In Palestine, more than 9,000 women have been brutally killed by the Israeli Occupation. 63 women killed per day.

In Sudan, 4 million Sudanese women & girls are at risk of sexual violence.

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, more than 1 million women have been survivors of sexual violence.

In Turtle Island aka the so called USA, 94% of fatal violence committed again Trans people are committed against Trans women.

This isn’t about the stats, the poverty porn or the constant shock doctrine the West desperately needs in order to be inclusive. This is a call for solidarity and collective action.

Access to feminine hygiene products, bodily autonomy and the access to necessary safe and caring spaces as women are all human rights.

A panel of UN experts has condemned violence against women and children perpetrated by the Israeli military.

“We are appalled that women are being targeted by Israel with such vicious, indiscriminate and disproportionate attacks, seemingly sparing no means to destroy their lives and deny them their fundamental human rights,” said an independent panel of experts appointed by the UN Human Rights Council.

The experts slammed reports of sexual assault and violence against women and girls, including against those detained by Israeli occupation forces.

They added that women and girls in Gaza have faced enforced disappearances.

They also condemned the “appalling��� treatment of pregnant women as a result of the Israeli bombardment of hospitals.

They noted that Israeli forces had also destroyed Gaza’s largest fertility clinic, reported to have been storing 3,000 embryos.

The report was drafted by special rapporteurs, who are assigned by he UN Human Rights Council, but whose statements are not official UN positions.

Legal protection against domestic violence has become widespread

"This chart shows the share of the global population living in countries that criminally sanction domestic violence or provide protection against it. The data comes from the World Bank’s Women, Business and the Law project.

Throughout the decades, the legislation on domestic violence has increased markedly. Until the 1990s, less than 1% of the global population in countries was legally protected from it, with only Canada, Sweden, and Ireland providing such safeguards. And as recently as 20 years ago, 80% of people lived in countries without legal penalties for domestic violence.

But by 2023, this had more than reversed, and 9 in 10 people lived in countries with legal measures to combat domestic violence. This shift highlights an increased recognition around the world that domestic violence is common, especially against women."

There’s two options in this election

1. We get enough voter turnout and Kamala wins: this means that our fundamental human rights are protected and least there’s a good chance at stopping the genocide of Palestinians.

2. We don’t get enough voter turnout and Trump wins: the genocide is GUARANTEED to continue AND America becomes a dystopian nightmare.

There is no third option. RFK Jr. doesn’t stand a chance. This is it. I agree that in lower stakes elections we should try to encourage third party voting. Even then, it will take multiple elections for it to work. This election it’s an exercise in futility to vote third party. It will save no one.

Boycotting the voting booths saves no one. Boycotting the voting booths won’t save a single Palestinian. At least we can guarantee we save ourselves long enough to help others if we get Kamala in office. At least we have a chance of stopping genocide if we get Kamala in office. It is not selfish to vote for Kamala, it is the best thing we can do four our country.

elaborating on a post from last night.

back when the good omens show first came out, i saw this fandom quickly dismiss concerns transfems had about the transmisogynistic tropes present in the show, the book, and gaiman's other work. i saw this fandom praise a depiction of a man disguising himself as a woman with the sole intention of gaining access to a child and influencing them into evil as a bold, positive representation of gender nonconformity. unfortunately i, being very young at the time and not as familiar with transphobia as it applied to trans women as i was with how it applied to myself (a tme enby), was part of this dismissal. i, like many other good omens fans, participated in brushing aside trans women's valid concerns in favor of supporting neil gaiman's bullshit. but i have since left the fandom, learned, and realized how fucked up it was.

so it's honestly sickening to see this same fandom now use defense of and support for trans women as a shield to excuse neil gaiman's bullshit once again. i believe that tortoise media had motives for wanting to break the story that had more to do with gaiman's milquetoast support for trans rights than they did concern for his victims, but i also believe the victims. i wish scarlett and k had come forward about their abuse with literally any other outlet, and it's entirely possible that one or both of them have bigoted beliefs about trans people themselves, but i'm not going to dismiss what they went through just because they aren't perfect victims or perfect people.

it's without question that gaiman had sexual relationships with both of these women, both being in their early 20s while he was in his 40s and 60s, one being a fan he met when she was a teenager and the other being his employee, respectively. that alone should make you want to distance yourself from him and his work. it also seriously makes me doubt his innocence that his own defense of himself is that k is just still so upset about the way their relationship ended that she's making sa allegations to get back at him almost two decades later and that scarlett is literally delusional and has created false memories of assault due to a medical condition that she does not fucking have.

we have seen time and time again that victims get absolutely no reward for coming forward about abuse, especially so when their abuser is a wealthy public figure. the idea that women are incentivized to create false allegations is a straight up lie and i had thought, after you all were fooled by depp and his pr team not too long ago, that we had all moved past believing it, but i guess fucking not.

Mm, if the tone of this book was different and WC was a series that was more willing to make characters flawed and self-destructive on purpose, I would LOVE the ring of this paragraph. Unfortunately, I feel like they're trying to frame this "former version of Ivypool" like it was a good thing.

It wasn't "courage, determination, and loyalty" that drove her to train there, those are excuses. Justifications. It was jealousy, anger, and fear. The Dark Forest exploited her weaknesses to groom her, suck her in. The fact she threw herself into danger, and no one protected her, was a BAD thing.

She was the worst possible version of herself back then, nasty and violent and terrified. She killed Antpelt on their orders, and was going to kill Flametail too. Without hesitation. It's not "falling from those days" to not be that person anymore.

So... the idea that she mauls this dog, revels in the satisfaction of sadism, and appreciates the dark-forest-red color of the blood on her claws, it would be a great passage to suggest that she was going to deal with her grief in a very self-destructive way. "Maybe I can be that cat again" could give me chills, man.

How people can still not think that gender being put into law and replacing sex doesn't affect your lives is astonishing. Our rights are based on sex based rights - so removing sex from law and replacing it with Self ID Gender Identities invalidates and removes sex based laws and protections. Who fought for these sex based protections? It was women! Why? Because we need them! We need safe spaces where we can undress and be vulnerable without being assaulted, we need to be able to choose a fellow female to do intimate care for us when we need it - like in a hospital, having a cervical smear, in a rape crisis center choosing a rape counsellor, choosing a sexual partner, joining a support group or dating group. Gender being put into law and replacing sex is meaning women are being criminalised for asking for sex based accommodations (you know, the ones we fought for for decades and rightly won and shouldn't have to politely be asking for AGAIN). Did you know a rape survivor got told she is not welcome in the Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre because when she asked who her rape counsellor would be they gave a male name. The rape counsellor is actually female, as in biologically female, but identifies as non-binary and had their name changed to a male name. Of course the rape victim was concerned and asked if the rape counsellor was a man or a woman - she was assured that only "women" are at the centre. So she questioned the SEX of the rape counsellor (I mean, they had a male name so of course it was going to be questioned) and she was told that she was being a bigot and was thereby not welcome at the centre. A worker in the ERCC questioned how to handle this situation and was put under a disgusting disciplinary procedure, bullied, called a transphobic bigot and hounded out of her job position - for asking important questions on behalf of the rape survivors coming to the centre!

This is just one of so many stories of how women's lives are affected by this and how society is criminalising people who don't conform to the new laws that we must be bigots if we care about sex. This affects everyone whether you realise it or not, there will come a time when the crossover of sex v gender smacks you in the face and you are left in the position that many people, especially women, are currently facing in their lives now.

Perhaps your elderly grandma has gone into a care home - will she be a bigot if she asks for a female carer to bathe her? What if she turns to you and asks you to help advocate for her in the care home? What position will you choose? Will you say biological sex matters to your grandma or will you tell your grandma to stop being a bigot and let the male nurse bathe her against her wishes and instincts?

Is your friend a lesbian and being coerced into accepting males as lesbians and being told her same-sex attraction is outdated and phobic?

Maybe you have an autistic child who is confused in school and is asking you questions about male and female and how to tell the difference. Will you tell them there are no differences? Or that the differences are bigoted? Will you tell these "little white lies" knowing that they might believe it to be literal fact and not understand there is a difference and that this is politics, not science.

Or maybe you've been telling this lie about sex and gender for so long your child believes they are literally the opposite sex if they declare themselves so, and that the world believes this too - only to grow up in a world where reality is actually quite different. They are met with common sense and a changing societal attitude which contrasts with what you've told them. They find out that sex and gender are not the same thing and that sex does matter to people and people have been telling "little white lies" to them this whole time and now they feel like an idiot. But it's too late, they've joined the lie and have been shouting it from the rooftops, declaring people bigots! They're in too deep.

A life setup based on a temporary societal dishonesty cloaked as truth, when in reality it is cowardice and ignorance. We're setting up generations of people to feel "unnacepted", "oppressed", "born wrong" and that the world is against them and hateful. We're setting ppl up to feel they must be evil if they acknowledge sex differences and understand that sex is binary and immutable.

Not to mention how it affects how you are allowed to talk about yourself, your life, others, the world around you. Changes the language you can use and how people will perceive you depending on the language you use. Restricts how you interact with others, in a workplace, school, social settings, medical settings. Affects how you type out a Facebook status or a comment on a thread. Who you follow or click "unfollow". How you learn to judge others and be judged yourself. How we set up societal norms, belief systems and indoctrination. How we treat those who dissent. Who we distance ourselves from, who we smile and nod at whilst feeling differently inside, who we fear and who we've lost. So much has been affected.

Where do you draw the line? Because we do all know where the line is - we just don't say it aloud because we don't want to offend or look like a "bigot". But that line is there, clear as day! You know it, I know it, we all know it. Stop being so afraid of how people may wrongly view you if you say the most ordinary thing in the world: sex matters.
