made the realization my vampire story would work best as a video game and now i can't stop thinking about it
#personal#like. vtm meets cyberponk. do you understand#it would be very focused on prioritizing... because you do play as a fully established character#but you get a bunch of jobs to take care of and you have to decide what you do first and most importantly how you solve it#you can combine certain jobs to do at once to save yourself time and effort but everything you do comes with consequences#if you ignore a problem for too long or deal with it poorly it will come back to bite you in the ass later. you can lose friends and such#basically you have it all from the start and then gradually like. work your way towards a single ending#locking yourself out of other paths because of the choices that you make etc etc and so on#friendships can help you out but they can also get in the way of other things so you have to think about like#how far you're willing to let yourself get distracted. but also no distractions is also a bad way to go at it because you'll end up alone#it would have a wide variety of endings but i suppose the 'canon' one would be the one where everything works out#because of the whole already established character thing. and also this is not real this is my story so i can do what i want#if it was an actual video game it wouldn't have a canon ending but it's never gonna happen so i can say it has a canon ending#but yeah you can play as heavenly the vampire hunter or as sun the vampire and then you get cool vampire abilities :]#i do like the idea of romance availability but they're different depending on who you play as#valentine can be romanced by both but he's a little brat so idk if you'd want that#isaac can only be romanced by heavenly because isaac is a gay man. valeska can be romanced by sun only because#valeska and heavenly are exes. so you can have a one night stand with her as heavenly and then she ghosts you LMAO#you can go into clubs... you can play carousel with npcs. it would be a very immersive experience#if you hang out at certain clubs too much then other vampire factions will be warier of you when you visit their club instead#you can forge alliances to be allowed into certain areas in town. you can disguise yourself. you have to hide your weapons#there's actual ways you can research locations or people involved in gigs so you can prepare yourself properly and potentially like#learn new things that open up a new way to deal with a situation#sometimes you have to wait until nighttime to be able to go somewhere because it's quieter around those hours. or vice versa#sometimes you have to wait a few days before someone can meet with you but if you miss the meeting you have to reschedule#and then you have to wait even longer. and some quests don't give you that much time so then you'd have to improvise#being spotted in a location can be dealt with by wiping security footage / killing the person who saw you. or just reloading your save#but if you've been spotted and you don't take care of it then that will ALSO have consequences. etc etc and so on#difficulty level in the game would determine how generous the game is surrounding stealth / time for quests / resilience of the guy you pla#and it wouldn't like. necessarily turn enemies into bullet sponges because that's lazy. it's much more fun to change other things

#prince's gaming tag#there were little LITTLE things before this but this was the most prominent#to be fair tho this happens near the end of Jumin's route and we saw Seven have a breakdown after seeing Unknown#who said 'Rika told him' about his current name and RFA#so i think for some people they can start coming up with theories that Rika is with Unknown#or at least she's not dead#especially Yoosung's route casts doubt on it bc he brings up valid points that her 'suicide' didnt make sense#and yea he was annoying about it but he was right!!!!!! unfortunately he'll wish he wasnt#tho when i first played i didnt see it coming but im the type to go with the flow so i found out when the reveal happened#but playing this part again knowing the twist its like wow. she had this idea from this far back#ofc it was her dog's death that acted as the catalyst for creating mint eye

#olive.txt#squealing giggling kicking my feet as if i havent seen it before#really thought it was a glitch apparently it’s not#had her meet dammon but no upgrade#also did some things she disapproved of#i haven’t done a single quest i’m just playing dress up w mods#i did beeline to recruit her very early tho thats the only thing i can think of that caused this#karlach really saw thru the forth wall and did a karlux speed run for me#she’s not even high enough level to get her barbarian piercings for the screenies omg#IM NOT COMPLAINING THIS IS VERY VERY FUNNY#also got flirty shadowheart dialogue that i hadn’t gotten until act 2 my first playthrough#idk i’ve never had the issue in my game of every companion (besides gale) flirting#i’ve done a ton of long rests and every single one has been a scene i’ve never seen#the game rlly doesn’t make it obvious you should rest constantly or you’ll miss so many scenes#pacing might not be great bc then there will be periods where you go 10s of hrs without a single new camp interaction#it’s fascinating

in general i think im really tired of kirby antagonists that are like “ohhhh this is the main antagonist- actually they’re just being possessed and they’re not actually responsible for their actions at all”
#…. i think thats why fanon dedede has started to annoy me sm sorryyyyyyyy#but really its just annoying seeing people get hostile towards any interpretation of dedede thats not kirbys bestie or dad#and that he was only ever antagonistic because he was possessed#like no he sucked before and he slowly improved and helped kirby of his own accord later! theres a character arc!#and hes a rival to kirby and will fight him but he’ll fight for the greater good too#leongar was eh to me because i saw his deal coming from a mile away. i knew he was gonna be the decoy antagonist as soon as he was onscreen#i knew it was gonna be a corruption scenario again so i just didnt bother getting attached because i already knew his full arc#i think hyness is the one who truly irritates me the most though because hes the most disrespectful one and it weakens the whole game for me#like. i get what they were doing. the friend hearts purify everyone and bring out the best in everyone#and i dont really care for stuff thats like ‘these are Fundamentally Bad people and these are Fundamentally Good people’’#but god damn it you dont even play as the stupid motherfucker. cant he be the ONE example of someone you cant chuck a heart at?#we already get something satisfying in the ‘’we can save the worst people’’ department with the void battle#why cant kirby just offer the heart to hyness only for hyness to bitterly reject it and fly off#i wouldnt be this irritated if hyness wasnt portrayed as a literal abuser?? someone who takes advantage of other peoples love for him?#his boss fight literally reflects this with how he forcibly controls the mage sisters and uses their bodies as weapons and forces them into#friend attack combos against their will. he is someone using the jamba hearts power to use the people around him#it wouldve been so potent and harrowing to leave his character on that note. but nah he was also corrupted or whatever and hes Fundamentally#Good. dont think about it!#hes also way too similar to haltmann again which just rubs salt in the wound for me. except this time he doesnt die horribly. yay.#like goddamn at least susie wasnt literally being abused by haltmann. she was there of her own accord and had her own motives#like i dont find it tragic when zan is desperately trying to save hyness and bring him back or whatever. i think she should get the fuck out#i find it tragic for HER and not in the way the game intended#im aware im talking about a game for 5 year olds but still. if they were gonna try to tackle heavy shit then they should commit#or at least play it like the dark matter trilogy when the stories werent as insane#echoed voice

#wjatevr. i dont care#no actually i do care. its about morishige how can i not care#i saw a very interesting take on why morishige chases yuka (not the tutorial idea. thats also interesting though)#something about how he was protecting her and he was never going to harm her#and i was like huh. maybe i misunderstood because i played the game when i was 11#and then i realized i literally played it last week#i cant help but disagree? yeah he wasnt planning on hurting her. it makes the whole chase scene very funny especially if you get caught#he keeps repeating the same thing and me and my sister joke about it all the time lol#but anyways. i think that even in the manga he wouldnt have hurt her even though he hints at his intent being more malicious than in game#i love this scene because i love hearing people talk about why the fuck he did this#let me talk about the manga instead for a moment actually i think this scene is much funner there#he stops for a moment when yuka stops crying before he breaks into this very obviously malicious grin#like he was EXCITED. the darkening had already startrd to show and its very clear while hes chasing her#the whole time he was just messing with her. he wasnt planning to harm her in the manga either#because he literally catches up to her. and he could've caught up to her multiple times had he not been taking pictures as she ran#all he did when he caught up to her was whisper in her ear. so#yeah. he wasnt going to kill her or injure her like in the anime. but does that mean he had any good intentions?#im not sure how this could be described as him simply helping her#and i could be remembering wrong but doesnt he somewhat explain himself in book of shadows?#i remember him saying something about him just having fun and enjoying how scared she was#so ive always just seen it as him enjoying the rush he got from chasing someone weaker than him#because it was partially the darkening right?#im not one to say that morishige is inherently evil or always had a huge interest in gore or anything. becausw its not true#but i dont want to deface his character by warping his intentions to seem less malicious#i need to get a fucking journal this is getting out of hand#finn.txt

Thinking abt maria again and making myself sad
#ramblings#i wish we got to see more of what she was like before she died#like the sonic channel pieces featuring her but in the games#just little moments that show off more of her personality and humanize her more#and show more of her relationship with shadow#to make her death more impactful y'know#like i know she's more than just a person. she's a symbol for shadow's innocence#and her literal death represents the metaphorical death of his innocence#but she can be a fully fledged out character while also doing that i think#and it's honestly such a missed opportunity for them to not have developed her more#that's kinda the real tragedy of her and shadow's stories tbh. we just don't know her as well as we could#i'm saying this knowing i haven't played or watched a full cutscene comp of shth but like#from what i know i don't think we get to learn THAT much abt her in that game do we?#i don't think there was much more shown of her beyond what we already saw in sa2#could be wrong tho

i finally went ahead and finished the main totk story today (yes i was making it last lmao) and had a thought while watching the ending cutscenes and remembering the fact that they recently said they had no dlc plans
(which to be clear is fine by me. I love that they consider the game/story complete (i agree) and would rather they didn't add dlc without having any real need or desire to, solely for money and because some people just demand *more*. I only want more if it is made with love and passion and care for the story and game, not just for the sake of it.)
but. but if they were to do a dlc. remember how it was originally an idea for skyward sword that you would be able to play through zelda's part of the story as well as link's?
wouldn't playing through zelda's side of the story in totk be perfect for a dlc? It's not adding on or creating any extraneous storyline, it's exploring an already established one, just in places we just didn't see as much of in the main game. zelda had a whole adventure of her own in the past that we only saw snippets of. one complaint I had about totk is that I do wish the ancient sages had been expanded on a little, at least given names, and/or their faces actually being shown in game, so they didn't just feel like cardboard cutouts only there to serve a purpose and with no personality or character of their own, and that could also be addressed with this.
given it was considered for skyward sword it's not like it's unprecedented, and it seems to me like the desire for playable zelda has only grown since botw/totk. if they did change their mind about adding any dlc that is what i would like to see from it!!
#as ppl have said before tho like as we saw in aoc... they don't like to make games/stories where you can't 'win' in the end#idk if being a dlc or side story or prequel or w/e would make any difference to that but i do think it's a shame#if that were to stop an interesting story i'd love to hear more about being told#who knows. maybe it even culminates with you as zelda in that final phase of the battle with link so it is a 'win' ending after all#i was just thinking about it a lot at the end when zelda talks a bit about what she experienced. and we only see snapshots#when it was an entire adventure of her own for her. i would love to be able to see it in more detail. is it likely no. but a girl can dream#totk spoilers//#alex plays totk
