maybe it's because I'm a body horror artist that's been tailing Junji Ito around for years, but seeing people get legitimately scared by the doppelgangers in That's Not My Neighbor is so funny to me

I love the doppels sm but the art style is so unserious, how are people legitimately creeped out by it 😭

Ough I never mentioned but I found everything up to Baptism of Fire in older pre-netflix prints at the used bookstore heehee

Honestly the real star find was a NICE hardcover edition of Junji Ito's Gyo :O excited to read through a physical copy! Also found a Junji Ito I'd never read, so looking forward to another blind dive when I finish No Longer Human :3c

#Creepy chatter #Junji Ito my man #I love horror and macabre illustrators but can't really take jumpscares at all :S #I'm almost exclusively a horror graphic novel or written novel fan lol.. Getting unnerved by a book is Thorough Fear #Anyway uh only read No Longer Human if you are prepared for uh. The worst in every regard.#Its so good but the whole point is the reader can see a thread of humanity through the author's twisted self perception #And the resulting tragedies and crimes in his life make him human in his failures #But his constant masking in social interactions are framed by him to be his most inhuman trait. It's really cathartic #But very full of death. Highly recommend to the right crowd but it's not a universal read by any means
