f1news Y/N Norris arrives to Silverstone today ahead of this weekends race! The sister of McLaren driver Lando Norris has attended a few races in the past, seen quite regularly when her brother competed in Formula 2 and Formula 3. However this is the first Formula 1 race she has attended in support of her brother! Most believe she is attending Lando’s home race as it is closer to where she resides in London, working as a human rights ambassador with charities such as Unicef, Save the Children, and the British Red Cross. We’re so excited to see her throughout the weekend!

Ok sorry this might be long but I want to say that you are truly an all star in the joel fandom, guts. I read Seeing Pink like 3 times last week. Waiting game has changed my brain chemistry for fucking real. I think about it TOO much. I think I actually need to take a break from all the smut I read in general and all the smut i RE-READ too, waiting game definitely top of the list for the latter. For books I haven't posted about yet... I just finished Juniper & Thorn by Ava Reid (and will make a post about it soon). It's not a perfect read, but if you like horror and fairytale tropes, you'll get something about this.

Besides that, I recommend The Bell Jar by Slyvia Plath, and the works of Robert Cormier (I Am the Cheese and The Chocolate Wars are two of my favorites). If you like war stories, All Quiet On the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque is required reading.

I really enjoy the works of Octavia Butler. Kindred is my absolute favorite, but Parable of the Sower is very relevant to the current political moment. Future Home of the Living God by Louise Erdrich also scarred the fuck out of me, but is a great work on reproductive rights.

I did an entire seminar on Virginia Woolf. Besides Mrs. Dalloway, I think Into the Lighthouse and Orlando are very good.

For the classics, I love Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. One of the first classics I ever fell in love with was Charles Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities, though Great Expectations is also exceptional.

One of my favorite books of all time that I never discuss with anyone anywhere is Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov, for obvious reasons. Read this book for two reasons. One, it will fuck you up. Nabokov's work with perspective and unreliable narrators is fucking insane. Second, Nabokov does something with the English language that I have never seen before and will probably never see again. If anyone has a command of the English language, it's him.

How do I find books to read? Some of the books I read before they are recommended to me by friends or by someone online. As long as you avoid romance/romantasy, BookTok/BookTube/Bookblr is a great place to get recs. I watch a lot of CariCanRead on Youtube because she reads a massive amount of books I have never heard of and is generally really honest about what books she liked/hated and why. I also windowshop at bookstores and libraries and just check out what is available on the shelves.

Honestly, the best advice I can give you is to let go of the idea of every book being impeccable art. You do not have to always be reading the Great American Novel. You can read books that are silly and outright trash. Once you shed the idea that books are some higher form of art, you remember that they are made to be entertainment. Like movies, there are going to be days where you want to watch post-modern French films or Oscar-winning movies about the turn of the century. There are also going to be days where you want to watch a silly comedy, or a trashy reality TV show, or you just go to the movies for something to do.

It's healthier for you if not every book is life changing. I have read some really bad books (some on purpose), and I have read some books that were just aggressively mediocre. Even if they didn't transform me into a better writer/reader/person, they were still worth reading. And when you give yourself permission to read books you might not necessarily like, it gets easier to try new genres and take risks on unfamiliar works. That's where you get new experiences. That's where a book sneaks up on you and smacks you on the back of the head with something that will absolutely make you change the way you see the world.

If anything, just try reading things you normally wouldn't read, be it sci-fi, memoir, historical epic, classic romance, etc.

An unpopular opinion: I HATED FFXIV ARR so much. i know it's not an unpopular opinion but it took forever to get into ffxiv that i was genuinely concerned i wasnt going to like it. if you want to play the game just get the free trial. also the way people treat tifa wrt cloud makes me feel insane

My Canon OTP: not exactly an otp but tidus and yuna are SO cute :[ i do also like celes and locke a LOT though

Most Badass Character: IGNIS!!!!!! episode ignis makes me feel insane. i actually didn't care that much for him until after i played the game and was like wait hes actually amazing

Most Epic Villain: as for EPIC its gotta be kefka for sure. he has the best OST and best fight for sure. i also LOVE kuja and ardyn but theyre not particularly "epic" i think

Pairing I am not a fan of: cloud/sephiroth, terra/anyone(except maybe celes..), ignis/noctis(though it might be growing on me? shrug)

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): i could write an essay about ffxv. lunafreya deserved more screentime & from what i read what they had in mind for her was REALLY interesting and im excited to read her chapter in the novel. gladio was a bit better in episode gladiolus than the actual game... but he wasnt awful either. also, not FF, but all of the kingdom hearts portrayals of all the ff characters is HORRIBLE.

Favourite Friendship: i know yuna and tidus are a couple but they're ADORABLE friends too :[ i love them together. also prompto and noctis! zack and cloud are cute too

How I feel about this character: HES MY ALLTIME FAVOURITE FF CHARACTER all the characters in ffvi are so good but i just looove sabin and it doesn't help that soraya saga put so much love into writing him and edgar LOL

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: cyan of course... i've also seen people shipping him with vargas which is good too but i haven't thought that much about their dynamic

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: EDGAR OF COURSE their whole thing makes me. grrr. GRRR. how horrified was sabin to find out his brother formed an allyship with the very people who murdered their family. yet they were so happy to see each other once again when they reunited :[ i miss them. also edgar trying to convince his TWIN brother that he was a completely different person was hilarious. aside from him GAU!! sabin's dedication to encouraging him to reunite with his father because he couldn't have the same thing for himself & yet it was never possible grrrr. Grrrrrrr. also i think they're just hilarious LOL. despite that he doesn't exactly interact with the other characters but imagining anything with all the other FFVI cast is really fun. i really like the one DFFOO story where shelke and llyud asked sabin about edgar and he basically encouraged them to host a lengthy investigation on him all day long LMAO.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: in general i wish we got more content in ffvi! i wish we'd get a proper remake! or even a novel or something! if ffvi got the ffvii treatment we'd get so much more content on all the characters :[

Favorite friendship for this character: OK so i heard he's friends or acquaintances at least with shadow... but.......... i killed shadow before the WOR and i havent wanted to look up his cutscenes before my replay so i haven't thought about his relationship with him past the phantom train.... i guess favourite friendship would have to be with his brother LMFAO.

well i loved your stories but i won’t subscribe you anymore because of how you behave when someone doesn’t praise your fic to the sky. so what YOU think that just because YOU write your fics are the best? luckily among all of those people who write fics about aemond there are many people who don’t behave like children whining about someone not loving it. they are more self aware than you and don’t think they are the greatest writer ever just because they published 1 story. well as someone who were in many fandoms and wrote a couple of fics let me enlighten you how it is like when you public something on AO3 or here on Tumblr. there will always be those who don’t like it and by saying some nonsense you just prove you are an immature person whose arrogance clouded her vision. do you have any idea how many times people try to public their writings how hard it is for those more ambitious who want to have their writings published? how many times for example Rowling was told no? and even when the book isn’t as popular as Harry Potter or Game of Thrones success is through the hard work and showing it to others and they will tell what you do right and wrong. and you think just because you public on the internet you are the best and every word which isn’t praise is wrong? as i said i took you for better person i misjudged you and it turned out you are just immature person who isn’t ready to public on internet because every critic word you take as child who lost his favourite toy. But as someone wise said if you want to know a person character observe how they behave when someone doesn’t agree with them. we all love to hear only praise it feeds our ego but world is not a place where everyone will like you and your fics. i could only hope you will learn that not the hardest way but unfortunately for you no one likes arrogant people who expect only praise. i am sorry i took you for far better human being i won’t repeat that mistake anymore.

dkdjfjdjf cool no problem 🫡 as I have said multiple times, I’m very grateful for people who give me constructive criticism. that’s part of why I love fanfic: because you get to take advice and ideas AS you’re writing, improving the story as you go. It’s a collaborative effort with your readers and it has helped me grow so much as a writer and I am very grateful for every last person who gives me thoughtful, constructive feedback.

but if all these anons have been the same person (which I think they have) then the one calling the story bland and saying it collapsed was just… mean-spirited and unhelpful?? It doesn’t read like you want to help me be a better writer, it reads like you are angry the story didn’t go the way YOU wanted it to and my character didn’t fit YOUR very narrow definition of what a “strong woman” should be. It reeked of entitlement to my time and energy for something you get for free. If someone sent me a message saying ‘hey I thought the setup of the story was great but I think you could work on how to pull things together, this is how I would do it…’ that’s one thing, and I fucking WISH someone would send me an ask like that because I WANT to get better. Writing is a skill that I’m in the infancy of learning. But “I thought it sucked and it was boring” isn’t constructive criticism. I don’t know what lessons you want me to take away from that. I also don’t know what qualifications you have to tell me how to be a better writer. if you came off anon and I could read some of YOUR writing, I’d have a better idea of whether you’re worth listening to. If I got handed a list of revisions tomorrow by JKR or GRRM or tumblr users whose writing I really enjoy (aemonds-sapphire or aemonds-war-crime would be 2 good examples) I would fucking drop everything and study it ‘til I’d learned from every word. but alas that’s unlikely to happen anytime soon!

and that one last night was just deeply offensive. I have people I love who have struggled to have children, have had emergency c-sections, have lost children, suffered miscarriages etc. so yeh it did touch the bone when you suggested that women who can’t have a big brood of children are “weak” or somehow less than. Again, I don’t understand what writing lessons I’m supposed to take from that and I will NOT be changing my values or my belief that there is no one RIGHT way to be a woman anytime soon.

hi again!! i have not played pl yet, but i’m planning on getting the dlc when i replay, it sounds very fun!! im glad johnny is still very involved, the moments where he was actually there as a hologram were my favorite. its such a fun little thing to have a guy only you can see. i liked the sun ending! im gonna do the pl liberty ending and then go for the secret one, i fucked up dialogue options on my first playthrough and was locked out of it so hopefully i'll get it right this time.

i think it would make sense if he was trying to avoid giving them a typical happy ending, and i probably would have enjoyed it more if i didn't like molly so much. there are ways to end their relationship to avoid that without ending her storyline!! the part where riviera throws up the holograms was insane!! i replayed that part of the audiobook so many times. cannot wait to read it over and over again.

one of the weird things about this chapter is that hanma's now in a great mood, he's happy, he's chill, but he's still so dangerous. you really nailed it when you said reader is babysitting her favorite psychopath. he can be happy and thinking about how he almost killed the instructor - he probably wouldn't have killed reader - and he can cheerfully recount murder. reader's past being too scared though, no matter how chilling, because she saw him gouge that guy's eyeball out once. they are past it lol

i am really really flattered by your comment about this reader and yasuko in dgm!! yes, they are not bad bitches because what kind of power / confidence / authority would even mean anything in the context of these dangerous murderers? and i like the contrast between those two characters. yasuko is def more sure of her desires, but less strongwilled, while this reader actually really struggles with recognizing or pursuing what she wants but is a concrete wall when it comes to what she DOESN'T want and i respect it. anyway ty that's really nice

One of my favorite tropes is people who initially think they don’t have much in common, and who are really reluctant to work together - finding out they have heaps in common and becoming like family 🥹🥹

I am also so soft for clones being connected (or reconnected I suppose) with Mandalorian cultural concepts like speaking the language, “name and soul”, found family dynamics… the list goes on forever!! This is me every time there is a crumb of mando spirituality associated with the GAR:

X reader content is sooo much fun and indulgent and I think that having a mando as a stand-in for the audience is pretty cool in that the “blank-slateness” is sort of built in- regarding physical descriptions. With beskar’gam and all - it covers all the bases and is really inclusive!!

And from a Mandalorian cultural standpoint I really believe that even the most jaded (traditionally-minded) Mandalorian would be so impressed with the way TBB operates ahhhh - definitely an “ok they are a part of my family now, no takesies-backsies” moment 😭😭

Tezra-14 & Trophy fic I whipped out real quick about his “second resurrection”. They talk, and start a new beginning.

Added a link but also just pasted it below🫡 got too lazy to make it pretty here, though. Also? I’m not a good writer, so if this makes no sense, sorry good luck!

His ghost is gone, he’s sent her off to find someone better, someone who’s not a monster like him. He enters a clearing with sparse foliage. He drops to his hands and knees. He’s weak and broken. His heart aches and his nerves and subsystems are firing off, warnings of an imminent shut-down. He won’t fight it anymore. He lays himself in the grass, and grips his woven necklace. He prays to the Traveler that will see Monarch again soon.

Tezra awakens with a jerk and a cough- Calamity scans him once, twice, then floats staring like he’s supposed to say something first.

There is silence before he decides to ask;

“Wh- why am I here?”

The ghost’s pupil narrows. “I’m done, I’m not letting you sulk in the dirt anymore!” Her shell expands, making her look like a puffed up cat.

She’s mad at me?

He sits up and surveys his surroundings, he remembers this and doesn’t. The clearing shows the passage of time evident with new growth.

“How long?”

Calamity spins her shell as if searching for an answer, as if she lost count.

“Centuries at least. I-it’s been so long for me Tez…”

His heart pangs, he remembers before his death, for him seconds, but for her? Centuries. He holds out his palm and after a second of hesitation she falls softly into his grip. He clutches her to his chest, the memory of his pain floods back, Monarch, the village, the warlord. A strained feedback emits from his vocal cords, “You should have left me dead Cal.”

There’s another pause before she responds, “I had to bring you back Tezra, there’s just so much going on and I can’t just leave y-“

Tezra cuts her off, “I don’t have anything for me here, stop”

Calamity flares her shell and flies into his face, “No, you stop! I get it Tez, I do. I get it hurts! What do you want?! A trophy? Boohoo, you are officially the saddest bastard around!” Her shell droops, resigned, “But do you really think this is what he would have wanted? For you to rust out here while there are people out there- innocent people- who need help? That you have the power to help!?”

Tezra sits stunned, in all their years together he’s never heard Calamity yell, that and…

She’s right.

Monarch saved him and together they devoted their strength and light to helping people. His heart aches, a fresh wound of loss. But Calamity is right, he wouldn’t have wanted this- wouldn’t have wanted Tezra to give up while there was someone out there who needed help. To do that would contradict everything they stood for together.

What feels like years of silence pass in the span of a minute. Clarity.

He reaches for her, draws her close and presses her to his forehead, “you’re right”

She sputters, “w-wait, what?”

“You. are. right. He wouldn’t have wanted this, and I need to do… something”

She floats up and her shell dances, spinning around her. “Okay, okay, repeat that first part again?”

“You are-“ his eyes narrow, “no, wait I know what you’re doin-“

“No no this is great! Please continue- hey hey you know, this is great! This is growth! I thought you were gonna be more stubborn than a bull and I’d have to beat it into you!”

Tezra swats at her softly, but the ghost dodges as giggles erupt from her.

“We should go, it’s been a long time, there’s a city now, the Last City. Lightbearers and civilians built it! It’s HUGE!” She spreads her shell to emphasize, “In the city, the lightbearers are organized! They made the Vanguard, Guardians who work together to help people! They have a lot of familiar faces! Like Lord Shaxx and-“ Tezra’s focus breaks from her words and more to her actions, she’s spinning and bobbing through the air excitedly, all the while he notes scuffs and dents on her shell that definitely weren’t there before.

“And then! This crazy cool warlock made light duplicat- you aren’t listening.” Her pupil narrows as she straightens her gaze at him. Tezra’s hands fly up in mock surrender, “I was! And then I was watching… a little more than anything else.” he sighs and softly runs a finger across a particularly deep dent.

She laughs nervously and her look softens, “oh- this is all nothing, Tez! Honest, it’s- it’s just been a while and accidents are bound to happen!” She’s turns away shyly and floats off.

Tezra huffs and begins to stand, his joints creak and the stiffness pulls at his paramuscles. He groans from the pressure, but stretches out his limbs. Tezra turns to look at his surroundings; trees and overgrowth are scattered around him and in the distance looms a giant wall. He removes his cloak and folds it, laying in to rest in the dirt. He grips the pair of rings on the necklace above his heart as Calamity busies herself with scans of the nearby flora.

She brings over two small flowers, a simple but hardy plant, yellow dandelions. He takes one and places it above his cloak and she follows.

“You think I can pull it off?” The yellow?”

She snorts in response and bumps against his shoulder, “if you get a paint job, then I get a new shell!”

“Of course, and during our trip, you can tell me how you scuffed this one so bad.”

He tugs at a point and she scoffs with false offense.

“These were all accidents! I told you before!”

“Yeah, here’s a trophy, most accident prone ghost.”

“Oh real nice Tez, SO original!”

He studies her, trophy. Trophy…

“Trophy.”

She tilts curiously, “Trophy?”

“Yeah I- it’s just been so long, and this is a… fresh start?”

She only contemplates for a fraction of a second before nodding, “Yeah- Yeah I like that, that sounds good.” She spins all the way around before spinning only her shell, a wave.

“Well, My name is Trophy, I’m your ghost! And you are gonna be a great Guardian!”

Tezra chuckles and gives a playful bow, “Well Miss Trophy, it’s a honor to meet you, my name is Tezra-14.”
