Said The Moon To His Sun, Upon The Failing Of The Light
Hush now, my Sun, and rest your weary head. Too long have the clouds covered you, now let the Moon take your place. Evening brings the darkness and something evil is drawing near, but rest yourself my Sun - I'll keep them safe until you wake.
We could not say goodbye, my Sun, so I will not grieve you yet. Or perhaps I'll grieve forever, in the quiet, in the loud, as I sleep, and as I wake. Either way, whatever way, I'll keep you, no matter how far, no matter how long, no matter what becomes my fate.
The promises we made, the way our souls entwined, I could not love you as you wanted, but I love you all the same.
They stole away your laugh, they stole away your light, they stole away your body, but you never gave up the fight.
Rest now, my Sun, rest well. I'll make the night gentle, I'll bind her until she's kind, let yourself rest, let your soul heal, find peace in sleep, I hope, and if not then in gracious Death.
Even if they take our memories, even if time turns all we are to the dust, even if i cannot save you, even if you are truly lost... Your presence was a blessing, you have saved so many lives, I will wait for you each morning, and I will make this right.
But you would not want that legacy, of violence and of war. You will come back when you are ready, or you won't come back at all. I cannot save you from this fate, I cannot come to you this time, you will heal or you will die and it's your own fate you must find.
I know not where they've taken you, I know not what you fight, but you are stronger than I could ever be, my Sun, my friend, my light.
So instead my Sun I'll keep you, in our children and our friends, and I'll look for you each morning, I'll greet each sunrise as your friend.
I'll continue onwards, in this place we called a home. Eternity is not so very long, if that's what it takes you to find my side.
Someday we'll soar on void-black wings, as I promised we would, we'll be as children of the gods! Someday you'll wake, you'll find yourself, someday you'll beat the odds. I believe in you, my Sun, I trust you, I love you, now trust that in me your dreams will never die!
For I know how much the world has taken you, I know it stole your light. I know you've been hurting so very long, that there's only so long you could carry on - put down your burdens, I'll keep going in your stead. I wish I could have held you one last time, but I won't begrudge your rest, I will not begrudge you even a single breath.
Sleep well, my Sun, my dearest friend. Together we will fly, when your dawning comes again.
You were the best of us, Forever.
I'll miss you.
