not quite tuesday tidbit teases
it's probably tuesday somewhere and this just popped in my head and I wanted to share. what do you think? do we want more?
tagging if any of you want to share something šŸ˜˜ @hippolotamus @eddiebabygirldiaz @messyhairdiaz @rainbow-nerdss @tizniz @spotsandsocks @daffi-990 @monsterrae1 @diazsdimples @watchyourbuck @wh0re-behavi0r @911onabc @chaosandwolves @alliaskisthepossibilityoflove @rogerzsteven @epicbuddieficrecs @bekkachaos @fiona-fififi @wikiangela @exhuastedpigeon @the-likesofus @hoodie-buck @lover-of-mine @mikereads @jesuiscenseedormir @lemonzestywrites šŸ’•
Itā€™s just after midnight and Buck is going to bed.Ā
Heā€™s been saying this for a couple hours but YouTube had too many AItA videos and Instagram had those gorgeously edited food recipe posts and he doesnā€™t even want to talk about the doomscrolling of TikTok. But he had a day off and it was supposed to be with Tommy so they could take the weekend and go somewhere fun and romantic, but then Tommy had to work. Buck couldā€™ve gone in with the rest of A shift. But it was nice to have some alone time for himself so he took time for himself.Ā
His phone goes off with a call five seconds after heā€™s gotten into bed. Itā€™s a number he doesnā€™t know. So he could ignore it. Or wait until theyā€™ve left a message. But who would call at this hour for no reason? Or for scamming, telemarketing reasons?Ā
So Buck answers.Ā
ā€œBuckley?ā€ The man on the other end says. He sounds vaguely familiar but not enough that Buck came put a name or face with a voice.Ā
ā€œUh, yeah? Who is this?ā€Ā
ā€œMehta. Captain Mehta. Of the 133.ā€
ā€œOh, hey,ā€ Buck says, automatically friendly and smiling. That makes sense now. ā€œWhatā€™s up? Why theā€” why are you calling?ā€ Why would he call in the middle of the night?
Why does anyone call in the middle of the night.
ā€œBuckley,ā€ he says and it soundsā€¦ it soundsā€¦ it sounds likeā€¦
They have him now. Theyā€™ll take care of him. Why donā€™t we get you cleaned up. Heā€™s in good hands. Theyā€™ll rush him to surgery. You donā€™t have to worry. Letā€™s get you cleaned up.Ā
Lets get you cleaned up.
Buck canā€™t breathe. His whole body is cold. Frozen.Ā
He tries to get out of bed. He tries, but just slides to the floor beside it. He doesnā€™t make it any further.
ā€œBuckley, there was a helicopter crash. Your team, our team we went to rescue the pilot. Your, uh, sorry, I donā€™t know what you call him, but your boyfriend? Life partner? Heā€”ā€
Oh god. No. No, thatā€™s not. Thatā€™s not happening. That is not what is happening right now. This canā€™t be a, Tommy is dead and Iā€™m letting you know. It canā€™t be that. Itā€™s not. They were going toā€”
They were supposed to have a romantic trip together. Wine tasting and some kind of museum Tommy thought Buck would love and maybe a visit to a hot springs up north and they were going to watch the sunset and the sunrise andā€”
And he canā€™t be dead. He canā€™t be.
ā€œHeā€™s alive,ā€ Mehta says. ā€œWeā€™re at Cedars-Sinai. Heā€™s alive, but. It doesnā€™t look good. Heā€™s in the ICU now. Heā€™s critical.ā€
Buck pushes himself up. Has to. He has to be there.Ā
He barely remembers to thank Mehta or even end the call before he switches off his phone and runs out the door.Ā
~
The drive is a blur. The drive is probably very illegal and he doesnā€™t know how he doesnā€™t crash, but he doesnā€™t have time to wait for an Uber or for anyone else. He runs as fast as possible to the ER lobby, and almost runs directly into Chimney.Ā
Not almost. Buck crashes into him and almost knocks them both to the floor but that almost actually is an almost because Chim somehow steadies them both.Ā
Heā€™s pale. Shaken up. His eyes are red. Heā€™s been crying.Ā
ā€œChim,ā€ Buck says as broken as he feels. ā€œChim, whereā€” where is he? What happened? How did this happen? Please tell me heā€™s okay. He canā€™t be dying, right? That canā€™t be happening?ā€
Chim opens his mouth and grips Buckā€™s arms tighter, still trying to steady him. ā€œBuck, weā€” we donā€™t know yet. It was bad, but heā€™s tough. You know that. He could be fine.ā€
Buck lets out a broken whimper and backs away from him. ā€œNo. He is fine. Heā€™s fine and this isnā€™t happening. I justā€” Chim, I just found him. I canā€™t lose him already.ā€Ā
Thereā€™s a flash of something on Chimneyā€™s face but thereā€™s movement around Buck, too. Other people. Bobby, heā€™s pretty sure. And Hen. They would be here. They would try to comfort him. But they donā€™t need to because itā€™s fine. Everything is fine and this isnā€™t happening.Ā
It canā€™t be happening.Ā
He canā€™t be dying.
Thereā€™s more movement and itā€™s all blurry, probably filtered through tears, but then everything stops. The world stops.Ā
Tommy is right in front of him. Whole, alive, real, a little rumpled and there are bloody scratches and bandages on his face and around his arm. But heā€™s here. Heā€™s fine.
Buck slams into him, throws his arms around him, and sobs as he clutches him.Ā
ā€œBaby,ā€ Tommy says softly as he hugs Buck tightly, cradling him, comforting him, and Buck can breathe. Heā€™s not frozen. Everything is okay. They were all wrong. Buck knew they were wrong. ā€œIā€™m sorry. Iā€™m so sorry,ā€ Tommy tells him and holds him tighter.Ā
Buck pulls back just to look at him. ā€œNo, itā€™s okay. Youā€™re okay.ā€ He takes a deep breath and smiles because Tommy is fine. Heā€™s right here and everything is good. Buck touches Tommyā€™s battered face and caresses him gently. Heā€™s bruised and also pale, and very soggy. Itā€™s been stormy tonight. Another reason why Buck wasnā€™t all that eager to go out in it. ā€œThey told meā€”Ā  fuck, they scared me. I thoughtā€” I thought I lost you. I was so scared. I donā€™t want to lose you. He told meā€”Mehta, Captain Mehtaā€” he called and told me there was a helicopter crash and my boyfriend was in the ICU and heā€™s critical and it didnā€™t look good, and I canā€™tā€” god, I canā€™t. Tommy, Iā€”ā€
Tommyā€™s face isnā€™t good. Itā€™s pale. Bad. Not smiling. Not relieved. It falls and he canā€™t even hide the devastation on it. He looks like guilt and death, and his mouth moves but nothing comes out. ā€œEvan,ā€ he finally says, barely says. Itā€™s too quiet, too broken. ā€œEvanā€¦ā€
No. No, Buck doesnā€™t like that. He doesnā€™t want to throw up right now. And he just might. His heart is rabbit speed lightning and his legs donā€™t exist anymore and thereā€™s an awful blackhole of apocalyptic world-ending destruction swirling and growing in his stomach.Ā
Someone takes his arm. Someone needs his attention. Heā€™s moved from Tommyā€™s arms because there is no safety or comfort anymore. Thereā€™s no relief. Thereā€™s no happily ever after, nothing will ever be okay.Ā
Buck knows why Mehta said what he said. He knows who isnā€™t here. He knows who would have come to him and immediately comforted him.Ā
He knows.Ā
He knows what this is now. It canā€™t be that. It canā€™t.Ā Buck doesnā€™t know anything.
Hen tells him. She holds his arm and says calmly even if itā€™s broken. Everything is broken. Theyā€™re all broken. ā€œBuck. Itā€™s Eddie.ā€
No. No, it isnā€™t. It isnā€™t that either. Buck really canā€™t take that. It was bad enough, unimaginable enough the other way. It canā€™t be this.Ā
Heā€™s already done this. They did this before. More than once. Forty plus feet of cruel earth and a whirling burst of metal and blood all over him.Ā
Eddieā€™s blood was all over him.Ā
ā€œThe helicopter went down and got stuck on the cliffs. He went in so he could pull Tommy out, and we got Tommy out,ā€ Hen tells him, every word a knife stabbing through both of them. All of them.Ā
ā€œHe saved me,ā€ Tommy says, quiet and full of regret. ā€œHe saved me and went down with it. They thought it was stable enough. It wasnā€™t. They got him out after. Butā€¦ā€
Buck collapses to his knees on the floor and holds his head in his own hands as if he can somehow hold himself together when thereā€™s no holding himself together.Ā
Itā€™s Eddie.
Itā€™s Eddie itā€™s Eddie itā€™s Eddie.Ā
Buck shatters like flimsy glass and sobs in all the pieces that are ripped out of him. What about Chris? What about Abuela? What about Eddieā€™s parents and sisters and friends and everyone else who loves him?
What about Buck? They canā€™t be BuckandEddie without Eddie.Ā
ā€œI need to see him,ā€ Buck suddenly says to the closest person who will listen. ā€œI need to be with him. Please. Please.ā€
Thereā€™s arguing that happens. Bobby yells at someone. Hen, Chim, and Tommy stay around him like a protective guard. Until someone finally agrees. Heā€™s not in surgery, they canā€™t take him to surgery yet. Heā€™s not stable enough. But heā€™s on a ventilator, life support. They warn him and Buck doesnā€™t care. He knows how bad these things can be. Heā€™s lived through several.Ā
They give him five minutes.Ā
Theyā€™ll have to drag him out with an armed guard if they think Buck will agree to only that. But at least itā€™s something.Ā
Itā€™s something.Ā
Eddie is mostly covered. Blankets, wires, tubes, IV lines, bandages. Heā€™s paler than all of them. Slightly blue-purple, cyanotic. They tell him a few things but Buck canā€™t hear them. He just wants to be with Eddie.Ā
Buck sits beside him and rests a shaking hand over Eddieā€™s hand, under the blankets where itā€™s trying to be warm. Buck would give anything to keep him warm, and alive.Ā
Eddie needs to stay alive. He needs to.Ā
Buck rests his forehead on the side of the bed near their joined hands. He would say something if he had the capacity to form words and sentences. The only thing in his head right now is, donā€™t leave me, please donā€™t leave me.
And thatā€™s probably all he can say. All that really matters.Ā
Donā€™t leave me, donā€™t leave me, please, donā€™t ever leave me.

'Worst Habit' Headcanons!
Here's some sfw headcanons for what I think Overwatch members' worst habits are c: (I rambled a bit so it's under the cut as per usual)
Tumblr media
Winston: It's obvious that Winston loves peanut butter, which is fine in and of itself. I think he has a really bad habit of leaving empty pots around the Overwatch HQs, especially his room though. That, and making the worst combinations imaginable. Like peanut butter and spicy chips, or peanut butter and eggs, that sort of thing. He would convince everyone to try it, and feel rejected if they didn't. It's his worst habit but not necessarily a toxic one; otherwise he's a pretty sensible individual.
Lena Oxton / Tracer: Tracer's worst habit is definitely picking at her nails. She tends to do so as a self soothing action, but she doesn't know when to stop and it causes her to have scabs sometimes that Emily has to mend for her. It's something she's aware of but nothing helps to stop her from doing so; she's tried picking stones, those zit popping toys, everything. Nothing feels as good as picking her skin when she's anxious.
Mei-Ling Zhou / Mei: When Mei's in a low mood and is struggling mentally, she sometimes finds it hard to avoid not talking down herself, or viewing herself negatively. It seeps into the atmosphere in HQ, and it's something that she struggles to get herself out of. Once the bad thoughts start, she can't control them and struggles to do so, especially when they involve her survivor's guilt.
Genji Shimada / Genji: Genji used to have several bad habits he's learned to stop over the years, like playing games in his bed, eating unhealthy food too much, smoking probably at one point or another. But he still cant shake the bad habit of skipping training sometimes because he can't be bothered. If he's not in the mood, there's no way he's gonna be seen in the gym strength and ability training unless Brigitte drags him there.
Reinhardt Wilhelm / Reinhardt: Reinhardt has a tendency to overdramatise everything; from his speech to his stories. This applies too to his emotions, and he feels them too close to his heart as though his skin was made of paper. He struggles with his ability to regulate his emotions, and it's something he's aware of but views it as something positive, rather than negative. He wouldn't admit that it's his worst habit, but everyone around him would.
Brigitte Lindholm / Brigitte: Brigitte takes care of herself very well; she views the human body as a machine that needs rest, supplements, nutrition, etc. But her worst habit is remembering to drink when she's working on something or busy with a mission. The amount of times Angela has had to admit her for dehydration isn't even funny, and Reinhardt is always getting yelled at by Torbjorn for 'letting it happen to her'. It's one of those things where when Brigitte is focused on something, she forgets everything else going on.
Angela Ziegler / Mercy: Angela has a very bad problem with doomscrolling online. Once she starts, she cant stop even when she gets ads telling her to take a break. She doesn't necessarily enjoy it, and it keeps her up late into the night, but it's a distraction for her from everything going on in the world. Don't ask to see her app usage history; it'll entirely be instagram reels and tiktok with like 9hrs a day average usage.
Echo: Sometimes, Echo fails to match her responses to the mood of the situation. She tends to take a direct and neutral stance on everything, so her worst habit is that sometimes she comes off as though she's playing devil's advocate, when she isn't. She's just simply showing all aspects that the person she's talking to might not have considered. She's a very logical being, but the way in which she does this sometimes comes off negatively on other people.
Vivian Chase / Sojourn: With Vivian, I can imagine she has a bad habit of getting stuck in nostalgic loops. She likes to look back on the past, understand what happened and what went wrong, but if she lets herself do it too much or for too long, she lingers on her mistakes and it affects her mentally. Similarly to Mei, she feels survivors guilt and feels ashamed for the events in Canada that happened to her sister and niece years ago. Vivian loves a blast from the past, but struggles to regulate how far back to go and how much to think about it.
LĆŗcio Correia dos Santos / Lucio: Lucio has a very bad habit of staying up too late, working on music or plans for the next day, to the point where he misses sleep and is extremely groggy in the morning. It's something he gets distracted with and loses track of time with. It doesn't help either that he has time blindness and gets lost in the music.
Cole Cassidy / Cassidy: Smoking is his worst habit; everyone working in Overwatch will tell you that. He refuses to try vaping, and prefers cigars to anything else. His cough is disgusting at times, and he has nicotine rush every morning after his first cigar, which makes it hard for anyone to talk to him and get a response from him properly. It's something he has no intention of stopping, as he's here to live a good life not a long one, but everyone has an issue with it when he smokes around them because his favourite brand absolutely reeks.
Fareeha Amari / Pharah: Fareeha holds grudges too long; she struggles with forgiveness and moving forwards. She won't admit it, but it's something that affects her relationship to her family and previous friends. If she's wronged as well, it only takes that one moment for her to give up emotionally and mentally on that friendship. It's not rational, and she understands that, but it's something she views as another form of protection, like armour against people who could hurt her or abandon her.
Jean-Baptiste Augustin / Baptiste: Baptiste is a bad influence when it comes to drinking and has a bad habit of not knowing his own limit. To this day, he still wonders how he's the first one to be absolutely drunk when everyone else around him is barely tipsy (even after he's had 3 shots one after another of fireball on an empty stomach). He indulges in it too much and he doesn't know his own limit to drinking, so you can imagine Cole and Angela have had to comfort him while his head's in the toilet bowl.
Aleksandra Zaryanova / Zarya: Zarya has a tendency to give everyone grace and understanding, even when they don't deserve it. She gives people too many chances, and too many opportunities to use her. It's something she's working on, but she views the world in a more positive light than others and wants to keep the optimism she has for other people.
Hana Song / D.Va: Hana has been told for years she holds herself to too high standards with her work and efforts in Overwatch, and she works herself to the bone. It's something she doesn't view as wrong, but it impacts her body and mind SEVERELY. Angela and Brigitte have had several conversations about taking breaks and not pushing herself too hard with staying up late for work, skipping meals, exhausting herself on missions, etc. It's her worst habit and even she would agree, but she doesn't intend to change it when it gives her the results they need.
Bastion: Bastion's worst habit is getting distracted easily; he's like a kid in a candy shop sometimes with the places Overwatch takes him, and he loves to show Ganymede everything he finds and take them places he enjoyed. It's bothersome sometimes, especially if he's nowhere to be found on a mission because he's busy showing Ganymede the other birds near their temporary station. It is what it is though, and seeing Bastion happy and on their side is something they appreciate.

can u do like a bodyguard nat x popstar fem reader? maybe readers on tour. like huge sold out eras tour level. and nat's in charge of her security. maybe reader gets mildly irritated bc nat's walkie interrupts her all the time?
Tumblr media
bodyguard!nat x popstar!fem reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
nat initially applies for the job because the pay is really good!! and the responsibilities are manageable
howeverrr, she forgot to account for the fact that now she has to wait on you hand and foot, which shes obviously not very happy about. . .
upon first meeting, nat despises you. refers to you as ā€˜spoiledā€™ and ā€˜princessā€™ behind your back or under her breath allll the time knowing it pisses you off.
she loves music ā€” ā€œrealā€ music ā€” and the ā€œbubblegum synth pop bullshitā€ you sing (in her words) doesnā€™t count >:(
and yes, she knows sheā€™s being petty and isnā€™t really giving you a chance, but at this point she really couldnt care less. doing everything a so-called diva would ask of her sounds pretty fucking nightmarish
having to hear her voice in your ear at all times is reaaally starting to get on your nerves. you find that just hearing her voice from the walkie talkies makes you want to scream! and rip your hair out!! (i wonder whyā€¦)
but as the tour goes on, you two inevitably grow closer because . well sheā€™s supposed to be glued to your side at all times. and if thereā€™s one thing you can rely on nat to do, itā€™s her job
say what you want about that girl, but she always does her job and she does it well !!!!
bickering and endless eyerolls turn into more lighthearted banter and teasing jokes eeeeekk
going out to a cafe on your off day and sheā€™s accompanying you, and sheā€™s teasing you as you two occupy the small two-seater table with your cute little coffee cups.
( nat wears her hair tied up in a bun, sunglasses, cargo pants, and a leather jacket ā€” the androgynous outfit would throw any passer-by off >ā—”< )
ā€œi can see the headlines now: ā€˜has the princess found her dashingly handsome prince charming?!ā€™,ā€ she giggles, waving her hands up as she announces her tabloid headline. you almost spit out the coffee in your mouth in laughter. ā€œoh please, you wish. you know, youā€™re the only person who actually calls me that,ā€ you respond, setting your cup down. ā€œam i? well then, consider me honoured, princess.ā€
she starts showing up to your dressing room much earlier than when she needs to, just to spend more time talking and laughing with you <3
grows VERYY protective of you. likes physical touch with you a lot, just to remind you that youā€™re safe with her
sheā€™ll keep a hand on the small of your back, or when you guys are in more intimate settings sheā€™ll even hold your hand the whole way WAAAHDJS
sheā€™s your biggest fan!! while she canā€™t be present to watch any of your shows in entirety because sheā€™s on the job, she always tries to catch as much as she can & cheers super super loud !! (perpetually losing her voice)
sheā€™s secretly started streaming your music a lot just to hear your voice . . the rest of the yjs are like ?????? who is this and where did emo punk rock nat goā€¦ā€¦
(secretly has a folder of edits of you on tiktok that she just likes to scroll through sometimes šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«)
sometimes when the stress and pressure of being on tour ā€” not to mention the influx of hate comments online ā€” get to you, nat will always be there to comfort you and reassure you, showering you in compliments and praise
ā€œthey donā€™t know what the fuck theyā€™re talking about, okay?ā€ she says, her voice hushed. she found you sitting alone in your dressing room, doomscrolling under hate threads. she cups your face and continues, ā€œthey have nothing better to do with theirā€” their sad lives, and are just aimlessly taking it out on a big name. because, you are so much more than that, okay? fuck, iā€™d be unemployed without you!ā€ you canā€™t help but let out a soft laugh at that as nat laughs along, wiping your tears away with her thumbs.
admits to you that her impression of you has changed so much since youā€™ve both met. she thinks youā€™re one of the coolest people sheā€™s ever met and admires you so much. this girl ADORES YOU!!!
she cant stop rambling really sweet confessions to you and you eventually cut her off with a kiss <33
the poor girl takes a second to process whatā€™s happening, but the second she does she melts into the kiss, like sheā€™s been waiting her whole life for this hhhjfjdhfjsh
dating her would just include lots more stolen kisses (and morešŸ¤šŸ¤) in between shows, as well as extra protective nat 25/8. they will have to pry you out of her cold dead hands!!!
and ofc, a shit ton of media coverage, speculation, and tabloids to deal with, aaand maybe a new lover-esque album from you coming soon? šŸ™ˆ
Tumblr media
a/n: HIHI iā€™m so sorry this one took so longšŸ˜šŸ˜ but i hope this is kinda what you were asking for!

If youā€™ve been on TikTok at any point in the past six months, chances are youā€™ve stumbled across them, as I first did during a fairly routine doomscroll one night this summer. For me it started with two videos somewhat incongruously tagged #homeremodeling and #housedesign. One of them featured a CGI man summoning a baby phoenix outside of a tree that he planned to turn into an apartment. Then a robotic AI voice started to narrate how the CGI man, identified as ā€œLittle John,ā€ was going to build it. Over the next 90 seconds, Little John transformed the tree into a maniacally space-efficient luxury unit in an AI-generated ballet of flying galvanized square steel, ecofriendly wood veneer, and expansion screws.
The other video, featuring nearly identical CGI and the same hypnotically flat AI narrator, followed the story of a couple with a billion children that, like Little John, decided it was time to improve their home. And those two videos were only the tip of the galvanized steel iceberg.
There are hundreds of accounts posting these videos to TikTok right now, and theyā€™ve become immensely popular, racking up millions of views. Even the ā€œcharacterā€ of Little John has become a meme of his own, with people making skits where they pretend to be him.
The videos struck me as a fascinating case study of how TikTok trends have evolvedā€”or rather devolvedā€”over time. What was once an app full of human beings making content in conversation with each other has become a dizzying world where irony and sincerity, memes and spam, blur together into a slurry of bizarre content no one is quite sure what to do with. As I set out to discover who was making these videos, I assumed that lifting the rock would reveal an even stranger world of broken social networks, AI content farms, and shady engagement hacks, wiggling just beneath the surface of the web. Which it did! But stranger still, in the end, it turned out these videos hadnā€™t become huge as a TikTok trend at all.
In 2022, an account popped up on TikTok called @ā€‹ā€‹designer_bob. From the start, it exclusively posted videos with a specific format: Some kind of weird domestic issue must be solved with extreme home renovation, the action animated in a surreal CGI style with a spunky stock music soundtrack. Within a month, the account had a viral hit: a video about designing a bedroom for four children, which has been viewed more than 10 million times.
Designer Bobā€™s formula proved perfect for TikTokā€™s algorithm, which is constantly analyzing, in microseconds, what catches your attention and recalibrating to what it thinks you want to watch. Thereā€™s a hypnotic quality to these videos. ā€œThe storyline is just fucked up enough to grab your attention early on,ā€ says social media analyst Rachel Karten. And because thereā€™s a process happeningā€”a home renovationā€”the user canā€™t look away.
Once Designer Bobā€™s videos started going viral, hundreds of other accounts started posting similar content. One account called @dy02449xjp, which had been sharing clips from 2000s romcoms like The Proposal and Two Weeks Notice, switched over to weird home renovations in January 2024. That same month, one of their videos went exceptionally viral. Itā€™s been watched more than 44 million times.
Along the way, the aesthetic and style of these videos started to change. The early viral renovation videos from Designer Bob were silly but could sometimes be mistaken for genuine design content. Newer videos were more ludicrous, the renovations more fantastical, their action narrated by a droning AI voice. Thatā€™s just the way TikTokā€™s remix culture works, says Alex Turvy, who studies digital culture.
ā€œWeā€™re going to see trends like this become more and more absurd until they burn out,ā€ he says.
Thereā€™s even a spin-off meme specifically about ā€œgalvanized square steel,ā€ to the point where some users have questioned whether the whole meme is a viral marketing campaign for galvanized steel.
ā€œI think lore is a really good word to use here. Now the videos blow up and do well because there is lore around them,ā€ Karten says. ā€œLore sustains virality.ā€
The more I watched these videos, the more desperate I was to understand who was making them. In the case of Designer Bob, the account bio links to an online candle and crystal store run by a company based in China called Whisper Wisp. And the ā€‹ā€‹Designer Bob Facebook page lists Hong Kong as a base on the Page Transparency section. Still, it seems unlikely this is a covert marketing campaign for a candle shop. None of Whisper Wispā€™s social channels are nearly as popular as the Designer Bob account. (Whisper Wisp didnā€™t respond to any of my messages.)
Details about whoā€™s behind the Dy02449xjp account are even more scarce. There is a Facebook page with the same username sharing the same videos. Beyond that, nothing. No other connected accounts, no storefronts or identifying information. If thereā€™s a scam or an upsell coming, it hasnā€™t dropped yet. For now, at least, Dy02449xjp appears to be pursuing TikTok engagement for its own sake.
Many of these accounts use some variation of the name ā€œHome Designsā€ and similar logos of a small house, which strongly resemble the branding of an architecture and interior design program called HomeDesignsAIā€”a major clue, I thought, toward solving the mystery. I was able to track down HomeDesignsAIā€™s COO and cofounder, Denis Madroane. But he was just as confused as everyone else about how popular these renovation TikToks have become.
HomeDesignsAI is a Romania-based startup that launched in 2023. The app allows users to upload a photo of a room or floor plan and transform it using AI. Madroane says he started seeing TikToks that used HomeDesignsAI last year. He says he and his team thought they were pretty funnyā€”but theyā€™re not seeing much upside.
Madroane confirmed that Home-DesignsAI does have a TikTok account, though it doesnā€™t really participate in the memes. It has a little under 900 followers, and its biggest video has around 195,000 views. Which seems fineā€”until you compare it to the unofficial Home-DesignsAI accounts on TikTok. The biggest one, @homedesign369, has 2.4 million followers and is consistently getting millions of views per video.
ā€œOur official account is severely underperforming compared to the numbers averaged by user-generated content,ā€ Madroane concedes.
But as it turns out, none of the most viral Little John TikToks were made using HomeDesignsAI software. So, mystery unsolved. And before this summer, no one on TikTok seemed to know where these videos were coming from. That is, until Candise Lin, a Cantonese and Mandarin tutor based in the US, noticed the trend going viral and revealed the missing piece of the puzzleā€”at least for confused Americansā€”in a TikTok video of her own.
It turns out we havenā€™t actually been watching videos made by TikTok users. Theyā€™re coming from a completely different app. As Lin explains, these videos come from Bilibili, Chinaā€™s closest equivalent to YouTube. On Bilibili, Little John is known as 大壮, or Big John. ā€œGalvanized steelā€ is even a trending search term. According to Lin, there are two Bilibili users known for creating this kind of content, an account called ē–Æē‹‚č®¾č®”家, or Crazy Designer, and another called č®¾č®”åøˆēŽ‹å§Ø, or Designer Aunt Wang. I was able to find dozens of other accounts, as well.
The unhinged home renovation videos on TikTok are machine-translated versions of videos from Bilibili. Chinese content makes the jump across the Great Firewall like this fairly often. Videos downloaded from TikTokā€™s sister app Douyin are a regular presence on TikTok. But the fact that these were not made for English-speaking audiences would explain the robotic narrator, bizarre syntax, and Chinese iconography seen throughout.
After digging through Crazy Designerā€™s videos, I was able to find one of the videos I had come across on TikTok back in June, about a couple designing a house for a billion children. Crazy Designer titled it ā€œOne Billion Children per Room,ā€ and itā€™s part of a series, all with titles like ā€œA Million Children per Room,ā€ ā€œTwo Million Children per Room,ā€ and so on. After watching it on Bilibili and reading the comments underneath it, I started to realize what these videos are: Theyā€™re shitposts. This jaundiced real-estate porn is meant to satirize the housing crunch in cities like Hong Kong and Shanghai, and the commenters are all in on the joke.
In the end, it appears there isnā€™t any kind of scam or engineered marketing stunt here after all. Itā€™s just two cultures laughing at the same uncanny user-generated content, filtered through some perfunctory layers of AI translation and lost context. And according to Lin, Bilibili users are now aware of how popular Little John videos have become in the West. Theyā€™re mortified that Americans are watching.

Miss Seakicker HI! šŸ¦¦ anon here, I just wanted to pop in and ask a question but before that;
How have you been? Iā€™m loving the new theme and layout for your blog! I hope youā€™re drinking enough water and taking enough breaks. We canā€™t have Fertility archon Juju getting sick!
I started playing Tears of The Kingdom and thereā€™s a place called Joju-u-u Shrine in the game (we almost had Juju Shrine!) I went bra shopping earlier (nothing spicy, just needed some new ones).
Iā€™m not really sure how else to ask this but do you have any advice for when the insecurities about oneā€™s body image start to getā€¦loud? Like some days Iā€™ll feel good in a pair of pants because i fill them out really well but then thereā€™ll be bad days like the time i spent 2 hours on an online site buying a kazuha cosplay because I didnā€™t want to admit i was a size bigger. (I bought the bigger size in the end and that one fits like a glove)
Feel free to answer this whenever you like! - šŸ¦¦ anon
HELLOOOOOOO SWEETHEART GAH iā€™m very late in answering this because iā€™m just tryin to find the motivation to use tumblr consistently again, but i was thinking about this ask again today bc iā€™ve had it in drafts since you sent it to me. iā€™ve been working a ton but iā€™m alright; drinking water and working on eating healthier for myself šŸ˜Šā¤ļø what kinds of things do you think weā€™d do at a juju shrineā€¦ šŸ¤”šŸ‘€
as far as the insecurity part goes, honestly iā€™ve found that staying off the internet entirely on days where youā€™re maybe feeling a little worse about yourself is extremely beneficial. with how prevalent bodychecking and diet culture BS are on tiktok and instagram in particular and with how advanced filters and photoshop have gotten (remember when people considered it impossible to use filters/edits on videos? good times), taking a bit of a detox and staving off of doomscrolling rlly go a long way on days where i may not be feeling the best about myself. like, iā€™ve seen people recommend eating an entire block of cream cheese under the guise of health because keto influencers love spinning nonsense and trying to make you genuinely believe that an entire brick of cream cheese is inherently better for you than a single piece of bread for toast, lol.
at any rate, i think itā€™s good to remind yourself that you are real and your body is real and not everything you see online is realā€” most people are able to (rightfully) internalize that they shouldnā€™t compare their bodies to digital art or anime characters, and i think that mentally should extend to just about any 3D picture you see onlineā€” while iā€™m not inherently anti-photoshop or anything like that, i DO think itā€™s harmful for these people who participate in photoshopping their pics or using filters to pass it off as (A) all natural genetics and/or (B) simple diet and exercise because no amount of genetics, diet, or exercise are gonna give you a 13 inch waist and 42 inch hips. even pictures of real life people can be twisted to the point where they might as well be fictitious, but your body is real when you look at it and real in anything and everything you wear, so why worry about how it stacks up compared to a picture thatā€™s certainly edited?
i first read this on pinterest in like high school but itā€™s honestly sound advice and something thatā€™s really stuck with meā€” we donā€™t get mad at our feet for being too small/too big/too wide/too narrow when shoes donā€™t fit, we just buy a different sizeā€” shouldnā€™t the same idea extend to all our clothes? our bodies arenā€™t made to fit clothes, clothes are made to fit our bodiesā€” and buying a bigger cosplay to fit you better isnā€™t a fault of yours nor your bodyā€™s. you got this ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø

hello,, i really want to get involved with the jiraiblr community because it genuinely feels like a nice place to reside in and i feel it really would help me see that im not alone or anything but iā€™m really young ? (13) ive been struggling a lot mentally and idk just blogging your entire heart out just seems like a
āœ¦ . 怀āŗ 怀 . āœ¦ . 怀āŗ 怀 . āœ¦
alright, so. i wrote part two first - i think this is a two part question, really. you're asking someone who has been on tumblr for about as long as you've been alive, so i went pretty ham on the second one being tumblr-specific please stay safe stuff. this part is jirai specific.
āœ¦ . 怀āŗ 怀 . āœ¦ . 怀āŗ 怀 . āœ¦
if you're struggling, and the community seems helpful, then i get it. when i was your age i was in similar communities. being surrounded by people who understood, but also LISTENED, did save my life more than once.
some people in this community, like every community, are toxic. some people will try to outright encourage you to get worse. encourage you to wallow. encourage you to feel poorly. you need to have a balance - don't spend all of your time doomscrolling through people's negativity. it's helpful to know you're not alone when you're struggling, but make sure to take some time to go for a walk. or just sit somewhere outside, if you can. get some air. watch some vines or tiktoks or something. look at pictures on pinterest. keep a main blog just for your other interests. do art, or read, or listen to music. don't narrow your life down to just a few things - getting sucked in to any one thing isn't good for you and you'll stagnate, no matter what it is.
some people will give you shit about it. i am an adult, and people tell me i am too young to have experienced xyz ALL THE TIME. fuck them. you know yourself best. if that's your experience, if you feel like a part of the subculture, if you're struggling... only you can tell you who you are and how you feel.
i think that a lot of people overlook the mental health struggles of kids and teens. i think a lot of people see mental illness at something that just pops up one day as opposed to something that brews your whole life. i, as a person, tend to believe other people's own self expression. if you tell me your gender is like a fairy's kiss, so you use fae/faer neos and you're part of the trans community, i believe that you know yourself best and i believe you. if you're 16, and you feel like you have BPD traits and you relate to BPD posts on here, but psychs insist you have to be 18 to be diagnosed, i believe you know yourself best and i believe you. i have no dog in this race, so to speak. i believe that you are the arbiter of your own experiences.
i don't think, personally, that we should have to suffer in silence. if you feel like a ticking time bomb, if people treat you poorly because you're mentally unwell, if you feel like people screaming out into the void sound like they know how you're feeling. that's fine. i'd rather someone be supported, at the end of the day.
i've been using the internet like a diary for a very long time. since i was younger than you are now. it helps. i physically journal too, but it really helps to post yelling into the void and know that i am not alone. if you want to blog your insides out - a pain shared is half a burden. it does help to know that you're not the only one that feels that way. and if you find this community helpful, or relatable, by all means, welcome.
a lot of jirai do post NSFW topics, like harm, drug use, etc. but knowing about these things existing isn't going to make you do them, and you have to be responsible in avoiding anything that isn't right for you. i say this in my other part, but block people and tags appropriately, and stay safe no matter where you are on the internet.

so i'm really struggling with executive dysfunction right now and i've turned to doomscrolling for hours upon hours through insta reels which isn't even particularly fun... so i tried to find a way to cut down on it without having to delete insta all together and i found a great app that disables certain features in social media apps and i just thought i'd share it with yall! it's called "stayfree - screen time". the logo is a circle in rainbow colours with a checkmark in the middle.
i blocked reels and the explore tab on insta and any time you try to access those it just shows you a pop up that the feature is blocked and closes the whole app. so no cheating by putting in a pin code or whatever.
they also have options for tiktok, youtube and snapchat as well as a general time limit feature for specific apps! check it out. it's free!

Doomscrollingā„¢ļø
Tumblr media
Source: Unknown
Doomscrolling.
Like most people, I'm definitely guilty of doing this, although I generally tend to avoid any doom and gloom as much as possible, since I want to focus on the positive aspects of life, as well as being able to get the most out of it in a way that suits me.
I think I became emotionally and spiritually exhausted with doomscrolling roughly in 2020, when I was constantly bombarded with an endless amount of doom, what with COVID, mass shootings, protests, and countries bordering on wars (amongst loads of other depressing and negative things) basically happening all the time, all at once.
These pockets of doom kept popping up in places where I'd least expect it, and with a whole army of self-proclaimed thought leaders and armchair politicians all eager to offer their two worthless pennies at situations that they knew nothing about, it basically made it a lot worse than it actually was, to the point where it was impossible to escape all of the doom and gloom, since it was literally everywhere, even in all the nooks and crannies.
Nowadays, I just simply ignore all the doom and gloom by focusing on the people who are genuinely doing productive things on social media, although this can sometimes be a lot easier said than done.
The only thing that I obsessively check at the moment is LinkedIn, since it offers a way to connect with other people within the industry, as well as the fact that a lot of people on there tend to take their careers seriously, and tend to be a lot more open minded and positive than the people that might be on Reddit.
However, LinkedIn does still offer glimmers of doom (usually in the form of mass layoffs in the tech industry (I worry about this since I work in that area), AI taking over everything (it's all soulless bullshit, so I tune it out), and that being a woman of colour apparently means that you're screwed (but in a space that's dominated by extroverted white guys, I kind of expect that), which all does have an affect on me), but I tend to use this as a form of motivation to do better in my career, since spite can become a great motivator.
The reason that I'm improving the curation front in my spare time is because I already have a minimum viable product which I know I can improve upon (instead of starting entirely from scratch), and is something that I have the potential to eventually work on full time, so in a way, I've still got a back up plan.
I've realised that AI is now here to stay, and that I can easily spot an AI generated image or piece of text from a mile away, although I'm worried that my writing style itself might now sound AI generated, which isn't great if you're trying to get your point across in as much detail as possible, but doing it in a way so that you still sound human.
I also don't want my South Asian heritage (as well as the fact that I look visibly asian, like most people who happen to be in the same demographics) or the fact that I happen to be a woman get in the way of my career, since those two things lie beyond my control, and there's literally nothing I can do about it apart from embracing those characteristics without being overly patronising about it, so to me, they're trivial and shouldn't get in the way of anything that isn't directly linked to those things.
To me, Instagram and Reddit are the worst offenders, so I try to avoid them as much as possible since they absolutely stink of negativity, not to mention that they're the reasons why I ended up being overly critical of anything to ever exist in the first place.
Instagram can serve as a form of inspiration, but it crosses a very thin line, since it's boring at best, but can quickly become depressing if I'm not careful with it.
TikTok? I'm not even going to go there, since it's basically Instagram on a lot of steroids and crack.
Facebook and Twitter? They're dead and gone, since they were so political that I just gave up with them, but I'm much better off without them.
YouTube's okay, but I now associate it with watching TV in the living room, so to me, it's basically a free streaming service where I can watch anything and deal with ads popping up every two seconds, not to mention that it's more of a social activity that I do with others.
For now, I'll just focus on LinkedIn (as well as on improving both of my sites) and forget about all of the other platforms.

Hello! What are the RO's favorite social media platforms (and why)?
considering i've only partially thought about the specifics of popular social media in oracle (so far all i have is that the main one, scry, is like if you combined the connection aspect of linkedin, the nosy aspect of facebook, the forum aspect of reddit and like, the vapid news aspect of any tabloid) then for this i'll just do what they would like if they used social media in this time and universe
hebe: mainly on art twitter. posts her art on tumblr too but prefers the exposure of twitter. gets into her fair share of arguments over people reposting without credit and blatantly misinterpreting her favourite characters. complains about the toxic people but likes commissioning other artists to support them and deep diving into constructive criticisms. uses facebook solely to share pictures of her brother's dogs or to shade her sister. posts on instagram with windo and MC a lot, has an aesthetic theme
windo: goes on reddit but specifically the redditships/tifu/aita realm, occasionally the nosleep type subreddits. gets sucked in. sometimes posts in them so people can laugh at the stupid things he's done, e.g. TIFU by offering to hang a priceless painting for a friend. decided to improvise when i realised i didn't know what i was doing. gives advice on the relationship posts. knows there's a lot of fake posts but operates on the suspension of disbelief to connect with strangers. also has an instagram w/ a mixture of goofy, friendship and fashion posts, and a work twitter to give commentary on political articles
sailor: a finsta to scroll meme instagrams. they actually laugh out loud at some of the bad jokes they come across. doesn't have tiktok so they can sit on their high horse in disdain for it but has seen millions in the reels tab anyway. never posts or comments, just likes. they send the MC memes but not through dms or anything, literally will get up and show them irl if they find something they think they'd laugh at like a cat bringing you a dead mouse. don't really do public social media profiles because they value their privacy.
jelly: their finsta that they just post bullshit on. they have like 3 followers and all their posts are like a slew of every thought that pops into their head at 2am. their celebrity crushes, things that made them laugh for 5 mins for no reason, their take on soulmates, on fictional characters, nostalgia posts, dog pics, them listening to one direction, 5 selfies in a row of different angles, drunk posts. their public social medias are all very put together and well curated tho. pretty pics and makeup #ads on insta. eloquent linkedin. no facebook
twenty: barely uses any. dislikes seeing too many opinions that he didn't ask for. had a phase where he used to troll scammers (and sometimes just random people to be a menace) on habbo hotel. wouldn't admit it but he likes taking uquizzes. what kind of emo are u. what horror movie trope would u be. what colour would u be. 9/10 heā€™s not even happy about the results but he just goes :/ and moves onto the next one. has seen like 5 total tiktoks and only knows what a tiktoker is because jelly has explained it
noir: doomscrolls on various sites, mostly twitter and douban. hates these sites with a passion but continues to consume all the depressing content anyway as just one of many shitty habits. had a sadboy tumblr (because OF COURSE HE DID) in his teens that is semi-common knowledge but old enough news that itā€™s not really something people bring up to tease him about. black and white big gifs with text, angsty textposts, classics like that. pretends to care about his linkedin but god if itā€™s not the most boring thing ever to him. posts view pics on instaĀ
honey: honestly probably normal twitter. her dn is just honey and her @ is something generic and she shares her opinions on condiments and mundane things like that. not really interested in discourse or fandom spaces and is not the most up to date in meme culture. sheā€™s busy a lot, so she doesnā€™t have much time to spend online. watches those calming asmr baking videos on youtube. in her teens i think she wouldā€™ve been a fan of acoustic cover channels. had a facebook when she was younger but deactivated it because she never used it
jareth: his secret letterboxd. actually reviews movies impartially and passionately. nobody would ever guess it was him. not a mega popular account, but pretty credible. likes to take advantage of the fact heā€™s not taken too seriously by certain demographics, so he shares his more comprehensive opinions anonymously. gets genuinely irritated by most troll reviews. some are funny enough to let slide. he had a wattpad once but NOBODY knows nor will they ever know because he would die of embarrassment if that came out. sometimes says annoying shit on twitter but nothing too controversial or topical
ludo: itā€™s not really a social media but like......ebay. he can scroll ebay for hours whether heā€™s window shopping or actually wants to buy something. likes to look in the antique section especially. the habit started because he grew up with barely any money and used to curiously browse the kind of obscure stuff rich collectors liked to buy, but by the time he had income of his own (albeit not that much) heā€™d kind of convinced himself that he understood why people wanted this junk. now itā€™s like an addiction. he also has a twitter thatā€™s more clued into memes and references but is still pretty mundane.Ā
monty: her instagram is very well curated. meticulous, even, with selfies, fashion, meals, more ā€˜relatableā€™ backstage pictures, etc. itā€™s definitely a little too perfect but sheā€™s proud of her aesthetic eye, and her public image isnā€™t fake so much as presented in a way that she gets to keep her personal things to herself. is the kind of celebrity to do instagram lives just to make her fans happy. made a youtube channel due to popular demand but doesnā€™t really have a clear plan for it, so itā€™s mostly just q&a where she talks about her favourite characters, funny set anecdotes and her met gala looks. jareth appears on it sometimes to talk about their dramaĀ greenwood creek and he suggests meme reviews and things like that

not the same anon but i thought it was interesting that the person shared they loved how transparent and more performative kpop is. and how kpop is a brand more than a band. i feel like the push has been the opposite, especially for the 4th gen. there's more content for idols to show "their real personalities". also, with more and more idols producing their own group's music, its a way to show that these idols are not "brands" and are "true artists" (whatever that means). like we see more behind-the-scenes of idols and their "participation" in their work to help push this agenda. maybe i read/understood that post wrong?
but i definitely agree that i wish we see more from the creative teams that help build these idols. taeyeon's/hyuna's stylist has a youtube channel and even though she only shows v small glimpses of her work, it was still interesting to see.
no i think you understood it right! i didn't really touch on it in that particular post but yes there is absolutely a push to 'make things more authentic' in kpop at the moment that runs counterintuitively to the nature of the work. i've mentioned it a lot in my bts posts and maybe in a couple other places here and there but the whole movement towards portraying the idol industry as something closer to like how indie artists work is a) bringing down the quality of the work, b) disingeniuous to everyone who works behind the idols, and c) it blurs the line between personal life and job. entertainment companies now are pushing the whole idols as real-people-musicians-type deal because it brings the industry closer to how the western pop industry is perceived, where the pervading myth is that all major pop stars are just very talented people that just 'happened' to make it big. i know i'm also maybe blowing the artistic standards of this a bit out of proportion because at the end of the day, the idol persona is meant to be the product that's marketed to consumers, but personally i find that boring and capitalistic and a pretty big indicator that celebrity culture has destroyed our collective human desire to seek out good stories/art. like we obviously still do it, considering how scandals and drama always generate a huge amount of attention, but we've lost the ability to understand that that doesn't have to be real. i see lots of people on youtube making videos about why drama channels and the such are so popular and like.......it's literally because human beings like stories. we've just replaced sitting around a firepit/in an alehouse/going to the theatre/reading a book even with doomscrolling through tiktok/twitter/youtube or whatever, without telling anyone that the content doesn't have to be real. idk i think i'm going off on a really obtuse and kind of pretentious tangent here but like. this is my whole thing about the lack of public arts education. and not like, learning how to read music or how to paint or whatever, because i think that's what people think arts education means; i mean education about the history and function of art in human culture. i'm very privileged to have been well educated, but even i, who have had a lengthy arts-dominant education, didn't realize just how old and how transcendant and how human storytelling is until the fourth year of my THEATRE undergrad. like people will say it all the time, but no one ever backs it up or SHOWS it to you. almost every culture has a form of storytelling/theatre that involves specific character archetypes and usually masks: ancient greek theatre, several forms of chinese theatre and dance including peking opera, indonesian shadow puppet theatre, japanese noh theatre, korean talchum, italian commedia dell'arte, english and european mystery and miracle plays. it is literally everywhere. even in forms that don't necessarily involve strict archetypes like kabuki theatre still have traditions in which the actors go by stage names which are passed down through schools or families for generations. we know and have known for literal thousands of years that good stories are not real and they do not have to be to be valuable. the idol industry (and celeb culture as a whole) is like, a weird twisted funhouse mirror: you are obviously and clearly doing a job but also you're not allowed to ever say or acknowledge that you're doing a job; you have to make art (or 'content') but the quality and content of the art doesn't matter; you have to be real but you can't be human. it's really fucked up and dangerous and unsustainable and i truly think it's rotting our brains.
#kpop questions#idk what this is im so sorry if this doesnt make sense#it just makes me SO sad that we are just unable to recognize the value of the fakeness of storytelling#that tropes are good actually. and that you can just. believe in a thing for a while.#idk this is not going a place that really makes any sense but human brains are not logical#stop looking for logical truth and start feeling emotional ones#i think we've just like. forgotten how to catharsis. as a collective#in the west at least. like just go watch a really sad thing on purpose to cry and you'll feel better i promise#idk idk idk i just feel like there's a lot of binding up but no release#maybe i should start a performance meta tag so these are all easier to find#performance meta#text#answers#OKAY SORRY im doing a tag rant because i forgot about the second part of your ask but#thank u for linking! i didnt know she had a channel that's great!#but i was thinking about how you phrased it as saying how 'it shows very small glimpses of her actual work'#when in reality like........driving and sitting in waiting rooms and organizing jewelry is like......a big part of the actual job#i know i hype up being a designer as like a cool job but really. its kinda boring.#there's so much waiting and driving. like so much. and also a lot of stuff is internal/difficult to film#i think ppl think that the whole trying clothes on a performer is most of the job but its not. also i think#theres a lot of curiousity around the fitting process? because it never gets shown? and tbh it never will get shown#bc privacy issues obvs. but even if that wasnt a thing a fitting can still be one of the most intimate experiences you can have#its different from something like getting pants hemmed or a suit tailored#a costume design fitting is an extended negotiation of consent and comfort through the medium of clothing#a conversation about a character while also being deeply personal and vulnerable. i dont really know how to describe it#its not platonically or romantically intimate its just. intimate. the act of dressing someone is intimate#for the person being dressed and also for the person dressing. your body might not be vulnerable in the same way#but your ideas are. you're exposing your way of thinking to someone for their judgement#i know there's a lot of ppl that think that clothes r clothes and bodies r bodies and we should stop putting so much emphasis on it but#its SO much more complicated than that. you cant break it down that simply
