As Small beafts they probably have high metabolisms, probably less than a humans. Which would lead to excellent angst.

I think he should live forever and ever and he’s like the heirloom tortoise of the human resistance. He’s a little old man and you have to heat up his little rice bag for him to put on his joints because the cold makes his arthritis worse.
