tv shows i've watched in 2023 ⇢ THE MIDNIGHT CLUB (2022)

And I don't know, it might be lame, but I started with the Atari 7800 and I haven't missed a beat. NES, Genesis, Super Nintendo. And I'm not going to play the PlayStation. It comes out in September. That's like eight months from now. Not going to play the Nintendo 64. That's not out until next year. Yeah, it's, it's lame, I guess, um… But that hurts, man. That's all. And I know there's stuff I should mourn more. I'm probably going to lose a lot. My sight, my motor function, my memory, my life. But yeah, the PlayStation is on my mind, and it makes me mad and it sucks.

In regards to Mike Flanagan's "The Midnight Club"

I really enjoyed the show and what it portrays. Especially how it humanizes terminally ill teenagers/ young adults without making this into some disability p*rn or "sick girl/guy" trope. These kids have their own thoughts, feelings, they are scared, they enter in new relationships knowing that they've got maybe months to live and I just really enjoy the humanity of them. When Kevin said that he is pretending to be fine adound his family because he wants himself to be a "good memory in peoples minds". When Ilonka tried literally everything to try and get cured after she was told her cancer is terminal. It's just very realistic thoughts and actions that can be relatable and also easy to empathise with.

My main issue would be the makeup of the actors at times. While they did mostly a great job making the actors look like they are actually unwell and dying, FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING CHEMO PATIENTS DO NOT HAVE EYEBROWS. (In the first episode where Ilonka is shown going through chemo with a perfectly bald head (which is also not realistic, she would have some stray hairstrands that grow back unevenly) and PERFECT dark eyebrows. Like that's not how hair works people. And no, she would not have perfect nails either. I appreciated Amesh's chest catheter, that was a nice touch and realistic for patients constantly undergoing treatment to have one (so they don't need to stab you with multiple iv's every day).

That's just some late night thoughts on the show.

Watch the show and read Mike Flanagan's synopsis of what season two would have been, because it would have been really great. Sucks how streaming platforms treat ongoing shows these days.

I finally had my wedding that was centered around the works of @flanaganfilm. I wanted to take as much as I could from all his shows but I could only focus on three of the shows: Haunting of Hill House, Haunting of Bly Manor, and Fall of the House of Usher (with the mask and Bachelorette party last week).

I also played songs from the shows as well as creepy music box music to fit the vibes. I got a lot of compliments about this wedding, which makes me very happy! I’ll post more pics later!

NBC Universal is pulling shady shit. Please consider signing the petition and helping them picket at Universal:
