Lately there has been an emphasis on the number 7 from both, really there's been 7s everywhere, here's an overview but there are more like it around, all with I'm sure many missed and also sure many listed that were not intentional whatsoever, that's the way it goes around here.. With the LNT mv I was mostly ignoring it was flying 7s and left it at a subtle way to make 28, 4x7, 2 on each shoulder. And for Louis' sweater today I think it's this one and the full print is "1977", but he folded in this way it's clearly just showing the 77, which reminds me of those sweatpants he wore once when rolled up it made "100% PR", while on a pap walk holding hands all that.

So what can it be with all the 7s.. I mean we can make it make sense for this specific case: It's been 7 years since that GMA Interview, it's been 7 years since bbg started, since 1D went on hiatus, since a lot of fucking shit happened. It's been 7 years. I think they are extremely aware of anniversaries of things, and this year its been the 7 year anniversary of such a huge pile of significant whatthefucks that I'm sure they're still processing that I feel like there's some logic there to think these 7s are coming from that angle there. But then why this year, why did they not display a bunch of 6's last year, and a bunch of 5's before that, so then we now turn to that it could be that something that started 7 years ago will come to an end soon winkwink.

But it could also be they found some fucking meaning into the number like they have with 28 and they're just finding comfort in showing it like a badge, as I think they've shown time and time again to be something they do, that that's who they are. I think if all the 7s stop next year, once it's been 8 years since shit happened, then we can look back and be like okay so *vaguely gestures* was significant about it being 7 years later than *vaguely gestures* and maybe even somethings gonna change now that'll result in us going ah yes *vaguely gestures*, but unless they're appearing with the 7s clearly associated with something specific consistently, (and this should go without saying but some recent posts have shown apparently I does not:) I don't think it's really some form of signaling that's meant to be understood by the fans (and this goes for most things they're doing really) but rather something for themselves, again something they find comfort in, a way of coping or just enjoying displaying something publicly that has a private meaning just to them and maybe a select few, especially because it's not really super pointed imo, I feel like if it was some form of coded communication it would be much clearer wtf it's supposed to mean, so instead what we're doing here when asked what it means is just reading into literally a number based on the background knowledge we have about them, in this case I and many others are making it a 7 years thing because yeah I do think it makes sense, but it's literally just a number and you can make it work with anything, like... seven colors of the rainbow bam its gay ur welcome. WANDAVISION EP 7 PREDICTIONS

there are spoilers for ep 1 - 6 in here!! so be warned if you haven't caught up.

i have NOT seen the episode so i'm going to make my predictions now...i have avoided tiktok and twitter for most of the day so i don't mess up my viewing experience

ok so you know how everyone thinks mephisto is the "big baddie" of the season and we are waiting for him to be revealed? well i think that agnes (aka agatha harkness) is supposed to be the "big baddie" and not just a side villain/henchwoman.

this is coming from my 10 seconds on twitter and immediately closing out after seeing trending tags (agatha harkness, wandavision, and kathryn hahn).

reason that people thought that mephisto was the "big baddie" vs agatha? pure and simple - sexism bias. we want to assume a male figure is the "big bad" running the show and everything, but female villains can also exist (this sounds #girlboss government leaders but that's not exactly what i meant).

(the main example of a female "big bad" in the mcu would be hela from thor ragnarok)

and the reasons that agatha are behind this are mostly shown in episodes 4&5 - remember

she doesn't have a valid ID like norm, vision's boss, and the boss's wife does

vision snapping norm back to reality ("she's behind this", "make her stop", stuff like that wasn't actually about wanda)

she was there when the twins were aging up from newborns to 5 yrs to 10 yrs. when she had their dead dog, the boys wanted to age up, but wanda convinced them not to, which probably put a snag in her plan

my additional hypothesis is that since she was mad about that, she brought in the xmen maximoff to throw wanda off - her dead brother, back to life? and it's not even the right version! additionally "pietro" could either be some random henchman posing as the brother, or xmen maximoff - peter.

the halloween episode brought a lot of stress to vision and wanda. the "modern family" episode featurette from GMA showed wanda taking a "staycation". i saw a tiktok theorize that agnes might come and babysit the kids.

of course their video game glitching might be for some other reason, but whatever agnes has planned will purposefully age the boys up (there was an actor credited for 15 yr old billy i think). she wants them older (idk how much), and she will keep throwing wanda off her game until she gets what she wants.

TL;DR - agnes was the "big baddie" we were waiting for, and the signs were always there - the reason that we assumed mephisto was is due to our internalized gender bias (sexism).

When God Closes A Door, He Opens A Window

I know many of us have been challenged greatly by the pandemic - with some losing their jobs that resulted to despair. Still, I believe God has a plan for all of us. We cannot ignore the stories of people who rose above the ashes and lived renewed lives with an even more vibrant faith. Suffering deepens our understanding of God's will for us.

For Real

Try to make an honest assessment of the kind of person you were before you went through a serious test. If you really surrendered your will to God and died to yourself during the test, I am sure you emerged from it victorious and even more mature. Suffering heightens our senses to the real world and it makes us see that only God has the final say on everything. We can pull some strings here and there but if it is not God's will, things will go haywire.

How to get your life back after you were laid off from work because of the pandemic

All around us, we hear stories of people who were laid off during the pandemic who quickly shifted to new careers that became even more financially rewarding than their original jobs.

Such stories cannot be ignored because they are testaments to that familiar line: "When God closes a door, He opens a window."

What are you hoping for? Is there a door in your life that slammed shut recently?

Perhaps God is redirecting your path to a new one.

A path that is meant for you in this new season of life.

A path that matches your strengths, your skills, and your maturity in this new season.

To be honest, we ought to be glad that God unveiled a new season for us to start over again and to apply the lessons from the previous season.

CHRONICLE: HOW DO I STRUGGLE TO BECOME MSUan

First of all, I am proud to say that I finished my high school in a school where you would never expect to pass the SASE (MSU's entrance exam/to avail scholarship when you get a highest score). I am not underestimating our school but actually this is the truth. It is not as good as other schools in the province of lanao del sur. But again, I am truly proud that I had finish my secondary here. And most of my siblings finished their secondary also in this school.

So when I graduated from elementary, I was given by my parents a choice whether to enroll in one of the schools in Marawi or they will just buy me a bicycle and study instead in my hometown Mulondo. Since I'm an obedient son, I choose a school where they cannot spend too much money. I decided to enroll in Mulondo National High School. They actually offered me to study in Dansalan College for my high school but then they have given me a choice also of studying in inged (hometown). In my entire high school days, I really study hard so that my parents would be proud. From first to third year high school, I was the first honor and the class valedictorian in my fourth year.

During my last year in high school, I really aimed to study in Mindanao State University as it is known as one of the best schools in Mindanao. This is also the cheapest school as well. I studied very hard to get a good score in SASE. Fortunately, yes fortunately because most of our batch got a below 50 scores. But fortunately I got 55, a good sign that I can study in MSU since 50 was the cut of score for College Bound Program that time.

During my graduation in high school, not to brag, but I received a various academic, and non-academic awards as well. I was the class valedictorian, best in english, scientist of the year, among others. I also awarded with leadership awards from President GMA and gold medals from senators such as Francis Pangilinan and Franklin Drilon.

Right after graduation, I enrolled in CBP together with my batch but unfortunately he was only allowed to enroll in technology, a 2-year course program. As far as I remember, we were only two I think who studied in MSU in our batch. It was batch Dodie who enrolled in Technology Program. Being MSUan is an honor and privilege. Not all students from all over lanao are given a chance to study here. But to me, I was so thankful when I was able to enroll for CBP knowing that my score is so low. 55 is not a bad score that time, still I can say I am proud of.

My CBP days were also fun, I was able to met students coming from different places. Most of our section are from ILS. As we go along, I tried my best to attend every day classes. I did all my best to be able to pass such CBP and be allowed to enroll in any 4-year course program of the school. Alhamdulillah. Fortunately again, I passed the CBP. I got a score of 70. That time, the cut of for 4-year course for CBP was 65. And Alhamdulillah, I'm lucky that I got enough score. Some of my classmates didn't make it. They didn't reach the cut of score. But MSU is giving a big chance to those who are deserving to study in MSU. Those who didn't pass the cut of score were also allowed to enroll for CPC, another six months preparatory course for college. Its like the CBP but differ only on the duration of classes, the CBP is only for two months whereas CPC is for six months.

Fast forward, I tried to enroll in the Nursing department because I dream of becoming a doctor of medicine someday but due to the high standard, I was not able to get in. I was frustrated when I knew that I couldn't enroll for my desire course. I don't have any choice but to find another course that suits me. I went to biology department, tried to inquire. Unfortunately I was not accepted too due to my lowest grades in science subjects during my high school. I was very frustrated, then I thought of enrolling in any course and planned to shift another course after a semester. Tried also in Political Science department but they also have a high standard in accepting freshman.

While I was walking on the covered walk going to comcent, I bumped into my batch in CBP and told me "Malin, miyaka-enroll ka? If hindi, try mo sa International Relations department, kasi roo kami ko mga ped ta sa CBP." I told myself to enroll in this department because I'm already exhausted going around every department asking if I reach their requirements. So, it went very smooth and fast when I enrolled in International Relations, no entrance exams. It was Sir Ayo who assisted me in my enrollment. He immediately accepted me. I don't know, may be because its already past 5 in the afternoon. Other enrollees of such department were required to take the qualifying exams. I have asked some of them. Accordingly, they were required to enumerate countries in Asia, Europe, America, etc. and to identify the capital city of every given country. Alhamdulillah. I got accepted immediately without such qualifying exam.

From then on, I choose to stay at the International Relations department rather than transfer or shift to another course. Some of my subjects would not be credited if I shifted to other program or course. I have loved my department when we got to our junior year. I thought of shifting during my sophomore year to education but then I got hesitant because of its effect to the subjects that I have finished. I feel like the 9-unit subjects that I finished would be useless if I shifted. Alhamdulillah. I'm not extended, I was able to graduate on time, after 4-year to be exact.

Throughout my college days, I studied very hard because I'm a bit nervous that I might get extended in MSU. Get extended meant to graduate after 5-7 years in college. Some really extended in MSU. I knew some who graduated after 7-8 years. But Alhamdulillah I was never extended. I graduated on time. I have thought to shift in other that time to other course/department but I felt lazy asking/pleasing other department to accept me. By the way, I enjoyed being an International Relations major. We were able to spent our internship in Department of Foreign Affairs-Main office. We had a chance to tour in different government agencies in Manila. Malacanang Museum and Library and different embassies to name some.

Miranda was drunk. Absolutely, out of her mind drunk. The bar around her seemed to move as if it was under water, and she begins wondering why she thought that many shots was a good idea.

“Ma’am?” an odd accent called her out her drunken daze and she’s faced with a rather good looking, oddly familiar man.

“Mhhphg?” she responds eloquently.

“Have you seen my mate Richard here anywhere? Richard Madden?” He asks. “I know you were filming the Jimmy Fallon Show with him tonight, with your band.” At this Miranda’s look of drunken confusion shifts.

“Yes! I saw him earlier with my friend, my bandmate Y/N,” she slurred at the pretty man with the funny accent. “Wait.” Her eyebrows pulled together. “Is your name Aaron by any chance?”

The pretty man laughs.

“No actually, but close.” He has a nice smile, Miranda thinks.

“T-Taron? Is that it? I know you from those strange movies with all the British men in suits.”

The pretty man laughs harder at this, leaning into her slightly as he does. She’s seated on a high chair in the “VIP” section of the bar, him leaning against the table only a few inches away from her wearing some coat that just looks so ridiculously soft.

“You have a nice laugh,” she sighs, unable to help herself.

“You have a gorgeous smile, love.” he beams at her compliment. She’s far too drunk to know what she’s saying but it doesn’t distract from how stunning she was. Taron can’t help but find he’s quite flattered with her openly flirting with him. “But I really need to find my mate, Richard. The last I talked to him he sounded a bit drunk, I don’t want him getting himself into any trouble.”

“I’m pretty sure it’s been like an hour...I dunno maybe not I don’t understand time right now..” Miranda trailed off drunkenly, head falling in her hands.

“Oh god Miranda, not again,” came the voice of a tall brunette appearing behind Taron. She cradles her face in her hands, Miranda just smiling up at her goofily.

“I assume you’re here looking for Richard?” The brunette chirped, looking at Taron. “I’m Victoria, Miranda and y/n’s bandmate and caretaker, it seems.” She grins shaking his hand.

“I’m Taron, Taron Egerton.” He smiles.

“Miranda!” Miranda happily cheers her own name causing Taron to grin and Victoria to groan.

“Oh God, okay um the last I saw was Richard leaving with Y/N about 45 minutes ago or so? You can follow me if you want to check in and make sure he made it somewhere safe,” Victoria smiles at Taron before attempting to lift Miranda’s limp and giggling form from her chair.

“I can get her if you want,” Taron offered. Victoria eyed him somewhat warily before shrugging, deciding he probably wasn’t a threat.

“Sure, that would be a huge help actually,” she sighed, grabbing her and Miranda’s purses before clearing a path to the outside. Taron reaches for Miranda and she launches to her feet, clinging to his side with a lazy smile, hiccuping the whole way to the door.

By the time they reach the apartment, Miranda is completely out, her tiny frame cradled in Taron’s arms. Taron doesn’t seem to mind.

He follows Victoria to her bedroom and lays her down, smiling at her peaceful slumber.

“Thank you so much for all your help with her, Taron,” Victoria smiles and then grimaces. “And again, I’m really sorry about her very loud rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody on the way back. I swear she’s not usually this obnoxious.” Taron just shakes his head and chuckles.

“Really don’t worry about it, even drunk she’s a right cutie,” his eyes move back to Miranda’s form.

“I could give you her number if you’d like?” Victoria trailed off with a hopeful smile. She loved playing matchmaker.

“Actually, yeah, I would love that,” Taron finds himself beaming at the prospect of seeing Miranda again—hopefully sober the next time.

After adding her contact into his phone Victoria and Taron creep over to Y/N’s room.

“So you three are 22 year old multi millionaires who choose to live together?” He whispered to her.

“Yeah, we’re like sisters. None of us like being away from each other for too long.” Victoria smiles inwardly at the thought. The bond between the three women was strong.

As they open a crack into y/n’s door, they do their best to be discreet and not chuckle or die at the sight before them.

Both Y/N and Richard are clearly very naked and very comfortable with one another under the thin white sheets of y/n’s bed. He’s asleep on her chest, his arms tightly wound around her little waist. Her hands are in his hair and both of them have hints of bliss on their faces. At least someone had a good night, Taron scoffs at the sight.

The next morning is an early one for our friend, Richard. He awakes to his phone ringing obnoxiously, hurrying to click his power before it wakes the sleeping form beneath him.

It’s 7 am. Christ. 4 missed calls.

Richard is alarmed to see his agent had been blowing up his phone before he remembered his GMA interview. Good god he was going to get it for this one. As quickly as he can, he unravels himself from the beauty beneath him, her naked form giving him flashbacks of the night before. As he slips his discarded clothing back on he feels a grin fighting it’s way onto his lips as he looks at y/n’s peaceful state.

He felt like he was already practically in love with her. Completely enamored by and taken with every little scrunch of her nose, the rise and the fall of her breathing. He almost can’t leave, the longer he looks at her the more his legs seem to grow imaginary roots that hold him hostage in her bedroom. He reconciles to leave her a note—on the wall calendar to the right of the bed.

“Had to go to do a GMA interview at 9:00 am. I would like to discuss with you some things about last night, my number is xxx xxx xxxx. Richard.”

He wanted to know if the night they’d spent together meant as much to her as it did to him. Maybe he was idealizing her and setting himself up for heartbreak but he was willing to take that risk—even if it only meant seeing her again.

eight months later

Y/N was completely zoned in. Her ADHD meds had kicked in and she was finally finishing up her packing for this god forsaken trip—her first vacation in what felt like decades.

It had been 8 months of songwriting, performing, and distracting herself from the little ache in her heart. Y/N had even taken up going to the gym. And working out. On purpose.

As she threw her last few things into the bag, hips swaying to the beat of John Lennon’s raspy vocals on Yer Blues, she found herself in one of those brief little moments where she almost enjoyed being sad. Yes, life was all peaches and cream for a woman as wealthy and successful as Y/N, but like every human, she liked to revel in her pain from time to time—even if she’s the cause of it. Moment’s like these disgusted her, so she usually crammed the feeling down.

Y/N had read Richard’s note the next morning with shaky legs and blurry vision. She knew what things he wanted to discuss.

The blood on the sheets. The stain of your lies.

He had to have figured it out. He had to have noticed she didn’t feel quite right. Y/N had really done it this time—she’d given her virginity to a man she hardly knew. And without telling him.

She had been so caught up in the blue of Richard’s eyes and his elderberry wine stained lips that she’d not thought of what she was doing before it was too late. She violated his trust by withholding that information and she was so embarrassed she swore she could never face him again. Could never call him. Could never think about him for longer than a few minutes unless she was joking around with the girls about how dumb she was for thinking it meant anything to him.

She tried very hard to find the humor in the situation but it never really worked. The laughter never really masked the sting of his name. She didn’t want Miranda or Victoria to worry about her so she nursed her wounds in private and stopped mentioning that night altogether after the 3rd month.

Now 8 months later, sometimes she could stand in her room without her mind immediately going back to that night. It had taken her a long time to rid herself of the lingering sexual frustration. She had to get rid of his note to keep herself from calling him desperately in the middle of the night.

“Hey Y/N, darling, you almost ready?” Came a pretty welsh accent from the hall. Taron popped his head into her door, a goofy and excited grin on his face.

“Yep, whenever you guys are!” She chirped back cheerfully. And for the first time in a long time, it was genuine. It wasn’t easy watching Miranda and Taron fall in love while she was trying to squash her feelings for a Richard. It was quite painful, honestly.

But y/n never said anything. Of course she didn’t. Y/N wouldn’t rain on Miranda’s parade just because of how she’d ruined whatever was between her and Richard by lying to him.

“You guys,” came a loud wailing noise from further up the hallway. “Will just found out he can’t come, he got asked to stay another week even though the show’s already opened.” Victoria looked distraught as she explained her fiance, a broadway choreographer, couldn’t join their beach trip.

“Oh no, I’m so sorry Vic,” Y/N smiled sympathetically and embraced her distraught bandmate. “At least now we have room for Taron to invite a friend.”

“Really? Y/N are you sure?” Taron tried to mask his excitement. “It is your birthday trip after all.”

Y/n smiled and waved him off with a warm assurance that she didn’t really care. She’d have all the company she’d need with Miranda, Vic, and the many of their other friends who would be meeting them there to celebrate.

“Hey! What are you up to this week, mate?” Taron chieoed excitedly over the phone. His grin growing mischievous when the voice on the other end responded with a “nothing.”

Taron couldn’t help himself. “How would you feel about a week trip to Cancun?”

“What am I supposed to do? Say no?” Richard chuckled on the other end, he really needed a vacation now that he thought about it. “I’ll hop on the next flight out. What’s the occasion?”

“Ah, just a birthday party. Nothing major, mate.”

Kind of short and crappy but I promise the next chapter will make up for it tenfold. So much planned. *chaotic laughter*

Kaylor: The hidden true timeline

Sometimes reality exceeds our expectations, and oftentimes we are not aware that such reality exists. Until we take a deeper look.

I recently finished reading a (controversial) fanfic by a certain writer (If you’re an old Kaylor you know which fanfic, if you’re new, it’s called “Kaylor: The timeline”) and what stood out for me the most about that fanfic is that it is incredibly accurate in the way it tells the story, a story that is well thought of, it has a chronological coherence and character construction that is very difficult to surpass. The amazing thing about it is not the story in itself, but rather the level of insight it gives about the characters, behavior analysis, recognition of complex emotions and its roots in the characters, as well as a constant foreshadowing of the aesthetics of the coming era (reputation era). I think that because of this complexity and the level of details included, both Karlie and Taylor wrote it. How did I arrive to that conclusion (that many of you older Kaylors also suspect to be true)? -I'll be focusing only on the authorship of the fanfic, if you want me to analyze the story, leave a comment!-

Well, let’s see. The fanfic has an element of entertainment to it (no, that’s not my strongest argument, but hold on), it’s as if the writer knew which parts of the story to highlight in order for the readers to be engaged with the story from the beginning. But it doesn’t JUST take a good story for a book to be read (or in this case, a Wattpad book), you need to have the right characters in your story for people to feel identified with and represented by them. In essence, the story needs to make sense, needs to remain just a story (that means having the right amount of fantasy and the right amount of truth so that it still feels real), it needs to have complex yet relatable characters that appeal to the essential parts of human nature, and a relatively simple vocabulary (unless your expected audience is very educated) along with descriptive (visual) language, because the public has to imagine the situations the characters are going through, as well as their very environment. Also, your use of your chosen lexicon has to convey all the meaning of your story in its simplicity. I don’t know about you, but these requirements feel like the abilities of a very advanced writer, and not one that just posts random stories that they created in their head after reading a tabloid in the line of the supermarket.

Anyway, as seen above, our “fanfic” writer claims to have never had any experience at personal writing before this fanfic, which is very suspicious, given the amount of reads that this fanfic has (1.7 Million at the moment of writing this post) as well as the good reviews and people commenting on Wattpad how that is their 4th or 5th time reading the entire fanfic all over again, meaning that for the reads to be this high, the writing has to be at least really good.

I cut the screenshot here, but if you go to the first chapter of the fanfic you’ll see more people commenting similar things.

Now, with regards to the foreshadowing I talked about earlier, the fanfic was written in early 2016, and the reputation era began in late 2017, plus we know Taylor plans her tours and eras one year ahead, therefore she needed to plan the reputation era and tour one year ahead (see section Event promoters), despite her saying in a GMA interview from Lover era that she only plans 6 months in advance (which is just impossible due to recording dates, negotiations, hiring booking agents for the countries she will perform in, meetings to discuss marketing strategies, aesthetics of every era, etc…), therefore by 2016 she had at least some idea of how the 6th era was going to look like. This fanfic weirdly coincides with the aesthetics of reputation long before reputation was released. Hmmm…

Our writer turns out to be a she.

But before I go into really heavy stalking further detail, read this disclaimer: I am no behavioral analysis expert, I do not possess any type of psychology major or minor, I’m not even doing an undergraduate course of psychology, this is me applying all the books I’ve read about human psychology as it is my hobby. I’m a Computer Science student. Having said that, let’s dive right in!

Now, this is what I observed when looking through KaylorFanfiction’s profile:

1. The writer doesn’t share, reblog, post pictures frequently or makes her personal opinion known in topics outside the fanfic(s) or writing in general. (I observed this after spending a significant amount of time scrolling down her blog and just noticing her behavioral patterns).

2. Assertive (short answers to asks on Tumblr).

3. Usually writes in caps to highlight important things (just like Taylor), words or phrases might be uppercase.

If you’re wondering about the numbers, they are questions.

Okay, let’s see Taylor now:

I say was because, although we have pictures of Karlie on her first day of school at NYU, it isn’t completely believable due to a lack of attendance later on if you google “Karlie Kloss attending NYU”, therefore my conclusion is that her proximity to a college environment comes actually from her brother, who truly attended Notre Dame University. An interesting observation that may back my induction is that if you go to KaylorFanfiction’s profile you’ll find that when she talks about college she never specifies which one she’s attending, for that same reason, if it was true that Karlie attended, then she would have no other choice than to be proud of her wife girlfriend through her secret alternative account for her achievements (I mean, it’s NYU, who wouldn’t be proud?). Taylor The writer might have wanted to tell the narrative of a broke college student (the exact opposite of what Taylor is) to go unnoticed on social media, but the quality of the story and the richness of it made it unbelievable that the story came from an inexperienced writer (more on that later on).

In other words, this account was Taylor’s escape bubble where she could talk freely and give her opinions without dealing with the consequences. I was afraid I could be breaking that bubble with this post, but considering that she said she no longer uses the account, I figure that It was safe for me to post this.

Interesting, given that she never had written something personal before (personal as in of her own making, not as in the fanfic is her life), that makes me question what did she write about before this fanfic? Journalism? But she is obsessed with music, she told us that herself. Could that original content possibly be… songs?

So far we know she is obsessed with music, she discovered she liked to write novels (I’d rather say books) through writing this fanfic, even though she doesn’t read fanfic at all, wonder where she got the inspiration and experience to make it the most read fanfic of that topic on Wattpad if she also never did anything personal, which makes me now believe that by personal she meant her life, because there is no way you can never have done anything of your own creation while having original work. Therefore, the original work she refers to, are songs (as detailed above when saying she wanted to do something with songs). She could have meant anything by saying she wanted to do something with songs, but so far, these are many many coincidences pointing to Taylor the authorship of a particular individual, and as BBC’s Sherlock said: “The universe is rarely so lazy”.

Interesting…the author is not into speculating, yet she wrote an entire fanfic on a relationship she claims is not real to her. Basically, she ignored the definition of “speculation”.

Thus, if we wanted to make sense of the reasons for her particular fanfic creation writing taking into account that she doesn’t like speculating and that this is just a creative outlet, we would have to assume that what she writes in her story is based on an objective truth, her speech again (not liking speculation) is contradicted by the mere fact that Wattpad is for aspiring writers looking to share their work with the world (usually a fictitious work). So, if our writer doesn’t like speculation, yet creates a “fictional” story on a site dedicated to that purpose, she’s either lying about not liking speculation or she’s hiding the truth in a platform dominated by fiction in the hopes no one will see (through) it. Okay, maybe she’s lying about not liking speculation (after all, people lie all the time), but given the continuous similarities of our writer’s personality with Taylor’s, and the fact that in the universe everything is interconnected, this can’t be a coincidence. But why would Taylor go to such lengths to tell mostly the truth? Well, given Taylor’s character and the way she rose to fame (through what she called “Opening up her diaries for the world to see”) there is an inherent need in her for self-expression, but she can’t express herself freely all the time (remember the behind-the-scenes interview where she’s filming Lover video and she says her life is like a fishbowl) because her career is image-based, and one picture will outspeak any word or explanation she might have. Thus, she might have to go to these or more lengths to truly express herself and her beliefs in order to keep her mental health and creativity flowing.

GMA/POP UP/VMAS

So, I needed a few days to process and nap but I am ready to share my experience! :) 

Last Thursday I arrived at Central Park at 4:30 am! We had VIP tickets which meant we got to go into the venue before General Admission. We walked into the Summer Stage and I thought I was going to pass out!! It was BEAUTIFUL! Her entire set was all pink flowers and absolutely perfect! We got shuffled in and luckily ended up with a spot right up front! Between 7/730 sound check began. Some singers just let their band and back up singers come out and do it and wait until they are ready for the live show to come out. Nope, not Taylor. She came out and gave us the entire show before the actual show. She was so personable and friendly to the crowd as usual. She was in and out constantly do speak on camera even when they were not doing sound check and she always made sure to acknowledge the fans that stood outside all night for this! Sooo sweet! As all of you saw, her performance/interview was so great! I also MET AND GOT A PHOTO WITH TODRICK! He was sooo sweet! 

Sunday afternoon I went to the Pop up shop. Luckily I have a Capital One Credit Card! There were two lines, one for general admission and of course she had a special line for C.O members. We all got to take a photo on the couch that she was on for the YouTube Live stream last week! Everrrrrrrything was pink! The whole entire shop was decorated beautifully. It really amazes me how much thought and effort goes into everything she does. She must not sleep :-P I ended up buying the Benjamin black hoodie and a tee shirt! Very excited about my purchases! :) Also I may add the guy that helped me in the store was absolutely adorable, helpful, and kind! Great staff.

Monday- THE VMAs! What a cool experience. Living in NYC I go to a lot of shows. I have been to so many talk shows, movie premiers, concerts, etc. The VMAs were no joke. The amount of production and employees running the show was so incredible to see! I have watched them on TV my entire life but it really felt like a dream to be there! I had pit tickets and I was front row. Literally touching the performance stage. All the performances were amazing but I am telling you, when Taylor walked out the entire crowd was going insane. SHE LOOKED AMAZING and the fact that she sang “Lover” goes to show you how much she loves her fans. She KNEW we needed to hear it live.

100 things Jimin has said or done that has made me believe he’s an angel roaming and existing on earth

Jimin got worried over the fact that dogs only see two colors

Jimin broke apart dog snacks so the dog named Miri could eat them safely

In his birthday vlive when a fan commented saying as long as Jimins happy I’m happy, jimin said no I’m happy only when you’re happy

In one run episode where the game was about keeping your balloon jimin accidentally popped Jins ballon, later on when Jimin had lost his ballon he found another one which he then decided to give it to Jin because he popped his previous one

At the LY tour Jimin stopped singing for a moment to check on a fan who had passed out, he crouched down and watched on as people helped the person and didn’t budge until he got a signal that the fan was for sure doing alright

At GMA a little girl got to meet bts, she started to cry when meeting them. Jimin went immediately to comfort her, he hugged her, he caressed her head he even carried her across the stage because she wouldn’t let go of him

When asked in an interview who the best dancer Jimin did a whole show, jumping out of his seat, getting down on his knees and pointing at Hoseok, having Hoseok smiling and laughing at him

The owner of the calico cat (Curry) that was in the serendipity video said that before shooting the video Jimin wanted to get closer to Curry so that Curry wouldn’t feel nervous during the shootings

One of the staff members even mentioned that Curry might scratch him but jimin said that it’s okay even if she scratches him

Jimin heard if you kissed stingrays they will grant u luck so he kissed a stingray multiple times to grant enough luck for all of us

At the soribada awards one of camera men accidentally bumped into Jimin  even though Jimin was in the middle of perfoming, he stopped up for a second and  made sure the camera man who bumped into him was doing okay

Jimin once said said because Jungkook’s room is close to Jimin’s and because Jimin is the type to go to bed very late he tends to walks past Jungkook’s room to make sure he’s washed up before bed or turned his light off for him if he’s fallen asleep and forgot to do it

In a run epsiode where bts were to make kimchi, after struggling with making it Jimin commented on how he didn’t realize how much work was put into it and how from now on he’ll buy his mom kimchi instead of having her make it

Behind the scenes of the idol mv Jimin found a bug that was missing its leg he told it its a dangers place for it to be here and put it to the side so it wouldn’t get crushed 

In a vlive Jimin said how Hoseok told Jimin he could play games at night if wanted to because as mentioned earlier Jimin tends to go to bed late because he can’t fall asleep for some reason and he tends to get bored of just being on his phone but Jimin said he doesn’t want to do it he doesn’t want the sounds to wake him up especially if the day’s been rough and Hoseok has made effort to go to bed in time

Jimin believes aliens exist and said that even though it wouldn’t do much for him if they existed the thought just makes him happy for some reason

Jimin always makes sure to go to each member’s solo project schedules no matter how early or how late the hours are to support them

During a run game where they were supposed to pick clothes for a member Jimin made sure to choose two pair of outfits one for a smaller frame one for a bigger frame (as well as a third one as a special)

During the promotion week of the Answer album Jimin got barely any sleep to the point where people could hear members encouraging Jimin to fight on before a performance yet you can’t see in the performances if he was tired or not because he always gave every performance his all

Whenever a member gets a punishment in run bts Jimin is more likely than not the person to offer himself to go with them: example he offered himself to go with Namjoon to climb a mountain when he seemed apprehensive about it, 

he offered to even go with Jin in run bts when Jin said he’ll walk his way to the house they were staying in if it meant the rest got a treat

In the same run episode Jimin noticed Jin was getting tired of walking up the hill so he gave him a piggy back ride although jimin obviously got tired from it,  when Jin asked him if he was tired he denied it

Not only that but in that same run episode Jimin had tried multiple times to play games to win drinks for bts

He even offered himself in the same run episode to peal Yoongi’s egg who said he really liked the egg but it was hard to peal it

In another run episode Jin joking said I’m upset because he was losing a game jimin heared him and asked him are up upset hyung, even gave him a finger heart to make him smile

At a recent performance Jimin saw Jin standing off to the side quietly so he quickly went to him and spread his arms out to hug him

Jimin said that the reason as to why he started to take Polaroid picture is because he wanted to save moments and memories with the members when there weren’t cameras around

When they first started out and struggled with money Jimin still got Hoseok a pair of very good shoes and it’s still a present Hoseok cherishes and keeps today

He also got Jungkook a bag so he wouldn’t have to carry around such a heavy one as his previous one was he even got Namjoon clothes because it seemed to be his style

K media even pointed out how Jimin is always giving thoughtful birthday presents to members and putting their tastes into consideration (like a bag for Jungkook, cardigan for Namjoon, hoodie for Jin etc) They also pointed out how Jimin was always the one who is holding a cake on their bday videos

In Taehyung’s birthday bangtan bomb when eating Taehyung’s cake JImin knew that Hoseok doesn’t like sour flavors and since the cake had sour toppings on it Jimin seemed concerned about whether he’d be able to eat it. Hoseok looked really touched at the comment but said it’ll be okay but Jimin still told him which one’s he should eat to avoide the sour flavors

In a Bangtan bomb Jimin checked up on everyone and went to each members bed and wished them a good night, he even stroked Jungkook’s hair lovingly while wishing him a good night softly  

Because Jungkook recently injured himself he wasn’t able to dance along with the rest during the performances, at one point while they were performing Jungkook got so upset he started crying, Jimin who was all the way across the opposite side of the stage stopped performing and ran to Jungkook to comfort him

Jimin also said the same day in regards of Jungkook’s injury  “ I know you all are worried about Jungkook, but if Jungkook goes home like this today, all he'll do is cry. on three, everyone say I LOVE YOU JUNGKOOK”

Jimin stayed by Jungkook’s side during the concert where he was injured comforting and cheering him up for more than a minute and leaving only when Taehyung came to make him company

Jimin stood with Jungkook when he was injured, he sang for him and with him, he made him laugh and smile he held onto him while he was crying with the most endearing look on his face to exist

In a bon voyage episode Jimin and Namjoon had to walk uphill Jimin made a comment on how he felt bad for the staff because they had to carry heavy equipment  up with them

In a bon voyage epsiode Jimin said that as a child he wanted to be a pirate and he promised his mom he’d be the number one swordsman in the world, he didn’t know pirates were bad back then and felt embarassed confessing it

Jimin once took pictures of graffit art that said things like fuck you and literally went and changed it so it would say i love you he even went and cropped out an inappropriate  part of another graffiti picture

When Jimmy Fallon fell down to the floor from laughing Jimin quickly made sure he was’t hurt and asked him how he was doing (albeit such a simple thing I found it endearing he’d do this when this is one of his most common habits) 

In one run epsiode even though Jimin solved most of the puzzles for his team at the end of it he said teamwork is the most important thing and gave his team all the creds for it

In a run episode where they were to make and drink coffee Jimin knew Taehyung doesnt drink coffee and he made sure that everyone knew about it. he even asked the instructor if Tae could make a hot chocolate instead

During an episode of Bon voyage Jin was too busy cooking  food to eat  Jimin quickly called him over when he noticed it and told him to have some even made sure to feed him some pieces before it was all eaten

In a episode of bv where Taehyung had yet to arrive there, when someone said something about how this was  a friendship trip Jimin got upset and  asked how is this a friendship trip if Taehyung is missing he said Taehyung has to be here for it to be a friendship trip

When Jin and Jimin were ordering sandwhiches Jin ordered first 7 until he remembered they were 6 and you could clearly see Jimin got upset over the fact that Taehyung wasn’t here he even graoned and said come on Taehyung

Because Yoongi had a private emergency while they were filming bv he had to leave. Hours after Yoongi left bts were back home playing their own songs, when Yoongi’s part came on Jimin quickly went out his room and said Yoongi hyung i miss you 

When Taehyung asked what the biggest room is in the bon voyage house they were staying in Jimin got too excited and quickly told him which room is the biggest  even though the rest of the members agreed to not tell him got really embarrassed and made the cutest face to exist

Jimin didn’t take any sides in tae and jins fight that happened in burn the stage instead he showed them both what they did wrong and adviced them how to go from there 

Later on, before their concert, Jimin noticed  that Taehyung was visibly still upset over the fight before so he went up hugged him and even gave him a pep talk

In burn the stage when Jin and Taehyung were fighting everyone left them to talk in private but Jimin stayed although hidden in the back and out of view for them, once they were done he walked out and offered to get food togeher he even microwaved the food for them

when Jungkook neeeded paramedic assistance Jimin stood to the side and let them do their job but he wouldn’t leave until he knew Jungkook was doing better

Jimin kept talking about how he was thankful they choose to go to Malta for Bon Voyage after he had seen how pretty the moon looked there

In one epsiode Jimin even kept talking excitedly about how he spent a whole afternoon just talking with the cats in the area of Malta

During Buzzfeed’s puppy interview they got a puppy who was quiet shy and timid Jimin soon took him in his arms he played with him for most the interview and gave him kisses and cuddles when he put him down to go to other members the puppy wouldn’t budge and went back to his arms even when the interview was ending and he was putting him down the puppy went back to his arms

Even though Jimin first said in the summer package that when he first heard they were going to see stingrays he was kind of scared but  he still felt he wanted to pet them and kiss them and he found it endearing how sweet they were being when you tickled them

Jimin said whenever he does a vlive he feels like he has to prepare himself before doing it and that’s why he takes so long to come on there and apologaized for it

In an episode of run bts Taehyung got  sad after hitting the ball in the wrong direction when playing badminton, he started to walk away. jimin saw it and quickly called him and held his hand to comforting him 

Someone once called jimin perfect on vlive he genuinely looked confused and asked perfect? how?

whenever jimin falls on stage he’s quick to brush it off and move on from it but whenever someone else falls on stage like tae did for example in the recent concert he wouldn’t take his eyes from him until he was assured Taehyung was doing okay

In a vlive Jimin did with Jin, when saying goodnight he made sure to say goodnight to fans in as many different time zones as possible

When arriving at the Billboard music awards, while the rest were in awe of all the fans that were waiting outside for them, and even the signs that were there for them, Jimin was concered over the fact that they were out waiting in the heat and how it must’ve been like waiting

Jimin also once went to apologaize to all fans who were waiting outside for them to perform, he said it must be hard for them and that they should’ve hurried to get ready and perfom faster, he felt bad and felt like he keeps having fans wait for them

What a difference a day makes

4 score & 30 weeks ago (ok, just 30 weeks - Aug 31, 2018), M was implanted with Nexplanon (birth control implant). She'd gone to the doctor a couple of weeks previously, got a pregnancy test, and all was golden - negative. Implant was implanted.

Fast-forward 30 weeks & M is coming home for an impromptu visit to my house from her Gma's (she's remained sober since her one-night slip in late November & before that, hasn't used since May). On the hour & a half drive home, she talked about this strange gas that she'd had for a while. A lot of movement, but not actually toots. Frequent heartburn. Weird poop. A LOT of weight gain. I asked if there was ANY chance of her being pregnant. Nope! She'd had the implant since August, she DID have it removed in Jan 2019 because she thought it was affecting her moods a great deal. But the last sex she'd had was Nov... With D, the ex. Ok cool! She was covered.

She came to visit on a Friday. We spent a wonderful weekend together! We left my house Sunday to head back to her Grandma's & 5 minutes into our mini-roadtrip, she says that maybe we should buy a pregnancy test just to rule it out. We made a beeline to CVS, bought the test, & she took the test in the CVS bathroom. The first test was measured by a blue line (neg) vs a blue cross (pos) test. It came out with a cross (positive) BUT the horizontal line was grey, while the vertical line was blue. I was strongly optimistic that it was negative, but she was not.

I immediately bought another test. This one had 2 tests in it, both using the words "pregnant" vs "not pregnant". No question there.

We decided that she could not face her VERY judgmental grandma without knowing for sure, so we headed back to my house, her gulping down lots of water. She tried to pee on the next stick, only got a trickle & got an error. Probably not enough pee... It had only been 10 min since her last test.

She finished a 20 oz bottle of Bai plus more water. 20 min later she tried again. "Pregnant". She was completely freaked!

We talked for hours. She got her shift covered for work that night. I called out for work for the next day. We texted her grandma & let her know we would come the next day. We did math, counted weeks (we estimated 16) & months trying to figure out when she got pregnant and determined she was the 1% of people that get pregnant on Nexplanon. We determined she got pregnant sometime in November, googled how far along she was, how big the baby was, realized she was already around 4 months in, & freaked out about how little time she had left. Our heads we're spinning.

She already knew she was planning to go back to her old sober house. She'd made plans & the ball was rolling. But she wasn't sure how the pregnancy would affect that. She was also supposed to start a certified nurses assistant training class on the upcoming Tuesday after our weekend visit, which was supposed to help her find better work in her original sober community. A topic she was already struggling to tell her Gma about. Lastly, she was working at a restaurant in a city near her Grandma's, had gotten coverage Saturday to come visit me, & as mentioned, gotten coverage again Sunday to have a pregnancy melt down - which missing so much work would of course piss off her judgy gma. All this said, she is an addict, an albeit clean one, for several months, with no real home & a baby on the way.

We determined during our Sunday freak out that with the implant being in her as long as it was, an emergency doctor's appointment was the 1st thing to tackle. So using my called-out day off on Monday we went to the local poor person's hospital.

The initial estimation, just by the nurse feeling her belly, was 24 weeks. A LOT more than 16. Insert freakout #2. Next came the basic sonogram... Next estimation: 33 weeks. Holy fucking shit! Next came the measurements sonogram, which was quickly deemed necessary. Final verdict: 30 weeks & 1 day, 3 lbs, 3 oz, boy, due day MAY 12! We have 10 fucking weeks to make a plan!!!!

She's 7 months pregnant & never knew.

We finally took her back to her grandma's. She broke the news to her & they had their 1st real "yelling" fight ever. Gma was mostly pissed that M wouldn't be going thru with her CNA class. (Gma was a nurse all her life & has always wanted her granddaughter to follow in her footsteps, fervently.) But there JUST isn't TIME!

Gma told her she should give up this baby to the couple that adopted her 1st baby. Low goddamn blow. Told her she would be a waitress for the rest of her life. Wow... Just wow. We knew she would trip, but this was next level, low down & dirty.

I know she's 75 & thinks she's the wise old owl that knows all. But M has had 1 abortion, 1 miscarriage & one baby adopted out. She wants to keep this baby. And as crazy as it sounds, I'm 100% behind her decision. She's doing great in her sobriety & she's excited for this little baby boy. She deserves a family that supports her. I'm so fucking pissed at this woman (gma). I'm ready to dump her like the rest of my shitty family (she's my ex's mother)!

I was a single mom for a fucking long ass time, because HER POS son refused to step up. But by God I did it, & so can M.

To end this tale with the kicker of all kickers, being 30 weeks & 1 day pregnant, it was determined that she was pregnant when she got the birth control implant. But she wasn't far enough along to have a positive pregnancy test result. How's THAT for a kick in the pants?!

As one of the nurses today said, "Well, this baby was clearly meant to be." I'm taking her words to heart. There was something very wonderful bubbling inside me during this helluva 24 hours. THIS time I get to put my heart into this. THIS time I get to grow attached. THIS time I get to be a part of this beautiful baby boy's life. I'm going to be a grandma. Or "Jamma" (pronounced jammaw) as my daughter would have it. If M stays clean, this can be a glorious time in my life. But I have to state the obvious - if she doesn't stay clean, this could be my baby, because I'm not letting another one go. A somber, scary thought. But a thought I would set aside and make it work for the love of my new grandchild.

M's grandmother's hurtful words just make me want this baby more in our lives. Shame on her, but God bless us.

Moonies are also known for their fasting, rejecting food till they reach their fundraising quota. Also, all these Filipino people, none who ever belonged to the church, told me that Filipino people hate the church for selling off Filipina women to Korean men.”

Morpheus (former FFWPU member): “I was on a staff that helped organize picture matchmaking in the late 1990s. Rev. Moon would come in and match all these young Filipino sisters to older Korean men who were not even members. I’m not sure Rev. Moon was aware of the wheeling and dealing that would go on behind the scenes. Many of these farmers and land owners would mortgage their farm to be admitted to these picture matchings. The Philippine Government complained. Discovered later that Korean leaders made lots of money this way.” (22nd April 2015)

Protests over this wholesale of Filipinas were launched, and the case is now [in 1999] in the court in the Philippines.”

Aida F. Santos is the project director of the “pilot Project Against Trafficking in Women” currently being implemented by the Philippine Network Against Trafficking in Women. She was the Executive Director of WEDPRO, Inc., a Women’s NGO working with women in prostitution, since the early 1990s to 1998.

Catholic Church helps Filipinas running from violent FFWPU marriages In November 2009, Philippine Ambassador to South Korea Luis Cruz warned Filipina women against marrying Korean men. He said in recent months that the Philippine Embassy in Seoul has received complaints from Filipino wives of abuses committed by their Korean husbands that caused separation, divorce and abandonment. As language and cultural differences become an issue, the Filipina women are regarded as commodities bought for a price.

The Philippines prohibits the business of organizing or facilitating marriages between Filipinas and foreign men. The Philippine congress enacted Republic Act 6955 or the Anti-Mail-Order Bride Law in 1990 as a result of stories that appeared in the local press and media about Filipinas being abused by their foreign husbands.

Illegal recruitment of women by the UC in the Philippines

Many of the women came from the provinces – visited by middle-men connected with the Moonies. Young daughters of farmers in Nueva Ecija said that a Caucasian man arrived in their village with photographs of Korean men looking for wives. Women who showed interest in meeting these men were told to attend a seminar run by the Moonies in Cabanatuan City. Apparently the seminar is intended to educate women about the “ideal family” as a preparation for their meeting with their prospective husbands in Manila.

Since there is legislation banning introduction agencies in the Philippines, the women were advised by their recruiter to tell authorities that their relationships with these Korean men are genuine and that they have been in communication with them for some time. For his service, the recruiter gets $2,000 from each man. This amount, according to the Philippine embassy in Seoul corresponds with fees usually asked from Korean men wanting “housemaids” and “sex partners.”

Church Organization and Its Networks for the Filipino Migrants: Surviving and Empowering in Korea  by Toshiko Tsujimoto

Filipino diaspora is indeed a global phenomenon. Their living and working conditions have been much studied, as the number of overseas contract workers (OCWs) increased. The policies of the Philippine government as well as the host governments have also been examined. In contrast, the activities and role of nongovernment organizations (NGOS) have received little attention, especially those of the church. While the efforts for the protection of human rights and promotion of welfare can be observed among the migrants themselves, the presence of the Catholic church has been particularly significant in many parts of the world. The church is an indispensable organization for Filipinos in their spiritual as well as secular needs.

This essay focuses on one such church-based center in Seoul, the Archdiocesan Pastoral Center for Filipino Migrants, also known as the Filipino Catholic Center, or FCC, and especially pays attention to its support function. The FCC is organized and managed by Filipinos. I aim to show how Filipino migrants cope and deal with their concerns by utilizing support networks. …

Filipina Brides Who Got Married to Koreans under the Unification Church Since February 2000, more than 300 Filipino women who joined a religious group, the Unification Church, and got married to Korean men, have been landing at Kimpo International Airport, and quite a large number of the women are running to the FCC to ask for help almost every day.

When talking about how they got involved in the religious group and came to Korea, they say their friends or coworkers in the Philippines asked them if they wanted to have Korean husbands. When they are recruited, they are never told about the Unification Church. They undergo a seminar in each chapter of the church, and then they are matched by the church to Korean men. if they like each other, they attend a mass wedding in Manila with hundreds of other couples. Korean men visit Manila for two to three days to attend the mass wedding, and they cover all the expenses for the wedding plus airfare of the Filipino women to come to Korea.

When the Filipino women arrive in Korea and start to live with their husbands, the women face many problems, like cultural differences, language barrier, and relationship with their mothers-in-law. Violence from their husbands is a particularly common and serious problem. Usually, their Korean husbands are not well educated, live in the countryside, and are generally farmers. Life in the countryside and work in the farm as well as the family life with the husband or mother-in-law seem to be a difficult experience for Filipina to accept.

Filipino women come to FCC with various problems and the most common case is violence from their husbands. There is no solution to this problem so far, and FCC is giving shelter and documenting evidences. FCC also asks for help from the Korean Catholic church regarding this problem.

The Roman Catholic Church of the Philippines tried to stop human trafficking of Filipinas by the Unification Church which was a serious problem from the late 1980s to the mid 1990s. There were court cases against the UC.

For Byeong-woon’s family, that makes a living by rice farming, the 10 million won (US$ 10,000) that they saved for marriage with a Filipina was not a small amount. Before he left for the Philippines, he was picture-matched to a Filipina who the Unification Church said was an elementary school teacher. He made an initial payment of $2,000 to the Church for the preparation of the wedding, but right before his departure, the UC reverend came to him and said that the woman changed her mind (although, there is no way of verifying this) and gave him back only $1,500 because $500 was already spent for miscellaneous costs. Since his trip was planned and he thought this time was his chance to marry, he went to the Philippines and was matched to Sheryl. For Byeong-woon’s aged parents who were in their late sixties, the first failure made the prevailing image of marriage migrants (who would marry to migrate to Korea and then leave for cities) a real possibility. They did not want to take a chance of Sheryl running away because that meant the US$ 6,000 they spent for the wedding going wasted and they would need to spend additional funds to find another wife. This compelled them to keep a tight hold on Filipinas physically and financially. Furthermore when Sheryl failed to produce a son, her conservative parents-in-laws’ frustration was exploded antagonistically toward Sheryl.  LINK

Divorce rates among international marriages have seen a huge jump over the past decade.

According to Statistics Korea, divorce from a foreign spouse made up 1.3 percent of total divorces in 2001. In 2005, this figure grew to 3.3 percent and continued to rise to 9.3 percent in 2009 before seeing a slight fall. The latest figures show it’s on the rise again with a slight increase to 9.5 percent.

Studies suggest that the rate is linked to the rising prevalence of domestic violence in those households.

According to a 2010 Domestic Violence Actual Conditions Survey by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, almost 70 percent of migrant wives experienced domestic violence. This is over 10 percent higher than the domestic violence rate in the general population.

In Korea, domestic violence is viewed as a private matter that should not be spoken about outside of the family. Kang Seong-euy, former secretary-general and counseling center manager at the Women Migrants Human Rights Center of Korea, believes that this is an issue which needs to change. “In Korean and Asian culture, they do not want to discuss family problems outside of the family. But to solve the problems, we need to think logically,” she said.

The center, which works to inform and protect the rights of migrant women in Korea, encourages women who have been subjected to domestic abuse to contact the police so there is an official record, emphasizing that it could be used as a source of evidence should the woman go to court.

“If a woman calls the center for help, at first we try and figure out what the situation is. If there is violence, we ask them what they want to do,” said Kang. If the foreign wife wants to speak with her husband and work it out, the center will contact the husband and explain the situation. If, instead, the wife says she wants a divorce, they ask if she has discussed this option with her spouse before assisting her further.

Many of the problems foreign brides face in Korea stem from the culture difference. Kang explained that foreign women can find it difficult to adapt to their new life and conduct what some would deem as wifely duties – like getting up earlier than their husband to cook breakfast. The “family-to-family”-oriented view that Korean men expect may not translate well to women who are not familiar with Korean culture. “International marriage is very different. When a woman from [overseas] comes to Korea, only one woman goes into the family. So the family expects that she accepts the culture because she is coming to Korea.”

Kang reiterates what many people have said before about the industry: The main problem is a lack of honest information provided to both men and women by the marriage agency. For her, this is the catalyst that other problems stem from.

Korean immigration law demands immigrant wives live here for at least two years with an F-2 visa issued to spouses of Koreans before applying for Korean citizenship. If they divorce within two years and foreign spouses fail to prove in a courtroom that their Korean husbands caused the divorce, foreign wives must leave Korea before their visa expires.

We don’t have divorce in the Philippines and an annulment is costly and time-consuming. A Filipina married to a Korean couldn’t simply end her marriage by divorcing her spouse in Korea. That divorce wouldn’t be valid in the Philippines; however, a Korean spouse could divorce a Filipina wife. That leaves her with nothing if she’s not a Korean citizen. What’s worse is that if they have a child, the custody would most likely be given to the Korean father. She will also have to leave the country when her visa expires. This is why I always tell those who ask me for advice about marrying a Korean that they should think about it really carefully.
