things i love about dragon age inquisition:

capturing the specific feeling of bonding with a group of people you have absolutely nothing in common with because u all had to go through something long and specific together

the maps can be so pretty and in places really calming and lovely to spend time in. it does make me want to explore and i have no explorer’s instinct

i love the war table and judgements i think those are really fun features

i like that approval for many major decisions applies to everyone regardless of who you bring to specific events/quests. it feels a lot less like you have to manage that really hard, as you sometimes do in the other games and also really noticeably to me in something like baldur’s gate 3. it’s irritating when i have to plan ahead and can’t take who i want to hear from

i like how attached you can get to little npcs who wander around

i loveeeee fighting dragons and how beautiful they all are

little puzzles <3

the collectibles are also mostly fine by me i am a magpie by nature. as long as i can find them, obviously, bc if i can’t they suck and this whole game sucks

the templar specialisation is fun and i enjoyed that part of combat a lot. wrath of heaven/spell purge combo is a power trip

things i don’t love about dragon age inquisition:

some genuine cruelty in writing the dalish in a way that feels shockingly callous to the real world cultures the writers took inspiration from

never giving the dalish or the rebel mages any kind of voice of their own and making the player do all that work if they care, which i also feel limits my roleplaying creativity

refusing to let you challenge any of the often overwhelmingly conservative views expressed by other characters without receiving only derision and disapproval. inquisition is a game that punishes you at every turn for having your own opinions, in a way that could be interesting if it was willing to truly let you develop complex or antagonistic relationships with those characters, but ends up mostly just feeling mocking when nobody ever even tries to see your side, while simply agreeing with these people always rewards you with content. origins was capable of letting you engage in discussion, and da2 let you form rivalries that mattered; inquisition, despite starring some of the most intentionally controversial characters, does neither

the game engineering conflicts against groups like the freemen of the dales or the avvar that mean nothing to the player and range from vaguely to seriously upsetting in their assumptions about who it’s normal to just start killing en masse. it’s both boring and distressing

odd, for lack of a better word “casting choices”, like having the fantasy impoverished racial minority all be white within the party while the wealthiest and most privileged are characters of colour, or for a more in-world example having the elves express the most distaste towards elves and the mages express the most caution about mages. i don’t know that i quite have the vocabulary to fully discuss why these weird me out, but it all feels... disingenuous? and chosen to forestall criticism based on real world comparisons in a game series that i wish had the nerve to openly confront what it’s talking about if it’s going to try to make any of its conflicts feel relevant

most of the companions, and indeed most of the quests and time spent playing the game, feel disconnected from the main plot. it’s hard to feel any pressure when the game tells you we need to deal with the main plot “right now!” and “get there before corypheus!” when the bulk of the game is doing other things while you’re supposed to be doing that. the majority of companions could be cut without changing anything. and when you finally want to deal with the main plot you just click to start it. it’s not engaging

the game fails to fully expand dialogue for the player character options it provided, particularly notable with its confusing chantry focus when you’ve said for the dozenth time you’re not andrastian

the 2-handed weapon whirlwind ability sound effect is an exercise in creating the worst and most grating sound effect for someone to constantly hear

Nightmares

Huh Yunjin x reader

Synopsis: your friend had told you to talk to someone whenever you had a nightmare, to keep it from coming true. But what happens when it’s the middle of the night and there’s only one specific person to listen to your thoughts?

Warnings: …nightmare description i guess? Nothing too deep though (at least I don’t think so). slight hint of smut maybe…?

Notes: this is not the first time I publish something, but it is the first time I’ve written something K-pop related, as I’m kind of new into this world and there are still many things I don’t quite know about (I’m working on it tho!). So please be kind and lmk if there are any mistakes or things you’d like me to alter or improve on. (also i didn’t check for any mistakes bc if i reread it I’ll just delete all of it so…)

Water.

It was the only thing you truly felt, lingering all over your skin as the molecules invaded your body without permission. They occupied every single inch of yourself, assaulting your nostrils until it got to your lungs and all you could feel was a sickening burn, slowing crippling through your organs, depriving you of any kind of relief. You tried breathing, but all you got was more water instead. Desperate, your hands found a cold, harsh wall that kept you from the outside world, and no matter how hard you tried pushing and beating onto it, it simply didn’t falter. It was only then you realized: you were trapped inside a frozen lake, without air or any shot of escaping. The glacial waters welcomed your soul as you closed your eyes, finally accepting the lost battle. With one last thought, you sighed, allowing the rest of the waters to finally rest in your lungs, so you could be in peace.

Suddenly, you woke up. The upper-half of your body rose from your bed as you took deep breaths, appreciating the simple act of inhaling and exhaling. It was a gift, you’ve come to the conclusion: sometimes we forget how lucky we are to be able to do the simplest things, such as breathing. Such as living.

Running your hands through your hair and your face, you noticed how drenched in sweat your body was —your pajamas were wet from it. However, you were too busy trying to calm yourself down to do anything about it. Your mind didn’t seem to know it was all a nightmare. Sure, it felt so real… but it wasn’t, so logically there was no reason for you to be so shaken, trembling hands, rapid heart-beating and all. A few minutes went by, and you were still in the same position, not getting any better, so you’ve decided to get some fresh water to cool your thoughts.

You sighed in defeat when you noticed you weren’t going back to sleep so soon, picking up your phone and pushing your covers aside. Careful as to not wake up your roommate, Kazuha, you’ve made your way through the dorm, jumping at the slightest noise.

Now, sitting on the kitchen isle with a glass of water in your hands, you suddenly remembered something your friend, Yeji, had told you long ago. With that in mind, you glanced at the fridge’s clock before sending her a message. 3:28 AM.

You sighed when the messages weren’t even delivered, even though it was to be expected; the girls were busy promoting their new song and probably had a busy schedule tomorrow. It was only natural for Yeji to be sleeping, as you should be too. You and the girls have performed on the first shows of the tour, and your schedule is also as busy as ever. However, here you were, sitting at the kitchen counter, hands still trembling and mind replaying the previous nightmare in your head.

“Hey. Is everything ok?” A voice coming from behind startled you, making you jump in your seat and almost fall to your side. Luckily, a pair of hands steadied you, lingering seconds longer to make sure you weren’t going to slip.

You knew who it was without even looking back; her touches were too unique, made you too hot to go unnoticed. Indeed, Yunjin presented herself to you, making her way into the kitchen as she stared in your eyes with worry etched in her face. You cleared your throat, adjusting your posture so you wouldn’t look as fragile as you felt in front of her, at least. You hated looking fragile in front of anyone, let alone… her.

Likewise, you and Yunjin were close, as you were with the rest of the girls. But with her, it was just the way she portrayed herself that got you completely enamored. You’ve lost count of the times the girls teased you for losing focus at rehearsals because of her dancing. The way she was constantly trying to be the kindest version of herself, her passion for music, her care for others... it was hard not to be completely captured by her, truly. Which is why you were always awkward around her, specially when it was just the two of you, alone.

Like now.

“Ahn, no, unnie.” You said automatically, making her raise her eyebrows at you. Clearing your throat, you corrected yourself. “Yes, I meant yes. Everything’s ok. Sorry.”

Obviously, she wasn’t convinced. You drank from your water, trying to calm yourself down, but stopped when her soft hands kept you from drinking all of it in one go.

“Calm down, Y/n. You’ll end up drowning this way.” Her words were meant to be playful, but they reminded you of your nightmare, and suddenly the kitchen felt cramped, and you were there again, with the water making pressure to invade your lungs and the ice barrier and-

“Hey,” Yunjin’s voice was soft as she got closer, reaching out for a hug. “All is good; just breathe with me.” You focused on her face, ever so delicate, following her commands. After a few minutes, you were feeling much calmer. “That’s a good girl.” She praised, as you face the ground in embarrassment.

Taking your hands off her, you muttered. “Thanks, unnie.”

The words got to you, much to your dismay, and you could feel your face growing hot by it. Yunjin noticed it too, chuckling slightly.

“Cute.”

You faced your hands, embarrassed by your turmoil, and the two of you stood in an awkward silence until the sighed, taking the seat beside you.

“So… does this have something to do with Yeji?” She asked, cutting the apple you didn’t see her getting for herself, a cautious tone leaving her lips.

You frowned at the question. Why would yunjin think about Yeji? Seeing your confusion, she tapped on your phone over the balcony, still unlocked at the conversation with your friend. “Sorry for lurking. It’s just… you seemed really frightened, and I couldn’t help but look.”

Your bandmate was embarrassed to be caught, too, and you couldn’t help but giggle. Still, you reached for your phone to lock it; you couldn’t have Yunjin reading the messages you had sent Yeji about her. “It’s okay, unnie. I know you didn’t mean any harm.”

She hummed in response, still eyeing you attentively.

“Do you want to talk about it?” She seems to ponder her words better, as she adds, “You don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to. It’s just that you’ve seemed really shaken. You still do, actually.”

Your hands flicker the empty glass nervously, unsure of what to do. You didn’t want Yunjin to think of you as something fragile or weak. Being only a few months older than Kazuha, you always tried your best to not be labeled as a maknae to any of the older girls, always trying to take care of them too, as you knew they needed it. But she was looking at you with such caring eyes, and the whole thing had just felt so real. You sighed in defeat, not quite looking at her face.

“It’s stupid, really. Just a stupid nightmare.” You toyed with your phone, doing anything to not stare at the older girl beside you. “About Yeji-unnie... she’d told me once we have to tell someone about your nightmares, to prevent them from coming true. That’s why I messaged her, but she’s sleeping, for sure.”

Now that the words left your mouth, you felt even sillier. And stupid.

“Well, want to tell me what the nightmare was about?” She asked just as quietly, a faint smile adorning her face. “We can’t have it come true, right?”

She wouldn’t judge you. Never judge you.

Your eyes finally met hers, and you got to look into the beauty that was her almond orbs. You took a deep breath, getting ready to live those moments again. Yunjin listened attentively as you talked, leaning on her hand to have her full attention on you. When you finished, you felt surprisingly lighter, no longer trembling or wanting to cry.

“It’s not stupid.” She said, after you were done talking. Her nose was adorably scrunched, and it made you want to kiss it. Yunjin touched your arms, offering you some comfort. “It sounded really traumatic, actually. I’m glad it was just a nightmare.”

You nodded, secretly relieved yourself, too.

A small breeze went through the room, making you shiver a little, even though you tried your best to suppress it. Yunjin noticed your reaction, and her gaze dropped to your pajamas. You cursed yourself for choosing such a small pair for the night. The fabric was still a little damp, and it partially clung to your chest. You weren’t even wearing any panties, because you’d never bothered to sleep with them on anyway, but you were suddenly hyper aware of it. As she scanned you whole and her eyes darkened, you couldn’t help but wonder if she’d ever thought about it too. Of you.

You’ve certainly had thought about her. An embarrassingly amount of times.

“You’ll catch a cold this way, Y/n. It’s cold outside.” Her voice made you feel as as if your body was filled with tiny needles, along with the familiar butterflies in your stomach.

“It bothers me to sleep with too many clothes, unnie. You know it.” You said, not intending to suggest anything, but biting your lips when the words came out of your mouth. It was another habit the girls always teased you for: you’ve often said things with double sense without thinking. Yunjin merely arched her eyebrows, smirking like she knew something.

“I know.”

You got up, forcing yourself to smile at her despite the awkwardness.

“I, ahn, I should go to bed now, we need to sleep. You should too, unnie, we have a busy day tomorrow and I’d hate to see you tired.” Your words brought her attention back, and she returned your smile with her beautiful one, getting up herself.

“Sure, sure, you’re right. Sleep well, Y/n. I hope you have good dreams, this time.” She looked like she wanted to step in and say something else, but decided otherwise.

“I will, unnie.” You’d surely remember how she had comforted you, and there simply wasn’t a possibility to have any nightmares after that.

You two walked the short hallway side by side, and since your room was first, you stepped by the door to bid her goodnight again. She was too close, and it made you weary of how you could see her so clearly, and even kiss you if you wanted to. If only you had the courage. “Thanks again, by the way. For listening and... well, for helping me calm down.”

“It’s nothing, Y/n. Remember I’m just down the hall if you need me, okay?” She was the one who broke the invisible barrier between you, shuffling your hair. She was close, too close as she whispered to you. “Sweet dreams.”

And as she left, you hoped she couldn’t hear how loud your heart was beating.

You got back to bed, but no matter how much you tossed and turned, you couldn’t stop replaying the events of earlier in your had. It was so natural, how her presence made everything lighter. Your head was so cluttered with your thoughts you barely registered the weight on your mattress, only realizing you had an extra visitor when she whispered.

You and Gale were sat out in the open fields just before Baldurs Gate. The Iron Golems proving to be more of a hindrance than initially thought. The team decided to take a breather and devise a plan to get around this issue. However, working on magical skills with Gale was probably more of a distraction, especially with how cute his focusing face was. Sitting quietly watching him enchant a simple thorns spell was fascinating.

Once he had gotten the hang of the basics of a ring of thorns, you congratulated him and wrapped your arms around his midsection. Gale was taken aback, but a quick laugh and warm arms wrapped around you soon replaced every thought in either of your minds. You two had been like this since he saved you from an arrow to the back, so close yet so far. When Elminster told you he was to die, you lay in his arms, crying your eyes out, begging him not to go through with it.

Enjoying the warmth of the hug, you two soon moved to cuddle in the grass, pointing out odd-shaped clouds. You knew you should be planning how to get into Baldur Gate, but this was so nice. Gale was a new normal for you, and you hated to think it could go horribly wrong in any passing days; you wrapped your arms tighter around the man and kissed him on the cheek before burying your face into his neck. Gale had already made up his mind and would fight till his last breath to have a forever with you.

After fighting Gaea, Greek and Roman demigods practically became one big/chaotic family

From that new found partnership, an exchange program between camps Half Blood and Jupiter was created

Demigods from both camps could spend short periods of time at each other’s place, learning new skills and such

You were absolutely thrilled to participate. You loved your Greek ancestry and all but you already knew everything about it. It was time to learn everything you could about Rome and it’s rich history

Arriving on camp grounds, a guy named Frank Zhang showed you around. Apparently he was a praetor, which you thought was kind of intimidating, but the guy was so sweet and easy going that before you knew it y’all were chatting like good ol’ friends 🤝

He helped you settle into your room before sending you off to meet the other praetor, a girl about your age

She was supposed to inform you of your duties and schedule you’d be following on camp, so you made your way to the Senate House where Frank told you she’d be

As you entered the big, elegant construction, you searched for her, not having any success after investigating the main room

Well, you could sit around and wait for her… or you could snoop around a little 😋

The place was so beautiful and so full of ancient artifacts that you couldn’t help but open every single door you found 🤩

As you entered yet another corridor, you suddenly heard voice

It sounded like someone… No- a few people were arguing

As you got closer, you heard whispering, accompanied by a voice that sounded louder than the others

You walked towards the door where the noise was coming from, catching the end of a very concerning conversation

“…traitor” the whispers said

Your eyes widened

“Stop. I didn’t- it wasn’t-“ The louder voice tried

“They’re going to find out about what you did. You’ll be executed” The whispers continued

“No I- Be quiet. Go away” The voice pleaded

“Justice will be made, daughter of Bellona. You will be punished” The whispers taunted

“GO AWAY”

The sudden scream made you lose your balance, your body accidentally pushing the door that separated you and the voices open

You almost fell into the room. As you regained your composure, you saw what looked like… a few ghosts? That vanished into thin air as you stared at them, leaving you alone with a very disturbed girl

“Oh gods, I am so sorry. I was just-“ You started

Before you could finish, your back was harshly pressed against the wall, a cold knife against your throat

“Who are you?” The girl growled

It took a lot of explaining to get your throat out of imminent danger, but after finding out you were one of the Greek demigod exchangees, she quickly let you go, apologizing profusely

You were scared and extremely confused, but you also felt bad for the girl. You had intruded in something that you definitely should not have heard

By the way her pupils were dilated and hands were constantly opening and closing into a fist, it looked like she was trying to ground herself. Failing miserably at it

She asked you how much you heard of what was said in the room

You were scared, but told her the truth regardless

She seemed to be about to have a panic attack so you quickly told her that you weren’t going to tell anyone about what you had witnessed

You told her it didn’t concern you, and you’d respect that. No one would know

She was completely baffled. You were just going to keep her biggest secret- just like that? You didn’t even know her and you were offering to help? Just like that?

She was so used to having her back stabbed, to good things crumbling out of her life (I love Reyna sm omfg she deserves the world ☹️) that this just seemed like a trap

But what choice did she have other than to trust you?

She hesitantly nodded, putting her knife on its sheath

“So, who are you? I mean- what’s your name? And would you by any chance know where I could find a praetor?” You inquired, trying to change the subject

“Yeah, I know where you could find one” the girl said, her features seeming to relax slowly, turning into a small smile

“Oh thank gods, I’ve been exploring- I mean, looking around for quite some time now and-“

You were interrupted by a small laugh coming from the girl, who offered a hand for you to shake

“I’m Reyna, one of camp Jupiter’s praetors”

Well shit

The days that followed were better than you expected. Being at camp Jupiter was a bit tiresome (the place was way stricter than camp half blood) but you were learning so much about ancient Rome while meeting so many nice people that you couldn’t complain

And of course, there was Reyna. You didn’t know if she considered you her friend or if she was only being nice to you so you wouldn’t spill her secret, but you were grateful for her help anyway

If it weren’t for her, you’d be absolutely crushed in combat lessons. You seemed to find the history and strategy behind it way more interesting than actually being in it, which was rather amusing to her

You both started to spend a lot of time together, your shared interest in Rome’s past bringing you closer as the days progressed

You almost lost your shit when she showed you New Rome, your eyes shining as you asked her a million questions per second about the place

To be honest, she found it cute👀👀

You were getting kind of getting attached to her. She even read a few of the fantasy books you brought to camp so you could discuss them together

One time, you took her to play Mario Kart in your room

It ended with you almost DYING from laughing at her while she was defeated, not by you, but by the console itself and the technology that was so foreign to her

She almost killed you when you called her an old woman

After some time, everyone started noticing Reyna seemed… happier. She was less strict and way less stressed than usual🧐

Everyone knew something was definitely up when she actually laughed in the middle of a Senate meeting

Frank was walking around the room while Reyna sat down in one of the two praetor seats. She usually let him handle these types of meetings since he was new at being a praetor

He could use the experience

He went through some important notices and such, then got to talking about the last party thrown on camp grounds (this is canon!! ☝️ apparently camp Jupiter knows how to throw a good party🕺)

“…also, I know we all love a good party. But let’s go easy with the dancing while holding weapons yeah? We don’t want a murder on the dancefloor”

From where you were sitting, you immediately looked at Reyna, surprising yourself as you met her gaze

But instead of reading, you just watched her as she sat down beside you, giving you a smile before opening her book

She could feel your gaze on her. The tip of her ears started to get slightly red

“What?” She finally asked, smiling with an inquisitive eyebrow raised at you

Her smile fell as she saw your troubled expression

“Nothing. It’s just-“ you hesitated

“Hey” She said softly, closing her book while scooting closer to you

“What’s wrong?” She asked, looking into your eyes, putting a hand on your arm

Shifting your gaze to the ground, you asked her to tell you the truth

Did she only hang around you so you wouldn’t tell anyone about her secret?

Her eyes hardened, her hand retracting from your arm

You stared at her, waiting from an answer

But it never came

You knew it, you were right. She just didn’t wanted to hurt your feelings by admitting it

You stood up, setting your cup aside

“It’s alright, you don’t have to be around me anymore. I wont tell anyone either way-

“No! Wait” She exclaimed, grabbing your wrist before you could walk away

You turned to her, surprised

Her eyes were watering, her grip on your wrist tightening

She interrupted you by telling you everything. How she killed her father so she and her sister could escape, how that could get her exiled, or worse, if anyone found out

When she finished, you had a hand covering your mouth, eyes wide

“I-I didn’t tell you because I thought you wouldn’t want to be around me anymore-“

You cut her off by hugging her, catching her completely off guard

You told her you’d never distance yourself from her off of something like that

What happened wasn’t her fault

She hugged you back tightly, the tears she was holding in now streaming down her face

You pulled apart from her slowly, wiping her tears softly with your thumb

She stared at you with such intensity that it made you let out a small gasp

She suddenly put a hand on top of the one you rested on her face

Looking into your eyes, she said “I hang around you because… I care for you”

You smiled, telling her you obviously cared for her too

She laughed a little, shaking her head. “Not like that” she said

She was still sitting on your bed, while you were standing in front of her

She pulled you closer. Now, you were standing between her legs

She let go of your hand, placing both of hers tightly around your waist

Ooo excuse to ramble about my thoughts

A little bit of context but I was someone still VERY much in the special interest zone when junior year was announced, specifically post-canon/Night Yorb era, there were a few fics around about it and specifically the idea of possessed Riz (which a lot of the fandom generally headcanoned) rlly intrigued me? SO I was vaguely planning to write something and then the completely unexpected happened, junior year was actually announced.

I LOVE “theoretically canon compliant” fics that fill in the blanks, so what we got is literally the best I could ever ask for, giving just enough to fill in with barely ANY specification of what actually took place.

So I really wanna write a fic following all the canon information we get on the summer! And specifically filling in all the blanks on how they get from A to B in terms of character development. Why is Riz so focused on keeping the group together and how/when does he learn magic (or at least get his magic items)? When does Kristen go from blanket burrito depressed into a gym bro who is feeling at distance with her goddess after such a beautiful ending in sophomore year? What does Gorgug’s following of his artificer interest for something other then his girlfriend look like? Or even silly stuff like Adaine getting all her little guys.

Also I wanna make those NPCs people. I hate to say it but there is some interesting dynamics with them and the bad kids, the only one I can think of off the top of my head is that I can’t really think of any other time Riz is particularly close to an NPC that he isn’t previously close to before the story (besides Ragh maybe)? Also whatever narcissus bullshit was going on between Fabian and Ecaf.

I just think it’d be interesting to try to bring them over cleanly from the finish in sophomore year to the general turmoil going on in junior year, aswell as trying to make the final battle a Satisfying Moment of a theoretical “season” while still making junior year feel good?

I don’t have a lot blacked out of Genuine Events yet, but I will probably be posting about this more soon, since I am gonna rewatch Junior Year combing through for every Night Yorb mention, and maybe asking for some opinions on things I may include.

hi!! I’ve been binge reading ur fics and I’m so glad that it led me to your blog!! Hinamori and Hitsugaya are also my blorbos and I love your take on their characters and dynamic which is that they’re different flavors of what it’s like to be young and screwed over by the system you’ve been nothing but dutiful towards. In Hinamori’s case, she earnestly did believe in the ideals of the Gotei 13 (like seriously, one of her first character defining moments is rushing towards someone who needs help regardless of orders to do otherwise like with renji being injured and hisagi being attacked) but was constantly screwed over by the someone who she thought was the personification of those ideals and was just expected to immediately bounce back from that . Meanwhile Hitsugaya, who was already more reluctant from the get go, not only had to watch all that happen to her in real time, but keeps getting thrust into every shit show from the fuck factory because he unfortunately possesses the skills to do so. In some of your fics, Momo frets over how much being a Shinigami takes so much from him without giving him much back for his efforts and I wonder if he hasn’t thought the same about her?

And yet…at the heart of it…both of them just want to do good!! They just want to do right by people even if it’s in the world that constantly tries to chew them up and spit them out. Hinamori would still fret over and try to rush towards someone she thinks needs help and Hitsugaya will still go into a shit job sighing but hell still do it by the virtue of being one of the few ppl that can. I’m sorry if this ended up turning into a ramble but you just get it!!! God, they need another cathartic non traumatic field trip post TYBW. We rlly deserved a scene after all the battles where they make a long walk towards each other, stumble into each other’s arms or even just sit next to each other and go “holy shit you’re still here. We’re still here” and not get disturbed for 20 mins before they help each other up and do their jobs again.

Something I hear a lot is “the institution will not love you back”—the warning being not to fall into the trap of loving it, or giving too much to it, because it will only take. I think that’s true, but I also think that there are many professions that make the actual practice of this impossible, because they require you not to love, per se, but to really care, and really give—if only because if you don’t, then the thing becomes a monster. It is alive, it is not a thing that withers and desiccates if you do not care for it. It becomes a worse thing and harm is done, if you don’t care, no matter how much you’ll never get back when doing so.

I imagine the Gotei being a lot like that, and while I don’t imagine Hinamori or Hitsugaya loving the Gotei (Hinamori might have been, during various periods of her life, closer to that word than Hitsugaya will ever be; and I think at points may have even thought so, or entertained the slippage being loving the Gotei and loving other things; but even then, even then—) they definitely care a lot. It’s a troubled care, and something I find really interesting about both of them is their ongoing negotiation of how to believe in some version of the Gotei but not believe in it but adhere but not adhere but fuck all but not fuck all.

I think he does, but in a different way than Hinamori does for him. In my version of their story, Hinamori has a certainty about how the math works out, and it’s not really in Hitsugaya’s favor, and she mourns that. Regardless of how she understands Hitsugaya to have internalized it, she is going to mourn that. It’s not that she doesn’t care about the first part, it’s just part of some other math.

Thinking about Hinamori, Hitsugaya has also done the math, but it’s not really the straight math he’s focused on. He’s more interested in how Hinamori is carrying it, if that makes sense. He wants to know her thought process, and what he sees there is going to impact how he feels about it. Like, the math’s bad, it will always be bad, but is it hurting her? Does her attitude toward it feel like delusion masking pain, or is it the clarity of acceptance coupled with conviction? She carries it differently than he does, he knows, and as long as he can be certain that it’s not that first thing, he can accept her acceptance. He admires her for it, that particular kind of resolute clarity. His version of it is not the same (and to him feels like a worse version). It’s not naivete; it’s not delusion, or desperation. It is Hinamori.

gonna put out my honest thoughts about my current progress in fire emblem engage bc i need to talk about how silly this game is

i’m only at chapter 7-8 btw and i’ve already spoiled myself half of the plot

i couldn’t choose between f!alear or m!alear bc their designs were.. something. i chose f!alear for my first run since i did the “same ingame gender as irl gender” thing (and it was an entire tradition for me at some point).

didn’t even reach chapter 6 and f!alear’s design was too much for me. i liked seeing her in a ponytail tho but i was not gonne be patient enough to change her class JUST for the ponytail. like girlie ik ur the divine dragon n shit but atleast try to not get your long ass hair pulled midway in battle.

and wtf is your armor??? you have individual boob cups for what?? your entire outfit does not look an ounce comfortable and yet you still slept in that shit. the short ass skirt too?? the stocking things??? there are like 10 design atrocities and i could even name more (and that’s just on a scale of practicality)

made a new save file and chose m!alear bc i was getting tired of f!alear’s entire armor outfit. ngl i preferred playing as m!alear bc he felt a lot more comfortable playing as an mc. but his entire victorian child fit wasn’t the best but it was more practical than the boob cups.

still mad there’s no unisex mcs.

anyways the prologue was kinda funny. our ass just wakes up and suddenly the world is in shambles bc some salty ass kingdom made sombron become the second coming of jesus christ.

queen lumera only had like.. 2 seconds of screentime until the ultimate mentor/parent death trope scene bc dead parental figures are a must for fire emblem mcs (unless ur sigurd and become the dead parent)

the firene siblings appeared. albert is precious and céline is lowkey on thin ice because of that damned outfit. like maybe wear something more practical in battle other than easy hair pulling and frilly dress?? (i know i can change her class but i’m a lazy bum). im still currently trying to know my way around albert’s skill set but he’s a good unit atm.

the twins are splendid little creatures. clanne got too many mvps and is still on the mvp streak ever since i paired him with celica (i abused warp ragnarok too many times). framme is just there for moral support and actual healing support.

vander’s lvl 1 grandpa ass was actually doing decent damage comapred to lvl 6 alear. you don’t know how many times vander had to come in clutch when alear was 3 hp away from evaporating.

i paired albert w/ sigurd and clanne w/ celica. that shit was game changing. i revoked céline’s emblem privileges for no reason. i just gave celica to clanne since he technically did more damage. he is like low tier but he’s my biggest carry atm. how the turns have tabled.

i changed alcryst’s class to tireur d’élite the second i got his lvl 10 ass. i’m pretty sure he might be my strongest unit atm (lvl wise).

idk who i should pair micaiah with so i just let her stay with yunaka. i never rlly used micaiah’s abilities for healing but i only used her to widen yunaka’s range w/ magic if she needed to chip in some damage to an enemy.

i always get tired at like the 7th turn in every battle and I just abuse celica’s warp ragnarok to beat up that one enemy to win the battle. somehow clanne still deals big damage w/o the engage boosts.

listen i have no clue what they fed the stewards but i am now afraid of them with my every being.

jean and anna r just there. jean doesn’t do shit bc i alr have framme. ik that jean might be decently better than framme but i don’t want his lvl 1 ass dying every single time. anna is a pretty good backup for chain attacks actually. but everytime i see her i get reminded of her commander version from heroes (bc it was my first fe game)

i spent the good majority of my bond fragments on arena emblem bonds w/ my current lineup bc i gotta get those big boi skills n shit. i also watched my units kill each other bc ig that’s a thing now. (i witnessed alcryst beat the shit out of céline)

sommie is a silly little fart.

still waiting on the day i get lucina’s emblem. i want to witness a gang fight.

outside of all the cutscenes, the game has the animation budget of 2 dollars.

i feel like i should make a seperate post on fe13 design atrocities and impracticalities (im bad at character design)

i am up to season two episode 10. and i havent watched any today which i feel guilty about. i just think the show truly has an amazing way of revealing like the big plot stuff. the first time we see the emperor without the mask and his conversation with hunter to when luzs mom finds out the truth. it is all done so well i applaud them because so many shows i’ve seen have fallen for the syndrome of either stretching out the mystery too far or not making it drawn out enough.

luzs relationship with her mother is so relatable as someone who is hispanic and knows the pain of being in a similar position as luz with being in two completely different places and stuff. her promise is really interesting i wanna see how that plays out.

i love king and his story and his development i am such a proud momma for that guy. he’s one of the best characters. his episode with his backstory is so well done. especially since so many other people experience the same feelings as he did. wanting to know your family and where your from like its very powerful and kings character is so important. i also love hooty he is awesome love him so much the characters need to treat hooty better fr🙄

EDA IS SO RELATABLE MY GODDD i love eda shes probably my favorite character in the show rn. her backstory with raine is heartbreaking and bittersweet and i’ll have u know no animated show song since adventure time has had an affect on me until i heard raines rhapsody. i genuinely was surprised i CRIED. also her fighting the curse for years and hating every moment of it and then learning to accept it and letting it become a part of you. that is beautiful and is very comforting

luz and amity both trying to figure out and be the best girlfriends that they can. MY HEARTTTT thats just rlly sweet man theyre adorable.

ahh the golden guard… hunter… little guy. i already grew really fond of his humor in season one(wait season two? i cant remember when he first talked) it reminded me of ranboo. and his character as a whole as well i find really fascinating. challenging the environment and everything youve ever been taught growing up is tough and they show his internal battle well. i am rlly fond of hunter personally i can sympathize a lot with him

jotting my thoughts on pokemon rejuv so far since im just finished battling hazuki.

likes:

hell yeah more utilization of double battle scenarios. those are my jam and butter i have so much fun calculating who's gonna target who and what the fuck should i go for. I'd like to thank my cinccino and weavile. fakeout helping hand combos so well with my tanky or fast sweeper pokemon.

the field options and crest system are cool as hell. its gen rlly creative and i had to get used to it and use my brain, it throws a wrench in usual pokemon play and style. it also lifts some underutilized pokemon! its manageable though. and the boss battles were gen rlly cool! rift pokemon my beloved. rlly hard in the beginning but i learned to cheese it eventually (curse + leech seed + whirlpool + toxic with corrosion)

the difficulty i think is spiked p well, its good enough that you aren't out of options, almost never, but you got to use your head around certain teams and foes. EV training is a MUST, luckily there are EV training centers. i hate IV hunting so i used the password for full 31 IVs all the way . you also need some basis of pokemon competitive i'd say.

speaking of passwords those are gen rlly nice to use, saves some time. i got a remote pc with me and that saves like 50% of the handling when preparing for a boss battle.

the aevian forms are so cool. my fav has been probably chandelure and leavanny so far but i just caught a feebas so who knows. i also have a gastrodon who's so silly i love that design

god the characters are so nice. i love the individuality of each character presented to the player, and you kind of got to twist one part to get to the other and know why the first part was twisted. that being said, if you asked who my favs are its adam ren and talon. silly dudes. but i also know i would EAT this up in my younger years a lot more. but even now i still adore them. found family is dear and nice, especially well done for a large cast jesus fuck

also worldbuilding. i don't want to say more but woah. good job.

i adore [REDACTED] very dearly and i have to apologize every time i see them. i wish i got to know them more. hopefully more appearances later??????

iffy stuff:

i want to like venam and melia's relationship a lot more than i do now. i think its just uncertainty with their previous known age gap before the time skip? eh.

I'm. very confused about Risa's whole schtick. i don't want to say more than now because spoilers and all. but i think too much information got laid on with that arc that my brain exploded there. wish it was just a bit clarified or so . (also is she 18 or 21??????? the internet and the game confuse me. this matters because i have to know whether to sock dylan or not)

some of the sidequest lines are misleading. they say "go to [here]" and when i go there nothing happens. its only when i search up the issue online is when i find out that i have to do Something Else first. just wish it was more clarified or such? if that makes sense? its like someone told you to go to the field or smth but didn't say you had to talk to the lady at the building first.

honestly i think the story confusions i have now are going to wait until The End of this game because rn it isn't fully complete. i will wait as long as needed until everything releases before i can make a full assessment. like. this has so much work put into this game. for FREE. NOTHING OF COST. like holy shit i can wait forever and ever. i have 130+ hours into this game. i can't believe this is nothing of cost. so a positive note here in this category.

honestly ive seen a ton of critique towards this game, so i was sort of jumping around trying to assess how hard it was going to be and whether or not i would be actually interested. i'm delighted to say i am. key note: don't listen to reddit when they say "too edgy". i know my edgyness. i i also quite enjoy some of it. i think its a matter of taste.

if you try out this game do have. a lil handful of pokemon experience in terms of speed, sweeping, and tanks. i think some basic knowledge there would go a long way. then again i played normal mode, there is an easier mode if i remember. either way, get ready to strategize.

also rec me more games im almost caught up w everything pretty please i need something to occupy my brain.
