been thinking about deviantart lately and i cant help but remember during the later years of the site's popularity where people would go out of their way to find what was (in retrospect, very clearly) art made by literal children and shit on it and cyberbully the kid about it. what the fuck was that. even shit that was like, well made was subject to overly critical bullshit about being unrealistic or a mary sue or whatever. its frankly bizarre to me as an adult that anyone ever tolerated this culture or even like, participated in it and -wasn't- a child themselves. or even saw it and didnt feel the need to say "hey what youre doing is really fucking stupid and pathetic"

Machete's home village was on the other side of Italy (and separated by the sea no less) and it was small, relatively rural and remote. It's very unlikely many news about Holy See's happenings made their way there. I don't think his parents had any reason to expect to ever hear about him again, he seemed to be somewhat of a lost cause when they dropped him off.

I find it funny how the fandom begged for an edgy darker ppg, cause they did that with the ppg movie already and viewers and even Craig claimed it was TOO DARK

I think what he claimed was that he wished it was a little lighter and sillier, not so heavy the whole time, but I get why he made the movie more heavily action packed after seeing the merchandise skew the way of cutesy jewelry and fashion kits... so basically the other way that people misinterpret the show (...and, actually, after literal years of ruminating about that, I would probably consider writing a whole post about that whole phenomenon, but that's a whole 'nother topic for a whole 'nother day). I think darkness has its place, and stuff like gore does, too, but it is interesting how it seems that that certain subsection of the fandom just craves and begs for, like, all out misery and maliciousness and seriousness, no silliness, no levity, always, all the time. It's sort of creepy.

Honestly, it wasn’t exactly hard to tell when Loki remained silent for a while, merely letting the buzzing of the fluorescent light above fill the silence that surrounded them. One could assume that his lack of words was a sign of defeat, but the mischievous smile that slowly spread across his lips proved the contrary. Satisfaction was not in his nature. Especially not when he had to grant it to anyone but himself. No – he would make her regret every single word. Whatever it would cost. Harriet had crossed a line that should not have been crossed.

Loki's pale eyes flicked between hers as he tilted his head downwards, causing his features to cast shadows on his face that made him look straight out of a horror movie. "Oh, look at you with all of your bravado", he finally taunted, his voice laced with something that bordered pure arrogance. ".. talking so confidently for such a little ant." Loki let out an amused huff as his piercing gaze took in her appearance. If she was so sure about his alleged god complex, he would give it to her – playing the role he got so used to while suppressing everything that boiled under the surface. "My 'glorious purpose' is and will always be something you could never comprehend. You don't have the mental capacity, you see?"

Again, he took a step closer and invaded the space the brunette seemed so intent on maintaining. Almost as if there was something else that sparked some sort of fear. Something that was hard to sense. Suddenly he reached out and harshly gripped her chin to force her head back a little as he towered over her. "You're really just begging me to do something about that sharp tongue of yours, aren't you?", his voice dropped lower. "The only reason why I haven't put an end to your pathetic little life is because I find you mildly amusing. That little bickering and your foolish attempts to act so strong and stubborn." Loki's fingers digged into the soft flesh of her cheeks while each of his words came down on her like a dozen missiles. "You think you're oh so clever. That you're some sort of armchair-psychologist who can psycho analyze me – but perhaps you should use that little set of skills on yourself, don't you think?" Loki gave Harriet a knowing smile as he finally let go of her chin. He had noticed the glint in her eyes, that small shiver. Though he couldn't quite grasp what it was that hid beneath her surface, he assumed that it was no good.

". . . or don't", he then added, now taking a step back while flashing her a mocking smile. "It's quite entertaining after all."
