Of Gods and Witches
Chapter 4
M-ish 🔞
Taglist: @v3d3rl1cht
(Yes, Guatemalan-Puerto Rican Actress Afria Arjona is my faceclaim for Eva)
Vw: mentions of sex, animal death, previous attempted sexual assault
Gif by @queenlagerthaa
She was born in December 1st 1896 to Henry Smith, the son of an English Romani woman and her Irish Traveller husband, and Isabel Riley, the youngest daughter of an Irish born Mexican war hero and his wealthy Spanish-Mexica wife.
She was supposed to be born December 12th, but someone had wagered ten thousand pesos that her mother could not get the next Pope to baptize her child.
So with the help of castor oil, Eva’s mother’s waters broke inside the Sistine Chapel.
While the circumstance of her birth was no coincidence, the fact that Isabel went into labor underneath God’s Creation of Eve was.
And so, the witch named the only child who inherited her gifts and all the luck in the world ---as well as the money Isabel had won with her cunning---, Eva Leonor Smith Riley.
It was that luck that kept her alive and would keep her so.
“I used to have a cacatúa with feathers like that.” She said as she stroked the feathers on his ankle wings making him groan in arousal and laugh at her words.
Eva was supposed get up and look for her clothes, but then she finally had a chance at touching his wings.
She had felt them brushing against her legs on occasion, hearing them flutter a little when they fucked.
For a moment the witch wondered if he’d take off when he came. This he had laughed at when she told him.
“What happened to it?” K’uk’ulkan asked amused and looking more disheveled than her.
His jewels and accessories had been strewn about when both god and witch gave into their lust and tore each other’s clothes off.
K’uk’ulkan was to be her first and her last, and even if she survived and lived long enough to marry, no man would ever compare to him.
“Got eaten by a black jaguar. My grandmother’s hacienda borders the jungle, and I thought I was doing a good deed by releasing it into the wild.” She answered sheepishly and he chuckled at her anecdote. “A very stupid thing to do, I know, but I was a child of nine.”
And a very odd thing to say to a man when you had done this with the intentions of taking him into your mouth, the witch thinks. Spirits, why was she even telling him this? This was supposed to be just sex.
“If you keep touching my wings like that, you won’t be able to walk for days.” He says so crudely, as if the witch didn’t want that to happen.
“You say that like it’s a bad thing, Kukul.” She smirked and lifted herself over his chest until she is just a whisper away from his mouth.
He doesn’t like the casual use of the nickname, made her call him Namor as he took her when she struggled to get pronounce his three-syllable name.
“Don’t call me that, wàay.” His hand, warm and calloused like that of a farm hand came to her neck.
She stills, but he doesn’t register that she is not comfortable with that.
Had she been different she would’ve found it erotic.
But she is Eva, and Eva has enough baggage to fill one of her family’s cargo ships.
“The last man who put his hand around my neck ended up with my hunting knife embedded in his skull.” She breathes out and he releases her, his hand moving upwards, to thread itself with her hair and pulling her to his mouth.
She doesn’t mind the hair pulling, not when she gets to pull his in return. His hair is soft, she had expected it to be coarse from the salt, but he had hair as smooth as the dandies who spend thousands of pesos in French hair products.
K’uk’ulkan kissed her deeply, he likes to kiss with tongue, taste her until she must pull him away because she can’t breathe.
He didn’t have such weakness, K’uk’ulkan was more god than man and she was his worshipper, his priestess, his witch.
“You are a dangerous one, aren’t you?” his voice alone is enough to make her come undone; he is as perfect as a lover as he was a stranger.
“You have no idea.”
He leaves without so much as a goodbye, why would he, this had just been them giving into the pull they felt towards each other.
Two lonely souls who have been drawn together just for a perfect moment.
But the witch can’t help but smile when she finds the two-strand pearl necklace forgotten under her silk robe.

Backstory/Background:
Was born prematurely in Atlanta, Georgia, the youngest child of Nicolas and Laryn Carvey. He has an older sister that was eleven years old when he was born. Jason had a relatively normal life in his middle class family. Up until the day he was about six years old. His older sister and him had been left home alone for the weekend while their parents were out of state handling a family affair. Corrine, his sister, had been about eighteen at the time. She was meant to look after her younger brother the next several days. This had been going well until Corinne’s girlfriend had come over Sunday night, the evening before their parents were to come home Monday afternoon. Jason had just finished eating the dinner Corinne had made for him and was setting down to color as cartoons played on the tv.
He could hear the two talking for sometime as he was coloring and watching Archer on FX. Soon enough the talking erupted into arguing from the two. Which lasted some time before Corinne’s girlfriend finally left, with a lot of commotion. Jason’s sister soon came to join him after a few moments, changing the channel to something that he didn’t actually like, which had him complaining. Soon enough Corinne had closed his coloring book and told him to get ready for bed, even though it was early, which Jason again complained earning a yell from his sister that sent him into the following order to go prepare for bed. Once that had been finished he lay in bed for some time before finally falling asleep. Only to wake to a noise of glass breaking. Scared at first he sat up in bed, but dismissed the noise a moment later when he figured he had only dreams the noise.
Getting up then he walked from his room and down the steps in the darkness to the kitchen, flicking on the light he moved toward the kitchen table, pulling a chair to the counter so he could climb onto it and get a drink, pulling a glass down and filling it with water. Once he was finished with that, he decided he had wanted a snack. Though a dark figure rushed quietly behind him, grabbing them in their arm. Their left hand wrapped around mouth to stop him from screaming. Soon he was lifted off the floor, just as Corinne rushed into the hallway between the kitchen and the living room, shouting at the dark figure to stop, another figure in a costume following her down the stairs. Grabbing Corinne by the hair and throwing her down onto the floor. His sister was bleeding, he noticed, from her side.
Stressing out at what was playing out in front of him, Jason tried to kick and wiggle himself free from the stranger currently holding them tightly in their arms. They moved closer to his sister and their partner, the knife in the other dark figures hand moving up, the pointed end getting within inches of Jason’s face as the figure crouched over his sister hissed out that they were going to kill him first and make her watch before some other strange demand that, really, didn’t mean much of anything to the young boy as he struggled to break free of the hold he was in. As his sister fought to get the other off her, she kicked them in the face, twisting the mask around to face Jason, his breath catching when he saw what it was. His mind went to all the horror stories he had heard a majority of his young life.
Of course, he had also seen the Stab movies based on those stories, via his sister’s negligence in regard to what a child his age was recommended to watch. Even though he was not very interested in those movies initially, frightened of them generally. But he had grown used to them. To see what was playing out in front of him however, was a complete and total shock to his entire system, his eyes started rolling into his head after a moment. His body became tense and started to jerk violently, his mind going completely blank in the moments that followed. Then there was a crack in his neck, before he finally went limp in the arms of the costumed figure that held him. He didn’t know or remember anything from this point on until some time later when coming around but being unable to move. He could hear sobbing and hysterical shouting, along with the sounds of scuffling happening somewhere nearby, accusations of ‘killing’ and ‘murdering’ being shouted and two other voices chiming in with taunts.
His memory of this time faded in and out with his consciousness along the event. Then there his sister was again, her face inches from his own, nearly lifeless. Though he couldn’t make that out at the time, he was watching her die. It seemed both the people who had attacked them had left them that way. Possibly thinking Jason had already been dead, and then just tossing Corinne’s bloodied body next to him once they had finished with her. Jason had felt as his sister's blood inched across the floor, circling around his head, felt its slight warmth go old and it started to gel up against his own flesh. After a while, he didn’t feel saddened by what was in front of him, his sister's corpse, but fascinated by it. Watching the life flicker out of her, her final struggled breathes as she tries to cling to life, the death rattle that follows after. Jason watched it all, for the remaining hours of night, throughout the morning hours, into the afternoon hours, when their parents returned home, finding what they thought were two dead children, till the authorities arrived and confirmed his condition.
Jason had broken his neck, severing his spine during his seizure while being held by the intruder, causing him to go through several painstaking surgeries in the years to follow, but he did regain his mobility just as he had had as if he never had broken his neck before then. As well, they had identified he had been stabbed three times, but Jason had no recollection of this when asked about it, along with what else had happened that night. He couldn’t answer many of those questions to begin with. Only that one of them looked like ‘The bad guy from Stab’. Following this Jason and his parents tried to return him back to a normal life, burying his sister and moving on the best they could from this. But Jason had obviously been changed from this event, and would have to attend therapy for his physical and mental health, until he left it with Greg’s persuasion in his later teens. Jason would have nightmares for the few years that followed, about watching his sister’s death.
About two years after the incident his father would die from illness as well, dealing another blow to Jason’s overall mental health. Drawing him closer to the fascination with death he was fostering in that time. Nearly ten years after his sister's murder his mother would also die just before he would go to college, in a car accident. Greg was the only one that was there for him in all those years. Who had shown him places on the internet he could go to feel like he was a part of something more than just stuck in his loneliness and feelings outside of what others had considered the norm.
In the years before his mothers death Jason spent much of his time connecting to others of the deviant nature, who encouraged Jason’s, along with plenty others, fascination with death, to be more specific, the Stab franchise and the true history behind those. Over those years, his friendship with Greg had gone from a late childhood best friend to them both usually being obsessed with one another and their obsession’s both good...and certainly bad. Bouncing off each other's hype, an entirely different world was molded around them both, inhibiting Jason’s delusions about being better than others, making him believe he should be able to kill others for ‘the movie’. That movie being itself an entirely other factor of his mental deterioration, along with his obsession with it.
Jason would later fail to finish the movie and be stabbed by Richie’s father nearly fifteen times and almost die. But just as when his neck was broken, he clung to life just long enough to be helped in the end by people who probably thought it would have been better to have not bothered at all. He would spend several months or so in the ICU from his injuries. When he did wake up again he found himself cuffed to the bed. Screaming out for Greg, Jason was authentically out of his mind from the mix of delusion and reality converging inside of his mind, screaming out for his mom one day, his sister another, and Greg any other time, to come help him.
Jason is later found guilty of his crimes, and goes to prison.
Jason escapes the hospital and is living as a fugitive.
Jason never followed through with killing Laura Crane and continues life as some little edgelord.
Jason doesn’t kill Laura, and is never influenced to become a Ghostface.
Jason doesn’t give a fuck about the movies.
Someone brings him back to life Friday the 13th Style and he starts running around dressed up similar to Jason Voorhees, the movies being a favorite of his, as well, of course this alternative opens up many other possibilities to Jason.
(Work In Progress)
Personality:
Focused, Self-Sufficient, Spontaneous, Dedicated, Rational, Active, Challenging, Dominating, Surprising, Neutral, Chummy, Unfathomable, Moody, Vindictive, Cruel, Imprudent, Small-Thinking, Shortsighted, Sadistic,
Quirks/Savvies/Other: Intentionally talks like an edgelord to fit in with his social group on the internet (They actually find him to be very annoying). Jason might have a crush on Greg. Is not sexually active. Is mostly attracted to males. Greg and Jason have known each other since their late childhood. The two friends both bonded over their mutual love of horror movies while growing up near each other. Possibly has more kills than just Laura, but might just simply be an edgelord, and certainly a fucking loser. It’s his shrine for the most part. Greg perhaps, because of Jason’s history with his sister, used this to groom Jason, since Greg is only attracted to Jason’s encounter with the murder of his sister. His sister’s killers have not been found, or their identities made public. Jason kept in tentative contact with Corinne’s ex-girlfriend and remained on friendly terms with the older woman’s older brother, who he saw from time to time as he grew up after the murder. Jason has a fascination with watching people die. He also has an air constriction fetish. Only killed Laura because she gave him a bad grade. Recites strange facts. Can’t focus on working when others are moving around. Annoyed by muttering. Stress organizes/cleans. Has poor alcohol tolerance. An Evening in Guatemala City
I was roped in for a taxi booking but he spoke English well and I wanted to be clear about where I was going so it was worth being ripped off. I asked to be driven to Zone 1 which would’ve been Q80 or $12 - the same price as if I’d gone to Antigua which is about an hour away! At least in local currency it was cheaper than using dollars. I asked if this area was safe and he told me not really, there are a lot of people on drugs. He said I would be a target because I'm very white and have a big backpack so he told me to avoid it. We agreed then that he’d just take me to Zone 4 from the get go and I’d not see the old city for this trip, being that it was too unsafe to walk there alone late in the afternoon with a big backpack. I didn’t want to be a statistic so I figured I’d just walk around in Zone 4 for a few hours, get some food and get my ride to Antigua later. When I was dropped off the rain had stopped and it all looked safe, the streets had lots of hip cafes and restaurants, and street art. It had vibes of Berlin, Tel Aviv or Porto and definitely not what I expected from this “hotspot of violent crime”. You could’ve told me this was a suburb of Tokyo and I would’ve believed it because the streets were so clean. Maybe it was because of the rain, or being a Monday but there were hardly any people around outside so I felt safe, although I gave people a wide berth just in case. A Japanese influenced place caught my eye and I saw a menu with Nutella taiyakis on it! Obviously I had to get one since they’re pretty hard to come by outside of Japan… I asked for one and paid Q30 but got a plate of three. Sickly sweet, and one would’ve been plenty but I had to eat the lot since I didn’t want to waste them! As I was eating I had a guy wheel up his trolley of phone accessories and try to sell me something, another came up and tried to have me buy a rose. Oldest trick in the book! I sat down for a really good flat white way past my coffee curfew of 2pm at Rojo Cerezo. It was worth it, to have such a good coffee for Q20 in Guatemala where the beans were probably grown within 30km of here. I decided to go with Mr Taco for dinner, it was Q30 for 3 tacos which I thought was reasonable. I managed to order properly in Spanish too, she told me they didn’t have any chicken so I went with beef instead. They came out on corn tortillas and the lady told me to try the toppings from the bar, I went with salsa verde, salsa roja and piña as my toppings. The pineapple was the best but all were good considering how cheap, quick, and filling it was. I’m going to be a big fan of tacos going forward! Phone supply guy came in and was flogging off cases left and right, some of the other patrons actually bought cases - unbelievable! It felt staged. Before I left to go to the fancy Conquistador Hotel for my shuttle to collect me I had to try the baño here. It seems like Guatemalans call them sanitorios instead and this one was a treat. With my bag on I could barely squeeze inside and when I did, the latch was just a chain like on a hotel room door to hold it closed. This bathroom had definitely been built by some average joes! I was waiting for my shuttle inside the hotel but there must’ve been some confusion because I was not a guest there and the driver didn’t come inside looking for me. I moved outside to draw attention to myself and lucky I had because a driver called me over and said he’d been waiting a long time for me, once I was on wifi again I also saw that they’d emailed me saying the driver will not wait. I sent them a bit of a heated email back since the guy hadn’t even bothered to come inside the hotel to look for me and would’ve just left me stranded in Guatemala City… but I arrived in Antigua after a crazy ride with the driver going way too fast and passing literally everyone else on the road. He sped through the cobblestones in Antigua and it was so bumpy I felt like we were off roading in the van but he dropped me off right at my door and I could check in with a very smiley man to rest before my early pick up the morning.

How Buy Good. Feel Good. Is Making It Easy To Send Ethical And Sustainable Christmas Gifts
Amazonite Bracelet by Daria Day
Buy Good. Feel Good is a supercool marketplace as a one-stop-shop for conscious consumers looking to shop ethical and sustainable products and a platform that enables people to give purpose to every purchase they make.
I caught up with founder Rafik Riad to find out more about some of his favorite brands for the holiday gifting season.
Afdhel Aziz: Hi Rafik, welcome! Please tell us a little about Buy Good. Feel Good. and how the online marketplace came about?
Rafik Riad: We like to think of our Buy Good. Feel Good. marketplace as a one-stop-shop for conscious consumers looking to shop ethical and sustainable products and a platform that enables people to give purpose to every purchase they make.
We only got into the online realm this year. 2020 has certainly been the year of embracing change for us as we had to cancel 3 expos planned both in Toronto and LA. We originally started in 2014 with a physical marketplace in Toronto and slowly started expanding to the US. But when COVID hit, we had to pivot, which is how we became an online marketplace. Our mission remains the same though, we support social enterprises that are putting people and planet first by offering customers alternatives that really make a difference. No matter what you’re on the hunt for, when you shop Buy Good. Feel Good., you help drive the world of e-commerce to a more positive place by supporting brands that push for sustainability and social justice.
Rafik Riad, Founder of Buy Good. Feel Good.
Aziz: Let’s talk about some of your favorite brands and products on the site, starting with gifts for kids?
Riad: That’s a tough one! It is really hard to pick when our roster of vendors is so impressive.
But with everyone staying home for the holidays I’m loving the Boredom Relief Kit from Buena Onda. It’s the perfect way to bring endless games to your home for the whole family, and you’ll feel good about supporting a brand that sustainably employs Mayan artisans in the villages surrounding Lake Atitlán, Guatemala, who handcraft their colourful creations.
The Nurturing Love Blanket from Thread Talk is another one. This soft snuggly organic cotton blanket sized just right for all the love bugs in your life is lovely and 10% of the proceeds goes to help victims of domestic violence across the US.
For something fun, guilt-free, and creative to do with your toddler, the Indigo Dye Kit from The Good Tee, complete with a toddler t-shirt, is definitely a winner. It’s a great introduction for young kids into the beauty of creating color from nature. The Good Tee is a positive example of responsibly made apparel that is fully traceable from farm to warehouse in order to minimize their footprint and measure their environmental impact.
Indigo Dye Kit from The Good Tee, complete with a toddler t-shirt
Aziz: How about gifts for women, what are you loving right now?
Riad: For gifts for women we have so many options to choose from. One of my personal favorites as a gift is the Cactus Necklace available in gold and silver from Kind Karma Company. The cactus symbolizes persistence and resilience because these beautiful plants live in the harshest conditions and are still able to thrive just like the at-risk and homeless youth in Toronto that handcraft the fine jewelry for this social impact brand.
For a gift that helps block out stress in these unprecedented times, the Amazonite Bracelet by Daria Day features hand-cut, smooth Amazonite gemstones (known to soothe energy levels) that are highlighted by a silver patterned separator bead. The bracelet has a quiet sophistication to it and I love the fact that the brand’s mission is to provide artisans at the foothills of K2 Mountain in North Pakistan with a sustainable livelihood while bringing to the market traceable, unique jewelry.
If you’re looking for a real treat for the women in your life, I suggest you check out the Mirabal Handmade Leather Tote by Brave Soles. This gorgeous classic bag is in a distinct class of its own. Brave Soles products are handmade in Dominican Republic using upcycled tire soles with partner local artisans and suppliers using small scale production and local employment.

Aziz: And for men, who are the brands and products on your radar?
Riad: This one’s a little easier for me because I have a couple of the products in my cart right now!
The Havana Leather Boot by Adelante Shoe Co. is the ultimate staple of ruggedness and class. Expertly made by skilled Guatemalan craftsmen, the boot is designed with the highest quality full-grain leather – and I’m a big fan of their made-to-order model that delivers you a personalized pair of shoes that helps support their craftsmen and their families with access to education, food, and proper means of transportation.
I also can’t wait to get my hands on the Vegan Dopp Kit by Deux Mains. This beautifully handcrafted dopp kit is made using upcycled leather and inner tire tubes in a one of a kind, Port-Au-Prince factory that is completely solar-powered. Deux Mains do a great job of combining artisanal techniques with industrial production to offer eco-friendly, fashion-forward handbags and accessories, made ethically in Haiti.
With the cold weather setting in, the Helyat Handwoven Shawl by Dandarah will become a classic staple to any look. Handwoven by artisans in the Egyptian rural village of Nagada, I feel an affinity with this brand as I am originally from Egypt and I am happy to give Dandarah a platform to support economically and socially marginalized artisans in Egypt, mostly women and minorities, to improve their economic and social conditions.

Aziz: And finally, how about home and lifestyle?
Riad: With the holidays coming up I am really looking forward to a lot of sleep! And Takasa’s Warm Luxurious Organic Cotton Bed Sheet Set will be the cherry on top. Finished in warm and luxurious sateen, this fair trade and organic cotton set is ethically made in India, from farm to finished product, and is manufactured using environmentally safe methods and is free from harmful chemicals.
I recently bought a new place, and I’m eyeing these Mini Ceramic Vessels from Women of the Cloud Forest to add a little color and flavour to our living space. These decorative vessels are handcrafted in a family workshop in San Juan de Oriente, Nicaragua, and the intricate geometric designs are etched by hand using a sharpened bicycle spoke. I’m also really impressed with the brand for offering no-interest micro-loans and direct grants for workshop capacity building, in addition to providing fair pricing for their artisan partners through cost analysis sessions.
The Essential Oils Starter Kit by Savhera, makes for an amazing gift that encourages wellness. This kit is the perfect introduction to the world of organic essential oils, each with their unique qualities, and Savhera’s USDA certified organic essential oils are the gateway to living-wage and professional employment for sex trafficking survivors from Delhi, India.
I’ll be adding some cheer to the holiday dinner table with the Celebration Runner & Placemat Set from Mayamam Weavers. I’m loving the vibrant colors of this handwoven, 100% cotton set. Mayamam Weavers are inspired by the rich colors and patterns of traditional weaving techniques of Mayan culture and all their products are made by weavers and seamstresses in the western highlands of Guatemala.

Tuesday- Antigua, Guatemala-- Last day!
Hai- Morgan and I started our day early- we ate at the same place we had before and got a nice Guatemalan “Eggs Benedict”- also the best damn cappuccinos in town. Her and I then went to pick up my boots! I had a pair of boots made while we were here- such a deal, less than a pair of nikes back home. Jose, even traced my foot, let me pic my fabric and everything…I was nervous to get them but they are perfect and I love them! Success. Then we went to wake up Benjamin with a piece of banana bread. We started afternoon by hitting up the local version of what we thought was going to have Mexican food- but was really like a KFC- we sat down and ate, it was decent. Nothing to write home about. Then we scooted over to the market that was next door. At first glance it looks like normal sized, we start to mosey on in, Morgan and I found key chains, she finds ANOTHER POUCH (disclaimer- Morgan is the pouch queen this trip- and has bought about 67 total- they are slowly accumulating on her cross-body) then we decide to venture into the interior part of this mall- it’s essentially a super target. They have fruit, bras, underwear, shirts, souvenirs…as we venture in we find more fruit, a restaurant, car tires, more accessories, meat, textiles, dog leashes, DVDs, CDs, TVs, chickens, and a whole area dedicated to PINATAS! Now we are what feels like half a mile in- no sunlight from outside…we are lost…in the Guatemalan Super Target sauce. Send the rescue team. We decide it’s time to start attempting to emerge back on to the street- and finally what seemed like 30 minutes but was probably closer to 3 walk later we do, on the total other side of the street about half a mile from where we started. After this we knew we had to find our masks- the search began. After hitting abut 3 more stores we finally found them! We settled on tow that were declared to be our spirit animals by the Mayan Shaman. Fitting. For dinner we wanted some traditional Guatemalan food. We search online to find a place with good reviews, and as we walk up it’s the first place Morgan and I wanted to eat at on the first day but decided not too since Benjamin was sick- yass! Good food Karma right there. It was super cute on the inside, we treated ourselves to some wine. We had some delish Guatemalan fare. We had ceviche, some meat with sauces, and a black bean soup…and the salsa and chips were the best so far!
Bai- We had been looking forward to Pollo Campero since everyone told us it was good, etc etc. Less than impressed. But at least we are eating like the locals?
