She sighed and placed her head on his shoulders. "I feel like your friends hate me for loving you. Eli's girlfriend makes me feel so unwelcome. Almost like she prefers her over me. I feel like they're trying to take you from me and I just want them to like me." His friends posed a threat to her knowing that if anyone could get to him it'd be the two who seem to be team Nettie. "Nettie is fine just feel like she's a bully."

"She once set my clothes on fire because her boyfriend broke up with her. She claimed I took him from her. Once she has her sights on something or someone she doesn't like it when they stray. Burned down the bar because she found out I was the one Issac was straying with. She has ties to the mafia though no one can pin it on her." Nettie chuckled into her glass. "I afraid you wouldn't be able to stop it. Her connections are experts on making things seem like incidents."

Eli sighed and rubbed Laurel's back. "Leave it to him to get into a giant mess. Remind me to kick his ass later on." He kissed Laurel's forehead and went off to get Issac. "Hey, man. TV cable sizzled again. Need your expertise to fix it. If you don't mind to part with him for a few minutes?" Jazz smiled sweetly and shook her head. "Not at all." Eli returned her smile and turned to Issac giving him one of his famous looks that said he was pissed.

how do you think films and television get made?? hate to break it to you, but it's all for the money. new line cinema didn't say "we love tolkien, pj, let's do this for free!" they were literally looking for a franchise hit when they decided to take the films over from miramax - which is exactly what every studio and their mom is trying to do now!!! it's movie business, baby! to say the people behind trop - the actors, the casting directors, the production designers, the vfx artists, the art directors, the armorers, the costume designers, the set decorators, the makeup artists, the ADs, the carpenters, painters, prop-makers, steelworkers, laborers, animal handlers, sound editors, miniature builders, stuntpeople, craftspeople, movement and dialect coaches, trainers, lighting techs, jewelers, etc. - don't care about the story they're telling???? is a wild reach. obviously they work for the showrunners who work for amazon who care the most about making a profit, but so did peter jackson and new line!! wanting your project to be financially and critically successful is not an inherently evil thing, come on guys, are you still buying into the starving artist fallacy 😭

there are tons of little nods to the silmarillion and other parts of the legendarium in the rings of power. yes, there are also changes and goofs, but lotr and the hobbit film trilogies also had their fair share of changes and goofs. i just think that "these people didn't read the books/this is just a money grab/pj & co. cared about the source material while these losers clearly don't" are tired arguments used to justify subjective opinions, not to mention the way it reeks of revisionist history considering the way tolkien purists initially took great issue with deviations made in lotr and especially the hobbit.

it's almost like...the most hated tolkien adaptation is ever the current one.

A drabble for an anon asking about the prisoners watching their music videos! This is focused on specifically Mikoto’s initial shock at seeing MeMe for the first time, but just know that Double comes with a whole new set of shocks as he truly listens to John for the first time ;-;

Mikoto was no criminal. 

He didn’t know how to break into locked rooms, or hack into complex prison security systems. He figured there was no way in hell he’d be able to see these so-called incriminating videos that the Warden was recording, and had resolved himself to an eternity of wondering what they could be. He was shocked when he didn’t need to do a single thing to gain access to them – Es simply adjusted the computer monitor and told him he could hit play when (and if) he wished. Then they left the room.

“A-are you sure?” he called, but they were already gone.

Mikoto blinked at the screen. It showed a stretched version of his apartment couch, near his bathroom wall, broken to reveal sky above. He thought he could spot his tarot cards at the bottom of the frame. Had Milgram broken into his home to film this? 

He scoffed, and hit play.

Distorted guitar started up. He flinched as his own face appeared for a moment – looking directly into the camera and making a wild expression he would never have made if someone was recording. His body tensed up more as he heard his own voice start to sing lyrics he’d never spoken before in his life. He wasn’t even a good singer, and here he was sounding like a professional. 

There were plenty of ways to accomplish all of this, of course. Software could mimic one’s voice, making him say anything these crazy reality hosts wanted. A team could easily add some digital effects to a stunt double and match his appearance perfectly. Knowing that didn’t make the experience any less unsettling.

He watched himself commit a nasty murder. He watched himself return home bloodied. But it was all ridiculous. How could Milgram even claim that this was him? He’d never raised a hand to anyone in his life. Were the other prisoners’ videos as outlandish as this one?

But then, a switch. 

The song shifted to a new melody. He appeared to wake up from his couch, and suddenly Mikoto got the sense that this was him.

He was struck with how familiar this new segment sounded. It simultaneously felt like a favorite song he must have played on loop not too long ago, and one that he’d never heard before. As it played, each new note and lyric felt right on the tip of his tongue. 

It ended as quickly as it began. The song returned to the heavy-metal-murder aesthetic it had started with, and once again he felt like he was watching a cheap copy of himself onscreen. He watched another murder, a shower scene (had the warden seen all that? How embarrassing…) and then he turned to his bathroom mirror.

At the same time as his musical counterpart, Mikoto leapt backwards in horror. 

His eyes remained glued to the screen. His hand flew up to grab the lower half of his face. It was fake, he told himself. AI and CGI and all that. It was fake. It had to be. 

Something deep inside of him said “no. That’s real. That’s me.”

Something else deep inside of him echoed the sentiment.

The video was less than four minutes of music, but by the end he was panting and tugging at his hair as if he’d endured hours of prison torture. He burst out of the room. He sucked in breath after breath. The melodies still played in his mind, lines repeating in his memory as he tried to put as much distance between himself and that little television screen.

He found the others in the common room. They gave him a knowing look, but somehow he knew his experience had been very different from their own. Es approached him.

They studied his expression for a moment. Thankfully, they didn’t ask anything stupid, like “how did it go?” or “what did you think?” 

Instead, they just told him, “if you ever want to watch it again, just let me know, I can get it set up for you.”

He would want to see it again. Of course, it would be better, then. He would take a moment to calm down. He’d watch it later and everything would be okay. He’d have a clearer mind. He’d pick out all the little camera tricks they used to make it. He’d be sure it was a fake, and laugh about how ridiculous he was being now. 

Of course. Of course. 

He nodded to Es, unable to produce any words. Es left him.

The rules in this prison never made any sense, but in this case, he was grateful. He wouldn’t need to figure out any snooping or hacking to get access to the video again. After all, he was no criminal.

So I was thinking, with the joker being captured and all. What if HL is with bruce at the time of his capture and has to go to the Precinct with Bruce. She then learns of his capture but can't say anything and has to pretend she doesn't know him and maybe even br scared of him as to not attract any attention. Joker ofcourse is happy to see her but pissed that she is with Bruce.

To make the story work, maybe ran into Bruce somewhere so that's why she was with bruce. Joker gets broken out of the Precinct by his three loyal henchmen while she's still there, which also leads to some confusion on their side.

Maybe you were heading this way with the main story, so if this is the case please ignore this ask🙈

So, it is as the caption describes: I decided to listen to songs from The Greatest Showman and paused in my pacing because I was so incredibly flustered by Hugh Jackman's voice. He has... NO RIGHT sounding so fine. Singing songs that are not even that good. He was carrying.

Listened to The Greatest Show (he just sounds so good in that... also like imagine Wolverine hyping up the X-Men with this song?? man), From Now On (just imagining Logan realizing he has a new found family :,000), Come Alive (really good before the synth pop-y shit kicks in with the chorus, the part about needing to hide your face fits Wade), and of course, I rounded out the session by listening to The Other Side and imagining Deadpool trying to convince Worst Wolverine to come to his universe to save it (a concept from this post by @twilights-stuff)

The Other Side fits that scene only partially in practice because Zac Efron audibly has a shit-eating grin for most of the song. That I can work with (Logan, too, has a shit-eating grin when Deadpool holds him at gunpoint), but then he very eagerly accepts the deal towards the end of the song, which is not what happens with Wolverine... I guess you'd just have to cut the song short, but I don't know where would be best...
