Contributor applications will be opening July 1, 2024. We’ll make a post with the link to the contributor apps at 3PM EST on July 1, but you’ll also be able to find a link to the apps on our Carrd when the time comes! Right now the button on our Carrd is a placeholder, but if you press it now, you’ll be rewarded with a cool and funky video :]

☆ Will page size/formatting guidelines be given?

Yes! At the moment, there are placeholder measurements in our info-doc. Proper formatting will be finalized before contributor apps open once we’ve onboarded our formatting mods and discussed what sizes are best!

☆ Can my contribution include multiple HetaGirls?

YES!!! Let them interact!

☆ Are ships allowed?

Yes! As of right now, our only restrictions are no Belarus x Ukraine and no NSFW content.

☆ How many contributors will you accept to the zine?

At the moment, we’re a bit unsure! This is both Soph and Arson’s first time hosting a zine so we don’t want to bite off more than we can chew. As of right now, we may accept up to ~30 visual contributors and ~10 writing contributors, but those are estimates. We’ve gotten a ton of support for this zine, but we need to find our footing first! Ultimately, the final number of contributors will depend on what the mod team feels they can handle and how many applications we get!

☆ Why are you putting limits onto how Nyotalia characters can appear in the zine?

This zine originally came to be with the canon women in mind. We want the zine to focus on Ancient Egypt, Belarus, Belgium, Czechia, Hungary, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Seychelles, Taiwan, Ukraine, Vietnam, and Wy, as much of their canon material treats them as supporting roles to the male characters. We additionally would love to see submissions for Ancient Greece, Kenya, and Zimbabwe!

The Nyotalia characters are understandably very popular because they're a different take on the main cast. While we also love Nyotalia, we worry that very popular characters, like the main 8, will overshadow the characters we created this zine for in the first place. Nyotalia women are allowed in supporting roles because it would understandably be a little difficult for the writers if they were only limited to a specific set of 12-17 characters.

Some examples of work featuring Nyotalia characters would be:

A frying pangle fic where Hungary interacts with Nyo!Austria and/or Nyo!Prussia

A group illustration centering Vietnam’s interactions with Nyotalia ASEAN

An AmeBela illustration where Belarus interacts with Nyo!America

Some exceptions may be allowed on a case by case basis.

TLDR: You can draw Nyotalia women so long as they play a supporting role to one of the canon ladies.

☆ How many OCs will be allowed?

It depends on how many applications we receive! So long as they're a nation & aren't already canon to Hetalia, it's fair game. We want to see ladies from all over the globe!

☆ Why do you want more than one pitch?

We don't want to force people to make work they're disinterested in, but we also don't want there to be a disproportionate amount of material for one girl over another. As of right now, Hungary is in the most demand with 69.2% of responses, but Wy (34.6%) and Monaco (42.3%) have the least amount! We want to encourage more work for the more neglected ladies!

☆ Can I make more than one submission?

As of right now, yes! So long as everyone isn't doing more than one piece and if the contributor thinks they can handle two pieces during the time frame, we wanna see those HetaGirls!

Gonna be real with you, I think the biggest shock I've had coming back to the fandom was finding out that Hima retconned Prussia and Austria to be cousins. I literally found this out like. 2 or 3 weeks ago.

Hetalia's been out for well over a decade now and PruAus/Frying Pangle have always been relatively popular. Or at least they are to someone who was deep in the trenches 2014-2017/18. I shared this Fun Fact with my friends who also Did Their Time in the fandom at the same time/before I did, and all of them are like. Huh? I can understand why Hima went and made Austria and Prussia related considering (gestures at map, language, and history book), but I don't accept it. I think of all the things to retcon... this one came far too late in the game, especially for long time fans. I get that it could've been assumed prior to 2021, but,,, man that's a whole decade before Hima decided to blatantly state it. From what I heard, he confirmed it in the 10th anniversary collezione? My feelings about Frying Pangle are a little difficult now that I know this, but I really do think that this was something retconned far too late in the game.

I don't see Gil and Rod to be cousins. I never have. I never will.

However, for the newer fans and people accepting of the change, I totally understand if Frying Pangle makes you uncomfortable. If I were a newer fan, I would be in that crowd. It's just,,, I know Hima is constantly retconning things, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse, but I really really believe this one came far too late.

To describe Rod & Gil's relationship...

There is SO much tension here. They are enemies, they are rivals, they are frenemies. I definitely think they have some soft moments, but they are far and few in-between. However, I wouldn't go so far as to say Erzse is the glue holding them together. All three of them are so interwoven with one another that it wouldn't be fair to say one is the leader of the group over the others. Though... Erzse does wear the pants.

I think there's a lot of tension in the group. Gil butts heads with Erzse and Rod a lot, but I think his relationship with both of them individually is stronger than Erzse and Rod's relationship.

Also??? Erzse and Gil are absolute chaos gremlins and Rod is just. There. Someone help him.

I also just have deep attachment to the three of them as a unit, romantic or platonic. The friends I ran my Hetalia Instagram account with and I attached ourselves to a Frying Pangle member each (I was Hungary). For our 800 or 900 follower thank you post, I drew the three of us (badly) as them!

TLDR: The 10yr anniversary is too late to confirm Austria and Prussia to be related in my books. I found out about this literally October 7th 2023. It is October 23 2023. I found Hetalia in early 2014. I don't see them as cousins because I have 9 years of history with them. I don't mind Frying Pangle and still enjoy them due to personal memories and their fun dynamic.

my ❤ otp is awful ❤ completed templates, tho they are [forgot word] to the max. also, "het", i think i pretty much hc erzsi as a boydyke (that AND/or similar vibe[? help] bigender or transmasc; hc changes according to what i'm doing tho). she tries to not think too much about it :')

pruhun: both are aggressive, erzsi is more mature but not by so much, is less when around him. they get along until they fight, until they make out up, then they fight again. gil is insufferable both on purpose and not on purpose, erzsi gets tired of him. ups and downs and ups and downs, that's something that happens with the other combinations too.

aushun: rod won't admit certain things; erzsi does think he is more helpless than he is; there is some codependency, and there was or still there is power imbalance. in some senses would be smarter for them for stay only as friends (same as above; same as with all three), but what can you do when you have know each other for some long, and are immortal?

pruaus: keep gil as a stalker, and keep them as cousins, cowards. half-joking, do you do, just leave alone people that make them toxic. these two don't talk or admit about their feelings, just stay around each other even if they supposedly hate each other guts. contraries atract, but is not like they never get along (music!!)

frying pangle: the things above, keeping in mind erzsi isn't someone composed 100% of the time. can be assertive but isn't the same as girlbossing or she can be a mess and pathetic (also i prefer her more dom leaning than sub, also something that's not the same but gets confused, and my reasoning is bc she can get uneasy subbing too hard).

lietbel: actually closer to that 'girlboss'-'pegging'-'wifeguy' dynamic. tolys doesn't see or doesn't care about the red flags, which also implies his obsession. other reason why isn't an uwu ship is because she was her subject once upon a time--i know far less about these two in historic terms tho, and and far from an expert about the other three btw.

...and that's why i need pru/hun, aus/hun, fryi/ng pangle (pru/hunaus WHAT ORDER PEOPLE USE THE MOST?), and Iietbel (Iietbela?) to be at least an itty bit toxic or flawed. keep they personalities and dynamics, and at more.

Other than that I don't really have a preference for which kind of gender/sex to write. If I care enough about a character there will eventually be a nsfw scenario featuring them on my mind :)

I have been told I'm good with (dramatic) character introductions and setting the mood. I always get these super detailed images in my head and then I try to convey those feelings and pictures into words and I'd say I'm doing very well with that. ✨🔥

Plot, planning things ahead, and actually posting the stuff I do finish. 💀

18.) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in fic?

I like it when it's just single words that are not plot relevant (like greetings and short exclamations that can be made sense of in the context), but you will never find me writing entire paragraphs in a different language just to make you scroll to the end of a fic multiple times throughout a chapter so you can look for a translation (sorry if I sound like bitch here but I hate having my reading flow interrupted rip)

This is easier to answer than I thought when I first read through these questions, but it's definitely Unwinding Mr. Kirkland. I spent months editing it until I was happy with it and I love it I love every last sentence I wrote there. 💖

Bela is definitely topping the boys but also they would adore her either way so she doesnt have to do much to get them where she wants them. except later into the relationship they test the limits (looking at all of them here) by being brats. and occassionally she deserves a break and let the guys take care of her 💕

Japan always seems so prude, but I think he would be the one to suggest some v kinky stuff for them to try out. He and Romania seem like the type of person to watch porn and actively search for new positions, toys, kinks,.. 👀 England is probably the one who thinks hes prepared for anything but his partners always succeed in surprising him with new ways to pleasure him and themselves.

Also just style and look wise they would be one of the sexiest ships I think. Norway and Belarus have great taste and would make their polycule look like models who walked right off the runway! and they also pick out cute underwear for everyone

Lesbian frying pangle? Another great thought. I think nyo Prussia would be more confident and relaxed about sex than her male counterpart so she tells her girlfriends exactly what she likes and how could they not have a great time like this? They dont have many different toys, but the ones they have are being used frequently.

I have an unfinished frying pangle fic where hungary sits on prussias face and a little later austria joins them and sucks prussia off and actually this position would work for lesbian frying pangle too, tho a little different.. I was thinking nyo austria sitting on nyo prussias face while hungary rails her with a strap on? Idk just a thought ^^

adding japan to this ship is interesting.. he would be so done with all these girls flirting with him (because I cant see them being very discreet about their intents too. maybe nyo austria, but shes overshadowed by her girlfriends in this regard) but they would treat him really good. taking turns riding him and when he cums they get it on with each other during his refractory period before continuing with a second round.
