Being the newest rookie to join the RPD was much like any other job, it had it's ups and downs. But they're easier to face when you have a partner like Leon Kennedy. Another rookie cop much like you who was ready to serve and protect, you know you can always count on him and that sweetly adorable face that's always so determined to help in any way he can. However, fighting a zombie outbreak wasn't what either of you had signed up for.

Okay so I’ve been biting my tongue but figured I might as well get it out already.

I feel like it’s important to point out that Piers was Chris’s lieutenant. He was directly under him. So yeah, he was a higher rank than the rest of the team, but not higher than Chris. And definitely not a high enough rank to have any sort of sway with the brass. If they want Chris back on the field, there’s absolutely nothing Piers can do to fight it.

But besides that;

Piers looks up to him, he cares about him. Hell, Chris scouted him, trained him. They were friends. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if he jumped at the chance to find him and bring him back.

He’s also a 26 year old soldier, I doubt he had any idea the extent of Chris’s mental issues. He’s drunk when Piers shows up after all. In fact, I doubt the BSAA cared or had the time to do a full psych work up on him before flinging him into Lanshiang.

Chris is unhinged, he’s reckless, he’s blinded by vengeance. But his actions are still his own fault. He shouldn’t be out in the field in any capacity. In fact, I feel like he shoulda been sedated and brought to a hospital. But he’s clear headed enough to know what he’s doing, he just doesn’t care about the consequences. He’s got tunnel vision. That’s not an excuse, that’s an explanation. He’s still responsible.

He tries to blame it all on Carla, but the blood of his own team in Lanshiang is also on his hands.

In fact, Piers points that out! “If you hadn’t been blinded by vengeance, we could have prevented some of those deaths.” Shit, they then get in a whole fight over it.

There’s another time I can think of off the top of my head where Piers points out he’s being reckless earlier on in the game. Chris shuts it down with the whole soldier thing.

So, if Piers knows something is wrong, why does he keep following him?

1; that’s his friend, 2; that’s his captain, and 3; if Chris goes out there on his own in the state that he’s in he will get himself killed.

I’m tired of this idea that Piers is some sort of powerful asshole that forces Chris into bad situations and is therefore responsible for all of Chris’s actions. It’s so dumb.

Piers isn’t some stupid manipulative person. From what we see he’s genuine, loyal, and even caring. He cared about continuing to fight the good fight, to help end bioterrorism. And he cared about Chris. He sacrificed himself for both. For the future.

I can understand loving a character a lot, but you can still recognize their faults. I love Chris, I do, but he did stupid shit and that’s on him. And that’s okay! Because fave characters aren’t always pure and innocent. and that’s fine! 

If you don’t like piers, then don’t like him. but don’t mischaracterize him to make others look good.

don’t make up some long-winded reason as to why and put it in the character tag for fuck’s sake. also talking about people who write him is unnecessary.

the way the women that matter to chris just DON’T matter to 6 lmao. he was missing for SIX MONTHS and claire seemed to not care (seen in rev2 but w/e she ONLY gets mentioned wrt her connection to leon and chris in a single file, and the one file between her and piers (actually it might have been in rev2 but who remembers)) jill, his best friend and partner, is just NOT mentioned. rebecca, someone he probably has a good relationship with (tho we don’t see it till vendetta so ig they didn’t have that to work with) and SHEVA who was so important to the last game, there’s a single file of her saying to piers “hey if you need help finding chris lmk okay bye” like UGH. ik 6 is super sexist but jfc. but sure finn mcnobody is sooo important

wrt chris like.... the fact jill isnt mentioned at all makes me livid. like at least claire gets a mention (still mad about that but i digress). jill? nothing. jill who chris spent the entire last game trying to find and save after he thought she died. like you said, jill, his best friend just has no mention. why was chris's PTSD and alcoholism or whatever a result of one of his random squads we dont know about and specifically one dude. like yeah its sad but the audience (for the most part) has no connection to these characters so using NEW people to do something a character we all actually know/like is just a waste.

The way that ppl don't treat Ada as a romantic interest for Leon as much as other character because she isn't white is so real, I legit don't think Leon has chemistry like that with Claire or Ashley unlike with Ada and yet ppl put Ada under Claire/Ashley

at the risk of sounding like a hater... claire is barely a person, at least in the main games. and also infinite darkness btw. and the other bad movie. more importantly tho there is no relationship between them. she and leon are friends but there is absolutely zero romantic chemistry there and when it is it absolutely feels forced LMAO. they have been in, what, one game together? and people wanted a relationship between them so they keep pairing them in different movies and spinoffs and shit and every time they fail to make any sort of chemistry happen. zero sparks fly. they feel like people who knew each other in high school but haven't spoken in 10 years so its awkward but they dont hate each other so they keep trying to make a friendship happen.

ada is integral to leons character. whether or not their relationship is romantic or something else there is at least A RELATIONSHIP, one that ends (since the last time they were seen chronologically was re6) with them fighting together against some incel who was obsessed with her and also he cradles her in his arms. theyre constantly flirting, they are two peas in a pod, rarely is there one without the other (movies, i guess).

i dont know why there is any sort of ship war between them because if you look at anything besides fanart there is not really a contest. im not even an aeon truther like that i just understand that they are important to each other.
