Ryan: The number one thing? [sighs] I'm trying to think of something I actually use every day. [visibly struggles with the question] …. Ryan: Oh my god. Yeah, uh, Burt's Bees is good because you do use that every day. I've seen— Shane: Something sort of trivial. You know? Steven: Yeah! Shane: Like, car. Uh, you know. 'I need car.' You know? 'Shoe. I need shoe.' You know? Ryan: I mean, obviously, the number one thing would be your iPhone. [shrugs] But. Steven: [has had Enough] Okay! That—that's nobody can live without their iPhone. Ryan: [activates argument mode] You know you could! Shane: I could have said, you know— Steven: It's very difficult Shane: —pencil or uh. Steven: Yeah! Ryan: [trying again] Let me think. Shane: What do you got? Think of something, like, little. Ryan: This actually goes into something— Steven: Why is this so hard for you, Ryan?! Ryan: —well, because I—the thing is, I always marvel at people in those videos, or, like, especially: 'Here's everything I do in a day!' 'Cause one of my big things— Shane: They do so much! Ryan: —is I— it is impossible for me to stick to any type of routine. Shane: [wheezes] Steven: [Knowing] Yeah, I know. Ryan: And it's really a problem! Shane: You're just white-knucklin' it, through every day of your life. Ryan: I am! It's fuckin—I was like, if I could get a routine then I won't have to have all these decisions— Shane: Yeah. Ryan: —but what happens is: I'll get into a routine for like a good month. I'll be working out, I'll be meditating, journaling, I—I'll be going to bed at a reasonable time, eating well. And then, inevitably, something will happen. Like, for instance, recently I pulled my lat when I was working out. Steven: Ohhh. Shane: Fuckkk. Ryan: And what happens is, is when one leg of the routine goes, the entire thing topples over. It's like, I guess I won't eat well, I guess—I guess I can't meditate and journal. I guess I will just stay up till 2 A.M. and watch bullshit on my phone. So, like, I—and then I'll feel bad—and I'll do that for about a month—and I'll feel bad and I'll be like 'ah fuck, I got to get back into it'. So I'll get back into the routine for a week—a month—and the—the cycle! Just repeats! Over and over again! Steven: I can see why you cried in Making Watcher— Ryan: uh Steven: —in 2021. Ryan: Yeah! And—and—and now I—to ask, like, what's something I use every day? I was like, 'Fuck, I wish there was something.' Jeans? [laughs] I don't— Steven: Alright, alright. I'll just give my answer. Shane: I think all of your answers have— Ryan: [still trying] Toothbrush? Shane: —built up to a quality picture of you. Matt: Yeah. It seems like you can't live without stress.

PILE 1
Instantly, I'm getting strong Leo energy here . I feel that your future spouse's love language is more on the physical touch and quality time spent together . I feel that you guys are gonna be having a lot of passionate love making in the bedroom .
This is someone who treasures every moment spent with you. I feel that they may not look like the kind or really sweet talk. But they are hella romantic and gonna notice every single little things about you.
I feel that both of you love travelling and be out in the nature more. So do see them bring you out more for walks sitting by bench and bringing you out to See the stars .
You may catch sometimes staring at you more often but not in the creepy way rather than in adoring way. I feel like you're gonna think if you are truely blessed to have them . I feel like they suck at communication , but rest assured they are gonna show you.
Actions speak louder then words ... afterall 😉.
PILE 2
For this pile I am getting a strong Taurus energy . I feel that your future spouse's love language is more on act of service to you . I feel that they will put you on a pedestal and be very protected over you . They're gonna be treating you like a queen or King .
At times, you'd feel like they are being very gaurded and they might hover over you and when there are other people around or sensing someone trying to get too close to you . I feel that they can be throwing a little jealous comments but it's not that they are possessive . It's cause they want you all to themselves . It's kinda cute how would they react , they are like a baby who wants your attention on them only.
They are someone who will go distance for you . I feel like that they will work together with you to build a strong Foundation . I heard " built an Empire for you because you are my queen or king " .
They would want to take things one step at a time because they believe that good thing takes time . I feel that they are gonna have this endearing gaze on you when you guys have a kid together .
PILE 3
For this pile I am getting air sign and fire sings more . I feel that your future spouse's love language is more on the quality time and giving / receiving gifts .
I get this cheeky vibe from pile 3 . The way they show their love isn't how many would show. They will be acting like a child and always teasing you to get your attention but when they do get you mad they will sulk and feel sad about it .
Like Pile 2 , they are a big baby when it comes to you . I feel that on the another hand they will be working very hard on their pentacles so that they can provide for you .
Some of them may even gift you with a key that symbolises , that you hold the key to their heart . I feel that they will shower you with random gifts and flowers . I feel that your future spouse is quite the adventurer, a cheeky one I'd say ....
I feel that they will want to do crazy stuff with you like out of the blue . They see you as this light that lights up their world . I am hearing " you are my sunshine " . Just know that sometimes they didn't mean to annoy you , they were just trying to make you smile and to get your attention on them by doing something silly .

The Bear & The Fox (Carmy Berzatto x Fem!Reader)
Chapter 8: Bear Cubs
Words: 4.1 k
Summary: New opportunities present while ghosts from your past reappear.
a/n: The closer I get, the harder it becomes to write i don't know what it is but I hope you still enjoy. Commenting is always appreciated!
PS. Reader is latina in this cause Carmy seems like the type of man to appreciate a little melanin, okay!
WARNINGS: Smut ahead, oral sex (male receiving),semi public, minors DNI but you'll do what you want so don't say I didn't warn you
Summer came into Chicago with rain. Endless droplets poured in all directions with help from the constant wind, soaking everything and anyone that found themselves unlucky to not find shelter in time. You would regularly find the rain charming, relaxing on a day when all you had to do was enjoy the rhythmic patter and drown yourself in cups of tea. However, you dreaded the days when you had to go out and your sneakers were not a barrier thick enough to keep your socks from absorbing all the moisture that splashed onto them.
The rain from that day had fallen extra heavy, enough that you had to pad around in your socks once you reached the gallery and wait for your sneakers to dry.
“How about these?” Marjorie asked, standing over the set of frames laying on the floor.
“Aren’t they a bit too grim for a charity event?” You asked with your head tilted as you inspected the set of six paintings that depicted the progress of a horse’s rotting corpse.
“Yeah…” She hummed then advanced to the next set of frames with you padding behind her. “Y’know I was thinking..call me nosy, but I’ve been taking a peek at your canvas in the back..” She confessed and your eyes shot from the golden shades of a sunset to her face.
“I’ve uhm, been staying a little longer after closing… I hope it’s not a problem..?”
“No, of course not!” She answered and a wave of relief washed over you. “I actually wanted to offer you the last spot.” She said simply, turning to you with a stop.
You stayed silent for a moment, trying to process her words. “I’m sorry, what?” You asked through a nervous laugh, ‘there’s no way I heard right’, you thought.
“Well, Joy sent me a couple pictures of your works before hiring you and the one in the back sealed it. Your style is absolutely lovely and I believe you could make a great closing set for the showing.”
The moisture in your mouth had evaporated and traveled up to your teaducts where it threatened to spill. You felt like a fish out of water with the way your mouth kept opening and closing because, even though your head was racing with thoughts, none seemed to want to come out.
“You don’t need to decide now, of course, but I do need an answer by next week or we’ll have to go with the decapitated horse-”
“No! No, no I’ll do it!” You said with too much excitement to keep still, throwing your arms over her delicate shoulders. “Thank you Marge, thank you!”
She laughed along with your excitement and softly rubbed your back. You mentally reminded yourself to call Joyce and thank her for the push of bravery she had given you.
“D’you think I’ve given you enough time?” She asked after letting her go and beginning to pick up the paintings that you wouldn’t be using anymore.
“Yeah- no, I think three months is more than enough.” You assured, with the ideas already swirling in your head.
“And if you know of anyone who can cater, let me know. God knows what some people have in their heads these days that they wanna charge you your firstborn for a few canapes! Ridiculous!”
She began ranting on how some places wanted to charge more for their reputation than the actual quality of the food and you immediately thought of offering The Beef. Sure, the menu wasn’t nearly as luxurious as needed to cater a charity event held yearly for Chicago’s socialites to feel better about ‘giving back’, but you were more than confident in their ability to handle the challenge - especially considering that Carmy came with a built in reputation from his time in various awarded restaurants. So with a little push in the right direction, you pulled out your phone and after browsing through his feed, you showed her pictures of a few dishes he had crafted.
“Oh, wow.” She marveled, adjusting her glasses over her head. “That is beautiful…”
“I can ask him when he’s free for a test try if you want. They could really benefit from the promotion.” You confessed.
“Yes, please. Tell me when your ‘friend’ is free.” She teased and you’re glad your hair covered your beet red ears. You nodded in response, face beaming with a smile.
“Hmm, I see you two all lovey dovey when he picks you up, you make a beautiful couple, by the way.” Marjorie whispered, then sweetly patted your blushing cheek.
You finished picking up the paintings and wrapping them up for storage in the back, then said goodbye for the weekend and made the short walk in the rain to the restaurant, where you had agreed to help out for the rest of the day.
You reached The Beef huddled under your blue umbrella and by the back door, you shook out your hair from the few droplets that managed to wage their way through. The team was just about to take family by the time you crossed into the kitchen and greeted everyone leaving their stations. You found Syd and Carmy by the front, discussing some new dishes she wanted to add to the menu but he wasn’t quite sure about. You didn’t want to interrupt so you stood a couple feet behind, waiting for their conversation to end.
“Can we please just discuss this later, chef? I plan on adding it -I really do- but new dishes means new products and that means spending money we don’t have right now.” He said while rubbing his temples in frustration.
“I thought you said we finally had a parachute?”
“Yeah and it’s barely keeping us afloat as is. If we spend any more now, we’ll need a fuckin’ miracle to keep this place open.” He whispered harshly, looking around until he spotted your head behind Syd.
“Go take family, okay? We’ll talk about it later.” He ended the conversation then stalked up to you and leaned down to whisper “Can I see you in the office in a sec?”
His stare was so intense that all you could do was nod slowly up at him and when he walked away and you turned to Syd, her expression was just as confused as yours.
“Try to keep it in your pants, maybe.” She said amused, crossing her arms and leaning against the expo.
“Who knows, maybe I can get your risotto on the menu.” You answered back with a wink and turned to walk in direction of the office.
“That would be a miracle” You heard her whisper before turning the corner.
Carmy had his back to you when you entered the office. One hand rested tensely on his hip while the other seemed to rub away an incoming headache. You closed the door softly, then moved to rest your forehead on his strong back and caressed with open hands from his sides to his abdomen.
“Everything okay?” You asked, but the ragged breaths you felt him take were enough of an answer.
He took your hands and pulled them tighter around himself as he let out a sigh. “It never is, is it?” He answered with a slight snigger while turning in your arms and taking your head in his hands to kiss you.
You smiled into the kiss and as a sudden idea popped into your head, you began pushing him back until he dropped onto the squeaky old office chair. He smiled confused when you disconnected your lips to turn the lock on the door, then moved back to his side.
“Well I may have two good news that might cheer you up…” You spoke in a sultry voice as you stroked from his chest up to his shoulders and back down. “...but maybe they can wait ‘till after.”
“After what…?” He asked, however, his question was answered the second you stepped in front of him and dropped to your knees without a word.
Carmy straightened up and sucked in a sharp breath at the stunning sight of your torso resting between his parted thighs. You kissed him again more fervently and scratched a trail up, over the hard denim of his black jeans and to the buckle of his belt.
He sighed your name between kisses. “-Everyone’s outside..”
A cheeky grin spread over your face as you finished undoing the button on his jeans. “Don’t make too much noise, then.” You purred with a scrunch of your nose, holding his gaze for a few seconds to make sure he was okay with it.
“No one’s ever…”
“I can stop if you don’t-”
“No-no, I just…” He licked his bottom lip and let out a breathy laugh looking into your eyes. “I kinda had a dream about this… once.” He spoke slowly and a red tint covered his face.
Your smile grew even wider at the thought of poor sweet Carmy, dreaming about you blowing him in his office and how now you were kneeling -very real- in front of him. You palmed him through his jeans with connecting sight and it surprised you how hard he already felt under the denim.
“Well then, I’m flattered to be your first.” You whispered.
Carmy’s Adam's apple bobbed in his throat and he swallowed dryly as you released him from the pressure of his jeans. His eyes were fixated on each of your movements, the way your lip caught on your teeth and how warm your hand felt over his throbbing cock. You looked up at him through your lashes and smiled one last time before bluntly licking a stripe along the length of his velvet skin.
“Sshit-” He hissed, throwing his head back, then remembered the team was only a few yards away and bit the inside of his cheek to muffle the remaining sounds.
The soft skin of your hand stroked him at a slow pace, while the other massaged his thigh tenderly. You gave the pink tip a couple kisses, the taste of his precome coating your tongue, then wrapped your lips over it and sucked him into the warmth of your mouth. His hands had fisted at the side of your face, knuckles gone white from contained strength as you bobbed your head rhythmically.
“I’m not gonna break, y’know?” You breathed out while your hand continued the steady movements. “Go ahead.”
He hesitated for a second before reaching out to feather his thumb over your bottom lip, then extending his hand from your cheek to the back of your neck and pushing you down, back to his lap. You swallowed him gladly, the force of his strong hand applied a new pressure that made you take him even deeper than before and the knot in your abdomen tightened. His soft groans were muffled by the skin of his palm as he clamped it hard to ensure no one outside the room could hear him and how he was falling apart under you.
The thought was ravishing, to have this strong, fucked up and touch starved man trembling in pleasure from just your mouth made your chest swell with pride and your cunt squeeze in anticipation. Too bad you didn’t have enough time or you’d gladly throw everything on the desk to the ground and let him take you on it. You let your thoughts run wild with the idea, speeding up the pace to replace the growing ache between your legs.
His hips stuttered with the constant movements of your tongue and the grip he had on your hair tightened, teeth biting down on the back of his hand from the overstimulation. He knew he was close, but could do nothing more than keep pushing your head down and his hips up to continue the friction. His stomach spasmed with the force of his breaths, you took your hand from his thigh and slipped it under his shirt to run your nails over the sensitive skin.
“Jesus Fuck-” He groaned into the skin of his hand and that was the only warning you got before the thick hot liquid trickled down your throat in short bursts.
Carmy’s grip loosened over your head and you pulled away but kept flicking your hand slowly to ride out his orgasm. His head was thrown back and covered in a thin layer of sweat, the tense expression on his eyebrows long gone. He hissed softly when you put him back into his jeans, the cotton of his boxers too rough on the sensitive skin.
“Better than your dream?” You teased while wiping your mouth with the back of your hand and standing back up.
He let out a relaxed laugh and pulled you by your hips, kissing over your clothed stomach. “Like, by a thousand.” He responded, then pulled you down and groaned into your mouth when he tasted himself. “D’you think they’ll notice if we bail?” He asked against your lips.
“Yo, horndogs! Put your clothes back on and come out! We open in ten!” You heard Richie’s booming voice through the thin wooden door, followed by heavy knocks.
“I think that’s your answer.” You kissed him one last time and turned to the door, readjusting your hair.
“You never told me the good news…”
‘Right, that’s what I came in here for…’
“Remember the charity event I told you about?” You asked and continued once he nodded in agreement. “Well Marge offered me the last spot.” He stared blankly at you. “My paintings are gonna be auctioned at the event!”
He took a split second to react, but soon his brows raised in surprise and he circled his arms around your waist, lifting you from the ground in a tight hug.
“Baby, that’s great! I’m so fuckin’ proud of you!” He cheered, kissing the top of your head. You felt as if the skin on your cheeks would rip from the force of your smile.
“Wait that’s not all-” You laughed as you freed your head from his grip and looked up at his beaming face. “I may have gotten you guys the catering gig for the event.”
“Wait, seriously?” His grip loosened around you and you took advantage of that to turn to the door and step outside to wash your hands, Carmy following close behind.
“Mhm! She wants to see some options first, but I just know you guys are gonna kill it, so it’s practically in the bag.”
“What’re we gonna kill?” Marcus asked, popping his head around the corner of his station and causing a laugh to leave your chest.
You turned to a silent Carmy. He leaned on the wall with his hand resting over his chin and smiling mouth. You mouthed a slow ‘what?’ that he just answered with a shake of his head and wrapped a single arm around your shoulders, kissing your head again and whispering a soft ‘Thank you’ into your hair.
He let you go after a few seconds and you walked to the front with a glowing smile, setting up for the presumed ‘hectic day’, though with the way the sky seemed to be pouring down, you doubted anyone would be stepping foot inside.
**********
You were wrong, so very very wrong. But you would not let anyone know that as you took what seemed like the thousandth order, especially not Richie - who was already having a day picking jokes at you. ‘Haven’t seen you in a month hun, got a lot of ‘em saved up’ he said two minutes after walking through the door.
“What can I getcha?” You asked the next person in line.
Greetings had been lost, maybe fifty or sixty customers back, when you switched with Richie so he could wait on tables because the ipad had gone ‘crazy’ and it was ‘messing with his vibe’, or whatever the fuck that meant. So after clearing the screen from the usual grease, you took his place by the til and began taking the overwhelmingly large amount of orders.
It was only until the rain turned into a light drizzle, when the line grew shorter and the room less crowded, that you finally felt your phone vibrate with an incoming call from an unknown number.
“Richie! Cover for me, I gotta take this!” You called over the noise without waiting for an answer and walked into the kitchen with your phone to your ear. “Hello?”
A sudden rush of sharp chills prickled through your skin as the voice on the other end called your name.
“I-Isaac?” You asked, taken back because there was no way in hell that it could be him, not when you had blocked every one of his attempts to contact you.
“It’s been a while…” He said and you could hear the sly smile behind his words.
You felt the remains of your lunch slowly burn a path up from your stomach.
“Yeah, let’s keep it that way.” You answered as frigid as possible before hanging up and lunging to the bathroom to spill the undigested meal.
“Yo hurry up, I need to- shit you okay?!” You heard Richie’s voice over by the door you had forgotten to close.
You spit the last taste of bile from your mouth and flushed before putting down the seat and slouching defeated over it. The sudden squeak of kitchen shoes vibrated and soon Syd’s head appeared behind Richie.
“Shit- hey you okay?!” She asked at the same time Richie said “So… what- you pregnant?”
“She’s not pregnant you fuckin’ moron!” She yelled at him and pushed him out, closing the door in his face. “You’re not pregnant, right?” She asked, immediately squatting beside you.
“No Syd! I’m not fucking pregnant!” You answered through soft sniffles.
“Okay… what's wrong then?”
“Isaac called me.” You said after a few moments of silence.
“Psycho ex, Isaac?”
“Psycho ex Isaac.” You confirmed with eyes fixated beyond the floor and legs bouncing in anxiety.
“Okay… chill it’s not like he’s gonna come looking for you.” Syd said, trying to calm the evident panic attack bubbling under your skin. “Besides, Carmy wouldn’t let him stand in a ten mile radius of the restaurant, anyway.”
Your head shot up from the floor to look at her with worried brows.
“Because he does know…right?” She asked and the look of guilt slapped on your face was enough of an answer.
She threw her head back and stood with her hands on her hips.
“Dude, why haven’t you told him?!” She sneered with a whisper.
“I-I just couldn’t find the right moment-“
“There is no right moment! Just gotta throw in the bomb and hope for the best!”
“Yes I know, Syd! But I just- I couldn’t bear the thought of him thinking the worst of me, okay?!” You stood up from the seat in defeat and wiggled in the small space to reach the sink and rinse your mouth from the bitter taste.
“And now it’s gonna be worse cause you’ve waited this long.” Syd whispered behind you.
Three knocks at the door interrupted your answer and you looked up at Syd with a terrified look in your eyes. She mouthed a frantic ‘what do I do?’ before calling out a wobbly ‘uh… busy!’.
“I know you’re both in there, open up.”Carmy called with a heavy sigh.
She shrugged her shoulders apologetically and opened the door to a worried Carmy.
“Cousin said you were throwin’ up, everything okay?” He asked as Syd slid past him through the narrow opening, turning to you and pointing with wide eyes towards Carmy.
“Fucking Richie… yeah, something I ate, probably.” You tried saying while patting cold water on your skin to reduce the heat rising rapidly.
“Sure? You don’t look too good…”
He turned you to him by your shoulders and cupped your warm cheeks in his hands, looking over your face in concern.
“Yea- yeah, ’m fine. Probably just a one time thing.” His eyes roamed over your face with a creased brow, not fully convinced of your statements.
“You can head home if you’re not feelin’ up to it…” he suggested.
“And miss your stupid cousin telling everyone I’m pregnant, yeah no chance.” You said with a smile and the slight crinkles by the side of his eyes returned. “Besides, they’re gonna start thinking you got favorites.” You joked and laid your head softly over his chest so he couldn’t see your own worried expression.
He rubbed your back slowly, the measured rise and fall of his breathing calmed you down, but only slightly. You could still faintly hear Isaac’s voice bounce off the walls in your head, overpowered by Richie chanting through the kitchen about the little bear cub you were gonna have, and -for the first time since you met him- you appreciated the loudness of it.
The rest of your non-shift passed by in a blur of grease covered sandwiches and slight forming headaches, courtesy of the lack of food in your stomach and Richie’s constant teasing. There was a point in the afternoon, where your patience had grown too thin and you ended up punching him hard on the arm. It did nothing to him, of course, but it did help in reducing your stress on the train ride back to Carmy’s place.
“Maybe I should get some rain boots…” You commented after making your way inside the empty apartment and immediately kicking off the damp shoes.
“What, like Coraline?” He asked from the kitchen, surprising you. “What?” He asked again when he saw your amused expression. “You think I just watch food movies?”
“I dunno, I assumed you’ve seen Ratatouille but that’s like about it.” You joked.
*********
Carmen had probably used his stove a total of three times since moving back and before you started spending the night regularly, not counting that time he almost set his kitchen on fire while sleepwalking, but you didn’t need to know that. He even made an effort to keep his fridge stocked with other things that weren’t half full cans of Coke or stale bread and that he could actually make into a real meal.
When you arrived home -cause that’s what he liked to call it now- you tried to convince him that it wasn’t necessary to make dinner. But you hadn’t eaten anything all afternoon and it would have been completely fine if he didn’t know, but he did, and letting you go to bed on an empty stomach was not even an option that crossed his mind.
He liked cooking for you. It was the only way he could express how he felt. When words seemed too complicated to string together in coherent sentences, that stuck like thick honey to the roof of his mouth, he cooked them. Whisked them together with a bit of salt and pepper then fried them until crisp, and fed them to you on his best tableware; hoping this way you could understand all the messages his mouth failed to explain.
‘Only if you eat with me’ You had whispered as you took the skillet off the flame for the second time, a determined glow heavy in doe eyes and he knew that in a relationship with two people pleasers, arguing over who cared more for the other would be a lost cause. So he settled on making something quick and joined you on his small living room floor, where you sat with your feet wrapped in a blanket, computer and a couple of his cook books, drawing out ideas on what he could offer for the gala.
“Don’t we still have, like, three months?” He asked with a heavy sigh that came from stretching out his tired legs.
“Yeah.. but this way you’ll have more than enough time to see what works and what doesn’t.” You shrugged your shoulders and took a bite from your plate.
He chewed in silence, mesmerized as you lost yourself in the rabbit hole of all the different options they could serve for the event, flipping through his books and putting little colored post-its on the ones you liked the most. He had never seen you this excited and it brought a feeling to his chest that, if he didn’t know it was because of you, he’d probably confuse with heartburn.
Still, he couldn’t shake the looming sensation off his shoulders, the idea that something lurked around the corner, waiting to pounce. Like how he felt before Sugar called him about Mikey, and when he first learned that The Beef was now his.
For his peace of mind he decided to blame it on anxiety, he had grown so used to always being alert that his body felt wrong when it wasn’t. 'Its probably just a gut feeling' he thought, and he was never that good at reading his gut, anyway.

I'm hoping to get into 40k soon and really like the admech, but am dogwater at painting minis. Any advice besides practice?
Admech is one of the best factions for being dogwater at painting minis! It's a faction built out of metallic scrapped together gremlin beings! Color palletes are amorphous! Blemishes are in character! Mistakes blend in because they're so wild and out there! I can not recommend a better faction for someone who wants to get better at mini painting than admech! (Besides, maybe blueberries, but those are boring.)
Okay. So. Advice stuff:
My tenants of painting minis is this:
I. Your first draft will always be bad; that's why it's the first draft and not the final draft. (This one applies to a bunch of stuff outside of painting, too)
II. Thin your paints. three thin layers are infinitely better than a layer that's too thick. You can always put more paint on, but you can't take it off.
III. Table ready painting quality should be for arms length away, not up close.
IV. Ask questions and do research. YouTube and Google are your most powerful tools.
V. Nuln oil fixes all problems. (Unsure if this is serious advice or not. I could write a thesis on Nuln Oil at this point, but I may also be slightly biased.)
All of this is second only to practice practice practice.
Which... yeah. I get it. Practice is the answer nobody likes because it's the answer everyone gives, and it's usually the suckiest answer. But, sadly, there isn't any real way to bypass experience and muscle memory.
The best way I can suggest to go about getting started in mini painting (and how I got started) is to find four or five minis that you dont strongly care about how they turn out and give them each a solid attempt to the best of your abilities. (For admech in this case, do some skits first or nab a couple space marines off ebay and go to town on them before the precious cog fellas) Don't spend too much time on them, but don't rush them. Just casually paint them best you can. After that, study them. Figure out where the weakest bits are and then study how to improve those bits on youtube or Google or ask around online about them. Then try to take all you've learned and tackle a mini you really want to do!
The easiest way to get better in mini painting is finishing minis. Whether you deem them good or bad is irrelevant because every time you finish a mini, you're one more mini smarter than when you started! That's why I recommend doing 4 or 5 that you don't really care if you do well on first, just to get a feel for what you're doing and getting some experience down.
At the end of the day, if this feels like too much effort and you feel stressed/can't be assed to do research, there's a secret option that many don't consider:
Just paint them. Paint them best you can, and then they're done. Don't worry about it.
It's a hobby, it's all for fun! You're supposed to have fun! The only critic you have to worry about is yourself, and if you just do it because you want to rather than fearing what others think, you'll have far more fun painting and you'll have a completed army in the end! Which is more than most "pro" painters can say.
(I've got 2000 points of admech printed, and I've spent one or more days painting ONE mini on multiple occasions, I'm nowhere close to having my army done, you could easily have a leg up on me just by having yours done. The only reason I *do* spend more than one day on a mini is because I find it fun to do so. If that doesn't sound fun, cool, don't do that. )
I hope this helps, and if you do get into admech painting: please send pictures! I'd love to see them!

today i am feeling pretty blackpilled. it's the first of the month...
i wanted to feel renewed, refreshed but instead I'm feeling pretty hopeless. i am having one of my many body dysmorphia outbursts. i saw this ugly picture of myself in bad lighting last night at a party and immediately began having negative thought loops and an anxiety attack. i know that sounds really silly to people who don't have issues like this but for me... this just made me feel defeated and hideous. i was already feeling down and ugly because no one talked to me at the bar or club last night again... people almost never approach me and my friends tell me it's because im "unapproachable" but sometimes i wonder if this is just cope not to hurt my feelings. what if the only time i look decent is when i am extremely curated but im actually ugly? i see all my flaws intensely and i often think im hideous or mid at best, no this isn't fishing for compliments either I've never been mentally sound with my appearance and spent too much of my life actually being a 4 to the point where i have permanent damage to my self image and general mental state.
i think the people around me irl are awful at dealing with and helping me with my mental health issues. this morning when i was seeking some kind of solid answer my friend just would silently nod or just say something like "don't seek approval from others". my mother and i got into an argument and she raised her voice at me calling me shallow and saying my primary focus is my appearance but she chooses to live in lala land and refuses to recognize that your appearance determines your entire quality of life, especially when you are as poor as me. i literally have no escape out of poverty besides my appearance because in reality I'm not that bright. my mom doesn't understand my mental health state despite having a psychology degree. she doesn't have pcos like me and never struggled with her weight as a young woman, always had tons of friends and boyfriends, was voted prom queen and even had a modeling contract. how could she ever possibly understand how i feel or relate to me? i have quite literally lived most of my life as a femcel. i can count on one hand how many friends i have even now and didn't even kiss a guy until i was over 20.
just last year i started to get sort of attractive by losing weight, changing my makeup and hair and finally felt a little comfortable putting myself out there but I'm still terrified. i still don't go out much and i feel like i repel people. I've built a wall to protect myself from being hurt again. i might be prettier than before but i still feel the same inside and I'm still socially inept, so i still don't attract people. i really need therapy but i cant afford it. i have been intensely struggling financially this year and i could barely scrounge up a dollar today to pay for my change difference at Starbucks because i desperately needed to get out of the house. i feel intensely upset about the fact that i thought i had found the perfect job to work from home just for the guy to scam me and never pay me even though i worked in bed editing a book for him while i was sick with COVID so i could get it in on time.
i was working my ass off expecting some compensation i desperately need. i feel at a dead end, I've been applying many places but my nail school schedule fucks me and it seems no one really wants to hire me. i can't go until the spring like this, I'm drowning in debt. i am also not looking forward to going back to nail school because i don't like the other girls and i had some issues and the vibe is dead, it won't be fun anymore, it won't be the same. i get upset thinking about it because i feel unwanted. i tried to talk to my friend about this too and she still gave me no reassurance, just the same generic responses. i don't feel relieved or comforted. i suppose i should stop dumping my feelings on my friends but i feel hopeless and really depressed. i don't want to do anything, right now i don't even want to exist.
i just want a decent job and a good man next to me and a home of my own and to get the fuck out of Detroit and to get the surgeries i want and to be thinner and prettier and i want a therapist

How Long Do Dentures Last? And Other FAQs About Dentures
Hello there!!
So, you're diving into the world of dentures, right? Regardless if you're thinking about them for yourself or just pleasing your interest, you've come to the perfect place. Let's solve the mystery behind these little mouth helpers and answer some knotty questions you might have.
What are Dentures?
Alright, let's start with the basics.
Dentures are prosthetic gears designed to substitute missing teeth. They're custom-built to fit comfortably into your mouth, bestowing you a natural-looking grin and restoring the function of your teeth. They can be made from multiple components, including acrylic, metal, or a combination of both, depending on your specific needs and picks.
What is a Partial Denture?
Partial dentures are accurately what they sound like - they take the place of only a few missing teeth, as opposed to an overall set. They're often advised when you continue to have some healthy and balanced teeth remaining in your mouth. They can be removable or fixed, being dependent on your circumstances and what your dentist advises.
What is the Difference Between Snap-in Dentures and Regular Dentures?
Ah, the vintage concern: what's the deal with snap-in dentures? How do they differentiate from their standard comparable versions? Okay, let's clear these things up here.
Traditional dentures, also named conventional dentures, are kept in place by suction and in some cases denture adhesive, granting you a smile that's as stable as it gets.
Meanwhile, snap-in dentures take things up a notch by integrating dental implants into the mix. Dental implants are small titanium posts that are surgically rooted into your jawbone, where they fuse with the bone and offer a sturdy foundation for your dentures. Snap-in dentures affix to these implants using distinct connectors, offering you a smile that's not only stable but also surprisingly secure.
So, what's the big variance between the two? All of it boils down to stability. While traditional dentures lean solely on suction and adhesive to stay in place, snap-in dentures fasten themselves to dental implants, saying they're a lot less likely to slip or slide around in your mouth. Plus, because they're upheld by implants, snap-in dentures can aid preserve your jawbone and avoid further bone loss over time.
How to Clean Dentures?
Proper denture care is crucial if you want these mouth helpers to last. So, grab your denture brush and pay attention.
First off, you'll want to remove your dentures and rinse them under lukewarm water to remove any food particles.
Then, give them a good scrub with your denture brush and some mild soap. Don't forget to brush your gums and tongue while you're at it – a clean mouth means a happy smile!
Finally, pop those pearly whites back in your mouth and voila! You're good to go.
How Long Do Dentures Last?
That's one of the most bothering queries you might have. The life expectancy of dentures can vary depending on several factors, including the quality of the components used, how properly they're looked after, and changes in the structure of your mouth over time.
Typically, they can last just about anywhere from five to ten years before they need to be changed. Nevertheless, with appropriate care and routine check-ups with your dentist, you can lengthen the life of your dentures and retain your smile looking fabulous for years to come.
Wanna see the picture before and after denture utilization? Here it is:
How Do I Adjust to Wearing Dentures?
Let's deal with the elephant in the room: It can take a while to get used to wearing dentures. But fear not, because we've got some tips to assist you make the move a breeze.
First off, start slow. Wear your dentures for just a few hours at a time at first, then gradually increase the wear time as you get more comfortable. And don't be afraid to use a little denture adhesive to help keep them in place!
Can I Eat Normally with Dentures?
The short response is yes but with a few caveats. You see, although dentures can bring back your chewing job, they're not quite as heavy-duty as your natural teeth. So, you'll want to steer clear of super hard or sticky foods that could possibly harm your dentures. But don't panic, you'll still be able to sink your teeth into many of your beloved dishes!
What Should I Do if My Dentures Break?
Oh no, disaster has struck! Your dentures are broken, and you're not sure what to do. Don't panic, my friend, because help is at hand.
First off, resist the urge to try and fix them yourself. DIY denture repairs rarely end well. Instead, give your dentist a call and schedule an appointment to have them fixed professionally. In the meantime, you can try using denture adhesive to hold them in place until you can get to the dentist
How Much Do Snap-In Dentures Cost?
The cost of snap-in dentures can vary depending on various factors, including the materials used, the complexity of the procedure, and your location. On average, you can expect to pay anywhere from a few thousand to several thousand dollars for snap-in dentures. While the initial investment may seem steep, many people find that the benefits far outweigh the cost in the long run.
Does Medicare Cover Dentures?
Unfortunately, Medicare typically does not cover routine dental care, including dentures. However, there may be some exceptions for certain medically necessary procedures, so it's always a good idea to check with your insurance provider to see what's covered under your plan.

Hello. I liked and rebloged your post.
I’d love to participate in your free readings. Question: can I hear from my future twin sons? And anything about them too would be most appreciated.
Thank you so much. I’m H. 🫀🖤
Hello!
Thank you for the reblog and the request!
And congratulations! I would love to see what I can find out about them for you! 🤍
♌︎ Their rising sign could be Leo which tells us a lot about their appearance. If they’re identical or non-identical but look very similar, they would have very voluminous hair. It would be the most noticeable thing about them. It could be that they have very curly hair, big hair or they could have very thick, fluffy hair. Leo risings take a lot of pride in how their hair looks. It’s their way of expressing themselves. (I’m a Leo rising myself and I can confirm that this is true).
They will grow very tall and have a tanned/dark complexion. Their presence will feel very stoic as they grow older and they will move with elegance and power. They will both have beautiful smiles that will light up the whole room.
♈︎ If they’re fraternal twins, the other twin could have a distinct facial feature such as a birthmark or as they grow older, a scar due to being accident prone and clumsy. (Sorry in advance as you might possibly have to deal with a hyperactive child).
This child will have very eager eyes and a flashing smile. They may have a rosier complexion compared to the other and perhaps even red hair. You may notice as they grow older that they very much have a baby face and are often mistaken to be younger than they are. They might be naturally very lean and athletically built. (All that running around probably paid off 💪)
♃ The first twin will be an optimist. They will be understanding, authoritative, influential, successful, passionate, curious, inspired, generous, tolerant, responsible, and knowledgable.
They’re very interested in humanitarian and philosophical topics and they will always have the bigger picture in mind. They will crave purpose and meaning in the things that they do and the life that they live. They will always strive to improve themselves and their skills.
♇ The other twin will be very different. They love the thrill of uncertainty and are drawn to they unknown. They will ask you a lot of questions about literally everything and they will be persistent if you don’t give them a satisfying enough answer. They are a truth seeker. They must know why things are not just what the outcome is. They are an excellent seeker of what lies below the surface and they’re not afraid of failure.
They are intense, an explorer, obsessive, and a bit stubborn. They might despise small talk as they’re not interested in surface level conversations and will probably consider a lot of people ‘boring’. Many people might see these as unlikable qualities but it just means that they have a unique way of connecting with others.
They want you to know that they love you very much and they think you’re a wonderful parent. They’re telling you that they want to hurry up and come out! 🥹 They may be born before the expected date. They are very eager! They’re saying ‘see you soon!’.
I don’t mean to cause any anxiety so please take this with a grain of salt and make sure you’re consulting your doctor if you have any real concerns. There may be some complications during the pregnancy or the delivery, perhaps this is due to their haste, but it will be successful and your babies will be healthy, happy and safe. I strongly advise that you take very good care of your body and listen to your doctors advice 🤍
I wish a very safe pregnancy for you and your baby boys. Congratulations again and I hope my reading was helpful for you 🤍
Sincerely,
Cassy the friendly ghost 🤍

HI THAT ANON WAS ME i have no idea why i sent it on anon actually 😭
I LOVE the long posts so this will probably be long as well <3 waking up to muchachos sounds like the best thing ever omg DONT APOLOGIZE FOR YOUR SCREAMING I WAS DOING THE SAME AT HOME OMG i kept seeing videos of people at those screens, i cant imagine what it was like to actually be there 😭 the baby in front of you sleeping through the whole thing 😭❤️
i have no memories period of di maria's goal i was literally floating my way through that match and i will NEVER sit through it fully again (except certain parts obv)
that song's this one! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTnRlJTusME it's prob my favorite tbh it's just so catchy!!
I literally don't remember that save either, everyone was talking about it afterwards but my hands were literally still shaking from the match in general, i saw it on instagram. i don't even remember most of the shootout but SOMOS TODOS MONTIEL I DIDNT EVEN KNOW WHAT IT MEANT AND IT STILL GAVE ME CHILLS THE FIRST TIME I HEARD IT
going to gardens and getting only honking sounds about right and a very specific, but no less valid vibe of its own 👍 literally every time i see pictures or videos of the celebrations, even now, i am in actual awe over the amount of people that turned out and celebrated (obviously lol) before the parade even and even more during it!! someone told me the dibu burger is actually super good, im genuinely dying to try it it looks great 😭 that image is so funny though, argentina won the wc and people are lining up to buy the dibu's burger as they should!! the store owners were either worried about crowds or they shut down to go celebrate themselves lbr 💀
the newspaper!!! gloria eterna thats beautiful stuff!!!! and the goat chips omg, pls dont apologize i am loving the visual aspect of this i've been watching celebration videos non-stop bc i watched so many after they won that its all my instagram recommendations show me anymore. https://mobile.twitter.com/PLF_2008/status/1606926273833467905 this is my favorite <3
i'm so glad you had fun it seems like such a surreal experience and thank you so much for these answers and videos!!!!❤️
OMG HI HI HI thank you for enjoying my rambles <3333 it was so nice to go through it all again, ugh i miss it so much
the baby was built different. i KNOW he's gonna hear it when he gets older about how he fell asleep during the 2022 wc final when argentina became campion del mundo. literally the greatest match of all time and he knocked.
di maria's goal, once i re-watched the highlights and actually registered what was happening, is literally the sexiest thing i've ever seen. the loss of possession, the build up, the quick passes. A TEAM GOAL FR. but whenever i re-watch highlights i can only watch argentina's goals. i have to fast-forward through the penalties that france gets and mbappe's goal; it upsets me too much lmao
also after di maria's goal, people were chanting his name and the camera's were showing how he was crying after he scored and i was just so happy for him <333 also afterwards, I read this article (https://www.theplayerstribune.com/articles/angel-di-maria-argentina-english) and it just made me even more happy that he got a goal in a wc final + won the wc.
ole ole ola is a BANGER omg argentines only coming up with bangers confirmed ty for the link :))
i ended up getting a dibu burger at the airport!!! 10/10 would eat again, my man dibu only comes out with quality content, on and off the pitch.
ppl were wasted af lmao one drunk man came up to my dad (who does not speak a lick of spanish) and was literally in tears trying to hug him and my dad was just like "sir, it's okay, you won, it's okay" (in english, mind you)
for real though, i legit think about how lucky i was to be there and experience it all every single day. and i get a nice reminder every day because my social media is ALSO ALL FOOTBALL now. my tiktok for you page still shows me edits ("the little boy from rosario" lives rent free in my head) and i obviously have to watch every time. although i can't re-watch the 120' minute save because it literally gives me anxiety that it's going to go in this time (even though it's literally over).
that tweet omg :))) im just so happy not only for the players but for the PEOPLE, the way that they loved that team and suffered through all the finals and losses. no one else deserved it more. i love seeing the abuelas dancing in the street and the songs about them- makes me so happy :)
it was so surreal. top memory of life. thank you again for asking and sitting through my rambles and content dump <3

My relationship with the internet
I have been thinking about my relationship with the internet recently.
It’s weird that I have built a strong dependency toward the internet through out the years without noticing it. Or, I noticed it but it is too weird to stay distant from it, given that everyone is there and using it everyday, right?
I have to admit that internet is addictive, and it’s addictive in many ways. For example, I have a bad habit of reading a random Wikipedia entry and dig into related entries. It’s reading for pleasure with the sense of learning something new. The thing is, if I don’t try to memorize the details or at least write a note about it, I won’t be able to recall anything.
The whole internet though, is a media that contains too much interesting content. While a single person won’t be able to read all the available books in their life, the internet content is way beyond that. If I am not careful, I may save more than 20 interesting articles that I want to “read later” in a day. This habit has leaked into Youtube videos. I have thousands of articles to read and videos to watch, they all seem to be interesting to me, at least for the past me. “Interesting” is now an insufficient criteria to determine if something is worth digest.
This may be fine when I was young and didn’t feel the stress of time. But as I am closer to my 40s, I started to realize that I don’t have infinite time and I care about too many things. There are too many interesting things in the world but I cannot care about them all. There must be a priority built for myself, otherwise I am dragging around by others' priorities.
Another source of the internet stickness is from the social networks. I shouldn’t care about the social pressure because I quitted Facebook back in 2019. There shouldn’t be a pressure for me to keep checking Twitter timeline because most of my acquaintances are not on Twitter. But why is it still a problem?
The reason is that the social pressure isn’t from my acquaintances. It comes from those numbers on the social networks. We human likes to compare and subconsciously I can’t stop comparing to others. The term “peer pressure” describes it, and the social networks make it worse. One may compare the number of Likes received with other people they follow; one may feel depressed if a new post didn’t receive any Like; one may try hard to earn Likes.
I have to remind myself that quality is more important than quantity. Because quantity is far easier to measure, it’s easier to set up a goal using quantity as the measurement. For example, number of books read in a year; number of notes written in a month; words written in a day; number of posts/pictures/videos posted; number of likes or comments obtained. I won’t say those measurement is meaningless, but each one has its own pitfalls. Relying on a single measurement gives the wrong target to chase after, and that may misdirect me. What I want is an improved internet experience with better quality.
I started to build a new set tenets for myself, that will be the north star for me to deal with my relationship with the internet with the quality in mind. The tenets include:
Slow is fast.
Less is more.
Far is near.
Previously, I always try to hunt for interesting people to follow and make my timeline as rich as I can. Now, I only follow a few people when using a new platform and keep a short list of “must read” in the existing platforms. I try to have a short list of ongoing subjects that I want to explore and be more mindful on what I read. I try to keep distances to “news” or “modern stuff” and leave room for me to reflect. I remove any social media app if I started to scroll through the timeline aimlessly on my phone and use them on my iPad or laptop.
What will the result be? I don’t have a solid answer yet as I started it half month ago but it seems to be promising.

_______
It had not been his intention to keep the phone.
Truly it had been nothing more than an accident, but somehow it ended up in his pocket, and somehow she figured it out, and the moment he’d hacked it open, all the information had been previously deleted aside from a single number saved with a green heart and a text message: AND HE FINALLY MANAGES TO OPEN THE PHONE, GIVE THE MAN A PRIZE! (The prize is the phone. You’re welcome)
He had returned the text with something less than polite without really thinking, and then the back and forth had started.
Now he wasn’t… used to talking to anyone with as much frequency as the Dragon Girl messaged him with. It was… exhausting some days to simply even consider picking up the phone. Other days he would become immersed in a project and simply… forget, only to pick up the phone three days later and find two hundred and sixty-six unanswered texts, all just as cheerful and snarky as the last.
Red Son himself was a morning person as well as a night owl, but somehow regardless of when he responded she always seemed to be awake at that exact moment to message him back immediately.
He wasn’t sure if he was exasperated and annoyed by it, or appreciated it.
(Those moments when he’d finally gather up enough energy and drag himself away from his projects to text a two word response, that was already much too real and close to a furnace spilling over it’s molton hot secrets, and she’s be there and listen and he’d suddenly have that little extra energy to add a fire emoji to combat her forty-two assorted dragons and hearts.)
(He appreciated it more than he should have.)
The conversations weren’t anything very meaningful subject wise. She wouldn’t try to pry any personal details out of him like he would have expected from an enemy given the chance, but instead they were mainly just pictures of food, an assortment of animal videos, memes, and images of half-built and fully built bikes. It took him longer than he would have liked to piece together that she built them herself.
After that there were long discussions of places to buy the higher quality metals and pieces so they could build their equipment required in the creation of their vehicles. He found himself offering to build her specific parts she couldn’t find more than once. She would seem to notice he had offered without actually thinking of what it would entail and always turned him down.
Again, something he wasn’t sure he was annoyed by or grateful for.
The first time she called him, he nearly burnt a hole through his desk. If it were not suitably fire-proofed by him personally, (due to previous accidents in the past,) it likely would have been a charred stump. He still wasn’t sure how the phone survived. She probably had them made fire-proof, that sounded like something she’d do.
“How’s my favourite Fire Demon?”
“Why are you calling me?”
“Missed your screechy voice cracks.”
“My voice does not crack--”
And before he knew it that became a regular thing. To have her on call, to watch her streams as he worked. To listen to her voice when the silence would let his thoughts get too loud. It felt almost like… having real company, something other than the bull clones, or brief summons to his parents, someone that… cared.
A dangerous word. Care.
He didn’t care.
(He did care.)
(She acted like she cared.)
(They were enemies though, so it didn’t matter.)
(It didn’t matter.)
(When had he started to feel this lonely?)
(It had been that way for a long time, he’d just forgotten--)
The phone rang and he answered it without looking at the caller. He didn’t need to, it was just the green heart emoji on the screen he hadn’t gotten around to changing yet.
“I saw that!”
“Saw what?”
“You subscribed to my channel, Red Boy!”
“I haven’t the slightest idea what you’re talking about, Dragon Girl.” He had to fight to keep the smile down.
“You diiiiiiid! Oh! I’m gonna have so much fun telling Mk about this~”
And that was another thing. All the Noodle Boy propaganda. She talked about him so often Red Son almost felt like it was a group chat rather than just the two of them. He wondered if the Monkey King’s successor would be interested in a group chat--
No.
No. Absolutely not. Things were already out of hand as it was. A group chat would be… no. That was taking it too far. If it was just the two of them he could pretend this was just an accident, that it didn’t mean anything. Add a third and he knew denial wouldn’t help him, especially if that third was sunshine Noodle Boy. No.
“DBK Fam’s been real quiet since New Years,” she commented in one call. “Everything okay on your end?”
It was odd. To be asked that.
“Red Son?”
“Fine,” he managed to force out through the lump in his throat. “I’m not sure what Mother and Father are planning, they haven’t really been keeping me in the loop.”
It took more than he would have liked to admit that.
As always she seemed to know. And let the subject drop fairly quickly after that.
“What are you doing right now?”
She asked that every once in a while. Red Son’s answer remained rather unchanged for the most part throughout the weeks.
“Working.” Blunt, to the point, he forced his wrench to move to secure the bolt as he said it, making the word come out a strained grunt.
“Still?” spoken incredulously. “Dude, have you even left your shop at all this week?”
It wasn’t the question that made him pause so much as the tone in which it was asked. The incredulous surprise, and the… concern. Worry.
He glanced down at the phone, currently laying flat face up on his desk, on speaker mode as he worked. The little green heart emoji stared back at him.
“I picked up a few bolts not too long ago.”
“Red Son, that was two weeks ago,” what would ordinarily be a deadpan voice was marred by something higher and tenser. “Are you telling me you haven’t left your workshop at all since then?”
“I don’t need to leave,” he told her with more honesty than he should have. “I send the Bull Clones out for anything I need, and I’m able to continue my projects uninterrupted so long as no human comes knocking on my door, or my mother doesn’t pay another surprise visit. It really is simply convenient.”
“Don’t fire demons need to get powered by the sun or something?”
“I have windows.”
“Do you?” her voice was unamused.
“I have… a few… small windows.”
“I’m staging an intervention,” she said flatly, startling him.
“What?”
“Get ready to go, I’ll be there in ten.”
“You don’t even know where I--”
She hung up on him.
He stared at the phone for a solid two minutes, unsure of how serious she had been when she said she would be over in ten minutes.
A part of him simply wanted to go back to welding and dismiss her… threat? (It felt like a threat. A friendly one, but a threat nonetheless.) But knowing Dragon Girl she was probably completely serious. Then again, no one knew where this specific workshop was since his mother hadn’t bothered to come find it yet, so it was likely the threat did not hold any weight.
He still found himself letting his hair down from it’s three-day old messy tie to hazardously comb through it anyways.
“Just a precaution,” he told himself. The tie had been getting uncomfortable anyways. He glanced down at his grease streaked darkened work clothes. Changing seemed like too much of an effort when she probably wouldn’t…
No. She definitely would.
Could she?
She was persistent, she would probably find a way to the workshop somehow. It might at least take her more than ten minutes however. He could simply wait for the Bull clones along the perimeter to alert him if she did appear and change then if need be. For now he would simply continue with what he’d been in the middle of doing.
He probably should have been less surprised when the door was kicked open with a loud BANG and enough force to make it shudder on its hinges, making him nearly jump out of his skin.
“GET UP, FIRE BOY, WE’RE GOING OUT!”
It took him a moment to catch his welder, flailing wildly and just managing to snatch it before it fell behind him. He turned it off quickly and smacked the edge of his visor to open it so he could see and give the dragon girl an incredulous look. “Wh-wha--how--? What--? How did you even--?” he spluttered as she swaggered forward into his previously secluded--how had she even found it--workshop as though she was a common visitor rather than a first-time intruder. “How did you get past the Bull Clones?”
“Do you even technically need to use a welder? She asked, instead of answering as she reached his work table and leaned over his half-welded metal pieces.
He slid it away from her with a grunt of effort before snarking back. “Do you even technically need to drive?”
She cackled at the comparison--he was not proud of the laugh, it was annoying--and gave him a grin. He’d forgotten how different it was to be in the same room as her in person. Video call just didn’t capture the way she seemed to fill the space with every move she made, effortlessly garnering attention like it was the easiest thing to have eyes on her and she couldn’t care about them in the slightest.
They were so different. She had the attention he fought so hard for and couldn’t care less, and he felt invisible unless he was shouting at the top of his lungs and sparking into a bonfire.
He wasn’t shouting now though, and she was looking right at him.
“Ready to go?”
He blinked. “Huh?”
“I gave you ten minutes, are you ready?”
They both glanced down at his grease stained overalls and sleeveless turtleneck that had seen better days. Red Son grimaced.
“Come ooooon,” she complained, leaning even closer, Red Son responding to the action by leaning back in his chair, further away. “You’ve been in here for days. It’s time for the Bull Prince to get some Fresh Air!”
“Fresh what-now,” he deadpanned.
She ignored him.
“So get up! Fix that greasy head of hair of yours,” she leaned over and ruffled his hair forcefully until he swatted her hand away with an outraged noise. “We’re going out!”
“I already did fix it,” he muttered, smoothing his hair back down with a frown.
“Well, come on then! Out we go!”
She picked him up off his bench with no visible effort and set him on his feet before grabbing his hand and pulling him towards the door. The Bull Clones did absolutely nothing as he was dragged past them, and it wasn't until they were on the sidewalk that he processed what was happening.
“W-wait--”
Even though he didn’t say it as loud as he should have, she stopped anyway, turning around to look at him intently, startling him with her complete attention which he still wasn’t used to.
His ears heated and he looked away. “The Son of the Demon Bull King should not be seen in public in such attire.”
She tilted her head to look at him for a moment, then shrugged and said simply. “Then you’re not the Son of DBK today.”
“Pardon?” was all that came out, incredulous and confused. “What do you--?”
She only smiled like she had been expecting the argument and pulled out a hat seemingly from nowhere pulling it over his head firmly, obscuring his view.
He spluttered, and while he was distracted pulling it up enough so he could see, she removed her jacket and draped it over his shoulders, slinging her arm over his shoulders and pulling him close. “You’re my friend! Red Son!”
He stared at her.
She beamed right back.
He glanced back at his workshop, then at the jacket hanging off of him precariously, and finally back up at the Dragon Girl.
His throat felt a little dry and his skin prickled slightly.
Very quietly, because he didn’t want to risk the Bull Clones overhearing, and because he knew she would listen regardless of how softly he spoke, he responded.
“Okay.”
With the green hat, Dragon Girl’s jacket, and the attention grabbing loud girl leading him around, no one spared him a second glance, but with her smiling back at him every few seconds and chattering to him, listening to his contributions to the conversation… Red Son found he didn’t mind it so much.
Dragon Girl dragged him around like they had somewhere to be but without any actual destination. They simply entered any stores she saw his eyes lingering on, or ones she thought looked cool. They exited one with an array of snacks and drinks and found a bench to sit on so they could enjoy their spoils.
He hadn’t realized how hungry he was until he’d devoured at least half of the large supply of snacks.
“We should invite Mk next time,” Mei said, leaning back against the bench, arms behind her head.
It was an offhand comment, one with very little actual intent behind it, more of a musing than an actual suggestion, though it implied that there would be a next time which he found himself not… hating the idea of. Walks in the city with snacks included after a long day sounded… nice. She mentioned Noodle Boy a lot, there wasn’t any clear intention to actually invite him, and there wouldn’t be until Red Son showed he was comfortable enough.
“Hrm,” Red Son said, his mouth full.
Mei glanced at him in surprise. “That was a yes.”
Red Son swallowed the last bite of his snacks and carefully folded the wrapper so he had an excuse not to meet her eyes.
“Neither of you are… terrible company…”
“Wow,” Mei said, but she was grinning wildly. “Thanks.”
He scoffed, not bothering to lean away when she brought their faces closer. “Just so long as…” He swallowed, suddenly unsteady. The food in his stomach churned. He stared down at the wrapper in his hands that, a small square, squished until he could’t fold it anymore.
“Hey,” her voice was light.
He glanced at her.
She had her usual smile, although this one was slightly softer around the edges, something reassuring about it. “Me, you and Mk. That’s the party.” She offered a hand, curled into a fist. “We won’t try to make it bigger.”
He chewed on the inside of his lip.
“Not until you’re ready.”
She held her hand steady until he exhaled carefully, then reached over and tapped his fist against hers.
“Alright.”
Somehow… it wasn’t all that hard to trust her.
And it was worth it anyways, when she grabbed his hand and dragged him to the noodle shop to barge into Noodle Boy’s room and declare an impromptu movie night. That lonely feeling clawing at his insides lost its hold and slipped away, overtaken by the laughter and voices of his two not-nemesis's.
It was weird, wasn’t it? He found he didn’t mind this kind of weird though.
Mei gave him a ride back to his workshop later, dropping a bag of snacks and water bottles onto his desk before waving goodbye and racing off in a flash of green.
The phone in his pocket buzzed.

Billy Russo Fluff Alphabet
A/N: a Billy x reader fluff Alphabet anyone? 🙃
-----
A = Admiration (what do they absolutely adore about you?)
Billy admires everything about you. From your looks to your personality. He often just watches you with a dopey smile on his face as he wonders how he managed to get someone like you.
He's gone his life feeling like people only wanted him around because they wanted something from him. His money, his skill or his looks. But you just want him for him. It scares the shit out of him sometimes but it touches his heart to have found someone who isn't using him and actually cares.
B = Body (what is their favorite part of your body?)
I answered this in the NSFW alphabet but, his favourite body parts are your neck and eyes.
Your eyes give everything away and he can pick up even minute changes in your mood from them. He adores them.
With your neck, it gets him going ridiculously.
C = Cuddling (how do they like to cuddle?)
With you, Billy is a huge cuddler. He loves it when you lay your head on his chest. He hitches your thigh up so he can grasp it, his other arm wound tightly around you. He also loves being the big spoon.
He just enjoys the closeness, he feels like he can never get close enough to you.
D = Dates (what does their ideal date with you look like?)
As much as he can do fancy dinners, he much prefers at home dates. He loves the dates where he cooks for you at home and then you cuddle on the sofa afterwards. It feels much more intimate to him.
E = Emotions (how do they express emotion around you?)
Billy is very emotionally stunted. At first, he struggles to deal with having feelings and expressing himself. But once that hurdle is over, he has no issues with constantly telling you he loves you. He's also very affectionate because sometimes it's easier to show you rather than to tell you. Sweet kisses, soft touches or his hands gripping your hips.
F = Family (do they want one? If they do, when?)
Billy never wanted a family before. He didn't think he was built that way after his upbringing. The looming threat of failing as a parent would haunt him.
But with you he started to crave that. Started to want what Frank and Maria have.
He started to be able to see himself as a dad, the father to your kids.
G = Gifts (how do they feel about gift giving? What are their habits when it comes to this?)
Billy loves showering you with gifts and he's surprisingly good at getting sentimental ones. He has a fantastic memory and he never forgets what you say. If you say something in passing conversation about something you like or want, you'll end up with it not long after.
Billy will pull all the strings he needs to in order to make sure you get what you want. He loves to spoil you.
H = Holding Hands (when/how do they like to hold hands?)
Billy likes holding hands, feeling his fingers laced with yours. But he much prefers wrapping an arm around your waist or shoulders. Holding hands creates some distance and he doesn't like that. He likes you as close as possible at all times. Pressed against his side with his arm around you brings him a sense of peace.
I = Injury (how would they act if you got hurt?)
Over the top.
Stubbed your toe? It's the end of the world.
Accidentally cut your finger when chopping vegetables? You're dying and he needs to call 911.
“Billy, you don’t need to call 911,”
“What, you wanna bleed out?”
“It’s-It’s a tiny slice...”
“Right, and the next thing you know, you got sepsis and they’re choppin’ off your arm. I’m callin’ 911,”
“Billy-”
“Yeah, hi. My girl’s bleedin’ out, we need an ambulance...”
If you get injured because of someone else, even if it's an accident, he wants blood. Anyone that hurts you is on his shit list.
If anyone purposely hurts you… their days are numbered. Billy won't rest until he's got retribution for that. No one messes with his family.
J = Jokes (do they like to joke around with or prank you? how?)
Billy loves to joke with you. He's constantly teasing you and making you laugh with dad jokes and bad puns.
He also loves to see your face when you slurp your coffee that has salt and not sugar in it.
K = Kisses (how do they like to kiss you?)
Billy loves kisses. He loves giving you little affectionate kisses on your head, cheek, temple, shoulder, neck. It reassures him you're still there and he can't help it, the need to be close to you.
When he kisses your lips though, it's hard to hold back. Whether it's the slow and sensual kisses that have you melting or the bruising kisses that are all tongues and teeth, he can't hold back. Even sweet pecks on your lips turn into dirty kisses as he loses himself in you.
He's the kind of guy that kisses with his whole body. His hands wandering and gripping you, his body moving against yours. Kissing Billy is a very involved experience.
Kissing you is his favorite thing to do.
L = Love (how do they show you they love you?)
He sometimes struggles with his words and Billy is very much a man of action. Things like making you breakfast in bed when he's off work, cooking you dinner. Sometimes he leaves little notes for you since he wakes up early for work and he doesn't want to wake you when you look so peaceful.
He's always checking in with you, wanting to make sure you're healthy and happy. There isn't anything he wouldn't do for you.
M = Memory (favorite memory together?)
His favourite memory is the day you told him you loved him. It would be ingrained in his memory forever. It was the day he realised that just maybe he could have a happy ever after.
N = Nightmare (what is their worst fear?)
Losing you. Billy's seen a lot of shit in his life and lost people close to him. His biggest fear is losing you in any way. Whether that's you willingly walking away, something that plagues him daily. Or you being taken from him somehow. He'd die if anything happened to you.
Losing you is not an option for Billy and he will do everything humanly possible to make sure that doesn't happen.
O = Oddity (what is one quirk they have?)
He's a neat freak. He loves things being neat and orderly, he can't help it. His bookcase is arranged alphabetically, his suits coordinated by color.
P = Pet Names (what do they like to call you?)
Sweetheart is his go to. He constantly calls you sweetheart and doesn't even realise it. When he's feeling especially soft, it's baby.
Q = Quality Time (how do they like to spend time with you?)
He loves any time he gets with you no matter where it is. As long as you're by his side, he's fine.
He really loves the domestic home life with you. His arms wrapped around you while you cook, snuggled on the sofa together etc.
R = Rhythm (what song reminds you of them?)
Closer by Nine Inch Nails 👀😂
S = Secrets (how open are they with you?)
It takes him a while to open up since he has trust issues. But once he realised you genuinely love him, he started to open up bit by bit. Every time he revealed something about himself he was convinced you'd leave. But when you didn't, he got more confident to share his life with you.
T = Time (how long did it take you to get together?)
It took a little bit. It started off casual but he knew he wanted more. You were like an addiction to him. He rarely went back to someone for sex, only if he was getting something out of it. But he liked having you around. Enjoyed being with you even when you weren't having sex. Eventually he realised he wanted more with you.
U = Upset (how do they act when you’re upset?)
Billy hates it when you're upset. He wants to be able to fix it, to make you happy. And when it's something beyond his control he loathes it. If he can fix it, he will. Instantly. No questions asked. No matter what he has to do.
If someone is the cause of your tears, he's feral. He'll make them pay for every tear you shed because of them.
V = Vaunt (what are they proud of? Do they like to show you off?)
Billy is as proud as a peacock. His biggest achievement is Anvil and he's proud of that.
His life hasn't been easy and Anvil to him is more than a company. It's a tangible representation of how far he's come in life. In how he started at the bottom and clawed his way up to the top.
He's also proud of being a former marine. He knows he did some bad things and there's part of his time there he regrets. But he's still proud to have served his country and being part of that.
Billy loves to show you off. Any galas or events and he's got you at his side, introducing you as his girl proudly. If you can't be there then he can't help talking about you.
He has a picture of you both that takes pride of place on his desk.
W = Warrior (how do they feel about you fighting? Would they fight for you, beside you, etc?)
Billy's taught you how to fight and use weapons. Of course he wants to be the one to protect you, but he's a practical man. He knows that he can't always be there. He's ensured you know how to protect yourself.
If you had to fight, he wouldn't be happy about it. He'd hate that you'd been in that situation. But he'd be super proud of you and fuss over you to make sure you're okay.
Billy would most definitely fight for you. Sometimes it isn't even necessary when he tries to go for people. You have to calm him down when someone bumps into you in the street and almost knocks you over. He'd murder someone in broad daylight.
Billy would literally go to war for you.
X = X-Ray (how well are they able to read you?)
Billy is scary with how well he can read you. You can't hide anything from him. He's super perceptive and picks up the slightest thing. Whether that's a slight change in body language, something in your eyes or voice. He always knows if somethings wrong and he knows right away if you're lying to him. Nothing gets past him.
Y = Yes (how would they propose to you?)
Billy would want to go all out and be super romantic. He'd tailor it to things you like, making sure it's all about you. He wouldn't do it out in public with an audience. Not only because of his deep rooted fear of rejection, but mostly because he wouldn't want to pressure you. It would be intimate and sweet and he'd give a long ass speech on how you changed his life and he can't live without you.
He'd also cry.
Z = Zen (what makes them feel calm?)
You. You are his safe space, his home. Any time things are intense with him, you can bring him back and soothe him. Being close to you instantly makes him feel better. Holding you in his arms calms him right down.
If you're not around then exercise. Working out helps him relieve stress.
Combining them both with sex with you… well that's just his favorite way to calm down.

Is it just me or is there a noticable pushback against criticism towards Frontiers? I don't know if it's toxic positivity necessarily but I remember the fanbase being a lot more critical than this. It's really alienating.
Nope! This is totally normal and business as usual as far as I've encountered.
An amusing "get a load of this guy" story I like to tell (and I've probably told it here before) is that during my time at TSSZ, I wrote an article called "I'm Worried About Sonic Forces." Sega was finally starting to open up about the game just a few months before its release, and I wrote an article that was pointing out that things weren't feeling quite right. What Sega was telling us and what Sega was showing us didn't line up.
A friend (or someone) later turned me on to a video on Youtube called "Why I'm NOT Worried About Sonic Forces." Some dude spent 20-30 minutes fighting back against "haters", using my article as a focal point to channel their message. They thought Sonic Forces was going to be a great game, and were tired of people dumping on Sonic games.
I poked him about using my article as a rebuttal and he seemed to get pretty flustered. I don't think he expected I would have left a comment on his video. He tried to play it off, and after some back and forth I decided it would be better if I just left the dude alone.
Of course, 9 months later, I checked back in on his channel to see if he was happy with the finished product, and he had a handful of "Ugh, Sonic Forces sucks!" videos.
Sonic as a series has a very nebulous quality where even the bad games often have appealing things about them. Even if the gameplay is an unpolished trainwreck, there are always other elements that go super hard. People get attached to those, enough that they're willing to put up with the bad stuff.
And it's hard to articulate that. It's hard to articulate why you like some things. Criticism is always easier. Always has been, always will be. If you're sitting uncomfortably, it's always pretty obvious. You're in pain, your muscles are too tight, you feel a pressure point and so on. But if you're sitting comfortably, the point is that you forget it's there. Pain is a constant nag. Comfort fades into nothing. Comfort is our default state of being, and pain is the thing that interrupts that.
Sonic games, (sometimes) for better or (more often) for worse are built differently, and people have a hard time talking about that. I mean, right now, there's a thread on Resetera called "How does Sonic keep being so popular despite the lack of quality in games?" Not only are there a variety of legitimate answers from people trying to figure it out, but there's a bunch of awful drive-by posts from clowns thinking this is them lining up for a shot at the dunk tank.
There is an ebb and flow to this stuff, and whether you're in the flow or against it really just depends on where you're looking.
Going back to my Sonic Forces article, I even tried to anticipate people pushing back on me for being too negative. A common, easy way to forgive unreleased Sonic games was to say that preview builds are not meant to be judged. I've never agreed with that, so I tried to head those people off at the pass:
"Sonic Team is keeping the game very close to their chest, making it hard to accurately get a picture of what the completed product will look like. While some may say that could be grounds to avoid passing judgment, it’s also important to keep in mind that the entire reason companies like Sega put out trailers and demonstrate the game at trade shows is to entice [you into] pre-ordering. That, in itself, is a form of judgment, and one Sega is deliberately encouraging.
Preview material is simply made to be judged, or it wouldn’t exist at all."
This is just the way things have always been.

You were humming quietly along with the dulcet sound of the Fleetwood Mac you’d left playing over the ship’s speakers, enjoying the way it echoed lightly down the metal walls of the corridor towards you. You made your way down to the cargo bay of the Benatar, your arms piled high with the sheets and blankets you’d just pilfered from your bunk. You cursed quietly to yourself as the toe of your slipper caught on a seam in the floor, tripping you up slightly as you went. Still, it did nothing to dull your good mood.
You dumped the blankets on the floor once you reached the quiet corner of the cargo bay you’d selected earlier, joining the stacks of pillows you’d already brought out between two shoulder-high storage crates. You smiled, pleased with yourself, releasing a happy sigh before setting about your self-appointed task. You never got hours like this, peaceful, simple moments without the sounds of crewmates arguing or the clattering of metal on metal. You loved your life with the Guardians, but that didn’t mean that you didn’t sometimes crave the quiet.
You bent over, searching through the stack of blankets for the biggest.
“Not that I mind the view, but you wanna tell me what you’re doing with my bedding?”
You jumped, startled, before arching your neck to look back over your shoulder. Peter Quill was standing behind you, leaning his shoulder against the ladder to the cockpit with his arms folded across his chest. He’d removed his jacket since re-boarding, the short sleeves of his tee shirt showcasing the muscles in his arms. He had an eyebrow raised in wry amusement, a trademark smirk on his lips. You rolled your eyes at him before turning back to what you were doing, unsure if you’d imagined his gaze lingering over your backside.
“Your bedding is safe. This is all from crew quarters,” you assured him. Both you and Mantis struggled with the cold of the ship when you were off world, so you’d made it a mission even before she’d joined the crew to always have more than enough blankets on board. They’d kind of become bulky souvenirs of the planets you visited, and you usually kept them stacked in a locker in the corner of the bunk you shared with her and Gamora. Thankfully now that you’d all upgraded to the Benatar, you had more space – while Quill, as captain, still had his own private quarters, there was now an extra bunk for Drax, Rocket and Groot to use. You glanced down at the pillow in front of you. “…and a few from the medical supply crate.”
“What, you finally got sick of hearing Drax’s snoring through the wall?”
You turned around to face him properly, sitting cross-legged on the floor. “Are you kidding? It’s like white noise to me now. I don’t think I could ever sleep again without an active sawmill present.” Quill chuckled. “What are you doing back? You guys only left like an hour ago.”
He shrugged. “Xandar gets boring fast.”
It was your turn to raise a brow. “There’s a whole planet out there full of gullible idiots, pretty women with loose morals, and plentiful booze. What more could you want?”
“Wow.” he snickered. “I feel seen.”
You laughed, shaking your head. “So? Why couldn’t all the wonders of Xandar’s seedy underbelly hold your attention, Star Lord?”
He ignored the question, the easy smile still on his lips. “The hell are you doing, Y/N?”
“Why don’t you come join me and find out?”
He gave you a smirk, the glint in his eyes mischievous. “Can we share the blanket?”
“I think there’s more than enough to go around,” you said dryly, and his smile widened. Your impatient answers to his flirty remarks always seemed to entertain him. Which was probably why he kept doing it. “But that would be the idea.”
“Huh?”
You pulled one of the pillows to your chest and wrapped your arms around it. “It’s a surprise. For Groot.”
“Is he sick of Drax’s snoring?”
You rolled your eyes good-naturedly, standing and shaking out one of the largest, heavier quilts. You flung it over the crates, letting it hang over them like a canopy. “I’m building him a pillow fort, jackass.”
“A pillow fort.”
“Yup.”
“A pillow fort.”
You gave him an exasperated look. “Quill.”
“Why exactly?”
“C’mon, dude.” you said, tossing a pillow at him. He caught it, one-handed, with a grin. “Didn’t you ever build a pillow fort as a kid?”
Peter was quiet for a moment before he made a show of rolling his eyes and shrugging. Still, a small smile teased at the corner of his lips. “Want a hand?”
***
You sighed in satisfaction, wiping your hands together as you surveyed your work. The two of you had, on his suggestion, shoved the crates back against the wall, and in the little alcove you’d created together was one hell of a pillow fort. You’d draped sheets and blankets over the entire thing and layered more over the metal floor. Pillows had been thrown into haphazard piles, making the whole thing seem like some kind of gaudy, cozy nest. Quill had surprised you by rigging the string of lights he and Rocket sometimes used to do repairs at night to a much lower brightness and had hung them around the makeshift tent like the fairy lights you’d had as a kid.
“I think it’s safe to say that we nailed it.” you said proudly, holding up a hand. Peter grinned beside you, slapping it with his own in a high-five. “Groot is gonna love it. Storytime was always better in a fort when I was a kid.”
“Wanna try it out?”
You grinned widely at him, and the two of you dropped to your knees at the same time. Peter held the ‘door’ open for you, letting it drop closed behind him as he crawled inside after you. You turned to collapse happily among the cushions, sighing contentment as you stretched out languidly. Peter took a similar position beside you; the two of you barely fit inside, his shoulder bumping against yours. You bent your knees and drew them up towards you to bring them inside the fort, and you hooked one over one of his. He had his bent as well, and your foot dangled a couple of inches off the floor. He tucked his hand behind his head, looking over at you with an amused smile.
“Comfy?”
Peter looked up, considering the fort. “Y’know, I don’t think we made it big enough.”
You furrowed your brow, turning your head to look at him. “What d’you mean? Groot and I will be fine in here.”
He shrugged. “I’m just sayin’, we barely fit in here as it is…”
“Why, Peter Ignatius Quill,” you said teasingly, laughing when he cocked an eyebrow at you. “Are you saying that you want to join us for story time?”
“You know that’s not my middle name, right?”
“I blanked.” you admitted with a shrug. “What is it?”
He laughed loudly, the sound breaking through the peaceful bubble the two of you had created between the blankets. “It’s Jason!”
“My bad,” you giggled, shying away from his as he reached out to poke you in the side. “It was the first thing I thought of!”
“Think of something cooler next time!”
“Alright, alright…” you surrendered, turning your head towards him and reaching over to prod his arm with a fingertip. “But don’t dodge the question. Are you – the big, bad, space pirate leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy—saying you would like to come read children’s stories with me and Groot?”
“It is such a turn on when you start describing me like that.”
You rolled your eyes. “Shut up.”
“Seriously, I get all tingly, all the way down to my—"
“You’re still avoiding the question.” you said pointedly, cutting him off. He breathed a quiet chuckle as you did, his bottom lip catching between his teeth. “Story time?”
“Well, why not?”
“You know we’ve moved past picture books, right?”
He smacked you lazily on the bicep with the back of his hand by way of retort, letting his hand fall back to rest on his stomach. He interlocked his fingers above his belt buckle, the picture of casual relaxation. Your leg was still thrown over his, your calf pressed against his inner thigh. His gaze returned to the canopy above, and you studied the angle of his jaw absentmindedly, your eyes tracing along the dusting of strawberry blonde stubble that seemed darker in the muted light. “I spent a good chunk of my quality time building this stupid thing, I should get some use out of it.”
You raised a cynical brow, amused. The two of you never could help but poke at each other with childish barbs and banter, maybe even more so than the two of you dished it out to the other members of the crew. Maybe it was a reflex at this point, but it was still always entertaining. You affected an offended tone as you spoke again, even with a smile on your face. “Well, if you think it’s so stupid, why’d you spend all this time on it?”
“It’s not…” Peter sighed, shaking his head. “Sorry. It’s not stupid. It’s just…”
Your brow furrowed as you watched him struggle to find the words. You sobered, surprised that he hadn’t caught you in your joke. Instead, he seemed… flustered. “Quill?”
“You know, I forgot about it ‘til now.” he said ruefully, almost disbelievingly. He raised a hand to run his fingers through his hair. “…I used to build these when I was a kid.”
“Yeah…” you said slowly, confused. “I mean, a lot of kids did…”
He sighed, shaking his head. “No, I mean when my Mom got sick.”
“Oh.”
It was all you could think to say.
“It got… it got really hard, once she was hospitalized.” he said, a small, sad smile playing on his lips. His voice was soft and thoughtful, almost as if he’d forgotten you were there. Even so many years later, you could hear the thread of pain in his words. He reached up to touch his fingers to the edge of one of the blankets. “I built one of these one night, and basically never left it. I’d tuck myself away in it for hours with my Walkman and just ignore the rest of the world. Got to the point where I didn’t even come out for meals; Grandpa had to drag me outta there every day for school.”
You hesitated a moment before reaching over slowly and covering his hand with your own. “Peter…”
His eyebrows twitched upward as he looked down at your hand in surprise. You felt his hand turn under yours, his fingers smoothing almost carefully over your skin as he took hold of it. He looked up, turning his head to meet your eye. “You never call me that.”
You could feel the rise and fall of his stomach against your fingers with each breath he took. The edge of his belt buckle brushed against your knuckle; a stark coldness compared to the surprising heat of his body. You meant your response to be cavalier, dismissive even, at this sudden change in the atmosphere between the two of you. Instead, it came out softly, barely more than a murmur. “Sure, I do.”
He shook his head, a small smile curving at one side of his mouth. Even though neither of you had moved, he seemed so much closer to you now, the two of you shoulder to shoulder. “No, you don’t. Not really. Closest you’ve ever gotten was tacking ‘Ignatius’ on it just now.”
You shook your head in amusement, smiling back at him. “It was a joke.”
His thumb brushed rhythmically over the back of your hand, his head turning to look back up at the blankets above you. “Sure it was.”
“What do you care?” you said teasingly. “I didn’t think you liked your first name so much, Star Lord.”
He shrugged the shoulder pressed against yours, meeting your eye again. His eyes were dark in the dull light, shining with amusement and affection. They were almost magnetic, and you felt warmth rise in your cheeks as your gaze fell to his lips briefly. You felt his hand squeeze yours, and there was a charming, knowing quirk to his lips that made your heartbeat quicken.
You swallowed as he leaned towards you, and when he spoke, his lips were barely an inch from yours, his voice was so soft that you almost didn’t hear it over your own heart.
“I don’t mind it so much when you say it.”
Peter’s lips met yours, brushing against them in a chaste, whisper of a kiss. It was soft and gentle, his nose bumping against yours. His tongue touched your bottom lip as you parted them to breathe, his thumb still smoothing circles over your hand. You felt a shiver tingle its way up your spine, and his other hand came up to slide over the leg still thrown over his as he rolled onto his side to face you. His tongue slid languidly over yours, and you could feel his smile as he kissed you more deeply.
You exhaled shakily against his lips as his hand smoothed up your thigh, and he gave a light snicker as you parted, his forehead pressed against yours.
“Apparently you really like it.” you said after a moment, your voice unsteady. He grinned, his hand still trailing slowly up your leg, and your breath caught as it teased down to your inner thigh. He moved to kiss you again, but you pressed your free hand to his chest. “Peter.”
He smiled softly and reached up to tuck hair behind your ear, his fingers trailing along your jaw. “Yeah?”
“What exactly are we doing?”
He smirked, his face moving towards yours again. “Want me to draw you a diagram?”
Peter kissed you again, his hand on the side of your neck. You let it linger for a moment, your fingers curling in the front of his shirt and tugging him closer. Peter responded eagerly, his hand moving down to take hold of your hip and pulling you towards him. You rolled onto your side, and Peter slung your leg up over his hip, his hand sliding up the back of it. It lingered just below the curve of your ass, gripping your leg almost possessively.
You felt his hips press suggestively into yours, and you couldn’t help but whimper against his lips, your hand tugging at the hair at the back of his head. Peter chuckled as you did, and you pulled away, embarrassed by your reaction.
You moved your hand to his shoulder, avoiding his gaze and looking down at his chest. You took a steadying breath, willing your heart to stop pounding. “Peter.”
You could feel a quiet laugh in his chest, his hand moving up to your waist. You shivered as his fingers ghosted up under your shirt to tease at bare skin. “Y/N.”
Your lips parted, intent on questioning him again… to ask what you were doing, where this sudden change in your friendship had come from… to ask what would happen later, if you didn’t stop. But then you felt the gentle, affectionate brush of his lips against your forehead, and suddenly, you didn’t feel the need to talk anymore. Instead, you met his eyes for a moment before you kissed him again, cupping his cheek in your hand.
Peter smiled into the kiss, the hand on your hip moving to the small of your back, urging you closer to him. The cold metal of his belt buckle was a stark contrast to the heat of his body, and your ran your other hand down his stomach to the hem of his shirt. He groaned lightly into your mouth as your fingers crept under his shirt to caress the smooth skin of his stomach. You traced your nails over the muscles, and they twitched in response.
His hand moved to your ass, squeezing it eagerly and urging you closer. Peter slung his hips into yours, and you whimpered into his kiss at the feeling of him hardening against your thigh. Your hand moved to his side, and he broke the kiss with a light laugh, his face falling to the crook of your neck.
You grinned widely. “Are you ticklish?”
“Pfft, no!” he scoffed obnoxiously, wriggling away from you as you ran your fingertips across his waist again. “You—”
He caught hold of your hands, forcing you onto your back and straddling your waist. He pinned them on either side of your head, a cocksure smirk on his face as he looked down at you. “Now you’re in trouble.”
You snickered, wetting your lips with your tongue. You pushed your hips up into his suggestively. “Yeah? What are you gonna do about it, Star Lord?”
His grin widened, interlacing his fingers with yours and moving them above your head as he bent down towards you. His nose brushed lightly against yours, his mouth hovering teasingly above yours. You arched up to kiss him again, and he moved out of reach playfully, instead trailing kisses along your jaw and down the side of your neck.
He lingered over your pulse point, and your eyes closed, a light moan escaping you as he sucked a mark into your skin. “Oh, well, that just sounded… cute.” He murmured against your skin, releasing your hands, and tugging your shirt up over your stomach. “But, that’s not what I’m looking for.”
He moved down to press kisses down your stomach, and you ran a hand through his hair. He leaned into it as he undid your jeans with practiced ease, and your hand tightened reflexively as he tugged them roughly down your thighs. Goosebumps erupted over your legs, his nose ghosting over your stomach and his teeth catching the waistband of your underwear and snapping it against your skin teasingly.
“And what exactly are you— Oh!” you jerked under him as he forced your legs apart and bit your inner thigh, his hands gripping tightly at your hips as he lathed his tongue over the mark he left behind.
“Closer…”
“I’m not ticklish, Quill.” you told him, rolling your eyes as you caught on to what he was trying to do. “But I— fuck, Peter!”
You bucked under him as he pushed your underwear to the side and rolled his tongue against your clit, your hand tightening in his hair. He snickered at your reaction, the sound devolving into a groan as your nails scraped against his scalp, his stubble agitating the sensitive skin of your inner thigh as he brought you undone with his tongue.
The lights danced behind your eyelids as Peter slid two fingers inside you; tucked away in your little oasis and feeling everything he did to you made your heart flutter and your stomach tighten. You grabbed at the pillow under your head as you rolled your hips up into him, your chest heaving. “Pete—fuck, don’t… God, I’m gonna—”
He sucked on your clit and you came, arching up against him and your thighs clenching around him. You moaned aloud as you did, too loud for your little hideaway, eyes squeezed shut and toes curling. Peter continued to slowly pump his fingers inside you as he moved up to kiss your hip softly before straightening into a kneel between your legs. He watched his hand, his thumb circling lightly over your clit. He broke into a wide smirk as you twitched at the sensation, his eyes travelling up your body to your face. “Yeah, you love it.”
You bumped your knee hard against his side by way of retort and he finally withdrew his hand with a grin, holding your gaze as he licked his fingers clean. “You’re an ass.”
“Yeah?” he ran a hand up your thigh, his other unbuckling his belt. “What are you gonna do about it?”
You pushed yourself up onto your elbow, fisting a hand in his shirt and dragging him down for a kiss. It was long, and languid, his tongue sliding over yours, his hand on your hip and his thumb hooked in the waistband of your underwear. You broke away to tug at his shirt pointedly and he straightened to pull it off. Your eyes followed the muscles of his arms, your hand smoothing over a pectoral as he leaned down to kiss you again. He dropped the shirt to the side, moving to remove yours as well.
You stopped him, urging him back down onto the cushions. You swung a leg over his hips slowly, running your hands down his chest before pulling off your shirt. Peter’s eyes dropped heatedly to your chest as you unclipped your bra, his lips parting. He looked almost awed as he stared up at you, his face cast in shadows by the dull lights above you. Your spine tingled at his expression, and you held his gaze as you ran your hands over your chest and rolled your hips slowly over his.
Peter’s head fall back against the pillows at the sensation, his eyes closing and a soft groan slipping between his lips. The sound was intoxicating, as was the feeling of the hard length of his erection pressing up against you. You bit your lip, brow creased as you slowly continued to grind against him. His hands slid up over your thighs, squeezing them rhythmically with every roll of your hips.
You scratched your nails lightly down his stomach before unfastening his pants and wrapping your fingers around his cock. His breath caught as you did, leaving him in a shaky sigh as you stroked him, moved your underwear to the side and slowly sunk down onto his erection. “Jesus Christ, Y/N…”
“Yeah,” you said breathlessly, offering him a cocky smile of your own. “You love it.”
He laughed quietly, taking hold of your hips as you began to fuck yourself onto him slowly. You leaned forward to take hold of his biceps, enjoying the feel of the bulging muscles under your hands as you rode him. He encouraged you to grind against his pelvic bone and you whimpered; you could feel him stretching you wonderfully, each corkscrew of your hips sending sparks dancing up your lower back.
“Fuck, you feel good,” he muttered, watching you with half-lidded eyes. He ran a hand up your side to your ribs, his thumb resting along the curve of the underside of your breast. “You’re like… fuck, you’re like…”
“Having trouble finding the words there, Star Lord?” you teased quietly, your head lolling back, your eyes closed. You moaned as he pinched your nipple, rolling it between his fingers.
“Can’t help it,” he replied, exhaling slowly as you down to press kisses to his collarbone. His hand moved to your hair, bunching by your ear, and you felt his lips brush the top of your head. “None of my blood is exactly rushing to my brain right now.”
“I’m flattered,” you joked lightly, nipping playfully at his throat.
“But I can say: you call me that again, and this’ll be over a lot quicker than it should be.”
You giggled into his neck, kissing him headily before straightening again. You ran your hands up your sides, bouncing languidly on top of him. Each rise and fall had him sliding against your g-spot, and you bit your lip, your eyes rolling back as his hand returned to your sex. He circled your clit with his thumb and you moaned brokenly.
“Has anyone ever told you that you’ve got fucking fantastic tits, sweets?”
You whined, cupping your breasts and squeezing. Your hips jerked as he pinched your clit, and he swore, thrusting up into you. “Somehow, it – oh, fuck, Peter—”
“God, you’ve got the sweetest voice,” he sat up, his free hand ghosting up your side and gliding over your chest. You shivered at the feeling of it, falling against him, your hips never stopping. Peter’s fingers quickened on your clit as you wrapped your arms around his neck, and he murmured in your ear as you tightened around him, an intoxicating mix of sweet nothings and cursing. You ran your fingers through his hair, clinging to him s you felt your orgasm approach.
Peter wrapped his other arm around your waist and bit down on your shoulder, and you came with a cry, hips stuttering against his as each wave of it hit.
Peter hooked his fingers under your chin and raised it gently from where your face was buried against his neck, pressing a kiss to your temple… your cheek… your forehead… the tip of your nose… as you came down, before cupping your face in his hand and capturing you in another breath-stealing kiss.
You rode him unsteadily as your hips shuddered with aftershocks, your thighs squeezing around him. Peter grunted against your lips, his moan muffled as he came, still buried inside you.
“Y/N…”
You kissed him again, your chest heaving against his, eyes fluttering open as you finally caught your breath. “Mmm?”
He grinned at you, pushing hair out of your face with a careful hand. “Yeah. You love it.”
You shoved at his chest, smiling as he laughed in response. You climbed off of his lap shakily, your face warm. “You’re such a—”
Peter let himself fall back against the pillows again, refastening his pants but not bothering with his belt. “Heartthrob? Casanova? Sexual—”
“Deviant?”
Peter smirked, reaching up to ruffle your hair. You ducked away from him, smacking at his arm as you found your bra and clipped it back into place. “Where’re you going?”
“The last thing we need is for the crew to come back and find us like this,” you pointed out, tugging on your pants and the first shirt you grabbed. “Rocket’ll never let us hear the end of it, and Drax’ll be… Drax.”
“That’s a good look on you.” Peter said, his hands tucked behind his head. You looked down at yourself; you’d pulled on his shirt instead of your own. You flushed, but he caught hold of your wrist before you could pull it off again. “Leave it.”
You smiled down at him softly, tucking hair behind your ear. “Isn’t that just as obvious?”
Peter’s hand moved down to your hand, delicately interlacing his fingers with yours. “Would it be so bad?”
“You… you want the others to know about this?”
He pushed himself up onto his elbow, his free hand sliding against the side of your neck and giving you an affectionate smile before pulling you down for a soft, lingering kiss.

The winter wind howled outside the window and snow drifted across the windowpanes, but inside Frederick Chilton’s ornate home you were safe and warm. No, our home, I live here now, you thought to yourself. You were still getting used to thinking of it as your home, too. You were unpacking the last of the boxes from your recent move. A fire was roaring in the living room fireplace, giving the room a cozy, comforting glow. You inhaled the aroma of the hearty vegetable stew that was cooking in the crockpot in the kitchen, and your stomach growled. You were going to need to take a dinner break soon, and as if he was reading your mind, Frederick entered the room and came over to where you were placing your books on the expansive built-in shelves.
“How goes it with the books? Do you need more shelf space? I can always move somethings into my office if you need more.”
“Thank you, Frederick, but don’t worry; I think I have more than enough. I am, however, getting rather hungry. I think it’s time we ate dinner, don’t you?
“I couldn’t agree more, my love, shall I set the table?” he asked, taking your hand, and helping you to your feet.
“Thank you, Frederick, that would be lovely.”
*****************
“This stew is fantastic, my love! We’ll most certainly have to use this recipe again.”
When you didn’t respond right away, Frederick started to worry and reached for your hand. “Darling?”
“Oh! Sorry! I zoned out for a moment, must be more tired than I thought; Thank you, Frederick, I have a whole slew of crock pot recipes that are perfect for cold winter days.”
“Y/N, are you alright? Have I done something wrong? Is it the house? Is there something you’re not happy with?”
“What? Oh, Frederick, no!” You squeezed his reassuringly. “You haven’t done anything wrong, my love, and the house is perfectly fine. It’s just…” you paused, not sure how to broach your thoughts.
“What is it? Whatever you need, I’ll make sure you have it! Cost is no object!”
You took a breath and tried to collect your thoughts. You loved cats, but your previous apartment had not allowed pets. You had promised yourself that when you eventually moved you would be a cat mom again. It had been far too long. But it was something that you and Frederick hadn’t discussed yet, and you had no idea what his feelings were on the subject.
“What did you think about getting a cat?” You blurted out, bracing yourself for what you were sure was going to be an argument.
It was now Frederick’s turn to go silent, taken aback by your unexpected query. He mulled it over in his head before answering.
“Honestly, my love, I’ve never thought about it before. I never had a pet of any kind growing up. My parents did not allow animals in the house.”
“Oh, Frederick, I’m so sorry, I didn’t know.” In theory, you knew you probably should have guessed that. You knew that Frederick’s father had been a hard, cruel man, and had been abusive toward Frederick and his mother. Frederick’s mother had been so worn down by it that she eventually shutdown, mentally and emotionally, and neglected to protect her son when he needed it the most. Of course, they hadn’t allowed pets, they hadn’t even allowed their son to have a normal childhood, or an ounce of happiness.
“My darling, you have nothing to apologize for,” said Frederick, placing soft kisses on the back of your hand. “If it’s a cat you want, then a cat you shall have. I’ll do some research after we finish here. Cats need supplies, right? Food, litter, toys, those fancy cat trees, cute little sweaters?”
****************
After dinner you and Frederick sat side-by-side on the couch with your laptops, him researching what kind of supplies you going to need to buy, and you were looking at your local SPCA’s website.
“Good god, I had no idea how many different types of cat litter there were!”
“Oh, Frederick, if you think that’s bad, wait until you see how competitive the cat food market is. Hmm…that’s interesting…”
“What is it?” asked Frederick, looking over at your laptop.
“This listing here,” you said, pointing at a blank gray box. “There should be a picture here, like there is for the other listings, but it’s blank. It says it’s supposed to be a 2-month-old black female…. hang on; I have an idea.”
You grabbed your phone off the coffee table and scrolled through your contacts until you found the name you were looking for. You hit “Call” and waited.
“Hello?” A voice finally picked up on the other end.
“Joanne! Hi! It’s Y/N. How are you?”
“I’m great, how are you? It’s been ages since the last time we hung out.”
“I’m good, and you’re right; it has been too long. Is this a good time to talk?”
“Sure! What’s up?”
“Do you still work for the county SPCA?”
“Oh, you bet I do! Oh my god, are you finally in the market to adopt?”
“Yes, I am, and I have a question about one of the cat listings on the website. The one that’s missing a picture?”
“Yes, I just noticed that a few hours ago. Our website person put that up prematurely. The kitten was just spayed, and normally we wait until the animal has had adequate recovery time before we add them to the site, but accidents happen. Last I checked, the little one is recovering nicely and should be ready to interact a couple days. She’s the sweetest thing. Someone dumped her in a cardboard box at our front door. She had a leg injury, but that’s also healing up. She loves to play, loves to cuddle, and I’ll think she’ll thrive in a good home. Would you like to make an appointment to see her?”
“Yes, I would! What time slots do you have available?”
*******************
A few days later, you and Frederick walked arm in arm into the county SPCA. Frederick had rush-ordered all the supplies you thought you’d need and then some. You both excited and nervous. You’d already taken a huge step by moving in together, and now you were adopting a pet. You looked over at Frederick and noticed the uncertainty in his eyes. He also seemed leaning on his cane for support. He always seemed to do that when he was unsure about something. You gave his arm a gentle squeeze and kissed his cheek.
“It’s going to be okay, Frederick, you’re to be a wonderful cat dad. I believe in you.”
Frederick blushed and placed a soft kiss on your temple.
“Thank you, my love, I appreciate your faith in me, even though I’m still not sure what’s done to deserve it, or you.”
Before you could respond to that, Joanne came out her office and rushed toward you.
“Y/N! It’s so good to see you!”
“It’s good to see you, too, Joanne.” You enveloped her in a big hug and then motioned to Frederick. “Joanne, this is Dr. Frederick Chilton, my Frederick.”
Frederick gave you the most loving of looks, and nearly melted into a puddle at your feet at sound of you referring to him as “your Frederick.”
“Nice to meet you, Dr. Chilton,” said Joanne, extending her hand.
“And you,” he replied, shaking hands.
“Well, I suppose you want to meet the little one; right this way!”
You and Frederick followed Joanne to cat section of the shelter. You walked past several cats, each one trying to get your attention from their enclosures. If you had your way, you’d take them all home, but you didn’t think Frederick was quite ready for that yet; but maybe one day…
“Here she is, “announced Joanne, stopping in front of one of the enclosures. A tiny black, fluffy kitten was inside, and her eyes lit up when she saw you. She was immediately on her feet, and you noticed she still had a slight limp in her injured leg, but she was full of energy and mewing incessantly. Joanne opened the door and carefully lifted her out. You reached out to take her, but the impatient kitten leapt out of Joanne’s hands and into your waiting arms.
“Oh! Hello! Hi baby, hi sweetheart,” you cooed.
“Mew, mew, mew!”
You looked into her eyes, and it was love at first sight. You did your best to hold onto her, shifting and adjusting your arms to accommodate her constant movement and attempts to climb up your shoulder. You gave her a little scratch between her ears and kissed her head. She was perfect.
“Mew! Mew!”
“Yes, baby, it’s okay, I’ve got you, I’ve got you.”
Frederick stood there watching you with the kitten, completely dumbstruck. Just when he thought he couldn’t fall anymore in love with you, you had to go and surprise him. You were a natural cat mom, cradling the tiny ball of fluff and talking to her like she was a human. He saw the kitten rub her nose against your chin and looked like she was giving you kisses. He also saw the look of pure love and joy on your face, and he lived for that, wanted to see that every day. He didn’t know anything about raising a cat, but for you, he would try.
**************
Joanne led you to a visitor’s room so that you and Frederick could spend some quality time getting to know the kitten. Frederick removed his coat and offered to take the kitten so that you could take off yours. You demonstrated how to hold the kitten and then handed her to Frederick. He held her close to chest and sat down.
“Mew?” the kitten looked up at him, confused as to who this new person was.
“It’s alright, little one, I’ve got you,” he tried to reassure her. A lock of his normally perfectly quaffed hair suddenly flopped in his face, and the kitten’s eyes grew wide.
“Mew?” she raised a paw and tentatively batted at Frederick’s hair. “Mew…”
“Oh, that’s adorable,” you said, plopping down next to them on a bean bag chair. You saw the smile on his face and nudged him with your elbow. “See? She likes you. And I think she wants to play.” You looked around the room and saw the toy boxes, filled with various dog and cat toys, but then something else caught your eye. “Frederick?”
“Yes, my love?”
“Hand her back to me and take off your scarf, please.”
He did as he was told. You carefully placed the kitten on the carpet and proceeded to dangle the scarf in front if her. Her eyes went wide again, and then she crouched, wiggled her backside, and pounced. Her little paws batted at the scarf, then she would roll around kick at it with her hind legs.
“It certainly looks like she’s enjoying herself,” Frederick chuckled. “So, what are we going to call her?”
“I was thinking ‘Buttercup”,” you said matter-of-factly.
“I am not the least bit surprised,” he replied, immediately picking up on your reference. He looked at the kitten. “Well, what do you think about that little one?”
“Mew?”
“Your name,” you told her, “Buttercup, do you like it?”
“Mew, mew.” She forgot about the scarf and crawled into your lap, kneading you with her paws.
“I think she likes it.” You threw Frederick a smile.
“Yes, I quite think she does. I have an idea, how about a story? Would you like that Buttercup?”
“Mew.” She replied with a yawn,
“Darling, if you check your bag, I believe you’ll find a book there.”
You checked your purse, and sure enough, in the largest section was a children’s book, one that you instantly recognized from your own childhood.
“If You Give A Mouse A Cookie?”
“It came highly recommended by the lady at the bookstore.”
“It’s perfect, Frederick.” You handed him the book and leaned your head against his knee. As he began to read, Buttercup curled up in your lap and shut her eyes, she was soon fast asleep, purring away. When he finished reading, Frederick caressed your cheek with hand to get your attention.
“So, shall we go find Joanne and make it official?”
“Yes,” you replied, gazing down at Buttercup, “If we don’t take her home today, I think I’ll cry.”
“Then let’s go fill out the paperwork and bring her home.”

Ok so I was reading your little streamer au story Just a Joke and that part about the matchbox bed had me thinking, what if Tommy did a stream where he just showed off his house? Like, just walked the camera from room to room and talked about different stuff he had for fun. (Probably not his whole house, just his bedroom and maybe one other him sized room if he has it)
He would probably see nothing wrong with most of it (or even if he does, he doesn’t think it’s a big deal and ignores it, thinking everyone else will do the same) but his friends see how poorly made and “diy” everything looks (like his bed) and start thinking about how all tinys have to live like that.
I imagine Wilber especially starts to feel bad, looking around his house and seeing all the stuff he takes for granted, all things that tinys could only get a poorer version of, if they got a version at all.
Not to mention, Tommy seems to be a bit better off then a lot of tinys, so some don’t even have the stuff he does, and/or have ones of even lesser quality.
Maybe it’s just a one off little “oh...that sucks...” or maybe they try to do something about it. Idk, just think it’s a cute and sad idea. (I have more to say about this idea, but I don’t want bombard you with a super duper long ask, so just take these basics for now I guess, sorry)

House Tour
————————
Little Streamer AU
CW: language
Notes: Woah little streamer content?? In this economy??? More likely than you think. And thank you so much for this awesome idea tired anon I love it :D Without further ado have a fun tiny Tommy housetour followed by Wilbur’s confusion over tiny culture
————————
Tommy hadn’t been this excited for a stream in a long time, but as he set up everything he was practically bouncing on his feet.
He was going to do a house tour- or a room tour- for the chat since they’d only ever seen a bit of it in the background. It was a lot different from his normal content, but it felt refreshing doing something so new.
When he finally stepped back and looked at everything a grin spread across his face. He didn’t think his room had looked this nice since the day they built it. His red sheets were perfectly tucked into his matchbox bed, his dollhouse desk was wiped down and shiny, and even his scrap-fabric rug was dusted.
Pride swelled up in his chest at the sight.
“Mom!” he yelled as he peaked his head through the “window” in his room. It really was just a hole in the wall to the human part of the house, but it also let light in to his room. “I’m gonna be streaming soon!”
He didn’t even wait for an answer before he happily popped back into his small room. It was still a little dusty since it was inside of a wall, but there was nothing he could really do about that. The viewers would just have to deal with it, he mused.
Quickly he sent out a tweet for his stream and hit “go live” on his pc. Almost immediately people flooded the chat even though it was still just his starting soon screen, and one name in particular caught his eye.
WilburSoot: this is not exciting
Tommy grinned and stifled the laugh that threatened to burst out of his chest. Of course Wilbur was messing with him, who would he be if he wasn’t messing with the tiny. And even though it was just one message Tommy was excited to know he was there.
Wilbur had actually been the one to convince him to do a house tour. Tommy never really thought his room was much, it was decently sized but not very exciting, but still Wilbur thought it would be a fun idea for an easy stream. The tiny still has been pretty iffy about the idea but after constant nagging from his brother-figure he gave in.
“Hello chat!” Tommy yelled as he switched his screen to his camera. Dramatically he swung it around to zoom in on his face.
“How are you doing today? I’m doing so well,” he grinned, “Today’s gonna be a little different actually- spicing things up Yaknow. You get to see my big man home!”
The chat blurred in the corner of his eye as he explained what the stream would be, and chugged a cup of coke he’d poured right before he started. It was all going well, and they seemed to like it a lot more than he thought they would.
First Tommy stood up from his desk and pointed it at his setup, “See this is where the magic happens boys.”
He laughed as the chat flew by even faster with one message catching his eye.
“Hey it is not a Polly pocket desk it is a Barbie Ken desk,” he pouted, “please I’m better than that.”
Step by step he moved across his room explaining his furniture and showing off his favorite things. They got to see his cardboard bed, his “borrower hook” he’d been trying to teach himself how to use, and even his “spider hole” in the wall where bugs got into his room.
Most of the time the chat seemed to find it funny, but every once in a while people seemed concerned. He just chalked it up to humans though.
At the end of the stream he put the camera on his desk and jumped up on his bed to say goodbye. To make it even funnier he loaded the tiny nerf gun Wilbur had bought him a while back and tried to shoot the camera.
“I’m gonna shoot you if you don’t leave, go!” he yelled jokingly, “Disparse! Leave! Go home!”
Once the chat seemed to calm down a bit he said his actual goodbyes and teaches as the screen turned dark. Just like always he let out a breath of relief that the stream went well. He enjoyed streaming, but it was still stressful trying to make sure everything went right.
After a minute he fell back onto his bed and scrolled through his phone until discord dm flashed on his screen.
WilburSoot: how did you get a whole fake room for a stream??
Tommy frowned and quickly opened the app staring at the message.
Tommyinnit: what? vc?
The tiny sat back against his bed and waited for his friend to respond as anxiety curled up in his gut.
“Tommy?” Wilbur’s voice crackled.
“Hey Wil, what the fuck do you mean?”
Through his phone he could hear Wilbur shifting around as he stumbled on what to say, “That room.”
Tommy frowned and tilted his head even though he knew the human couldn’t see it, “What about it?”
“What- that can’t be your room, right?” Wilbur’s laugh boomed, “It was a good joke though.”
“Wait wait Wil,” Tommy fumbled, “What the fuck do you mean? This is my room.”
The silence that filled the call almost made Tommy wish he hadn’t said anything at all.
“Huh?”
“Uh yeah,” Tommy coughed, “That really was my room, what’s wrong?”
Wilbur’s staticky hum echoed through his phone, “Oh uh… I don’t know I thought you’d have like…actual furniture?”
“I mean, it works doesn’t it,” Tommy frowned as he leaned back against his sheets, kicking up his feet on the edge of the box, “It’s not that bad.”
“Tommy,” Wilbur paused, “you sleep in a box.”
The tiny froze and stared at the worm edges of the matchbox he slept in. He never really thought about it. It was pretty normal for tinies considering how expensive real furniture was, and he was probably better off than a lot of other tinies.
“Uh well yeah big man,” Tommy stuttered, “I’m a tiny.”
“Well no shit I know that but shouldn’t you have like an actual bed? You have a real pc!” Wilbur said, getting louder by the second.
“Well yeah,” Tommy muttered, “But spending over a thousand pounds on a bed frame just doesn’t seem worth it to me okay?”
Again silence filled the call, and it lasted so long tommy thought the human had left.
Wilbur was the one to break the silence, “One thousand pounds?”
“For a shitty one yeah,” Tommy frowned. He still remembered the day his parents had searched endlessly for any bed frames only to find that they were all thousands of pounds. They had seemed so upset about it, but Tommy never really cared.
“Shit, I’m sorry,” Wilbur dropped, “I shouldn’t have said anything I didn’t know.”
“It’s alright,” Tommy smiled, I’m the corner of his eye he saw one of the hoodies he’d bought during his last visit with Wilbur, “But my spider hole is very real and very important to me.”
Wilbur’s loud laugh burst through the phone making the tiny’s heart swell. He missed the human more than he’d admit, and it was always nice hearing his friend’s voice- even if he was just joking about his spider hole.
“Yeah yeah, your spider holes fine. Very normal,” Wilbur joked before his voice steadied, “Seriously though, sorry about thinking it was a joke. I just- I don’t know. I feel like maybe I’ve taken my things for granted. I didn’t mean to seem rude though I-
“Nah stop,” Tommy smiled, “Your house is shit man, I’ve been there.”
The tiny stared at Wilbur’s profile picture as his wheezy laugh filled the room.
“Yeah yeah whatever,” and then an added, “love you Tom.”
Before Tommy could respond he heard the ding signalling Wilbur had left the call. The silence in his room now only filled by the sound of his parents shuffling around somewhere else in the house.
“Yeah,” Tommy hummed, “Love you too Wil.”

I Promise (Part 1/2)
Pairing: Chris Beck x Reader Word Count: 4106 Warnings: fluff, smut, pregnancy
Summary: Before heading to Mars Chris Beck reconnects with his best friend, unaware of the outcome of their night together. With the burden of his mission will Chris make a promise he can’t keep?
A/N: My first Chris Beck fic! Rather than a really long one shot I’m splitting it into two parts. A big thank you to my love Allie @all1e23 for beta reading 🍕❤️ gif source (x)
“Hey.”
The soft resonance of Chris’ voice brings tears to your eyes, ones you couldn’t help from slipping out. They fall down the curve of your cheeks past the uneasy smile you wore.
“I kept my promise,” he said. Chris flashed the top row of his bright white teeth, his mouth curving into a boyish smile that reached his eyes, the fine lines crinkling around them. He tilted his head as he looked at you through the screen, a comforting gaze that made you feel as if he was there with you.
The quality of the video chat is near perfect making you almost forget Chris was millions of miles away. He looked the same, not that you expected him to look different. It had only been a few months since you last saw each other.
His hair looks darker than usual but you suppose it’s the low lighting of the small room he’s in. He’s bundled up in a thick NASA sweatshirt and you can see several more layers he has on beneath the collar. Chris looks tired but that’s expected, what he’s doing right now is not a walk in the park. You know it’s the reason why it’s taken so long for him to contact you but you wish he did it sooner.
More tears flood your eyes, burning their way out as you wished he never left at all. You can barely hear Chris over the sound of your own sobs.
“Please dont cry,” he pleaded.
You lifted your head towards the screen and seeing the concern on his face only made you miss him more, wishing he was there to console you in person.
Your hand swept away tears from your cheek as your voice cracked saying his name. “Chris…”
The streets are simmering with the heat of a summer that couldn’t wait to officially start. Calendars be damned, it was hot. You indulged in a cool shower when you got home from work but time didn’t allow for a languid evening of staying in your towel as you applied serums and moisturizers, lotions and creams and every other post-shower pampering you normally do. Tonight was dinner with a friend and you needed to get ready.
Chatter filled the air of the patio, a small secluded outdoor space at the back of an Italian restaurant on the Upper East Side. It had an Old World Tuscan feel, from the stucco walls that looked purposely imperfect. Green patina shutters hung beside a wrought iron lantern that glowed in the early evening. Lush greens and bright flowers sat atop the half wall that surrounded the dining area making you forget you were in the city.
Chris looked the same, not that you expected him to be different. It had only been about two years since you’ve seen each other, right before he began training for his mission and now you can’t believe it was about to happen. Never would you have expected that the little boy down the block who became your best friend would actually be going to Mars.
For most of your lives you were in the same school, starting in Mrs. Kramer’s kindergarten class where you stuck together; two kids that were nervous about making friends and finding comfort in each other. As the years went on you weren’t always in the same classes but your friendship continued to grow. Chris was picked on for having a girl as a best friend and the girls always teased that he was your “boyfriend.” It never felt that way with Chris. He was your friend first and you never saw him as anything more.
By the time you were in middle school Chris was already taking advanced classes in math and science and the only class you had together was art which he was famously terrible at. It was there you asked him a huge favor, whispering to him at the sink as you rinsed off your paint brushes. “Could you kiss me?” Chris turned as red as a boiling lobster, immediately sweating as if he was being roasted alive himself. It was later that day walking home from school that you clarified what you meant.
There was a boy, Justin Kaufman, who was the coolest kid in your grade. You had a crush on him like everyone else and you were shocked when he asked if you would go with him to the dance on Friday. You were worried he might try to kiss you and being inexperienced made you nervous. Justin was really popular and if you were a bad kisser then the whole school would know it. Chris was your friend, someone you trusted, someone you could practice with just to make sure you didn’t make a fool of yourself.
You had no frame of reference for kissing back then apart from one sided smooches to pictures of movie stars that you had a crush on. But feeling Chris’ lips press back against yours was… nice. The best part about it was that things didn’t feel awkward after. Chris was still your best friend and nothing changed.
A server hands you a menu and you thank him, scanning through it to see what you might be interested in. Chris looks up at the same time you do, wondering if you wanted an appetizer. You nodded letting him choose, considering the limited food options he’ll have for over the next year.
“Can you drink?”
Chris’ nose crinkled as he smiled. “In space? No. Tonight? Yes,” he chuckled softly.
Two glasses of red wine were set on the table as you indulged in delicious food, catching up as much as you could before Chris’ mission.
“So you’d love what happened today,” you began, leaning closer, “We filmed a restoration video and yours truly was in it.”
Chris’ eyes lit up as he gasped. “I love those! You have to send it to me. Hopefully I can see it before I go. What was it?”
“A sixteenth century European oil painting.” You went into detail and Chris loved listening to your knowledge of art history. It was no wonder that was your major, taking your studies further to work as a conservator at the Met.
Chris swallowed his food quickly to speak. “You were always good at that– art, attention to detail. Remember when we had to sculpt our own faces?” he chuckled.
There was a short burst of laughter as you remembered that day from so long ago. “Yes! Thankfully the real you doesn’t look anything like that abomination you made.”
Chris drops his head down to hide a bashful smile that mixed in with laughter. He’s enjoying himself, catching up with you, eating. This was so good. He couldn’t help but scoop up another forkful of pasta, not expecting you to ask him a question. “So, how are you feeling?”
He paused to reflect and wiped a bit of sauce from the corner of his mouth. “I’m nervous… excited.” Taking a sip of wine, he sets the glass down carefully on the table. Chris’ face has grown more serious. “My mom’s worried.”
“Of course she is, I don’t blame her. I’m worried. Mars is… well it’s Mars! It’s not around the block.”
He chuckled. “No, it’s definitely not.”
Chris is heading home to Connecticut tomorrow to spend the next few days with his parents. Chloe, his younger sister is coming in as well so they can all spend some time together before he has to fly down to Florida.
“Then it’s go for launch!” he said with a beaming smile, though Chris had to correct himself for the sake of accuracy. Once he’s down there the crew has to quarantine for at least ten days and go through a bunch of pre-flight checkups and procedures first. “Are you gonna watch?”
The incredulous look you gave him answered his question. “Did you really have to ask? Of course I’m going to watch the launch.”
His eyes twinkled as he smiled back at you. “Oh and don’t worry I put you on my contact list so you can send me emails. Not sure how quickly I'll get them since CAPCOM directs it back to us. And as long as we have the right satellite coverage we can even do video calls.”
“Like Facetime?”
“In theory yeah, more like space Skype,” he laughed. “It’ll be nice to stay in touch.”
Your smile was bright in the dimness of the evening. You can’t imagine not staying in touch with Chris. The longest you had ever gone was during his Air Force training. He checked in with his parents when he first arrived and from then on it was sporadic. You were able to send him letters though and tried to write him every week though your own schooling and an apprenticeship at the Louvre had taken up a lot of time but that was how your relationship was.
No matter where you were in life, across the world or hovering above it in the International Space Station, you always kept in touch. It’ll be harder now considering he’s going farther than ever before but you’ll make it work.
Chris would be back by next November and his mom was already planning a big party for his return, one he’s certain you’ll be invited to. Though you haven’t seen his parents in a while you still kept in touch with them from time to time seeing as they were still friends with your own parents.
“It’s crazy to think you’re about to go to Mars.”
Chris swipes a palm down his mouth, leaning his elbows against the table as he muses, “I know. Feels like I got the call yesterday.”
It was a night similar to this one, where Chris was in New York celebrating with you and other friends on his selection to be part of the Ares III mission. He had been working at NASA for a few years, doing biomedical research in their center in Virginia and now he was about a month out from spending two years training for his long term mission to Mars.
He stayed at your apartment that night, continuing the celebration in your own private way. You had come a long way from learning to kiss with Chris. It wasn’t a big deal, neither was it the first time you had sex with each other. It was a special dynamic that worked for the two of you, one you don’t think you could have pulled off with anyone else. With Chris you had trust that was built up over the years. He was safe, he was your friend and this was nothing more than just sex.
It didn’t happen too often, a couple of times here and there. You both dated a few people over the years and even though you were single at the moment you thought about the promise you made to each other as teens. “If we’re not married to other people by the time we’re thirty let’s promise we’ll marry each other.” Such a silly promise but thirty seemed so far away at the time.
Chris couldn’t make it to celebrate for your thirtieth birthday but you did get a card from him where he joked that the wedding was off. You were in a long term relationship, one that Chris thought would lead to marriage but you ended things a year later. It wasn’t there; that natural spark that made your heart skip a beat every time they smiled brighter than the sun, or when their eyes sparkled like stars in the night every time they looked at you.
You walked through the streets with Chris after dinner, casually strolling back towards your apartment and stretching out the inevitable goodbye that you didn’t want to say. It was so good to be with him in person again, not realizing how badly you missed it until the hours started ticking closer towards him leaving. By the time you get to your apartment Chris decided to come up stairs, wanting to spend as much of his time with you as he could.
Chris sits comfortably on your couch, cozied up beside a large pillow. He places his wine glass down on your coffee table, needing to gesticulate with both hands as he starts getting into talking about his research. He’s been published before in numerous academic journals and now he’s going on about how excited he is for his latest topic, musculoskeletal alterations and the effects of deep space travel.
He’s cute when he really gets into it, crinkles pulling around the corner of his eyes as his whole face lights up. You let out a shaky breath, smiling even wider yourself as you watched the passion he had for science and learning, one that matched the level you had for art and preserving their history.
Chris apologized for rambling on, taking a sip of wine to clear the dryness from his throat.
“So, give me the lowdown… can you jerk off in space?”
He covered his mouth to prevent the wine he was choking on from spitting out. You couldn’t help the sly smile on your face that cracked wider the redder he became.
“Well?”
Chris cleared his throat again. Pinching the bridge of his nose he looked down into his glass, chuckling a bit as he said, “The official stance from NASA is no comment so I’m going to stick with that.”
“That’s not an answer!” You could barely hold a faux sneer before you broke into a smile. Teasing Chris was all in good fun, something that went both ways from the time you were young.
You adjusted the way your legs were folded underneath you, brushing your knee against his leg. Chris lifted his arm up, a silent invitation for you to get closer and so you did, resting your head against him as his arm came around you.
Things had quieted down and you listened to the steady beat of his heart. This would be the last time you would see Chris for a long time. Your arm reached around to hold him for as long as you could.
“I’m going to miss you,” you whispered against him.
Chris’ chest sunk as he exhaled a deep sigh. “I’m going to miss you too.” His arm squeezed a little tighter around you as he pressed his lips gently against your forehead. “Just look to the stars and I’ll be there.”
His words brought a comforting smile to your face, one you shared with him as you tilted your head to look up at him. “Do you want to stay?”
The corner of his mouth tugs a little as Chris thinks about it. There’s nothing he really misses at his hotel more than he does you. The only reason he came to New York was to see you first before going home.
“Yeah, I’d love to stay.”
You shifted yourself on top to straddle Chris, carding your fingers through his hair and taking in the gaze of his eyes that became pools of deep blue. You closed the distance between your lips, feeling his hands come around your back. Soft moans bubbled in your throat and soon you found yourself being carried to the bedroom.
Clothes were discarded, lips were on skin that burned hotter than the stars. You writhe against him, thighs quivering around his head, reaching out to grip him by the hair, holding Chris in place as he coaxed out your release. His lips taste like you and he licks them again, savoring your sweetness as he crawls up your body.
He tears open the condom, gathering your wetness on him as he slowly pushed in. A sinful moan falls from your lips as you feel the stretch of him inside you, inch by inch until he was fully seated. An experimental roll of his hips sets the pace for pleasure.
Your hands graze up the curve of his arms, reaching his back and digging in half moon shapes into his skin with your nails as he thrusts into you.
“Ahh fuck, you feel so fucking good,” he panted, moaning as his hips snapped forward. His name fell from your lips, a sweet sound that he couldn’t deny he loved hearing.
He changed his angle, hitting you with deeper, longer strokes. His mouth found your nipple, sucking at your peak as his hips gained speed; groaning and squeezing his eyes tightly as he fucked you, ready to explode.
“Shit!” Chris hissed, backing off quickly. You’re confused and concerned, sitting up and turning the light on beside your bed to see what was wrong. “The condom broke,” he said, still catching his breath.
Chris got up to discard it in the bathroom as you sat on the bed, crossing an arm over your chest, waiting nervously. When Chris walked back in the room he apologized for that, the stiffness of his length giving you relief that he hadn’t finished so you continued. Using your hands on him as he let out soft moans, distractedly opening another condom that you rolled down on him. You straddled him, leaning forward to capture his lips for a sweet kiss first before you lined yourself up and sank down on him.
Soon enough you were riding waves of bliss together, gripping Chris as you clenched around him, burning white hot behind your eyes. He’s right behind you, on the edge of pleasure, exploding inside you like a supernova.
Dropping your head onto his chest, it felt like your body was made of overcooked noodles that splayed loosely against him as you were desperate to catch your breath, coming down from the heights you soared to. Chris’ arms hold you close against him, his lips languidly peppering kisses to your sheen covered skin.
When his heartbeat returned to a steady pace Chris went to the bathroom to once again discard the condom and you followed behind him to use it. He went to the kitchen to get something to drink, bringing back an ice cold glass of water for you.
Back in bed you cuddled together, with goosebumps breaking out on your skin as Chris’ fingertips graze gently up and down your arm. Your eyes feel heavy but you don’t want to give in because when you wake up you know you’ll have to say goodbye and that’s not something you want to do.
“You’ll stay in touch, right?” you murmured against him, as worry took root within your stomach. His quick and emphatic reply should have been enough but you couldn’t help yourself from needing to make sure you would still hear from him during the mission. “And call me? With the space Skype?”
“I promise,” he said, as a smile spread across his face. Chris’ hand stopped moving, settling on your arm and holding you close.
“Promise me one more thing?” He hummed in response and you continued, “Stay safe up there.”
Chris tilted his head down and feeling him shift you looked up as he said, “I promise.”
In the moonlight his eyes sparkled like clear tropical waters. Slowly, a soft smile spread across your face as you stared at him. “I love you, Chris.” There was no romanticism behind it even after being together, just pure love for your friend.
Chris exhaled, planting a kiss to your temple. “I love you too, Y/N.”
Despite wanting to spend your remaining hours together awake you reluctantly fell asleep in his arms, tearfully parting in the morning. Two weeks later you watched as the space shuttle launched, with proud tears filling your eyes as Chris’ picture flashed on your screen along with the rest of the crew. Seeing that made you feel hopeful and overjoyed at the prospect of hearing from him soon.
“Chris… I’m pregnant.” It was a relief to finally tell him but you didn’t feel any better, uncertainty weighed heavy on your shoulders, crushing the space for your lungs to expand. Chris knows but now what?
He’s silent, his lips parted slightly and you don’t know if there’s a delay in the feed. Maybe you should have emailed it to him. You were going to at first and instead chose to word the importance of needing to speak to him in such a clandestine way that you were contacted by someone from NASA. Upon speaking to them they allowed your email to be dispatched and then you waited.
Chris’ eyebrows knit together, his shoulders slumping down as he stared at your face through the screen. He didn’t have any doubts, you were always truthful with each other, but he still wondered how.
“We put on a new one, I thought…”
“I thought we were good too,” you said, letting out a shaky breath.
You weren’t just pregnant, you were pregnant with his child and based off of some quick calculations in his head you were nearing the end of your first trimester. “H-how are you? I mean, how are you feeling?”
“Physically or…” Nervous laughter bubbles out of your throat.
This was hard on you, the physical symptoms weren’t fun but you could manage. What was more difficult was not telling anyone. It was early enough in your pregnancy that you could hide it from your family. They still lived in Hartford and hadn’t been down to visit yet but you couldn’t avoid them forever. Work was a different story. You had to let your boss know you would have to modify your duties as working around solvents and other chemicals would not be safe.
There was never a doubt in your mind about keeping the baby. When you were younger you imagined having children by now but it didn’t work out that way. It was something you were okay with, finding life fulfilling in different ways. Work was incredible, you were able to travel and though your relationships hadn’t worked out in the past you didn’t hold on to any resentments. Life was always complete and now things were going to be different.
You wanted to speak to Chris first before telling your family because you needed to know your expectations. Chris had a life of his own and you didn’t want your choice of having a baby to make him feel obligated in any way. You were an adult; a smart, independent woman and could do this on your own.
“I know this isn’t something we planned but…” Chris exhaled, the corners of his mouth lifting upward, “There’s no one I’d rather do this with than you... I promise.”
Chris’ eyes glisten with tears as his smile grows and you find yourself brushing away your own from the corner of your eyes. It was comforting to know Chris will be part of the baby’s life. Truthfully it would have been weird if he wasn’t in some capacity considering how close you were. For now you have a lot of time on how you’re going to figure things out for the future.
After the call Chris reflected in silence, staring out of the giant triangular windows of one of the Hermes’ common areas into the vastness of space. He was lost in thought, startled by his name being called by a crewmate. He turned to see Mark whose bright smile fell with concern upon seeing Chris’ face, asking if he was alright.
“I’m gonna be a dad,” Chris responded, his tone mournful in the realization he’ll be missing the birth. He accepted the congratulatory hug Mark gave him, sighing heavily as they separated. “I always thought I’d be there for that.”
You were due in March and Chris hated the fact that he won't be there for the first nine months of his child’s life, moments and milestones he’ll never get back. He doesn’t like leaving this all on you. He knows you can do it but you shouldn’t have to.
“I can’t pretend this isn’t hard but don’t think of it in terms of what you’re missing, look at what you’re gaining, what you have to look forward to when you come home.” Chris nodded, his smile trying to come back. “I didn’t even know you had a girlfriend,” Mark teased.
“I don’t. Y/N, she’s…” Chris’ face lights up as he thinks about you, which does not go unnoticed by Mark. “We’ve been friends since we were kids. She’s always meant so much to me and now…”
Mark gave Chris an honest smile as he spoke plainly, “And now you’re having a baby.”
With a proud smile that stretched from ear to ear he affirmed, “Yeah… we are.”
