. Your eyes droned out, nursing your third glass of tea as another clear pearl of condensation rolled down the fading shade of the brown liquid.
None was more happy for you about the promotion than your best friend. Although you two weren’t childhood best friend, or even high school best friend, you both knew enough about each other to write biography in each other place let something bad happens.
You had first laid eyes on him struggling with a paper map wandering a small street in one of the small historical towns of Nagano, Japan one random December almost six years ago. A stick of yakitori precariously hanging out of his mouth as both his hands were too busy to hold the snack, his eyes frantically searches the writing, the number, anything to indicate his destination. Judging from the heavy, overstuffed backpack and the confuse doe eyes, you made the conclusion that he was also backpacking just like you. Something about how helplessly lost he was that made your heart swelled, a gentle smile found itself upon your lips.
Not to be a creep, you forcefully teared your eyes away from that magnificently well sculpted face and return to the colorful rows of mochi and the kind eyes of the old woman. Somewhere in between deciding on whether you should get the mango or the matcha mochi and buying 5 different flavors at once, a small voice sounded out from behind startling the small coins to stumble out of your hand, clinking on the glass display case.
“Uhm, I’m sorry to bother you...”
The voice was so velvety smooth and gentle, sounding like the clearest of bells and somehow a hint of a crisp spring afternoon. You collected your change, bowed to the old woman in the shop before having all the air knocks out of your lungs from the view. The lost boy stood next to you, nose and cheeks redden from the cold, a bit of blond hair sticking out from the black beanie sitting low on his forehead. Even as disheveled and wasted from the frosty wind of nearing Christmas, he was so divinely handsome. He offered a weary but no less than bright smile as a peace token, as if to let you know he meant no harm.
“Are you alright? You looked uhm... bit worn if you don’t mind me saying.” You replied with utmost carefulness, cautious of the stranger.
“Not at all. I think I’m a bit further than just ‘worn’” He giggled and if sunshine was a sound, that would be it. “I’m disastrously lost, if you could...” Another nervous giggle. You swore if he giggle one more time, not only would you give him direction but all your money. Seriously, how could anyone be so adorable.
“Let me see.”
It wasn’t even a minute before you realized his destination was the same hostel as yours, one and only. Opting to give him verbal direction anyways, you didn’t want to overstay your welcome. For all you knew, he could just be nice for the sake of getting help. Bowing deeply several times, he trekked off on his own as you sauntered not too far behind deciding it was time to lay your head. After 5 minutes of walking, you had forgotten about the lost boy that was no longer lost completely. It wasn’t often you got to see dainty wooden houses lining the foot of mountains green with endless amount of trees. Quaint artisan shops littered the path with happy faces of grandpa and grandma offering their lifelong skills to show visiting folks a bit of their town’s specialties. Almost forgotten.
“Uhm, you don’t have to walk me there you know. Showing me the way was kind enough of you, I can’t possibly have you going out of your way.”
That smoother than butter voice permeated your eardrums once more.
“Huh?” You gasped before realizing you had closed the gap with him sometimes in the middle of daydreaming about living here. “Oh, I’m not.”
“Are you... following me?” He said ever so reluctantly yet that playful glint in his eyes said otherwise.
“Oh, yea. I’m a serial killer. I pretend to be trustworthy to get your info before brutally murdering you.” You glared at him, almost too serious with your words as you see the life in his eyes looking for an escape route before laughing like a maniac. “Get off your high horse mister. We’re going to the same hostel. I can’t believe you.” You groaned a bit, although internally, you were hoping the banter you caught on isn’t just your imagination.
“OH! Why didn’t you say so. We could’ve walk together.” He exclaimed at the same time veering off toward you.
“You just took off so I don’t know, it’d be weird if I like chase you down. Plus, I don’t even know your name, blondie.”
“It’s Donghyuk! You are?” He stuck out his hand, smile lingering on those chapped lips.
“Y/n! Nice to meet you.” Taking his hand, you smiled to the best of your ability under the winter numbness that must be what it feels like to be under botox. Offering a piece of your fresh mochi to commemorate a new friendship, you listened as he rambled on the “life decisions”, as he put it which earned a small chuckle from you, that got him to the point of beyond lost.
“... and here we are, walking together eating mochi!” He said brightly, making you wonder about the mismatching between his appearance and his excited self. “So, Y/n. What brings you on this trip? I see that you’re alone also. You don’t travel alone unless there’s a reason to. Judging from how lovely you are, it can’t be because you’re a loner.”
Gorgeous, charming, and smooth. You really got yourself into some trouble now. You watched as he nearly killed himself focusing intensely on eating the scrumptious mochi you had offered him, almost walked the small manmade ditch that delivered fresh water from the mountain through the town. He went on eating without missing a beat so you let it slide, suppressing the small laugh he gave you.
“Soul searching.” You hummed simply, eyes gazing off into the redden sky that matched his cheeks.
“Wow, deep shit. And I don’t mean that you’re full of shit, just wow... I’m over here like yea, you know I worked hard so I wanna spend money. You’re just wow.” He took his eyes of the snack for a few seconds to stare at you, almost with admiration.
“Yea, you know. Sometimes you just gotta... I’m just kidding.” You heaved a hearty laugh. “I wanted to see the snow monkeys.”
“Is this gonna be a normal occurrence with you? You are full of shit, and not the good kind. Hey, me too though. I wanna see the monkeys. Let’s go together.”
You gave a small nod before continuing the cheerful banter the rest of the way to the hostel. That night, you both spent most of it planning out the trip after finding yourselves having nearly every destination matching. Although tired, both of you stayed up till closer to sun up sharing interests and hobbies, finding out that you both in fact live in the same city back home. Crazy how life worked. You went 20+ years living in the same part of the world without ever meeting each other then by some crazy fate, you both ended up in the same foreign country, staying in the same place, having the same destinations.
Your day dream cut short at the sound of the cheery waitress whom you suspected of drinking 20 shots of espresso because damn, her personality rivaled even Donghyuk.
“I have your egg Benedict and your date’s omelette. If you have any other question, let me know. I’ll be right over there.” She cheered in a high pitch tone, smiling so wide it felt a bit unsettling.
“Nah, we’re just celebrating her promotion. Not a date!”
Donghyuk chimed in, eyes momentarily parted from his phone and honestly, you were shock to hear his voice after what seemed like an hour of him smiling at the screen. You both sat next to the bright window of a French bakery and restaurant combo with pristine white tiled wall from floor to ceiling. Black ornate chairs and white cloths cover the rows of dinning table, perfect for a morning brunch date. He had returned to clicking away at the screen, smile still prominent on the handsome face. His hair no longer blonde now as it was all those years ago but a warm shade of chestnut brown. To be frank, he could dye his hair rainbow, lose all his arms, legs, the ability to speak or hear and you would still think he’s the best person in the whole wide world. It wouldn’t be too frank either to say that perhaps, you had fallen for him a bit. None of that really mattered though judging from the way he lovingly giggle at whatever, whoever it is on the receiving of those texts. Your eyes glued on him and his on his phone.
Watching the condensation pooled at the bottom of the tall glass, you sighed dejectedly. Neither of you had seen each other in two months and to say you were overjoyed when he asked to hang out would be an understatement. His offer of having a nice day out was too tempting for you not to cash in one of your paid days off your boss had so kindly given you. However, you were less than thrilled when the second you both got seated, he immediately clung onto his phone like his life depended on it.
It wasn’t always like this. Donghyuk was the most considerate, caring, observing person you had come to know. Your mind wandered off once again at the repetitive clicking of his text, drifting off to the days of the snow monkeys. It was a long hike and neither of you had gotten much sleep the night before. You both had under-eye bags for days but nothing could stop the overflowing determination of seeing some damn macaques bathing in hot springs. You had seen the monkey, taken pictures with the monkeys, done everything you could possibly think of before heading back down in the early evening. Both you and Donghyuk parted way at the hostel, crashing into your respective bed and knocked out for lord know how long. When you opened your eyes to take in the world later on, the man in moon had already came out to grace the Earth with his brilliant silver streams of light and the stars twinkled, illuminating the dark sky. Groaning loudly, definitely regretting staying up so late, you rubbed your eyes of its tiredness before checking to see a few texts from Donghyuk.
[12:30] You up yet?
[12:45] Meet me here when you up :)
[1:05] Y/n~~~~~~~~~
Pulling on the thick coat, you made your way down the small stone paved street before ending up in front of a wooden sliding door with bright lanterns hung on each side. Pushing your way in, a loud, manly shout of “いらっしゃいませ~” tear through the air. Already, not even one step in, you could feel the difference in the bustling nightlife of a 居酒屋 and the quiet countryside nightlife outside. You bowed to the chef, smiling despite the late hour and boiling heat of the fire grill surrounding the kitchen.
“Yay, you’re up! I was beginning to think I’m getting stood up.”
“Sorry, I feel like I just got hit by a bus. How are you so chippy... I legit feel and look like shit.” You mumbled a bit, taken back at how sprightly the boy sitting in in a booth on the far end of the restaurant still is after a long tiring day.  Sliding into the squishy, worn out bench, you let your eyes fell onto the bottle of sake already empty.
“So what’s up with you and the sake?” You asked casually, not wanting to cross the line.
“Nothing much.” He muttered, pouring a small cup for you before downing his own. “I can’t drink with my new friend?”
“I guess that’s as good of a reason as any.” You chuckled softly, somehow his words seemed heavier than it supposed to be.
“Hey, Y/n. Earlier today when you said you’re ‘soul searching’, you actually meant it, didn’t you...” He hesitated. “It wasn’t a joke, right?”
“Hmm... how’d you know?”
“Your eyes. The chaos behind them...”
Pouring 2 more glasses, you both downed the shots before you let on a sadden smile. It wasn’t much of a story to tell really. It was the typical cheating boyfriend soul searching one. The bastard had actually wanted to go to Japan but was too poor to afford the trip. Of course being the gracious girlfriend you were, you offered to pay as a present for your 3rd anniversary. Like a God given miracle, you found out about his sleazy way a month before the trip and affectively canceled his half. You had thought about cancelling the trip altogether of course but what’s the point of punishing yourself over a dirtbag so off you went on your own. Donghyuk smiled, offered himself as companion for the rest of your trip.
“You said no one travels alone unless they have a reason...”
“I suppose you want to know mine now?” He said, still holding onto your hand supportively. At your nod, he continued. “I kinda lied... I’m sorry!”
“You what?!” you blurted out, not really angry, just curious.
“I was really curious about the beautiful girl with the sad smile traveling all alone so I lied. I said that so I could have an in. I’m sorry Y/n. I’m here by myself just cause. There’s no reason.”
“Oh my God, our friendship is base on a lie. My heart, how could you do me like this.” You clutched your heart dramatically, faking pain as his giggle pushed away your loneliness. Somehow, sitting here drinking sake with a boy you barely knew, your soul felt the calmest it had in a long time and you knew, everything will be okay.
Staring at him now, you would think twice about your own statement about him back then. You swore even the waitress felt sorry for you, being completely invisible to the boy across the table. Or perhaps she pitied you.
“Donghyuk, why did you wake me up early to hang out if you’re just going to text all day.”
“I’m sorry, Y/n. It’s just Yoonji had something important to tell me.” His smile faltered yet his tone lack the guilt it should’ve been laced with for ignoring you. “So about the trip, you down? We can go to Europe or somewhere else too if you don’t feel like going back to Japan.” He set his phone down before digging into his plate.
“We can go back to Japan, I don’t mind. It’s not like I’ve been to every single prefecture.” You replied to his question halfheartedly, wholeheartedly over this whole brunch. You want nothing more to just tucked in with your teddy bear for a good slumber.
“Hmm, maybe we can go to Hokka-” His words cut short by that annoying ringtone you had heard too many time, the one that has the name “Yoonji” attached to it. Almost on instinct, his kind smile graced you with its appearance as his fingers reached for the flashing phone. “Sorry, Y/n. I really need to take this. I won’t be long”
Without even a bit of hesitation, not even pretending to offer to ignore the call for your sake, he stood up and walked toward the patio, almost singsonged his greeting. A wave of jealousy and anger washed over your whole body. A wave that you knew was completely irrational. Donghyuk had always been a good friend, offering you everything he got despite the million things he had going on in his life. You must be out of your damn mind to be demanding for more but still, you can’t help but let your eyes glowed green with envy. Envy of a person that got all his attention without even physically be here. As far as you concerned, Yoonji is his other, ultimate best friend, the one he grew up with, the one he shared most of his life with. Compare to her, you were paler than a goldfish without sun.
Not wanting to let the illogical surge of ugly emotion in your heart manifest itself, you stood up. Engulfed in a blitz attack of feelings from pure jealousy to insecure and unworthy, you paid for the meal and left before the threatening tears could see the light of day. With one last lingering gaze at the cheery boy laughing away on his phone outside completely unaware of your exit, you reminded yourself that he had never asked for this. He didn’t asked for you to be completely powerlessly in love with him. You knew no matter what, Yoonji will always take the cake in his heart. With a heavy sigh, you hailed a cab heading toward your company. Work will be the one thing that will never disappoint you.
