Wolfstar AU where Sirius and Remus are work friends who have pined for each other for AGES, and Remus is finally single, so they both decide to try things out.
But Remus is terrified Sirius will find him too boring once he truly gets to know him, because Sirius is a free spirit/wild child with a well known history of being a womanizer/man-eater and heâs afraid of loving him and then being discarded by Sirius.
BUT Sirius would LITERALLY steal the moon for Remus, just wants to be loved, and finds everything about Remus to be absolutely incredible. Yet heâs afraid heâs too âmuchâ for Remus and is terrified of scaring him away. So the both of them keep going out but still continue to pine for each other and are anxious messes and keep trying to impress the other.

Am I the only one who thinks most of the Marauders and the Slytherin Skittles would have the biggest praise kink in history ?
warnings: smut
James would have one because of his constant need to be perfect, to be what he thinks the others need him to be: the perfect son, the perfect friend, the perfect student. But he always has doubts âam I enough ?â, âam I doing enough ?', âwill they like me ? â, âwhat if they donât ? what if they hate me ?â He needs to be reassured that he is. He is enough, he is more than enough.Â
I feel like it would be more prominent while he is intimate with you. He is mostly afraid of not living up to the expectation he thinks you have of him. So you make sure he knows that he makes you literally touch the sky.
âThat was the best match iâve ever watched ! Merlin, you were brilliant on that broom Jamesâ after Gryffindor wins the last match of the year.
âWhat do you mean âstupidâ ? Theyâre your glasses baby, they help you see. And you look really hot wearing them in my opinionâ after he overhears someone talking about another person and saying they look stupid with that specific pair of glasses.
âLike that, baby. Youâre doing so goodâ while he is covering your neck with kisses and gentle bites.
âYes, yes, fuck, right there Jamieâ after a particularly deep and strong thrust leaves you breathless.
âYou look so good between my legs, loveâ while he is eating you out messily and hungrily and so, so perfectly.
âNo one feels as good as you. No one could ever make me feel the way you do, Jamesâ while he is still inside of you, catching his breath and looking at you with devotion.
âAre you sure it was ok ?â
âJames, it was more than ok. My legs are shaking baby, that's a sign that it was pretty damn amazingâ
âAre you serious ?â
âApart from the very lame joke I am sure youâre thinking about, yes, I am. Actually, why donât I show you how serious I really am ?â
âWhat do you mean, baby?â
âI mean that youâre gonna fuck me again and iâll show you how much I always crave your lips, then a third time and iâll make sure the entire castle hears how you can make me cry with just your tongue, then a fourth because that perfect dick of yours needs to be fucking worshipped, and, finally, a fifth to show you that you fuck me so good that not a single coherent thought processes in my head when you're taking me apart on your cock, JamieâÂ
Remus would have one because he has hated himself his whole life. He feels like a monster, like he doesnât deserve all the love he is surrounded by, like all the good things people say about him are just lies. And he knows the truth, he knows he is nothing but an horrid creature and that he doesnât deserve to be loved. Except that it isnât the truth, and you tell him everyday.
With him I feel like it would be more out of the bedroom, and outside of sex, but not exclusively.
âYouâre really good at that spell Remus, mind showing me how itâs done ?â after he gets a rather difficult charm right at the first try.
âYou look very hot today, Rem. Well, you look hot everyday actuallyâ which makes him blush from head to toes.
âYouâre the best, you know ? You really areâ after he explains a difficult concept that nobody else got, but him.
âHoly hell, right there Remus. You feel way too goodâ while he eases in and out of you with a steady rhythm, knocking the air out of your lungs.
âYou take such good care of meâ while he is going down on you, slowly, sensually and with a glint of hunger in his eyes, knowing exactly what to do to make you fall apart.
âI love you, you know that right ?â
âYes, darling. You tell me everydayâÂ
âWell, thatâs not enough. From now on, I'll tell you twice a dayâ
âBut why ?â
âBecause itâs true' and then you give him the sweetest kiss.
Sirius would have one because he has been told his whole life that he wasnât enough. That he needed to be better, to do better, to be a better heir for the Noble House of Black, to be a better son, to be a better brother. He was told that he was worthless, that his parents had no use in having a son like him. He was a disappointment, a shame to the family. For them he didnât exist anymore.
But for you he was the most perfect person to ever walk on earth. Your brightest star.
He would love it both inside and outside the bedroom. I feel like he would also ask you to tell him something that makes him feel good, especially when he is having a bad day. He has no problem being praised in public, but he becomes especially vulnerable when youâre intimate because he can finally let go.
âTell me what did I do to have the best boyfriend ever ?â After he brings you flowers one day because he told you they reminded them of you.
âItâs ok Sirius, youâll get it eventually. Youâre one of the best students, you just need a bit more time which is totally fineâ after the tenth time he tries to get one of the most difficult spells right, only for it to go wrong.
âYouâre worth it Sirius. Youâre worth every single good thing that happens to you, never doubt thatâ after he breaks down reading one of his mothers older letters, full of foul words directed at him.
âYouâre such a good boy, arenât you ?â after he listens to you so well, kissing every inch of your body.
âFuck, you should see yourself baby. You look so good, so perfect for meâ while youâre on his lap, riding him slowly to savor that sultry fucked out expression on his face that makes you go feral.
âYouâre so sweet, Sirius, do you know that ? So fucking sweetâ after you bob your head on his length, swirling your tongue around his head to suck gently as his taste coats your mouth.
âWas I good ?â
âYouâre always good, Sirius. More thanâ
âAre you sure ?â
âDo you want me to describe in detail how good you are at splitting me open in every position known to man ? Because I can do that if you want. Might take three whole days though, a week if you want me to talk about that sinful tongue of yours, tooâ
âI think we have enough timeâ and then you both start laughing.
Regulus would have one because heâs been second his whole life. Second for his brother, second for his parents before Sirius left , sometimes he feels second even for his friends. He thinks no one cares deeply about him, heâs just there as a rebound. Heâs never been anyoneâs first choice, and he thinks he never will be.
You make sure he knows that not only he would be your first choice in every lifetime, but that he would also be the only choice for you, no one else would or could ever compare. He is the center of your universe after all.
I feel like he would blush like crazy and pretend he is annoyed by your words when youâre in public and you praise him even for the simplest thing, but his eyes would also warm up a little, just for a second, before going back to his blank and rather stoic expression. He would be a mess in the bedroom though, when he can finally let go and he allows himself to feel good about the sweet words that leave your lips.
âYou have the prettiest eyes I have ever seenâ after he catches you staring at him for a moment too long.
âYour poems are literally art, Regulus. I canât believe you can write like this, you know this is pure talent, right ?â after he shows you his poems for the first time and you nearly cry because more than half of them are dedicated to you.
âYou were so good up there, Reggie. And the way you caught the Snitch ? Fucking incredible. You are incredibleâ after Slytherin wins one of the biggest matches of the season thanks to Regulus catching the Snitch one minute from the end.
âYou feel so good, love. Stretching me out so wellâ after his cock slides inside of you perfectly, filling you up so nicely.
âEyes on me, Regulus. Theyâre so gorgeous, I want them focused me while I make you cum, ok ? Be good and keep them openâ as you stroke his length up and down, feeling the velvety soft skin on your palm as you give his head a gentle suck, tasting him on your tongue.
âYouâre so pretty when youâre all fucked out, Reggie. You feel so good taking me like thisâ while youâre riding him and he looks at you with hazy eyes, lust and pure bliss fogging his brainâ
âIâm yours Regulus. Iâm undoubtedly, irrevocably and utterly yoursâ
âPromise meâ
âI promise, Iâm not going anywhere. Iâm afraid youâre stuck with me forever, actuallyâ
âMmh, itâs gonna be hard, but Iâll survive I guessâ while youâre still joined, one body and one soul as you kiss him slowly and sweetly, his tone sarcastic but betrayed by the smile that's progressively growing on his lips.
Barty would have one because his father never gave him his attention. He was never enough for him, never a good son, never a good student, never good. He was constantly ignored, and the few times his father acknowledged him was to tell him that he was a lost cause, a disgrace, a shame. He was just a stupid boy, too reckless, too careless, too unhinged, too much, and, at the same time, never enough. But it wasnât like that. He was a bit impulsive, and sometimes he went a little bonkers, but he was a good person, and there were people who cared about him and his well being. You always made sure he knew that. He was your priority.
I have a feeling that he would be completely unashamed of being praised in public exactly like he is praised in the bedroom. Probably not in front of the whole school, but he wouldn't really care if people eavesdropped, his crooked grin widening when he notices their horrified faces. It is their fault, they could mind their own damn business.
âYes, Barty, youâve been a good boyâ after he asks you if he has been good after getting an O in Potions.
âBaby, weâre in public, I canât just scream about how good you fuck me. There are people eating, for Merlinâs sakeâ after he sees a guy talking to you before sitting at the table in the Great Hall. He asks you if you could tell him that he is the only one who could make you come with just his skilled fingers.
âDonât think like that ever again, Barty. You are not a lost cause, you aren't. You deserve good things, you deserve the best things, sweetie. You deserve to be loved, and I do. I love you so much Barty, donât ever think you are not important to me because you are. You mean the world to meâ after he receives a letter from his father asking how a cretin like him was able to find someone who could love him. If he hadnât begged you to stop after calming down a little you wouldâve been in Azkaban with a murder charge by now.
âFuck, I love when you do that. Feels amazing, babyâ after he trails a path of kisses down your chest only to focus on the tender flesh of your nipple as he sucks gently, and grazes it with his teeth, teasing you.
âHarder, baby. I know you like it like thisâ while his thrusts become more erratic, stronger and deeper and you can hardly think.
âYouâre cock is perfect, Barty. Fills my mouth so nicelyâ while youâre sucking him off, his tip hits your throat and you swallow as the loudest moan leaves his mouth.
âI told Mulciber that no one can make you scream as loud as I doâ
âYou did what ?! Barty !â
âWhat ? Is it not true ?â
âI- of course itâs true, but why did you have to tell him ?â
âHe was being rather cocky about the fact that he could make you scream like, and I quote âa bitchâ. Then he started using other very disrespectful words to describe you baby, and at that point I had to punch him right in the face, because no one has to even dare to talk about you like that. He is actually lucky my Sectumsempra is not perfect yet, or he wouldâve ended way worse. And then I added that little detail. I probably shouldnât have done it, but I was furious. Do you want me to obliviate him ? I can do that if you wantâ
âItâs fine, he needs some salt rubbed on his woundsâ
âAre you sure ?â
âYes, baby. And itâs nothing new, I'm sure the entire dorm hears me when youâre fucking me, I can't help it. Now come on my knight in bloody knuckles, letâs go to Madame Pomfrey to get those bruises checkedâ you kiss him lightly before heading to the infirmary.

In hindsight, you should've known.
"Have you maybe considered giving up on her?" Remus' question caught James off guard when he returned to the marauders at the Gryffindor table after another failed attempt and rejection by Lily.
"Not until she's given me a chance at least," James responded, eyes trained on Lily's retreating figure. "Besides, this chasing game is sort of our thing now."
The marauders nodded sceptically.
"Not particularly the dynamic I'd want to have with the person I fancy," Peter whispered, loud enough for everyone to hear. James shot him a look as if Peter had just committed the greatest betrayal of the century.
Sirius snorted out loud. "Dynamic my ass, yeah." He threw a piece of bread across the table in James' direction.
"He's stuck with Lily now because if he decides to chase some other poor girl and inevitably get rejected, it'll prove that James Potter just can't get some," he added, wearing a shit eating grin on his face.
James pulled a face at Sirius. "Oh please I can get girls. It's just that contrary to you, I actually show commitment to only one," he huffed.
Sirius shrugged. "You say that, but you've never even had a girlfriend. Been pining over Evans since first year. Besides, commitment or being stuck," he weighed his hands in the air. "Same same."
James rolled his eyes and got up. When he turned around, he crashed into someone who had been standing behind him, tripping her, and he sent her crashing into the Ravenclaw table behind him. The Ravenclaw sitting at that table ducked out of the way. She stuck her hands out to brace herself and loudly hissed when her hand ended up in someone's scalding soup.
"Godric, I am so sorry," James scrambled to offer her a napkin. She snatched it out of his hands and dried her hands. James saw that they were scorching red and more apologies stumbled out of his mouth.
"Let me help you get to madam Pomfrey," he offered, concern lacing his tone. He reached his hand out to her and she jerked away.
"Fuck off Potter, I'd rather take a bloody bath in boiling water than go anywhere with you." She spat, and left, hand pressed against her chest, covered by the napkin.
The commotion had everyone turn their heads at him and despite usually being a fan of being at the centre of attention, he embarrassedly sat down again.
"Guess really no girl wants to go anywhere with you, Prongs," Sirius snickered. James offered him a sour look.
"This was just because I literally burned her hand, Pads. Any other time, she would totally go out with me." James boasted, but guilt and concern for the girl who he didn't know, lingered in his mind.
"Right, you wanna bet?"
"The usual?"
"The usual."
They sealed the deal with a nod. Peter and Remus shared a look but they knew that was no use trying to tell them to stop it already. Remus thought back to the scowl on the girl's face and prayed that she would stay headstrong and reject James.
After all, Sirius and James were from wealthy families, so money has never actually played a role during these bets. Itâs just the principle of it that counts and is the reason why they only ever bet one galleon. It meant someone would get hurt.
The scowl on your face disappeared with the cool relief of the running water from the girls bathroom on your hand, but the bitter feeling remained when your mind wandered to James Potter. You scoffed to yourself. Arrogant, self pretentious, blood boiling bully. Though never having been a victim of their pranks, you lost several friends to Beauxbatons because of the maraudersâ cruelty.
You glanced at yourself in the mirror one last time and left for your Ancient Runes class where you walked to your designated seat next to Lily Evans. You two unsurprisingly got along. Though your personalities were nothing alike, you being rather reserved, you could both value each otherâs calm presence and even âmaturityâ to a certain degree.
She offered you a smile and you nodded at her in acknowledgement. âIâm embarrassed to ask this, but could I maybe share your book? I didnât have time to pick it up after lunch.â Lily gave you a surprised look but quickly assured you that you could to which you offered her a small but grateful smile.
She opened her mouth to tell you something, when something else, or rather someone else, caught her attention. Before he even reached the table, she had already attempted to ward him off in a monotone voice. âGo away Potter, Iâm not interested.â
âNot here for you, Lilypad,â he smugly said and stopped right next to you. Lily raised her eyebrows and looked at you with a concerned look. Without looking up from Lilyâs book, you also repeated Lilyâs words. âFuck off Potter, Iâm not interested either.â
âI havenât even said anythi-â
âAnd I donât want you to.â
âOkay, but here me out, I-â
âI. Donât. Want. You. To,â you pronounced every word clearly.
âCome on, just listen-â
You turned around, an incredibly sour look on your face. James couldnât help but admire you for a moment. You looked pretty, contorted face aside. Especially when you had smiled at Lily. It had caught him off guard.
âCan you spare me a second?â He tried again. For a second, he thought he saw a look of appreciation cross your face at his formulated words, but it was gone in a split second.
âNo. Class is starting, get back to your seat Potter,â you dryly responded. You turned back to your book and James walked back to his friends.
James potter was determined though, you had to give him that. You abruptly turned on your heels, ready to walk in the opposite direction, even if it would mean a detour of about 8 minutes to your destination. You were really not into his crap today.
âY/N!â James called out to you and chased you.
âI told you to call me by my last name. We're not friends, Potter. I donât want to be. In fact, I donât want anything to do with you. So, for Merlinâs sake, leave me alone, or I swear on his balls that I will hurt you.â You spat the last part out through gritted teeth and
James took a step back in surprise. He looked at you for a moment, carefully considering his next words. âL/N.â He settled on, voice quieter. When you didnât immediately walk off, he took it as a sign to continue. âI was wondering if you would allow me to sit next to you during our free period between Transfiguration and Potions.â
You raised you eyebrows.
âMy friends all took classes and thereâs like a two hour gap and I like company, thatâs all,â he hastily explained before you could go and reject him.
âWhat are you, six years old?â You sarcastically asked him. âCanât spend what, two hours on your own?â
Jamesâ eyes averted to the ground. âJust not enjoying being alone,â he mumbled, almost embarrassedly. You looked at him, great, now you were being an asshole yourself.
âYou know the big old wardrobe in the abandoned classroom on the seventh floor?â you eventually asked. Jamesâ eyes lit up and nodded.
âItâs bigger on the inside.â You said.
âA secret room?â He asked while trying to recall seeing an extra room on the map. You nodded. âNot even visible on your map because itâs not Hogwarts. A pocket dimension, Dumbledore said.â
Jamesâ jaw fell slack. âYou know about the map?â he whispered.
âYou can join me there between classes next week if you want, but I canât promise you that itâll be any different to passing the time on your own.â You said, completely ignoring him. You stopped in front of the library. âA word about the wardrobe and I swear-â
â-on Merlinâs balls that youâll hex me, yeah,â he waved you off with a triumphant smile.
âWitty, are you now.â You looked at him. A small smirk lingering on the corner of your lips. James heart skipped.
âJust one of the effects you have on me, darling,â he winked at you. âL/N,â he quickly corrected when your face fell into a scowl again.
âIâm not kidding though, this is my spot to get away from everything. I donât feel like sharing it with people.â James felt flattered. So you would share it with him?
âI solemnly swear I wonât tell,â he assured you, a serious expression on his face. âYou can trust me, L/N.â He cringed at his own words. Trust him? He was only talking to you to prove Sirius wrong.
âIâll hold you to it, Potter,â you nodded and entered the library. The door closed and James slouched against the wall next to him. A giddy feeling fluttered in his stomach at the thought of hanging out with you.
âSo what happened to rather bathing in boiling water than going anywhere with me,â James couldnât help but arrogantly ask while trying to keep up with your ridiculously fast walking pace as you two were on your way to the wardrobe. âIâm not going anywhere with you, youâre going somewhere with me,â you denied, your eyes narrowed at him. James put his hands up in mock surrender. âLead the way, L/N.â
âI am,â you deadpanned.
James sceptically looked at the oak wardrobe. He and his friends had rummaged through this room already. It included the wardrobe, but it had looked pretty normal.
âDoesnât look very special,â he said while you were busy locking the door behind you. You made your way over to James and pushed him out of the way roughly. He gaped at you with an offended look on his face. âYou know, being a bit more chivalrous wouldnât hurt you,â he exclaimed.
You shrugged and opened the door. James stared in amazement as he realised that the inside was in fact bigger. He walked to the wall that the wardrobe was standing against and squeezed his hand between the wall and the wardrobe.
âWhy are you so surprised?â you asked. âWe literally learned about the Extension charm yesterday?â
âWe did?â
Maybe hanging out with James Potter wasnât as terrible as you had expected it to be and so, it became a routine. James had finally realised that his persistence to flirt with you or try to impress you wasnât getting him anywhere and had opted to actually be considerate of you.
He respected you when you not so kindly told him to fuck off and was sitting next to you quietly while you studied between hours in the wardrobe. He had read the book that heâd seen you read in the courtyard- and was surprised to find himself interested in the story- so that he could talk to you about something when your demeanour told him that he could speak again. He stuck to calling you by your last name and learned to read your mood when he could joke around.
Most importantly, heâd learned to enjoy himself in a comfortable silence that didnât require him to do or say anything and just let him be.
You two were laying on the couch again, feet propped up, both on opposite sides, but feet touching in the middle. James was admiring you. The way your eyebrows crunched up in a frown, eyes squinted, and lips mouthing the words you were reading.
âYouâre careless with spelling, Potter.â You eventually looked up from correcting his assignment. âBut thatâs a brilliant essay.â
James beamed up at you, relief, pride and happiness all washing over him at once.
âAlso, you have a nice handwriting,â you added after considering whether or not you should mention it.
James was now fully grinning, pushing himself to sit up from his relaxed position. âTwo compliments?â he asked teasingly and you immediately huffed and looked away. âDonât let it get to your head, Potter. Itâs big as it is.â
âBut you think Iâm brilliant and that my handwriting is nice.â He repeated happily.
âYour essay was brilliant,â you attempted to correct him, but he seemed to be lost in happy thoughts. You looked at him. He had his arms up behand his neck because he had laid down again. He was grinning from ear to ear and his eyes squinted in delight and satisfaction. He looked so... harmless.
âYou know,â you began and James looked up at you, propping himself up a little in curiosity at the fact that you were starting the conversation for the first time.
âI used to think you were the biggest asshole ever. Astoundingly stupid and good for nothing but hurting people.â You were looking up at the ceiling now and missed the way James eyes flashed with mixed feelings.
âI had a few friends, you know. They were great, but everyone called them boring and a stick in the mud.â You turned your head towards James. âYou and the rest of the marauders used to tell us to âlighten up already,â and pranked us separately, one by one until all five moved schools.â
James looked down, feeling horrible and guilty. It was true that in his early years at Hogwarts, he and his friends had been going too far with pranks. That kind of stopped after that prank.
âSo Iâve held a grudge against you, like any good friend would do,â you smiled to yourself at the thought of your friends. âI think maybe I no longer have to.â James heart melted at your confession. Over the course of weeks, heâd become desperate for your approval and friendship.
âYouâve changed since then,â you concluded out loud. âNot cruel anymore.â You hesitated for a moment.
âJames?â You then asked and James looked up at you with wide eyes. He knew that this was the first time that youâd addressed him by his name instead of âPotterâ.
âYeah?â
âI really value our friendship,â you whispered. âItâs worth a lot to me.â
James heart both warmed and tightened. âItâs worth a lot to me too,â he whispered back.
âWhere were you,â Remus asked when he returned to the Gryffindor common room. âWe looked on the map, but we couldnât find you.â
âAnd we couldnât find Y/N either.â James fought the urge to correct them and say that they shouldnât use your first name like that. That he had worked for your friendship to stop calling you by your last name.
âDo I owe you a galleon now?â Sirius popped up from behind him. âWhat? No,â James said, thinking of another subject to talk about, wanting to ignore the existence of the bet in the first place.
âI was hanging out with Y/N,â he admitted. âBut because we're friends now.â
âYeah, but where were you hanging out?â Peter asked. âBecause we werenât allowed to leave Hogwarts today.â
âDid you find another secret passage?â Sirius gasped and James immediately shook his head to deny it. âOh come on, weâre your friends, you have to tell us!â
Remus watched James shift uncomfortably and tried to intervene. âLet him be, Padfoot.â Sirius wasnât having it though, and when James said that he promised not to tell, he responded with, âWhat, you value your fake friendship with that stick-up-her-ass girl more than us?â
âItâs not a fake friendship,â he weakly fought back. âDonât call her that.â
Sirius sighed. âIâm sorry Prongs. I didnât mean to call her that, hell I donât even know the girl, sheâs probably alright. But youâre keeping secrets, itâs not fair.â
You stared in disbelief at the marauder who wasnât James, having a hook-up in your wardrobe. When he noticed you in the entrance, Sirius merely held his hand up at you in a greeting. âThanks for letting me borrow this, this is the best spot for not getting caught.â
You backed away and slammed the door shut. James.
âPotter!â you yelled at him when you saw him leave the Gryffindor chambers. Your face was contorted in anger and you were seething.
He looked up at you, happy feeling in his chest and he was itching to show you the paper behind his back.
You stabbed your finger in his chest, effectively wiping the happy grin on his face off. âYou promised,â you hissed. James immediately knew what you were talking about. âIâm sorry, I had to tell him,â he tried to justify his actions and you scoffed. âFuck you,â you spat and walked off.
James stood there, frozen and stared at the empty spot in front of him. His arms hung by his side and he looked down at his essay which wore a big âOâ mark and right next to it in Professor McGonagallâs handwriting, âKeep this brilliant work up, Mr. Potter.â
James was watching you, sulking. He had made such progress and now it felt as if all those baby steps were for nothing, instead taking eight long strides back. You had closed yourself off again and James was too intimidated by your glares every time he walked in your direction, so he would change directions last minute every time you burned a hole through his head with your eyes.
âThis is so stupidâ he thought to himself when his body automatically steered him away from you again. He mustered up all of his courage and headed straight for you. He would rather face your wrath head on than go back to being strangers. Especially when tomorrow was free period again.
âIs it okay if I talk to you for a moment?â he asked, nervous.
You scanned him up and down. Everything about him looked remorseful, from his posture to dull eyes to his tone when he asked you if he could have a word. You waved at him to take a seat next to you, and he gratefully took the opportunity.
âIâm sorry. I swore I wouldnât tell and I did and I shouldnât have. I would go back in time and stop past me from telling Sirius, but I canât, but I also donât want to lose you because I meant what I said. This friendship is worth so much to me.â James took a deep breath. âSo please let me make amends?â he finished.
âOkay.â
James blinked. âOkay?â he dumbly repeated.
âThatâs what I said.â
âWait, so thatâs it? No grovelling? No conditions?â
âWould you like me to add conditions?â
âI mean..â James stuttered. âSure?â
âFine. Consider this your second chance , even though it technically is your third after your horrid behaviour towards my friends. Itâs also your last.â You said that last part sharply. âDo you accept those terms?â
James nodded in relief and agreed. It was only when he laid in bed at night that he realised that he shouldâve probably gotten clean on the matter of the bet right when he had the chance. He was on his last chance after all. But it would be alright. He would simply call off the bet and then it would be as if nothing ever happened. No one had to know, no one had to get hurt.
He waited after Transfiguration and grinned at you when you made your way to him. He had really looked forward to spending time with you again at your spot. Even if the marauders knew its location now, too.
âLead the way, Y/N.â
âI am,â you retorted with a hint of amusement in your voice. James grinned and followed you, only noticing after a while that you were walking around on the third floor instead of the seventh. âDid you find a new spot?â he curiously asked.
âYes. And no.â James huffed at your vagueness, imploring you to explain. âLetâs just say that Dumbledore got himself off my blacklist.â You turned the corner and moved a portrait to the side. James knew of the passageway. It was moist in there and cold so it hadnât interested him and his friends very much. But behind the door you just opened, stood your wardrobe.
He looked at it, amazed. âYou got Dumbledore to move a wardrobe for you?â he asked incredulously. You slyly smiled but didnât say anything except for âI did the cleaning myself.â
âSo whatâs going on with you and James,â Lily curiously asked you. You shrugged and brought your water bottle to your lips. âKept bothering me into a friendship, I guess.â
Lily laughed. âWell, whatever keeps him away from me,â she joked and you let out an audible laugh. She leaned in towards you. âBut if heâs no longer fighting for my attention, but yours, I think it might mean that he fancies you.â
You choked on your water. âMost certainly not!â You strictly assured her and composed yourself. Lily laughed. âNo need to get so defensive over his feelings. You make it seem as if I suggested that you fancied him,â she said, chuckling. You turned your head away and she gasped. âDo you fancy him?â
âWhatâs with all this gossiping and boys talk,â you grumbled, unpleased. âBut for the record, I donât think so.â You stuck your nose up.
âYou donât think so?â Lily repeated. âWhat do you mean?â
âI gravely appreciate him and I feel very comforted in his presence. Weâre friends. It doesnât mean I fancy him.â You answered. âBesides, Iâve never fancied anyone. Not sure I know what itâs like.â
âOkay, how would you feel if he starts dating someone, right now?â
You pondered over the question for a bit. âI guess he can do whatever he wants, but donât expect me to share our spot with some random girl,â you said, the last part coming out more bitter than you expected. Huh. âDid you fancy James Potter?â you wondered.
âI fancy her,â James told his friends while they were out in Hogsmeade.
âL/N?â Peter asked. James nodded in affirmation. âWell damn Prongs,â Sirius started. âWhat happened?â
âY/N and I are good, I think. We fit and it feels amazing. It seems surprising, but we can talk for hours or sit in silence together without it being weird at all. Everything is comfortable with her, in like the good way,â James struggled to express all his feelings about you.
Sirius whistled. âAlmost envious of you, Prongs. What about Evans though?â
James shrugged. âNot the kind of dynamic I want.â
âSo are you going to tell her?â Remus asked. James puffed his chest. âOf course. Iâm not shy about my feelings. I publicly chased after Lily for years,â he reasoned. But despite his big words, he felt like a nervous wreck. Because what if you rejected him?
James found you in the library. âIs now a good time?â he asked. You sat up straight. Last night, you had done a lot of thinking and came to the conclusion that yes, you fancied James Potter. âYes, actually. I wanted to talk to you,â you replied. You got up and and started to gather your belongings. James grabbed your books for you and you left the library.
âI fancy you.â
James blinked. Were his ears deceiving him? Were you joking? Did you have a bet of your own going on with someone?
âIâm sorry?â he managed to get out, his voice an octave higher than usual.
âI fancy you,â you stated again. Matter of factly. âI came to the realisation yesterday and they do say honesty is the best policy.â James laughed softly at your sad attempt to lessen the awkward atmosphere.
âI actually wanted to talk to you to say the same thing,â he breathed out in a relieved manner. You stared at him in surprise. Okay. Definitely not what you expected.
âSo you fancy me.â You repeated to make sure.
âAnd you fancy me.â James nodded.
âDo you want to go out with me?â you asked.
Jamesâ heart leaped. He had spent so much time asking that question, he realised that how amazing it felt to hear the question directed at him. He grinned. âGlad you asked, darling. Yes, Iâll go out with you.â He reached out to you carefully wrapped an arm around you. You fully leaned into him in a hug and breathed him in.
âThink our relationship just went up in value.â You mumbled, your words slightly muffled by your face, hidden in his sweater.
You felt him laugh. âWell, we upgraded from friends to couple. How much are we worth now?â
You pretended to think about it. âWeâre worth all the money in Gringotts bank.â
âThatâs a lot of money,â he hummed.
You had taken James out on a date in the middle of the Gryffindor Quidditch stands at night, after curfew. James was the first to lean in and kiss you and when he did, he practically melted into you, your arms slung over his broad shoulders. Heâd muttered something about how lucky he was and youâd told him that he better know it, before admitting that you felt the same way.
After you had left him several hickeys, scattered across his neck, he had insisted on returning the favour. He was only on his second when you two were interrupted by Filch, who had spotted you two. You two ran off to the third floor and decided to hide out in your wardrobe until he was gone all while continuing making out. You and James fell asleep in that position. You on your back on the couch, James draped over you like a weighted blanket with his face nuzzled in your throat, and your legs entangled.
Though very surprised at first, your fellow Hogwarts students quickly got used to the idea of you and James in a relationship. It wasnât long before you were walking down the corridors together, James hand on your lower back and inching lower. You shot him a warning glare and he bit his check when he splayed his hand over your ass with a cheeky smile. You elbowed him in the ribs, earning a huff and let your hand rest on his ass in turn.
Everything was perfect, which is of course why everything had to become a disaster very quickly. James wasnât even sure how such a perfect night had turned so horrible. One moment, you were partying, everything had been great, and he had been envisioning you and him for the rest of your lives, and the next, he was pleading with you through a locked door.
âY/N, we can call you Y/N right?â Sirius had drunkenly slurred. You had rolled your eyes at his antics, but nodded. Though you would never admit it out loud, you appreciated the elder Black.
âI like you. We all like you and weâre happy that itâs you and not Evans anymore,â he mumbled on and he stumbled over his own feet, barely reacting in time to not drop to the floor.
You internally smiled at his words.
âIâm sorry that I was an asshole to you. Youâre really great. If I had known, I wouldnât have targeted your friend group for pranks or risked your feelings by making you part of a stupid bet.â
It was as if the world stopped spinning for a moment, music only barely in the background. âA bet?â you spoke in a dangerously low voice.
Sirius seemed to catch on to your change in demeanour and sobered up at an incredible rate. âShit, no-â
But you had already turned around to find James, Sirius stumbling behind you to try and stop you.
âHow much?â you spat out angrily when you found him. The music was luckily loud enough to hide your argument from other students.
James looked at you, confused. âHow much?â
âHow much are we worth?â
James frowned at you question. âAll the money in Gringotts bank,â he calmly answered you and moved to embrace you, thinking you were just very drunk.
You pushed him away and he stumbled a few steps back.
âNo,â you hoarsely responded. âThatâs how much I think weâre worth. How much did you bet on me.â
Jamesâ blood ran cold. âI-â His words opened and closed like a fish. âBecause the amount better have been fucking worth it, James,â you cut him off.
âDarling-â
You felt numb. âHow little?â
âA galleon.â
You nodded and stepped back. âI was wrong,â you shakily breathed out. âYou, James Potter, are still cruel.â
James chased you. âWait, please,â he begged. You ran out of the room, towards the third floor and into the wardrobe hidden behind the door behind the portrait.
James followed you and pulled on the knob to open the wardrobe that you had locked. He sunk down against the doors and took a deep breath.
He had to explain. He had to let you know that you meant everything to him. And that everything was real. Honesty is the best policy after all, right?
âIâm sorry. Darling, I am so sorry. Itâs so stupid how it happened. They were saying that I couldnât get anyone to go out with me and then I accidentally hurt you with the soup incident, so Sirius bet with me that I couldnât get anyone you to go out with me. I was never planning on hurting you, I swear,â James rambled.
âI wanted to apologize and make up for your hand anyway. Not that it was out of pity or anything,â he immediately added.
âI did think you were beautiful. I did want to talk to you. And when you rejected me at first, yes, I did want to prove Sirius wrong. But then you were everything. I wanted so desperately to be friends with you because you were right. The bet was stupid, but it was never about money. It was never even about you per se, but Iâm so fucking happy that it ended up being you, because Iâm in love with you. Please believe me.â
You sucked in a breath at his words. âWhy didnât you tell me?â
James jumped at your voice from the other side of the door. âI wanted to, I really did. But I had already screwed up once and you werenât going to give me anymore chances, so I thought that if I just never told you and called of the bet, pretending it never happened, I could keep you.â He leaned back against the door, eyes tightly shut. âAnd if we break up, then I donât regret it, because the past months with you were perfect,â he whispered.
The door abruptly opened from inside out and he stumbled back, having leaned against it. He looked up at you, hovering above him. He knew you. He knew how to read you and right now, you needed space. âIâll wait for you,â he said, hesitantly and left you alone.
You needed your friends right now.
When James didnât see you the next day, he accepted that you didnât want to see him. But by now, almost an entire week had passed and James and his friends were itching to apologize to you at least once more. He decided to ask Lily where you were and was absolutely not prepared for her answer.
âShe went to Beauxbatons.â Lily pursed her lips at the boy in front of her in disdain. She knew what had happened but couldnât help but pity him a little bit when he looked at her like that. Devastated.
Jamesâ world stopped and for a moment he thought he couldnât breathe. Did you leave? Had he managed to push you away to a whole different school? He thanked Lily for her answer and sat down at his own desk in a daze. His body moved on autopilot for the next few days. He was falling into a routine that he didnât like.
During free periods, he hid out in the wardrobe, face up towards the ceiling as he imagined you were lying in his arms right then.
You had been gone for a week and a half and had returned to Hogwarts. Feeling lighter in your heart and decisive steps carrying you towards the Gryffindor Quidditch stands, right on time for the match.
You saw James and your heart jumped. He looked good. He had definitely looked better before, but all in all, he looked good. You bit your lip, suddenly insecure and doubting his promise to wait for you. Another twenty points for Gryffindor and admired James from the distance.
When you had arrived at Beauxbatons, you had wallowed in self pity for a day or two before your friends had pulled you out of it and reasoned with you. Surprisingly on Jamesâ behalf.
You knew they were right. You were madly in love with James and he was undoubtedly madly in love with you too. Though it had all started off as a bet, how could you stay upset when it only brought you and James together.
James eyes scanned through the crowd, automatically trailing to the spot where you two had been sitting and kissed during your first date. He had to do a double take when he saw you in the crowds and almost fell off his broomstick when he rubbed his eyes with both hands to make sure he wasnât dreaming.
He started making his way towards you when his eyes locked onto the golden snitch. His eyes flickered between you and the snitch, but you had seen it too, so you flashed him a grin. His shoulders relaxed, and he started the chase.
âDarling?â James appeared in the doorway to the boyâs changing rooms.
âJames,â you nodded. You were smiling at him, and your warm, inviting tone had him move forward until you were within reach.
âIâve missed you so much, I thought I lost you.â
âHm, youâre just lucky that I really really love you too.â You sassed back. James was in front of you in two big steps. âYeah?â he asked a twinkle in his eye. âJust like that? No grovelling? No conditions?â
You kissed him. âWould you like me to include grovelling?â you laughed at him.
âYeah actually. You see, Iâve already prepared at least eight different ways to make up to you.â
He pressed his lips to yours again.
âGet a room!â Sirius yelled and you shot him a sour look. He held up his hands in surrender, a shit eating grin still present on his face.
âFine, but donât expect your captain back for the celebratory party. Heâs mine tonight,â you shot back.
âAnd every other night, I hope?â James coyly smiled at you. You shook your head in amusement and dragged him away, hand slipping to rest on his ass, his own hand finding its way to yours.
âLead the way, Darling.â

hi! this is my first request but i was wondering if you could do poly!marauders or any characters with reader whoâs in a wheelchair? i saw your mute!reader and loved it so much! iâm a wheelchair user myself with limited mobility in my hands and i never see readers that resonate with me. if you canât, thatâs totally understandable though!
side note; but i can literally picture sirius and james trying to push the wheelchair and popping wheelies or even racing LMFAOOO
this is so cute! thanks so much for the request, I hope I did it justice! & the second part is absolutely not based off of a frequent scenario when me and my friend who is a wheelchair user go to restaurants đ
poly!marauders x fem!reader who is a wheelchair user
CW: fluff, simping marauders, Remus advocating heavily for reader's independence, James just wanting to spoil reader, Sirius being the master of deduction, subtle/casual ableism
âDo you want a break, dove?â Remus asked pointedly; mostly making a statement to James and less concerned that you werenât speaking up for yourself.Â
âI donât mind a break.â You said easily as you smiled up at James above you.
âYes, but dove, do you want a break?â Remus asked again, moving to stand in front of you so you were forced to stop and look at him.
âMy arms are a little tired, and this street does seem to have a bit of an incline. Iâm happy to have James push me for a bit, Rem.â You assured him, though you hoped that your gratitude for his staunch defense of your independence shone through.Â
âShe knows I just like spoiling her.â James gloated as he bent overtop of you, pressing a âspiderman kissâ to your lips before straightening up and speeding up the street.Â
âItâs less that you like to spoil her and more that you like trying new tricks.â Sirius commented as he fell into step with Remus.
âIt can be both!â James argued; laughing as you squealed when he âpopped a wheelieâ.
âProngs, if you break her wheelchair I swear to God.â Remus threatened.
âIâm not gonna break it!â James argued before bending down to murmur into your ear. âIâm not gonna break it, am I?â
You chuckled as you leaned to press the side of your face to his cheek. âNo youâre okay; just donât get too rowdy.â
âYes maâam.â He agreed readily.Â
âGod Iâm starved.â Sirius grumbled then. âAre you lot hungry?â
âI could eat!â James offered.
âItâd be nice to sit down for a bit; are you hungry, dove?â Remus asked. You looked up and down the street; happy to notice that even in this older part of town, there were plenty of wheelchair ramps.Â
âYeah, I think that should be fine.â You offered; though Sirius seemed to sniff out your hesitation as he quickly rushed over to plant his face against the window of a nearby establishment.Â
âNot to worry, doll; this one looks good!â Siriusâ shout was muffled from where he was pressed up against the glass of a restaurant he deemed worthy of the four of you.
âTheyâre likely not going to allow us entrance with a hellian like you.â You teased half-heartedly - feeling really quite thankful for his easy deduction and thoughtfulness that not everyone put into finding accessible venues - as you took over guiding your chair and James relinquished his hold on your handles.Â
âWhy not? I thought they had to allow service dogs?â James taunted, causing Sirius to scoff indignantly and launch himself at James which quickly turned into a playful brawl right outside of the restaurant.Â
âGood lord, we really canât take them anywhere, can we?â Remus muttered as he came over and rested his hip against you, watching with a look of ill-hidden admiration for your two somewhat chaotic boyfriends.
âOi!â You shouted, causing the two of them to split apart hastily, not unlike naughty school children caught scuffling on school grounds. âI thought I was being promised food?â
âSorry angel!â James called at the same time Sirius said âand food you will get, princess.âÂ
The four of you headed towards the restaurant; James running up to hold the door for you all and Sirius patting his arse on his way by, followed by you and then Remus.Â
Sirius, in all his casual panache, sauntered up to the hostess desk to ask for a table for four.
âSounds great!â The hostess chirped back, visibly excited for the attention of a very attractive man. âWould you like a table or a booth?â
All three boys slowly turned to face you; Sirius fighting the urge to shake his head in second-hand embarrassment, James looking at you with a sort of frustrated bemusement, and Remus who shared a knowing smirk with you as they all allowed you to field the question.
âErm, I think perhaps a table would be best, if you didnât mind?â You asked the hostess with a smile, trying to bite back a chuckle at the way the blood seemed to drain from her face.
âOh! Yes! Of course; terribly sorry, I- erm, right this way!â She sputtered, turning on her heel and walking - quite briskly - towards whichever table she deigned to seat you lot at as if she were hoping to quickly rid herself of this awkward situation.Â
Remus, tapping your shoulder first to ask permission, took over driving for you so as to keep up with the rest of your party.
You felt a little bit bad for the hostess who kept turning to offer you apologetic smiles as you and Remus tried not to laugh at her expense. It wasnât really her fault; she was simply reciting a script she likely had to ask nearly 100 times a day.Â
But the way you saw it; if you had to deal with societyâs subtle ableism, you were entitled to a few chuckles at their expense.Â
You made sure to thank the hostess as she removed the fourth chair from your table before she left.
âI love watching people squirm like that.â Sirius commented as he sat down.
âDonât be mean.â You admonished. âShe didnât know.â
âWell she ought to know.â James grumbled then.Â
âIâm not that fussed; itâs kind of funny.â You said then as you reached for a glass of water; James quickly leaning forward to grab it for you.
âShe can grab herself a glass of water, bubs.â Remus chided tiredly then, shooting you an apologetic look.Â
âYes but she shouldnât have to, Rem. Don't act like I don't do the same for you when your joints are acting up.â James responded as he handed your drink to you carefully before pressing a smacking kiss to your cheek.
You winked sympathetically at Remus as his face flushed in embarrassment.Â
âThe only difference is that she gets the princess treatment 24/7.â Sirius added with a wink as he pulled Remus roughly into his side.Â
And though youâd likely never admit it out loud, you couldnât deny that you sort of loved the princess treatment.

(y/n).
Depending on who you asked, it was only a name. The name of a classmate, or a friend, or yourself, but only a name nonetheless.
Unless you asked James Potter.
It wasnât only a name. Not to him. To James, it was everything.
Because it was your name.
Your name that hastened his heartbeat with every mention.
Your name that sent a salient stream of blood rushing to his cheeks, tinting them a lucent shade of scarlet.
Your name that, once mentioned, seemed to follow him everywhere, as though the wind itself would begin whispering it, rustling alongside the branches of the whomping willow tree before floating its way over to his ears, sounding sweeter than any melody heâd ever heard before.
To state it simply, James Potter was irrevocably, inconceivably, in love with you.
But saying it that way didnât seem like enough.
He didnât just love you with his heart, for his heart could stop beating. And he didnât only love you with his mind, for his memories could fail him one day. James Potter loved you with the entirety of his soul, with every fibre making up his being. Of that, he was certain.
What he wasnât certain of however, was how to bare his infatuated soul to you.
After all, how exactly does one tell his best friend heâs besotted with her?
He tried the gentle approach first.Â
The train back to Hogwarts was filling up quickly. Stories of his peersâ summer holidays flow obstreperously through the air as Jamesâ eyes remain glued to the door of him and his friendsâ usual compartment.
âEase off it with the evil eye, Prongs. Sheâll be here.â Siriusâ teasing voice breaks James away from his thoughts, which were unsurprisingly fixated on you.
He doesnât bother denying it, well aware heâs been staring daggers at the door since he stepped foot off platform 9 ž, anxiously awaiting your appearance after spending the entire summer holiday apart from you.
âLeave him be, Pads. He misses her.â Remus interjects kindly, not lifting his eyes from the well-worn pages of whichever book heâs decided to burrow his attention into for the ride back to Hogwarts.
âWell he can join the bloody club then, canât he?â Sirius starts, intent on ignoring Remusâ suggestion, âIâve just about fallen for her myself after spending my entire holiday listening to this git recite his bloody sonnets for her,â he continues with a not-so flattering mimicry of a lovesick James, âIt is the east! And (y/n) is the sun. O Romeo!â He throws himself dramatically to the floor on his knees, clasping his hands above his heart.
Peter watches the spectacle with a grin, covering up his chuckle with a cough after James sends him a look of warning. Before James can defend himself against Siriusâ melodrama, the door to their compartment slides open, revealing a beautiful and slightly out of breath you.
And suddenly youâre not the only one whoâs out of breath.
Youâve gotten even prettier over the summer, somehow. If somebody had asked James before, if he thought you could possibly have gotten any more beautiful, heâdâve laughed in their face, telling them tales of how your beauty could put Aphrodite to shame. But now? Now his heart was beating so violently in his chest he was almost certain it was attempting to escape, trying to take its rightful place upon your sleeve.
âSorry Iâm late, I nearly broke my neck out there!â You stop briefly to catch your breath, the jog on your way over winding you more than youâd care to admit. âSomeone ought to tell those first-years thereâs enough seats on here for the lot of us. Iâve just been walloped by a bloody eleven year old! Cheeky little-â You cease your rambling amidst your confusion at the sight before you, Sirius on his knees at Jamesâ feet.
âHave I interrupted something? Perhaps a proposal of sorts?â You jest, your amusement growing at the wide eyed look on Jamesâ face as he scrambles to stand, coming to greet you properly with a hug that doesnât last nearly as long as you wish it would.
âNo!â He protests instantly, amidst wrapping you in the soft embrace.
âCor, Iâve missed you.â He mumbles after pulling away, leaving a hand on your back as he gently guides you to your seat beside him, hesitant to do so, as once youâre sat heâll no longer have an excuse to touch you.
âI missed you more!â Your enthusiasm brings him optimism, thereâs a chance she means it the way you do, he thinks, thereâs a chance-
âAnd what of me?â Sirius and his bloody interjections. James has half a mind to lock him out of the ruddy compartment and leave him to fend for himself amongst the overzealous first-years.
âIâm sorry, have we met?â You feign confusion, though not very well, James can see the brilliant smile forming leisurely upon your lips. What I would do to those lips, his thoughts are running rampant after a summer spent away from your presence, too caught up to hear the jokes you and Sirius are trading back and forth, and that laugh! His internal monologue continues, âs like a proper bloody song. Just ask her, right now. If she says no you can play it off as a joke. It might sting a bit, but surely itâd be better than keeping it all locked away.
âWill you go to Hogsmeade with me? Just us two? Weâll have a lovely time, I swear it.â
He knows what he was hoping youâd say, something along the lines of âYes, James, Iâd love to!â but he wasnât expecting it.
He also wasnât expecting your given response.
âThatâs a wonderful idea, Jamie, thank you! Dâyou see that, Sirius? A helpful suggestion. You ought to try one of those sometime.â Youâre back to chatting with Sirius and Remus as Peter leans over to James, whispering an explanation to his visibly confused friend.
James had caught you mid-complaint about how youâd forgotten to bring the dittany leaves you need to make the special healing chocolates you gift Remus after a particularly bad full moon. After Siriusâ not-so-helpful suggestion to try substituting them with pot leaves, you gladly welcomed the chance to pop over to Hogsmeade with James and buy some more.
Youâd mistaken his date proposal for a shopping trip.
Marvellous.
This is going to be the year that James tells you how he feels. Heâll make sure of it.
If for no other reason than this was your seventh and final year at Hogwarts together. His stomach churned at the mere idea of allowing you to slip through his fingers for good; you acting as the coarse sand to his adamant hourglass. He wouldnât have it.
So heâd try again.
In the few weeks since youâve returned to Hogwarts, your timeâs been consumed by studying for your N.E.W.T.s. Youâre also determined to acquire a spot in the internship programme at St. Mungoâs. The sheer amount of time youâve spent there with your boys over the last few years has more than prepared you for a future as a healer if you end up enjoying the work.
âAlright, who was the first witch to extract floo powder?â James has spent the last hour and a half quizzing you on all matters Herbology, if it were anyone else heâdâve been bored to slumber by now. But it wasnât anyone else, it was you.
The two of you were sat outside together on a blanket, taking full advantage of the uncharacteristically sunny day. James is leaned comfortably back against a tree as you sit across from him, simultaneously taking notes and answering each of his questions without pause.
âIgnatia Wildsmith. Ravenclaw. Come âead James, Iâve told you to stop going easy on me! Every seventh-year applying will know all of these.â Bloody lucky I love her so much, James thinks to himself, I thought that was a hard one.
Heâd like to laugh your nerves away, crack a few jokes and tell you that you may be going a bit overboard. Youâre going to get the internship, and not just because youâre brilliant and perfectly qualified, but also because your Herbology professor had written a glowing recommendation letter singing your praises.
But he canât find it in himself to mess around when youâve got that adorable little wrinkle between your eyebrows displaying your worry, and your lips have turned down into a delectably kissable pout. It takes nearly everything in him not to brush it away with his own lips.Â
â(y/n),â He starts, wetting his lips with his tongue as he desperately attempts to keep his thoughts from overtaking his voice, âItâs going to be alright, I promise. Youâre more than ready for this. Why donât we try taking a little break?â His heart feels as though itâs leapt into his throat when you glance at him and send a delicate smile of gratitude.
âIâm sorry, Jamie. Weâve been at this for hours, you must be exhausted of me by now.â You smile, more cheerful this time as you realize a break is precisely what you need.
James canât contain the laugh that escapes him.
Exhausted? Of you?Â
The absurdity of thinking he could ever grow tired of you was an inherently laughable concept to him.
Heâs nearly clutching his stomach when he finally manages to compose himself, making heart-stopping eye contact with his equally amused and puzzled best friend.
âAre you mad?â Jamesâ dimpled smile sets a kaleidoscope of butterflies aflutter in your stomach, âIâd spend all my hours with you if I could.â He means it with every atom that makes up his being, heâs meant it for years but now heâs actually saying it to you.
Your smile grows wider with each word he speaks, your own thoughts matching the underlying sentiment of his articulation more than he could ever know.
âI-â He pauses, inhaling deeply and squeezing his eyes shut tightly in an effort to maintain his courage, âI love you.â You did it, he thinks to himself proudly, you actually bloody did it, Prongs! He exhales shakily, reinitiating eye contact with you as a small smile begins to blossom on his tender lips.
âJames,â Your voice holds an underlying tone of sadness that causes an adorable crinkle of confusion to settle between Jamesâ eyebrows, âI love you too.â You smile tightly, almost as though itâs causing you discomfort to do so.
âYou do?â James is more perplexed now than he had been when youâd explained to him in painstaking detail the intricate relationships between each member of Fleetwood Mac the first time the two of you listened to Rumours together.
âOf course I do,â Your smile stretches intimately, the somber quality of your voice never wavering, âYouâre my best mate, after all.â
Best mate? James thinks, is that really all she sees?
Had he not been so caught up in his own racing thoughts, he may have picked up on yours. He may have realized that his situation was holding a gargantuan mirror up to your own, casting a perfect reflection of the feelings within.
Best mates, you internally chastise yourself, thatâs all he sees.
A proper bloody mirror.
âIt was completely humiliating, Pads. She might as wellâve called me her bloody brother.â James has been yammering on about what happened that day for the past three weeks. Three weeks. Sirius is going positively mad, somehow having become Jamesâ sounding board to rehash his complaints every time he remembers the encounter.
âI mean, how am I supposed to tell the girl Iâd like to spend the rest of my life with her now?â James is pacing back and forth agitatedly at the foot of Siriusâ bed, as the aforementioned boy lays back uninterestedly, wishing his duvet would come to life and swallow him whole in an effort to escape the worlds most redundant conversation.
âSheâd probably tell you that sounds lovely. Make you her future childâs godparent.â Sirius jokes dryly.
James abandons his invisible footpath, a wave of panic comically widening his warm hazel eyes substantially.
âShe what?â
âFor Merlinâs sake, Prongs! I canât take any more of this,â Sirius sits up agitatedly, now far beyond his capacity for Jamesâ lovesick commentaries, âJust go tell her. Right now.â
âAre you mad? Have you not just heard everything Iâve said?â James would normally find humour in Siriusâ lackadaisical attitude, but confessing his feelings for you was an entirely serious matter with no margin for error.
âOh Iâve heard it, Prongs. For the past three weeks. And the entire bloody summer. And every single year before that.â He moves to stand in front of James, his agitation fading into sincerity, âI know how you feel, Prongs. But does she?â James swallows thickly as Sirius continues, âI donât mean just telling her you love her, I mean telling her how you love her. As more than a friend. Maybe she feels the same way.â
James takes his time considering Siriusâ words. Heâs tried to tell you, clearly, but he assumed that youâd only seen him as a friend. But what if you hadnât? What if Sirius is right, and you told him you loved him as a friend because youâd assumed thatâs what heâd meant when he said it?
âIâm a proper git, arenât I?â James concludes aloud.
âMost certainly, Prongsy. Itâs why I keep you around,â Siriusâ playful mood returns swiftly, âMakes me feel better about myself.âÂ
Youâre talking softly with Remus in the library, voices low enough not to disrupt your peers but just detectable enough for James to catch your words when he finds you, internally preparing his declaration of unwavering devotion for you.
âYouâre not going out with him, are you?â Remusâ hushed voice holds a curious tone.
âOf course not, Rem.â You smile softly, âCould you honestly imagine that? Him and I dating?â
Jamesâ eyebrows furrow together in confusion, he presses himself slightly against a nearby bookshelf in an attempt to hear your conversation more clearly.
âNo, I guess not,â Remus chuckles faintly, âIt would certainly make things awkward if they didnât work out. Being friends and all.âÂ
âNo kidding.â You chuckle good-naturedly.Â
James feels like a bag of cement has been poured down his throat, constricting his lungs and settling into a block of concrete in the pit of his stomach.
Sirius had been wrong. You didnât love James as more than a friend, in fact, youâd practically laughed at the thought of it. In his hasty escape from the scene of the melancholic crime, James neglected to hear the rest of your conversation with Remus.
âHeâs a lovely lad, truly,â You smile genuinely, âAny girl would be lucky to call Amos Diggory her boyfriend. Weâre just better as friends is all.â You trail off, leaving out the part where your heart already belongs to another shared friend of yours and Remusâ.
Itâs not like it was ever going to happen anyway. Your love for James Potter was entirely unreciprocated.
Wasnât it?
James is avoiding you.
As painful as it is to spend each never-ending moment of spare time away from you, James can only think of how much more agonizing it would be to spend those moments with you.
To fix his loving gaze on your sparkling eyes, only to find them filled with affections one would hold only for a friend.
To accomplish the feat of bringing a luminous smile to your delicate lips, only to remember those lips would never brush tenderly against his own.
To be so close to the girl he loves, only to be denied her heart in equal measure.
Itâs easier, in a sense, to push you away.
Itâs only temporary, just until he can stomach the thought of spending the rest of his life as your best mate and nothing more.
But itâs been weeks, and the idea still makes his head feel like itâs underwater, like heâs fighting to reach the surface but his legâs been caught on a viciously determined blade of seaweed.
Still, heâs convinced himself that this is his best course of action.
Unbeknownst to James, however, youâve been going stark raving mad.
Youâve hardly spoken to him in weeks. When you think about it, youâve barely even seen him, save for a few quick glimpses in your classes and across the dining tables in the Great Hall.
Youâve tried to talk to him, clearly something is bothering him. Maybe youâve said or done something to upset him without realizing it. But heâd brushed you off before you could even get out the words âare you alright?â
Youâd asked Remus, Sirius, and Peter about it, each of them giving you vague semblances of justification that fell entirely flat, a few âHeâs just busy with quidditchâs and a couple of âMust be studying todayâs. Youâve grown tired of the excuses and youâre determined to get to the bottom of it yourself.
Youâre leaning picturesquely against the wall outside of the ladâs changing room when James finally sees you again. His curly hair is spilling droplets of water from the shower heâs just taken, successfully washing away the evidence of his quidditch practice.
Youâre beautiful. Thatâs all he can think as he finally allows himself to take you in fully for the first time in weeks. He feels like heâs been holding his breath since he saw you last and now he can finally exhale, a sense of euphoria filling his chest as his lungs deflate mercifully.
âHi.â You state gently, a delicate smile painted daintily across your lips.
âHi.â James echoes once heâs relearned the inhale-exhale repetition of breathing again.
âI waited for you,â You start after a brief silence, âWhich- You can see that, obviously.â You chuckle a ebullient breath that causes a small smile to form on Jamesâ face, Merlin, Iâve missed that, he thinks as you continue. âI just, um- I thought maybe we could talk?â Youâre fiddling with your fingers, a nervous habit of yours that James has long since memorized by now.
He instantly reaches for your hands, tenderly taking one in his own and carefully intertwining your fingers together with his. The action is like second nature, he hardly thinks twice about it.
You smile visibly at the act of comfort, if heâs upset with you and thatâs the reason heâs been avoiding you, it makes your heart skip a beat that heâs putting it all aside to calm you down when youâre anxious.
âAbout what?â He tries, though you both know thatâs not going to work.
âNice,â You smile teasingly, âWant to give it a real go this time?â
James swallows something akin to a lump in his throat, averting his resplendent hazel gaze from your eyes to land somewhere along the floor as he overthinks which approach he should take.
He could try honesty. Yes, he thinks, because that would go over proper well. Iâm avoiding you cause Iâve been gutted since I heard youâre not in love with me. Surely sheâll find that real mature, Prongs.
He could also try lying his arse off. And that would work, he sarcastically chastises silently, Me? Oh nothingâs wrong at all. Just tired, yâknow? Practice and homework and the like. As if sheâs ever believed a lie youâve told her before.
He finally chances resuming eye contact with you, heartbeat hastening expeditiously as his hazel orbs lock onto your patently awaiting eyes. You should be looking far more frustrated, James wouldnât blame you if you were. You have every right to be upset, and yet youâre not.
Instead, youâre you.Â
You, whoâs calmly awaiting a response, fingers still gently intertwined with Jamesâ.Â
You, whoâs looking at him with soft, sparkling eyes, eyes that are silently promising him no matter what he says, everything is going to be alright.
You, the girl he loves more than anything in the world.
âYou.â He states after an implicit eternity.
âMe?â Your features mix together to create a perfectly darling display of confusion that, even despite the circumstances, causes a modest smile to tug upwards at the corners of Jamesâ mouth.
âIâve been avoiding you.â He conveys, sounding as though heâs just revealed to you a hidden secret youâdâve never otherwise been able to uncover.
You canât contain the short laugh that escapes you, a smile taking its rightful place on your face. âYeah, âm not exactly Sherlock Holmes, but I managed to put that one together.â
James canât subdue the traces of guilt that seep onto his face.
âI was hoping maybe we could talk about why. If Iâve done something to upset you-â
âNo!â James cuts you off, âNo, love, you havenât done anything. Nothing you could control anyway.â His voice is less than half of its usual volume at the last sentence he utters.
Your face is back to holding that adorably confused expression that James so desperately yearns to kiss away.
âI have to admit, Jamie, Iâve got no idea what youâre on about.â
James sighs, finally releasing the hand thatâs been holding comfortably on to your own and running it through his leisurely drying hair. He releases a sigh of distress and squeezes his eyes shut firmly in an attempt to figure out the best way to explain himself.
âIf youâre not upset with me, then why have you been avoiding me?â Youâre trying to put it together on your own as James is proving to be no help, âWait a mo! Is this some kind of prank or something?â You smile, though youâre not entirely certain youâre correct yet, âAre you trying to get back at me for dying your knickers pink? Because that was an accident!âÂ
James canât help but smile at your incorrect deduction. Merlin sheâs adorable he thinks, how am I supposed to tell her now?
âYes!â James concludes untruthfully, âYou got me. Just a prank. Mightâve gone a bit too far with it though. Sorry âbout that, love.â
He brings you into a hug and, after going weeks without it, it feels like home.
You feel like home.
Youâre hugging James, after having just gone weeks without it. And you just know.Â
You have to tell him.
You have to tell him, right now, that youâre in love with him.
And so you do.
âI love you.â You state breathlessly, pulling away from the warm solace of his embrace and looking bravely into his glimmering hazel eyes.
James nods his head mechanically, as if heâs agreeing to your suggestion on what to have for dinner and not taking in the confession of eternal love youâve just spouted.
âYes, I love you too,â He smiles a tight, strained smile, âMate.â He punctuates his final word by bumping his fist gently into your shoulder.
Oh, you think, Iâm going to have to spell it out for him, arenât I?
âNo, James. I love you,â You take a step closer to him, not breaking eye contact despite the nerves that are jostling around your insides like a violent sea in a raging storm, taking a deep breath before exhaling somewhat expeditiously, you continue, âLike- Like, Iâm in love with you.â
The first thing James feels in that moment are his eyes widening emphatically behind his round-rimmed glasses, his dark lashes making direct contact with the top of his eyelids. Heâs certain he must have heard you wrong, that or heâs understood you wrong.
The second thing he feels is hope. What if he hadnât understood you wrong?
The third thing he feels is his heart, beating faster than it ever has before, so fast he thinks it might be ready to do him in for good. Surely a heart shouldnât be beating that fast.
âYouâre in love? With me?â James speaks disbelievingly, though heâs unable to hide the traces of optimism heâs feeling as a modest smile begins to form on his face.
You nod your head assuredly, a genial smile of your own starting at the sight of his, âYes, Iâm in love with you. Madly, in fact.â
Youâve spent months, years even, deliberating on how you would tell James, if you would tell James. Youâd spent countless hours wondering how he would react and what would happen after all was said and done.
Youâd planned to tell him all about that. About how long youâve felt this way, when it started and why itâs taken you so long to tell him, how you were too afraid of risking your best friend should anything have gone wrong.
What you hadnât planned on was what happened the second you got the last word out.
James eagerly presses his plush lips onto your own, savouring the long overdue sensation of your mouth against his. He tenderly brushes your bottom lip with his tongue once he feels you respond to the kiss with equal fervour. Enthusiastically, you grant his tongue access into your mouth, pulling him closer to you by the roots of his damp hair.
James lets out a low groan at the contact, pulling you flush against his body by your waist, his hands hungrily gripping onto you for dear life as, somehow, the kiss deepens even further.
When the need for oxygen outweighs your mutual need for each others lips, you reluctantly part the slightest of distances, foreheads resting tenderly against one another.
âIâm in love you too. So bloody madly.â James whispers contentedly with a lovesick grin.Â
Youâre each donning smiles brighter than you can ever recall before.
The moment youâve caught your breath youâre back at it again in full force, gripping at each others clothes and tangling nimble fingers through the otherâs hair. James pulls back when your beaming smile makes it a little harder for him to kiss you, returning a smile just as wide that compels you to pull him back in for another kiss, or two, or three.
When the two of you finally feel satiated enough, James pulls back again, a noticeably farther distance. Heâs still smiling but it isnât quite as bright as it was a moment ago.
âWhat was all that about in the library, then? With Moony?â He asks you the question thatâs been clawing at his insides for the last few weeks.
You pause, visibly confused as you shuffle through the files of your memories until you land on one a few weeks ago with Remus in the library. The two of you were discussing a friend whoâd asked you on a date. Youâd declined as politely as you could, valuing his friendship but knowing your heart had long since been beating for James.
âWhat about it?â You smile confusedly.
âWell, you were talking about me, werenât you?â James looks down to the floor, expression now almost devoid of the happiness that had previously overtaken every inch of his face.
âWhat?â You laugh briefly before it registers, not just his words, but the reason heâs been avoiding you for the last few weeks.
âWait- James!â You tilt your head into his line of vision, gently cradling his face with your hand as you turn his head to face you fully, âIs that why youâve been avoiding me? You thought.. Oh, Merlin.â
You pull him into a hug, holding him tight enough to convey just how wrong heâs been.
âI was talking about Amos Diggory.â You state with a gentle exhale, something between a laugh and a sigh, pulling back you rest your arms at your sides. âHe asked me to dinner.â
James doesnât hide the relief that courses through his body, despite the slight scoff of jealousy he lets out at your final sentence.
âBut,â You wrap your arms back around him in reassurance, looking up into his eyes that are once again sparkling with happiness, âIâve been a tad busy, being in love with my best friend and all. So I told him no. Obviously.â
âRight, obviously.â James replies with a cheeky smile that makes your heart skip a beat.
âYouâre a git, you know.â You roll your eyes, the action a mixture of lovesickness and frustration. âYou couldâve just asked me then. Instead of hiding in the books like a proper stalker. And then avoiding me. For weeks,â Youâre smiling, but you know youâre still getting your point across, âYou git.â You punctuate your final word with a gentle swat to Jamesâ chest, smiling adoringly when he grabs that hand and brings it up to his lips, placing a tender kiss to it before dropping your intertwined hands back at your side.
âI know,â He admits apologetically, âIâm sorry.â Heâs smiling breathtakingly, âStill love me?â
You canât find it in yourself to be upset with him, because in some roundabout way, itâs what led you to this moment right now, where you can reach over and kiss him if you want to.
And you want to.Â
Pulling him into you by the fabric of his shirt, you plant another kiss upon Jamesâ lips. The passion and tenderness in the kiss meld together just as perfectly as your lips do.
âYes.â You mumble happily when your mouths finally break apart. âAlways.â

Everyone knew Remus Lupin could be a bit of a push over.Â
Now, that's not to say he wasn't stern and serious when he needed to be, when he knew what was best, or just when Sirius said much of anything that started with âHear me out.â
He was a Prefect, he was known for being a certain quality of student. Studious, always in the library studying with Lily Evans and {Y/N} {L/N}. Wise beyond his years, helping anyone who needed it. He volunteered to help tutor some of the first years with {Y/N} most Sunday evenings. Punctural, made a point to be on time to everything. Well, if he could help it, you did like to sleep in.
Not many people noticed the common theme in his actions. The traits that made up the Lycan were so tightly woven into his friendships, well, more particularly his friendship with you. He never gave up who he was, he never went that far, but it was clear that in the forethought of his, you were in every equation. Sirius certainly noticed.
Sirius would bemoan about it all the time, how you both insisted you were friends, absolutely clueless. He stood by it, however, friends don't look at eachother like you do. Remus insisted you were friends. Best friends.
The feeling was mutual, of course it was. Who doesn't want to spend every second of the day with their platonic soulmate? You would make a point to drag him around with you everywhere you went. You were never shy about it, your words slowly going from questioning to affirmatives.Â
âRemus, I am heading to lunch now, come with me?â
âRemus, we are going to the Black Lake, it's hot.â
âRemus, I have Quidditch practice.â
That was another trait of Remus Lupin. He could care less about Quidditch, but not much less. He would complain about going, as he followed you upstairs to your dorm to help bring your gear down. Would try to decipher the ridiculous rules while finding a seat in the stands with Lily and Mary, both coming to support their respective partners.
That's how you got here now, same routine. You were floating above the stands, even as a backup beater you still had to attend every practice. You would complain to James about it, seeing as you only agreed to it as a favor, but he would tease you about it every time. He was lucky some stuff he said was funny. He so rarely was.
You watched Sirius, who was currently the one you were assigned to tag out. It was a lot of time wasted, just floating near your friends and talking when you were sure James didn't notice. Eventually, you turned to Remus in the stands and smiled to see him furrowing his brow at the strange reps James was making the two beaters do.Â
âRem!â You called over to him and lowered down to his eye level, still a good few yards away from them. He looked up at you and lifted an eyebrow.Â
âYeah?â
âKnock knock!â
He looked at you confused before Lily nudged him. âThe muggle joke?â
He furrowed his eyebrows at her next before they shot up in realization. âAh! Who's knocking?â He called over and you threw your head back in a laugh as Lily covered her mouth with a snicker. Mary holding Lily's shoulder as Remus looked at you three incredulously.Â
âThat's the bloody line, right?â
âWho's there?â Lily laughed out, and you began to dry your tears.
âTank!â
âTank who?â
âYou're welc-â Before you could even finish the line there was a loud thud and your head jerked forward. You were confused for a moment, smile slowly falling as you looked at the three.
Everything was slowing down, and no matter how hard you squinted, your vision continued to blur. Suddenly, and gradually, hot burning pain rushed threw the back of your head. It was so jarring you teared up, and you could faintly hear a bunch of voices, but you couldn't make out what they said. Slowly, your grip on your broom lessened.Â
Warm drops of what you could only assume was your own ichor dropped down your face. Then, your vision started to flash. You were far too loopy to panic, images of you on your broom slipped into a slideshow of you falling, that ended right before you hit the ground.
~~~
âShe'll need to rest for the next two days for it to heal, her head is fine but her leg will need some getting used to. Two days in a cast should do her fine.â
Madam Pomfreyâs voice filled the room and you stirred with a whine. Eyes fluttering open and blinded by the lights above.Â
âUgh.. my headâŚâ You groaned, bringing your wrist to your throbbing temple. You fluttered open your eyes and looked around you, seeing James pacing the room and Sirius in front him, while Remus seemed to be shouting at him. Your ears began to ring as your blood rushed, so you couldn't hear him, but you could see the vain in his neck bulging out at his irritation. His tanned face a deep red, and Sirius looked apologetic, just taking the verbal battering.
There was a hand on your shoulder and you turned to see Lily and Mary sitting on the chairs beside you, Peter was behind them smiling softly. âHey,â You couldn't hear him, but you could see his lips moving. You frowned as the words became more elaborate so you couldn't quite track them.
You looked around at your friends' concerned faces. Lily looked past you and you turned, seeing Remus was kneeling by your bed and saying something you couldn't hear. You huffed and rubbed your temple, closing your eyes. The ringing slowly stopped, but the sounds of the room never returned. You opened your eyes and Remus was looking at you, filled with concern. âStarlight?â
That was a mouth shape you recognized. You reached out to touch his hand and squeeze it, blinking a bit before you spoke. âI can't hear a damned thing. But did you get my joke?âÂ
You watched as Remus seemed to go through the five stages of grief, before he settled on giving you the most unamused, annoyed, dead inside look you had ever witnessed. That made you smile. Well, smirk, mischievously. âThat joke is literal gold, you just don't know talent.â
This time, Remus stood up and walked over to madam Pomfrey and after a small exchange she walked off. You looked around the room idly, trying to pretend you weren't anxious, patting your palms against your blanket covered legs. You could see your friends talking, but you couldn't hear a thing. Your nerves were on end. They looked worried, but you tried your best to keep calm and collected. You knew that if you began to worry, show even a bit of panic or upset, everyone else would too. What was the point anyway? Panicking wouldn't fix your hearing.
At least you don't think so-
Eventually, a hand rested on your shoulder. It was comforting and large, your right hand instinctively crossed your body to rest on it. You turned and smiled up at Remus. He held out a parchment to you and it had large chicken scratch on it. You always found how messy his handwriting was hilarious. He thinks faster than he writes.
âYou broke your leg. Pomfrey says it has to stay in a cast for a day or two, as for your hearing, she says it's a trauma response. Your body will return it when it's ready.â
You scoffed and looked at your hands with an offended bravado. âWho says they get to pick when my hearing goes? No appreciation! I keep you alive, you dumb thing!â
You didn't notice how Remus laughed at how ridiculous you were being. He always admired how easily you could brush stuff so big off. Like when you found out about his condition.
âOh damn. That's.. so not the beeâs knees.â
Not the bee's knees. He had to have Lily explain that to him. Who in their right mind says that? To their friend in the hospital wing after confessing one of his most hated parts of himself?
He didn't know if he hated or loved you in that moment.
It grew on him, even if he denied it. You were just so damn strange.
âDarn, I guess no classes, hm?â You gave a faux sigh of disappointment. You turned to see Remus say something to Madam before turning back to you, smiling and waving his hand the quill began to write.
âShe says I can monitor you for classes, you should be fine.â
You gave him the dirtiest look you could muster.
âHey, Rem, so you actually suck a lot.â
~~~
Remus had insisted on walking you back to the Gryffindor commons, carrying your equipment the whole way. You had to use a cane for the time being, so the second you tried to pick up the heavy bag you about gave Remus a heart attack.
Sirius, still pouting even after you accepted his millionth apology, coasted behind you both. You really wish you knew what Remus had said to him.Â
When you got to your dorm Remus set your things down and set your bed up with a prop for your leg. You continued to complain about the special treatment as he nagged you for your messy side of the dorm while he was at it. You had to admit, Remus was incredibly sweet. It made your heart clench a bit at how much he seemed to care about your current state.Â
You sat on your bed, taking off your robe and letting it fall behind you. Watching Remus rant on, for once, a little sad you couldn't hear his lecture. He seemed so determined to make sure you were comfortable.
Little did you know, to Remus, this was the perfect opportunity to return your kindness. To repay you for all the nights you spent with him in the infirmary, the forgiveness and patience you extended to him during the days up to the full moon, and the doting you gave him after. Not to mention, it felt a bit domestic. He would process his guilt over it later, indulging up such a thought with you unaware.Â
Eventually, your roommates got annoyed with his rambling. Marlene threw a pillow at him and she grabbed you from behind making you almost scream in surprise.Â
She said something to Remus that made him look away bashfully, and he looked at you, mouthing a goodnight that you returned.
~~~
Remus was at your door early in the morning, which gave you a right scare. He offered you his hand and you looked at it before tilting your head at him curiously he mouthed something and you'd don't quite understand, slowly setting your hand in his extended one.
He gave several different expressions in the matter of a second, before he threw his head back in a laugh. Usually, you'd be embarrassed, but you ended up laughing along with him. He looked happy and you knew Remus would never make fun of you out of malice.
He calmed his breathing and lowered your hand back to your cane, before reaching over this time to take your books and make, your mouth opening and a low, âOoooohhh,â left you. He laughed at that too.
When you made it to breakfast you were talking animatedly and Remus was listening thoughtfully. He would occasionally make a nod or shake his head at some things you said, not able to face you with how your gaze was locked on him to gather all his micro expressions. He had set himself up for disaster.
Once you sat at the table and greeted everyone, you hardly paid attention to Remus. You focused mostly on your food.Â
You loved being around your friends, you did, but not being able to hear them was so isolating. You could see Remus talking to James, and by the look on his face, it was likely about something they had done they most certainly shouldn't have. You could see Lily, also giving James the most incredulous look ever.Â
Mary and Marlene were talking and glancing at the Hufflepuff table, but you couldn't gather a thing otherwise. Sirius was debating something with Peter who you could only describe as distressed. Some interesting hand movements later and a slap from Marlene, you could assume it was something vile. Soon, you gave in and just soaked up their presence. You didn't need to hear them to be a part of the group, just.. the conversation.Â
Suddenly, you gave a small yelp as your leg was lifted. Remus, without stoping his verbal battle with James, lifted your ankle and rested your hurt foot on his lap. You melted a bit, it was always the smaller things he did that let you know you had a best friend in him.Â
Just a best friend.
Even as his thumb trailed circles on your exposed knee, his forefingers resting on your inner thigh. Yup. Totally best friends.
~~~
Your leg ended up falling asleep like that. You playfully reprimanded him and he just gave you a laugh that you couldn't hear but your mind filled in the blanks. You noticed how proud and confident he seemed to be, taking care of you. It was sweet.
As you walked from class to class he carried your things and was there at your desk the second the bell rang. Then there were potions.
You shared potions with all of the boys and Lily, so you usually sat with Peter so Sirius could bum off of Remusâs hard work, leaving James to swoon while his girlfriend did all the work. You looked to the board and grimaced, wiggenweld. You knew it was a practice instead of theory day, but you were hoping for an easier potion.
To your surprise, Peter was sitting with a pouting Sirius, your usual spot cleared up. Before you could make a remark Remus put his things down and sat where Peter usually did. You found yourself smiling bright. âWhat the heck Remus?â You teased and sat down, once again, he lifted your leg onto his lap to keep it elevated.
Like a best friend would do.
âCan't leave me be for a half hour, Remmy?â You teased him as he took out his parchment and began to pull aside ingredients you couldn't reach with your stationary leg.
You were distracted storing out the ingredients by order and scribbling down notes on the more vague steps. You didn't get a chance to notice Remus smiling at you, his eyes sparking with new found fondness. âNo I can not.â He muttered to no one in particular.
Not noticing himself as Sirius gestured aggressively to you two in aspiration. Lily laughed at his display and James covered his mouth to hide his smile. Seems Remus was finally clued in.
You began to work on the potion as Slughorn dismissed the class to their assignments. You prepped the ingredients and fell into an easy and fluid motion with Remus. You didn't have a clue why you hadn't worked together before, you did everything together anyway, and Sirius could suck it.
Your friends watched as you smiled down at the horklump, rubbing a spoon over it threw a strainer, giving a laugh as it splattered on your face. Remus watched you, smiling softly. He seemed distracted the whole practical exam, but there wasn't a moment he wasn't listening to you.Â
Your test ended with a passing grade, that's all you really needed. Still, Remus apologized for being distracted.Â
Remus Lupin was a perfectionist in everything he did. He felt that even in his best moments he was seconds away from failing. He improved himself until there was nothing to improve upon. He aced assignments, mentored underclassmen, pulled off some of the most outrageous pranks in Hogwarts history, he even turned down the head boy position for James, everything he had done in the last seven years felt unsatisfactory. Apathy wasn't a foreign concept to him.
Neither was pity. Those two things were handed out to him in the eyes of everyone he'd ever met. No matter how far Remus came, disappointment was still holding him by his in a silent reminder that nothing would outshine the worst of him. It swallowed him whole most days, his self doubt. So he stayed distracted, chasing the high of praise and approval.Â
He was much like Sirius in that regard, but Sirius acted out and Remus did his best to go unnoticed by anyone other than the people closest to him. Unless it was about his achievements.
He wanted to be remarkable and unnoticed, it was the contradiction that was Remus Lupin.
You made him feel those two things, like he was the most important thing in the world, like you couldn't do anything without him. Then, you made him feel like a normal student. Like he was just someone in the herd. He liked that about you.
But having you depend on him, just today, there was something new brimming in his chest. He grappled with the realization that you being dependent on him for a change was more fulfilling than his collective five years of overshadowed achievements.
You seemed him out; when you found him you needed him. Not that it couldn't be anyone else, you chose him. Well, he volunteered, but when you looked up at him with those eyes of yours he knew you had no qualms with it. He felt strong, he felt needed, and he felt like he wasn't the one hurting.Â
{Y/N} {L/N} never needed anyone. You made that clear since first year, you were remarkably strange and friendly, you never filtered yourself out for anyone. You were you, that's all you needed to be. You didn't need to be witnessed to live.
But you wanted Remus to witness you.
He was learning that he loved to. To witness you.Â
Yet here you were, none the wiser, while Remus realized how far he had fallen for his best friend. And in all honesty;
He wasn't scared.
~~~
Once dinner came around you were reminded just how out of the loop you were without your hearing. You were poking at your meal with your head down, pushing around a bit of your uneaten food. Today had been long, and every break mostly consisted of you trailing after your group and watching them laugh and indulge in each other's presence.Â
You knew it wasn't the end of the world, tomorrow morning you would be cut free of your cast and eventually your hearing would come back.
It drove you mad not knowing when though. You knew it wouldn't stay forever, you were self assured in that fact, but knowing the possibility of it being weeks, months, Merlin, even a year? An entire year of not hearing your friends' voices. Dragging Remus down with you.
You didn't notice your friend's concerned look. Eventually, as you stared down at the fork in your hand, a note slid into your peripheral, it was Lily's handwriting, the only person you know to be able to flow her letters so perfectly.
âReady?â
You looked up to see people had started packing up. You nodded and began to stand, Remus slipping his hand behind your lower back making you jolt a bit. He flinched away and you immediately cursed, âcome baaaccck.â
~~~~
Your thoughts followed you to the common room. Before you could escape your friends, go allow yourself to mope, everyone insisted on drinking and talking.Â
You didn't want to. You really didn't. Remus was staying behind, however, and you know how much he hated when you'd leave him to be the only responsible drinker. Not that he had to worry too much, Mary always stayed sober to reel in Marlene.
You let yourself believe he just wanted to spend time with you.Â
So here you were, sitting on the couch, leaning you back against the arm rest and staring at the group as they talked. Your legs were resting over Remusâs, his lithe fingers rubbing up and down your exposed knee to the bottom of your skirt. Now, this was something Remus would never do, but you didn't even have time to enjoy the satisfying moment of slight intimacy, still too in the dumps.
Your frown deepened as you watched people get up to dance around you. Lily had put a song on the record, you only knew it to be âLove Grow(where my Rosemary goes)â by Edison Lighthouse, because of the album cover she brandished to James with a little wiggle of her eyebrows. One of your favorites.Â
At this point, your arms were crossed in a pout as you watched everyone dance but you and Remus. You blinked away those thoughts and turned to Remus.Â
âYou can go dance, I won't be offended.â You muttered out with a pout. He turned to look at you from the dancing figures. He seemed to come to some conclusion, and tapped your calf. You moved your legs and went back to watching the group before his hand was in your face. You looked up at him confused to see him offering it to you. You carefully took his hand and he lifted you up, leading you on the dance floor. You were wobbly, but he nudged your hurt foot until you arched it up, he took on most of your weight and you leaned into his chest to balance.
He began to sway, you laughed, and he beamed at how happy you seemed. It was ridiculous, you both looked ridiculous, Sirius gave a wolf whistle you couldn't hear and he couldn't give less of a fuck.Â
As you got more comfortable he pulled back and began to spin and slide with you. You were a giggling mess and he wrapped his arms around your waist and faced you away from him, making you tilt your head all the way back to see him. He could have died right there.Â
As the song faded out, you guys stopped your completely tone deaf moves, and he looked back with a dazzling smile at Lily who put on another song. He was panting, he could see all his friends watching with what seemed to be far too interested looks.
When his eyes went back to you, you were still staring up at him with a bright rush of affection. Somehow, always, Remus knew just what to do. Just what to say.Â
The song kicked up and Remus thinned his lips a bit.
âCanât Help Falling in Loveâ by Elvis Presley.Â
He knew he shouldn't. He should fool himself with something so intimate. But you were looking back at him with so much excitement, so much love, who the hell was he to say no?
⌠Wise men say
Only fools rush in
He nodded to you and you spun to face him again, leg swaying a bit from where you kept it up. You moved to put some space between you, but instead, he wrapped one hand around your lower back and took your other hand. His movements were identical to Marlene with Mary and James with Lily, Sirius even managed to get a girl from one of the many onlookers to dance with him. His being much more professional.
But I can't help falling in love with you
You were confused at first, but you wouldn't say you hated it. It was intimate, as he pulled your chest to his and gave you his smile now. You pressed your tongue to your cheek and smirked at him. He gave you a playful wink as you rolled your eyes.
Shall I stay?
Would it be a sin
If I can't help falling in love with you?
He gave you a slow and careful swirl, and when you returned to him, he pulled your head to his chest and rested his chin to your head.
⌠Like a river flows
Surely to the sea
Darling, so it goes
Some things are meant to be
He gave you a playful dip and you finally laughed, relaxing fully into the oddly familiar feeling. He's held you before, but never so carefully. Like he could loser you at any point if one thumb was misplaced.Â
⌠Take my hand
Take my whole life, too
He suddenly flattened out his hand against yours. You turned to look from where your face was peacefully nuzzled into his chest. You watched as he spread his fingers, and in turn, yours. Before he interlocked them. You bit your bottom lip and looked up at him. He was mouthing some of the lyrics, and you just managed to watch the last verse.
âFor I can't help falling in love with you.â
Your eyes widened. Was he.. was he serious? His eyes were staring into yours like he was putting himself on the line with those words. You took a deep breath and held it, as he leaned down towards you as you both slowed to a stop. You stared at his lips, waiting so patiently for his next words.
âI love you, {Y/N}.âÂ
The words looked so natural on his lips. You didn't know what to say. You knew what he said. You didn't have a doubt in your mind about it. You suddenly moved in and kissed him, eyes closed before you pulled away. It was quick, it was a bit hard. His lips were chapped and his eyes were still on yours when you opened them.Â
He looked stunned, and you couldn't hear the loud, âFinally!â From Sirius.
Nor could you hear Lilyâs delighted gasp when he moved in and kissed you again. His hands left your side and hand, grabbing your cheeks. His fingers loosen when you meet him halfway, moving down to your neck and resting his thumbs on your cheeks.
You broke the kiss again, forgetting how to breathe. His lips followed yours before his eyes fluttered but stayed closed. You looked at him in pure shock. What do you do now? What do you say? Did it matter?
Suddenly his face scrunched up and you narrowed your eyes a bit.
âOw ow ow ow..â Remus muttered and you flinched back when you read his lips. You had rested your casted foot against his toes. Wincing and apologizing like crazy, you moved too quickly and the weight shift caused you to fall back. He quickly caught you in a very deep dip. One hand around your neck and the other around your lower back. Your arms wrapped around his neck and everything was slow.
What a lovely cliche.Â
It got even better, as he lifted you closer and kissed you again. His hand from your neck sliding down to help keep your casted leg bent to his hip.Â
It was perfect.
~~~ Bonus Scene ~~~
You woke up to the sound of Marlene and Lily talking idly in your dorm room. A few days after the dancing and you and Remus had slipped from friends to more in such a simple and seamless mesh.Â
A mesh of messy kisses and rushed âI love youâs in the hall. Late night rendezvous in the common room grossing out your friends with all the stolen kisses and messy cuddles where limbs weren't easily identifiable in the dark.
You smiled softly, unable to tame how your heart clenched and a goofy smile took your lips. Then it hit you. You could hear.
You shot your head up and began tos scramble for Remusâs jumper he left over last night. Marlene and Lily snapping over to look at you but not getting a word in before you were dashing out of the room in just your pajama pants and his sweater.Â
You don't know how quickly you were running until you made it to his dorm. Your healed leg throbbing from lack of use but you couldn't care less. You slammed your way into the prefect dorms, Remus long since given you the password.
You ignored fussy prefects and walked right up to Remusâs dorm. You knocked in a rush, and the door opened to show James. You'd didn't even care to ask him why he wasn't in the Head Boy dorms, just shoving past him to hurry into the room.Â
Sirius looked up from a lounge chair in the corner and smirked when he saw you, opening his mouth to make a smart remark before you interrupted him.Â
âRemus?â
âStarlight?â Remus called out from the closet, stepping out in pajama pants as well, no short, and a towel in his messy hair. He couldn't help but smile at your rosey cheeked winded gasps, despite his confusion. âWhat are you-â
âSay it.â You demanded quickly and closed the gap between them. He looked at you confused before it suddenly hit him that you had responded and reacted to his words. You could hear him.
He let the towel fall from his hair to his shoulders as he wrapped his arms around your waist and brought you close. âSay what?â
âYou love me.â You commanded with puffy flustered cheeks. Suddenly so much less confident now that you faced him. He laughed and moved his hands to your cheeks.
âYou came running all the way here for that?â
âRemus, I've been waiting years.â
âI love you, {Y/N}.â He whispered and pulled you into a kiss. You smiled and gave a sigh of bliss into it. This time, you were able to hear Sirius wolf whistle behind you.
Remus woke up the next morning and sat up in his bed for a full minute thinking, what the fuck have I done? He had fucked his best friend's little sister, and the worst part was, he wanted to do it again. Remus rubbed over his eyes as he got up to use the bathroom. He splashed water on his face and tried to justify what had happened. It wasn't his fault that you teased him all weekend- with a surprising amount of stealth considering James was almost always around the two of you- and then made him feel your soaking panties when he tried to ask for your consent.
"Jesus fucking christ," Remus cursed, grabbing the sink and looking at himself in the mirror. He had to get a grip. By the time he had brushed his teeth, showered, and gotten dressed, it was lunch hours. Remus and the marauders strutted cheerfully down to the Great Hall, despite being at a party the night before. This was routine. Soon they'd be scarfing their faces with toast and sausage and sandwiches.
You had woken up a few minutes later and ended up walking to the Great Hall with Marlene and a few other girls. You were mildly hungover, though by this hour, you were ready to eat. When you walked through the doors, you spotted Remus immediately. He was already watching you as you walked towards the table, sitting down next to James as you did every morning.
"Mornin'," James greeted you, smiling through a mouthful of toast. You raised your brows and tried not to laugh for two reasons. James was staring at you like an idiot, and Remus was staring at your tits.
"Good morning," you laughed, hiding the smile on your lips. You started to fill your plate, intentionally looking away from Remus. He seemed to be nervous. Then you felt James fingers pull back your hair away from your neck.
"Y/N, do you have a hickey on your neck?" James sputtered, moving in closer to stare at it. Your eyes shot up to Remus who was currently looking away from you and your brother.
"So what," you scoffed, fussing his hand away. "You're the one who reminded me of my crush on Theodore. Now you're mad at me for it?"
Remus had to admit, you were a quick thinker. James' face turned a violent shade of red as he shot up to locate Theodore Pompous at the Ravenclaw table. When Remus met your eye, the two of you almost burst out laughing at James' reaction before you sprung up to grab his arm.
"James," you scolded, trying to stifle a laugh. "Seriously, stop. You can't just berate Theodore. That's so rude and there's no reason to." James shook his head at you with an incredulous look.
"No reason-"
"James," Marlene shouted, standing up as well. "Stop it. All of us are tired of you being such a dick to Y/N. You don't see her reacting like this when you have a bit of fun." The other girls murmured in agreement as James' eye twitched.
"Yes, but thats different-"
"Why?" Marlene raised her brow, "Because she's a girl?" The was a series of oooh's and cackles from Sirius and Peter before James begrudgingly sat down and passed a dirty glance your way. At least he was settled for now. James wouldn't continue to press you with Lily and the other girls at your defense.
Lunch went on and Remus came to the conclusion that he was utterly obsessed with you. He wondered if you were still teasing him or if it was just your body taunting him as his eyes kept finding their way to your chest. You had always been drop dead gorgeous. This was fucked. There was no way heâd be able to keep his eyes from wandering to you, and there was even less of a chance that heâd be able to go to whole week without fucking you at least once. He tried to feel bad about it, but that wasn't the case. He wanted you, and there really wasn't anything that was going to stop him from seeing you again.
Remus decided to approach this logically. If he wanted keep fucking you, he'd have to court you. He wouldn't mind that. You enjoyed literature, you were funny, and you were one of the most talented witches in the school. And you were his best friends brother, if he wanted to fuck you today, he'd have to do it in secret to avoid an interfering and angry James.
That's why when he found you studying alone in the library that afternoon, he took the opportunity.
"Hello," Remus cleared his throat, approaching your desk. "Mind if I join you?" Your eyes peered up from your papers momentarily, just enough to acknowledge his presence.
"Sure," you hummed, dipping your quill in the inkwell. "As long as you don't distract me from my work."
Remus huffed out a laugh and pulled a chair up to your table. Even sitting down, his frame towered over yours. You tried to continue writing, but the task felt futile as his knee rested just inches from yours. You sighed and put your quill down, turning to face Remus. His face wore a smile as he threw his hands up in defense.
"Hey, I wasn't even doing anything," he chuckled, watching as you rolled your eyes. A smile crept up to your lips.
"Yeah, yeah, Remus," you grumbled. "Did you want to talk about something?" He huffed out another laugh and you felt his breath on your face, the close proximity making your stomach do a flip. In the low lighting, he looked heavenly.
"Yea, actually. I did want to talk to you about something," his voice lowering as he leaned in. You narrowed your eyes at him as the smirk on his face stayed put. He thought he was hot shit and maybe he was right about that, but you wouldn't let him play with you.
"Hmm, and what would that be?" you asked innocently, looking up at him with your signature doe eyes. He scoffed out a laugh.
"Well, love. To be honest, I can't stop thinking about you," he purred, his arm slinging over the back of your chair as he leaned in even closer. You stifled the urge to press your legs together as his hand played with the hem of your t-shirt, rubbing it in between his fingers.
"Can't stop thinking about how good the sex was?" You teased, leaning in with a mischievous lip bite. This made Remus laugh and you blushed at his genuine smile.
"Straight to the point then," Remus chuckled, looking around the library. "Listen, I don't want to be disrespectful-"
"Okay, let me cut you off right there," you said sternly, pushing your finger into his chest. "If you're going to be scared of my brother, then this isn't going to work. I'm looking for someone who will fuck me and not hold back. If you can't do that, then we shouldn't do this." You finished, turning back to sit properly in your chair. Remus' hand stopped you by the shoulder.
"Love, if I cared about your brother right now I wouldn't be here telling you how badly I need to fuck you again," Remus whispered quickly, his gaze dropping to your lips for a second. Your face flushed immediately as the want between your legs throbbed again.
"Oh," was all you could make out. His smirk annoyingly made another appearance as he chuckled lightly at you, again. His thumb rubbed over the cap of your shoulder as you looked at him with a permanent blush, your lips parted slightly. The smirk slowly faded off his face as he stared at you. He couldn't focus while you were looking at him like that. With that blush on your cheeks, and those plump, pink lips.
"So what's your plan then?" You said, snapping Remus out of his trance. He sat up straighter.
"Meet me in the prefect's bathroom at 9:30," he instructed, his hand moving off your shoulder as he stood up. You smirked up at him as he moved his chair back to the table next to yours.
"I'll be there," you replied, turning back to your notes.
"See you then," Remus smiled, leaving before he lost control and bent you over the table.
Later that night
You padded lightly through the hallways. Curfew wasn't for another 30 minutes, but you tried to stay quiet. Your body buzzed with excitement as you padded up the staircase to the fifth floor. It turned you on that Remus was using his prefect privileges to fuck you in private, and it turned you on even more knowing there was a giant bathtub in the middle of the room. You chuckled lightly to yourself as you came onto the floor, Remus leaning against the wall near the statue. His eyes found your hips as you approached him.
"Hi," you whispered, stepping softly towards him.
"Hi beautiful," he muttered, pushing off the wall to come towards you. You weren't expecting him to kiss you, so a gasp escaped you when he surged forward to press his lips against yours. He grabbed your cheeks to deepen the kiss hungrily. You moaned into him as your fists clasped the front of his shirt, his prefect badge moving with the fabric.
"We should go inside," you gasped, pulling away from his irresistible lips. He hummed in agreement, not quite looking at you. His hands were gripping tightly on your hips like they did the previous night, as if he could barely contain himself. It took a moment but Remus led you through the doors and into the bathroom, dimly lit from the moon and enchanted colored lights. You bit your lip as you watched the water run from the faucets and into the bath, filling the room with steam.
"Let's take this off," Remus purred, coming from behind to kiss your neck. You let out a sigh of relief as he sucked down on your sweet spot, his hands running under your shirt to lift it over your head. You happily obliged and felt Remus groan into your neck as he realized you weren't wearing a bra. You knew this would drive him crazy, and hearing him groan in your ear made you pool between your legs. He pulled your shirt off and spun you around, leaving no time before dipping down to kiss you again. You could hardly think as Remus wrapped his arms around your body, burying into the kiss like he didn't need air. It was mesmerizing, the way your body fit against his. The two of you kissed like that for a while, the steam eventually pooling over both of your skin. It took a few minutes for Remus to stop kissing you, humming multiple times into your mouth before he finally pulled away.
"Rem," you groaned, tugging on the buttons of his shirt to take it off. He was practically soaking through his shirt anyway.
"Let's get in the water."
The two of you stripped and sunk slowly into the bath, Remus' hands pulling you into his lap. When your backside made contact with him, you gasped. His length pressed against you and you were suddenly reminded of how he stretched you out last night. You were glad to be soaking in a hot bath. You barely had time for another thought when he connected his lips with your skin, your head lolling back onto his shoulder as he massaged your thighs.
"Fuck," you groaned as his hands came up to grasp your breast. He hummed in response and bit your earlobe, earning a roll from your hips. His fingers slipped down between your legs, teasing you gently.
"Y/N," Remus breathed, pausing his kissing and earning a hum from you in response. "I want to eat you out."
He didn't wait for your response as he lifted you up and sat you on the edge of the tub, dropping down to his knees and moving between your legs.
"Remus- oh," you moaned as his mouth connected with your clit. You instantly gripped his hair, your head thrown back in an intense wave of pleasure. Remus was making you feel good, and by the way he was groaning into your core and wrapping his hands around your waist, you were pretty sure he was enjoying himself too. You couldn't form words and ultimately found yourself on your back. Remus shifted up higher to kiss your clit deeper, his tongue licking and dipping into your core. His hands stayed put on your hips, his mouth working overtime to send you over the edge.
"Fuck, please Remus," you gasped, you legs locking over his shoulders and bucking up into his face. He only huffed in response as his hands snaked under your back, pulling you deeper into his mouth. You twitched in his grasp, an orgasm teetering as his tongue swiped over your clit.
"So close, Rem," you whine, gripping his curls tighter. Remus could feel you pulse under his tongue, and it took every ounce of control for him to pull away. "Wh-what?" you whine, immediately sitting up to see Remus. He sat there with his arms linked under your legs, his smirk covered in slick down to his chin.
"You want to come for me, Y/N?" Remus teased, leaving wet, open kisses on the inside of your thighs. You whined and he chuckled, looking up at you wickedly through his kisses. "Do you?" He prompted again, moving to the other leg. You groaned with desire.
"Yes, Remus. Please," you cried, tugging on his hair to come towards you again. He hummed out a chuckle into your skin.
"Tell me how badly you want it," Remus challenged you, moving his kisses closer to your center.
"Please, Remus. I want you so badly. I need you. So badly, Remus. Please," you whined, falling on your back and continuing to grasp at his head. You felt the vibrations of his chuckle next to your clit.
"Such a good girl," he mumbled, planting a kiss right onto you. You let out another guttural whine as he continued to tenderly lap at your clit and your entrance, slowly savoring your wetness. You felt your orgasm building once more, sending jolts through your body that increased in force with every movement of Remus' tongue. Your hips were bucking badly, and Remus tightened his grip on you to bury himself once again.
"I'm going to come," you gasped, barely lasting a second longer before spilling into his mouth. The intensity felt doubled this time, and Remus ate you up graciously. You were almost embarrassed by how hard your orgasm had hit you, but Remus didn't seem to mind. In fact, he was moaning into your core as he finished you up.
"You taste so fucking good," Remus groaned as he climbed over you, his tip pressing against your entrance and slipping in momentarily through the slick. You gasped and felt yourself clench around him, still sensitive from his mouth. Remus' hand found the back of your head as he pushed himself into you fully. You gasped and whined simultaneously, digging your nails into his biceps. "Fuck, Y/N. You feel even better." He began to move in and out of you at a torturous pace, his tip burying deep within you. Just when you thought he had bottomed out, he bucked into you with force and moved even deeper inside of you. You let out an unprompted noise which seemed to please Remus as he started pounding into you, forcing noises out of you that were uncontrollable.
"F-fuck, R-remus," you said, your words bouncing with the pace of his thrusts. It was unrelenting, but you were so soft from his mouth that you started to near another orgasm. Your fate was sealed when his thumb came down to find your clit, the pressure of his cock adding to the pleasure immediately.
"So pretty, Y/N," Remus moaned, dipping to press a kiss to your lips. You hungrily returned it, the two of you moaning into each other's mouths as Remus' thrust slowed and deepened. "So. Fucking. Beautiful." He pounded into you, clenching his jaw as he fucked the life out of you. You were tightening, and tightening, and tightening until the coil in your stomach snapped and a rush of release pulsed through your walls. Remus groaned loudly as you felt him collapse into you, his thrusts deep and followed by spurts of warmth inside of you. He thrusted into you lazily, kissing you and rubbing your hips with his thumbs. Like much of the night, the two of you stayed kissing unhurriedly like this. It was only when someone knocked on the door that the two of you moved from your position.
"Thank Merlin you locked the door," you muttered, pulling on your pants after casting a dryer spell over you.
"Heh, I actually didn't. It's just common practice after prefect rounds," Remus laughed sheepishly. "It must be the end of the next shift." Your eyes widened at this as the two of you finished pulling on your clothes and drying off perspectively. You kept close to Remus' back as the two of you moved to leave the bathroom. You heard Remus say something to the other prefect but you didn't look up as you followed Remus out. He ushered you towards the staircase and muttered in your ear, "That was Theodore Pompous." You stifled a laugh as the two of you climbed the stairs. Remus was grinning at the coincidence and teasing you about your old crush. The two of you laughed and blushed and talked quite comfortably next to one another as you neared the Gryffindor tower.
"Do you think anyone will be in the common room?" you asked, lowering your voice and letting go of his hand. Remus shrugged and walked behind you, guiding you to the portrait hole.
"I don't think so. There's an early quidditch practice tomorrow and it's already past curfew," he muttered, giving the fat lady the password and climbing through to the common room. Remus' face hardened when he saw James sitting on the couch, his head turned towards them. He stood up when he saw you enter behind Remus.
"Y/N, what were you doing out past curfew? I was worried. I waited up for you," James frowned at you, his eyes filled with genuine concern. You felt your face flush red, realizing why you were out late. You might as well have been wearing a sign that said we just fucked. Thankfully Remus was exceptionally good at drying charms.Â
"I found her sneaking around Ravenclaw Tower," Remus said with a nonchalant nod of the head. "Thought I'd bring her back."Â
"Wasn't your shift done thirty minutes ago?" James questioned, stepping closer to Remus who showed no signs of embarrassment or concern.
"Yes, but I told Theodore I'd take his shift in exchange for him doing mine on Sirius' birthday," Remus shrugged. Your mouth formed a straight line as you looked at him. Seriously? That's the best you can come up with? James looked at Remus incredulously.
"Why would you trade shifts with him," James hissed, narrowing his eyes towards him. You started to walk towards your dorm.
"Well, I'm back," you dismissed James with a yawn. "Goodnight, Jamie." James huffed and stepped in front of you, grabbing your hands.
"Y/N, you know I love and respect you," he stared, causing you to roll your eyes by instinct. "But I just want you to be safe. Don't stay out late for some prat who you've hardly even talked to before." You sighed as he looked at you with those James Potter eyes that reminded you of home.
"I know. I'm sorry I worried you," you apologized, looking sympathetically to him. "I'm gonna go to sleep now. Okay?" James let out a sigh of relief as he gave you a hug.
"Goodnight," James called as you went up the stairs.
"Goodnight," you called back, sending Remus a wave. Remus waved subtly back to you before sighing and rubbing his eyes. He hated lying to James, and he hated even more how much he felt like he was corrupting his best friend's little sister. He knew it wasn't true though. You had shown him how badly you wanted him, how much of a slut you were for him... Fuck. Remus wanted you for himself and he wanted you for a long time. He made a vow to ask you out by the end of the week, and to do it with James' blessing.
"Sorry I got a little heated, Moony," James said, turning to face Remus. "I just can't stand the thought of her alone with some random git. Thanks for bringing her back." Remus hummed and nodded.
"It's no problem."
The two of them went up to their dorm and crashed respectively onto their beds. Sirius and Peter were already asleep. Remus laid awake again thinking about you. He thought about your face when you came, and the way you blushed when he teased you. He fell asleep dreaming of you during the summertimes when you would read outside with him and woke up the next morning with a plan.Â
Missed Hints
Pairing: Remus Lupin x Fem! Reader CW: Language Genre: Fluff Summary: Remus Lupin wanted to make his feelings known; he is trying numerous ways to tell you, but you are simply quite oblivious to the poor boyâs advances.
Note: Am I a bit too obsessed with Rems? Probably. This one's a bit shorter than the rest. Enjoy reading! Pictures used are from Pinterest, credits to the owners!
Sometimes, all Remus wanted to do was run into a wall to knock himself out.
Maybe itâll help formulate a reason why you couldnât pick up his signals and actions that he wants to be more than friends. Please cut this poor boy some slack; heâs literally done everything he could to hint that he likes you.
The problem is that you are quite oblivious- being as dense as the castle walls in Hogwarts. Although this hasnât stopped Remus from pursuing you after several pitiful (also quite funny) attempts, if anything, it made him work even harder to let you know he fancies you.
âY/n, wait up!â Remus calls out to you, leaving his mates, who were whispering words of encouragement and âgood luckâ to him. Hearing your name made you turn around, a book in your hand, as you smiled at the taller boy. âRemus, hi!â He smiled, walking beside you and settling in at the same pace as you. Suddenly, a friend of yours piped up, âY/n, we have to go get something in the dorms; stay with Remus, yeah?â before you could even reply, they were rushing to leave. Remus could only blush as your friends shot him a thumbs up before escaping the scene, trying to stop the giggles escaping their mouths.
It was all up to him now.
âErm, so how were the holidays?â he asked, trying to act casually as he placed his hands in his pockets. The question made you hum, your eyes lit up. "Oh, it was wonderful! We spent the holidays in Canada, lots of snow, I made a snow man and visited some parks.â She nods, holding her book closer to her chest, seemingly lost in thought. âIt was also freezing.â Remus hums in agreement. âIs that so? Iâm glad you had fun.â He smiles, and you both walk towards the great hall to have dinner.
You looked up at him with a bright smile and said, âTell me about yours, Rems! Iâm sure it was also fun.â Remus blushed, hearing his nickname roll off your tongue so casually. Even after all the years youâve known each other, simply calling him by his nickname that you specially made for him has an effect that never faded away. âWell, it was just simple, really. I just stayed at Jamesâ and had fun.â He shrugged his shoulders, smiling at you. He could care less about his holiday shenanigans, preferring you just talk his ear off about every little thing you did, he will absorb what you say word by word, like a sponge.
 "Well, James is quite an interesting person.â She hummed in agreement, Remus felt his eyebrow twitch, a small twinge similar to jealousy creeping up into him. What about him? Do you think heâs interesting too? Was Remus someone who could be worthy of your time?
 âYeah, that bloke was conjuring up some pranks to pull this year.â
You let out a small giggle and oh merlin please take the poor boy to Madame Pomfrey because he thinks his poor heart canât handle all the feelings he has towards you. Remus Lupin is such a simp.
He clears his throat, trying to muster up some courage as he asks you the million-galleon question. âSo, are you free tomorrow? Itâs Hogsmeade day.â Remus smiles, thankfully, his clammy hands are kept under his pockets, making his nervousness almost unnoticeable. Your eyes lit up âOh! I forgot, but yes, I am free tomorrow.â Remus saw his chance and took it. âGreat, how about we hang out in Three Broomsticks?â
For Merlinâs sake, please make this turn into Lupinâs favor. Heâs done too many ways to confess to your clueless self.
âThat would be fantastic! I can bring my friends along, and you can bring James, Sirius, and Peter too!â you clapped your hands excitedly, not noticing how the werewolf visibly deflated as you exclaimed. Right, might as well reject him right now on the spot to end his misery.
He could probably shout âI love youâ and stare at you directly- but youâll just think heâs talking to someone behind you. Remus had also tried to pass you a note containing his feelings for you back then. Grabbing it without much of a thought, you passed it to your friend, thinking he wants you to give it to her, who shakes her head and sighs, looking at Remus.
The rest of the Marauders and your friends think Remusâs plans of confessing to you were a lost cause.
âOur poor MoonyâŚâ Peter frowns, as James shakes his head. âAt this point, Moony should just kiss her.â Sirius sighed, feeling pity for his friend. âShe would probably think it was a friendly kiss.â Peter snorts, trying to control his laughter, James glared at Sirius jokingly before pushing him. âBugger off Pads, Y/Nâs just⌠super innocent? I guess.â They resumed watching the two from a distance, a look of anticipation evident in their faces.
âI was kind of hoping itâll be just us?â Remus grins nervously, sitting beside you as you reach the Gryffindor table. You took a bite out of the apple pie from your plate before replying, âSure, itâll still be fun. Youâre a great company, Rems.â She smiles, before resuming on eating the remaining apple pie slice. Little do you know the simple compliment you made had a tremendous effect on Remus.
âMoony, your smile hasnât left your face ever since Y/n agreed. Stop it, Iâm getting scared.â Sirius states, Remus turns to look, a hint of a small dopey smile on his face. âHm?â
âOh merlin, Y/n broke him.â Peter blanches. They were smacked upside their heads lightly by James. âCome on now, donât rain on his parade. Moonâs just⌠well- over the moon.â James laughs lightly, Sirius snorts while Peter tries to hide his smile. Remus rolled his eyes playfully, opening his trunk to pick out the clothes heâs going to wear tomorrow. âWhatever, now help me decide what to wear, you sods.â
âRems! Over here!â You exclaimed, standing on your tiptoes, arms up and waving in his directions. Remus smiles, maneuvering through the line of students waiting to get out of Hogwarts and to Hogsmeade. âY/n! you look⌠pretty.â He blushes, drinking in the sight of you. Remus could swear on his life that he saw a light shade of pink dust your cheek as you tucked a stray hair behind your ear.
âThank you, I like your sweater. It suits you.â You said, eyes going over his body and one of Remusâs signature sweaters. You canât deny it; you like what you see, you were pulled from your thoughts when someone spoke.
âOi! Get a move on you half-blood and goody-two-shoes! Holding up the bloody line is what youâre doing!â Evan Rosier, a Slytherin student complained a few feet away from you and Remus, Mulciber and Dolohov backs their fellow Slytherin and friend up. He snarls, those blokes, looks like theyâll have a new target for one of their nasty pranks.
âIf I were you, I would shut my mouth.â Remus warns, standing in front of you, blocking your frame from their view.
Evan raised one eyebrow, amusement swimming in his eyes. âWhat are you going to do? Pesky little Gryffindor like you are always running around trying to be brave.â He taunts, moving closer to their direction.
âRems, Iâm fine. Letâs go, yeah?â She gently tugs the sleeve of his sweater, he looks down at you, his expression softening. âAlright then.â He threw one last warning look at Rosier over his shoulder; that punk needs to just wait and see whatâs going to come and bite his ass.
The two of you are sitting in the Three Broomsticks, talking about basically anything under the sun. Well, you mostly talked while Remus just listens, humming and sometimes sharing his two cents on the topic you are on.
âRems, thank you.â
Remusâ eyebrows shot up in confusion, âThank you? What for?â
âEarlier, Evan Rosier.â
âAh, that prick. It was nothing, y/n.â He offers a gentle smile; he wants to touch your hand that was directly across his from the table but ultimately deciding against it, the last thing he wants to do is make you feel uncomfortable.
âThank you for being my friend. Youâre an amazing person who deserves the world.â She smiles, slowly taking his hand onto hers and squeezing it tightly.
He felt a crack in his heart. âYeah, you are too.â He managed to choke out, offering a wry smile.
Friends. Is that it? Is he just one of the many friends you have in your life? Is he a friend that will slowly drift away after you graduate from Hogwarts? Merlin, he would even count himself lucky if you invited him to be at your wedding, and if he wants to push his luck then he might even be the godfather to one of your future kids.
You furrowed your brows, âIs there something wrong, Rems?â He looks at you, quickly shaking his head. âNothingâs wrong. Why do you ask?â You hummed, âWell, you have this kind of haunted look on you when youâre bothered about something; youâre doing it right now.â
Remus blinks, even he himself wasnât aware of that. He closed his eyes and sighed; fuck it. Heâll push his luck to the extremes by confessing his love for you. Doesnât matter if you see him as just a friend, you deserve to know.
âY/n, I have to tell you something.â
âOf course. What would that be?â
âWell, I donât know how to tell you this without being upfront about itâŚâ He starts, you urged him to continue; well, here goes nothing.
âY/n, I-â
âTwo butterbeers, correct?â
Remus wants to pull his hair out of frustration as the server walked towards them and set down the butterbeers they ordered, interrupting his speech. You smiled, thanking them before turning to Remus, who was frowning.
âWhat was it you were trying to say, Rems?â You asked, sipping your butterbeer.
âI like you, a lot. Ever since we met.â He simply blurts out quickly, as if heâs scared someone is going to interrupt again. You blink slowly, setting your butterbeer down gently.
âI like you too, Remus.â
âNo- you donât understand,â He shakes his head as you furrowed your eyebrows, utterly confused.
âI fancy you, love.â He emphasizes, taking both of your hands into his large ones, looking at you straight in the eyes, completely serious. She widens her eyes ever so slightly, her heart rate speeding up a bit.
âWhy didnât you tell me? Iâve always fancied you too, Rems.â
Remus felt as if the time slowed down, his heartbeat pulsing faster, eyes blinking owlishly, his jaw slack in shock.
Did he hear that right? Please tell him that he heard that right.
âI-I⌠I gave you hints, love!â He sputtered, âBut youâve just ignored them every single time!â She frowns, âI didnât noticeâŚâ Remus agreed, âForgive me, but you were quite oblivious.â A small smile was on his face.
âYou couldâve just said outright that you fancy me, Rems.â She chuckles, a faint blush on her cheeks.
âIf you like me too, then why didnât you tell me?â
âI didnât want to force you.â She said, looking at the beverage in her hand. His eyes softened, âForce me? To what, love?â
She sighs, looking up at him. âI didnât want you to force yourself to try to love me just because I feel that way for you.â Â Before Remus could even speak, she opened her mouth again, âI know you, Remus. You wouldâve tried either way, thatâs just who you are.â She chuckles, sipping butterbeer before continuing.
âYou have a heart of gold, Rems. Thatâs one of the things I love about you.â She rubs her thumb across his scarred knuckles gently. The hairs on the back of his neck stood up, the simple and gentle touch made his spine shiver.
If this was some kind of dream, then he would be more than happy to not wake up.
âCan I kiss you?â He breathes out, making you giggle. You stood up from your seat and leaned towards him, you can feel and smell his peppermint toothpaste fanning against your lips, beckoning you closer.
âYou donât even have to ask.â You closed the distance between you and sealed both of your lips with a kiss.
pen pals
943 words, @wolfstarmicrofic
On the other side of town, there was a hospital, where children in need of long-term care spent their days and nights. On this side of town, there was a boarding school, where children in need of discipline spent their days and nights.
As an act of further discipline, the Headteacher, Professor McGonagall, had decided that the students of Diagon Academy should write a letter to a patient in Pomfreyâs Hospital, and forge a new friendship, become pen pals for life.
According to Sirius, she was delusional. But he still wrote a letter.
- - -
With his incredibly bony, stick-like, shaking fingers, Remus wrote a letter to someone in the rich, stuffy boarding school, who would apparently become his pen pal for life. (Unlikely.) Firstly, he was Remus. No one wanted to be his friend. Even if they werenât in their right mind, he was a sick, frail loser, unable to do anything except stutter and sit in awkward silence.
Secondly, the people at Diagon Academy were judgemental snobs. Posh and pretentious and loaded. Why would he befriend that?
- - -
Minerva and Poppy sorted through the letters in companionable chatter, pairing a student with a patient in a match they hoped would lead to a long-lasting friendship.
Once the pairs had been made, the children could keep addressing letters to their pen pal; the school Prefects and hospital wardens would be able to deliver the letters by reading the name on the envelope, ensuring the children got the privacy they needed to open up to each other.
Minerva wanted the slightly troubled (okay, very troubled) students at her school to learn how to care for someone who didnât live in their narrow-minded world, and Poppy wanted the minorly self-loathing (okay, very self-loathing) patients at her hospital to open up to the possibilities of the world around them. Together, the couple had come up with the idea of pen pals, and together, they wanted this to work so badly.
âI think weâve found the perfect pair,â Minerva commented as she held Remusâs and Siriusâs letters side-by-side.
Poppy grinned. âI bet those twoâll end up more than friends.â
- - -
Dear pen pal (for life, apparently; I think the nurse may be barmy, but sheâs well-intentioned and sheâs my favourite and I want it to be known that I am doing this for her. So if I make an embarrassment of myself, it was for her. And Iâll never even get out of this hospital, so I donât care if you think Iâm weird.)
Iâm supposed to write about myself. Iâm fifteen. Iâm a boy. Iâve been sick for as long as I can remember and I look like undercooked pastry. I like reading. Thereâs not a lot you can do in hospital. But you do get stickers. Iâm actually fond of my sticker album. You get a sticker for every injection you take, and when I was younger, I used to get stickers for talking, because I was and am an anti-social freak. Iâm really selling this.
Anyway, Iâve organised the pages of my sticker album because I have nothing better to do. Thereâs a page for leaves from deciduous trees, animals that specifically live in the savanna, fruits which are FRUITS and that includes tomatoes, and a lot of other fully sorted pages. This is my legacy. I might die any day but I still made this impact.
Look, if youâve read this far, Iâll have to assume youâre as weird as I am.
Yours,
Remus Lupin
Sirius traced over the wobbly penmanship of his pen pal with a grin on his face. Remus was funny. And nice. Those seemed like such simple adjectives, but Sirius meant them to such an intense degree.
He got to writing back about how he was so much weirder than Remus. Although Remus must already know that from Siriusâs introductory letter.
- - -
Dear pen pal,
Minnie, our lovely Headteacher, and my future wife, even though sheâs resistant to my charms at the moment (I donât know why, Iâm literally the hottest hunk of meat in this school Iâm kidding sorry too soon) (also it may be because sheâs gay and so am I) anyway, Minnie came up with the fanciful idea of pen pals. She really hopes this will mean something, and I donât wanna let her down now, do I?
I mean, I also hope this means something because she has POISONED my brain with these delusional fantasies, and so has my best mate. James really believes this will benefit the country or something from the way he talks.
So, about myself. (It may seem I like talking about myself. I hate it. Iâd rather show people who I am.) So, Iâm not gonna talk about myself! Iâm mysterious like that. Oh-so-interesting.
Like, yesterday, James and I put bouillon cubes into all the shower-heads and the boys ended up smelling like chicken broth (us included). It was fucking GROSS. And fucking awesome. Minnie immediately knew it was us though. My mystery works on everyone but her (another reason weâre soulmates, I should tell her).
LOTS OF LOVE
SIRIUS BLACK, EL AMOR DE TU VIDA
Remus actually snorted. Heâd been worried, initially, to see âPOISONEDâ glaring at him in swirling cursive when he cast a cursory glance down the letter, but then he saw âTHE LOVE OF YOUR LIFEâ in Spanish, and found that Sirius was a hyperbolic little shit.
He proceeded to write a letter to tell him exactly that. Oh, and another prank idea, because why not? It wasnât like heâd be suspected. Maybe he could help Sirius and James with an original idea that couldnât possibly be pinned on them.
Hii sweets! How are you? I was wondering id you could write a james potter x reader where he is obssesed with her and love physical touch
YES LITERALLY HAVE BEEN STALKING MY INBOX WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO REQUEST HIM OML
this ones just fluffy- nothing too intense ;)
james is clingy, no doubt about it. hes always near you, he has to be near you, and if hes not its a concern. he is always touching you in some way, holding your hand, having an arm wrapped around your shoulder or waist, or sitting so close to you, your practically on top of eachother.
and you love it.
right now, your sitting in the gryffindor common room with your friends, lounging by the fire. james somehow managed to get you to sit with him on a chair, which was clearly only meant for one person. your on his lap, and his hands are wrapped firmly around your waist, pulling you into his chest.
"wait, can you come look at this?" marlene asks, gesturing to her homework in front of her. shes laying down on the rug, mary next to her.
"yeah, of course marls-" you say, smiling as you shuffle to get off james lap.
"noooo." james whines, frowning and tugging you back into him.
"james, seriously?" you say, turning to look at him.
he pouts, and you smile softly at him.
"don't go?"
"i'm moving a few centimeters away, and then coming back."
james continues his pouting, and you giggle softly at his behavior.
"prongs is obsessed, we've lost him for good." sirius mutters from another couch.
"don't worry, still 'ave me." remus replies, looking up from his book at sirius.
a blush coats sirius cheeks, and mary giggles from the floor.
"oh! and me!" peter says, and remus nods in agreement.
"james, relinquish your girlfriend." marlene says sternly.
"she is mine." he says indignantly.
"so possessive.." you mutter, and james swats your at your arm as marlene laughs.
"am not!" he says, crossing his arms, in a way which makes him look younger.
"you very much are." marlene says.
"indeed." mary adds.
"obsessed." sirius says, a fake bitter tone to his voice.
"prongs is long gone, your right." remus says, nudging sirius.
Of Romance and Play Practice
@wolfstarbingo2024 - square: nerdy Remus - rating: G - no warnings - word count: 974 - based on @probs-reading's HC - AO3 link
To this day, Remus still couldn't figure out how they all were friends. They took up vastly different social circles. Like a smaller version of the Breakfast Club, he, Sirius, James, and Peter were as opposite as could be. James was the school basketball star, cheerleaders constantly hanging off his elbows (much to his boyfriend, Regulus's, disgust). Peter ran the yearbook, and was never seen without a notebook and a camera. Remus, of course, was the textbook definition of a nerd: he was the president of Chess Club, and took more AP classes than all of his friend combined. And Sirius....Sirius was perfect.
Sirius was the star of the theater program, having finally figured out how to put his dramatics to good use. He lived for the stage, and the audience ate him up no matter what his role. Of course, Remus ate him up, too. Or at least, he wanted to.
They'd all been friends since elementary school. Perhaps that was why they were able to stay close, no matter their differences. But Remus's crush on Sirius had developed quite recently, and for some reason, he couldn't shake it.
Perhaps it was the way Sirius oozed confidence. His smile was absolutely contagious and it made Remus literally weak at the knees, often times he had to sit down after Sirius grinned at him. Maybe it was the way he felt safe with Sirius. Though they loved to tease each other, Sirius never judged him when it mattered, and they'd been friends for so long, they knew each other as well as they knew themselves.
Of course, it helped that Sirius was fit as fuck.
But that wasn't it. It was...Remus couldn't help but feel warm when he looked at him. It was a bit disgusting, really.
But one night, when Sirius asked him to help run lines for the new play he was a part of, Remus agreed, because he wanted to help. He figured eventually, this crush would go away, so he should just continue spending time with Sirius like normal, acting like nothing was different. But when he read the name of the play, he froze.
"Erm...Romeo and Juliet?" he asked Sirius, who was sat on his bed, shucking his leather jacket and making himself comfortable.
"Mmm," he hummed noncommittally. "Good thing McKinnon's as flaming as I am, or I'd be dreading the kiss," he grinned, waggling his eyebrows.
And of course. Of course, Sirius needed him to practice running lines for the most romantic play in the fucking universe. What else?
"Alright," he murmured, sitting nervously on the edge of his own bed, as far from Sirius as possible. "Erm, what scene?"
"Let's start..." Sirius flipped through the script, stopping at a page and pointing. "There. I'm having trouble with the emotion, to be honest. If you could just read for McKinnon, that'd be amazing."
But Remus's stomach flipped as he looked over the script, recognizing the scene. The fucking balcony scene?
"Erm, alright," he nodded, trying to pull himself together. "How camest thou hither- er - tell me, and wherefore? Erm, the orchard walls are high and hard to climb, and the place death, considering who thou art, of any of my, erm, kinsmen find thee here," he recited disjointedly.
Sirius chuckled and responded fluidly, "With love's light wings did I o'erperch these walls. For stony limits cannot hold love out." His eyes were wide, genuine, and Remus became entranced as he listened. "And what love can do, that dares love attempt. Therefore thy kinsmen are no stop to me."
It took Remus a second to realize he was done. That it was his turn to respond. Because hearing Sirius speak of love like this, it was doing things to him. "Oh!" he nearly yelled as Sirius gave him an expectant look, jumping a bit. "Erm. If- if they to see thee, they will murder thee. Fuck, this is intense, huh?" he commented, scanning over the script.
Sirius laughed and ignored his comment, going on, "Alack, there lies more peril in thine eye than twenty of their swords. Look though but sweet, and I am proof against their enmity." He said those words with a small smile, eyes on Remus's.
"I...I would not for the world they saw thee here," Remus nearly-whispered, looking at the paper and back at Sirius, who was still watching him with a strange look in his eyes.
"I have night's clock to hide me from their eyes," he whispered, moving closer to Remus- and when had he gotten so close, they were side-by-side, now!- grabbing his hand lightly. "And, but thou love me, let them find me here. My life were better ended by their hate than death prorogued, wanting of thy love."
Remus swallowed, drowning in the look Sirius was giving him, squeezing his hand and allowing the heat and tension to wrap around their bodies. He wasn't imagining it, was he? Was Sirius feeling it, too? The way the very air was pulsating, urging him to move forward, to bring their lips together?
He hoped so.
"Sirius," he murmured, his head hazy, hardly bothering to look at the book, too distracted by the moment.
But Sirius seemed to be contemplating something. "Move not while my prayer's effect I take," he murmured, causing Remus to wrinkle his nose in confusion, before Sirius leaned forward, hand grazing over Remus's jaw and pulling their lips together.
And it was like fireworks. Hearing Sirius talk about love with the words of a poet had just made Remus's crush bloom into something more, and he couldn't resist grabbing for him, wrapping his arms around the other boy, pulling him closer until they were completely entangled in each other, their lips and teeth fighting for control of the best kiss Remus had ever had in his life.
Meet cute
Sirius Black x Fem!reader
Context â ď¸
I got this idea completely out of nowhere.
I watched "we live in time" trailer and picture this. I changed Andrew Garfield's character in Remus to fit the fandom, but Florence Pugh's character's name is the same. Also, I still haven't watched the movie, so this is not a crossover except for her name.
That being said, I hope you'll like it, and please let me know what you think đ â¤ď¸
Summary: Remus is adamant about finding his best friend a love match. Thankfully, his girlfriend helps him out.
Warnings: none, I think.
"I'm not trying to set you up with anyone." Remus laughs as he leads, more like drags, his best friend to the building where a party's supposed to be.
"I know you, Remus." Y/n glares at him, even though he's not looking at her. "You do the same thing when you try to play cupid for me."
"Not true!" He defends.
"That's so true." She insists, "and let me tell you... not a great job, mate."
"Okay... okay... I admit, my friends weren't exactly the perfect match, that's why I stopped playing cupid" he agrees, but Y/n could sense something was off.
"C'mon, Remus, you promised not to set me up with one of your friends anymore." She complains as she's literally dragged by Remus, up to the roof of the building.
"I promise I'm not setting you up with one of my friends, cross my heart." He tells her, genuinely.
Y/n and Remus have been friends since... well, since always, they know each other like the back of their hands, so Y/n lets out a relieved sigh when he says that.
"That's a relief." She replies, not putting up a fight anymore and simply follows the guy upstairs.
"I promised you after all," he says opening the door for Y/n, and it's when he closes it that he adds, "he's actually Almut's friend."
"What?" Y/n exclaims, wanting to turn around and just leave, but Remus' hands on her shoulder prevent her from going any further.
"You made it!" Almut's cheerful voice makes Y/n glares at the man in front of her.
"Hi!" She turns, accepting Almut's hug.
"I'm so happy to see you!" Her best friend's girlfriend cheers.
"So am I... I hope." Y/n hesitantly smiles.
"Oh..." the blonde realises, then confirms after seeing the guilty expression on her boyfriend, "you figured it out, didn't you?"
"Have you met your boyfriend?" I joke, "not exactly subtle."
"I did fool you for a second." He once again defends himself.
"I told you I should've taken her here myself." Almut accuses and takes Y/n's arm to lead her more into the party, "I promise you, no pressure. Just meet him."
"Do I really have to?" Y/n asks, already given up her chance of going back home.
"Yap." She answers, "Sirius! Come here, will you?"
"I'm just gonna introduce myself and that's it." Y/n warn both Almut and Remus, "and. That's. It."
"Yes, fine, amazing." Almuta dismisses her focusing her attention on her friend talking over to them, "Sirius! Hey!"
"Hey! Good to see you!" Sirius cheerfully greet her with a side hug, "Remus, nice to see you too, mate, how are you?"
"I'm great, thanks, uh... this is Y/n, my best friend, Y/n this is Sirius."
"Nice to meet you." Sirius smiles brightly at her and holds out his hands for Y/n to shake, whish she does.
"Nice to meet you too." She replies with a smile, now taking in his appearance. She mentally curses Remus because he knows she always liked long haired men. She breaks eye contact, Remus notices her reluctance in having a conversation so he decides to take charge of the situation.
"So," he starts to rumble about some documentary he watched, everyone saying their opinions, interested in Remus' documentary. Surprisingly so.
Remus and Almut notice how their friends finally talk to each other, among them, but it's still victory in their mind.
The party goes on all afternoon, everyone having a great time, it's when the sun starts to go down that the roof slowly gets emptier and emptier. Only a few people left.
Almut and Remus by the ledge talking with each other, watching Y/n and Sirius as they talk in one of the sofas.
"I... I don't know how to say this," Sirius starts, nursing his almost empty glass, "but I think they're trying to set us up." He slightly nods to the couple not so far from them.
"You think?" Y/n laughs, "they're not that subtle."
"Well, I wasn't suspecting anything untill I saw how they're watching us." He admits.
"Really? Remus has been suspicious all morning." The girl chuckles, taking a sip of her drink.
"How?"
"First of all, you have to know that he's been trying forever to play Cupid. He introduced me to countless friends, so I learned to catch hints." She explains, Sirius listening closely to her, "when he wants to genuinely introduce me to a new friend, he goes like this.'They're amazing. You need to meet them.' But when he wants to introduce me, hoping to find love, he goes 'just wait till you meet them, you two are going to get along perfectly.' Emphasis on 'you two'." She laughs again, earning a smile from Sirius, "has Almut ever set you up with anyone?"
"Never, I'm unfortunately very picky, so she never tried," he says, but catches himself once her chuckle makes him realise what he said, "now I sound like an asshole, I promise it's not like that."
"It's okay," she laughs, "how is it then?"
"I'm just very protective of my heart." He simply answers, Y/n nods understanding.
"You don't want to be hurt again, the first time was more than enough, uh?"
"Exactly like that, "he softly nods, "are you the same?"
"I'm afraid so." She nods too, "I definitely wouldn't want experience that same pain again."
"May I ask?" Sirius tries, he doesn't want to pressure, he understands her pain, like she does his.
"Well," she chuckles, "this is usually a fifth date conversation."
"Fifth?" He asks and Y/n nods, "I'll look forward to it then."
Y/n looks at him, his sweet smile gretting her. She sees honesty in his eyes, she's a little taken aback, but feels comfort in them. She feels peace.
"Are... are you flirting with me?" She asks, confused, "I'm not good at noticing if someone does..."
"Do you want me to?" He smirks, but it's not a teasing smirks, it's playful.
"Uh..." Y/n chuckles and breaks eye contact, not being able to stop the smile on her face.
Y/n and Sirius clearly forgot about the two pairs of eyes watching them.
"Look! Look how she's smiling!" Remus nudges his girlfriend.
"And loom at how he looks at her!" Almut cheerfully points out.
"I think we did a great job." Remus says, "I really hope this time is the one. She deserves to be loved."
"So does he. He's been through so much, some happiness is what he needs." Almut agrees.
"This is the first time she looks like she's actually enjoying herself." The brunette sighs content, "I don't know how it never happened before."
"Because you tried to set her up on your own." She grins, "you didn't have me."
"That's right."He agrees hugging her, "we make a great team, don't we?"
"The best."
All this anti-Remus talk is making me like him even more đ
I love that heâs a character who is so fixated on image and how he comes off. Heâs such a cold person! Detached! Wonât form close bonds! LikeâŚhis loving parents fucked him up by keeping him away from all other children until Hogwarts. I love how this plays into his character again and again and again.
I put the rest under the cut because it gets a bit tangential, but whatever, I was feeling a bit heated.
I feel like Remus doesnât actually know how to make friendsâhe has let everyone come to him. James and Sirius formed their little group, and Remus has always been in awe of what friends will do FOR him. What did Remus do for his friends? Maybe Remus learns how to accept love, but he is not very good at giving it back.
Itâs so interesting to me that Remus doesnât become Harryâs go-to even after they spent hours together. Harry allows Remus to see his most vulnerable side, and Remus doesnât reciprocate even after the truth comes out. At the very least, he could write Harry. He could visit Harry in the summer.
But I actually LOVE this about Remus. I love that heâs written as a warm, inviting sort of person when heâs actually someone who is terrified of forming close bonds. No one is allowed to see the real Lupin, and once someone has seen a part of himself he doesnât like, he immediately detaches himself and disappears. Remus wants to appear in control of himself because he is concerned more about his image than doing the right thing. At the end of PoA, Iâm sure heâs upset that he nearly killed Harry and co, obviously, but more importantly, heâs embarrassed that he lost control. If he really cared about the safety of students, he would have revealed Siriusâs disguise to Dumbledore as soon as Sirius escaped Azkaban.
The point of his character is âwhat you see on the surface is not necessarily what lies below.â Itâs one of the most salient themes of PoA.
Anyway, itâs uncomfortable! So many people want to make Remus a âmodel of marginalizationâ - who, depending on the fanon, falls on one end of the spectrum which is âohhhh poor disabled guy :((( he canât do anything because heâs a pathetic babyâ or âlook how hot and tall and rational and intelligent he is despite his poverty/disability!!!!â
Itâs SO INFANTILIZING. I donât think Remus is a bad guy or a good guyâI think that his particularly negative character traits are a result of prejudice towards his condition, his upbringing, and his internalized prejudice towards werewolves. So I am not saying heâs a complete asshole. Obviously. My point, though, is that he has friends who support him in school, particularly James, who break the law and risk torture prison (and bodily harm from a werewolf) to support him.* And RemusâŚhe does not do much to reciprocate that sort of love. The very least he can do for James is to check in on Harry (he doesnât even need to say hiâjust literally see that heâs ok!). James risked his life for Remus, and Remus wonât risk Dumbledoreâs disapproval to reciprocate.
He continually does the LEAST for Harry. Harry has to beg him to teach him the Patronus Charm. And when Harry is clearly craving his parentsâ voices as theyâre dying, Remus doesnât even offer a nugget of âohhhh, gosh, Harry, letâs give you some good stories about your dad, ok?â
This is a cold, broken man who has convinced himself that being alone is safe because you can never be rejected. This is Remusâs greatest fear. Heâs the teacher that needs to be liked but he hides behind professionalism when it suits him. His ânice guyâ traits are a fucking ACT. I want people to explore more about his negative traits! He blames his condition when people get too close, and when people manage to climb his walls to try to get close to him, he pushes them away.
Chronic illness does not make you a good personâit just makes life harder. Remus accepts love and support from his friendsâand yes, they SHOULD give him love and support because this is what we owe each other, but Remus also owes his friends love and support. Itâll look different from how James, Sirius, and Peter can support him, but you donât get to just take from your friends without giving back. Your friends are not there to be your mommy. Sometimes, youâll go through periods where your friends are holding you up and you just need to accept that they donât resent you for it, but if youâre willing to accept help, youâd better be willing to return it later. As someone who has a few people in their life who take and take and give little in return, I can tell you, it starts to feel like your only purpose is to carry them on your shoulders. And man, itâs fucking exhausting. Sometimes I need to be carried too.
I have no idea how Remus behaved at Hogwarts regarding his friends on a day to day basis because Harry never sees evidence of this, but we see him as an adult who is unwilling to support his friendâs orphaned kid in ANY meaningful wayâŚunless Harry begs him. In the end, Remus is still an autonomous adult and Harry is a child in need. In this situation, at the bare minimum, Remus has the power to pick up a pen and write.
So why donât we see this more in fic? You all know Iâm a Sirius stan, but I am CONSTANTLY critiquing Siriusâs relationship with masculinity. Sirius is my favorite character, and I LOVE exploring the uncomfortable parts of himâheâs cold when he perceives that he has been emasculated, even belittling Harry when heâs insulted. Heâll put himself in danger to protect Harry when all Harry really wants is for Sirius to be there for him (which Sirius canât do in OotP). These are the bits that make me queasyâand I love exploring them!
Why not explore the ugly parts of Remus? You say you want interesting, well-rounded characters with chronic illness/disabilities/neurodivergence? Then let them be interesting. Make them complicated and embrace the icky parts of them. If you want, explore how society has created a cold, sad, wet noodle Remus and then GIVE HIM A PATH TO GROWTH. Like⌠if you donât like these parts, give him scenarios so he can grow and become a better person.
Anyway, stop fucking throwing around words like âableismâ when you hear something you donât like about a character. You donât know the real person behind their username. Most of us here have some sort of disability/neurodivergence/chronic illness, etc, so stop fucking assuming weâre Chad Abled-Bodied or Karen Neurotypical, ffs.
Itâs fucking insulting and infantilizing that we canât discuss complexity in characters who are marginalized in their society. By excusing all of their less than cute actions, youâre essentially saying, âThis is not a full human being with a full range of emotion and flawsâthey are a perfect little baby who doesnât deserve reproach, who can do whatever he wants!â
But thatâs just me, I guess.
â
* (Also, side note, Moony the werewolf could have very well killed any one of them. Additionally, the theory that Moony couldnât hurt them in Animagus form was ONLY A THEORY. It might not have worked at ALL and they risked their lives to test it.)
#I went on a rant here#Iâm not anti-Remus#in fact i love him#but heâs not a great guy#probably delete later when iâm less irritated#stop dehumanzing people with chronic illness/disabilities/neurodivergence#remus lupin critical
Youâre an odd mixture of nervous and bubbly as you and Sirius make the rounds at James and Lilyâs halloween party. You havenât met all of his friends but some of them, so heâs introducing you to the ones you donât know. So far youâve met three people dressed as wizards and youâre starting to think itâs an inside joke.
Sirius, dressed in an incredibly attractive black leather getup, dark makeup and red horns sticking out of his wavy hair to complete the look, leads you into the kitchen where a pretty blonde girl is mixing her drink with a fruit skewer.
âMarl! Hi, doll,â Sirius kisses the cheek of the girl in question. âThis is my angel, Y/N.â He gives your hand a squeeze and encourages your forward. âSweetheart, this is Marlene.â
You feel yourself go hot in the cheeks. He keeps introducing you as his angel, which is probably your fault since you picked the angel costume. A flowy white dress, dewy makeup, white fluffy wings. You thought it was simple and cute and wouldnât draw too much attention to you. Youâre starting to realise how very wrong you were.
âHi, Marlene,â you manage, embarrassed.
âWow, you look incredible,â Marlene gushes excitedly, moving in for a friendly hug. You detach yourself from Sirius to hug her back. She looks amazing herself in a lacy black dress and fake blood all down her front. She pulls away and holds you at arms length. âYouâre so pretty!â
âThank you,â you say, more flustered than ever. Sirius is still close but heâs distracted showing off his outfit to Remus in the kitchen doorway. âItâs really good to meet you.â
Marlene beams. âYou too, I thought Sirius was hiding you from us!â She laughs, then lowers her voice and leans in close, âHe is looking after you, isnât he?â
âYes,â you laugh. You canât help but giggle at her serious tone. Itâs not the first time one of his friends have asked you this, mostly as a joke, but you know itâs also because heâs so intimidating and youâre decidedly un-intimidating.
âYeah, he is,â you tell her. He really is. Heâs a sweetheart under all the punk. You suppose the angel-devil thing isnât helping your case much, but itâs true, and you donât care if other people think youâre an odd match. Sirius likes you the way you are and you him.
âGood,â Marlene nods, satisfied, and leans back. âWas it just me or did I hear him call you âmy angelâ? Thatâs awful. Heâs such aââ
Sirius appears at your side again. You know heâs there a second before he appears because his warm hand finds a place at the small of your back before he interrupts,
âWhat are we talking about, girls?â He asks loudly.
Marlene squints at him.
âSpeak of the devil,â she says, which is funny, because heâs literally dressed as a devil tonight.
âYou were talking about me?â He asks, pleased. He slides his arm around your waist and pulls you into his side. âHope it was about how devilishly handsome I am.â
You and Marlene make twin faces at each other.
âSure, Pads,â Marlene deadpans, her nose wrinkled.
Sirius grins. Youâd never admit it but he is actually extremely handsome and you could probably talk about it forever.
âI knew it,â he says. âCâmon, babe, Iâll introduce you to Frank and Alice, yeah? I think theyâll love our costumes.â
You let yourself get tugged away by Sirius, happy to follow him wherever he goes. Marlene winks at you when Sirius isnât looking.
