Ok so the thing is, Kaeya’s so young. Assuming he didn’t lie about his age when he was found at the Dawn Winery, Diluc is older than him and they famously had their falling-out on Diluc’s eighteenth birthday. Canon starts four years after that. That means that Kaeya is a maximum of twenty-one years old, and that’s……terrifyingly young for having so much on his shoulders.

Like. Yes. That’s old to teenagers, but it’s not to any adult because at the oldest possibility of age twenty-one, Kaeya’s at or near the top of the command chain for:

Calvary Captain

Guard Captain (according to Diona)

Intelligence (I can’t tell if he’s officially the spymaster or if he’s just decided to do it, but regardless, he’s doing it)

all of Mondstat via being Jean’s right hand

Khaenri’ah (he’s sitting on an invisible throne in his splash art, the “Alberich as regents” threads are absolutely going somewhere)

maybe the Abyss Order??? no idea what’s going on there but his grandfather quite possibly founded the Abyss Order so there’s that

AND PROBABLY OTHER STUFF WE DON’T EVEN KNOW ABOUT YET

Again. Diluc is Kaeya’s older brother, and Diluc is twenty-two. And Kaeya is handling all of this. And someone needs to go make him sleep eight hours before he completely goes to pieces, because Mondstat and Khaenri’ah will probably both go to pieces after him.
