Hello, how are you? I was watching the interview for episode 200 where alex and scott answer a few things for ET Canada. They look very uncomfortable, Alex gets to be rude when answering a question. Anyway, if you have seen this interview, can you tell me about your thoughts?

Hi, anon, thank you, for your kind ask about my thoughts on this interview. I got two different versions to listen to and to watch Alex and Scott answering the questions. I know to what moment you refer to concerning the “rude” answer Alex gave the ET Canada guy for asking about their opinion on their new colleague Meaghan.

Okay, to me neither Alex nor Scott looks uncomfortable, it’s more about being in on a secret vibe only the guys get because they’re so tightly knitted together. They have fun but only the kind of fun they get because no one else can understand what they’re doing. I like the interview a lot. They make secretly fun of the interviewer and the questions. They pretend to be super serious but they hide a smile. Scott is the laid-back guy and Alex acts as if tensed and unnerved but he isn’t. I guess as an actor you have to answer tons of questions and sometimes also stupid, repetitive questions and it’s normal they grow tired of it. So, you play little, hidden fun-game.

Scott answers one question with how they can’t remember what episode they’re filming because to them it’s all the same as if H50 is anyway a “huge cultural TV show oatmeal” without much change and challenge between the episodes. And that made me giggle because that’s Scott making fun of the interviewer (as I see it). It’s like they play bad cop good cop between takes.

Alex also asks Scott in a very special tone “I’m having fun. You? Are you having fun?” And Scott’s like “yeah, I’m having fun!” And it’s so clear to me they have a totally different game going and I love it.

When asked about what they can say about Meaghan Alex wiggles his digit in a clear ‘no’ motion and denies flat out to answer any question about Meaghan because he wants to talk about “us” not about her and that she just had a 75 minutes long interview to talk about herself. I’m sure, no - I’m convinced that Alex wants to come across rough and unpolite but it’s a game. He’s acting, totally, acting. And I’m sure Meaghan listens and laughs. That’s like an inside joke among the actors, among Alex and Scott and Meaghan.

Did that answer your question? I’m sure someone else would answer your ask differently but to me, the guys take the interviewer for a ride and they have fun, but the fun is only known to Scott and Alex. And this includes Alex's “rude” answer. I like this interview a lot.

That’s what I heard, although I don’t think Steve did. He was so worried Danny would get mad at him for wanting to focus on being Five-0. They are both such precious men, and this was a great episode. It motivated me to share my perspective. Just hope others see it too.

It took me some Wikipedia search work because I originally wrote the list from memory, but here’s a version of the original post with the seasons and episode numbers added. This is an unintentional McDanno episode rec list, if you will, but with the caveat that there should be far more episodes from the early seasons on it if it were an actual rec list, probably.

7.16 - danny and steve go on a valentine’s day double date weekend with their respective girlfriends and spend the weekend together, avoiding their girlfriends

5.17 - steve and danny spend a couple of days cooped up in an old cat lady’s apartment, listening to lesbians having sex and doing their relationship therapy homework

9.07 - steve has a dream where he and danny are different people but still together all the time and he calls danny handsome

6.11 - steve accidentally books himself and danny for a weekend of luxury couple’s therapy so they go [shrug emoji] and do it anyway, attending group sessions to talk about how to have a healthy sex life, among other things

5.18 - danny goes to jail and almost dies in colombia to keep steve from getting arrested, so steve rescues him

2.10 - steve gets kidnapped and almost dies in north korea, so danny rescues him

4.21 - steve gets kidnapped and almost dies in afghanistan, so danny rescues him

5.07 - steve gets kidnapped and almost dies in hawaii, but danny still rescues him (and steve has hallucinations about danny in a hawaiian shirt)

8.10 - danny almost dies and hallucinates about a happy future where it’s implied that he might have moved in with steve, while steve has to put his finger literally inside of danny to save his life

4.19 - danny and steve almost die under a collapsed building and danny asks his girlfriend to go away for a moment so he can tell steve he loves him back

8.09 - danny and steve both almost die on a boat, side by side, drinking champagne and explicitly Not Saying something

7.18 - danny and steve transport a nuclear bomb in a truck, bicker about danny’s plans for retirement that steve feels left out of, compare their relationship to a marriage and Don’t Say Things again

8.06 - danny organizes an intervention for steve and hires a stress counsellor because he’s so worried about steve’s health, and it’s resolved with steve telling danny he loves him and that he never wants him to change

6.25 - steve gets fatally wounded so danny goes on a murderous rampage with flashbacks to steve dying to make it extra clear that he’s doing it out of revenge and then danny gives steve half of his liver to save his life

3.03 - danny and steve go on a fishing date (and find a crime scene)

1.20 - danny and steve go on a hiking date (and find a crime scene)

8.11 - danny tells his son a bedtime story about a christmas miracle that features steve as the central character and hero, while steve breaks into danny’s house late at night to eat cookies

7.23 - danny and steve are renovating charlie’s room when danny gets called away to work on an old case of his, so steve stays to finish the room and then tell charlie that it was all danny’s doing and agree with charlie that danno is the greatest

7.10 - danny’s sister is in town so danny introduces steve to her, but not his girlfriend or any of his other friends

4.15 - danny’s mom is in town so danny introduces steve to her, but not his girlfriend or any of his other friends

4.02 - steve and danny coach grace’s baseball team together

3.10 - steve and danny are supervisors at grace’s girl scouts camp together

7.08 - steve rescues danny and grace from a hostage situation at a school dance, so danny invites steve to kiss him or pick a base and they walk away arm in arm with grace tucked close

5.15 - danny freaks over grace getting texts from a boy so steve talks him down repeatedly and says that romance is in the air. also, it’s another valentine’s day and danny gets a text from his girlfriend while he’s spending it with steve
