I am sending you Atem for the break down
O. 1. How do you feel about this character?
I'm obsessed with him he's my darling angel I'm punting him like a football I am applying all manner of miseries to him. He is literally Mister Yu Gi Oh himself. And I go AUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGHWWWWWWWWWWwwwwwwwwgHHHHGHGHGHG every time I see him. He is one of my favs for sure
2. All the people you ship romantically with this person?
Okay half the time he is my aroace king. BUT. Ryou Bakura Seto Kaiba Thief King Bakura as well as Jonouchi and Anzu to an extent. They're all different flavors of relationship to be sure
3. My non-romantic OTP with this character:
I realize the canon-accurate answer here is probably Yugi, but I looooooovvvvveeee Mana and Atem as besties. Delightful.
4. My unpopular opinion about this character:
I don't think he was a bad king but also I'm not sure if he was exactly a good king either. He was a good person, which is an entirely separate thing. Tbh it seems like he could be pretty easily manipulated by anyone. Think of how easily he just trusted Siamun because he looked a little like his grandfather. All things considered I think he was mostly a figurehead.
5. One thing that I wish had happened to this character in canon?
HOW ABOUT HIM STAYING ALIVE I really wish we had gotten more of a chance to see him interacting with his friends and seeing some of his emotional development before the millennium world arc. Also during mw arc I would have liked to see him try and reconcile a little more with the whole kul elna massacre thing and mayyyyyyyybe consider that maybe the issue here wasn't just individuals committing atrocities but an entire system developed to let people get away with said atrocities?
I realize thats probably asking too much of yugioh. but. still.

biography.
Giada was just a child when her father uprooted his family from Milan, Italy to New York City to join her grandfather in the Serpents gang he would eventually become a council member of. Growing up, she was the principessa, and apple of her mafiosa father’s eye. Though she was surrounded by the family business, daddy’s little girl was always thought to be just that and young Giada was kept as in the dark as much as possible when it came to his dirty work, deemed by her father a man’s business. It was a challenge that made his endeavors all the more intriguing to her. While her mother urged her to help her with Sunday dinner, Giada found herself sneaking off to play cards and smoke cigars with the neighborhood kids. She was sharp, intuitive, and business savvy taking after her father more than mother. Quickly, she learned the ways of the streets, and the higherary of the families. Eager to prove herself, Giada used her cleverness to hustle kids and make a pretty penny. Her efforts only disappointed her parents, and the more Giada was kept away the more she began to rebel, even falling for a boy from a rival family. Naturally, it couldn’t work and by the time Giada was 17, she was shipped back to the motherland in hopes of straightening her out and keeping her away from the family business. She lived with her Zia Teresa outside of Milan learning the ways of the old country. Her zia taught her all the secrets behind the family recipes, how to sew, tend a garden, and above all else that the most important thing in this life is family. After living in Italy for five years, Giada returned from the fashion capital not only with renewed sense of clarity, but with a degree in fashion merchandising. She and her siblings became incredibly close afterwards, and she is the first one to invite everyone over for Sunday dinner and a round of scopa. She found love and met a person who would later become her ex-fiance. In return, her father gifted her Moda Bella, not only as a reward for a job well done but also as another distraction in hopes she would be too busy with the boutique to concern herself with business dealings. And for a while that’s exactly what Giada did; she kept her cards close and played the long game. For while there is a queen in the deck, one must be careful how they play it. When the D’Amiano patriarch passed, she couldn’t help but jump at the chance to become a part of the serpents in her father's honor. She started off small, offering up her boutique as a stronghold in addition to 30 percent of the earnings and eventually working her way up the ranks, even becoming a leader for a few short years. Now at 41, Giada has gambled away her chance at love and a family of her own to be dealt in at The Serpents table. She earned a spot as a council member with a hunger to keep the momentum going. She is willing to do just about anything to prove that she too can play with the big boys.

Daniel was born to Isobel Richmond and Dennis Walker. When his mother was pregnant with him, his father disappeared never to be in contact again. Dennis found out about Isobel's hunting family and carrying the werewolf gene escaped before they were able to find out. For the first year it was just him and his mom and grandparents. Shortly before he was one, his mother met another male Thomas Stevens. At first Isobel kept Daniel distant from Thomas not wanting to get Daniel attached to someone who would walk out. However as things progressed the relationship between Daniel and Thomas also developed and soon Daniel had a dad in his life. When he was three, Thomas, Isobel and Daniel went on a family trip, where Thomas proposed to Isobel with Daniel holding the ring.
After the marriage their family life was perfect. Daniel grew up with regular visits to his grandparents and spent time playing with close friends of the family who had kids of a similar age. He developed a close bond with Aliyah and Asher which grew as they got older. As Daniel reached twelve, his mother and father had another child, another boy. However the child was born prematurely and spent eleven months in hospital before dying from complications from his underdeveloped lungs. This caused Daniel to withdraw slightly, seeing such horrors of the natural world at such an early age.
Only a few years later, his father was killed. He was told it was a car accident at first, until his grandfather convinced Isobel to tell Daniel the truth. His Grandpa thought Daniel was now old enough to know of the supernatural world and the part it played in his father's death. It was then he started begging to be trained as a hunter along with the other members of his family. It was only when he was seventeen that he finally because his training.
During this time his friendship with Aliyah and Asher grew. He spent nights at a time there, and integrated with their family. Daniel graduated high school and got onto his college course. However the tragedies in Daniels life kept coming. His mother was diagnosed with a terminal illness and during that time his grandmother and grandfather both died. He spent several weeks living at the hospital with his mother before she succumbed to the illness and he was face with the reality of going home alone.
The friendship between Asher and Daniel had shifted during this time and despite both being in the closet with the sexualities, an emotional connection grew. Asher would spend hours with Daniel just in silence as he adjusted to the tragedies he was faced with. Soon that emotional connection grew to a physical connection and the pair were soon in love. To Daniel he was done... he was in love and while his life wasn't perfect, it felt perfect to him. For years the pair were together nothing really seemed odd with them spending so much time together since they had grownup so close.
When Daniel turned twenty four, he received an engraved ring off Asher as a gift. He was happy, and the pair were heading home, when a drunk driver drove straight towards them. Daniel pushed Asher out of the path of the oncoming vehicle before it drove through Daniel and Daniel flew over the car. He died in Asher's arms.
He was done. Until he wasn't. He now finds himself back alive, but has kept away from Asher, hoping he had been able to move on and not wanting to uproot him, but had contacted Aliyah and kept in contact with her.

“My father told me: Ana, Davide is from another world, we are people next door.”
When young Ana Galocha (Seville, 1985) drew for hours at her home in Mairena del Alcor, she had no idea how her life would change in 2014. While working at the Shoko nightclub in Madrid, where she had settled six years earlier to become an actress, a friend wanted to introduce her to Davide, the son of Carlo Ancelotti, but she did not show much interest. "I didn't know anything about football. I pictured him as a typical goofball. We started talking and two months later he went to Seville to surprise me. I told him I couldn't stay because I rarely go to Seville because I can't afford it, and when I do, it's with my family. If he wanted to see me, he had to come to my parents' house for dinner. And he came!” Ana explains. Their worlds were polar opposites. Ana's father, an electrician, worked at the Morón de la Frontera air base, and her mother "in factories, picking fruit, olives ...". Davide (Parma, 1989) was a footballer and was already a physical trainer working with his father at Real Madrid. “My father told me: Ana, Davide is from another world, we are people next door. He was afraid I was just a whim of him". But they continued their relationship. "Now my parents defend him more than I do when we fight!" she smiles. Galocha lives discreetly and gets nervous at the beginning of the interview. At the age of 21, she came to Madrid to study Interpretation. “I had a hard time making ends meet. I shared an apartment, worked as a flight attendant, waitress, reporter ... One day my mother came to me, opened the refrigerator and saw that it was empty. She didn't say anything to me, but she started crying again because I had nothing to eat. I was about to give up, but I kept going, and that's how life got me to where I am now." - she says. Today, she still lives in the capital with Davide and her twins, Leo and Lucas, and can do what she has loved most since she was a child: painting. “My photos inspire me. I try to have fun, I try colors, shapes, techniques... I'm self-taught. I graduated from art high school, but I didn't want to go to art because they made me paint with deadlines and what they wanted, which made me lose my love for what I liked the most.” Even though she hasn't exhibited her work yet and has sold a few paintings ("I'm a very bad seller"), she has a waiting list. "It's special when I paint my children, but the most significant drawing was a portrait of my grandfather, which I made in pencil, gave it to him, and he kept it at home until he died." During these eight years he accompanied Davide to Naples, Liverpool, Parma and Munich. “When he was without a team, we lived in my city and he has adapted phenomenally, he is very humble and more urban than me!” she laughs. “He is calm and I am very impulsive. He likes to be at home and I like to go out. He is very shy and I am not at all. But our secret is to trust and respect our spaces.” It's hard for her to remember the exact day of the proposal, which was in 2017. “It was the last day of our holiday in Formentera. We were going to dinner, Carlo (Ancelotti) called us and kept asking about dinner. He was his son's accomplice! We got to the restaurant and there was a flamenco group that I love and that Davide had hired. We had a bottle of wine and he asked me if we could order another. I was surprised because there were two of us. We ask for it and we invite musicians. And there he put a ring on me. I was empty and it took me a while to say yes." - she's joking. Twice they had to cancel the wedding due to the pandemic, and a week before the wedding, Ana showed off her impulsiveness. “I had a wedding dress ready for two years, but I got bored of it. I went to Barcelona alone. I tried one on a mannequin and three days before the wedding they shipped it to my house. Our wedding reception was a great surprise along with the celebration our friends organized for us.” Of course, their families were with them, who experienced this day intensively. "Carlo is a very calm and friendly man. We get along really well. At first it's hard for him to open up, but then ... he loves jokes. He speaks Spanish and Italian, and I don't understand most of them, but I burst out laughing. Besides, he likes flamenco and as a grandfather he is wonderful, although he works a lot and we don't see each other as often as we would like. We go to his house in the summer and he loves to cook pasta for the whole family. He is a great cook.” - says Ana about the coach of Real Madrid. Ana Galocha's future is not yet written. She has many dreams to fulfill. "I'm back in acting and doing a DJ course. I want to enjoy my paintings and I have no great ambitions in this respect.” As for the new movement, he has everything clear. “Davide is not going to China! He really wants to work in teams in Europe, but if he went to China, I would go with him."

The Supernaturals: Alisson Becker
Tags: @millythegoat, @alissonbecksfan234, @rubybecker-rb2, @moomin279, @lfc-fanfiction
He has the wings of a butterfly.
Ever since Alisson was a youngster, he'd been a bit different. He didn't really like rough and tumble games like some of the other boys, only joining them to play catch up with his brother Muriel. He'd always stuck close to Muriel like a koala hugging a tree, feeling like he would be crushed or attacked. He was smaller than most other boys his age, and that plus his shy personality would help him disappear into the background.
Goalkeeping was in his veins; his parents and grandfather had all been goalkeepers of some sort. And it just happened to be so Muriel decided to dedicate his life towards the art of football goalkeeping as well. Alisson quietly followed in his footsteps, falling in love with the gloves more and more as the days went by.
He'd only discovered his abilities once he'd left Novo Hamburgo, moving with his brother to Internacional. He and Muriel were walking across a street, when an eighteen-wheeler truck had surprised the pair speeding towards them, way above the speed limit. By instinct Alisson had latched onto Muriel for protection, only for the two of them to shoot into the air and remain there. It was then that Muriel noticed that his younger brother of five years had sprouted a pair of lilac butterfly wings.
The brothers had decided to keep Alisson's powers a secret from everybody, even their parents, for fear of things like genetic experiments. Instead, Muriel suggested that the brothers do a few experiments of their own. They found out that Alisson's powers could also attract all butterflies within a twenty-feet radius. As for his wings, they could be deliberately summoned but they were subconsciously triggered whenever he was upset, defensive or anxious. It didn't help that Alisson was sensitive by personality and easily got triggered, so he often followed Muriel, who acted as a calming figure.
But when he moved to Italy and Muriel stayed behind in Brazil, Alisson no longer had anybody to cling onto. He mastered the art of emotional suppression, swallowing the negativity and fears like the bitterest bile. It stung him like an army of hornets. For the first time, the sparkling magic feeling he'd known for a few years now threatened to go out of control.
Sometimes he just had to let the butterfly wings go loose, and so the broom closets of any stadium became his best friends. No matter how many people he met, he couldn't find one that he could trust like he trusted Muriel. Not his teammates, not friends of his teammates, not his neighbors. Nobody found his secret.
In the summer of 2018, Alisson moved to Liverpool, uprooting him from one country to another. He'd recognized Firmino and Fabinho from the World Cup, and stuck to them like glue. The two didn't mind at all--partially because Firmino had been the sole Brazilian at the club for nearly a year and Fabinho was new as well. Things had been going well until Alisson made a huge mistake, allowing their opponent to equalize.
He'd suffered a panic attack in the closet, and Van Dijk, who'd stayed pretty distant from him, had come to console him. Klopp, his new coach, had found him as well, and that's when Alisson had realized something important.
This team wasn't out to get him or ship him to some international genetic testing lab. This team was here for him. He could trust them.
So Alisson did trust them. He'd grown so close to Firmino and Fabinho that they were more like brothers than friends. Mo Salah had been in Roma with him, and while Van Dijk didn't hang with him much, Alisson couldn't help but realize how furious Van Dijk would get when members of the opposition team would try and tackle him.
What about Klopp?
Well, the German had been only the second person Alisson revealed his powers to.
It was completely accidental, the wings revealing themselves in the middle of a meeting between the two. Alisson's father had just drowned and they had been discussing compassionate leave, when Klopp had mentioned that because of Covid policies, Alisson wouldn't be able to attend the funeral. Alisson had broken down completely, leaving Klopp to watch his goalkeeper grow a pair of lilac butterfly wings while surrounded by a faint aura.
Klopp, after hearing the story, had agreed to keep Alisson's secret for as long as necessary. After all, he'd told Alisson with a wink, there wasn't just one of his type.
Alisson, brokenhearted as he was, had been curious to know more. And that was when he realized he really wasn't alone.
He was a Supernatural. A powerful goddess figure, Astra, had granted him magical powers for the rest of his life. And there were more Supernaturals out there, hiding from the world for fear of being discovered.
He also learned the rules. Supernatural powers could not be used for unfair advantage while playing matches, or during any other activities broadcast by the press. But they were perfectly fine to use around your team, or in day-to-day activities.
The best thing was that Klopp understood. He didn't try to stop Alisson from fleeing towards the broom closet to calm down, unlike his boss at Roma. He'd let Alisson express himself for as long as was healthy, and one day he'd even gifted Alisson a restriction bracelet. It would prevent his powers from appearing in public, just in case. Alisson wore it under his gloves for every game. He'd remove it at halftime or when the matches were finished, though. There was no need to hide his powers from his team anymore. His teammates were his brothers.
And Klopp was a second father.

Can you elaborate on the Daniel Maldini thing please 🥺
Hi! I’m sorry this took so long to answer I am incredibly sick and I’ve been rotting again lol
So some context needed for this - in the main omegaverse universe, Daniel Maldini is the son of Paolo Maldini (alpha) and Andriy Shevchenko (omega). Daniel was born in 2001, two years after Shevie signed for Milan, which made him the first player in a top five league to have a baby during his career. His contract at Milan was almost terminated but it just managed to hang on by a thread, which lead Shevie to having the magic career that we know him to have had.
So skip forward a few years. Daniel is also an omega, but still has the footballing passion that his father and grandfather had, and he’s determined to carry on the Maldini legacy, only doing so whilst taking after his mother and playing an attacking role. However, most of his Milan career is spent on the bench or in the youth teams, but when he hits 19, he’s finally allowed to train with the first team - which is where he meets Theo.
Him and Theo don’t hit it off right away, but as Paolo starts to get more involved in his advisor role at Milan, they seem to just naturally find themselves in similar situations, and they do eventually fall for each other.
Daniel is shipped off to Liguria on loan to Spezia. The night they officially get relegated from the Serie A is the same night that Daniel finds out he’s pregnant.
Paolo forces Milan to do an emergency withdrawal of his son when he finds out - Milan have one of the oldest and most watertight pregnancy clauses in football because of what happened when Shevchenko was pregnant with Daniel, and Paolo needs to know that his son is going to be under the care of at least semi-experienced people.
So here Daniel is. 21, pregnant, a career seemingly in flames. He’s frankly just grateful that Theo is sticking by his side through it all.
Andrey is also a huge rock for Daniel during all of this. Of course he is, because ultimately that’s still his baby boy and his job as a mother to make sure his kid is safe and okay and supported. But even beyond that, Shevie has knowledge that others don’t when it comes to this. There’s not actually been that many top omega players to get pregnant during their playing careers. So Daniel gets lucky that his mom knows everything a person in his position would need to know. Shevie can and will bleed every FIFA protection dry for his son and his unborn grandchild.
Around September 2023, just before Daniel turns 22, little Theo Jr is born. He’s a completely healthy beta boy who has to be born via emergency c-section because he weighs 10 pounds (4.5kg) at birth. He’s got Theo’s entire face and absolutely steals Daniel’s heart from the first second.
But now Daniel is caught in a limbo. Milan cover his specialised pregnancy training and his post-birth recovery training but they’re hesitant to actually let him out onto the San Siro pitch again. It’s so bad at one point in late December that Daniel considers if maybe football is even the right choice for him anymore.
And then Monza hands him a lifeline.
They’re only a mid-table club and it’s only a half season loan, but it’s better than nothing. Plus, Lombardy and Milan are close enough together that Daniel doesn’t have to worry about leaving Theo and Junior. It might only be a fleeting fantasy, but it’s a perfect one, and Daniel has no choice but to sink his teeth into it.
And as much as it pains Daniel to say goodbye to his beloved Milan, signing the papers to become a permanent Monza player the following July easily proves to be the best decision he’s ever made. He’s proud of himself knowing that he stuck it out through the darkness and the bad days, and now he gets the wear the Italian jersey like his dad and his dad before him, and he’ll get to do it with his baby son in the crowd cheering him on 🥹

henry “hank” hastings, forty three, commanding officer for the 100th
hank is born in the winter at the turn of a new century. he's a welcome addition, the only addition, to the lives of catherine and howard hastings. attempts to bring other children into the picture fail time and again and they concede that god only intended for them to have one child and one child was what they were going to be happy with.
to say that hank hastings was destined to be in the military is…honestly a bit of an understatement. as far back along the family tree as one could get, every hastings male in the family had been part of various versions of the us army. by the time hank came along, his father and grandfather were west point graduates with the knowledge that, at eighteen, hank would also embark on studies at west point and start a storied career in the us army upon completion.
even so, it's not as if his entire childhood revolves around this one, seemingly set in stone, fact. catherine hastings had put much of her own ambitions aside in support of howard’s and had conceded that her only son would, likely happily to a degree, follow in the footsteps of his father but up until the day he left, she was going to insist on as normal a childhood as possible for him.
by the time hank is two, howard retires from the us army and the family takes up residence in chapel hill, north carolina. by all accounts, it's the achingly normal childhood that catherine wanted for her son complete with a foray into high school football and a steady girlfriend that the family adored. an ideal situation, really.
and then hank gets nora pregnant and…suddenly things get less ideal real quick. knowing it would never be kept a secret for long, both sets of parents are told. though he's only seventeen, howard and catherine insist that hank marry nora before she starts showing lest it be considered unsightly and he loves nora enough, had already thought about marrying her once they'd graduated, that he's not turned off by the idea so they get married in a church in the spring of 1918 with parental consent and nobody wise to the reality of the situation. to anyone looking in, hank and nora were simply too impatient to wait to get married.
in short order, their son, john, is born, they graduate high school and hank is being shipped off to west point after he turns eighteen in december of that year. hank begs his parents to let nora and john stay with them while he is away, at least for the first year, fully believing himself incapable of balancing the expectations of the academy in tandem with the expectations of being a father and a husband–in hindsight, maybe this is an omen for the future that hank just didn't want to acknowledge at the time. he visits when he can, writes or calls when he can’t but gets consumed with life at west point. he joins their football team and basically morphs into the kind of person the rest of the hastings men are–career military.
after the first year, nora and john move with hank to new york and the next three years pass by relatively normally–hank and nora get to be a married couple, watch their son grow up and hank eventually graduates from west point around the time they find out that they’re expecting their second child. in a stroke of incredibly terrible timing, hank is sent to kelly field in texas for advanced flying school where he graduates a year later, their daughter, violet, having been born a few months prior.
he gets more permanently stationed after being assigned to the 16th observation squadron at langley field in virginia. for a while, things are good, or so hank thinks. they’d had a relatively rocky start to their marriage but he and nora were humming along like a well oiled machine.
and then nora’s grandmother passes.
and then hank gets reassigned to borinquen field in puerto rico to train b-17 pilots.
and everything falls apart. nora isn’t shuttling two children from one country to the next at whatever whim the military decides after doing much of the same in the united states, certainly not in the aftermath of her grandmother passing. it is, quite possibly, the biggest argument they have–hank can’t ask them to reassign him somewhere closer but he also can’t force her to do anything she doesn’t want to do.
they separate, then, in the months leading up to hank’s departure for borinquen field. they choose not to divorce, hank wants to financially support nora, john and violet even and divorcing was not going to let that happen so, legally, they remain married but in every other way, they aren’t together anymore. hank leaves for puerto rico, trains pilots and gets reassigned to check supply lines in africa after the attack at pearl harbour on december 7th, 1941.
by 1942, he’s given the (temporary) rank of colonel and by april of 1943, he’s reassigned to thorpe abbotts air force base in east anglia, designated commanding officer of the 100th bomb group where he’s been ever since.
as an officer of the united states army air force in a professional capacity, he’s an immaculate professional. details need to be correct and plans and missions need to go off without a hitch. he really doesn’t have time for your bullshit, your nonsense, whatever you want to call it–he’s trying to herd cats so get it together.
outside of that, when he’s not being called upon. he’s a little more relaxed–he’ll have a drink at the club, smoke a few cigars and indulge in the nonsense of his crews, if only for a little while. he’s very father figure esque in a lot of ways but also patently aware that he is nowhere near the model for balancing family or a life away from the career military thing.
and, of course, there are The Horrors, like his kid enlisting and joining the 101st airborne.
so, you know.
fun.

i worked at Walmart stocking shelves starting in 2020 as an 18 y/o and am about to quit as a 22 y/o, as soon as i have another job lined up.
i have endured endless bullshit and… interesting situations from customers and employees/management across the 4 stores i’ve worked at, and i want to catalogue as much as possible to emphasize how working retail (at least Walmart) is NOT WORTH IT.
(worth mentioning that as much as i’ve had bad experiences i’ve also met a lot of nice people and don’t hold anything against them or their reasons for continuing to work at Walmart.)
this is not going to be chronological, since i’m just jotting down these examples as they come to me, but i’m gonna specify which location i’m talking about with Store 1, 2, 3, and 4. also way too many to write at once so i’ll add as i have time/energy to.
let’s jump in!
1. Store 1– i applied and started my job in January 2020 less than a week before the infamous Toilet Paper Rush from Covid. people were so desperate we stopped stocking it on the shelves for a while and just left the pallets they shipped on out on the floor for people to take, and they’d be cleared within an hour or two.
2. Store 1– fuckin 5’3” ginger guy with tons of freckles and glasses came into work several times with a Sons of the Confederacy shirt, and a couple weeks later during a team meeting where we were asked to raise our hands if XYZ he full on did a nazi salute, then smiled and looked around to see if anyone noticed (i was the only one who noticed but managed to pretend i didn’t).
3. Store 1– this was before i was out as bisexual and well before i figured out i was trans. a coworker two years younger than me came up to me, kinda pointed at me, and randomly said “f*ggot?” and i couldn’t tell if i misheard him so i kinda awkwardly laughed and said “what?” and he said it again and i had absolutely no idea what to say, and he said “see, i knew it! i knew you liked men!” and walked away. never reported it cuz i was a dumb kid who was more just scared that someone possibly knew despite me being closeted. turns out! he didn’t know, he was just beefing with my brother on the high school football team and randomly decided to bring me into it.
4. Store 1– same kid as #3 hated doing his job and would often leave the aisle he’s stocking to wander to different aisles to chat with people, somehow never being disciplined for it despite everyone knowing. he even would walk and chat with the guy from our Subway as he took the Subway trash all the way to the trash compactor at the back of the store and back. Dude only got fired after he was adamant that Walmart was giving employees free Kleenex for Covid and walked out with a 4-pack after his shift without paying. dumb bitch.
5. Store 1– one coworker i thought was cool was in his late 20s and, despite very bad anger management issues, was very openly pro-LGBTQ+ and pro-worker’s-rights and would chat about it a lot. then one day we were both monitoring the front entrance to sanitize carts and count people going in/out (Covid protocols), and he told a story about his grandfather being robbed and him shooting the robber as they fled, and at the very end very casually dropped the n-word while laughing, then said “i’m sorry, but if you’re gonna do that shit, you deserve to be called it.” in retrospect i wish i said something to him or management but i didn’t want to risk being the target of his anger problems so i kinda just stopped talking to him.
6. Store 1– during one surge the people monitoring the front entrances had to tell people coming in that our town was a high-risk/concentration Covid area and tell people that we don’t mandate masks but still suggest them (even had some free paper ones up front for those who wanted them). i tried to be as polite and non-confrontational as possible when explaining each time but one bigger guy walking in genuinely just went “you wanna know what i think? FUCK YOU.” and laughed as he walked past me. made me feel shit for the rest of the day.
7. Store 1– this is a recurring theme at Walmart but certain employees love slacking off and don’t really get reprimanded for it as long as the jobs get finished by other people. still remember when we had a rough truck unload and i looked over as we were about to finish and saw two of the guys supposed to be helping (people who are PAID the same amount as ME who was BUSTING MY ASS) just sitting down for 5 minutes, with a look on their faces like “why aren’t you all done with this dumb bullshit yet?” one of those guys was also in my computer science class and was openly passive-aggressively homophobic there, so add that to the tally i guess.

Mohamed Al Fayed: Former Harrods owner dies at 94

Mohamed Al Fayed, the former Harrods boss whose son Dodi was killed in a car crash alongside Diana, Princess of Wales, has died aged 94.
Born in Egypt, he built a business empire in the Middle East before moving to the UK in the 1970s.
However, he never realised his ambition to gain a passport for his adopted country.
He spent his later years questioning the circumstances surrounding the deaths of Dodi and Diana.
Mr Al Fayed had remained largely out of the public limelight in the past decade, living in his Surrey mansion with his wife Heini.
In a statement released on Friday, his family said: “Mrs Mohamed Al Fayed, her children and grandchildren wish to confirm that her beloved husband, their father and their grandfather, Mohamed, has passed away peacefully of old age on Wednesday August 30, 2023.
“He enjoyed a long and fulfilled retirement surrounded by his loved ones.”

Michael Cole, a former BBC Royal correspondent who later worked for Mr Al Fayed as director for public affairs at Harrods, described him as “an extraordinary character”.
He told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme Mr Al Fayed was a “fascinating and a larger than life” character and someone who was “full of humanity”.
Fulham Football Club, which Mr Al Fayed owned for many years, said that it was “incredibly saddened to learn” of his death.
“We owe Mohamed a debt of gratitude for what he did for our club, and our thoughts now are with his family and friends at this sombre time,” it said in a statement.
His successor at the club, Shahid Khan, expressed his condolences in a tribute on the club’s website.
“The story of Fulham cannot be told without a chapter on the positive impact of Mr Al Fayed as chairman,” he said.
“His legacy will be remembered for our promotion to the Premier League, a Europa League Final, and moments of magic by players and teams alike.”
Journalist Piers Morgan described Al Fayed as an “extraordinary tour de force of a man who never got over the death of his beloved son Dodi in the crash that also killed Diana”, adding that he was a “flawed, complex character” but that he liked him.
Mr Al Fayed rose from selling fizzy drinks on the streets of his native Alexandria in Egypt to become a big name in business with all the right contacts.
His break came after he met his first wife, Samira Khashoggi, the sister of Saudi millionaire arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi – who employed him in his Saudi Arabian import business.
The role helped him forge new connections in Egypt, and although the marriage lasted little more than two years, Mr Al Fayed went on to launch his own shipping business.
In 1966, he became an adviser to one of the world’s richest men, the Sultan of Brunei.
He moved to Britain in 1974 and five years later bought the Ritz hotel in Paris with his brother Ali for £20m.
They went on to take over Harrods in 1985 for £615m, following a vicious bidding war with mining conglomerate the Lonrho group.
Under his ownership, Fulham FC rose from the third tier to the Premier League.
He gave generously to charities including Great Ormond Street Hospital and, as a father of five, showed a particular interest in helping underprivileged or unwell children.
He set up the Al Fayed Charitable Foundation in 1987 to better the lives of impoverished, traumatised and very sick youngsters.
It was from his Ritz hotel in Paris that his son Dodi, a film producer, and his then-partner Diana, Princess of Wales, departed, before the car crash which killed them both in 1997.
Mr Al Fayed never recovered from the shock of the crash, becoming obsessed with the speculation surrounding the deaths.
His evidence at the inquest in February 2008 included claims that the deaths were on the orders of Prince Philip and with the connivance of MI6.
They were deemed a “conspiracy theory” by the coroner and rejected by the jury.
Mr Al Fayed twice failed in his attempt to secure British citizenship.
On the second occasion in 1995, angered by the rejection, he told the press that he had paid two Conservative ministers, Neil Hamilton and Tim Smith, to ask questions in the House of Commons about his interests.
They both left the government, and Mr Hamilton, who denied the allegation, also lost a libel case against Mr Al Fayed.
A third politician, Jonathan Aitken, who was then a cabinet minister, also resigned after Mr Al Fayed revealed that he stayed for free at the Ritz in Paris at the same time as a group of Saudi arms dealers.
In 2010, Mr Al Fayed sold Harrods to the sovereign wealth fund of Qatar. Nearly half of the purchase price was used to clear the company’s debts.
Royal historian Prof Kate Williams said Mr Al Fayed was a man on a mission after his son’s death, but said he would also be remembered as a man who reshaped the iconic Harrods department store.
“It was his dream and his baby,” she said.
She added that Mr Al Fayed was a great benefactor for charities and hospitals – which is how he met Princess Diana.
“He was a very significant force in British life,” Prof Williams told BBC Breakfast, adding that he was a figure who would not be forgotten.

From an island population of 6 to the 7,000 of Lerwick
Wednesday 5th July
The morning ferry arrived on time at 9:45 and stimulated the only human movement I had detected since it left on Monday afternoon. On board was one vehicle and twelve hikers from Fife. The vehicle and its driver had come to pick up his young daughters, who had been staying with their grandparents on the island since the break up of school last Friday. I had seen the girls a couple of times as they assisted their grandfather with jobs around the croft. They stopped for a quick chat as I walked past their property, and were the only interaction I had between ferries.
This morning I took on the remainder of the perimeter track, the south section, with a more gentle sea, though similarly striking cliffs and geos.
I was the only vehicle on the return ferry at 3.45 in the afternoon, with the Fife hikers and the same ferry crew I crossed with. The ocean was very calm, as opposed to Monday, and the cruise along the coast was a fine way to spend 40 minutes.
It had been 9 days since my last supermarket stock-up and I needed to face reality, and travel the half hour to Lerwick to get stocked up. I decided to stay overnight there, and started off by using the showers in the Leisure Centre. I can manage with the occasional dip in the sea, and my outdoor shower, but the odd indoor shower is appreciated. The leisure centre is part of a new complex which includes the High School, and competition standard athletics track, football and rugby pitches. It is also a perfect overnight stopover for a campervan, though no one else was there. They all seem to go to the two places listed on Park4Night.
It was a 30 minute walk into the town where I ordered from the Nepalese restaurant before wandering a bit further in, to the Douglas Arms. Though the clientele were incredibly friendly, the place seems like it hasn’t changed since the 1970s, and that goes for the beer selection as well. It was one of those places were your feet stick to the carpet, and it only takes the smallest of imaginations to picture the huge sessions that frequently took place here.
There were quite a few tourists around, most from a cruise ship that was in dock. When such a ship is in the population is boosted by at least 10%.
Roja was particularly impressed by the Leisure Centre stopover, as we were adjacent to the walking track around Clickminn Loch, very popular with dog walkers, so many potential new friends for him to exchange a sniff with.

Impractical Jokers Caricature shirt
My grandfather was fond of Impractical Jokers Caricature shirt. When diabetes affected his legs and made him immobile, he continued to whistle. When glaucoma affected his eyes and he lost his eyesight, he continued to whistle. As someone in her early 20s, I found my granddad’s immense pleasure from life overwhelming and infectious. Here was a person who was losing all his senses, yet was gracious enough to utilize and maximize his happiness from the senses he still retained. Try whistling. It improves your lung capacity and will send more oxygen into your bloodstream, making you feel better instantly.Try cooking. I hear it is quite therapeutic when used to counter depression. Try duck meat (if you eat non-veg). If you have trouble sleeping, I read that tryptophan (an amino acid in duck meat) puts you to sleep instantly. Alternatives: try honey with milk before sleeping.

so. one pair of my grandparents were both history buffs, so they did a vacation tour of civil war battlefields. as one does when you are a history buff and also a weird artist. they literally found someone with this thing on their porch and asked “how much for the cannon?” and apparently the answer was reasonable because the guy actually sold them a civil war union naval salute cannon. which they got shipped from the east coast all the way back to California somehow. it’s one of the things I inherited and I cherish it greatly, even if moving with it is an absolute bitch and a half because 1) it is a cannon and therefore weighs a fuckton and 2) it is a cannon and therefore a weird shape AND IT PIVOTS. also it took a hell of a lot of legal research when I had to bring it across state lines as to whether or not I can like, actually have it legally let alone cross multiple state borders (the answer to both is yes cause it’s super old).
as far as I know it’s still capable of being fired, although it hasn’t been used since the 1960s when my grandfather somehow bribed the campus or something to let him fire cannon blanks on the UC Berkeley football field
so yeah you just need some WEIRD grandparents in the 1950s who tour battlefields and buy civil war cannons and then leave you their prized cannon because they know you love the thing
did I retweet that last post just so I could leave some cryptic tags about owning a cannon in the tags for other people who look through tags to be puzzled by?
yes I did. and yes I really DO own a cannon. it is 100% legal to own an 1800s salute cannon and have it in your living room as a fun decoration. and since I really do in fact own a cannon that’s exactly what I did with mine.
#the more you know about my family the more you understand that I’m actually one of the more normal ones#this should in fact worry you#I’m what happens when you let seven generations of eccentric artists have kids with each other

Platonic yandere teachers, but with 2p Axis please. By the way, Thanks for answering my asks 💜.
Thanks for waiting, even when I answered them out of order. I hope it was worth the wait.
Other Version: Allies, Nordics
Italy: Luciano always thought of the gentler students as weak. They were easy to use and to abuse. For that reason, it wasn’t uncommon for Luciano to ignore their cries echoing in the halls. After all, if he could endure something similar from his grandfather, then they could endure it from a stranger.
It wasn’t until an incident became bloody, and that Luciano had no choice but to intervene. It was a shock when he realized that the vicious student was his most eager. The rabid snarl on their lips, and bleeding cuts on their face reminded of himself, and how the gentle kittens can become mighty lions.
Instead of dragging the student off to the office, Luciano sent the bully to the nurse and pulled them into his classroom.
That was the day his paternal relationship with them began.
It would start out professional enough with private lessons. Their topics ranged from his Calculus lessons to ways to manipulate and destroy their enemies. Each lesson introduces a new side to his student and increases his sense of parental pride in them.
Throughout it all, Luciano would sense something is off. Mysterious bruises, constant exhaustion, and oddly placed cuts all pointed to signs of abuse. He wouldn’t wait for the picture to start his intervention. It would have started with simple reconnaissance and plotting. Piles of papers would be found throughout his home office, each sheet containing additional information and torturous details for the abusers’ punishment.
After receiving their inky cry for help, Luciano wastes no time. He has his men come in and kidnap their whole family. The abusers are tortured and killed, while Luciano gets to play hero and save his student from their hell.
In the end, Luciano gets custody with the aid of lawyers and the parents are sleeping with the fish.
Romano: As a drama teacher, Fabrizio puts a lot of pressure on his students. After all, any that takes his class know to either ship up or ship out. Though, our shy student didn’t originally want to take his class. Instead, Fabrizio discovered them reciting lines from an Italian opera behind the football bleachers.
Their shy nature was enduring to Fabrizio. It was like watching a toddler take their first steps when they first performed in class. As they gained confidence, Fabrizio’s love for the student grew. His proudest moment was when his ‘child’ went on to help the untalented. It was sweet to think they could help what couldn’t be fixed.
When Fabrizio first received the picture, he was excited. He thought it was a gift of appreciation. The dark, wet, inky patches of a crying child and an angry parent told a different story. The more details that Fabrizio took in, the more guilty he felt.
Fabrizio’s guilt comes from the fact he ignored the signs. Random bruises, stutters, flinches, and all the other small details. He should have realized it. They could have been saved long ago from their personal hell. He had failed as a father.
Now was the time to make amends and save his child. Fabrizio would firstly ensure that his student would have everything they needed in their new home. Their future room would be left as a blank slate for them to design.
Once satisfied with the environment they will come into, Fabrizio would start gathering information. Using his personal and professional connection to gather an incriminating and horrifying folder of photos and testimonials.
His investigation wouldn’t have to last longer than a week before enough is gathered. From that point, Fabrizio decides to leave the folder at the police station. A tip that stirs the police like an angry beehive. While the pace and question what their order of operation should be, Fabrizio would have begun the final stages.
The third act of the show would start with a rehearsal. Guaranteeing that his child was out of the home. Away from the coming bloodbath.
His entry into the home would appear as a concerned teacher. It would take some sweet-talking, but he eventually would be let into the home. From there, Fabrizio would talk with the parents, while not touching anything. That way there is little DNA to incriminate him.
When the parents try to get Fabrizio to leave, the hostility starts. Firstly, the accusations and the brandishing of his poisoned knife. Slow circling as the parents attempt to scare Fabrizio off. It doesn’t work, instead, Fabrizio gets more hostile. Eventually cutting into the parents.
The poison prevents the parents from running too far. They are stuck near their front door, phones in hand. While Fabrizio slowly walks past them. Allowing his poison to do its job.
Once they have left this world. Fabrizio uses the same connections to gain custody. His use of theatrics keeps away suspicion.
Germany: Like a true automotive teacher, Luther was laid back. A lecture, twice a week, and then the rest of the time students were expected to do their projects. Hopefully allowing Luther to nap while they did so.
His favorite student would show a natural talent for mechanic work. Often finishing long before the other students. Thus, leaving them time to talk with the tired Luther.
Their discussions would be what starts the platonic relationship. It would start with talking about cars, school, and projects. As it becomes more personal, Luther’s view of his student starts to change. He starts to take fatherly care in their health and interest. Often subtly hinting about eating habits, odd injuries, and grades.
When Luther got the dark drawing, he was confused. Wondering why it was given to him and what the meaning was. Luther would spend most of the day obsessed over the drawing. Looking online and in books to find answers. Some hints would be given, but not enough for Luther to fully understand. It wasn’t until he talked to Kurai and Luciano that the pieces finally clicked into place.
He almost tore the picture at the news of his student suffering. Luther wanted nothing more than to storm the house and kidnap his kid. So that’s what he did under the cover of darkness. The kid would scream, waking his parents while Luther was in the process of knocking him out. As soon as one parent walks in, under the assumption that nothing was wrong, Luther acts. His precious handgun making quick work of them. This is repeated with all other threats.
Luther drives the k.o. student to his home, but leaves them outside. This way, his student thinks their kidnapper ditched them. In their panic, they would knock on Luther’s home. Luther would answer and herd them inside, all while the news would be left running.
An urgent report would flash on the screen while the student was explaining their story. Luther would hide a chuckle as they watched horrified at the news of the death of their parents and the warrant for their arrest.
Luther would soothe his student. Repeatedly saying that he believed them. They would just have to stay with Luther.
After all, it was him or jail.
Japan: Kurai was one of the most hated teachers in the school. His reputation was built on the frustration tears and horrible grades of students. Many students cowered in fear when they saw him walk the halls. All except for one. This exceptional student had not only managed to keep up with Kurai’s impossible workload, but their questions kept Kurai on his toes.
Their relationship would start at the beginning of the semester. The student asked for clarification on a homework assignment. Kurai’s expectations wouldn’t be high when he explains it. Expecting them to fail just like all the others. Imagine his wide-eyes when they bring in the completed assignment.
After that point, Kurai’s going to watch them. At first to look for cheating, but when there is no evidence. Kurai starts to wonder why and how they can do it. That discovery was long study sessions, determination, and love for robotics. Kurai relates and it starts to shift the relationship from professional to familial.
Kurai’s familial view causes him to push his student harder. He wants his child to not only do their best but be the best. So, he is going to convince the student to take on tutors and join clubs. All to give them the best shot of going far in life.
This deepens their relationship enough for his student to give him the picture. It sends a clear message to Kurai that his student had been dishonored. That disrespect will not be allowed to continue.
With the knowledge of his student’s schedules and gleaning the schedule of the rest of their original family, Kurai plans an honorable death for them. One worthy enough to make up for the abuse done to his child. Seppuku.
Kurai would have it all set up in the home. Ready and waiting for the trash to return. Once inside, Kurai makes it clear. Sign over the student to him and do Seppuku. If they refuse, Kurai will make it much more painful and forge everything. If they go along with it, then it is much simpler for everyone.
After the deed is done, Kurai cleans up and heads to the nearest social worker. After everything is finalized, retrieves his child. They will be in for a rough day, but Kurai will help them through it.
Prussia: A World Religion teacher does their best to show their students the beauty of all religions. Wilhelm was no different. He would lead detailed lectures on what different groups believed. Answer questions about the lifestyles they lead. Through it all, Wilhelm would even be patient with the Karens that would say he was forcing their child into other faiths.
His most brilliant student dove deeper into the class material than any other. They would bring up little-known facts. Ask if they would cover older and lesser-known religions. It made Wilhelm’s heart warm. Eventually, Wilhelm would make this student his class assistant. To do this they would have the option to spend their lunch period with him and work on paperwork.
His brilliant student jumped on the opportunity. Their lunch hour would feel more like 30 mins of fatherly bonding rather than work.
It was wonderful for both, but the happy times can never last. As student-teacher conferences were approaching, Wilhelm’s students wanted to give their teacher a gift. At first glance, it looked like printer paper with a dark blob on it. When Wilhelm looked closer, to his horror, he realized the blob was a picture was his student being cut with giant scissors by two people.
Wilhelm tried to get the answer from his student about who these people were. The only reply he got was, “You’ll meet them soon.”
His student was correct because he recognized the scissor wielders during the conference. Their parents were very close to their caricatures. It was almost laughable how what should have been an exaggeration, wasn’t.
The conference went well. Wilhelm was his usually stoic self, keeping his sentences short as the parents verbally ripped apart his favorite student. Underneath, Wilhelm’s anger was being held back by mere threads.
After the meetings, Wilhelm would call in a favor from François. Asked the Frenchman to gather evidence on the parents and any nearby relatives. All the while he goes about isolating his student from everyone else, including their family.
Once François gives Wilhelm the evidence, it is turned into the cops. The evidence is detailed enough that the cops secure a warrant quickly. The arrests were catastrophic for the whole town, as the student’s entire family, including extended, were brought to the country jail.
As the courts proceeded, Wilhelm would have temporary custody of his child. It made sense; he was the only one the student trusted. After the verdict is reached, that temporary title becomes permanent.
Spain: Armando may not be the most hated teacher, but everyone would agree he was one of the cruelest. The first weeks of class involved students tilling the land with medieval tools. Their tests were difficult involving plant identification, growth techniques, application, and so on.
There was one student that was doing well. They often came to Armando after the school day, asking to help tend to the plants. Even going as far as to offer to help care for the class mascot, Idiota. It was odd to Armando. No other student had done this, all his past students scattered like roaches when the bell rang.
The change led to Armando being suspicious at first. Deeming the student as one looking for test answers rather than genuine. This strange student, though one of his best, would have to prove themselves. Each challenge would focus on integrity and attitude. Each one would be closely monitored by Armando.
Each passed test would stump Armando. His stumped state would lead to thinking and then talking with his student. The response surprised Armando. His student wanted nothing more than to help him. They admitted to watching Armando tend to the fields by himself. They just wanted to help.
No one had done that for him. Everyone always took. Yet this child, looked at Armando like he was their overworked father. No pity, just concern for his health. As much as Armando didn’t want to admit it, his heart felt a little lighter.
As late summer officially became fall, and the lectures became more frequent. This meant that instead of tending to the crops, Armando would give private tutoring and advice to his student. Throughout it, all Armando would seem aloof, but in reality, he would be following his fatherly instincts.
Armando would be in the process of questioning some of their strange quirks when the dreaded picture would be given to him. The image was of the child crying over a destroyed white rose with dark ravens nearby. Something about this sent shivers down Armando’s spine.
There would be no aloofness when Armando questioned his child. Cornering and using his fatherly position to gain answers. The horrors that followed boiled his blood.
Now knowing the details, Armando would question his student further. Asking them if they yearn for a home that promises no pain. If they want a guarantee that their parents would never find them again. More questions come and each confirmation adds another nail to the parents’ coffin.
Armando would take his child home. Telling them that they would remain at the small farm for a few days. Emphasizing the importance of staying inside and away from the windows.
Once words get back to the parents that their child is missing, they will demand money from the school and Armando as compensation. As he was the last one to see his student and the school held responsibility. The parents’ screeches would be tuned out, while Armando thinks how he can lure them away from the growing public eye.
His plan was perfect. Armando pulled the parents aside and talked about a shack in the woods. One where his child had occasionally run to. The agreement was that no one would go to the location, but Armando and the parents. They agreed, happy to get their scapegoat back.
The lie was revealed once at the dilapidated shack. Armando pulled out his blood ax while smirking. The ensuing panic sent both parents running and Armando enjoyed each second of the hunt. By the end, they were left as fertilizer for the forest.
Armando and his child would enjoy planning next year’s crops. The child never knew what Armando did to nurture them.

Memories from the past (Caius Volturi)
Word count: Trigger warning: mention of depression
Okaay, so I have decided to try and make one poly story. It seems they are quite popular and since my bisexual ass loves blondes, I figured I will ship our main character with Caius and Athenodora. Also I haven’t seen this ship just yet and I want to explore it hehe. Also, I got the idea from the facebook post below, so thanks for that person for giving me an idea! Hope you guys enjoy it!
Word count: 1083 Trigger warning: mention of depression, suicide
Here lies Isabella Marie Swan September 13th 1987 – September 16th 2027 "Death lies on her like an untimely frost Upon the sweetest flower of all the field." (Romeo and Juliet, Act IV, Scene V, Line 33)
I stood as I looked at the gravestone. My mother’s gravestone. I knew what I was supposed to feel. I had to feel grief, I had to mourn. Yet I didn’t. I was relieved, happy. She was finally free, she could finally rest. “Are you ready to go, kiddo?” my grandfather asked, his voice still shaking with pain. I nodded my head, finally removing my stare from the gravestone and towards the brown orbs that belonged to my grandfather. The brown was surrounded by red as his eyes were puffy from crying. “Yes, let’s go. Shall we go to the diner?” I asked, hoping some food would lift our spirits. Grandpa simply nodded his head as he wrapped his arm around my shoulders, pulling me close to his side. His hand was wrinkled yet laid firmly on them, almost afraid I would vanish as well.
“You know you aren’t allowed to drink, Xandria.” Grandpa said as I took a sip of my white wine. I chuckled. “I turn 21 next month gramps. Besides, I am allowed to drink in Scotland” I said as I took another sip. Grandpa rolled his eyes. “Yet you are in the United states right now. But I guess I can let this one drink slide for today.” He said as he took a sip of his beer. His hair was almost completely white, with some gray streaks woven through it. His face had been wrinkled and a kind yet stern look resided on it. And finally, a moustache in the same colour as his hair accompanied his features. I chuckled sadly at his remark. “Thank you, grandpa. And thank you for letting me stay here.” I said as I played around with my glass. “Anytime panda.” He said, using the nickname he gave me when I was a little chub. Grandma had once dressed me up in a complete panda jumpsuit as a toddler (yes, including with a hat that had little ears on it) and since then the nickname had stuck. The memory of it made me smile as I still had the little jumpsuit back at home.
Grandpa drove us back to his house, the ride back to it was quiet, as had our time at the diner has been. Neither of us felt like talking, not knowing what to discuss without returning to the topic that was my mother. My now dead mother. Once inside I helped grandpa get comfortable on the couch with another beer in his hand watching the football match that evening, yet his eyes where hallow. He merely stared at the screen. I kissed his cheek and made my way upstairs, towards mum’s old room. I jumped on the bed, plunging my face in the pillow as the tears finally came. Truth be told, she never really was much of a mother to me, sure she tried to be there for me but she had a crippling depression that she never could break out from. I had never seen her smile, well truly smile for that. There were only ghosts of what might once had been a genuine smile around her lips, but it never reached her eyes. I sad up and sniffed as I wiped my eyes. I had to remember that she was in a beter place now, and that she was happy. I sighed as I got up to make my way towards the bathroom, only to trip over a loose floor board. I yelped softly as I caught myself on the door handle, my other hand smacking against the wall beside it hard. “Everything okay up there, Panda bear?” Grandpa yelled from downstairs. “Yeah I am fine gramps, just lost my balance. No worries!” I yelled back as I turned around and examined the loose floorboard, only to discover it had a hidden compartment underneath. I knelt down to examine the compartment closer and found a small box hidden in it. I gently grabbed it and sat down on the bed. The box itself was a velvet blue with a simple clasp to keep the lit closed. I flicked the claps and carefully raised the lit, only to find multiple photographs of my mother and a necklace with some sort of crest on it. The crest was made of a lion, with a hand above it and three clovers in a banner underneath the lion. It was beautiful. I felt the tears burning yet again as I grabbed the pictures and started to look through them. It was my mother in her senior year of High School. She had pictures with all of her friends, they were in the parking lot, in classes or they were hanging out. But the last picture intrigued me the most. It was my mother on her 18th birthday, and she was standing next to a boy who seemed to be her age, only there was something odd about him. My eyes traced over his pale white features: the hard square of his jaw, the softer curve of his full lips—twisted in a smile, the straight line of his nose, the top of his forehead—partially obscured by the tangle of rain-darkened bronze hair. He seemed almost unnatural. But the thing that shocked me the most was my mother’s smile. It was genuine. Real. It even reached her eyes. I close my eyes and try to control the tears that are threatening to fall once again. I imagined she might have smiled this way the moment before she jumped off that cliff. I imagine she might have thought about this man. Maybe he was once her true love, before she met my father. Maybe he passed away, and is that the reason why no longer could smile after both he and my father passed away. I could not imagine what it would be like to lose someone you love twice. Even if it might have been years apart. I finally opened my eyes and allowed for one last tear to slip away. I had to believe she was happy now. That she was with my father and her first love again. That she is smiling now like she did in the picture I was holding close to my chest. I just had to believe that.

i must know... what is it that you like so much about scotnor/norscot? what sort of dynamic do you envision them having? tell us things!!
Damn, thank you both for actually caring about this ship enough to send asks about it. Always happy to entice! Since there’s two asks, I’ve done two drawings and I have chosen to structure the post after (1) their dynamic and (2) their history. The history part is a bit of a read so I’ve put that under the [read more] under the illustrations, but I hope it at least is interesting!
Their Dynamic:
I see them as a good couple where they balance each other out quite nicely. Scotland is a bit hot-headed and brash, while Norway calm and rational. Still, I think they get off on teasing each other where you might actually think they are being mean to the other, but it’s all a joke. They have that mutual understanding between them, they get each other.
They would be the best of friends, but they wouldn’t advertise it? No one would even know they spend time together because they are both a bit removed from the rest of Europe, let alone that they are a couple. They wouldn’t openly advertise it either, just perhaps mentioning to Denmark, Sweden and England that they have plans together next week if they ask to hang out. Without no further explanation at all. And England might suspect something? But it is far from obvious.
In most of what I ship I like for the pair to be on equal standing, and I feel like this fit here. Scotland is probably more known internationally, but Norway has more influence. They can also both relate to being in a union and more or less ruled by another country.
They would go hiking together, and sometimes Norway would even be able to convince Scotland to come skiing with him (I think about half of Great Britain’s cross-country team are from Scotland and they all live and train in Norway). Both Scotland and Norway have some beautiful locations and in some places very similar nature even. They would also go drinking a lot – vodka, beer and whiskey – and hanging out in pubs together just chatting. Football is another passion they both share and the Norwegian Rosenborg has been in the group play of Europa League with the Scottish Celtic a few years now – even going scoring a goal against one of the other teams in the last match, hindering their victory, and allowing Celtic to advance. Needless to say, Glasgow was in an uproar after that and even sold mugs in their colours with the face of the Norwegian goal scorer.
In addition, I think both of them are very obsessed with folklore and mythology, and sharing an interest in the genre of crime, enjoying scary stuff. There might also be some relation between the Scottish Kelpies and the Norwegian Nøkken.
It is also funny how some Scottish words are so related to Norwegian due to the Norse Period (see the history bit), such as “bairn” in Scottish and “barn” in Norwegian, which means children.
I just think they’d make an awesome pair, just sharing many interests while still being quite different. They would feel very comfortable with each other and have a strong base of trust.
Their History:
Viking Period. Viking raids on coastal Scotland begins around 800 and continues up into the century, until at the end the activity transforms into settlement, then especially on the Northern Isles of Shetland and Orkney, as well as the Western Isles of the Hebrides. Most likely they blended with the locals and we can see an intermingling of style here. Still, there was most likely contact between the lands before that due to finds of combs made of reindeer antler in the area – and reindeers don’t exist in Scotland. In about 1015 Knut the Great of Denmark conquers most of England, and with him is Eirik Earl of Lade from Norway, a sort of mentor and powerful figure that supports the young king. As a reward he gets Northumbria, which borders to southern parts of Scotland. This is about the only period where there are no reports of wars between Northumbria and Scotland in this period. It is, however, the permanent settlements of Norsemen that lead up to the next period in Scottish history:
Norse Period. In this period, the islands I mentioned earlier is still claimed by Norway as most of the population on them are either under Norse rule or identify largely are Norsemen. This escalated to a conflict that saw the Battle of Largs in 1263, a battle which none of the involved parties won. The Western Isles had from 1100 been a part of the Norwegian realm, and since 1240, King Alexander II of Scotland had tried to buy it from Håkon Håkonsson, King of Norway, but was rejected every time. Eventually, feeling threatened Håkon gathered the largest fleet said ever to leave Norway and sailed to Scotland. After failed negotiations and some Norwegian raids a huge storm surprised the fleet and crashed some of the boats and washing them ashore where the crews were attacked by the Scottish forces, double the numbers. The storm hindered any tactical moves as the waves and wind made it impossible to control the ships, but eventually the Norsemen got back on some of the ships and after a long distance battle, which both sides pulled back from after a while. After retreating to Orkney, Håkon got ill and died and his successor Magnus Lagabøte made a treaty with Alexander III in 1260 to give up the claim on the Western Isles for a certain amount of money and the prospects of good trade with both Scotland and England. In 1281 Margaret, daughter of the Scottish king Alexander III, gets betrothed to Erik II of Norway as a way to finally put an end to the disputes between them for good. Unfortunately, she dies in the childbirth of her daughter Margaret Maid of Norway – who was actually on her way to become queen of Scotland when her grandfather died with no living male heirs, but she also died untimely only 7 years old after she became ill on the journey over the sea in 1290
After this unfortunately, it’s not long until Norway becomes a part of the Kalmar union as a result of the Black Death in 1348 and ends up under Danish rule for about 400 years, where the Danish king in 1468 gives away Orkney and Shetland as a pawn for the dowry of his daughter because he did not have the money to pay (this situation was never actually resolved and the isles still could be considered only a pawn).
The Norwegian Cruise. In 1886 a Scottish shipping company began with Norwegian cruises to look at the fjords along the coast of Norway, maybe one of the first ever planned cruises, which was so popular that they only increased the amount the following year. This continued until World War One began.
Second World War. During the Second World War Norway was occupied by Germany, and many of those who fled came to England and Britain (as was the case with most of Europe). On Shetland, however, there came to be a Norwegian base of operations where Norwegian sailors and volunteers would carry out missions across the North Sea to Norway. There they would smuggle in weapons and provisions and information to the resistance, as well as helping refugees to escape the country. This was of immense help to Norway during the war.
Thanks for reading!! This turned into a bit of an essay and I was more thourough at the beginning of this, but I hope you enjoyed it regardless!
