There is no greater horror to an avid reader than the sudden realization that the pages of the book you're REALLY FUCKING ENJOYING are dwindling down FAR TOO RAPIDLY for all the plot threads to be solved in time....
..... except by the twin realizations that not only is your book the first in a series.....
...... THE NEXT BOOK ISN'T EVEN CLOSE TO BEING OUT YET.

i feel like my movie taste is like having a wish with a monkey paw; it's either incredibly good but will never get seen by anyone and if it does get seen, it becomes famous for all the wrong reasons.
hunger games trilogy - got famous for the love triangle, completely ignored the takedown of an authoritarian government and the entire point of glamorization of vulnerable people by the media. with the prequel movie, everyone focused on the sexiness of snow - yeah, tom blyth is hot but he's not snow - instead of the even more brutal murder of kids and these vulnerable poor people being shown off like zoo animals in front of the rich and the AMOUNT OF GODDAMN CLASSISM AND CLASS POLITICS. belle - wasn't seen by many and by the few, many think that suzu, the highschooler mc, in love with the middle schooler she saved from abuse, completely ignoring the deeper interpretation of how people can connect through all surfaces and how humans are always meant to socialize and join together + suzu slowly moving past her grief and learning how to love herself again and through saving Kei, does she finally understand what her mother did before her death and saves herself. ultraman: rising - idk if this one counts but it's getting more famous for kenji being hot (which yeah he is but still) and emi being adorbs (which YES SHE IS BUT STILL) but people keep forgetting about how it shows how familial love can twist and corrupt you but also support and uplifting and how family only works when you put the work into balancing everything and how sometimes you mess up and you get back up AND HONESTLY NOBODY UNDERSTANDS MY GODDAMN-
misconceptions of clear things are MY ROMAN EMPIRE. catch me tweaking over this with a 7-11 big gulp slurpee like a temu version of JD. (this isn't a serious post, obviously you can process movies any way you want but the belle one is the only one where i'm actually gonna go crazy if you try and argue about it being a "love story")

Preamble
I originally intended for this to be a response to a different post however my thoughts just wound up going to how much I dislike ASG3's story for being one of the worst conclusions I've ever waited an unreasonably long time for. So yeah let's just get into it.
Early Game: The introduction to the problems
ASG3 is... An ending to a trilogy. I wish I could leave it at that but I have things to say about this game's story. Firstly the themes surrounding GV the theme of GV's arc is that of living guilt and learning to move on past that and I think this theme is set up rather well because at the literal end of the intro stage GV just got out of being Godzilla (kinda, he's a dog now) and we with he have found out that GV's time as Godzilla+ Sumeragi stealing his electricity to power all of Japan has led to dragon aids floating in the air and turning everyone into dragons. So GVs eternal guilt complex is at least set up rather well it's just not explored as deeply as I'd hoped, the early game (GV and Kirin sealing up the victims of Dragon aids) is fine we get a whole montage of GV contemplating that this whole mess is his fault and Kirin telling him no that's whatever it's's good setup the problem almost instantly starts at the mid-game (Atems pull up) and almost instantly the guilt complex loses focus which you could consider fair since GV's guilt complex seems to have come from the dragons fucking shit up but as the late game reveals that is not at all the case.
Late game: The problems
Starting straight with the true nature of GV'S guilt complex it is the manifestation of his every failure from falling to save Joule in the first game all the way until now. Now that's a lot to unpack but we are at the near end of this game and good lord we are far too late to unpack it at this point and it shows. For starters we only delve into this in full *during the duo boss fights and nowhere else* but even then even then at the absolute most it vaguely brings shit up just vaguely and GV can't even say anything about it the poor bastard, Kirin has to come in and save him from the ghosts of Christmas past while at the same time saying that the ghosts may have a point so it doesn't do anything in the end. Even worse is that the absolute *most* that occurs is the game framing GV as a thoughtless murder hobo and not elaborating at all. Once all is said and done GV's inner monologue right after his him still doubting every action he has ever taken so that whole segment is just frankly rather pointless AND THEN THE ENDING MAKES IT EXTRA POINTLESS
The ending: Peak Garbage
Gunvolt 3's ending is to put it frankly PEAK GARBAGE, half those problems are Morbus and how he just pulls up out of nowhere and is too goddamn powerful for there to be a final boss that could possibly top him in terms of stakes and the other half is very sadly how they handle Gunvolt. To start he's been possessed by Morb and Kirin has to fight him leading to one of two possible endings the bad and true endings. The bad ending it's just GV killing himself and Kirin crying about it that's about it and the true ending is Morbvolt getting all sealed up, Morb telling GV that he's gonna nuke the planet to death and that the only thing he can do is turn himself into a baby about it and so he does that. The bad ending is fine I guess I don't have any real thoughts about it other than it at least being a culmination of GV's guilt complex that he's been dealing with the whole game (have fun with those implications). The true ending on the other hand is the worst thing ever and it's not because GV being a baby now makes no sense or is stupid and contrived(it is rather contrived tbf), it makes perfect sense despite Morb pulling up from out of nowhere and that make it worse because BABYVOLT IS A CULMINATION OF ***NOTHING*** IF THEY JUST HAD GUNVOLT KILL HIMSELF AND LEFT IT AT THAT THE GAMES STORY WOULD HAVE AT LEAST BEEN MEDIOCRE BUT NO THEY HAD TO WRITE ONE OF THE WORST CONCLUSIONS OF ALL TIME THAT CAME FROM FUCKING NOWHERE, JUST BEFORE GUNVOLT BECOMES BABY HE CONTEMPLATES "man if only I could redo my whole life" WHICH BRO HAS NEVER ONCE THOUGHT ABOUT IN HIS WHOLE LIFE AND IT INDIRECTLY AND GOES AGAINST THE THEME OF LEARNING TO LIVE WITH AND MOVING FORWARD WITH LIFE PAST YOUR GUILT HOMIE DIDN'T LEARN SHIT ABOUT LIVING WITH REGRETS OR MOVING ON FROM THEM HE JUST TURNED INTO A BABY ABOUT IT AND LEFT WITH ZERO ELABORATION NONE, NADDA, NULL. HE'S A BABY NOW LIVE WITH IT, ON YEAH BTW ENJOY YOUR NEW PROTAG BYE.

Hi again @makedonsgriva . If you don't mind me asking, can I ask, what are your top 7 favorite media (can be books/ manga/ anime/movies/tv series/etc) and your top 7 favorite ships (can be canon or non canon) from any media? Why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this questions before and if I ask too much.....
Hi @dnana-2809-blog !!! Thank you for the ask. I don’t mind answering your questions at all and you are always welcome to send more asks in my inbox ^_^
Top 7 favorite media (in no particular order)
1. Attack On Titan
I can never ever move on from this story. The plot twists??? The characters??? Zero fan service and filler episodes and being just straight to the point??? And the PLOT!?! HELLO??? THE PLOT IS SO GODDAMN GOOD????
Attack on Titan is truly a fantastic story about war, humanity, sacrifice and above all, love. On the surface level, it seems like every other shonen anime out there but its depth is truly incomparable. No media I’ve watched comes close to it.
Tumblr media
2. Captive Prince Trilogy
I think I read this series for the first time back in 2018-19 and it absolutely rocked my world??? I reread it almost every year now because holy shit??? I’ve never read a better enemies to forced allies to friends to lovers to divorced but forced allies to lovers to im gonna die for this man???
Also the plot??? CS Pacat knew how hard they cooked and ate with Captive Prince. The world building, the characters, the plot twists, politics, the drama??? I M M A C U L A T E.
I highly recommend it to everyone who has not read it but please check the trigger warnings for this trilogy before you start.
Tumblr media
(Pls let me know the artist yall so I can edit this and credit the artist!)
3. Carry On Trilogy
I don’t think I’ve ever been as emotionally attached to a series as I’ve been to Carry On. Like Simon, Baz and Penny were exactly who I needed as an awkward teen dealing with a lot of bs. I saw this trilogy being completed in front of my eyes. I can’t tell you how healing and rewarding it was for me to read Any Way The Wind Blows. 2020 was the most horrific, heartbreaking nightmare for me and I think a part of me healed when I read AWTWB in 2021. When I saw that Simon and Baz were going to be okay, I understood that I would okay too. It wasn’t going to be easy, but it would happen.
Sorry I think I got too personal but I just have so much love for this series and the way it showed healing and love and friendship. It’s so special to me ❤️
Tumblr media
4. Tian Guan Ci Fu
A very recent addition but I just know it’s going to be one of those series I’m going to spend the rest of my life loving. I’m such a sucker for stories that are, at the end of the day, about love. About knowing how vicious and shitty this world is but being kind is what makes all the difference. About learning from past mistakes and about making a future, no matter how late that future comes.
It also gave me Xie Lian. You guys don’t understand just how much I love Xie Lian. I can go to war for that man, okay. I can follow him through hell. I will protect that man with my life.
Tumblr media
5. The Good Place
It’s been a while since I watched this show but I do remember just how deeply it impacted me and permanently altered my brain chemistry.
The characters were all so unique and coming from such different backgrounds and with really interesting backstories. The growth we witnessed for them over the four seasons was phenomenal. Especially for Eleanor. And Michael. God I fucking love Michael.
Everything about this show was top notch. I think I will need to make a whole separate post talking about the philosophy of this show. I think this is one of those shows that everyone needs to watch at least once in their life.
Tumblr media
6. Fleabag
Fleabag will always be superior. The main character is one of my all time favorites and I think it tells a really great, bittersweet story of coming to terms with your own flaws. It’s a story about life but not the entirety of it because we just get to witness a very small portion of Fleabag’s life. Her mistakes are colossal but her life is too big to be defined by it. Yes she is a raging cunt but yes I love her to death and her story too. The humour, the fourth wall breaking, the emotions… all of it make fleabag the amazing show it is.
Tumblr media
7. Yuri On Ice
My first anime ever. The feelings it gave me is incomparable to any other. News of its movie cancellation was beyond devastating.
(As I type it out, the theme song is playing in my head..)
I can’t begin to emphasise just how important this anime is for queer representation in mainstream anime because while this anime is about ice skating, yes, above all it’s about love. How it makes us better, how it brings out the best version of ourselves, how it sustains and pushes us forward. And that love just so happens to be between two men. It’s just so heartwarming.
It was so so important for me as a young queer person still struggling with their identity and wanting to fit in. Yuri On Ice was so important for me and still is.
(Fuck I miss Yuri and Viktor)
Tumblr media
As this post has already got too long, I will answer your ship question in a separate post! I will make sure to tag you when I do :)

On a happier note, I am enjoying having to research baby milestones for the Midwifery Charge AU (fic and nostalgia rambles below the cut)
(which at this point, thanks to the help of a good friend, I've realised is best done as a collection of lil one shots from moments in it. I just. don't have the mental anything nor the organisation to do a multichap full fic rn. Y'all know I lose steam too easily on those and just don't do them as well as I do simple oneshots. I wrote a full original trilogy at age 10 and again at like age 21; I used all my 'full multichap project' juice too early in life AND both trilogies kind of sucked ass. RIP to them may their memory never find me again let alone be a blessing but I digress)
Bc it means I get to remember all the cute shit the cousins did when I was helping raise them and like. certain bits can be used for baby in the fic even!
Like how the oldest one learned to roll over from one direction, but then couldn't replicate it going the other way, and she would just. lose her shit wailing until someone rolled her over that way. Then she was good until oh fuck oh no, she rolled over right to left again and to her lil brain it was too different from rolling left to right, she's stuck forever oh g-oh hey someone rolled her back to her tummy. neat.
We never let her sit for more than a second or two stuck (mostly to try and encourage her to. ya know. Realise that she could in fact roll herself both ways and it would be fine. Took her time but she got there lol) and I'm just
Dying at the image of the crew so carefully taking turns watching Baby (who I'm gonna reveal bc I don't think I have yet? if i have ignore me lol, is named Basilica after Izzy's deadname (he gave her the name, there's an entire Thing abt it and little moments abt his journey as a trans man tucked into this au), going by Baz for short (thank u to the aforementioned good friend for this as a nickname for the full name, bc I was struggling to figure out how to shorten it and Baz is !!! perfect!!!) )
And she's been with them longer than expected. 4-6 months is the average that I've found for when babies learn to roll over, so maybe she's abt 5 months old at this point.
Doing tummy time with Fang and she does it! Right to left rolling over, absolutely perfect, stunning, no notes, they're gonna make her a medal but-
Oh no. She's gotta roll left to right now, and instead of rolling the other way she just panics and weeps and everyone on this ship is a big fuckin softy (i get it lol, I was with the cousins) so they keep rolling her over the other way to calm her.
Until they have a crew meeting and Jim mentions Nana telling them that sometimes, babies have to just. cry for a minute or two and learn how to do the thing. You can help, but first you have to let them try and encourage them to do it on their own. (they gloss over the fact that Jim also makes clear with this anecdote that Nana absolutely would have taught a baby how to throw a knife. And honestly, is she wrong for this? who can say, not me, but I like knives and think a baby with a knife is hilarious, so I'm biased. I'm never gonna have kids, don't worry lmao.)
Cut to everyone having tummy time while the ship is docked/anchored somewhere safeish (let's be real, for the Kraken crew, nowhere is really fully safe with all the raiding they've been doing. But Ed and Izzy and Fang all know the quieter spots other ppl have forgotten that they can rotate going to for moments like this)
In a circle, around Basilica on the blanket Frenchie designed and knit for her, while she whines and cries bc goddamn it, why is rolling the other direction so hard? So scary?
And they're all lowkey trying not to cry (Ed and Izzy the most out of all of them, for varying personal reasons that all ultimately culminate in a want for Basilica to have a better childhood than they did, including the little moments/early achievements like this) while babytalking like mad, trying to encourage her to roll the other way
It's just not happening, but juuuust as Izzy is abt to break and gently roll her over, a cannon booms in the distance
And if that adorable little shit doesn't roll left to right, then again, trying to lift her head up to see where the big noise came from. She's not even crying anymore, she's just curious!
Unfortunately, said cannon is a sign they need to head out, so they have to pick her up and get her settled in Ed's room(really Ed and Izzy's room, by this point. Are they back together in a healthy way? Not really, but they're Aware of their mutual issues and are just barely talking some of them through. or starting that process, at least) for her own safety and now she's crying bc she's so mad! She wanted to keep rolling over! She was literally on a roll, how fucking dare they pluck her off the floor so easily!!
Despite the potential incoming danger of another ship, everyone is giggling as they get the ship moving. I'm envisioning it like. U know when a baby is So Mad So Incensed, they're making those angry babbles that are loud enough to hear a room away? That sound is all they can hear aside from the waves and the far off cannon fire, and it's a mood lightener. Yeah, they might be about to fight for their lives, but listen to her! She's swearing! (I do absolutely have an idea for her first word being 'fuck' thanks to Izzy lmaooo)
And they're all as excited to escape not just for their lives, but so they can lay the blanket out again and have her show off her new skill. A little soft moment in between having to fight to save themselves or raiding for more loot (and baby gear/supplies, my god not a one of them ever thought they'd be threatening ppl for additional cloth diapers but. here they are lol.)
Anyway. Eventually I'm gonna get all the snippets posted up in an ao3 collection, including the few I've already posted here. When I get that started I'll drop a link, in the meantime I'm gonna see if I can get my brain to actually finish another oneshot for this au today lmao

Not going to lie, I am super disappointed with the new Spiderverse movie.
Spoilers btw but I’m just gonna ramble
It’s pretty clear that Sony wanted a trilogy and forced the writing team to stretch the film out into a duology, because this film is fucking bloated with nonsense and time wasting stuff, and that cliffhanger sequel baiting ending left me going, “That’s it?”
When it slows down to compensate for the script being torn into two movies, it slows down and man you can feel it. It doesn’t slow down for anything important either; I get that the emotional moments need some levity but goddamn they go on for way longer than anything in the first film, and for a lot less important stuff, too. The first film was fast paced and kinetic, and after rewatching today I can say that it was never as dull as this when it slowed down.
Miles feels really generic after “growing up” and accepting his role as Spiderman, and I wasn’t expecting his usual dorkiness to wear off on me so quickly in this film.  He was an awkward teen being forced to fill the large shoes of the hero before him, and the first film didn’t have to play it up to sell his character to us. How can he be as good as Spider-Man when Peter already exists?
With good writing, which the first film had, and this film, whether due to how stretched thin it is or something else, doesn’t have it. Honestly, I really can’t stand how everyone is in love with Miles. Gwen shows up to Miles universe and goes, “It’s always so nice talking to you” and it really bugged me because I’m just like
“bitch you haven’t talked to him in months, and you barely talked to him in the last film what are you on about”
And then the Peter from the first film shows up with his new daughter and is like “I had her because of you because I thought she’d grow up to be like you because I think you’re cool” and I’m like
“that’s fucking weird, maybe you should let your daughter grow up to be her own person instead of the awkward kid you barely mentored and don’t know anything about at all other than he’s a spiderman”
I don’t know anything about Miles in the comics or in the recent game because I’m a spider enjoyer not a spider fan, but there isn’t enough about Miles for me to like in this new film. He’s upset that he can’t be Spider-Man and himself, which is something Toby Maguire figured out all the way back in the early 00′s, and this film doesn’t do anything new with that plotline.
The first spiderverse film was good because it tread new ground with a well known backstory, about an outcast kid getting powers and learning to use them for good. The addition of a version of a burned out character we know and love, as well as the new spider people helping Miles as a person and fledgling hero, was entertaining. What does he have now that he’s grown up? Not much.
Now he’s just going through Toby’s phase, in a stretched out movie, where everyone loves him and thinks he’s so great despite not having as much of an interesting personality this time around, and also not doing anything important, either. He doesn’t stop the main villain, he just complains a lot that he isn’t getting his way. Don’t get me wrong, he’s still got some good jokes, and I like the Spot and Miguel, but this film was way too long with way too little happening in it. This film also focuses way too much on the side characters instead of on Miles, like it wants Gwen and Spot to be the main character, and as a result it really doesn’t feel like there’s a main character at all.
There are some other stupid things I don’t like, too. Why is there a pregnant black woman riding a motorcycle and fighting? Babies are soft and should not be exposed to battle with superpowered characters, and pregnant women have trouble moving around. Like, seriously. They can have trouble standing up in the later stages of pregnancy, because they can’t rotate and push themselves up because of the baby bump sometimes. So how am I expected to believe that she’s being a super bad ass, even with powers? I don’t know who she is, and I really don’t care. The first film gave us a quick rundown on all the spider people when they showed up, and I don’t know a single thing about this chick. At the very least, she didn’t have to be pregnant, it added nothing to the film while it was in motion and was genuinely distracting.
The whole spider society thing just made me think of the early Rick and Morty seasons with the whole “council of ricks citadel and evil morty” bullshit. I did not go into this wanting to think about that cartoon, and unfortunately it’s all I could think about in the quarter of the movie that it takes up. Try and tell me it doesn’t remind you of it a little bit.
Now, as a big ol shipper who loves well written romances, I can firmly say I’m not buying this “will they won’t they” shit with Miles and Gwen. She had barely warmed up to being Miles’ friend by the end of the last film, and I already outlined why above that I think it’s stupid, but to add to it, all Gwen thinks about is Miles in this film and I’m like “damn bitch have some agency”. They keep trying to insert all these little tidbits to make Miles jealous and whatnot and I’m just sitting here like
“no”
Here are some choice quotes from the first film to remind you of what Gwen thinks of Miles: “You know I’m older than you, right? 15 months older, but that’s pretty significant if you ask me”, “You don’t get to like my haircut”, “I don’t think you know what puberty is”, “Friends”...
Funny lines of dialogue to be sure, but definitely not romantic. Especially not when she lost her version of Peter Parker, then reunites with another one. I’m not saying she had to fall for burnt out Peter, but the fact that the first film did nothing with it, and then this film for the most part just makes her a one note track about Miles, really rubbed me the wrong way. Especially when she points out that nothing good happens to the Gwen’s who fall in love with Spider-Man.
I guess it’s all about expectations, ironically. Miles didn’t know how to step into Spiderman’s suit, and this sequel doesn’t know how to follow up it’s excellent predecessor. It barely has an antagonist, it’s bloated with filler, the dialogue is stupid in many places, and it’s nice visuals aren’t enough to make up for it.
The only thing I personally think will save the third film would be to subvert those expectations. Have Miles turn down/reject Gwen because she lied to him about his dad’s impending death, have him turn away from Peter for being in on it, and have him step into his own shoes.

alright I'm gonna ramble about the RE games/community now
fuckin Resident Evil, man. RE may not have been my introduction to M-rated games, but it also sorta was. Everyone already knows that DMC1 was originally Resident Evil 4. Both REmake and RE4 were also motivation to play M-rated games, though. So let us start at the beginning.
I finally got to play REmake when I got it in a humble bundle with RE4. I played REmake first, and boy, was I enchanted. I often get motivation to play games by seeing footage, and then thinking that it would be fun to control that. That might be a poor way of explaining it, but its all I got. REmake, coldest take imaginable, is a borderline perfect game. The mansion is magical to explore, the enemies are spooky, the visuals are beautiful, and the layout and pacing of the game are so good that I can still run through most of the game without even thinking about it. Of course, the areas following the mansion aren't quite as neat, but that's fine, and in my opinion, not even that much of a downside, as I usually want to get through each subsequent area faster and faster. The only thing that really irks me? People want another damn remake. Fuckers are so caught up with games accommodating their dumb asses that they just can't stand to learn another control type to play a game. OOOOOH woe is you!! You just can't get a handle on tank controls! "clunky! clunky! clunky!" If my 12 year old self, who, as I may have mentioned before, was born after 9/11, can manage to get a hang of this game and speedrun it with barely any practice, you can take ten minutes to get a hang of tank controls. shut the fuck up. There are so many games that genuinely need a remake, and RE1 is probably the last on the list.
RE2 is a fun time. Leon is hilarious, Claire is cool, and the game feels pretty straightforward. RE2 isn't all that stressful at any given moment, and almost feels linear with how clear its progression is. Pair that with iconic visuals and music, and you understand why its still considered a classic to this day.
RE3 is... something. I don't hate RE3. Far from it. It makes Jill cool, Nemesis is scary but not annoying, the live selection system is fun, and the story is entertaining, standing out because of its incredible conclusion that wraps up the first trilogy in a nice little bow. But the dodge mechanic is weird -- ironically, its easier to dodge Nemesis than a normal zombie, because Nemesis was clearly designed with telegraphed windups in mind, whereas the regular zombie grab definitely wasn't. The progression is a little less clear, with the majority of the game having you run around larger areas of Raccoon to grab stuff, with things being measurably less obvious than RE2, for better or worse. I think my opinion is also a little funky because I've only played it once (though recently), and I had a fuckton of ammo by the end. I think I'd enjoy it more if I actually spend more time blasting zombies. Special shoutout to the snap sound effect that accompanies a critical headshot with the pistol. Orgasmic.
RE4 has been discussed to death. I don't think I can add anything to that discussion, frankly. It's unbelievably fun and replayable, Leon is my favorite himbo, I've played it 13 times... it's an inarguable classic that shaped the industry going forward. In its niche, it hasn't really been surpassed. Sure, Dead Space is great, but only its sequel comes close to RE4's level of fun and replayability in my mind. (DS1 and 2 are still incredible, though). RE5 certainly didn't.
RE5. Goddamn. I played this with a friend, and I don't see how you could've done this solo. The setting isn't quite as fun, is way more "kinda racist" and there's a stupid filter over the whole game. I personally dislike the UI and font choice, and the stupid square system drives me crazy (yes I know it's to make co-op easier). The story feels like its connected by a fraying string, nobody really has an arc (Chris only has something vaguely resembling one), and the final boss is dumb adventure game bullshit. It baffles me that people think that RE5 is the improved version of RE4. It's just straight-up incorrect.
RE6, I've barely played. I couldn't really stand it after I had to do a ten minute walking section and then had to do stupid wave defense. I don't even think I could get my RE5 friend to play with me. pass.
RE7 and 8 I haven't gotten around to. I own them, but something about that first person perspective makes them less appealing to me. I've played plenty of first person games, it's just something about them in particular. idk
Umbrella chronicles is terrible (crappy shooting, terrible voice acting, cheap-looking), darkside chronicles isn't bad if you don't mind crazy camerawork; it fixes prrety much everything terrible about UC. and enjoy rail shooters. maybe I should ramble about those next. I'm gonna go give Leon a kiss
oh fuck I forgot to talk about the community
like I said, they're all spoiled and remake hungry, and so many refuse to learn a new control style. and they're all horny as fuck and are stupid and I hate them I hate them I hate them
Resident Evil has never had a genuinely good story and rides on its characters but I hate all the horny fucks who don't shut up
I didn't mean for this to be negative. Leon sends his himbo love

State Of Grace— Red
“So you were never a saint
And I've loved in shades of wrong
We learn to live with the pain
Mosaic broken hearts
But this love is brave and wild
And I never (never)
Saw you coming
And I'll never (never)
Be the same”
“This is a state of grace
This is the worthwhile fight
Love is a ruthless game
Unless you play it good and right
These are the hands of fate
You're my Achilles heel
This is the golden age of something good and right and real”

Dancing With Our Hands Tied— Reputation
“I, I loved you in secret
First sight, yeah, we love without reason”
“I could've spent forever with your hands in my pockets
Picture of your face in an invisible locket
You said there was nothing in the world that could stop it
I had a bad feeling”
“I, I loved you in spite of
Deep fears that the world would divide us
So, baby, can we dance
Oh, through an avalanche?
And say, say that we got it
I'm a mess, but I'm the mess that you wanted”
“Yeah, we were dancing
Dancing with our hands tied, hands tied
Yeah, we were dancing
(Ooh, we had our hands tied)
And I had a bad feeling
But we were dancing”
7. Idgie x Ruth (Fried Green Tomatoes)

Ivy— Evermore
“Oh, goddamn
My pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand
Taking mine, but it's been promised to another
Oh, I can't
Stop you putting roots in my dreamland
My house of stone, your ivy grows
And now I'm covered in you”
“What would he do if he found us out?
Crescent moon, coast is clear
Spring breaks loose, but so does fear
He's gonna burn this house to the ground”
“How's one to know?
I'd live and die for moments that we stole
On begged and borrowed time”
“So yeah, it's a fire
It's a goddamn blaze in the dark
And you started it
You started it
So yeah, it's a war
It's the goddamn fight of my life
And you started it
You started it”

This is a 3.5 rounded-up. But to be honest I don't even know how to classify this book. I'm fuming. Spoilers ahead, beware. THIS WAS THE MOST ANTI-CLIMATIC ENDING I HAVE EVER READ IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. I have no words to describe it. I'm so entirely utterly mad about this. I'm not "afraid" of big books. In fact, my favourite trilogy has like 900 pages each (Ken Follett, The Century Trilogy series). But goddamn, many of these pages are filled with nothing. There were parts of this book where I was bored to death and it made me delay the ending because I had no will to pick up the book. On the other hand, I cannot leave a book unfinished, so I had to see it through - BECAUSE I NEED TO HAVE CLOSURE. And if there is one thing I didn't have with this book was bloody closure. Although it's somewhat vast, I liked the time-lapse and the back and forth in Addie's life. As soon as Henry was introduced, the plot was too predictable - I knew this wasn't going to be a fairytale. But that's not what I'm complaining about. What made me roll my eyes the most was the lack of goddamn chemistry those two had. We read about her romance with Remy, Toby, even Sam (and she was only mentioned in one chapter) and it was way more interesting and passionate than the relationship she had with Henry. Unlike many, I truly believe that what those two had wasn't love, but more like a mutual agreement of need - Addie "loved" Henry because he remembers her, and Henry "loves" Addie because she's the only one who sees him for what he truly is. If we think about it, they only love each other because they represent the right to the wrong of the deals that both have made with Luc. OH, AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON LUC. Well, of course I'm gonna rant about Luc. The chaotic energy that emanates from that body is relentless. To me, that was the real motor of the story. Addie has lived three hundred years for the sole purpose of living fully and unrestrained and throughout the 600 pages, I only saw a girl who saw the years passing by and kept on going. Yeah, she saw some things and travel and bla bla bla, more than she could have ever done with her old life, but I didn't feel like she actually lived. In fact, she only lived, when Luc was around. Of course that was a toxic relationship, but what would you expect of the devil? Flowers? But wait - he actually gives her that. I think the most interesting thing about Addie-Luc was that she was progressively realizing that she was no longer human, and he was realizing that she was making him more human every time they saw each other. Throughout the book we see their multiple interactions and we learn that both of them are eager to meet again. Both of them are toxic to the point that they don't meet for more than 40 years because of pride, mistrust, vengeance, competition, you name it, but the second they lay eyes on each other, it feels like no one else is in the room. Luc is definitely not a saint, but neither is Addie. She traded her life, her family and friends, her name, her ability to leave a mark, to live forever unconditionally. Addie is a selfish person since the beginning (I'm not saying she is a bad person for being concerned about herself, I'm just saying that I don't know many people who would abandon everything the way she did without a second glance). They one hundred percent have chemistry, and besides the need, I think they find comfort in each other. Addie studies Luc carefully, and to be honest, that's more than she ever did with Henry. And this is where I get mad again. She believes that Luc doesn't know her that well, that he cannot care because he doesn't have a heart but, allow me to refresh everyone's memory, he always comes for her when she is in danger with no way to escape. He always comes for her in her lonely and dark hours. Yes, he baits her, and tries to make her surrender but, does he really? I mean, he knows Addie. She is the girl who wanted to see every little detail there is to see, no matter the consequences. Every time they met, he knew that she wouldn't give up. When Addie was
tired, he came to her and spite her to the point where she decided she would "win" and not surrender. HE KEPT HER GOING. He doesn't want to win. He wants her company and, most of all, Luc wants to see Addie happy and fulfilled. A detail that I think most people sleep on is the fact that frequently, is Luc who makes Addie change locations. She was amidst chaos in France and she's been around Paris for more than a century. He picks her up and places her in Florence, Italy. He makes her see new things. Makes her meet new people, get in contact with a different culture and language. Afterall, that's what Addie wanted since the beginning right?
"He made a mistake and didn't realize she would live forever" What the f? He didn't start the job yesterday. Luc intentionally did that. He gave Addie what she asked for, and more. He tended for her. When she looks at Luc she feels ashamed. Because she knows he did exactly what she asked for, and she's even more ashamed that she has come to love him. That's why that ending is just disappointing. "I'm gonna stay with him to piss him off so he'll let me go". Excuse me miss, but I think you missed the part where YOU JUST SPENT 300 YEARS WITH HIM DOING PRECISELY THAT AND NONE OF YOU GAVE UP. What the hell makes her think that he's going to be bored of her? Their entire relationship is based on recklessness and anger and bad and bold choices. They understand each other in a way no one will ever do. "They fit each other perfectly". I think the ending just completely kills the person Addie has grown to be. "Oh I have outsmarted him because I've learned and bla bla bla". Nope. You ended up exactly where he wanted you to be in the first place, and where you also wanted to be. You're just saying that because you refuse to admit that you enjoy where you've ended up. You are remembered and you are with someone who understands you and completes you. The ending simply makes Addie a child in a woman's body who doesn't own up to her own sh*t because she wants to remain in the good girl picture. I'm super mad about this. Great plot, had the potential, completely ruined in the last 5 pages. I think I'd rather have Henry dying and Addie surrendering her soul with grief, or Addie exchanging her soul for Henry's, or even a bloody happy ending with Henry and Addie both getting their way. I don't know. Anything would be better than "I hate him but for the sake of a game I'll be with him for eternity".

Ok so I’m into the dreamer trilogy and haven’t read the Raven cycle...what is Declan’s characterisation/journey there?
THIS MIGHT BE THE BEST ASK I’VE EVER RECEIVED. IMAGINE I’M STANDING WITH MY ARMS SPREAD USING DIFFERENT VOICES AND HAND GESTURES TO REENACT THIS STORY FOR A RESENTFUL CAPTIVE AUDIENCE
also declan’s TRC storyline is like. equal parts horribly fucking sad and unbelievably fucking hilarious so. i will try to strike a Balance
FIRST OFF.  there is exactly one (1) declan POV chapter in the entire series. it happens toward the end of the last book. up until then, everything we know about him comes from the observations and narration of others.
he is also a very minor character.  his importance grows throughout the series, but almost all of his actions happen offscreen.  it’s not until the last book that we know exactly how much he’s been dealing with the whole time.
when he’s introduced in the first book, he appears as a plot device.  here is a two-dimensional horrible controlling hardass who doesn’t give a shit about anything but his future political career.  look at his fake, smug fucking grin.  how did someone like ronan end up with a brother like him??  doesn’t matter.  it’s a convenient excuse for ronan to live with his best friend in a drafty warehouse, which means more room for YA hijinks!
declan’s introduction scene is Embroiled in Capital-D Douchebaggery. according to the narration (from gansey and adam), he loves to fuck women and then never call them back, cozy up to powerful people, and bitch about how ronan’s ruining his life by being sad about their dead parents.  SOME people can just get over their dead parents, ronan!
this intro scene is also Extremely Funny i 100% recommend reading it even if u don’t read the actual series.  ronan makes a nasty comment, declan goes “why are you the way that you are” and tries to salvage his date, gansey utters the phrase “man whore”
then later that night things go like. actually bad.
declan shows up at the same pizza place where ronan is with his friends.  this scene is gansey pov.  gansey runs out to the parking lot to find the two of them Very Literally Trying To Kill Each Other.  you don’t see that violence in cdth - there’s only the TINIEST shadow of it when declan confronts ronan over matthew - so i Cannot Express Enough that someone is going to end up hospitalized at BEST. ronan’s already slammed declan’s head on the car, declan’s already grabbed ronan and beaten the shit out of his face, like.
you do not get good old-fashioned Declan Lynch At His Actual Worst in cdth. u might be thinking, THAT guy???? doing THIS????
oh yeah. things are real bad between declan and ronan.
after gansey breaks up the fight (and gets punched in the face for his trouble, albeit accidentally), declan tells ronan that their dad would be fucking ashamed to see him now & that he’s washing his hands of it & basically if ronan wants to go off and fucking die, he can.
this is like. just a couple months after the magical suicide attempt referenced in cdth
in the aftermath of that scene it becomes clear that ronan absolutely unequivocally 100% will kill himself if he has to live with declan. hence. why he’s living with gansey instead.  gansey spends that whole night petrified that the declan altercation will lead to another attempt, and for Good Reason
so like, that’s how we first meet declan. he’s an uncaring wannabe corporate asshole who does not give a fuck and who only exists to exacerbate ronan’s mental health issues.
but then the opening of book 2 gets real interesting.
book 2 is where we start learning more about the lynch family.  we learn that ronan’s father was a dreamer who sold his creations on the black market, we learn that that’s why he was murdered. we learn that ronan’s a dreamer too. we learn that there are very powerful people looking for the greywaren, an artifact that takes objects from dreams. those powerful people just don’t realize it’s a person, yet.
so here’s the assassin who killed niall lynch.
he goes to declan’s dorm.
with everything we know about declan, the kid should be completely unprepared.  he can box, but the assassin knows that, so there’s no real advantage.  he’s alone, and he doesn’t have an escape route.
declan pulls out a gun.
this is an unexpected turn of events.
unfortunately he ends up getting beaten half to death with the butt of said gun, because he loses the ensuing physical struggle for the weapon.  the assassin is like, i need the greywaren.  declan is like, i know it exists but i don’t know what it is.  i’ll find it for you.  i’ll get it to you.  then you’ll leave me the fuck alone
now with everything we know of declan at this point - his attitude toward ronan, his general demeanor, and this new knowledge that he knew about the black market - there’s one obvious question.
will declan sell ronan out if he finds out about the dreaming.
and like, okay. their relationship is antagonistic in cdth but it is NOT what it is in trc. believe me when i tell you that at that point, when you’re reading, you can pretty reasonably go, “oh, god.  oh god.  oh god please no one ever tell declan what the greywaren is.  oh god.”
declan has some other interactions with ronan and the gang throughout the book, mostly where he’s just a hardass who tells ronan to stop causing trouble.  adam’s the only one who notices that declan is scared.  like bone-deep shaking to the core petrified.  about Something.
probably getting beaten to within an inch of his life by the man who murdered his father.  that’s the reasonable reader conclusion.
so imagine how everything changes when you find out that declan already knows.  that declan’s known about ronan’s dreaming for longer than ronan has.  that declan knew exactly what and who the greywaren was, and he lied to a man who was ready to torture him for information, and he got away with it.
suddenly a lot of things recontextualize.
“keep your head down and stop making trouble”? people are gonna NOTICE your magic bullshit, ronan, we do not have time for this!
“stop hanging with that loser druggie friend of yours”? you mean the loser druggie friend who sells on the magic black market and doesn’t care about protecting himself or anyone else?
“i got super weird for no reason about ronan sleeping close to adam”? i don’t have fucking TIME to be homophobic i’m busy with your POTENTIAL TO MANIFEST NIGHT TERRORS IN FRONT OF WITNESSES IN BROAD DAYLIGHT
“i’ll find out what the greywaren is and bring it to you”? i’ll die. i’m making a bargain to die. i’m never giving you the greywaren and i know you’re going to kill me about it and that’s fine as long as my brothers are safe
ronan doesn’t know that he dreamed matthew.  declan knows.  he’s known the whole time.  declan tells ronan in book 3.  and then things recontextualize even further, because ronan’s death is also matthew’s, and matthew IS close to declan in trc.
but declan never tells the goddamn truth unless it’s his last option.  he doesn’t tell ronan that he knows about the dreaming and he doesn’t tell ronan what specifically wants to hurt him and the lack of communication fucking destroys both of them.
in the last book, ronan realizes declan loves him.
more than that, he realizes declan’s loved him the whole time.
this is when declan finally tells the truth.  things are getting bad, plot-wise, and declan is scared, so he comes clean.  he tells ronan that niall specifically tasked declan with protecting ronan from the market.  he begs ronan to run from the danger.  “let’s pour gasoline on everything dad left and start over.”
this is also when ronan realizes that declan’s childhood was very different from ronan’s own.  and that niall and aurora lynch were not the same people to declan that they were to ronan.  and that their father’s decisions are what’s driven the wedge between him and declan all this time
(he’s still struggling with the cognitive dissonance of this in cdth. i don’t think he knows how to adjust his perception of declan to fit this new information.)
aaaaand the final scene with declan makes me cry every time i read it so instead of summarizing, here’s the important part:
Ronan delivered a sharp tap to the object, and a small cloud of fiery orbs sprayed up with a sparkling hiss.
“Jesus, Ronan!” Declan jerked his chin away.
“Please. Did you think I’d blow your face off?”
He demonstrated it again, that quick tap, that burst of brilliant orbs. He tipped it into Declan’s hand, and before Declan could say anything, jabbed it to activate it once more.
Orbs gasped up into the air. For a moment, he saw how his brother was caught inside them, watching them soar furiously around his face, each gold sun firing gold and white, and when he saw the spacious longing in Declan’s face, he realized how much Declan had missed by growing up neither dreamer nor dreamt. This had never been his home. The Lynches had never tried to make it Declan’s home.
“Declan?” Ronan asked.
Declan’s face cleared. “This is the most useful thing you’ve ever dreamt. You should name it.”
“I have. ORBMASTER. All caps.”
“Technically you’re the orbmaster though, right? And that’s just an orb.”
“Anyone who holds it becomes an ORBMASTER. You’re an ORBMASTER right now. There, keep it, put it in your pocket. D.C. ORBMASTER.”
Declan reached out and scuffed Ronan’s shaved head. “You’re such a little asshole.”
The last time they’d stood on this roof together, their parents had both been alive, and the cattle in these fields had been slowly grazing, and the world had been a smaller place. That time was gone, but for once, it was all right.
The brothers both looked back over the place that had made them, and then they climbed down from the roof together.

Find something different to defend to the death. Like idk, a classic book or smth. Or a movie that was actually good and had cultural impact (not the Star Wars sequels, only the prequel and og trilogy had impact. The new shot is blatant milking from a capitalist shitstain company that would rather its employees die in their cars from starvation than give them a livable wage.) or maybe go take a literature class and learn abt subtext and themes, and narrative equivalencies, and be able to understand that real life affects fiction (1984) so logically, the reverse must be true. (literary tropes and monsters becoming mainstream, concepts and phrases from books becoming so commonplace nobody can even remember where they came from, a lot of things abt Sherlock Holmes and how so many things from that series of stories affected real life police and detectives and how they were perceived. these are all examples of fiction affecting reality and peoples perception of it.) you are being a clown for no reason. Take off the mcdonald shoes and put on your big girl ones.
What kinda fucking cocknozzle sits there and tells someone else that the thing they like ain't worth defending then shoots a fucking fat turd of a paragraph trying to explain why?
Yes, that's what I want. A fucking prick telling me the thing I love is bad because they don't fucking understand it.
Ya daffy fucking cunt. You probably don't know fucking dick about botany but that don't mean the kudzu that has been slowly choking the entirety of the fucking southern states of America suddenly isn't a fucking issue anymore because you don't understand what the flying fuck it is.
Things can mean many things to other people even though the point can evade you, and fuck me sideways, a lot of information looks like it evades those two brain cells you got knockin' around. Let's help you out by pointing you to a few metas since you can't seem to understand the cultural impact these movies may have had on some people: Musically Ben and Rey mirror one another.
Another music study on Ben and Rey's leitmotifs because John Williams don't fuck around and understood the fucking assignment.
Reylo is just reverse anidala and you can see this shit with your fucking eyes closed
Rey has a lot of fucking reasons to be absolutely fucking furious but chooses the high road and how we can all learn from that.
Rey and Ben are ying and yang.
They cover that topic a lot because it's not fucking subtle.
Kylo Ren and the five stages of grief
The color red is in The Last Jedi a lot and it's not fucking accidental.
More on the topic of blood and the color red used in these movies.
The trilogies are all metaphors for growing up.
The Force Bond was set up in The Force Awakens and it's really fucking obvious.
Another one.
And another one.
Many of these metas, specifically the force bond ones, were made well fucking before The Last Jedi came out if that tells you how fucking obvious the bond was going to be in the plot structure of these fucking movies moving forward.
You remember this scene?
Tumblr media
Yeah John Williams knew full fucking well reylo was gonna be a goddamn thing
Really fucking obvious Beauty and the Beast parallels.
Snoke is a dragon from ye olde fairytales.
The canto bight scene and it's cinematic parallels to My Fair Lady
Just to name a fucking few.
There are literal lists upon lists of these fucking metas on tumblr.
Listen, I could go fucking on there are countless metas floating around on this very fucking website that covers just... fucking everything dealing with The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.
Tumblr media
Not you Rise of Skywalker, we don't fucking talk about you.
These 2 movies alone gave us so much fucking content that even now 8 years after their release we can still dive in and catch new shit. That ain't fucking shallow you dense motherfucker.
Just because you watched these movies with your head rammed up your ass so fucking far you can only see shit doesn't mean they are shallow works with zero cultural impact. They don't mean dick To You. They mean quite a bit to many other people who ain't fucking stupid.
I may be a clown but you're a fucking joke.

I’m just thinking about how pathetic Sidious is, when you really look at the big picture.
He spends 13 years getting close to Anakin, pretending to be his friend, preparing him to be his next apprentice. The second he reveals himself to be a Sith, Anakin draws his lightsaber and gets ready to kill him. Palpatine needs to resort to using Pamé’s life as leverage.
He wipes out 95% of the Jedi Order! Hell yeah! Yoda just walks into his office and shoves him across the room, humiliating him.
He wears a mask for most of his life, spends 40 years pretending, trying to orchestrate the Jedi’s downfall and build the foundations of an Empire. And he finally made it! He’s the king of the world! He’s Napoleon! It takes the Jedi just 3 years of being genuine, being their kind selves and helping people to plant the seeds that’ll bring that Empire down. Hell, they did that without even trying, it was just a happy byproduct!
Palpatine's Empire lasted over 20 years! The Republic that the Jedi defended lasted for 1,000 years. Palpatine couldn’t even make it to a century.
He’s got Ezra Bridger in front of his parents, no way he doesn’t unlock the door to the World Between Worlds... Actually, Ezra is stronger than Palpatine gives him credit for, and lets go of his attachment.
Palpatine has his Death Star. It blows up whole planets, it is impregnable, the galaxy should tremble in fear. It gets destroyed by some rando farm boy who learned the term “the Force” the day before.
But it’s cool, right? He’s got a second Death Star. He’ll make it look defenseless, but actually it’s not. He puts the shield generator on a moon, with barely any defenses, because the only potential threats are the natives, who are fucking teddy bears. The teddy bears and, like, 20 rebels, blow up the shield.
He’s had a tight grip on Vader for the past two decades, there’s no way that Luke, this boy, can turn him. He’s not trying to kill Vader? Seriously? Then, what’s he gonna do? Love him to death? Pffft. Please. Luke’s love teaches his father to act out of compassion, and Anakin kills Vader and the Emperor.
Who cares? He awakens in his clone body, he got the last laugh-- Fuck! The body wasn’t ready and is rapidly aging and decaying! Anakin just condemned Palpatine to 30 years of pure agony!
After years of attempting to get a son/clone of himself, he finally manages to make one...! It’s not Force-sensitive. FuuuuuuUUUUUUU--
-- Whatever, he’ll bide his time. Let the Rebels and their “New Republic” think that they are at peace. He’ll come back! He’ll show ‘em! He’ll take back control...! The whole Sequel Trilogy takes place in the span of 1 year. The reign of the First Order over the galaxy is essentially a parenthesis in galactic history.
Screw it! He absorbed a dyad’s life force. He’s almost as powerful as the goddamn Mortis Gods! He’s wearing a sexy red & black Hugh Heffner bathrobe! Who’s gonna stop him? Huh? Some scavenger girl from nowhere? She can barely stand! And the Jedi are dead! The dead Jedi empower Rey, she kills Palpatine for good. The Final Order’s reign lasted less than a day. TROS is the Star Wars equivalent of Waterloo.
Sidious is so pathetic, I swear :D
And I’m glad LucasFilm keeps this character trait consistent, even in the Sequels and Rebels.
For all his power, for all his cunning... he keeps overlooking things like love, compassion, bravery, kindness and it keeps. screwing him. over.
He fails like all Sith do… by being arrogant.
Every single time. Cuz being evil is for morons, being good is where it’s really at.
I love it.

Heat Wave (TJ KLUNE)
Im never gonna forgive TJK for what he just did to me. This book was a RIDE. I laughed, I cried, I lost my mind and I screamed YOU SICK SON A BITC- more times than I'm proud of.
I finished the trilogy less than an hour ago and I'm already griving the characters, because I miss them. It's so weird, but I a part of me is telling me that we didn't have enough of them. Which is absurd because if TJK is good at something is at giving his characters the amount of scenes that they deserve. But for some reason I don't feel satisfied this time. At all.
Don't get me wrong, this was a hella good last book. The last chapter and the epilogue had me sobbing so bad my cat started to worry. The plot, the action scenes, the character development, the resolution. Just perfect.
But god, I didn't have enough of it. And I think that that might have been the point.
The series talks about being queer, young and different. It talk about being underestimated because of that. About fighting for your right of being loud and making your own decisions, of being treat as an equal. Talks about how you actually don't need superpowers to be a hero, or extraordinary. About learning to live with our past, with our mistakes and all the things we've lost. But above all, it talks about hope. Hope we won't lose nothing more, hope we can have the future we are fighting for, hope things will get better, that we can make them better.
So yeah, I will miss these characters forever, because they are young and have a wonderful life to live, and we only get to see a small fraction of what they'll become. And I'll miss them because they gave me so much hope.
I don't know what else I can say that I haven't said before, so I'll just drop a few of my favorite quotes from this book:
"I don’t need you to be my hero because I’m already my goddamn hero."
"Trust, remember? You and me. I’ve got your back if you’ve got mine.” “You and me,” Dad whispered back. “Always.”
"This was where they’d lived with her. This was where they’d laughed and cried, where they’d argued and then forgiven"
“The future is scary because it’s unknown. But look at us now. Look at all we’ve done.”
"My brain is my superpower, but it’s not the only one I’ve got."
“We’re extraordinary,” Nicholas Bell whispered as he closed his eyes. And breathed.
Oh, one last thing: fuck you TJK for making me have feelings. Not cool, bro. Not cool at all

- two other things that fucked me up: no one mourning over fili’s dead body- appreciate him, cowards >:(, and thorin never knowing that kili died (+ bilbo not learning of it until after the fact)
- anyways. great fucking movie. great fucking trilogy. i cried just as hard this time as i did the first. 10/10 would recommend.

Okay, I'm gonna come clean for a bit. You're going to learn things you don't need to know, and probably won't want to.
I'm ace. That post I reblogged a few days ago that was all, "I make sex jokes because sex is a joke," is me to a T. I have never looked at anyone in my life and gone, "I wanna tap that." I've read plenty of sexy fan fiction and published fiction where the writers explain, in great detail, how sexual attraction works with arousal and I'm like, "Haha, what?" Ain't me, bro.
That being said, there is the phenomenon they call "aesthetic attraction." Which, when I first heard about it, I was like, "Huh?" but then it was explained and I went, "Oh, that! Yes, I am familiar with that." For me, it's looking at someone--generally not real--and going, "God DAMN, they're pretty!" but in the same way someone might be knocked breathless by a sunset on the Grand Canyon or who moans when they eat something Really Tasty. (Why you gotta moan like that, though? Don't make it weird.)
... Men with long hair and in long, flowy-ish clothing are my Aesthetic. Men with long, well-taken care of hair? Nice. Men in "robes"? Nice. Put those two things together and I am dead. I have been taken out. I don't wanna fuck 'em, but I could look at them until the day I die.
People on my dash keep reblogging The Untamed, I think it's called, and every time they do I'm like, "Hrnghagduab," because GodDAMN, that is a Look. Everyone's fucking pretty in that show.
And before anyone says shit about fetishizing, I am also slain by LotR's elves, alright? I watched the first trilogy for Legolas and I watched the second for Thranduil. Especially Thranduil. He had them swords. And he would spin around and his hair and clothes would do the Thing. That Thing dresses do when you spin in them. I didn't even care what the hell was happening. Spin more, sexy elf man. Do the Thing.
...So, yeah. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

MY RE-WRITING PARTS OF THE ACOTAR SERIES
*some acosf spoilers thrown in because i realize that SJM is writing a story so far removed from what i thought the story should go*
*a bit rant-y but i think this would have made the story more compelling*
i still think elain should have died in the cauldron back in ACOMAF and in my logic this would set of a story that will definitely heal and see powerful women who didn’t have power before be able to weld and rise up.
- nesta and feyre is over protective of elain and would do anything for her (and quite frankly elain’s personality is almost none existent. nesta and feyre are fantastic juxtapositions of one another and can carry themselves well)
- killing elain in the cauldron would up the stakes for both feyre and nesta (instead of making the only thing interesting about elain being likeable, gardening, azriel/lucien ships, pretty and agreeable, and bouncing back and forth between sisters)
- therefore forcing them to work together; push aside their personal bad blood for one another in the name of avenging elain
- through that process of strategizing and learning about fae and their own abilities (feyre’s high lord powers and nesta’s power she stole from the cauldron) they learn to appreciate one another. (and since this is a love story, nesta can still train with cassian but it would be BECAUSE SHE ASKED TO BE TRAINED instead of being forced to)
- they would eventually HAVE to confront their deep personal relationship to one another and move pass their old pains (INSTEAD OF MAKING FEYRE ALMOST DIE FROM SOMETHING THAT SHOULDN’T BE AN ISSUE OR ANY OF THE SPITEFUL SHIT THAT HAPPENS IN ACOSF)
- we learn about their family and their dynamics and how they can agree that their father is trash and even talk about the pain their mother gave (where BOTH SISTERS WILL HAVE AN APPRECIATION OF EACH OTHER AND MAKE SURE WHEN THEY HAVE FAMILIES OF THEIR OWN THEY WON’T TREAT THEIR KIDS THE SAME WAY AND EVEN HELPING HUMAN FAMILIES WHO STRUGGLED LIKE THEM)
- no locking anyone up!!!! the self sabotage of nesta won’t happen because she will put her energy into avenging elain; thus fighting for a bigger cause than herself and make her actually use the power she stole. SHE WOULD HAVE AGENCY. NO RELYING ON THE DRINKING/SEX BECAUSE OF PAIN TROPE. NO RHYSAND BEING A FUCKEN DICK AND EVERYONE SHIT TALKING TO NESTA. they can still have that disagreeable dynamic, whatever but rhysand being over protective and everyone else ganging up on her was disgusting and she did not deserve that.
- WE WILL SEE THEM BECOME LEADERS -- they will lead the strategy along w the IC; we will see them lead with the other high lords, we will see them convince the humans. we got glimpses of that in ACOWAR! SJM writes girlbosses which is just *rolls eyes*. lets let these ladies actually LEAD. let them actually have power instead of writing lip service for that. or taking their fucken power away for the drama. (WTF WAS THE FEYRE CAN’T HEAL BULLSHIT?? WHY STIFLE FEYRE WHEN SJM BUILT HER UP IN THE LAST FOUR FUCKEN BOOKS TO BE THIS POWERFUL FIGURE BUT LIKE GIVING BIRTH, A NATURAL THING THAT FEMALES CAN DO, IS GONNA KILL HER AND MAKE HER THE MOST VULNERABLE SHES EVER BEEN AND MAKE RHYSAND LOOK LIKE A SHIT PARTNER CUZ HE REFUSE TO TELL HER ABOUT HER RISKS. JUST FOR THE DRAMA I GUESS???)
- when war is fought and lost; we see them stand together to become the new leaders of the new world. the wall is gone and hybern is killed. again, we got a glimpse of that in ACOWAR at the end. there should have been a moment when fayre confronts tamlin and TALK to him. they seemed so poised to be LEADERS. new leadership because the old high lords are garbage and they fucked up so many times. introduce new policies, introduce new trade deals, beef up economies (esp since this is hyberns main reason to high up prythian), etcetc.
- feyre can work on leading night court as a high lady along with leading the rebuild of spring court (since she fucken wrecked it, displaced all the citizens, and took it from tamlin. feyre also knows about spring court’s rebuilding effort and how the tilthe isn’t it. she even said that tamlin should not make ppl bring useless things because they have so many things. the water folks dont have fish and that tamlin should have helped them hunt for fish or whatever instead of punishing them) and the new laws and policies for humans (can be intigration?? rhys and feyre talked about human refugees??? where did that talk go??). we can actually see feyre be a HIGH lady instead of her spending her days shopping and decorating and breeding (WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT WOULD HAPPEN WITH TAMLIN and we saw that as a bad thing!!! why spend 600 goddamn pages talking about not being that to turn 180 and be exactly that????)
- feyre’s reason for fighting has also been to the benefit of the human realm. the fact that she kind of said fuck it as the books progressed to where nesta or elain are the ambassador to the human realm felt so wrong because being human once was what was special about feyre. that was her north star. her whole heartedly identifying fae is wrong (maybe this is my theory about ACOTAR being a tragedy comes in).
- nesta would finally be an actual queen. you can’t tell me with all the mentions of nesta having queen energy is gonna translate to whatever the fuck it was in ACOSF??? nesta would get leadership experience. she would have purpose! she might even be able to envision of brighter future and fight to not let something like hybern happen again. protect those who can’t be protected? protect those who see the light in the world the way elain did?? maybe even her power can protect the cauldron and she could be a guardian or something??
- this is where i venture off; after the war, feyre leads the rebuild in prythian. nesta can lead the effort in hybern (AGAIN NO LOCKING UP!!! NO TAKING TIPS FROM TAMLIN’S HANDBOOK. NO FORCING HER AGAINST HER WILL!!!). she could rebuild it in a new name and face. her book could focus on her learning about her power; learning about how to please the hybern folks who dont like her (and i like that nesta isnt a likeable person from the start unless you are someone like meeeee). imagine seeing her ACTUALLY make her own friends and have her own inner circle??? imagine her making new friends and helping others. imagine her ruling??? making policys and laws?? imagine her going to different courts to do economic trades and deals?? she would channel her energy into something HELPFUL AND IMPACTFUL. she can still dance and do the big ball stuff. she can host she can feel like shes in control and maybe even channeling her guilt into something that is systematically helpful.
- along w this, cassian would be able to leave night court. he has been side line for so long. hes a buffer between mor and az and thats unfair to him. hes his own person and shouldnt be deligated to that task. he would have to actively choose nesta, which he wasn’t doing throughout the original trilogy. he would have to be placed in an environment outside his comfort! cassian is so much more than a goof ball and buffer. besides his skills might be necessary to handle hybern’s war-happy citizens
- we can see more of this world. hybern is sitting empty and the problems from the start still exists. im just so disappointed that SJM drops hints of scocio-economic problems that exists in the fae world and dont deliver. why deliver something so complicated to ignore??? its such ashame this world is so rich and beautiful and the characters are so fun to read about and for it to be turn out...so....trope-y (IN A BAD WAY). the original stories are fine too i guess, but it doesn’t feel planned out. it feels like SJM writes on a whim and just changes things as she sees it fit the relationship of characters.
