2018 Goals - March
Hello tumblr! March was a glorious month. I turned thirty, and celebrated it with my family (14 people!) in San Diego for a week. It was magnificent. I came home feeling strong and happy; feeling like I would turn out all right no matter what awaited me back home. The good feeling is still mostly there, even as the end of the month was harder.
Yearly goals are: Cook a new recipe every two weeks. I should change that wording to “two new recipes a month”. I had a weekend without Marianne and I cooked soooo much food, the freezers (both of them!) are overflowing. Some successes and some stinkers. If any of you read recipes in French, this Macaroni “avec pas d’viande” is dreamy. I also made a tofu curry that was tasteless, a carrot soup that tasted something but not something good, and maple-mustard chicken that was very good and very versatile. Plus old favorites.
Do something every week with friends or alone (no boyfriends or people I’m hooking up with) to strengthen friendships and become more emotionally independant. This was harder because I started dating someone that I don’t want my daughter to meet yet, so my free evenings were kind of taken by him. But I still suceeded! I had two parties for my birthday, plus the aforementioned trip, I spent time with my sister (including restaurants, a reading, and a play) and I saw my very best friend in the world. I’m unsure though - I feel more emotionally independant, so I feel like it’s okay if I slow down on this goal, but at the same time, maybe I need to be careful of that impulse if it’s brought on by wanting to date people.
Read 111 books. 26/111. One book behind schedule.
Watch 12 movies. 2/12. I saw Love, Simon and it was great.
Write two yuletide fics and another outside of the exchange. Nope.
March goals were: Books: Read 3 previously-owned: 2 ebooks and 1 physical (300+ pages). I read none. None books. Don’t buy books, kids, for that it the surest way to not read them. Instead I read most of a 500,000 word Harry/Voldemort epic. I don’t even know.
Learn: Enroll in school. I didn’t. I got lazy about all the paperwork to put together, which is the realest reason, but it kind of made me realize I didn’t want to do it. Yet. I feel like my life is going very very well, but I need to consolidate that before I add something big like grad school part time. Six months ago I couldn’t get up from the couch, I think it’s fine not to overwhelm my schedule just yet, despite how invincible I sometimes feel.
TV: Watch Rumeurs S2. Obviously. I actually started S4 this week. I feel kind of ready for new stuff again, though.
Home: Remove the pictures of the ex-husband. Done! And only done because of this setting-goals thing, so I’m pretty happy.
April goals are: Home: Call a plumber to get my hot showers back. TV: Halt & Catch Fire S3? The completist in me wants to finish Rumeurs first, but also, so much TV, so little time. Money: Stay on budget (including groceries). I have a big impulse to spend these days, I’m not sure why. Parenting: Play at least one board game a week with Marianne. She beat me at Machi Koro yesterday. What a kid.
Happy Easter everyone, hope April treats you well!
