Comforting you when you're sad

Headcanons about the Genshin boys comforting you when you're feeling down for whatever reason.

I don't know what I wrote but I hope it's enjoyable nonetheless.

Characters: Venti, Lyney, Kaeya, Alhaitham, Wanderer, Kaveh

Venti

🍃 When Venti first sees the sullen expression on your face, his cheerful smile wanes into concerned curiosity as he asks what happened to make you so sad. He doesn’t want to force you to answer if you would rather not talk about it, but he can tell the sadness is weighing heavy on your heart, so he takes you home and asks one more time what happened. His words and voice are gentle, his gaze tender as he cups and strokes your cheek, hoping to make you comfortable enough to open up to him.

🍃 His gentle coaxing works to make your guard crumble and the tears you held back come streaming down your cheeks. Venti isn’t used to comforting crying people, but he hugs you, letting you cry into his shoulder while stroking your head, letting you know it’s okay to cry. He doesn’t say a word until your crying fit subsides into hiccups and sniffles, and only then does he let his voice be heard as he softly hums a lullaby he once overheard a mother sing to a crying child a long time ago.

🍃 When you’ve calmed down, Venti asks what you want to do. He'll stay with you if you would rather stay home to keep you company, however, he thinks it would do you some good to go out instead of staying cooped up in these four walls. If you agree to go outside, Venti will stroll around the city market, trying to entice you with this item or that. Do you want to check out the knickknacks at Marjorie’s? Or the new potions Timaeus is brewing? Or what about that one dish at the Good Hunter you’ve always wanted to try but never got around to? Venti would buy them all for you—his treat! He would even brave his cat allergy and stop by the Cat’s Paw so you can try one of Diona’s special concoctions. Venti acts peppy and cheery throughout the impromptu date, hoping to lift your dampened mood with his enthusiasm.

🍃 If the little date doesn’t do the trick to cheer you up, then Venti drags you outside the city walls. Leading you by the hand, Venti brings you to the open grassy plains of Windrise and beckons you to take in the world around you. Look at that beautiful blue sky and feel the warmth of the sun on your skin. Feel the wind play with your hair and hear the rustling of leaves in the great oak tree. Walk along the beach with him while smelling the salty ocean breeze and splashing water at each other as if you were little children. Climb the oak tree at Windrise and watch the squirrels and birds that call it their home scurry about in the branches. Lay in the grass and watch the starry sky with him while he strums a soothing song on his lyre that he composed just for you.

🍃 It's not a guarantee his method will work, but Venti hopes this outing can help you feel free from whatever burdens you. Despite his youthful appearance and demeanor, Venti is an old soul who has seen and experienced his fair share of suffering. He is aware that sadness sticks around far longer than joy, for such is the human condition, but he also knows that it shouldn’t overshadow everything in life. Though life can beat you down and Venti may not be able to solve your problems, there is so much more to the world than the little bubble you confine yourself to.

Lyney

🎩 Lyney’s expression lights up when he sees you from afar, but the tired look in your eyes and the weak smile you give him tell the magician you’re feeling down. He looks at you in concern and gently asks if something is wrong to make you so down. He attentively listens if you want to share the reason, and lets the conversation go if you don’t want to talk about it, but either way, he wants to distract you from your negative feelings.

🎩 Lyney has the most experience dealing with Lynette’s sour moods, so out of habit he brings you to a café and lets you order anything you want from the menu, offering to pay for it. He lets you talk if you want to vent or if you want to stay quiet, he fills the silence with funny stories about people he saw in the streets of Fontaine.

🎩 Though he appears his usual chipper self, in reality, he’s worried about you. If spending time with him isn’t enough to brighten your mood, Lyney drops his cheery façade and gently takes your hands in his. With a concerned look, he persuades you to at the very least stop bottling up your emotions and depend on him. As an older brother, he feels a lot of responsibility to care for those he loves, and that responsibility also extends to you.

🎩 Once he sees that his words touched your heart and you’re on the verge of tears, he escorts you to a private alleyway where you can cry freely without the prying eyes of passersby. Lyney hugs you close and whispers words of comfort in your ear, letting you cry into his shoulder. He has a lot of experience comforting Lynette and his siblings at the orphanage, so Lyney knows what to do to support you during your most vulnerable moment. His reassurances help calm you down, and he wipes your tears away with a handkerchief. Though it saddens him to see you so upset, he’s also grateful that you opened up to him about your feelings.

🎩 Afterward, Lyney offers to take you to play with his animal assistants. He teaches you how to feed them, and watches you play with his animals, seeing you gradually relax and give a small smile as a pigeon coos and cuddles into your hand.

🎩 Alternatively, Lyney might invite you to a private magic show; one he designed for your eyes only. The magician brings you to his room in the orphanage where the two of you can be alone and he has access to his props. With a cheeky smirk and flourish of his hand, Lyney materializes a Rainbow Rose from thin air and hands it to you, telling you to keep your eyes on him. He begins his performance, narrating it like any regular show even though you’re the sole audience member. Lyney shows off all the tricks he is certain you haven’t seen before, even mixing in some new ones he hasn’t quite perfected but included anyway. He injects a dramatic and comedic flair into the performance in the hopes of making you laugh. Once you do, Lyney grins, pleased he could make you feel better. In his mind, laughter is the best cure for sadness.

Kaeya

❄️ When Kaeya catches a glimpse of you, he is instantly able to tell you’re out of sorts. Though you smile at him, it’s weak and does a poor job of masking the sorrow in your eyes. You’re clearly not as okay as you try to seem, but Kaeya is unsure of how to help you feel better. He’s not used to comforting people. His only experiences are helping crying children find their parents during crowded festivals, and clumsily bandaging Diluc’s scrapes when they were little. But you are neither a child nor his sworn brother, so he momentarily feels lost about how to help you.

❄️ Such delicate situations are not Kaeya’s forte, but as your boyfriend, he wants to help you feel better. So, he steels himself and, in his usual teasing lilt, inquires what happened to make you look so sour. Though he sounds playful, Kaeya takes your feelings seriously, so when you look like you’re about to cry, he quickly escorts you somewhere private.

❄️ When you break down, he’s at a loss for what to do since he’s never had to comfort anyone like this before. Then, a memory surfaces in his mind of when Adelinde hugged him as a crying child, so he hesitantly wraps you up in a loose embrace, mimicking her hug the best he could. It’s a foreign feeling, holding you while you cry into his shoulder. He feels helpless just standing there with your shaking body in his arms, but he also knows it’s the best he can do for you right now, so he gently rubs your back the way Adelinde did for him all those years ago and hopes it helps you the way it did him.

❄️ Kaeya stays quiet until your crying fit subsides. He’s unsure of what to say as you slowly collect yourself, but he softly asks if you want to go drinking. Perhaps some alcohol from the Angel’s Share can help you feel better? If you agree, Kaeya takes you to the tavern where you share a drink and watch a bard perform a heroic epic about an adventurer. Alternatively, if you like cats, Kaeya brings you to the Cat’s Paw to play with the cats there and get a specialty drink from Diona (his treat). He also coerces you into a few rounds of TCG and pretends to play fairly but purposely loses to give you the wins in the hopes that the little victories would brighten your mood.

❄️ If you don’t want to drink, then Kaeya invites you over to the Dawn Winery. It feels strange to bring you to his childhood home when he hasn’t lived there in years, but he’s hoping that Adelinde could help. Ever since the head maid found out that Kaeya had a lover, she had asked for details about you, but Kaeya refused to disclose much of anything. Questions about his love life from someone he saw as a mother figure made him shy, so he avoided talking about you.

❄️ As he expected, Adelinde was overjoyed to finally meet you and she welcomed you inside just as warmly as she did Kaeya. She whips up a delicious dinner for your pair and spends the evening chatting with you, asking you about yourself and sharing all of Kaeya’s childhood stories that he never told you about, especially the funny ones much to his chagrin. The homey atmosphere and fun conversation do the trick to take your mind off of whatever bothered you, and though it came at Kaeya’s expense, he was happy to see you smiling like your usual self again.

Alhaitham

🎧 Upon your arrival home, Alhaitham’s brows pinch together in concern when he sees you looking down. He doesn’t pry into what happened, preferring for you to tell him what was wrong when you were ready to talk about it. However, if you don’t share the reason behind your sadness, and your mood doesn’t improve or grows worse, the Scribe gently calls out to you and tactfully asks what happened in a calm and gentle tone.

🎧 No matter how small the reason, Alhaitham hears you out without judgment, understanding that people can have a bouquet of reactions to situations he may not perceive to be as worthy of his concern. Even if he wouldn’t feel the same as you in your situation, he still tries to understand your point of view and help you deal with your emotions. If Alhaitham finds it applicable, he will offer advice for your situation. However, he is perceptive enough to tell when mere advice won’t help resolve your current mood, and that you require comfort. 

🎧 Alhaitham’s eyes soften, and he gently pulls you into his chest with a simple comment: “Don’t hold it all in. Cry if you need to.” Sometimes, releasing pent-up emotions is what a person needs to feel better, and the Scrobe doesn’t want you to wallow in your misery all alone. He holds you to him while you cry, placing his chin atop your head and lightly stroking your back in comfort without saying a word. 

🎧 His usually calm expression turns somber and his hold on you tightens a little as a dull ache surges through his heart. Alhaitham is not one to become influenced by the emotions of others easily, but despite what some people may think, he is not immune to others’ distress. He doesn’t like seeing others suffer, and seeing you so upset is no exception. Your suffering affects him a little more because he loves you and wants you to be at your best, so he will do everything in his power to help.

🎧 Once your crying fit subsides, Alhaitham lets you choose what you want to do next. If you want some privacy to deal with your emotions, he lets you go and occasionally checks up on you to see how you’re doing. If you say you want to stay with him, Alhaitham fetches a blanket knitted by his late grandmother that she used to wrap him up in and drapes it over you. He brews you a cup of tea before inviting you to read with him on the sofa. Should you choose to join him, Alhaitham will keep an arm around you while reading a book, not interrupting your reading but letting you feel he’s here. 

🎧 If you’re not in the mood to read, then the Scribe cuddles with you on the sofa. He lets you rest your head on his chest, running a hand along your back while holding a book with the other. If you want to hear the sound of his voice, Alhaitham will read the book to you out loud. If you prefer the silence and the sound of his heartbeat, then he stays quiet and holds you until you fall asleep, kissing your forehead once you doze off.

Wanderer

☂️ As soon as Wanderer sees you, he instantly realizes you’re feeling down. Even when you smile and say you’re fine, his perceptive nature makes it easy for him to tell you’re not. As a frank person, Wanderer prefers you to be straightforward about your feelings and wants, so it’s frustrating when you keep things to yourself like this. He frowns and asks what made you act like such a wet blanket, but despite his unfriendly scowl, he remains patient and hears you out.

☂️ What he’s not prepared for is your tears. When you start crying in the middle of your explanation, Wanderer’s frown melts into surprise and then concern before quickly pulling you into a hug. He’s not used to comforting crying people, but a part of Wanderer urges him to comfort you, so he follows his instincts. Soothing words and caresses are not his forte, but Wanderer quietly murmurs for you to stop bottling everything inside and confide in him. Cry if you need to, it’s fine. He’s got you.

☂️ Wanderer’s embrace is both tight yet careful as if he were holding something precious and fragile. The way you felt in his arms was certainly fragile. Shoulders hunched and shaking, muffling your sniffles against his shirt and soaking the fabric with your tears. Something in his chest feels tight when he sees you this broken, and it sparks a desire in him to fix whatever happened to make you this upset. Even if the cause is outside of his power to fix, Wanderer at least wants you to stop crying and go back to your annoying and yet endearing self.

☂️ When you calm down, Wanderer acts more mindful around you. He chooses his words carefully and keeps his tone soft as he tells you it’s normal to be upset in this situation, but you shouldn’t lose hope so easily. Usually, he would be blunter with his words, but with you in such a precarious state, he wants to be careful. He knows his bluntness can sometimes upset people, and the last thing he wants is to make you more upset.

☂️ Wanderer lets you choose what you want to do: do you want to stay home or come with him to a secret place? If you choose to stay home, he tells you to clean yourself up while he busies himself in the kitchen. He whips up a few delicious and hearty dishes and tells you to eat and stop moping when he serves them up. When you point out that these are all your favorite foods, he scoffs and says that it’s all he could make with the ingredients on hand, but reluctantly adds that he thought your favorite foods would help you feel better. If you thank him, he grows flustered and tells you not to because he didn’t do anything special, but it makes him feel happy inside that you appreciated his efforts.

☂️ If you choose to come with him, then Wanderer takes you to a secret place of his. It’s a little vantage point he found in the Lokapala Jungle that looks especially pretty at night, and he wanted to bring you here one day but figured today was as good a day as any. He flies up there with you and lets you take in the view. Surrounding you are various bioluminescent flora that disperse the darkness with their soft glow. Fireflies softly float about your pair as you sit on the soft grass and look up at the star-filled sky. There’s an ethereal beauty to the place that distracts you from your depressing thoughts and lifts your sunken spirits. He stays here with you for as long as you want, chatting about various topics and weaving you a flower crown to remember the occasion by.

Kaveh

🍷 When Kaveh sees your sullen demeanor, he immediately realizes you’re feeling down. He knows what it’s like to suffer from sadness and depression all alone, and he doesn’t want you to deal with such feelings on your own. Though it’s hypocritical of him, the architect wishes that you would confide in him, so gently prompts you to share what happened. Even if you tell him you’re fine, Kaveh won’t buy it but won’t pressure you to tell him.

🍷 However, he worries deeply about your mental well-being, and if he sees no improvements or even a worsening of your mental state, he takes your hand and leads you to the sofa. Kaveh cups your cheek and pleads with you to confide in him. Tell him what’s wrong because he wants to help you feel better so badly, and it frustrates him that he can’t.

🍷 His efforts pay off in making you give in and tell him what happened to make you feel this way. Even if there’s no particular reason for your sadness, Kaveh takes your feelings seriously. He wraps his arms around you in a gentle yet firm hug when you start crying, his expression solemn because seeing you in pain like this makes his heart ache. Kaveh holds you close until you let out all your sadness, whispering reassurances and kissing the top of your head. He strokes your back to comfort you, not caring that you’re soaking his shirt with tears and snot. Your well-being is far more important to him than his clothes.

🍷 Once you calm down, Kaveh dotes on you. He gets you tissues, some water, a blanket—you name it, he’ll bring it. With a gentle smile, Kaveh asks if you want to go out and do something to get your mind off whatever made you sad. If you want to stay home to recuperate from your crying fit, then Kaveh will spend the evening cuddling you and making sure you’re okay.

🍷 If you accept, Kaveh will take you out to Lambad’s Tavern. When life beat him down, he turned to heavy drinking to forget his troubles, and though he doesn’t want you to get plastered the way he did (because it’s bad for your health! He says) he offers to buy you a drink, hoping a light buzz could take the edge off your grief. Even if you don’t drink alcohol, Kaveh buys you a non-alcoholic drink and keeps you company. From his personal experience, sometimes a drink and good company are all you need to feel better, so he chats about various topics and gives advice if you need it. He also listens if you want to vent, offering a sympathetic ear and supportive words.

🍷 If you don’t want to drink, Kaveh takes you out on a stroll around Sumeru city. He surmises that a change of scenery can help take your mind off things, so he takes your hand and walks along the streets, showing you all the spots with pretty views. He comments how each location looks especially beautiful during sunset or at night when the stars are shining in the sky and offers to bring you here later if you want to see that breathtaking view. Afterward, he takes you out for a delicious meal at his expense. Kaveh is more than willing to spend his meager savings on you if it means making you happy. He won’t be able to rest easy unless you feel better, so he pulls out all the stops to try and cheer you up if only a little.

He. Is. Amazing. So many layers, so interesting...So much trauma and potential...Not to mention look how AWESOME he is generally!!! He's kind and caring towards everybody, and also carefree and mischievous!!! How can you not love him??

he’s TOO GOOD for this world- he’s just a little guy!! Like he cares for his nation and the people of Mondstadt SO MUCH it hurts when people say he doesn’t. his lore means he gets brought up almost every patch. he convinced a bunch of the most lethal women in Teyvat to have tea instead of screwing him up. he would always rather take the path of least resistance. he’s the three time best bard in Mond. he never seeks glory, only wishes to offer it to others. he was a better father to Diona than her real one five minutes into meeting her. he gives Glory whispers of what the world looks like so she can navigate. when a nun of his own church denied his identity he decided to run a heist to steal back an item that is only holy because it is his. he keeps his misery and loneliness trapped within, and does his best to bring joy to every person he meets. how can you not love him?

they say that an nation is most like their archon but is the anemo archon a god that took after the people's traits or did the people take their archons traits (the only correct answer is that venti took after old mond's people traits and it's so disgustingly sweet, he's a lil baby who cared so much that he kept old mond's wishes heard and their dream a reality — of freedom (without a god, as much as he could) where humanity leads trust. he left mondstadt because he trusted that humanity would do that right thing always but then he got betrayed by the Lawrence clan but he forgave them???! the anemo archon gave them no punishment , but mondstadt did . venti has me ugly crying

He's cool, he's mysterious, he wears an eyepatch, he has a super tragic backstory, he's good with kids, he takes care of his friends, what's not to love!!!

This is the character of the everyman. Everyone should love Kaeya because he's with you no matter what. He has the great mystery of his origins and his damage with his family and his brother, but he is with you til the end. That's what makes him so special to me

Furina:

girl deserves therapy and hugs and the best life in the WORLD because oh boy she went through a lot!!!! wouldn't pretending to be a god for 500 years with no support mess you up? and yet she still kept on going for her people!! she wanted to save her nation from a doomsday prophecy and she DID

After act 5 she deserves the world :(

She doesn't like anyone crying! She takes a step next to you, her small hand touches your back as she rubs your back. She remembers when Albedo would comfort her when Klee was sad. "Please, don't be sad. Klee is feeling sad" She says, you sniff and wipe away your tears. "Sorry, Klee..." You say, she hugs you. Thinking about more Dadsley adopting Diona

Dude becomes a fucking surveillance camera to make sure Diona is safe, cause he KNOWS there are rapists and pedophile in the Fortress that would happily take advantage of her, so he would probably have her wear some kind of tracking system out of (reasonable) paranoia.

The other inmates (minor criminals) actually start to like Diona and start treating her well, and even Wolsey decides that she gets the better welfare meals. Like, she still has to pick a straw for her meal, but she doesn't get the bad ones anymore.

Wriothesley teaching Diona how to fight in hand to hand combate while Diona teaches him or gives random tips about hunting. I like to imagine Diona accidentally punching him in the nuts during one of their spars and he collapses to the ground groaning in pain while Diona panics. Sigewienne is just laughing the background.

Wriothesley seeing Diona getting harassed by an inmate, and before he can intervene, she just straight up decks him in the balls like she did to Wrio during their last spar before walking away, and he can't help but cry from being so proud of her.

Diona would definitely help out Sigewienne in the nurses office since she's a healer in the game, and Sigewienne would teach her better ways to heal people.

I think of the barret society was still there while Diona is there too, Dougier would definitely try to kidnap Diona and torture her into following him, and when Wriothesley inevitably finds out, he'd 100% torture Dougier in a much worse way. After comforting Diona, of course.

Wriothesley would send letters back to Mondstadt to let the authorities and/or her extended family know about what's happened, and once Diluc gets wind of it, he makes plans to fly over to Fontaine to check on her (because the knights can't even be trusted to do this), only for the residents of Springvale to come to him, asking if they can come with him or deliver letters for them.

When he arrives to Fontaine, he goes to Neuvillette and asks if he can see Diona, to witch he responds that "the Fortress of Meropide works independently from the Court of Fontaine, and I would usually suggest that the person asking to give up their endeavors. But given the unique circumstance of Miss Diona's case, and the Duke's relationship to her, I can at least send a letter to inform Wriothesley about your request "

Wriothesley accepts Diluc's request and he goes down to meet with Diona in his office, but when he gets there, it's just Wriothesley and no Diona in sight. Diluc starts getting defensive about the situation and start "subtly" demanding to know where she is. To which Wriothesley would respond with "she's here and will arrive shortly. I just wanted to prepare you in case she has a fit and runs out, considering how negatively she's talked about you."

Diona eventually comes in after Diluc and Wriothesley talk for a few minutes, and she's angry and defensive at first, but eventually apologizes about how she treated and talked to him, and Diluc says that he doesn't mind and understands why she said the things she did.

After the awkward greetings, Diona starts asking about Mondstadt and how her friends and extended family are doing, and Diluc gives honest replies, relieved that she seems to be at least safe within the Fortress.

Diluc hands over the small bag of letters from the residents of Springvale to Diona before leaving and waving goodbye, and Diona honestly starts to break down crying after he leaves from all the people that wrote to her. Wriothesley hugs and comforts her about it, happy that she has people who care about her (despite her shitty dad.)

Diluc and Wriothesley would definitely keep in contact, mostly to give Diluc updates about Diona, but also to try to get to know each other better. Wriothesley sends him tea from time to time, and Diluc send him grape juice.

Diona would definitely sneak past her curfew (cause Wriothesley would absolutely have one for her) just to see him fight in the Pankration Ring and kick serious ass. During one particularly challenging fight, he'd get hurt pretty bad, almost getting knocked out, and Diona screams to him "GET UP AND KICK HIS ASS, DAD!" without realizing it. After the fight, Wriothesley is stuck between scolding her for staying out late and crushing her in affection for calling him dad.

An Outing With The Kids (Klee, Says, Diona, and Qiqi with a Platonic! Parent-Like Reader)

This. This is so cute. I am super proud of this piece. It’s also 3 times longer than what I usually write XD the idea just took me away. So here it is!! The long awaited platonic-parent story. 

Sayu was visiting Mondstat, for the first time in a long time. She was perhaps too young the first time, because it didn’t seem like she remembered much of anything. You had talked to the priestess in Inazuma, and she entrusted you with keeping her safe while here. You had no problem with this whatsoever, you loved the little girl. She could be very sweet. A little mischievous sometimes, but sweet regardless.

She wanted to see anything and everything. It was fun that all of the regions in Teyvat could be so similar, but so different. Mondstat was a far cry from Inazuma, and Liyue was different in its own right as well. Sumeru was gorgeous, but it was much easier to get straight up lost. Without knowledge of the region, you could be walking for hours with no idea where you were. So in that way, you were thankful Sayu wanted to visit Mondstat. Now rather she really wanted to see it, or just wanted to see you, was up in the air.

“I wanna see…the Knight’s place.” She said, swinging her arms as she walked next to you. It was so cute to see, she acted very mature sometimes, but you knew she just wanted to be a little kid. Who were you to stop her?

“Oh! The Knights of Favonius headquarters? I can take you there! You might like Jean, but she can be pretty busy.” You headed in that direction, making sure she was right by your side, and continued. “She has an anemo vision as well!” You smiled at her, seeing the smile on her face as well.

She seemed even more excited than before, and you found yourself letting out a small laugh under your breath. “I can’t promise we can talk to her for long, but I think it would be nice for you to see her. I’d like to see her too, it’s been a while.” You stated, wondering just how long it had been since you’d seen the acting grandmaster herself. You had been traveling so much recently, so it had to have been a hot minute.

It didn’t take long to arrive, since most of the main city of Mondstat was relatively close together. Sayu seemed like she was bouncing in place, excited to meet the person you’d told her about. Walking in the door, that excitement only doubled. You heard a voice you recognized, and knocked on the door and confirmed that feeling.

“Y/N!” Klee yelled, and ran up and hugged you. “I missed you!” She looked up at you with puppy eyes, and you raised an eyebrow, placing a finger to your head, looking deep in thought.

“Now…did I miss Klee?” It was teasing and she knew it, but her eyes watered anyway, and you remedied the situation by picking her up, hugging her close. “I sure did! I missed Klee too!” You gave her a little spin in the air, and she giggled happily.

You realized where you were once more, at the clearing on Jean’s throat. However she didn’t seem upset in the slightest. She loved to see how good your relationship with the kids in town was. If you thought she was upset before, seeing that big smile on her face made you think differently.

“Oh?” Jean said, “Who’s this?” She leaned down a bit and looked at Sayu. Jean was also fantastic with kids, but more so when she wasn’t working. “It’s nice to meet you! I’m Jean, the acting grandmaster of the Knights of Favonius.”

Sayu just hid behind you, clinging to the back of your shirt and peeking out around your side. With how much excitement she had before, it certainly disappeared seeing her in person now. She could be a very shy child, and she was very far from home which probably didn’t help.

Jean respected that Sayu was nervous, and changed topics. “As for the matter at hand…Klee has been saying she wants to see the play in Liyue. I don’t know how she heard about it, but she’s been trying to go there for some time now.” She sighed, “I wanted to find someone to escort her, so you came at the perfect time. If you wouldn’t mind, I’d like you to take her there.”

Klee hugged you even closer, wrapping her arms around you. “Please, please PLEEEEEEEASE TAKE ME TO SEE YUN JIN IN HER PLAY THING!” She pulled back only to look at you closely, with those adoring puppy dog eyes she knew always worked on you.

You smiled at her, and looked over to Sayu, “Well. It’s up to her. She’s my guest right now.” It was hard to see Sayu past Klee, who was clinging to you as if you’d ever drop her…

“Play…sounds nice.” And she hid fully behind you once more. “We have plays in Inazuma…I wanna see other place’s plays.” It was almost a whisper, but you heard her clearly. It brought a smile to your face, as Klee cheered in excitement.

You didn’t make it past the Cat’s Tail, when Diona came running up. “What are we doing today? Going somewhere without me?” And she pouted. But the pout quickly turned into a smile, seeing Klee and Sayu now holding hands. Supposedly so one didn’t get lost.

“We’re heading to Liyue,” You started, “We’re going to explore and see the town. Maybe watch a play while we’re there.” Her eyes quickly turned to stars, if it were even possible, “You’re more than welcome to come if it’s alright with these two!”

You looked back to see them share a serious glance, before looking at Diona and nodding. It made all three even more excited, and they smiled at each other. Adding another one of the kids to your journey. It would be nice, no responsibilities for a while, allowing the kids to just be…kids.

The journey was long, and all the way from Mondstat to Liyue was filled with conversation, each child growing close to the other. It warmed your heart, and you loved it to the core, that they trusted you enough to take care of them. You always would, even if you were apart for a while. They may as well be yours at this point. You considered them as if they were adopted kids. And seeing them get along? It was a truly peaceful moment.

You reached Liyue after a while, and Klee almost ran off, but Sayu pulled her back. They looked in awe at everything, and their eyes shone bright with excitement at the new area. Something told you that after this…they might all be begging you to bring them back there. But it brought another question to mind, while you were here with these kids.

What was Qiqi doing? While she may be older than those kids in some ways, it made you wonder how long it had been since she’s played with other kids. Making up your mind, you said “Let’s head to the pharmacy! I have someone I want you three to meet!” And you smiled, as they followed you to your destination.

Before you knew it, you were there. The kids looked around, and you leaned over the counter, knowing Qiqi was usually behind there. She was just so small. Hard to see if you didn’t know. But you were used to it by now. “Qiqi?”

Confirming your assumption, you saw the little head with purple hair lean up to see you. She gave the smallest of smiles, which you were used to. “Y/n?” She said in her usual soft voice.

You turned to see the other three girls, who all practically jumped on the counter to see who you were referring to. Qiqi looked a bit surprised, and the other three looked intrigued. “Girls, this is Qiqi! Qiqi,” You pointed to each girl as you said their names, “Klee, Diona, and Sayu!”

Before Qiqi could say anything back, Klee’s stomach rumbled. She looked surprised by the noise, and then feigned, falling towards you. She looked up, and had those…same…little pleading eyes. “Y/n…I want ice cream.”

It was a silly response, and you muttered, “I don’t think that will fill you up…” And you sweat dropped a bit. You patted her head, and pondered. There were many good places to eat while you were in Liyue. You were thinking of the places when you heard Qiqi’s quiet voice.

“Ice cream…Qiqi’s never had ice cream.” Now it was your turn to be surprised. She had plenty of opportunities, there were often ice cream sellers in most regions. Especially restaurants. You had to wonder…why Baizhu never got her any.

The three girls made noises of shock, and Klee jumped up on the counter. At least…as best she could. She was trying desperately to hold herself on it. Legs kicking and dangling bellow, and arms pulling all of the weight they could so she could look at Qiqi. “We’ll get you ice cream. Promise!”

Diona put her hands on her hips, “But if she hasn’t had it before…” She placed her hand to the side of her head for dramatic effect, “How will we know which flavor to get?” She tilted her head and looked at Qiqi, “Is there anything you DON’T like?”

Klee let herself fall back to the ground, and grabbed your hand, looking at Sayu and Diona, before signaling them to follow. “I got a plan!” She dragged you off, and Sayu plus Diona followed right behind, leaving a very confused Qiqi in the dust.

Klee got down the steps from the pharmacy, and stopped. “I…don’t know where to get ice cream.” She looked down at the ground and kicked a couple times. She did that a lot, and it was always cute.

The response and action made you let out a louder laugh. “Oh hun…this way.” You had to wipe a tear from your eye, you laughed so hard. The fact she was so willing and compassionate for wanting to do something as simple as get a stranger ice cream…it was so kind. So mature. Kind of. She could be mature. When she wanted to be.

You led the girls to the ice cream stand. The man smiled at you, and gave a general price range for the ice creams. Nodding, you showed the girls they could get whatever they wanted.

Klee answers first, with a “COTTON CANDY AND GUMMY BEARS AND WORMS AND CHOCOLATE CHIPS!” To which it seemed everyone stared in shock briefly before smiling. Mature? Maybe sometimes. But not right now. Right now, she was just your average little girl with way too big of a sweet tooth.

“Just…don’t tell your brother I let you have that.” She nodded in response, but you knew she wasn’t going to tell him. You and her knew how to keep secrets. But…even so…he always seemed to know something was off. Most he did was sigh, but you were more inclined to not risk anything with him.

Sayu was next, not even looking at the menu and arrangement of different flavors of ice cream. “Mint chocolate chip…please.” She looked away from the man, and he nodded, not that she saw it. Back to shy-Sayu.

Diona’s was quick and easy, just vanilla. Then the real problem arose. “What flavor should we get Qiqi?” You asked, letting the girls decide. That was apparently the wrong decision…or so says your wallet.

Klee looked very determined, and somewhat serious when she said “One of each.” And held out her hand, determined to give him YOUR money, herself. “P-Please!” At least she was being polite. Somewhat.

“Klee…there’s 10 flavors. We can’t carry all that.” You tried to reason, but she only thought for a brief moment before responding. Ah, what it was to have children. They may not be your own, but you were proud of them anyway. However you did have to try and use logic with them.

“Easy! One of each! But two scoops on each one.” She crossed her arms as he made her ice cream, and you could see the man fighting a laugh. “Wait…” She counted everyone’s hands. “We’re one hand short…” She pointed back at the ice cream, as if she just solved world hunger, “Easy again! We let Qiqi try Diona’s vanilla ice cream so she can try every flavor.”

“HEY!” She yelled, “Why does it have to be my ice cream?” She took the ice cream from the man with a small “thank you” before turning back to Klee, hiding the ice cream behind her hand, despite everyone knowing she had it.

In the background, the man continued to make ice cream. It was his job, but he was trying so…so hard not to laugh. Even more so when he saw your exasperated face. “Klee…Qiqi can try my ice cream. It’s okay.” You turned to the main with an apologetic expression. “One of each…five on each scoop. All…all different ones.”

Klee ignored everything for a moment, enjoying her ice cream. At this rate, it would be gone before the man even finished making all of your ice cream. “Klee! Be careful you’ll get brain freeze!” You held your 4 scoops of ice cream in the cones, and had the girls grab the extra ones. “Now come on! We gotta see Qiqi before all this ice cream melts!” You smiled, having handed the man money a long time ago.

The girls let out some cheers, and you all ran to the pharmacy. Luckily it was a cooler day, and it was pretty close. Baizhu was there when you arrived, and he looked confused at all of the children with ice cream…and you…also with ice cream. “Well now, what do we have here?” He chuckled.

“Qiqi’s never had ice cream before!” Diona stated. She walked over to the counter and peeked her head around. “Are you gonna work all day?” She raised an eyebrow, and reached the ice cream out for Qiqi.

Qiqi looked to Baizhu, and he smiled, patting her head. “Go on. Take the rest of the day off. Hang out, make friends. Just be careful.” He winked, and moved to stand behind the counter, taking over the role from Qiqi.

You didn’t have to ask her twice. She ran excitedly around the counter and gestured for you all to follow her out of the shop, before Baizhu changed his mind. “Sit?” She asked, not always one for many words.

You thought for a second, and smiled. “I know just the place.” It would be perfect. To your knowledge, none of the girls had ever gone there. Not even Qiqi, who lives here. There really was no better place.

You had to pull a few strings, but you were here. The look on the girl’s faces was more than worth it when they got the perfect view of all of Liyue. Upon the edge of the Jade Chamber. It was a mixture of intrigue and awe on their faces. Qiqi knew of the Jade Chamber, but she had never been there. How could she? Working for Baizhu and rarely doing much outside of that didn’t leave much room for something like that.

The other three were beaming, as you all ate your ice cream together, even if a good bit of it had melted down your arms. There was but a moment of silence, before there were cries of joy as well as random banter. They fought over which ice cream flavor they’d bet Qiqi liked most. Before long, she had tried each and every one of them.

“So Qiqi…what’s the verdict?” You asked, looking at her primarily but seeing the other three waiting in anticipation in the background. She had tried them all, and looked deep in thought. It took her several moments to speak on her decision as she made up her mind.

“I like…all of them.” The three girls looked shocked, and you couldn’t help but laugh. Klee, Sayu, and Diona all burst into arguments. Sayu mostly stayed quiet, and Klee looked distressed as Diona all but screamed her protest.

“Come on! You have to pick a favorite! We all have one!” She groaned, and you could see the irritation clearly on her face. For some reason, she was taking this very…very seriously. What did you expect? She was still a child. However her look of irritation scared Klee and Sayu, while Qiqi seemed unfazed by it.

Qiqi tilted her head ever so slightly, “Um…then…my favorite…is vanilla.” Her face didn’t give anything away to the girls who didn’t know her well. But you? You knew. She picked that because Diona asked. It made you laugh a little bit, but you tried to hold it in. She didn’t want a confrontation, and she probably saw Diona as more of a threat considering the other two were much more tame.

Diona hopped up, and dropped her ice cream over the edge. She didn’t seem to care all that much. “See! I knew it!” She plopped back down next to Qiqi and put an arm around her shoulder. Qiqi leaned away slightly, but otherwise didn’t protest. “You have good taste! The best if I do say so myself!” She put a hand over her heart and had that glimmer in her eye.

The laughter you were holding in? Yeah. You couldn’t hold it in any longer. It was seemingly sudden, and it caused some of the people working at the Jade Chamber to look at you oddly. The girls looked equally surprised, and found themselves laughing with you after a moment.

Klee jumped up after your bouts of laughter, and looked mortified. “Y/N!” She yelled. “I FORGOT TO TELL YOU THANK YOU! THANK YOU FOR THE ICE CREAM AND TAKING US HERE!” She was being loud again, but this time the workers smiled and continued on.

Sayu chimed in next, “Yeah…thank you.” She cuddled closer to your side. “And…I love you.” It was almost hard for her to say, but it meant the world and more to you. She hid her face in your side, and curled up on your lap as she usually did in moments like this. She’d fall asleep sooner rather than later, lying there.

This caused Klee to jump up again and scream that she loved you, going to your side and pulling you into a hug. She was much more affectionate than any of the others, not caring as much of what people think of her. She giggled and smiled, resting a head on your arm, not quite tall enough to reach your shoulder itself.

Diona scoffed, and smirked at you. “I suppose you’ve earned my love.” And she went to your side, not being as affectionate. She sat, and leaned her arm against yours. It was small…to some. But bigger than you could say. It wasn’t often she’d be so openly “lovey-dovey” with you. But perhaps she was feeling slightly jealous of the attention the other girls gave.

Qiqi looked to the ground, and whispered just loud enough for you to hear. “Love…do I…love? Can I love?” She looked at you, then at the girls around you. “Maybe…” She whispered, moving behind you. She clearly didn’t know what she was doing, but she patted your head a couple times. Then decided to do something you didn’t expect from her.

She leaned forward, and rested her head on top of yours, placing her arms around you. “I…I think I love you.” She let a tear or two slip, now realizing she could do things others did. She could be a child, she could express love. She could find brief moments…of happiness. And above all, she could love.

You loved all of them dearly. This moment meant so much to you, to bring the girls you considered daughters together. Make an odd little family. Each girl was unique, and so unlike each other. What did you do to deserve all their love?

Rather you felt you earned it or not, you whispered back an “I love you too.” You knew…you would do anything for these girls. You had known for a long time. That you wanted to see them grow up. Be a part of their lives. And protect them from anything that came their way. You hoped they knew that too, and valued your love as your valued theirs. Things…were going to be okay, you thought as you looked up to the clouds in the sky. Yeah…things were going to be just fine.

I actually had to reread what that said because I thought you were telling me to think of a fictional animal or something at first! XD

But Morris, Adam, and Dion seem like they could be a fun trio together!

I just love the idea of Adam resting his chin on Dion's head while Dion hugs Morris from behind. Just like a little hug train as they talk. Dion would be talking smack while the other two listen, Morris maybe talking smack as well while Adam plays devil's advocate.

Adam just infodumping about history to Dion and Morris, especially to Dion who ends up taking an interest in Psychonaut history and just asking a ton of clarifying questions because he's been told a lot of myths and misconceptions over time.

Morris helping Adam set up interview questions and stuff so that they can get the history of the Aquatos, which Dion helps set up and gets his family to sit down and actually do (which is harder for the younger kids who want to play or Donatella and Augustus who keep getting up to show historical acts instead of actually answering questions).

Even when Dion is being interviewed to give his own side of the story he just ends up flirting more with Morris and Adam instead of answering the questions. By the time Morris goes back to listen to the recording he realizes that he has a TON of editing to do now lol. He keeps the flirting and banter saved to another file/cassette (whatever he is using) to listen to later.

Also like... I don't know why, it's just in the back of my head. But transfem Dion is something I can see happening with this couple. Like Dion deciding to go by Diona (at least at first) and Adam and Morris being so supportive of her and help her come out to the Aquatos (who all obviously support Diona).

But even if transfem Dion doesn't happen, all three of them are just really chill with each other at times but also eager to try and to learn new things.

Lily jumped off the bench and went to hug her dad's leg and give him a stern look with a small sulk "papa~! You can't leave us here~! I want to see mama and let my new friends and family meet her too~!" She declared with clear mind of her own desire.

The younger artist was stunned for a moment before he chuckled quietly "okay then~, but you have to help cool our saviour here, okay~?" He asked patting her head gently, she nodded with her big smile returned to shine on her face.

"I will~! Also~, I will challenge the Master general in the TCG cards later when he can~! And you too~! And I'll tell Diona that the general is the one who taught me how to play the second time too~!" She said with excitement all of her plans for the up coming meetings, which earned a giggle from the father.

“Diona?” Cyno asked, tilting his head.

“She’s a bartender at the Cat’s Tail Tavern in Mondstadt, which also happens to be the TCG center back home,” Albedo explained. “You might have seen her when you were there for the Windblume Festival. A young girl with pink hair, cat ears and a tail?”

“Ah, her. Yes, I remember now. She was a bit standoffish at first, but she seemed to warm up to me rather quickly when I told her I was there for cards and not drinks.”

“Yeah, that sounds like her alright,” said Nigredo.

“As for your question, Vincent,” Cyno said, turning to the young researcher, “Aaru Village has been rather peaceful lately. And with the Dendro Archon’s recent efforts to re-establish relations between the Akademiya and the Eremites, passage between the rainforest and the desert is easier than it has been for centuries.”

Even trying to get Zhongli in his dragon form to feel his fluff too. If Venti let’s them, they’re going to pet his wings. Gorou’s not safe either he’s getting affection too. And also Kaeya because of the feather boa (I’m pretty sure that’s what it is) he wears. Diona and Sucrose because yes, Yae Miko of course (fox or human form) Childe in any form because you gotta admit his hair looks soft, and Albedo because his hair also looks soft. Even the standard enemies in all nations including rift hounds. Anything soft and/or cute (to reader at least) gets pet

Dvalin It's a big cuddly one. Every time the reader gets the chance to pay a visit to Decarabian's tower, Dvalin's heart yearns for your gentle caresses. People usually avoid him because he's a dragon, but your mere presence is enough for him. 

I want to believe that the Creator essence can cure from the Erosion, so when Azhdaha first met reader, he was grateful to you after being saved from his fate. Even so, he was quite confused about your secret meeting with this creature. After all, didn't Morax want your protection? In any case, he's quite fine with the idea of you gifting him with your presence, but he's still quite embarrassed. He's not used to someone giving him hugs or petting him on his head. He's not complaining, but he's new to this...

Zhongli would be quite perplexed the first time. He's used to people praising him, worshipping him, or even fearing him! But petting him? That's quite new. Well, the confusion will not stand for long. Give him just a few minutes and he'll be a big puppy in your hands. Stop for even one second and he'll start to ask you the reason, and no matter what, he'll expect this treatment every day from now. You've created a monster, a cuddling monster, but still... 

Bold of you assume that if it was even your idea, it was Venti's in the moment that you confessed to him that you love fluffy things. You didn't even finish your sentence before he spread his big fluffy wings, ready to receive your love. Please, give him your love. He wants nothing else.

Poor Gorou, he's already fed up with the fact that everybody wants to pat his hears, but now you too? Okay, you're the creator, and maybe he can make some exceptions... but not in front of his man! He's still got his pride! You'll have to wait for him to come back after work, and only then will he receive your petting. You'll be in agonizing pain, and he'll feel awful for not letting his creator indulge in their hobby, but you'll respect his wishes...

Kaeya's quite a sly one. It may seem like an innocent thing, but for him, it's the best way to spend some time with you! He'll use his office, since he wants to have some privacy from everyone, letting you sit on his lap and only then pet his feather boa. It's the best break he can get from his work. After all, it's not an everyday thing that the creator themself come to you, asking to touch some part of your clothing. He'll keep this thing for himself. The last thing he wants is to hear Jean complain about this.

Diona, sweet Diona... she'll make a fuss the first time, but after that, she's seeing the stars. Prepare for a loud purr session, and it's not like she enjoys it! , she's doing this because it's her duty! After all, who is she to go against the care of the Creator?

The first time, Sucrose was pretty sure that she had angered you for some reason. She believed it... until you reached for her head and started patting her hears.  Only after that, your concentrated face turn into a happy smile. You left her in total confusion. Albedo was the one that finally gave her the right answer, explaining that their beloved creator liked fluffy things... like his hair. This information left Sucrose with an agape mouth, and she's started to connect a few points. AETHER quickly pulls you into a hug, stroking your head while a jumble of questions spill out of his mouth. if you're unwilling to answer, he doesn't pressure you, but he remains embracing you until you calm down.

ALBEDO envelops you in a warm hug, his blonde strands of hair tickling the top of your head. "i don't know why you're upset..." he murmurs while entwining his hands with yours, "but studies have shown hugs can make people feel better, and that's what i want for you."

AMBER freaks out, cupping your face with her gloved hands and pressing her forehead against yours to remind you that she's always there for you. she even lets you cuddle baron bunny, although she pretends to be upset later that you like the stuffed toy more than her.

AYAKA rarely deals with outbursts like this as the representative of the kamisato clan, so she's not entirely sure what to do. however, she sits beside you gracefully, holding your hand tightly and squeezing it every few minutes as a wordless reassurance that she is there for you.

lightning flashes, thunder booms and the sky begins to darken when BAAL sees you like this. the electro archon wants nothing more than to strike down those who hurt you, but she won't leave your side until there's a smile on your face once more - there's no point in eternity without you.

BARBARA is wonderful at consoling you, and she hugs you warmly before beginning to sing a gentle song, petting your head as you lay in her lap. her voice is mellifluous and comforting, and you drift off to sleep as she presses a kiss on your head, reminding you that tomorrow will be a better day.

at first, BEIDOU may not realise how seriously sad you are, inviting you to come drown your sorrows in some drinks with her. but after noticing how you decline, she crouches beside you and tells you that, "there's no treasure in the sea a pirate could find that's more precious than you are to me."

BENNETT worries that his bad luck has brought you misfortune, but when you manage to mumble out that it isn't his fault, he still sticks right by you. while he's too nervous to touch you and make things worse, he grins widely at you and thanks you for staying with him even when things were rough - "you're the best member of benny's adventure team, and my good luck charm!"

upon seeing you, CHILDE'S mind instantly flashes to every single one of his enemies that could have hurt you, and while he dashes to wrap you in a hug, his thoughts rush to ways to murder those who dared to hurt you. his chin balances on top of your head while his long arms surround you, keeping you warm and seemingly blocking out all your negativity.

CHONGYUN gets very worried, and though he isn't the best at comforting, he lets you bury your head in his shoulder and cry your eyes out. for once, the proximity doesn't make him heat up, because he's far too concerned for you to worry about that. he also offers you an icy popsicle, because that's how he usually cheers himself up, and he wants you to be happy again.

DAINSLEIF panics, but he doesn't show it as he dashes to your side like a heroic knight. he isn't sure how to handle situations like this, so he awkwardly pats your back and says, "you're strong enough to get through this. i... may not believe in gods, but i have faith in you." his starry coat swirls around you both like a blanket, and even though the gestures of comfort feel alien to him, he hopes you know he's trying his best.

DILUC trembles, hand reaching for his vision as white-hot anger rushes through him. but he recalls that you're the priority, and wraps his arms around you. the scent of his cologne surrounds you, and you bury your head in his chest - he doesn't mind when you wet his shirt, and he murmurs a soft "i love you," in your ear as a caring reminder.

in DIONA'S mind, a million alarm bells are going off, and her ears prick up as she hisses under her breath at the thought of someone harming you. to you directly, however, she mixes your favourite drink and offers it to you, muttering, "i hope you like the drink... please feel better soon. though it's not like i care!"

EULA runs to your side, elegance forgotten in the fear clouding her mind that something has happened to you. she isn't very keen on physical affection due to her upbringing as a noble, but now she throws away her hesitation and hugs you while vowing, "i will exact vengeance on whoever hurt you!"

FISCHL cannot find it in her to burst into a monologue when she sees your huddled figure. her gloved hand traces your cheek, and trails a stroke down your hair. oz perches on your shoulder, his ticklish feathers ruffling your cheek, and when you look up at her, the prinzessin offers you a small smile, "as royalty, you're my favourite subject."

GANYU drops all the paperwork she's been carrying, the sheets flying into the air like snow. she couldn't care less about them though, as she plops down beside you, tilting your face to hers with worry glimmering in her eyes. realising you're not hurt, she exhales a sigh of relief and hugs you with a whisper, "i'm here for you."

GOROU is by your side in the blink of an eye, a low growl escaping his throat as he scans your surroundings. his ears are flattened, and his arms are thrust protectively around you. upon sensing the lack of danger, he nuzzles into your cheek, his hair caressing your cheek - he doesn't need words to let you know he loves you.

HU TAO is actually very good at comforting you, though her playful demeanor makes her seem like the opposite. she lets you cry till it feels like your tear ducts are dry, and then she starts cracking jokes. they're stupid, and half don't even make sense, but they put a smile on your face, and when she notices your expression, she grins, "there you are."

JEAN isn't the dandelion knight and acting grandmaster for no reason, she's immediately beside you, uttering sweet words which sound like honey. barely a minute passes and she's already mopped up your tears and helped you calm down with soothing advice and reminders. she even lets you cry onto her shoulder if you'd like, without a word of complaint even when her uniform sleeve is stained with tears.

KAZUHA hugs you tightly, the type of hug which feels like he's never going to let you go, the type of hug which feels like you're going to be okay, that things will get better. even his fountain of poetic speak dries up now as he pulls you impossibly closer, "you will be okay, and you'll come out of this stronger than before."

KAEYA can relate all too well to your predicament, he sees himself in your tears and shaking figure. so, he held you the way he's always wanted to be held, with your head in the crook of his neck as you sob quietly. for once, he doesn't make any sly, flirty comments, he stays silent as you cry. but once you've calmed down, he teases you by using his vision to make his hands, which are still holding you, freezing cold.

while KEQING may primarily be a busy woman in charge of running the nation, that doesn't mean she doesn't know how to handle emotional issues. she sits beside you, one hand sliding to hold yours as she starts telling you about her day to get your mind off the problem. it works, and when you've calmed down, she's the perfect person to get advice from about your troubles.

KLEE is quite confused, but she does her best to make you feel better. "hey, would you like a hug? my mom always says those help put a smile on anybody's face! or maybe we could go fishblasting? that definitely makes klee smile! klee wants you to smile again, so let's go!"

a small hydro fish wiggles in front of your nose, and you already know that KOKOMI is in the room with you. as she kneels down beside you, her hand cups your cheek, and her sea blue eyes, shining with concern, meet yours. a small smile curves her lips, "you're so strong, you know that? i'm proud of you."

LISA pulls you into a hug, placing her chin on your head as she rubs comforting circles onto your back. she never says a word as you sob into her torso, but once you've cooled down, electro energy begins to fizz around her fingers, "so, who did this to you?"

LUMINE silently sits beside you, one arm wrapping around your shoulder to pull you close, letting you lean against her for stability as you cry your eyes out. it's not much, but she doesn't move, and honestly that helps remind you that she isn't going to leave you alone. she's also a very good listener to vent to, as she will never interrupt, and only offer advice if asked to.

when MIKO caught you, you thought she would laugh at you. however, her reaction was the polar opposite, as she made you a cup of tea and sat beside you before beginning to read a book. once your sniffles had quietened down, she turned to you, "now, would you like to talk about it? i've got the next millenium to listen."

MONA is quite awkward in terms of dealing with people, distancing herself from people due to her status as an honourable astrologer didn't do much for her social skills. however, with you, she crouches beside you and pats your head, "are you okay?" she's even kind enough to spend her hard-earned money on you, and she's always strapped for cash, "hey, i just got some money. would you like to go out and eat? my treat."

NINGGUANG may be the tianquan, but you will always come first, you're just that important to her. when she sees you crying, she tilts your face upwards and swipes her thumb across your cheek to dry your tears. she then proceeds to hug you and pat your back, "you know you can tell me anything, right? also if you want anything that might make you feel better, just say the word and i'll buy it."

NOELLE sits down beside you, placing the basket of laundry she was carrying on her other side. she hugs you, and the warmth you feel chases away your last remnants of sadness. it's even better when she says she'll cook your favourite dish to help cheer you up, noelle would do anything if it meant you would feel better.

QIQI has zero clue what to do, so she crouches beside you and just... stares at you for a few minutes. however, the next moment, she extends one hand and pets your head, "qiqi wants y/n to smile. come, qiqi will take y/n to look at finches. finches make qiqi happy. qiqi hopes they make y/n happy too."

RAZOR nuzzles into your cheek and neck, his fuzzy hair and hood tickling you and prompting a laugh to escape your lips. he looks up at you inquisitively, tilting his head before saying, "y/n, don't be sad. razor... go hunt meat for y/n. y/n is razor lupical." razor hopes you can understand what he's trying to tell you, because he wants to help you in any way he can.

although distant to everyone else, ROSARIA actually pats your back and stays beside you while you cry. she doesn't say anything, because she isn't that good with comforting words unlike all the other nuns, but she stays. and her unmoving presence is enough to send you into tears all over again, because she mutters a promise to you, "i won't leave, no matter what."

SARA is definitely not the best at displaying affection, but for you, she always puts in as much affection as she can. when she sees you crying, anger causes her to clench her fist, but she hides it and rushes to your side to give you a warm hug, pressing her cheek against yours, "you're not alone, okay?"

SAYU is clueless as to what to do to comfort someone, so instead she just grabs your hands and says, "come on, let's go have a nap. people always think clearer after they sleep on it." she doesn't mean to be blunt, she just genuinely thinks that sleeping will help you think of other solutions to your problems.

SCARAMOUCHE starts cursing loudly and threatening murder at the top of his voice, it's likely that people on the other side of teyvat could hear him. after proclaiming how he's going to murder whoever did this to you, he rushes to your side and hugs you tightly. it's a hug which conveys everything he can't say out loud, 'i hope you're okay.'

SUCROSE is very distressed, as she plops beside you and starts fidgeting with her fingers while her other hand massages repetitive motions onto your back. after a minute, your sobbing is unbearable for her, because she hates you being sad, so she tries to distract you by talking about alchemy. spoiler alert, it works, but the combination of her voice and the rhythm of her massage caused you to fall asleep in her lap.

THOMA is the number one fixer in inazuma, and this applies to emotional problems too. in the snap of a finger, he's prepared your favourite food, a tissue box and his attention, in case you'd like to rant to him. he's always willing to listen, and most of the time his advice is actually quite good, and he also gives great hugs.

when VENTI sees you sad, his archon side takes over. instead of just being mischievous, he also becomes more understanding and caring. he lets you lie on his lap, humming the melody to your favourite song softly while his hands stroke your head. when you've calmed down, he's also skilled at making silly faces to try and get you to laugh.

XIANGLING disappears after shoving guoba in your arms and telling you he's great for hugging when you're sad. a minute later, though, she reappears with a brand new plate of your favourite food, whipped up by her specially for you. she'll feed you so that you're too busy eating to worry about crying, and soon enough your sadness is chased away by the amount of love she adds into her cooking.

XIAO is definitely not the best at dealing with emotional situations, but he's been reading up on how to interact with mortals. so when he sees you like this, his first instinct is to hug you, which he does. when you sob into his shoulder, he's not sure what to do, so he pets your head before whispering so softly you can barely hear it, "you've defeated far worse things than this, and you will continue to be the strongest mortal i know. i believe in you." he also polishes his polearm in case he needs to break his 'no harming mortals' rule.

XINGQIU lets you lean on his shoulder and cry, and he also keeps one arm around your torso as a symbol of how much he cares for you. with his other hand, he reads his current favourite novel out loud to you, and if you're lucky, he'll even go off on a tangent about how he would have written this scene if he was the author, as well as explain almost every scene in painstaking detail. by the time he's done, your head will be spinning so much you won't have any energy to waste on being sad.

XINYAN hugs you and strokes your back as you sob. she's moderately hot thanks to her pyro vision, so a hug from her is the definition of a warm hug. she even strums her guitar while singing the lyrics to your favourite song softly, like an acoustic cover of it which helps you relax and realise that maybe your problems weren't as big as they first seemed.

YANFEI lets you lie down in her lap, gazing up at her with tears glittering in your eyes. whether or not you're still sobbing, yanfei holds your hands with a reassuring smile and starts narrating her day, going into detail about all the interesting cases she's done before. and if she sees you getting sleepy, tired after all that crying, she starts reciting liyuean law, which of course sends you off to dreamland in seconds.

YOIMIYA is full of energy, but when she sees you sad it's almost like all that energy got zapped out of her in a second. she's by your side immediately, cupping your cheeks and checking you all over to see if you're hurt while speaking a million sentences a minute. it would be overwhelming if it wasn't just her way of showing how worried she is for you. that night, you can be sure yoimiya releases a custom firework just for you, in the shape of a smiley face in your favourite colour.

ZHONGLI may have lived for centuries, but as a mortal he is at a loss for what to do in a situation like this. however, he tries his best, and lets you lie on him wherever you choose; be it his shoulder, lap or chest. he's very attentive to what you want, so if you want a tissue he'll fetch it immediately, and he does anything you want until you calm down. it's adorable to see, honestly.

hi! this was my first time writing drabbles of this magnitude for this many characters, and it took about 3 hours T_T regardless, i hope that this is a fic which helps cheer you up, and that you revisit it whenever you're feeling sad, bc that was the whole point of me writing it - i wanted a fic which catered to almost the entire genshinblr community :)

Sagau! Imposter! Reader who accidentally befriends all the children in game. (Ps. Text colors are based off thier vision colors)

After getting chased out of Mondstat, they end up south of the city near a river and just hear a loud BOOM. Then this little blur of red and blonde running past them. Only for the blur to turn around and run up to them. Instead of instantly calling out her name, they let Klee introduce herself. They didn't want to freakout the kiddo, now do they?

"Hello I'm Klee!! And this is Dodoco!!! Do you wanna go fish blasting with us? My Jumpty Dumpty's make it really easy to catch a looooot of fishies!"

Seeing how destructive Klee could be reader tells Klee if she made smaller, less powerful bombs, she'd be able to go fish blasting more often without Jean knowing (little demon in the making >:)). 

Of course if Klee trust you then Albedo will as well. Although she is a child, he still trust her judgment in people.

Klee will also bring reader to Wolvendom to meet Razor! Because "Oh it's okay!! Big brother Razor doesn't like the city either!!" That or he hasn't ever seen the creators likeness in statues and books.

After meeting Klee, she brought Diona to meet reader, saying "Oh, oh! They're really nice! Even the slimes like them!" Diona has heard a lot about the 'imposter', but that was mostly from drunken adults! Diona knows better than to trust some one who drinks till they slurs their words! So Diona decides to see for herself about this so called 'Imposter'! And when they met, Diona felt a warm that made her feel at home, the warm she feels with her father when he's sober, a warmth she wants more of. With ears pulled back she approached the reader, Diona almost felt embarrassed but she didn't know why. When reader offers Diona a perfectly grilled fish (one they caught with Klee) she can tell, even if this person might be an imposter, they're a good person. Probably better than she's met at the bar she tends to. 

"*Munching on the grilled fish* Even if you share the Creator's face, you're a good person! *Munch munch* Those stupid drunkards must have been the one to put out that warent..."

(Since from what I can tell, Diona doesnt have much interaction with other characters, so no +2 characters.)

Qiqi meets Reader after she gets stuck in a loop again without anyone around to help. Thankfully they remember the fact that if she gets stuck like this, all you need to do is hug her and tell her "I love you the most," until she gets unstuck. And that's what reader did. Qiqi felt warmth, nothing like the rot inducing warmth she felt on hot days, but the warmth she had seen between family members- one the she so desperately craved. So for a good hour afterwards Qiqi followed reader around like a lost puppy. Until it started to get dark, reader tries to get Qiqi to go back to Liyue Harbor, telling her that Baizhu would miss her, but all they got back was 

"Mister Baizhu doesn't really care about Qiqi...Qiqi want to stay with you." In the end you both agree on a regular meeting place, writing it down in Qiqi notebook so she doesn't forget it, but for some reason, memories about you- even the most insignificant ones- stay completely clear. No fog or forgotten names. It's something she with hold close to her heart and never let go.

Shockingly the two people you meet through Qiqi are Xiao and Hu Tao. Xiao because I just like the idea that he's pretty much Qiqi's guard (or grumpy big brother) when she goes to find Qingxin and Violetgrass. 

It's actually Qiqi who brings Reader to Xiao say "Gege is nice, although Qiqi can't remember how exactly." And yeah Xiao's first reacting includes a pole-arm, but the second Qiqi stands between you two he lowers it, begrudgingly.

Hu Tao met reader when Qiqi was while Qiqi was out collecting herbs (with reader's help), 

Hu tao was helping a spirit near by seeing Qiqi, Hu Tao remembers the time she tried to burry her and, still feeling bad, Hu Tao tried talking and trying to make friends with Qiqi. Accidentally ignoring Liyue's most wanted, Qiqi hides behind reader. Reader, now scared they are gonna get shish kabob-ed, is greeted by a smile. "Hey! You're that so called 'Imposter', right? Aiyaya, you've caused quite the stir in the Qixing! Don't worry, from what I've been told, you haven't even claimed to be the creator. Hm? Who told me that? Hmhm! You don't need to worry about that!"

(Hu tao & Klee mains don't kill me I skipped their banners)

While hiding out in Inazuma reader fell asleep under a tree in Chinji Forest with some bake-danuki. Waking up after a few hours, feeling a new weight on their lap, they just assume its just another bake-danuki who just wants to cuddle so reader just put their hand on it... Only to feel fabric. Oh no... Looking down they saw a child. Well if Mondstat taught them anything, a child can be the strongest in their entire organization. (i.e Klee). Being as careful as they could Reader tried to slowly move out from underneath the kid, but...

"*Yaaaawn* What time is it? Or did that Shrine maiden find me again?... Oh you woke up! *Another yawn* I'm Sayu, sorry for sleeping on you, but you where just so warm and those bake-danuki looked so comfy that I couldn't resist." You couldn't even be angry at little Sayu, her little yawns and rubbing the sleepiness out of her eyes was just to cute! You just told her that she could lay back down,and that you didn't mind! Once Sayu woke up again and was fully awake she fully noticed who you where. "Oh, you're that imposter right? I don't really care about that, but the shuumatsuban does. I really just want to sleep so I can grow tall..." You tell her that its fine and she could nap around you all she want, you won't rat her out. "Even though all of Inazuma is after you, you're still so nice. I don't get it. Hm? You can't find it in yourself to be mad at them? I don't really understand why, but if that's what you think then maybe you really are the Creator."

The two other Characters reader meets are Ayaka and Itto!

She got word that Sayu was missing again. So seeing as she was stressed and her legs where quite stiff she decided taking a walk and looking for Sayu herself would be the best bet. While walking in Chinji Forest she heard Sayu's voice. "Okay, now tuck your upper body forwards and pull your knees into your chest. Oh! And don't forget to protect your head, It hurts really bad to hit it on the ground!" And another "Sayu, i don't think I could really bend that way, let alone roll around like that," Hmmm, that was an unknown voice? She did hear rumors about the Creator's imposter being seen in Inazuma, so she peaked around the tree and took a look at this unknown voice... ... ... So this is the imposter? The supposedly evil that wishes to take over Tayvet? Although Ayaka tried her best to not underestimate people, but... This person doesn't seem evil at all! She knows that they could just be acting kind, but if it was an act, Sayu surely would have noticed? "Uh oh," Well she always knew stealth wasn't her strong suit. Coming out from behind the tree she started speaking. "Sayu is this where you go every time you disappear? Although I can't really blame you." Ayaka and Reader ended up talking for a while, while Sayu took a nap on their lap. Ayaka learned that Reader never claimed to be the Creator, they didn't even know the god existed! She was shocked! Being falsely accused of impersonating a god you didn't even know existed, well it's insane to say the least! "I'm sorry that the Nations have turned their backs on you, and that the Archons have let this injustice carry on... What? The Archons where the ones to lead the hunt? Even the Anemo one? This is pure insanity! Hypocrisy! I will see if I can use my standing in the Kamisato clan to get you any safety, even if its just food and clean water, I'll see if I can do anything to help," Ayaka, being so strong willed about this, even moved her brother. Although this may put their social standing and place with the Raiden Shogun at risk, they don't care. That was the first warm bath and full meal you've had in a while.

For how Itto met Reader, well it was strange to say the least. 

Reader came back from grabbing some sunsettias in time to see Aratikki Itto pat Sayu on the head. "Hey! Don't treat me like some kid and dont pat me on the head!"  "Woah! Of you don't want to be pet then don't look so pet-able!" Sayu saw the Bake-danuki following reader she pointed at them. "There! Go pet them! Aren't they pet-able!" Upon seeing the gaint oni man come at them scarily fast they where greeted by a chipper, yet softer voice. Probably after seeing how nervous reader is."WOOOAH How do you get them all to follow you like that? The second I get close to them they usual disappear in a puff of smoke!" Itto said while watching Reader hand a sunsettia to Sayu, then splitting one in halfs for the two bake-danukis behind them to share. "I don't really know... Animals just seem to follow me?" They watched them dig in using their cute little hands, happily stuffing their faces. They held out a sunsettia in Itto's direction, "You want one too?" During the three sharing sunsettias, the thought of the imposter never even crossed Itto's mind. He never really cared for the gods anyway, even if he was thankful the Creator gave the world Grandma Oni! He thinks this person would fit right in with the Arattaki gang.

“Everyone’s missed you loooaads!”

“I sure hope they did,” You say cheerfully, watching Paimon zoom around you like an overexcited bee around a flower. “It’s been a while, hasn’t it?”

The Traveller nods quietly, offering you a smile as they set the Serenitea Pot out in front of you with a flourish and lift the lid off. Paimon kicks eagerly at the air, practically shoving you into it. “C’mon, c’mon! Paimon wants to see their faces when they realise you’re back!”

“Alright, alright,” You reply, holding your hands up. “Here I go…"

The process of entering the Traveller’s Serenitea Pot has gotten less jarring the more times you’ve done it, but it’s been so long since you’ve last been over that you’d almost forgotten. You’ve often seen sailors at Liyue Harbour competing to see who can eat the most cubes of mint jelly without using their hands - the feeling of being sucked into the teapot is what you imagine it’d be like to be one of those mint jelly cubes.

Soon enough, your feet land on soft grass. You take a moment to find your bearings, then look around and smile a little. The Traveller’s re-decorated quite a bit since you were last here - they've rearranged practically everything. There’s a new little patch of farmland nearby, as well, with some healthy green sprouts peeking up from the dirt, and tending to them is—

“Adeptus Xiao!!” exclaims Paimon, zooming past you to the yaksha carefully watering what looks like a young Valberry bush. “Look who we brought!”

He doesn’t respond for a split second, apparently far too focused on the bush, then slowly turns his head. You wave at him, while Traveller sets their hands on their hips behind you with a smile, as if proud to be the one escorting you back. As Paimon zooms off to the house, no doubt to let the rest of the teapot’s residents know of your return, Xiao stands up.

Based on his still static expression, someone else might think that he’s unimpressed by your sudden appearance, but you know better - the subtle widening and brightening of his eyes tells you that Xiao is very, very happy to see you. His mouth opens and silently forms your name; as he moves forward, he drops his watering can so abruptly that it falls over and splashes its contents onto the tips of his boots.

“Hey,” You say cheerfully, knowing better than to go in for a sudden hug. You wait for him to come to you instead, and he does - hand half-raised and expression almost wondering, as if expecting you to disappear as soon as he gets close.

“...you’re here,” He says finally, hand still hovering in mid-air in front of him, as if inviting a hand-shake. Just as you contemplate giving him one, though Xiao seems to realise what he’s doing, and drops it.

“Didn’t Traveller tell you?” You ask in return, raising your eyebrow and looking over at them. They shrug and smirk mysteriously. “...I sent a message about it a while ago...”

“Then clearly they didn’t pass it on,” Xiao mutters, confirming your suspicions. He narrows his eyes at the Traveller, who just continues to smile their smug little smile, as if to say, ‘Isn’t this just the greatest surprise?’

“It’s good to see you again,” You say hurriedly to dispel the growing tension as Xiao continues to glower faintly in the Traveller’s direction.

At this, he looks back at you, and smiles a little. “... it’s good to see you as well.”

He takes a halting step forwards, then pauses. He seems to struggle with something for a moment; finally, he makes a funny sort of lifting motion with his arms, looking at you with something like uncertainty. “Would you like…?”

“If you’re alright with it,” You reply as nonchalantly as you can, though your heart jumps a little hopefully.

Xiao nods quietly, and the resulting beam that stretches across your face is well worth the decision. He finds it a little hard to will his arms into wrapping around you in return when you move forward to hug him, but he manages it after a moment, and it doesn’t feel nearly as awkward as the first time he did it. You’re the first person he’s ever wanted to get mitigate his touch-aversion for; he thinks to himself that he must be making progress.

It takes almost a lifetime for the two of you to part - in fact, the Traveller has to clear their throat pointedly to bring you both back to earth. You give Xiao a slightly flustered smile as you step away from each other and begin to follow the Traveller over to the house. He can’t help but smile back.

Someone’s waiting for you just beyond the front door when the Traveller pushes it open. You hear them before you see them - the eager tapping of their foot against the ground is so loud that you have to wonder how they’re not drilling through the floor.

When you finally step over the threshold, the someone lets out a roar of delight that makes Xiao jump about two feet into the air. Before you know it, you’re being swept into the air by the sheer force of one Arataki Itto’s embrace.

“You're BACK!” He yells, directly into your ear. “Oh man, I missed you so MUCH!”

“Itto—” It’s kind of hard to speak with the wind whistling past your ears so loudly. “Hey, hey, put me down!”

“Oh, right!” He finally stops spinning and sets you firmly back on solid ground, giving you a hearty pat on the shoulder as if to anchor you in place. “Sorry about that.”

“I-it’s fine,” You mumble, swaying slightly. Xiao, skulking behind you, places a silent, barely-there hand on your back as if to steady you. “So… how’ve you been?”

“Ehh, okay, I guess,” He replies, making a so-so sort of gesture with his hand, then grinning widely at you. “Better now you’re here, though! Oh, actually, uh…”

He pauses and makes a show of looking back and forth, then leans forward and whispers, “Can— can you do the thing? Only, you’ve been gone for ages, y’know—”

You raise an eyebrow at him and lean in to whisper as well, pretending not to notice Xiao surreptitiously trying to listen over your shoulder. “What thing?”

“Come ooon, you know,” He almost whines, catching one of your hands and wringing it in both of his. Is it just you, or have the pads of his fingers gotten even rougher since the last time you saw him? “The thing! The thing where you do— where you call me the thing!!”

“I really don’t— oh.” You shoot him a slightly exasperated, mostly affectionate look. “Seriously?”

“I like it,” He says defensively, practically beginning to dance on his feet in anticipation. “Come on come on come on, it’s been so long since I’ve heard it!”

You sigh a little, but you can’t be bothered to hide your smile. “It’s not that big a deal, baby.”

“It is to— oh, you did it!!” Irritation quickly forgotten, he finally drops your hand in favour of clapping both of his together gleefully. “Aw, man, it just hits different when you do it. I tried asking Thoma to do it, but it wasn’t really the same—”

“You what?” You can’t imagine what Thoma must have thought of a request like that.

“—and then I tried asking Miss Eula, but she totally ignored me! Can you believe that?”

You can, but that’s not the part you’re more focused on. You stare at Itto incredulously. “You asked Eula to call you baby?”

“Well, how else was I s’posed to get the rush?” He practically pouts. “You weren’t around, so I figured I’d see if it worked when other people did it… but, would you believe it, it just doesn’t! Guess it’s 'cause I like you too much, huh?”

“Ah...” You’ve never had the heart to tell him that you’d only called him baby in the first place as a joke, without expecting him to enjoy it so much. And you’re not about to do it now. “...well, I like you too.”

He beams so brightly that you can practically see every single one of his pointy teeth. He’s like the world’s goofiest shark.

Unbeknownst to you, Xiao is glaring at Itto from behind you with the sort of intensity that would fry anyone else alive. Despite being able to see Xiao’s face clearly, though, Itto hasn’t even noticed anything out of place about his usually calm expression.

“[Name], [Name]!” Paimon drifts back into the hallway from the kitchen with the Traveller behind her. You don’t know at what point they’d snuck off, but you suppose you were too occupied with Itto to notice. “Thoma’s making you soup, come and have some!”

Oh, that sweetheart. You smile and follow her obligingly into the room she’s just exited. Xiao follows not far behind, and soon enough Itto is bustling after you is well. With the Traveller squeezing in just after him, the kitchen is quite cramped - especially since it had already contained three people before any of you entered.

“Diona!” You exclaim joyfully as a tiny girl immediately scampers up to you and latches herself onto your leg. You lean down and allow her to leap nimbly into your arms, pulling her up and resting her on your hip. “Did you miss me?”

“...n-no!” She buries her nose in your shoulder. “I— I just, um— thought you looked like you needed a hug. That’s all.”

“Oh, I see,” You say seriously, bouncing her slightly. “Well, you were very right, because I definitely needed a Diona hug.”

She makes a funny noise into your shirt and clutches even tighter at your sleeve. Her little tail swishes about for a moment, then wraps itself around your arm. (Behind you, Itto claps a hand to his mouth and mumbles, ‘That’s so cute.’)

“Your soup will be ready soon,” says Thoma happily from by the stove. He’s practically aglow; he smiles at you from across the kitchen as if you single-handedly placed the sun in the sky. “Miss Eula remembered that you liked it, so I asked the restaurant where you had it for the recipe.”

“You spoil me, Thoma.”

He sends you the sort of completely innocent cheery wink that only the truly sunniest of people can pull off. “Only because you deserve it!”

You can feel yourself burning up a little, but it’s easy enough to dismiss with a laugh and an upbeat smile of your own. You glance over at where Eula is watching you quietly, hands cupped around a glass of iced juice.

“I didn’t expect you to remember that soup, Eula,” You say conversationally, and though she affects dismissiveness, you can tell that she’s just as glad to see you as anyone else. “Thank you for that.”

She coughs slightly and offers a smile. “...think nothing of it.”

“If you say so,” You sigh, bouncing Diona again slightly. You imagine you can hear her purring ever-so-quietly. “I hearItto asked you to call him baby."

For a moment she doesn't seem to hear you, but then her expression rapidly twists into very obvious disdain. “Yes. I didn’t oblige.”

“I did,” Thoma chimes, still stirring his pot. He’s using bursts of his own Pyro fire to keep it at just the right temperature. “But I don’t think I can say it with the same magic you do.”

“There’s nothing special to it, really…” You wonder vaguely if Itto tried asking Xiao. Now that’s an exchange you’d like to hear…

“It’s special ‘cause you’re the one saying it,” Itto explains enthuasiastically, going to perch on a stool and then missing it entirely. “Oh, whoops—”

“Careful, baby—”  You shift Diona to one arm to catch Itto by the arm just as he lands heavily on the floor - only for him to immediately flop back down again. “—hey, what’s wrong?”

“You called me the thing and touched me at the same time,” He mumbles, lying back flat and pressing the heels of his palms into his eyes. “So I’m dying now. Sorry, Itto’s not home anymore...”

Xiao, hovering somewhere near the corner, gives Itto a disparaging look. Eula appears exasperated; Thoma is humming over the pot of soup and doesn’t seem to be paying attention to the antics being pulled nearby.

Diona turns around and looks down at Itto, then snorts. “You look silly.”

“That’s ‘cause I’m a silly man,” He says into his hands, then groans dramatically. “I’m not supposed to be silly. I’m number one, I’m the man, I’m the boss…”

“Traveller’s the boss, not you,” Paimon says indignantly. She’s mostly busy bobbing over Thoma’s shoulder, clearly awaiting her own portion of his cooking.

“...I’m the supreme head! Supreme heads aren’t silly! That’s what you do to me, [Name],” He adds dramatically, still lying flat on the floor. “You make me silly. You make me into crazy people.”

You lean over and peer down at him. “Have you been drinking?”

“‘Course not!” He waves an arm in the general direction of Diona, still perched in your arms. “Not supposed to drink around kids, am I? Liquor tastes gross, anyway…”

“Diona doesn’t let us keep any alcohol around, in any case,” Thoma adds, setting a bowl of steaming soup on the table and smiling over at you. “Come here, [Name], I’ve made it up nice and pretty for you… Eula, would you like some more juice? I know you don’t like hot things…”

Eula nods silently and comes over to sit across from you as Thoma refills her glass. She watches you admire the soup’s pretty garnish for a moment, then asks, “Did your travels go well?”

“About as well as they could without you,” You reply playfully, grinning when you see a slightly flustered smile flash across her face. “How’ve the others been treating you? How many times is Itto’s name down on your vengeance list now?”

“Thirty seven,” She replies in all seriousness. “He’s the first to have this many entries.”

“Haha, I’ll take it!” Itto finally pops up from the floor and drops himself into the seat beside Eula. “First again! See, I never lose at anything!”

“You lose at chess all the time,” Diona corrects. You’ve sat her in the chair to your left; her feet are dangling a good distance off the ground.

“Yeah!” Paimon joins in, bobbing over with her own bowl of soup clutched in her tiny hands. She blows on it for a moment, then continues, “Last time you played Eula, Traveller nearly died, they were laughing so hard.”

“You were laughing?!” Itto turns to shoot the Traveller a betrayed look. They simply shrug and smile innocently. “You told me you were crying! Crying in sympathy for my defeat!”

“It was the nineteenth loss in a row…” Thoma interjects, coming over to give Diona her own bowl. He glances over at Xiao to offer him a portion, but the adeptus simply shakes his head in refusal, and goes back to gazing at you. “...I’m sure you’ll get better at it eventually.”

“I wanna be the best at it now,” Itto says petulantly.

“You’ll have to practise, then.” Thoma brings over three more bowls for himself, Itto and the Traveller respectively, then finally takes the unoccupied seat on your right. You pretend not to notice him pulling his chair a few inches closer to yours as he sits down. “Miss Eula said she’d teach you, didn’t she?”

Itto groans and brings a passionate fist up to his chest. “But it’s so bittersweet when I’m being taught by the one defeating me!”

“You’re too dramatic,” Eula replies coolly, taking a sip from her drink. “Learning from defeat is what marks a wise fighter.”

“Wise? I don’t wanna be wise, I wanna be strong…” Itto thinks about this for a long while. “...hey, [Name], do you like wise or strong better? Strong, right? Right?”

“Hmm…” You pretend to give the question a good, long ponder, then aburptly don a devilish sort of grin, and wink exaggeratedly at the lady across the table. “...I like Eula.”

Eula gives no immediate reaction, save for the slight widening of her eyes. Then, as a subtle flush settles across her cheeks, Itto makes a loud noise of revelation. “Oh, I get it. Definitely strong, then. So you like me, too, right?”

“I already told you I did—”

“How’s the soup?” Thoma asks suddenly from your left. He’s still smiling, as usual, but there’s something just a little bit discontent about it. (A touch of jealousy, perhaps?)

“Oh, it’s— well, I haven’t tried it yet,” You look down at your bowl, then at the others’, noting that no one else’s herb garnish has been sprinkled in little flower shapes like yours. “It’s kinda too pretty to eat.”

“I made it especially for you, though,” He says, looking a little disappointed. You think something stabs you a little bit. “You should try it, at least. Here, would you like me to feed you?”

“Well—” He’s already taken the spoon and begun lifting it to your mouth. Well, if he’s being so generous, you’re not going to refuse him... and, you know what, the soup really is good.

“How is it?” He asks with a wide smile, reaching up to swipe at the corner of your mouth with a napkin. You’re not sure how to feel about this doting. (Actually, you are. You’re pretty happy with it.)

“Good,” You reply contentedly as he goes to fill another spoonful. “The best.”

His smile widens, and he leans precariously forward for a moment. “Thank you—”

“Boooo,” Itto calls lowly over the table, cupping his hands around his mouth and scowling. “Get a rooooooom. Or, actually— Thoma, you get a room, and [Name] can stay in this one.”

“Hm? What’s wrong?” Thoma turns a slightly teasing eye on him. “Do you want feeding as well?”

“Wh— no!” He blusters, flushing slightly. “No way! I can feed myself! I’m not a baby! I don’t need anyone to f-f-f-f-feed me—!”

“None of us are infants,” Eula interrupts, having noticed the way Itto glanced surreptitiously your way on those last few words. “We can all eat perfectly well on our own.”

The Traveller nods at this. Their bowl is already half empty.

“...we should go for a walk later,” You suggest after a few minutes of quiet eating. “Out in the wilds. Maybe we could beat up some hilichurls together…oh, or one of those wandering Ruin Guards! That’d be fun.”

“It would, wouldn’t it?” Thoma chuckles a little. “It’ll be just like old times.”

“I’ll hit it in the eye straight away this time,” Diona announces, kicking her legs about eagerly. “I’ve practised lots and lots while you were gone! And I know loads of cool attacks now, too! It won’t know what hit it!”

Eula nod. “She’s been very diligent. Adeptus Xiao’s been giving her a lot of pointers.”

At this you turn to look at Xiao, sitting quietly in the corner. He’s already looking at you; you kind of get the feeling that he hasn’t stopped staring at you for a while now. If you didn’t already know that this one of his ways of showing affection, you might have been a little unsettled.

“You were teaching Diona?”

He nods, still gazing back at you steadfastly. Then he glances down, curling his fingers slightly in his lap. “I thought… that was what you’d want me to do.”

“Training with adepti sounds way cool,” grins Itto. “Teach me something sometime, too!”

Xiao raises his head again, and he turns to you for a moment, as if asking what you think. You simply shrug, offering a supportive smile; a few seconds later, Xiao sighs and nods. “Very well.”

“That Ruin Guard’s not gonna last one second against all of us!” Paimon exclaims proudly. She’s already finished all her soup, somehow. “Even Azhdaha wouldn’t survive!”

“You say that like you actually help when we fight,” Traveller says out loud. Paimon looks deeply offended; she flies over to give them a good knock on the head.

“Ah, I’ve missed this,” You remark happily as the Traveller tumbles backwards off their chair to avoid Paimon’s attack. You look around the table. “I’ve missed all of you, actually. It’s good to be back.”

Eula smiles softly back at you. “It’s good to have you home.”
