something i love about comics (and this is probably just the beleaguered college student in me) is the fact that like. you have to cite your sources. it is so much more normalized in comics fan culture than anywhere else i’ve been that you provide evidence for your claim. and i for one love it lol im more surprised when there aren’t panels/quotes provided with an analysis

Animal amane.... i mean i guesss she's got her whole animal thing in magic but... undead alice would've fit so so good it would've highlighted her cult mentality (doesn't it feel good that only the two of us are normal) and shown her guilt over being perfect + good for her family (the instinct to want to be good and the desire for things that are bad end up becoming close, this is torture) and the reason for her murder (its an illusion to think everything will go back to how it was after saying bye bye) and the commitment she has to her cult going into trial 2 (is this undead feeling hope or despair?) butttttt ig animal fits too kinda................................ wouldve fit mappi or kotoko well but no amane is no longer trying to look like a good girl so ig the first line of animal fits...................... i guess..........

the banger scene between him and yue heng where she asks him what he needs to feel the relief of justice, and he tells her that there is nothing the yue family owes him.

I just think it's pretty chill of him to realize that it's not entirely marquis yue's fault. sure, dude took advantage of the situation to have the head of the Xuan family killed; but his actions alone were not responsible for the fall of gu.

what's ridiculous about buyi is that he's not actually all that blinded by revenge — by the time he gets to this moment with yue heng, he's already been murdering and manipulating left and right, and it hasn't given him any peace. he knows that it's not the answer--insisting on marquis yue's death, and he doesn't push.

of course, then he takes all of that frustrated rage and points it inward, and we know how the rest of the story unfolds....

(pretty well for him, in all actuality—didn't die, lost very little, gained a fief even as he was demoted...)

the point is, buyi is not irrationally obsessed with revenge, and that's why I like him. sometimes it seems that he doesn't even want it. he approaches it like its a duty

I guess I find the shipping discourse a little funny because fandoms are gonna create ships regardless of the subject matter. I think really heavy, depressing media creates a need for people to see human connection. It’s like a way to cope, you know? More importantly and specific to this game (Mouthwashing), I also find it a little funny just because the devs themselves seem to be leaning towards ~one~ “ship” by retweeting artwork that depicts them as pretty close and protective. They even did an edit of them on that Florence Pugh and that one white guy romance movie with a “what could have been” caption. Sooo tldr the ship drama is kind of dumb. Please block and move on cause the discourse is taking up space on my feed when I’m trying to look for more art of Daisuke lmao
