thinking about the situation in my uni rn and it's just. putting me in stitches.
im from moldova. tiny country between ukraine and romania. i study at the most prestigious university in it, not very hard to get into we have like three of them all in all.
i study game development. year one. its a very recent (3 years, they don't even have alumni yet) addition to the specialty roster here, as part of the JOBS OF THE FUTURE program sponsored by some western fags, mostly americans and swedes. the other two are media production (anything to do with tv pretty much) and animation which i am not sure exists because ive never met anyone majoring in it.
its kind of awesome to study gamedev at my uni. we have good if a little socially awkward teachers, very amicable homey atmosphere, i actually feel like im working on something i love.
but there is just one thing that cracks me up.
the western fags, пендосы if we're being elegant, sponsor most of the course right. they invested in these beautiful clean high tech classrooms, sensor boards and bean bags. the gamer chairs they put in one of the computer labs are - quite frankly - the most ive ever felt alive in a chair. and the computers are quite nice. some gay ass leds in the see through frame. faggish. and yet.
they don't have illustrator. they don't even have photoshop. they have inkscape and gimp preinstalled on them. not even fucking aceprite. same for every engine we have in the curriculum tho it doesnt matter that much - but theyre still all free to use apps. and ive just been wondering. how.
because they know our teachers are still gonna show us how to do work in illustrator instead of fucking inkscape right. they know that. they paid for the classrooms, they paid for these unnecessarily bright machines. and yet they insist on "oh if you can't afford these adobe licences you shall never pirate".
i have not met a single person from a post-soviet country who had ever paid for one piece of software they use for work. in all of my twenty years of life. from hobbyists to cream of the crop in their profession. not a single one. i was taught how to pirate by my grandma at 6 years old.
fucking inkscape man.

okay so first you proved yourself to be not only one of the funniest people in the supernatural fandom with your meme blog but also one of the most thoughtful with your more serious posts, then you've also made great video edits, then you revealed that you can also DRAW well, and now you're also making gifs? this is unfair you just keep revealing more things you can do. you could run this whole fandom by yourself if you wanted to (i'll be supporting you though!!!)
This is so sweet! Thank you so much lmao!
My gifs are VERY hit or miss and I would LOVE to learn how to color them, but I don’t want to get photoshop (FUCK Adobe) and all the other stuff I have tried felt so clunky. So I just use Giphy to make them. Reading some advice from far more talented and experienced people about changing the screen ratio for your gifs, and blowing the video up as much as possible when screen-capturing, then compressing within the app, has all been a HUGE game changer for me but I don’t have even a fraction of the talent that people who do gifsets regularly have so I very rarely make gifs. (Someone has usually already made way better ones than I ever could anyway before I’d get to it). Every so often I will try my hand at it because I have brainworms or smthg.
I used to draw CONSTANTLY as a kid/teen but actually hadn’t drawn in AGES and then recently wanted to do some jokes and decided to give it a whirl again. This is another area where there are people with FAR more talent than I will ever hone.
Idk tho my brain goes off into a completely different world and I abandon something I was working on or something I was learning to do then come back like 3 years later lol and I can never keep up with everything I would like to do and am sooo susceptible to needing instant gratification so like longer projects or things that are too tough just tend to slip away. 🙈 but as long as we are having fun that is all that matters!

NICK FROM PYTHON,
"that Nick dude who do that design shit".
First and for most you should know that he’s a Vampire, and when he’s not eating you could definitely find him “pretending” to be a graphic artist/designer.
Creator of the brand Python with the setup of an old 15′ MacBook Pro from 2012 that looks like it went and fought in the jungles of the Vietnam War, works with Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator depending what he envisions to create.
“The other 10% of the time I like to have fun with a Canon 60D or I am using pen/pencil on paper coming up with ideas to scan into the computer. Oh yeah, that's another great medium I think a lot of people wouldn't think of, but yeah i love my scanner. I use the shit out of it. Everything I do I try to only use original content and the camera/ scanner makes a huge difference in the process, for sure. If I cant use original content I am definitely doing what I can to manipulate it in some way to make it mine. ”
Art of many forms has always been important to Nick, his earliest memories are of his drawings as a young kid at his nannies house. “ I had this broken stencil with different cars on it and one was a race car so i would fill the paper up with as many as I could and I would color them all in with different paint jobs.”
As a kid he spent a lot of time alone which helped him to become self aware, being able to create something out of nothing by himself with no ones help and even until to this day he lives by that. Independence. Nick has done a lot of his work including many things that will never be seen.
“One of my personal favorites would be for example when i did the artwork for LiL Peep's tape titled 'CRYBABY' that shit is pretty huge. I really just fucked with dudes music, at the time he was nowhere near the level he was now. Most songs on the tape have at least 1 Million plays tho now. Another reason tied to the same thing is Tracy(formerly known as Yung Bruh/Lil Tracy) is my favorite music artist. He's from Virginia Beach and the song 'WHITE TEE' on the 'CRYBABY' tape is about the shirt, which is what the 'CRYBABY' design I made is originally for & they did a video for it and he was wearing the shirt & shit lol so I was hype about that kinda. That’s the shit I do it for though. I got genuine love for Tracy I sing his music everyday & just to know he was wearing something i did makes it all worth while. I saw LiL Peep live in DC last year and on the projector behind him while he was performing they had the design up there moving around and that really meant something to me.
My advice to people looking to get into the things im doing would be to just be Original. That's most important. I wake up and breath this stuff everyday. Just be passionate and original.
Coming up soon from Nick and his team at Python, they have a 3 piece delivery scheduled for November but he is a stickler for detail so it might have to be on pause until December. STAY TUNED for more details on the actually release.
Before I go just wanted to say I appreciate everyone in my corner. Special thank you to my Python brother Jake Zoot, My girlfriend Chanel, I love you & to everyone else in my corner "BING ! PAY HOMAGE !"
