Thinking about Terios when Doleon decides to drag him into the hivemind for obedience (long story esque-rant nobody asked for based on literally a sentence I wrote in Terios' lore post bc I’m still too lazy to write an actual fanfic out of Terios’ story somehow. So...if you're interested, here it is!)
Shadow, Rouge, Tails, and all the other heroes are approaching the comet. Doleon starts to panic wondering why or how they even dared to try and attack, but then he stops to look over at Terios, who is just standing behind him looking more afraid than he’s ever looked before. He immediately accuses Terios of leading them here.
Terios, of course, starts panicking even more. By this point, he already knows the heroes, and Doleon sure as hell knows he’s been around them too many times to count by now. He starts insisting he has no idea why they’re here, but he can’t lie to Doleon. His thoughts…he can hear everything.
Even so, Terios continues to insist that he knows nothing about this. This angers Doleon, but he keeps his composure. He goes over to Terios. “You know nothing about this? None of it is your doing? Well if that’s the case…then I’m sure you’ll have no trouble fighting them off, will you?”
Terios freezes. He’s out of ways to save himself and Doleon only trapped him in a deeper hole of uncertainty. He knew. Terios knew he did. He thought he was safe when he went to the heroes and they planned to finally team up against the common enemy and his deception. Terios doesn’t respond, and Doleon grabs his shoulder with a painful grip.
“I’ll ask you again, kid, since it all apparently fell on deaf ears. If you aren’t lying to me…go fight them off.”
Soon enough, not knowing what else to do, Terios’ fight or flight instincts kick in, and he straight up just punches Doleon to get back. Ooh, was that not a good idea. He was only acting like he didn’t know before to see if Terios would cave in, but now? It was too obvious to keep up the oblivious act.
Terios, shaking with fear and panting for breath, keeps his fists held up with low confidence, staring Doleon dead in the eyes as he tells him “I won’t…I won’t do it. I won’t fight them…but I’ll fight you if I have to. I know they will…I know Shadow will…but if I really need to…I’ll join him. I’ll join all of them.”
Doleon simply smirks at the statement. “Tch…poor thing. You really think you have a choice here? That you’re the one in charge now? Those mortals have done horrors to your development, haven’t they? Oh well…I did it before, I can do it again. But y’know? I’m starting to think that’s not enough for you.”
Terios can only stare in confusion and rising anxiousness, but it’s then that he feels a sharp,  stinging pain in his head. It’s terrible, but he holds in the urge to show he’s in pain. He was taught this way. No screaming, no crying, no nothing. Just silence as he feels himself weaken and he drops to the floor, on his knees and covering his face with his hands. The dark area around them starts to illuminate as Terios begins to spark his electric green in a mess of concealed emotion.
“See, this is what happens when you mess with someone with more power. More control. You can’t win if you never had a chance to begin with.”
But Terios doesn’t say anything back. The pain is getting worse, and now there’s voices everywhere, forming in his mind with the image of a thousand eyes, all staring down at him, never once blinking. They are faint, but many. So this is what the hivemind sounds like…
And it’s sickening.
But they’re stronger than him. They are more than him. More power…more control…
He belongs with them.
It’s where he’s always belonged.
He’ll be safer here.
This is all he needs.
This is home.
Louder.
Repeat.
Repeat.
REPEAT.
Until fate is accepted.
Mindless and obedient.
Just as the others.
Perfection.
