@alollinglaughingcat i need backup pspspspspspspspspsps (also what do u think of my propo? :3 )
okay. okay.
I know. Obi-Wan is the fandom's thirst trap.
But take an asexual's advice for a moment.
Tumblr media
Look. At. This. Man.
Look at him. The look in his eyes. The sheer unadultured PAIN in them. Makes your heart twist just seeing it. These eyes watched his adoptive father get hanged by the Empire. They saw Bix Caleen utterly torn to pieces within the confines of her own mind. They saw his best friend K shot to pieces. They saw his adoptive mother urge his new home planet into Rebellion.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are the eyes of a boy who inspired a prison break within the bowels of the Empire itself. The eyes of a hopeless individual who gave equally-hopeless men hope for a better future.
Tumblr media
These are the eyes of a man. These are the eyes of a true Rebel.
Tumblr media
He's strategic. He's a fighter. He's morally gray. He's a Separatist-turned-Rebel. He is quite possibly the only survivor of his home planet.
Tumblr media
He survived a blaster shot to the side long enough to make it to Jyn, to give them both a sense of trust and belonging one last time before they saw their lives end in one, fatal shot.
Tumblr media
REBELLIONS ARE BUILT ON HOPE.
CASSIAN is the originator of this CORNERSTONE of a quote.
Tumblr media
He gave hundreds - if not THOUSANDS of people an opportunity to do something they were PROUD of. HE brought an ARMADA for Jyn, to steal the Death Star plans and give the Rebellion he gave SO MUCH FOR a fighting chance.
Tumblr media
It's not only about the looks.
But the fire that's contained within.
Tumblr media
also just look at him ↑ i wouldn't bang him, or anyone else, but come on.
He's gorgeous.
thank you for coming to my TEDTalk.
The Only Important Rule To Remember:
When there are only two characters remaining, they will face off against one another in a week-long poll to determine the victor.
Bye-bye Benny! You brought the drama, you brought the chaos! I want to give a big shout-out to the passionate and lovely Kylo Ren fans who campaigned so hard for their boy. You got him to bronze, and with how divisive Ben/Kylo is as a character, that's really impressive.
Now... without further ado...
This.
Is.
It.
It all comes down to a simple decision. A choice between two men, both of whom gave their lives to bring down The Empire.
Will the winner be Obi-Wan Kenobi?
Tumblr media
Or will it be Cassian Andor?
Tumblr media
Cast your votes for the last time to decide, once and for all... who is the hottest Star Wars man of all time?
...oh, but remember, this is all just for fun! So don't take it too seriously ;)
Happy voting, and may the hottest man win!

the fact that shakespeare was a playwright is sometimes so funny to me. just the concept of the "greatest writer of the English language" being a random 450-year-old entertainer, a 16th cent pop cultural sensation (thanks in large part to puns & dirty jokes & verbiage & a long-running appeal to commoners). and his work was made to be watched not read, but in the classroom teachers just hand us his scripts and say "that's literature"
just...imagine it's 2450 A.D. and English Lit students are regularly going into 100k debt writing postdoc theses on The Simpsons screenplays. the original animation hasn't even been preserved, it's literally just scripts and the occasional SDH subtitles.txt. they've been republished more times than the Bible
#due to the Great Data Decay academics write viciously argumentative articles on which episodes aired in what order#at conferences professors have known to engage in physically violent altercations whilst debating the air date number of household viewers#90% of the couch gags have been lost and there is a billion dollar trade in counterfeit “lost copies”#serious note: i'll be honest i always assumed it was english imperialism that made shakespeare so inescapable in the 19th/20th cent#like his writing should have become obscure at the same level of his contemporaries#but british imperialists needed an ENGLISH LANGUAGE (and BRITISH) writer to venerate#and shakespeare wrote so many damn things that there was a humongous body of work just sitting there waiting to be culturally exploited...#i know it didn't happen like this but i imagine a English Parliament House Committee Member For The Education Of The Masses or something#cartoonishly stumbling over a dusty cobwebbed crate labelled the Complete Works of Shakespeare#and going 'Eureka! this shall make excellent propoganda for fabricating a national identity in a time of great social unrest.#it will be a cornerstone of our elitist educational institutions for centuries to come! long live our decaying empire!'#'what good fortune that this used to be accessible and entertaining to mainstream illiterate audience members...#..but now we can strip that away and make it a difficult & alienating foundation of a Classical Education! just like the latin language :)'#anyway maybe there's no such thing as the 'greatest writer of x language' in ANY language?#maybe there are just different styles and yes levels of expertise and skill but also a high degree of subjectivity#and variance in the way that we as individuals and members of different cultures/time periods experience any work of media#and that's okay! and should be acknowledged!!! and allow us to give ourselves permission to broaden our horizons#and explore the stories of marginalized/underappreciated creators#instead of worshiping the List of Top 10 Best (aka Most Famous) Whatevers Of All Time/A Certain Time Period#anyways things are famous for a reason and that reason has little to do with innate “value”#and much more to do with how it plays into the interests of powerful institutions motivated to influence our shared cultural narratives#so i'm not saying 'stop teaching shakespeare'. but like...maybe classrooms should stop using it as busy work that (by accident or designs)#happens to alienate a large number of students who could otherwise be engaging critically with works that feel more relevant to their world#(by merit of not being 4 centuries old or lacking necessary historical context or requiring untaught translation skills)#and yeah...MAYBE our educational institutions could spend less time/money on shakespeare critical analysis and more on...#...any of thousands of underfunded areas of literary research i literally (pun!) don't know where to begin#oh and p.s. the modern publishing world is in shambles and it would be neat if schoolwork could include modern works?#beautiful complicated socially relevant works of literature are published every year. it's not just the 'classics' that have value#and actually modern publications are probably an easier way for students to learn the basics. since lesson plans don't have to include the#important historical/cultural context many teens need for 20+ year old media (which is older than their entire lived experience fyi)

We need to start treating bad writing like bad art and im not kidding
#now theres a lot more nuance to this#because “bad writing” is SUPER general#so i have to add a disclaimer#i dont mean propoganda. i dont mean biased and biggoted#i mean writing decisions u dont like!#ppl are very quick to just sit there and shit on writers#its okay to not like an ending. its okay to not like how a character was treated#and its okay to be mad about it if u like them very dearly#but at the same time sometimes we're a little too mean.#and sometimes they deserve it#but sometimes it's a little mean#this is. in truth. because of the lumine ending#on webtoon#its pissing me off how ppl are getting super upset and being rude to kabu#even tho so many ppl are explaining its because she grew out of the story. she didnt have passion for it anymore#she gave us an ending! you dont have to like it but stop acting like just because she COULD write more that she HAS to write more#art is tiring. sometimes you lose passion for it. sometimes you dont do it perfectly#sometimes your idea of good isnt the same as someone else's#i dont like romance for example. several tropes will turn me off it#but some ppl do#sometimes you make a pretty shitty plot or make plot holes#and yeah those arent super great to read!!! but a story is an art. its all different#its not all good and its not all bad#its made from a persons head therefore it'll reflect a person in a way#i just think its important to remember that writers are not machines#artists and writers aren't actually as different as everyone treats them#we're all making art. we're all making mistakes. i just think we should be a little nicer about it#its okay to criticize. but can we be nice about it#also i dont like the “professional author” argument#picasso was a famous artist his paintings are in meuseums and there's still people who don't like his art. i dont think its fair to go

Character info from submission under the cut
Brett Hand (Headcanon) Brett Hand is the co-team leader at Cognito, Inc., alongside Reagan Ridley. He was hired and microchipped by J.R. Scheimpough to help Reagan because of her intense anger issues and difficulties in social interactions. He is voiced by Clark Duke.” (From the Inside Job wiki) He is almost toxically optimistic and constantly desperate for validation and positive feedback. He currently works for the “Shadow Government,” but suffers from severe anxiety and worries he has no individual personality or even a favorite color. He is from a larger family (7 kids), has a constant smile on his face, his positivity is almost toxic, and is the “guy with Mormon energy” according to the character Myc.
Elder Calhoun (Canon) Elder Calhoun is a lovable and charming new missionary, fresh from the MTC. Geeky and lacks charisma, but won't let that stop him from doing his job. He is the only member of the church in his family. Started his mission mere months after getting baptized. Has considerably more faith than his companions

my real favourite character is Nidhogg, I’m only obsessed with Estinien bc he’s a hangers-on /jokes
#saint.txt#spoilers#major spoilers#no but for real dravanian lore is SO horrific if you actually look into it#and the depths Nidhogg dove to in his crusade and the level of harm he inflicted on his own children in service to it#in a lot of ways makes him worse than the Vault.#Nidhogg dies agonizingly without any real closure and scared of the end bc he has nothing left to go on for.#he *has* to die because nobody can move on for as long as he lives and that’s a huge tragedy. despite everything he’s still a member#of a dwindling First Brood (half of which have died and were tortured at the hands of men). he’s still a father. a son. an uncle. a brother#his fanily still loves him even as they have to raise the blade over his neck. either him or Ishgard dies.#he isn’t a villain just evil for the sake of it he has real motives and one of the deepest wells of love out of any character in the game.#and killing him doesn’t even really fix anything. all of Ishgard’s problems are still there bc Nidhogg was not the cause.#sure it gives Ishgard a space to start fixing those problems but…that’s not really saying much.#idk most MMOs pretty blindly just say you killed the big bad!! everything’s cool now!! and it’s really poignant that HW didn’t#you killed a grieving brother who was never able to move on. he found no closure in death. and in the process you made a lot of things#in Ishgard exponentially worse than they already were. his death isn’t a victory.#it’s a long and awful and drawn out tragedy of a man who shouldn’t have had to die.#he did a lot of awful things. but he was still family to a lot of people.#and he was a good person once. lots of his friends and family remember who he was before the grief tore him apart.#and you can’t write Nidhogg or Estinien without considering the other bc they’re the same person in almost every way.#enjoy my propoganda Nidhogg will be your favourite character too if I have anything to say abt it

Update: I did start POI 13 years after it aired. 13 episodes in and my current opinion is still neutral. It is without a doubt a product of post 9/11 America, and is filled to the brim with propaganda to the point I had to skip an episode to save my sanity, however I've read a lot of articles about how the show evolves throughout its run into something more. I am reserving my judgment until the end of the show. I am also very intrigued about what a show from 13 years ago predicted about AI when we are currently in the age of AI.
