Back To Busan

The rest of the week had been normal. No weird interactions nor an airy stomach. I’ve learned to forget about a lot of my personal problems whenever I enter the HYBE building. Thankfully enough, I never saw Areum again aside from the photoshoot. It wasn’t like we had much time to think about anything else but our upcoming album anyway.

Our trip to Los Angeles for the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards had gone by without a hitch. We did hope to come back soon to perform our own song, though it was already such an honor to sing alongside Lil Nas X and other artists. We did a few more promotional activities in America and filmed most of our new album’s music videos before we went back to Seoul together to finish a few more things before we had a few days of rest in preparation for the release of our newest album ‘Map of the Soul: 7’ and our eventual return to America.

A few things have changed with scheduling. The break was 5 days long starting on Wednesday, February 12th. Though a few members had already started their break during the weekend as our schedules had started to clear off and our knotted muscles built up. During the break, all promotional content was already pre-recorded and filmed so we had nothing to worry about. Instead, we all focused on getting the most out of our break as we had a lot of promotional activities planned for our album. The last proper one that we predict to release as talk about our enlistments was becoming more frequent.

“When will you be back?” Hobi’s voice spoke as soon as I completely zipped up my backpack.

“I don’t know, maybe the 19th? The album isn’t getting released until the 21st so I might stay in Busan a little longer…

I can see a visible frown appear on Hoseok’s face as I had to lean back from the laughter erupting in my lungs.

“Oh come on! Did you really think I’d miss your birthday? We even have a flight on the 17th. There’s no way I want to travel separately.” I walked over to my hyung before hugging him. A few chuckles left his lips as he stood up from his bed.

“I’ll be back by the 16th. We’ll have plenty of time to celebrate your birthday.” I smiled at Hoseok as he smiled back at me.

“Hey, have a safe trip.” Hoseok wished me before I exited our shared room with my backpack hanging behind my back. I didn’t have to bring much considering my old room still had a fair amount of clothes that were intended to be used whenever I stayed in Busan.

“Thanks, enjoy your break too!” I greeted before the door closed behind me and I was greeted by the youngest of us sitting on the couch.

“Are you going already, hyung?” Jungkook asked, though his eyes stayed on the TV.

“Yeah, I have to catch the train.”

“You’re taking the train?” Yoongi said from the kitchen as I passed by him and Tae.

“Yeah, I don’t want to deal with the media at Incheon Airport.” I left my luggage in the corridor and quickly tied up the laces of my sneakers.

“When will you be back in Seoul?” Taehyung asked as he walked towards me holding a bowl of his Shin Ramyun. He picked a mouthful with his chopsticks and gestured for me to open my mouth, which I accepted happily.

“I’m not sure yet. I’ll be back here at the apartment by the time we leave for our flight though.” I answered as I chewed on the hot noodles with a hiss from how hot the stew was.

“Alright, have a safe trip.” Taehyung sent me a smile before he slurped a mouthful of noodles.

“Have a safe trip, Jimin ah.”

“Have a safe trip, hyung!”

Yoongi and Jungkook greeted me before I walked down the entrance hallway and exited the door.

Our van waited for me in front of our apartment building before it started its short drive to the Train Station. However, I did request the driver to stop by my favorite cafe for me to grab a breakfast sandwich and coffee before we went straight to the train station.

The train boarded at twelve in the afternoon. I made sure to keep a cap on my head and a mask on my face the entire time. It wasn’t much of a hassle getting on board as I picked the less busy hours to commute. The train itself also had seats that were more comfortable, so the most I had to do was to keep my white mask below my nose and keep my head down.

I wasn’t really tired considering the cup of coffee I drank on the way to the station, so I decided on opening Instagram once again. The late night on the balcony wasn’t the only time I checked the social media app.

A friend of mine showed me a fan’s artwork of me and the members during our trip to America. It was enough for me to stay online for another reason than to stalk. However, I made sure I left no digital footprint and only screenshotted the things that I really wanted to save.

I opened the Instagram app and scrolled through my feed. Encountering a few irrelevant posts before I saw some fan art. I knew I could find these in Weverse too though there were some that were exclusively posted on Instagram that I couldn’t find on our app.

Instagram also just showed me regular funny content instead of all BTS content, so it wasn’t like I just had it to see the works of our fans. As I scrolled the BTS content began to subside and I was about to log off until I found a very specific post…

I refused to believe it. Out of all the days Areum has stayed in South Korea, did she really visit Busan on the week that I was going to stay there? Perhaps it was a late post, though when I tapped on her profile and saw her latest post my heart sank to my stomach.

It was JiHyun with Areum.

It brings me to question if JiHyun knew that the Seongs visited Seoul. Did he tell Eomma and Appa? If so then why didn’t they tell me anything?

I guess I’ll find out when I arrive.

Though out of all the thoughts in my mind, I couldn’t help but laugh at one particular and absolutely ridiculous thought… Did Areum really mean the caption? There was absolutely no way JiHyun was her favorite. Eomma should be her favorite and there was no way I was below JiHyun. I mean… who loves that child over me?

I exited the app and promised myself an hour of rest as I tried to forget about all the possibilities of bumping into each other in Busan. I mean how crazy would that be? With my tight schedule for the new album, she manages to be in Busan the week I’ll be staying there? No way. I wouldn’t believe it until it happens.

Oh, how I bite my own words at times…

I got off the train and out of the station to meet the Busan air. Busan wasn’t much different from Seoul, though whenever I’m here I’m always taken back to my younger days. Even if I came here for work and projects, my body still associates this place as home and therefore every unsettling thought I had would immediately get pushed to the back of my mind.

I kept my head down just to be safe. The last thing I wanted was for people to know that I’m in town as soon as I arrived. I looked at my phone screen in my hands as the last text from JiHyun reflected back at me.

I quickly typed a message saying that I was already out of the station before I looked back up and tried to find my brother on the sidewalk. The place wasn’t so crowded though I still had to keep my head down since the sun was already burning through the fabric of my black cap.

“Jimin hyung!”

I heard a voice call out to me as my head snapped to the direction of the sound.

I saw my brother waving an arm up with a smile on his face as I also raised my hand up to wave before walking closer to him. He had this gummy smile on his face that I knew brewed trouble.

I was only a few steps away from JiHyun, the dragging of my luggage on the cement slowly faded as JiHyun stepped aside and showed Areum standing behind him.

Surprise? I guess?

My steps immediately halted as JiHyun was quick to take the three steps that separated us. He engulfed me in a hug though I didn’t do much to reciprocate it.

“Hyung, I hope you don’t mind Ahnna and Areum tagging along. They just surprised us at the cafe earlier this morning. Did you know they have been staying in Seoul since last year? Apparently, after Mr and Mrs Seong separated, Ahnna wanted to enroll in SOPA. Little Ahnna is all grown up now.” JiHyun was quick to info dump on me as I flicked my gaze between my overly enthusiastic though jittery and nervous younger brother and the same woman I saw on Instagram a few hours ago.

I don’t know if it was from the long trip to Busan or everything happening all at once but I was starting to get a headache, and the once freeing aura I felt in Busan was replaced with a heavy confusion and an annoyingly airy stomach that was becoming a common feeling for me.

“Slow down, JiHyun.” I forced a chuckle as I placed a hand on my younger brother’s shoulder.

“Jimin ssi must be tired from his trip. Ahnna already got us a taxi, let’s go?” Areum spoke in the tone she used with Soobin at the photoshoot. It was so foreign to me. Her voice was foreign to my ears though it was the way she addressed me that had my stomach churning. Since when was I held to such formality?

“I slept pretty well on the trip here, actually. Though I am starving for some of Appa’s cream toast.” I answered back though my eyes stayed on the laces of my shoes. I can feel myself holding back on my tone, as much as I wanted to talk in mocking formality it would do terrible things to an already severed and awkward bridge.

After all the exes I’ve had, I never once saw them again after we broke up. Whether it be flings or proper relationships, I always made sure that once they are in my life they only take up a portion of it. They can’t be connected to my family or friends and certainly not in my job. Perhaps that’s why they always managed to fail. The most presence and effect on my life they had was on my leisure time which was only about 10-15% of what I focus on.

But Areum was different. You could say I learned from my mistakes when I broke up with her. I couldn’t bear JiHyun getting upset at me for breaking up with a girl he liked me with. That’s why no other girl managed to come home to Busan with me. Areum was my friend first. Our parents were friends first and we were stupid enough to play with our feelings and sever the relationship our families had.

We all collectively turned our heads to see a younger woman waving at us while standing beside a yellow taxi. She looked just like the Instagram posts. She was practically a twin of Areum though there were a few differences. She looked more youthful and had an aura of a definite foreigner, unlike her older sister who still blended in naturally with national Koreans. Her skin was tanned and she had fewer moles on her face than her sister. She had colored her hair a tint of caramel brown though she was almost the same height as Areum. It was difficult to believe that this grown teenager was in fact the baby the three of us collectively babysat for our parents whilst growing up.

“No way! The last time I saw you was when you were ten?!” I gasped as Ahnna giggled and went closer to embrace me in a hug that I reciprocated.

“Jimin oppa! So glad to see you!” She said as we parted.

“I’m glad you’re using honorifics even after America.”

“Of course! Eumi reminded me to always use honorifics. Especially with you two oppas.” Ahnna pointed at me and JiHyun whilst glancing at a less elated Areum crossing her arms at what her younger sister said.

“That’s unnie to you.” Areum reminded, as Ahnna rolled her eyes.

Areum and Ahnna got into the backseat as JiHyun was about to head for the passenger door when our eyes met and I sent him a less-than-satisfied gaze. I wasn’t one to hate surprises though this type of information deserved at least a proper heads-up an hour prior. I saw Areum’s post. They have been together since earlier in the morning and not once did JiHyun message me to at least say a “Hey! Btw Areum is coming to pick you up”. I would’ve at least had a breath mint before coming out. I’m sure my breath stinks of mayo and coffee.

I got in the passenger seat as the taxi driver asked me where we were heading.

“Jinam-ro 127beon-gil.” I said as the taxi driver inputted the address on his navigation before we were on our way.

“When did you arrive here?” I asked, looking through the reflection of the rearview mirror to direct my question towards the Seong sisters.

“We arrived last night. I think around 8 pm?” Ahnna was unsure of the specifics though I saw Areum nod in the reflection to confirm that the younger was correct.

“What? Why didn’t you come to the Magnate then? Eomma and Appa could’ve served you dinner.” JiHyun asked.

“Oh, we weren’t sure what time the cafe opened or closed.” Ahnna sent a meek and shy smile before fiddling with her fingers.

“Besides, we were pretty exhausted by then and we didn’t want to bother.” Areum added.

“You guys are never a bother. You’re our family.” JiHyun spoke warmly and there was another churn in my stomach and I wasn’t so sure if this was because I was hungry.

“I’m surprised you didn’t even message me prior to your trip to Busan! I didn’t even know you were in Seoul!” JiHyun continued.

This confirmed the fact that Areum really didn’t tell anyone about their trip back to South Korea. This meant that I really couldn’t blame JiHyun and that I should’ve been cautious enough after seeing Areum’s posts.

“We weren’t planning to, but Ahnna really wanted to see Busan before she gets busy with school.”

I nodded in my seat up front before I decided on removing my cap and lowering my mask below my chin as we’d spent enough time in the taxi for me to know that the driver still respected the privacy of our conversation by not inserting himself in. I fixed my hair with a shake of my hand and checked the time on my phone to estimate what time we’d arrive at the cafe.

“Oh hyung! Did you know Ahnna is planning to enroll to SOPA?” JiHyun said as I turned back to look at the younger girl.

“School of Performing Arts at Seoul?”

“Yeah, I’m planning on joining after spring break.” Ahnna answered me as I nodded.

“My friend graduated there, I’ll see if he has some notes. It’s said to be very difficult.” I softly warned though it was a warm feeling to know that Ahnna was also interested in Arts.

“Aren’t all high schools hard though? It gets worse during college.” Areum squeezed Ahnna's shoulder before meeting my eyes through the reflection.

“Just stay focused… and keep in mind that people are here to help and support you, so don’t push us away when things get too stressful. We just want to help.” Areum’s stare burned into mine. Perhaps I was reading off her lines a bit too much, but I knew that her advice was a small jab at how I pushed her away during my years at Korean Arts High School.

“High school isn’t the end of everything, Ahnna. What department will you specialize in?” I redirected the topic.

“Practical Dance, though I’ll still give everything a try. I just know that I really want to pursue arts, whatever type it may be.”

“Are you thinking of becoming an idol?”

My question left a silence in the car. Suddenly all I heard was the rubber of the wheels against the asphalt and the engine of the taxi. I can see Ahnna and Areum give each other a look before Ahnna lets out a forced and awkward chuckle with a shake of her head.

“No… I don’t think becoming an idol is what I want.” Ahnna’s voice held uncertainty as she kept glancing at her older sister whilst playing with her fingers.

“Owh… such shame, I could’ve given some agencies a good word in for you. How old are you already?”

“I just turned 17 last year. I was going to do a year of high school here before going to university.”

“Ah! Speaking of university. Jimin hyung, when are you graduating?” JiHyun switched the topic before his hand came up behind the passenger seat.

“August. I still have a semester to go.” I smiled, more to myself though I was still proud to pursue proper education and learn a few new things I didn’t know before.

“You’re taking a major?” Areum asked in a small voice that I would’ve missed if I wasn’t so focused on gauging her reaction through the mirror.

“Yeah. Broadcasting and Entertainment major at Global Cyber University.” I turned around and sent her a closed-lip smile before turning back around, not staying too long to watch her reaction. I’d like to pretend that she smiled back and had a proud face for me, though I doubt it.

“What? So how do you do it? How do you balance idol life and University? Don’t you have a new album coming out? How do you do all your foreign promotions when you have classes?”

Areum had nudged Ahnna as the younger stopped her questions and looked shy by her curiosity. JiHyun was laughing as he squeezed the youngest by the shoulder to ease her as I myself let out a chuckle.

“You follow BTS?” I asked as Ahnna hesitantly shook her head which made me raise a brow.

“I’m not ARMY, but I listen here and there.”

“Uh huh, sure…” I showed my unconvinced tone as Ahnna widened her eyes and readied to defend herself.

“I’m interested in Arts! How could I not hear about you?!”

I let out a few laughs again as Ahnna raised her hands as part to defend herself though it looked like we had caught her like a deer in headlights.

“Well… I take online courses so I can do school and join lectures whilst I’m traveling and busy with work.” I answered, taking the hint that she was embarrassed enough by our discovery.

“And yes. We have a new album coming out so you better stream it.” I turned around and showed her a threatening face that I knew always made people laugh. I made my eyes bulge out and become wide and puffed out my nose before angling my head lower.

The three of them had busted out laughing, even Areum couldn’t hold a few giggles before bringing her hand to my cheek to shove it back into my passenger seat. Her soft warm hand still lingering on my cheek as I let out a few chuckles when returning to sit properly.

I took a breath out as I couldn’t help but let a small smile stay on my lips. It was all going to be fine. I’ll make do with whatever plan the world had in having me and Areum in Busan for the same week. Perhaps I can make up for my past mistakes and we can all go back to becoming friends. Just like before, just what Seongs and Parks are made to be.

We got off the Jinam-ro street and paid the taxi driver before we started walking towards the wooden signage with the words Magnate on it. Coffee, Brunch, Bakery, Story cafe. I was undoubtedly proud of my parents for opening their own Brunch Cafe, even if they closed at ten in the evening.

“Eomma and Appa are closing early so that we can have dinner without interruptions tonight.” JiHyun smiled as we walked closer to the faux hard steel door.

“Oh… We can head back now then. We don’t want to bother—“

“You’re never a bother, Areum noona.” JiHyun quickly interrupted as the woman chewed on the sides of her cheeks.

“JiHyun. I’m sure Jimin ssi wants to have some proper family time. I can only imagine how busy he can be. Why don’t we see each other again tomorrow instead.” Areum offered though my younger brother only shook his head and stayed his ground. As I was more offended at how Areum assumed my thoughts.

“Areum noona, you and Ahnna are family! Jimin hyung doesn’t mind.” JiHyun brought me closer to him with a grab of my shoulder as the girls awaited my thoughts.

“I really don’t mind. It’d be better if you were here. Eomma and Appa would love to hear about Mr and Mrs Seong.” I sent them a smile and Areum still looked hesitant and Ahnna had a mixture of a frown and a smile on her face.

We entered the cafe and it was less busy than the rush hours of the place though I made sure my cap and mask covered most of my identity as I knew this was a hotspot for ARMYs.

My eyes wandered across the Industrial interior designing of wood, iron, and aluminum. The last time I visited the place was a week after it opened, and the media had yet to know about the place. However, after some time it was publicly known to be owned by my father and was a fan attraction spot because of its exhibitions and connections to me.

I turned my head to the right to meet my father’s eyes and he left the counter to walk up to me and embrace me in a hug. I bowed and greeted him properly as he looked behind me and smiled at the three he had seen a few hours prior.

“Let me take your bag before I make you a coffee and some bread. How was your trip?” My father walked towards my luggage though I quickly beat him to it and shook my head.

“Appa! You’re running a business now! I should be the one taking my bag away.” I smiled as he let out a few snickers at how I phrased his new title.

“Aish Jimin ah, don’t phrase it like that! Come sit down, all of you before I take your order.”

“Appa! How about I leave my bag here and we will help you with getting us some food.” I let my backpack stay on one of the black square sofas in the center lower part of the cafe before all four of us followed Appa to the counter.

“Your Eomma is out buying some dinner. We’re all eating here tonight, is that alright with you? Areum and Ahnna?” My father asked as the girls only nodded.

“Dinner already? But it’s still so early.” JiHyun asked as he checked the clock and it was only a few minutes past five in the afternoon.

“Aish, we know how you young adults get when there’s a get-together. We didn’t want to drive home at three in the morning, so the earlier we let you drink, the earlier we get to go home.”

“Yah, Pil-woo ssi! Ahnna can’t drink!” Areum was quick to remind, though our old-time father only shrugged.

“She’s already 19 in Korean age.”

“Appa!” JiHyun lightly fought back.

“Am I wrong? She’s born in 2002, no?”

I nodded as my father smiled.

“Actually, I was hoping to get a good rest tonight before I get to do any drinking during the break. I still have to go to Busan High School tomorrow in the morning.” I said as I skimmed through the pastries displayed on the clear case.

“Why, hyung?” JiHyun asked as he went behind the counter and took out a chocolate croissant with edible gold as garnish.

“I need to check up on a donation I made.” I hid my face by opting to look down to the floor.

“Donation?”

“It’s just a few desks and chairs.” I shrugged as I went behind the counter to get tongs though my dad swatted my hand away and looked at me for the pastry I wanted. I pointed at the cubed-shaped cream toast as Appa smiled and went to open the case and pick one up to place on a plate.

“Can I come with you?” JiHyun asked as I simply sent him a smile and took the plate off my father’s hand with a small bow.

“Sure, but it’ll be pretty boring.”

JiHyun raised a brow as we turned to the girls and saw that Areum had a large round cheese bread on her plate and Ahnna had a regular croissant. I waited for them to order their beverages before we all collectively sat down at the sofas. Ji Hyun sat to my left as Areum and Ahnna sat across us.

“We can go around our middle and elementary school afterward. They’re only a few blocks away, no? Let’s all take a walk down memory road or something.” JiHyun suggested as I shrugged at his preposition before taking a piece of cream toast to my mouth. The sweet buttery and creamy textures exploded on my taste buds as I let out a hum and was instantly placed in a good mood.

“JiHyun, you should probably be touring Busan with Areum and Ahnna tomorrow. They miss Busan, so it would be nice to take them to the zoo we went to or go to the aquarium.” I suggested. Though not forcefully placing myself in the way of prior plans they might’ve made since I didn’t really have a fixed plan on what to do in Busan other than to relax.

“Yes! We should do that together after visiting school!” JiHyun looked like he was building a plan in his mind as Ahnna giggled with a shake of her head at the boy.

“Look at that, Ahnna is laughing at you! Why would Ahnna want to visit school during her break before school?!”

“Aish! She’s not laughing at me! Are you Ahnna?” JiHyun asked the youngest girl as she thinned her lips to hold giggles.

“See she is! They probably have plans already, JiHyun. They don’t just come to Busan without a plan or a tour guide. They just visited us today—“

“Ah, we don’t actually have plans. We were planning on just roaming around and going to the streets we used to hang around before. A trip down memory lane or som—“

“See! A trip down memory lane in our old schools! Perfect!” JiHyun cut off Areum as I only shook my head at my younger brother.

“Where are you guys going tomorrow?” Appa approached our table with four drinks on a tray.

“School first. Then the Aquarium! Then dinner at Haeundae River Cruise! Then Gamcheon for the next day! And we should go to the Art Museum too, we haven’t been there before…” JiHyun gradually stopped his flow of ideas as his eyes scanned all four of us, including Appa, staring at him.

To be fair everything he listed were good places though the way he organized it sounds like a back-and-forth ride from the shore to the northern side of Busan, which in itself is a nightmare with traffic.

“Aish! Why are you staring?!” He asked as he took a piece of his chocolate croissant to his mouth.

I started chuckling before I burst out in a laugh that had me crouching in my seat. Bless my brother’s soul as he excitedly explained all the places he wanted both me and the Seong sisters to see. I can’t blame him. We hadn’t seen each other in a long time and we both hadn’t seen the Seong sisters for years, though I wondered where the smallest bit of his composure was kept.

“JiHyun ah, calm down. Drink some…” I looked at our similar glasses as I looked back to our Appa to ask for the name of the drink.

“Dalgona Coffee. It’s popping up everywhere and I needed taste testers for it before we put them on the menu.” He shrugged before beckoning for me and JiHyun to try since Areum had settled for a coffee and Ahnna with a tea drink.

“It tastes good, Appa.” JiHyun smiled after taking a sip of his cold drink.

“What is it?” I asked as I gave it a slight mix before tasting it, feeling their eyes to gauge my reaction.

“Coffee powder, cocoa, and hot water whipped up to put over cold milk.” Appa explained as I put the glass to my lips and tasted the perfect mixture of frothy coffee and a hint of choco with cold cream to help glide the fluffy concoction across the throat smoothly.

“Mhmm… that’s good. It’s tasty, Appa.”

Appa sent me a smile before leaving us to attend to the counter with his staff.

“You want to try?” I titled the glass towards Areum and Ahnna as the younger girl declined though Areum was hesitant in reaching out.

“It’s good. The milk really balances it out.” I said as Areum took a sip of my cup before nodding and taking another longer sip.

“Ah, you can have mine.” I smiled and raised a hand to stop her from giving it back to me. She was hesitant and tried to hand it back to me though I only chuckled and kept my eyes on both Seong sisters.

“So you don’t have ready-made plans for Busan?” I asked.

“Yeah, we’re just going with the flow… We didn’t want to feel pressured into exploring places. We just wanted to relax and feel more at home.” Ahnna explained as I avoided letting a chuckle slip my lips at how I saw Areum had almost finished the glass of cold coffee. Though I really did like that Dalgona Coffee, so I should probably try finding it or making it back in Seoul.

“I can make a few calls for the three of you to join tours. I think I have a friend who knows someone who can do private tours, so you won’t feel too pressured to catch up with a group. I’ll give them a call. Do you have places in particular that you want to check out?”

“Oh… uh— not really. Whatever JiHyun said was fine…” Ahnna was unsure of her words as Areum quickly placed the glass down on the wooden table.

“What?! Jimin ah! You don’t have to do that!” Areum said in a fairly louder and less formal tone and I couldn’t help but let a smirk rise on my lips from her more open demeanor now.

“Seriously, JiHyun is so excited to have you around that if I didn’t suggest it then he’d probably bring it up later.”

JiHyun nodded his head up and down to confirm my words.

The Seong sisters gave each other a look before Ahnna slightly nodded.

“I’ll make a call as soon as I get home.” I smiled and mentally noted myself to not forget before a figure was slowly and hesitantly approaching our table in my peripheral vision. I thought the small group of women were going to pass by our table to head for the counter or perhaps the exit though they stopped just a few steps away from our table before I looked up at them.

“Hi Jimin! We’re really big fans, do you mind if we take a picture?” One of the women said as the rest of the table looked at them.

I really didn’t want to deny them a picture though that would most probably mean that the media will know about my stay at Busan. However, I came to the conclusion that a simple selfie would be fine.

I took a selfie with the women before they left and after that most of the customers leaving would stop by and say hi or ask for a picture that I willingly took. I guessed it would be better to give them a proper picture than something they’d record without me noticing. I made sure to place a finger on my lips as a shushing motion to hint at the fact that I want my whereabouts to be private though at the end of the day it was still up to them if they’d like the media to know what I was doing.

The cafe was closing early for the night, so as soon as Eomma arrived and we were finished closing up, we picked a large dining table at the corner of the cafe to use as our dining table.

Eomma bought various Korean dishes for the occasion. Sooner than later the wooden table was filled with Mussammari, Jeyuk Bokkeum, Baked Korean BBQ Ribs, Cheese Deung Galbi, various types of Kimbap, and Kimchi. Whilst, Appa and JiHyun went to grab us a jar of Purple Lemonade. We all sat down and started eating before the conversations started flowing.

“Areum ah, how have you been?” Eomma asked from beside me as I looked across me for the girl’s response.

“I’m good Mrs.Park.” She smiled before taking a Kimbap into her mouth.

“How is America? And your school?”

“It’s lovely. I graduated with Computer Science, but I’m pursuing cosmetology as my career path.” She explained as Eomma nodded though JiHyun, Appa, and Ahnna were still in their own conversation. I couldn’t help but be impressed at how far she had come. She really did achieve a lot while I was gone. I’m so used to being there with her to celebrate accomplishments that missing them made me realize that being there for her was normal for me.

“That’s great, Eumi. How about your parents and Aaron? Will they be visiting here soon?” Eomma asked.

“Uhm… Aaron spent New Year’s in Seoul. I don’t know about Eomma and Appa.” The girl shrugged and sudden awkwardness took over her figure. Eomma had taken her change in demeanor as a moment for her to stay silent and let the girl explain further.

“Eomma and Appa aren’t on the best of terms currently. Appa moved to Texas with a few of his friends so it’s only Eomma and Aaron in New York for now.” Areum sent a tight-lipped smile though kept her eyes on the BBQ Ribs.

“Oh Eumi…” Eomma started though words seemed to get stuck on her throat.

“I’m sure everything will solve itself. Sometimes all couples need is a little bit of space.” Eomma brought her hand to Eumi’s back before softly patting her skin through the fabric of her shirt.

“Yeah… hopefully.” She sent us a smile back before we avoided topics about family during dinner and instead focused on catching up through personal achievements.

It turns out Aaron graduated with a degree in Clinical Medicine and had been slowly climbing the stages of a Hospital in New York before becoming a fully licensed Physician last year.

Ahnna loved Dance ever since she was exposed to the American Hip Hop community at the age of 13. She joined dance related after-school activities before fully pursuing dance by getting classes and a coach who recommended her to come study in South Korea as our dance programs were more favorable for her.

That’s also the reason why Areum came with her younger sister. Ahnna couldn’t come to South Korea on her own and Areum had decided to leave her part time job as a Software Developer to focus on cosmetology in Seoul. It also helped that prior to moving to Seoul, she was already taking in clients in America to master her techniques so that by the time she arrived she was able to find various stable jobs, including a job at HYBE.

She said that she really didn’t know I was an artist in HYBE, much else an idol. She didn’t expand on her thoughts about it further as she opted to switch the topic after a congratulations sent my way. So I could say that she was proud of me, though part of me felt as though I was cheating her by achieving something from the reason why we separated.

The night had ended off with no alcohol though filled stomachs and Appa decided to bring out a full-sized blueberry cheesecake and Rainbow cake.

Seeing Areum and Ahnna and actually speaking with them had brought a sense of security over the questions I asked myself after the photoshoot with the BigHit family. I left the cafe in a car with my family, happy and relaxed and this time I’m pretty sure it wasn’t just because of the Busan atmosphere.

For those of us who don't have twitter, could you briefly explain what's going on with taekook supposedly being sabotaged? I keep hearing about lots of drama going on with them on twitter. It would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Cliff notes:

Some Korean Brian solo stans created a secret and highly toxic forum on the website DC Inside. There's also a similar Japanese site as well involved.

On this website these stan plotted over several yes to discredit, and debase mostly JK. Mainly spreading rumours. They call JK "That Bastard" or "slut" a lot it seems.

Allegedly, they created and pretended to OT7 accounts that subtly promoted up Brian and not other members, particularly JK. They even posed as Taekookers and JK/V solo stans to so seeds of hate both in that ship and towards Brian.

They try to pit sides othe fandom against each other. With JK side always.

They've spread fake rumours about JK, nd appears to have been involved in creating additional allegations during JK's 2019 dating scandal and the 2020 Itaewon event during Covid, to make it seem was than it actually was.

Secondary to this, they also targeted Tae and more recently Suga.

It's suggested the whole Gurumi plot to spread dating rumour on Tae and Jennie last year came from this group. With the help of HYBE staff who were in the group providing information and photos.

It's rumoured they leaked the smoking photo of Tae at the Grammys.

Some on the site call Tae "Bald", some call Hobi "Lado" which is supposed to be derogatory too.

The plotted are plotting to hamper JK, Tae and Suga's solo releases/tour. Mocked Suga's album sales.

They admit to insulting members on their social media, weverse and on Lives.

I have never seen JK more snapier with anyone than he is with Taehyung. He is critical of Taehyung's work, doesn't shy away from raising his voice, hits him when Taehyung makes mistake, become a brat, ignore him, rolls his eyes, demand things from him, take him for granted, you name any bratty behaviour he might have done that with Taehyung. Other members see parts of these behaviours towards them, not a whole picture. Then you see him pouting when he can't get close to Taehyung, doesn't leave an opportunity not to compliment him, supports and encourages Taehyung and his work, walking dictionary of Taehyung's whereabouts, indulges Taehyung and his demands, follows him through his eyes, shares the most awesome telepathic connect, have star struck eyes looking at his bae, shows his bias. You see all these extreme behaviour is for Taehyung, not in bits and pieces but as a full package. You can be disrespectful towards your hyungs if you are super close to them. He is a child and a man with Taehyung. This makes me think they are real. Not one part of the spectrum but the whole rainbow.

Do you have your fav moments of JK being a brat with Taehyung and him indulging Kookie in return?

Yes yes yes to Jungkook simultaneously being the freest with both his annoyance and his adoration with Taehyung! I agree that this is one of the things that really makes the possibility of them being a couple seem likely to me.

At first I wasn’t sure I’d be able to come up with favorite moments for this, but they’re actually popping into my head pretty easily.

I think the most obvious example is the time from a V Live with Taekook, Jin, and Jimin several years ago, when Jimin brings up the fact that Jungkook had scolded Taehyung at rehearsal earlier that day. It easily could have been a tense moment, but instead, Taehyung was all about it lol, he encouraged Jungkook to talk about it and clearly thought it was funny and kind of cute.

I’ve also noticed and agree that in general he is really critical of Taehyung’s work, like I don’t know if it’s that he feels a sense of connection to him, so he feels at some level like Tae’s work reflects on his own, but there are a lot of examples of him scolding Tae for messing things up, or just holding him to a high standard. One is during the Dynamite MV shoot when Tae missed the cue for his pose and Jungkook got annoyed with him and smacked his shoulder.

I don’t know if I would say Tae usually indulges him necessarily in those moments, but he does seem to listen to him and try to improve, like when he wasn’t understanding the jacket thing during the rehearsal for their Grammy performance recently. Jungkook was frustrated and trying to explain, and instead of getting annoyed back, Taehyung just kept trying to understand and do his best.

Peak Jungkook-being-a-brat-to-Taehyung behavior is, I think, the 2019 to 2020 New Year’s V Live. I don’t know what was going on there, but Jungkook was pouting when Taehyung talked about going on a healing trip by himself, snapping at Tae to tell him what he wanted to say wasn’t important -- and yet Taehyung looked so fond through the whole thing. When Jungkook essentially told him to shut up (not that aggressively, obviously, but still, it was noticeably snippy), he just did it, and yet continued to make heart eyes at Jungkook through the whole live.

Bonus: An example of the opposite would be the post-AMAs group V Live when Jungkook was clearly feeling a bit on edge after the way everything had happened. He basically fully yelled at Yoongi to stop talking over him, but when Tae did the same thing two seconds later, he just shut right up and listened to him talk lol.

Like you said, he’s brattier with Taehyung, but he’s also sweeter and more indulgent. I think the way I’ve described it before is that his sharp edges are sharper with Taehyung, but his softer bits are that much softer too, and to me, it definitely seems like further evidence that they’re extremely close, because we’re the fullest versions of ourselves with the people who know us best and love us most.

Memories of 2020 - A first look into all the content (OT7 as well as vmin and namjin)

As promised here’s my second post in which I just want us to have a look at some of the amazing content Memories of 2020 has in store for us. If you don’t want spoilers while you wait for your DVD (though I don’t know how anyone can hide from all the pictures and videos being posted everywhere) this post isn’t for you. If you want to have a look, than it’s very much for you. Truly there is so, so much here and everything I mention just scratches at the surface of it all. There’s more than eleven hours to go through after all!

From anon: Good luck for all the incoming questions regarding j*k*ok and their moment in memories - I think you know which one! I for one am enjoying all of the content and the love that each member has for the other, including vmin ofc. My favorite moment so far is definitely vmin kissing namjoon though - excited to hear about y'all's favorite moments :)

As I mentioned in my previous post, no worries anon, we barely got any and I already gave my opinion. As for our favorite moments, some of them are listed here along with other fun things, though I’ll admit, that forehead kiss was just so, so adorable. I mean, what other way is there to celebrate Namjoon’s birthday if not by kissing his forehead and squishing his cheeks?

One of the first things for the year were their practices for ON and Black Swan with the LAB dancers. We got a wider shot of Jimin helping Tae stretch, which we also previously got in their IG story last year, as well as Tae cutely asking Jimin to teach him how to do the cartwheel.

Furthermore we also saw Jimin practice his Black Swan solo dance which, what a surprise (not really), Tae was present for and (by the look of it) was filming him to show him later how it looks. I wonder if this was around the time when Tae wrote on weverse that Black Swan=Jimin.

Then when filming the ON MV we got to see vmin dancing, the full version of what we originally saw in the teaser and contrary to what anons tried to suggest, as in that Tae wanted to remove Jimin’s hand, it was actually him moving Jimin’s hand so he could twirl him around and continue the dance further. Afterward Tae also repeats the dance with the little girl that starred in the MV alongside him so I wonder if this is when Tae introduced Jimin to her.

Then we saw some more of vmin being adorable at that one MOTS7 interview in NYC whereafter Jimin led Tae down the stairs while JK was behind them asking Tae if he was crying. The context here being that Tae was “sulking” because he didn’t get a chance to say the answers he’d prepared in English so, once downstairs, Jimin along with JK and Hobi (who was filming him much the way he did at the Grammys when a similar situation happened) encouraged him to at least show them his answers while Tae pretend cried and sulked some more.

Speaking of MOTS7, we also got some more behind the scenes of the jacket photoshoots which included vmin as dark angels and Jimin charming Tae while he was speaking, namjin making jokes about darks/ducks, and Tae and Seokjin looking stunning but we have an entire Bangtan Episode for that so I’ll save including a visual for this so I can include more pictures of other things instead. I hope you don’t mind.

We also had Jimin visiting Hobi and Yoongi on the sets of Interlude: Shadow and Outro: Ego which, judging by Jimin’s outfit, might’ve been filmed at the same time? Which, to be honest, makes a lot of sense. But the reactions were so different, as in Hobi was so happy and bubbly when Jimin came while Jimin “complained” that Yoongi barely even paid attention to the fact that he came. Their different dynamics are just so cute and interesting.

We also got so, so much content from the Daechwita MV filming, including a video of JK petting a chicken to the point that the chicken fell asleep. JK and animals, a very precious concept. Honestly I love this MV (the visuals are unreal) and the song so I’m glad we got to see more of the behind the scenes.

We also got plenty of Dynamite dance practice shenanigans like this:

Since we’re on the topic of dance practice, one thing that truly impressed me was Jimin’s core strength which we got a presentation of via him doing a headstand, as well as some gymnastics type looking something with JKs help. The control and strength he needed in order to lift himself up like that? Insane. Especially since he also lowered himself back down again in a controlled manner as well which makes it even more impressive. These men are so athletic, wow.

One of the moments I loved the most because it’s so meaningful and genuine is this one where they were filming their AMA performance and it was also the day of Tae’s grandma’s 70th birthday so, like the good boy he is, he decided to call/FaceTime her and Jimin joined him. From what I’ve seen Jimin used language showing that he’s familiar with her and it’s cute how natural this moment looks, like of course Jimin is there with Tae wishing his grandma a happy birthday. To be fair Seokjin also comes by and calls out a happy birthday but walks away just as quickly leaving just the two of them behind. Adorable.

Side note - Hobi singing You are my soulmate while vmin were practicing their Chingu performance? It really is his favorite song.

Honestly all the Seokjin and JK, as well as Hobi and JK content is so adorable and fun and there is so, so, so much more of it to be found and enjoyed than what I managed to include here. I’m glad we got to see so much more of their interactions across Memories of 2020 especially since they are the kinds of bonds that don’t get nearly enough attention most of the time which is a shame.

There were quite a few things included from their Esquire photoshoots but this moment with Namjoon, Tae and Hobi is just...wow. Love it. It’s one of my favorite moments and now also one of my favorite pictures of those three together. The fact that Tae was wearing a crop top for his solo pictures yet we didn’t get to see it (properly)? Wow.

From anon: Why is there so little Namjin in the memories of 2020 😞 I’ve seen so much from all the other pairings. It’s made me sad.

I don’t know who lied to you, dear anon, or who hid all the good stuff from you but rest assured we got plenty of wonderful namjin content, and this likely isn’t even all of it.

Does Seokjin’s sweater say RM in hangul? Yes, it very much does. And is that Namjoon trying to stop Seokjin from walking away? Yes indeed. Much to think about.

And that’s about all I’m able to include without tumblr telling me I’m just doing too much. Like I said this is just basically a glimpse at all the content so everyone who ordered the Memories of 2020 DVD, there is plenty more for you to look forward to. Series Masterlist: Little Black Book

You should be embarrassed at how loud your stomach growled but you were too exhausted to care. You murmured a ‘thank you’ as your order of Katsu Kimchi Nabe was placed on your table. You immediately dug in, closing your eyes in satisfaction at the first bite.

With your stomach in a better condition, you looked around. The small cramped space was half full, it was way past lunch time anyway. The little katsu place was a hole in the wall, but the food was homely and delicious. And its location, just a block away from your office, hidden in an alley, was perfect. It was a good getaway place when things got a bit too much.

Your eyes caught a couple of men sitting just next to your table. You noticed the EMS uniform first, and when your eyes travelled up to their faces, you had to look away. You had encountered handsome men- Seokjin for one, Hoseok another- but these two took your breath away.

Perhaps feeling your eyes on them, the one with the curly hair turned to you and smiled. “Came here often?” He asked.

His partner burst out laughing. “That is such a cheesy line. I apologise for him.”

Curly hair pouted playfully. “I’m just making conversations, hyung. And we all should come here often because the food is so good!”

You laughed and gestured to your meal. “It is good. Can never go wrong with this. Are you both paramedics?”

The two men smiled. “Yes,” curly haired answered, “we’re on our lunch break. And yourself? What do you do? If you don’t mind me asking, of course.”

You shook your head. “Not at all. I’m an attorney. My office is just around the block.” You took out your business card and handed it to Curly Hair. “In case you need legal advice.”

Curly Hair took your card. “Miss ______, very nice to meet you. I’m Kim Taehyung, and this is Park Seojoon.” Curly Hair- Taehyung- looked playfully at you. “You know, you can just ask me for my number and I’ll gladly give it to you.”

You scoffed at his remark, and his partner chided him in mock annoyance. “You’re such a shameless flirt.”

Taehyung winked at you. “I’ll give you my card in return. Hang on.” He reached into his pocket and took out a scrap of paper. He scribbled on it and gave it to you.

“Wooga Band. Wednesday 7pm.” You raised an eyebrow at the name of the club and the address he had written underneath. It was a little bar near your university. You wondered if Taehyung was a fellow alumnus.

“That’s us. And a couple more of my hyungs. Come see us play.” Taehyung invited. “We play till 9, then maybe I can take you to my favorite katsu place.”

You snickered at his flirting. The older paramedic piped in, “We’re not that bad, seriously. Come check us out.”

“Good.” He clears his throat. “I haven’t seen you much since…. well since that night, so I was worried…”

“I told you I was busy.”

“Yeah I know, I know.” He sighs wistfully. “Still, I was worried.”

“Taehyung, that night,” you lower your voice, “is one of the best nights of my life.”

He smiles smugly as he leans in. “It is pretty mind blowing for me too.”

“Honestly, I was extremely nervous about it, but once we started, oh my god, Tae, it was so fucking hot. I still think about it a lot.”

Taehyung smirks. “Don’t you have a boyfriend now? Should you not be this obvious about that night?” He teases.

You take a swig off your beer. “Well, he doesn’t need to know everything I did in the past, does he?”

You both giggle giddily. God, you really miss him.

“So, we’re good?” He asks.

“Of course, we always are.” You clink your beer with his cola, your crush long forgotten but your friendship remains intact. “Wooga Band is getting more fans, I see.” You look around to see a considerably larger crowd than when you first saw them play many months ago.

“Yeah, it’s great. The club keeps asking us to play more nights, you know.“

“Wow, that is amazing! Once you record a song with Yoongi, you’ll be a household name!”

Taehyung waves your comment away shyly. “Ah, we’ll see. It’s nice to think that, but… we’ll see.”

You hum. “Are you still working as a paramedic?”

He nods. “Yeah, but this month would be my last.” He chuckles at your shocked expression. “I’m going back to get my Master’s. I want to be a counselor.”

“Taehyung, that’s wonderful! I’m so happy to hear that.” You truly are happy for him. He has mentioned before that he wanted to do more to help people. You hug him. “You will make such amazing difference in people’s lives.”

He hugs you back then lets you go. “You’ve always been my biggest cheerleader. Thank you.”

You look at him fondly, then hug him again. “I’ll always support you, Tae.”

Your boyfriend joins you later that night, work having kept him longer than usual. You introduce him to Taehyung and the band (he has met Yoongi before), and you wonder at Taehyung’s tone towards your boyfriend when the former says, “Good to know she’s in good hands.”

You don’t spend too much time pondering that, however, as your boyfriend pulls you to the side, a little away from the group so he can kiss you properly. You smile at him lovingly, content to be in his embrace.

“Yoongi seems to like Taehyung and his band a lot.” He comments.

You nod as you snuggle him. “I bet he already has a song in mind for them.”

Another band is on the stage, playing something sensual. The alcohol you have consumed, combined with your conversation with Taehyung about THAT night, is stirring something inside you. You wrap your arms tighter around your boyfriend’s middle, resting your head on his chest. You swear his pecs get bigger after every trip to the gym.

“You’re clingy tonight.” He teases. You look up at him and pout. He smiles before leaning down to kiss you.

“Daddy,” you call him sweetly.

“See, clingy.” He kisses the tip of your nose.

“Daddy,” you whisper, “would you ever want to do a threesome?”

here are 7 reasons why re-posted bc tumblr won't let me change my original post:

1 kbs news behind the scenes

being on kbs news was the moment where it really sunk in with the boys that they were famous. it was a big goddamn deal for them as shown by the shout-outs to their parents. and tae turned to jk for physical reassurance on the way to the studio. after, as they were exiting the building, tk started getting clingy before springing apart when they realized the cameras were still on them.

2 their encyclopedic knowledge of each other

not only do they know minute details about each other, they're more than willing to share with the class. it's adorable how they call each other out on things like tae telling everyone he's allergic to beans (he's not, claims jk in a run ep, he just doesn't want to eat them), or tae broadcasting jk's love of white wine (dykm). tae also knows how jk likes his drinks and helps him top his drink off without even looking (fdp 2022). jk takes tae's steak off his plate to cut it up (fdp 2022). what's even cuter is that many times no one even asks but they volunteer information like when they share about the fortune teller or their playing dress up on a trip (v.lives).

3 the amount of care that jk takes when it comes to tae

jk's said that he gives up on things easily but when he really wants to do something he gives it his all. look at the time he took and the amount of care over the snow globe he made for tae (in one of the winter packages). when he cooked for tae in one of the cutest its2 moments, his own version looked delicious but lackluster compared to the feast he whipped up for tae.

4 tae's hands

tae has the habit of reaching forward when he's making a point he's interested in. watch the way he reaches in jk's direction with his palms facing down when he mentions jk in a group conversation. or the way he pulls at jk's arms (3J+tae vlive in ptd lv when jk tries to leave to shower, gda 2020, proof live onstage at kbs music show).

5 the perilla leaf argument and food

in which tk argue that there's no f-ing way they'd be ok with their partner helping a friend with the perilla leaf. chopsticks are an extension of the self and chopsticks touching denotes closeness.

yet jk has fed tae with his own chopsticks many times. tae has literally eaten food that was halfway to jk's mouth (the documentary premiere). tae has stuck his fingers in jk's mouth while feeding him (its1).

more on the topic of food. tae's love language revolves around food. it's something he's learned from his mother (who packed sandwiches for everyone in its1) and he's given kimchi to his wooga friends. while waiting for the 2021 grammys announcement, tae is visibly peeved when jk asks for food. not because he doesn't want to share but the tone is more "babe, i asked you! and you said no but now you're hungry". note that he gives jk food (and even feeds him) when jk acts cute for him. in its2, they spend almost all the food scenes next to each other.

6 they're each other's biggest fans

tae waxes lyrical (pun intended) about jk's music. his tone is gentle in the recording he makes for jk in the 2020 winter package where he tells jk he thinks jjk is the best singer in korea. note that he thought this recording was going to be private.

tae takes pride in being one of the first/only people to listen to jk's music. he's championed stay, talked about listening to my you a month before it was released, and praised your eyes tell over the song he was supposed to be promoting.

normally reticent jk goes on and on about how hot he thinks tae is. and let's not forget the number of times he's been caught giving tae the up and down. instances that come to mind: maknae vlive in ptd la, my universe btb, dynamite mv making clip).

7 physical touch

how many bros or friends do you know who touch each other's inner thighs for an extended period? or cuddle and nap wrapped up together?

there are too many instances to count where they've lounged on each other (its1, festa dinner party 2022, and gda 2020 for a small sample). they're touchy on camera and in front of a stadium full of people (dope and dna in ptd lv) or when they think they're off camera like when they're reviewing pictures. the way jk ran his hand along tae's back and then patted his ass in the proof live premiere. they get visibly pouty when asked to step away from each other.

the mvp: the styles concert video jh took where jk pulls tae's hand over his heart.

there's an abundance of moments. i'm sure other people have their own favorites, this is just a shortlist that comes to mind.

My Thoughts While Watching Memories 2020 Disc 4

Continuing my thoughts as I watch memories 2020 as requested. Again, most of these are just random thoughts, 70% of them started out as texts to @1imstillme3 that I'm copy/pasting over. I'm loving getting to watch all the behind content so far! This again, isn't even close to everything that happened in each of these videos, just some parts that stood out to me and made me smile. If you don't want any memories spoilers or to see what happens in the clips, stop reading now! Lol Disc 4 was long, so it's just the one Disc this time!

Dynamite MV Making Film:

NamGi dancing for their scene together was the cutest thing, their giggles. Yoongi and the basketball. I love him. And then Jungkook just telling us "no matter what you do, you need to have the spirit to challenge yourself" protect him forever please.

Jimin summoning Jungkook for demerits and punishment at the deans office for breaking a light during the Dynamite MV shoot 🤣 the light that only got broken because JinKook were fighting over who gets to sit where apparently 😂 I don't know if I should giggle at Jinkook or side eye Jimins choice of role-play here.

Tae slapping JKs chest multiple times to get JK to focus and pay attention for them all to end day 2 with a fighting to the camera. But it takes multiple hits because JK was watching Jimin laughing and smiling 🥺🥺 None of the members except Tae were really giving the camera any attention here. Lol he just wanted everyone to focus please and thank you 😂

Namjoon saying that you could be reported for acting like he did in the record store in a real store in Korea so don't do it. Lmao no loitering please 😂 He is so precious.

Tae having a crisis over picking sunglasses and JinKook just fighting each other the entire time in the background. And another case of the Tannies giving Tae everything he wants. "If Tae says we go again, we all go again, no worries TaeTae baby" They love him 🥺

They didn't show us any behind clips of jikook after Jimin jumped on his back for the piggy back ride and I'm so sad because I'm sure that was a giggly cute mess of a reaction!

Dynamite Dance Practice Making Film:

Jimin starting off practice by singing Dynamite to Hobi, flirting with JK, vmin hugging as their Dynamite entrance. Hobi helping Yoongi correct a dance move, RM helping Jimin with flowing smoothly over the English lyrics. Jimin rapping Yoongis part. Just so much fun for Day 1.

Day 2 started with chaos. NamKook crawling all over the floor and running into Jimin. Jimin copying JK as he practices his opening dance. Jimin having too much energy and Goofing off. JK just watching him fondly before joining in and doing their weird lift move that even left the editors confused and had Hobi giggling. Ending with Jin hanging off JKs back, with his arm shaking from the effort of keeping himself up there as JK laughs. Lol Vmin warming up by Tae beat boxing and Jimin dancing to it. JK singing while laying face first on the group. Namjoon yelling. Why are they like this??

Final day ends with Anpanman practice too. Tae is wearing his shirt all tucked in so JK can't wave it around like he normally does. So he instead all cutesy plops his head down onto Taes shoulder to get into the selca (video?) that Tae was taking at the start. They were so busy. Doing Dynamite, boy with luv, anpanman, black swan and idol practices! Idol was full of so many giggles and smiles as they practiced. I loved it

Grammy Press Play & 2020 MTV Awards Making Films:

I've yet to see a video from memories so far that hasn't had some type of JinKook sparring moment. Lol JK tapped his butt, Jin responded with a punch, and then off they went as Jimin stood in the middle of them just trying to do some vocal warm ups. Lmao Everyone else: getting ready for the performance. Jungkook: pretending to swim underneath the stage.... whatever makes you happy

Yoongi playing the guitar, JK saying he always hears the guitar at sets now. He says that he will start painting as his new hobby and sell his paintings and donate 50% of the profits. Lmao imagine the killing he would make if he ever decided to do that for real

TaeTae struggling with the spice in their food and the way he side eyes Namjoon for having no problems with it. Lmao we know they normally have similar tastes in food with spice levels. The way Tae doubled down to eat it anyway though. And Joonie playing right along with the CEOs at a bar skit Tae started 🥺

They kill every performance they do. Honest to goodness. Hobi had all of one line in Dynamite and yet Dynamite Hobi was a whole cultural reset. He owned this era and shined!

Today Citi Music Series Making Film:

Namjoon calling Yoongi his Uparupa. STOP 😭 he proceeded to introduce the members by animal (?) Jin as an alpaca, then Jungkook was introduced as our Muscle Man. Hobi as their baby horse dancer, Tae was introduced as "our unscientific, we call him V" I don't know what that means. Lol and then he called Jimin his puppy. He claimed Yoongi and Jimin as his though 😭 even though his puppy was too busy to play. Man. We aren't even 2 minutes into this video and I am SOFT.

Do you remember Tae recommending ARMY jobs on Weverse? Turns out he was roping all the members into helping with that too. Jungkook twice at first, then Hobi, then RM, then Jin 🥺🥺 so funny and so cute. Technically all those ARMYs got noticed by all the members too then

"We are friends who shed hot sweat together" Well alright then. Lmfao okay Jin! Interesting way to say that

JK running around popping all the prop balloons with goofy jumps and punches and jabs with the needle in his hand is the cutest thing. He had such a good time!

2020 iHeartRadio Music Festival Making Film:

Kookie saying he wants the Dynamite lights. JHope replying that "you can hang them up in YOUR home" honestly, anyone who thinks they still live together is simply lying to themselves. Lol I truly hope this isn't something to be debated about anymore. It's increasingly obvious over and over again.

The hand holding of Jimin and Jungkook where they twirled around each other? Lmao the caption was "hand holding and swirling. Jimin and Jungkook's friendly way of warming up" 🤣🤣 Then editors judging Namjoon for doing Burpees before their performance to warm up 🤣🤣 "who does burpees as a warm up??"

V showing off new dance steps to Hobi and looking at him all proud for his reaction 🥺 why are they the cutest

Jikook talking about their old bus routes in Busan and Jin just trying to start shit about being taller than Jimin but getting ignored 😂JK forcing his way onto the hood of the car to sit with Jin and then reviewing the choreo in tiny together 🥺 Followed by 3J cracking themselves up by taking bad and silly photos of RM and Jin through the screen while they shot their extra scenes 😂🤣

Reviewing Spring Day footage, JK starts imitating Tae's singing voice sending maknae line into giggle fits together 🥺 Everyone talked about the moment where Jimin called JK pretty with the petals in his hair (yes, I agree. I melted) but why did I never notice the sweet staff member giving Hobi a shoulder massage right next to them 🥺

Tae once again asking Jiminie to help him with an acrobatic move. Lmao I love them. And in all the bts chaos, the tiny makeup Noona is absolutely in charge. Stopping Jimin from continuing just by standing in front of him with her comb for his hair. 😂

14 hours?! To shoot 4 songs!! Omfg they work so hard 😭

Grammy Museum: The Drop & NPR Tiny Desk Making Film:

Jikook staring at Tae who is singing facing the back wall for some reason during rehearsals 😂Jimin hyping us his bestie with the biggest grin as Tae nails the ending notes for Dynamite 🥺 RM kneeling and holding his hands out as Tae sings it too. They love him!!

Hobi pointing out Halseys LP record while they are getting ready for NPR "saying it's our friend, Halsey" all proud 🥺

HopeKook literally decided to harmonize that part on Save Me on NPR legit right before they recorded the songs. WHY ARE THEY SO TALENTED?!

3J being the first ones to get up and dance during Save Me rehearsals. Jungkook looking right at Jimin before doing exaggerated dance moves with the Save Me choreo and making Jimin giggle was so cute. Then Vmin scooting their chairs back and turning them around the watch the band rehearse their spring day parts too. I love how much they enjoy their band!

I love Yoongi. That's it. That's the note. That's all he needs to do is exist and I'm in total awe of him. Sigh....

AGT Making Film:

Hobi was so worried about Namjoon shooting on the roof for AGT. lol said he was worried because it was Namjoon up there. 😂 Yoongi just standing pretty patiently waiting for his lines on the hood of the car 😍😂

Jimin directing the head bopping from JK, Jin and Hobi that'll be happening behind him for his part when I never even knew they were back there at all during the performance 🙈 I was way too focused on Jiminie the whole time. Honestly though, I also had a very hard time not looking at Hobi through this whole video segment.

Taking a break for food and Jimin just taking like 10 photos of Yoongi eating dying over his cuteness the whole time. Relatable, Jimin. So Relatable. I get it. Lol also JK feeding Jiminie, so cute. JinMin continually photobombing JK is my favorite 😂🤣 They filmed AGT performance in 2.5 hours at 1 in the morning 😭 I'm glad they gave them such yummy snack breaks at least. They work soooo hard.

The Tonight Show BTS WEEK Making Film:

1 minute into the tonight show filming. Home is first. Jimin starts us off. And when it's RMs turn the captions say "RM has appeared in Jimin's dream." At the end, They asked whose home it was, JK asked if it was Hobi hyungs home? RM said no, it's Jimin's home. Jimin said "isn't it my home?" And they ended with "Jimin will clean this up since it's his home" 🤣 Still interesting that while some didn't know, and it was obviously a joke, the producers and editors, RM and Jimin too, all seemed well aware it was being portrayed as Jimins home and his dreams as we went through the house and song. And in Jimins dream and in his home, it was Jikook in bed and house parties/couch cuddles with the members. 🤐🤐

Not them all trying to sneaky stick marshmallows to each other's clothes through the set!

Yoongi saying that he was remembering their early days and now they are performing at Gyeongbokgung palace 🥺😭

Not TaeJin saying RM should change his name to Bathroom Monster or Rap Toilet because he always goes to the bathroom right when they are ready to start shooting 😭😭🤣🤣🤣 and then the way Jin tries to talk to the camera and you just hear No no no no from the back before HopeKook come running into the frame and start trying to take over the camera angle. And while they end up bickering, Tae ends up just walking off with it and talking to us instead 🤣 Why are they like this??

Jungkook playing with skates. "Ah, this should fit Jimin" please they are always on each other's mind! Tae smiling at Jimin as he cleans the floor for his Dynamite intro and Jimin looking so so fond back at him 🥺 Vmin please

The skating chaos ending with everyone is exhausted but Jimin and jungkook are still having fun with the skates. And it cuts to them skating super fast around the rink together with big smiles and giggles. It's always them staying late and continuing the fun things together and just loving life together 🥺🥰😍 Jimin ending with a cool spin. Jungkook copying him. And then Tae praising Jimin and telling him how cool his spin was and asking him to show him again. And Jimin showing him again to more praise before they start getting told that shooting with skates is over. Lol they are so sweet.

They were getting ready for black swan and it was MIDNIGHT. They work so late. Midnight though on Namjoons birthday, so all getting ready progress halted for everyone to tell him happy birthday and sing to him. Hobi gave hugs and vmin gave him kisses 🥺🥺 Jimin reaching around and over and through the 3 makeup noonas surrounding him and trying to continue to get him ready to keep a hand on Namjoon sitting next to him and tell him happy birthday again 🥺🥺🥺 which probably wasn't helpful for them, but it was cute. Lmao

Jin giggling over getting to tell Hobi he saw him make a mistake in the Black Swan choreo instead of it being the other way around. Lmao 2seok is so cute, I cannot.

The jikook black swan back hug gets me everytime 🥰 But the very end of the video is literally BTS dog piling BTS in jumping hugs shouting happy birthday 🥺🥰 I love them!

Radio.com Live Making Film:

Lmao starts right off with preparing for Dynamite and Namjoon randomly yelling at Jimin saying that the High pitch on Dynmaite is his fault and Jimin getting all confused. Yoongi practicing guitar anywhere and everywhere in the middle of Bangtan chaos makes me so soft.

Jimin checking out JK working out, literally leaning all the way around Namjoon to watch him for a second, before joining the NamKook workout regime Jimin cutely tapping JKs chest during their Dynamite part to get his attention and the editors using couple slang as a caption for them (꽁냥 꽁냥 = gong-yang ggong-nnyang) which basically just means when a couple has cute and adorable behaviors towards each other. But then off setting that with the caption at the bottom saying "best friends" lmao

Jimin warming up by doing crawling push ups across the floor as Namjoon shouted encouragements from the side with a giant proud smile on his face 🤣😂 this crawling warm up all over memories is cracking me up

Hobi getting insanely excited and happy while rolling around on a skateboard and picking up his coffee. I love him. He followed that up by going to go bug Jimin. Lol Jimin trying to play games on his phone and Hobi just wants to take a million pictures of him.

The "they look especially close today" caption when Jimin went in for a kiss still gets me 😂 and The clip of the camera going back and forth between jikook and they make silly faces? Hobi was filming that one! And it ended with a zoom in on RM joining in on the camera silliness 🥺 so cute.

Yoongi looked so fond and smiled so cute at Tae as he was talking about the Billboard Music Awards during their ending mentions.

I'm loving memories so far! I've still got discs 5 - 7 to go. This again, is obviously not everything that happens, a lot happens! These are some of my thoughts over the moments that I noticed though. I can keep going as I watch more content with these posts if yall want. Hope you all have a wonderful day/night! 💜

I managed to pull through with a 2020 timeline post after decades of procrastinating. Yay.

This is one of Taejin’s recent legendary moments, which I personally feel is on par with “What if he flings it? - Then he flings it. You can’t even do that for him?”

All of the members love each other, a fact that’s not up for argument, but both getting on the knees and flinging the pancake are incidents that I believe would look very very different and probably would not have happened if it weren’t Taejin. These gestures go above and beyond BTS’s friendly or family bonds.

After all, never forget, Jin is a romantic boy. There are very little things Jin wouldn’t do for him, based on what we’ve witnessed on screen.

Jokes aside, Jin is constantly paying attention to Tae, supporting and encouraging him to speak, especially since Tae put in effort to learn and memorize his mini speech.

Rolling paper message from Tae to Jin

This message really got me crumbling to pieces, the sincerity and intimacy to me supersedes Tae’s heartfelt “I like Jin-hyung the most” back in 2018. I know there’s a couple of “I love you”s exchanged between them especially in 2021, but this one has a special place in my heart. On screen, we didn’t see a lot or obvious moments of Jin taking care of Tae during his period of tough time, but his message seals the deal that what we see is only the tip of the iceberg and they take care of each other very deeply. So, for those who thinks that Taejin aren’t close anymore because they don’t behave the way you expect them to in their shows or interviews, think again.

I hesitated to include this piece of information here, but I guess, for some harmless fun, why not? It still amuses me to recall the my twitter timeline when it happened.

On this date, an i-army created a burner account to talk about their sighting of Jin carrying Tannie in a mall. All the tweets were run through a Google translator. According to this person, Jin and Tannie was at an electronics store, and they did not approach him to respect his privacy.

Of course, many did not believe it. And there’s no way to verify this either. I found this funny because this is an extremely random thing to create an account and tweet about. What in the world could have triggered this person to say that they saw Jin and Tannie together instead of say, another member, a man/woman or possibly someone even more scandalous? It all got deleted pretty fast after a mini blow up.

I’ll give the benefit of doubt to this person, that they probably did not have bad intentions and didn’t want to draw much attention. They seem to know stan twitter well enough to create a burner account, run their tweets through Google translate before posting to eliminate chances of being recognized and then deleting after Taejinnies saw it. True or not, it doesn’t matter and doesn’t prove anything. Keep in mind do not take this seriously.

Things to note (that everyone already knows of):

- Tae texted him to ask what is he doing before the vlive started. And “what time are you starting?”

- Jin calls him straight from their chat inbox.

- He continuously lowers the volume of their chat (lol).

- He asks for permission to share the story during his vlive. Tae was probably reluctant because he says “But I really should.”

Thinking Jimin was the culprit, Jin was ready to tell him off (jokingly of course) but the moment Jimin points at Tae, he immediately goes meek and looks away. 😂

In Jin’s mind, Tae can do nothing wrong. You cannot question the parsley Kim Taehyung has sprinkled.

I think the meet and greet part isn’t available on youtube. There was a really sweet part where Tae was at the edge of his seat, saying that he will not allow Jin to doubt his own dancing. “The hyung that I know of dances well, so I will ignore that comment (that Jin said about himself).”

I’m in tears now at how protective he is and is practically ready to fight for his Jin-hyung even if it means fighting Jin himself.

A lot of people think their anniversary is the 23rd and not the 26th because of them posting things on the 23rd and also the 123 theory. Posting later could be a result of a busy schedule. What do you think? And do you think their anniversary is when they officially became a couple?

I do actually subscribe to the theory that 123 is sort of connected to several things...

It's Tae... well actually his birthday 12/30 but more importantly it's

their anniversary on 23rd Jan 1/23

And I think JK usings that number to connect it to time 12.30 when JK posts stuff on or around that day and at the timestamp is stops on a song

JK has an ongoing thing musically about time, finding it, making time and losing time, not having enough of it etc. so it makes sense for time to be important too and the reason he constantly makes these connections to that number.

In recent years, on 26th Jan (actually depending on timings it's sometimes on 25th too, like this week), JK and Tae might post things that tend to be linked to each other in some way. In 2020, it was the GDA awards photo with Pengsoo/and the closeness at the Grammys; In 2021, JK posts a photo with a bed that is identical to the bed Taekook shared in Bon Voyage three; last year, JK posts boxing video with Tae heard in the background; and this year Tae's lives with JK in it/mentioned.

Along the vein of weird TK moments, there was one Grammy 2020 moment that made me ???? During one of their interviews BTS were offered random gifts from some bag. JK picked out a gift for himself, Tae picked out a candle (?) And then JK took Tae's gift right out of his hand, never gave it back, even tucked it in his jacket. Interesting concept of shared property I guess? I only saw it in some Grammy compilations

I kinda remember this. He seems very comfortable, sometimes almost demanding of his distant co-worker. Idk if this comes under ownership/shared property but I find stuff like "What about Jungkookie?" or asking "What about me?" when Tae was talking about buying a car for his dad, interesting. I'd add correcting people (including Tae) when they get details about Tae wrong to this category too.

I mean I am still confused by the fact we do not know who their real life partners are (as a western fan it was so weird for me, although I understand it could be dangerous for a said partners). Or is it BTS that has already outgrown an "idol" image, although I think they were never ones... And that is why I adore them so much.

Hi Anon,

Lol at “ARMYs getting calmer/accepting/not judging”.

I have something to say about your perception of ARMY after spending ~2 years in the fandom but we’ll get to that later. (I’m guessing you’re from Dynamite era, but wouldn’t that make you at least pre-school ARMY by now? How do these terms work?)

I think it’s a bad idea to try to use reactions to Tae’s smoking pics as a gauge for how “ARMYs” behaviors have evolved, because many things about the reveal on Saturday/Sunday/Monday were unique and not comparable to any other previous ‘scandal’ for the boys. My personal opinion is that nothing about ARMYs reaction to those pics was unusual at all - contrary to perhaps popular opinion, the core of the fandom has largely treated BTS members as independent adults who can drink, smoke, fuck, eat/diet within reason, lol.

Here are some things that influenced dominant reactions:

The Grammys: A lot of ARMYs were focused on the Grammys and knew that as this is k-pop, there would be someone who would try to create controversy from any angle. So (1) ARMYs were mostly distracted with the Grammys, (2) they were also prepared to not let anything sour this moment for the boys.

The source: As Tae’s pics were obviously taken by a sassaeng, it was easy to discourage spreading it or giving it much attention on that basis alone.

Tae’s smoking is old news: A lot of people in the fandom have known for a long time that Tae vapes and smokes. It’s been all over Korean forums for years, and on the international side, well…

Both photos showing Tae’s vape pens are from 2019 and the first time I saw a mention of him smoking an actual cigarette was in 2020. So this is something a lot of ARMYs knew but didn’t think was a big deal and either downplayed or ignored.

Solo stans were occupied, but opposing fandoms were not: I’m not sure if you notice, but the people who typically freak out about controversies for BTS members are usually from other fandoms or multis/mantis with overlaps with BTS solo stans. This is something that happened in 2019 with jikook’s 'controversies’ with women (Jimin in the Paris pub and Jungkook casually backhugging a woman). It was Exols, blinks, and a few multis that were moots with Tae akgaes / solo stans that were in GCs that started the hashtags and created all the noise. Also in late 2021 with Tae’s 'controversy’ of visiting a museum where a woman he knows happened to be present, it was jikook akgaes / solo stans and shippers that spread those photos along with hate and sensationalist language. And with Jimin’s 'controversy’, also in late 2021, of another woman who happened to be in LA while the boys were there, this happened literally two weeks after Jimin akgaes had stirred up controversy for Tae (the museum photos), so it was no surprise when ARMYs noticed it was mostly Tae akgaes and taekook shippers spreading the rumors for Jimin. In every case, people from other fandoms and multis were at the center of that mess. The very same thing happened with Tae’s smoking pics, except in this case, solo stans were also largely pre-occupied with the Grammys. They were too busy screenshotting 'locals’ praising their idols and otherwise just drumming up hype. The people who wanted to create a scandal out of those pics were obvious and on Sunday you could search up “Tae smoking” on twitter and see tweets from blinks with 30K likes and everyone from Onces to Stays to Shawols to NCTzens in the quotes hyping it up lmao. It would’ve gained traction if solo stans weren’t also busy, but they were, so by Monday ARMYs had gotten some of the primary accounts suspended.

Now, about solo stans, these are the people who are extremely sensitive to the perception of their preferred idol. These are the people now trying to say the pics are edited, saying that Tae doesn’t and can’t possibly smoke, and otherwise reaching all the way past Timbuktu to preserve his 'pure’ image. A lot of ARMYs, by contrast, were reminding people (from other fandoms who thought there was a scandal here) that Taehyung is a 26 year old man in a country where roughly 40% of men smoke. It’s primarily solos and diet solos who are committed to keeping the 'idol images’ for their faves, though this particular scandal is kinda weird because a lot of idols are known smokers.

One other factor I can’t ignore is the subject: Tae - I’m under no illusions that if it was Jungkook or Jimin caught smoking, it would have been a bigger deal. Taehyung has the most solo stans out of all the members, so this also controls for the sort of negative news that gains traction for him, but also the sort that gains traction for members considered to be his competition by his solos i.e. Jimin and Jungkook.

There are more diet solo stans who are masquerading as ARMYs, than the fandom is willing to admit (to its own detriment) and I think Taehyung in particular has a lot of fans like this. Anyone going 'I hate company stans’ or is a hardcore Taekook shipper, is someone I’d put in that category.

I’d say BTS has been outgrowing their 'idol image’ since 2018 when they started to assert themselves more as artists who cannot be pigeonholed into the k-pop category, and they've also done this in more subtle ways such as how Jimin first got tattoos that were still considered to be taboo, followed by Jungkook who got a full sleeve of tattoos in the following years. Again, it was solo stans and people from other fandoms who tried to make those things a scandal, but the core of the fandom supported BTS members in all these choices. Jin is practically 30 years old, and (because of the pandemic) BTS members spent the longest time they’ve lived apart for the first time in 2020 and 2021 which allowed them time to personally explore all sorts of things (Jimin and Namjoon’s weverse interviews come to mind), and I’m curious to see if we’ll have more individuality in their new album that’s supposed to signify a 'new era’. A lot of older ARMYs are still the core of the fanbase, are growing up with the band as well, and have generally always treated the boys as people who have agency and can make their own choices.

You mentioned BTS dating and how the fandom could respond to that but that’s a whole can of worms that probably deserves its own post. (Cause I’ve seen some major delulus who really think they have a chance with these guys from the most unexpected parts of the fandom).
