“You have more in common than you may initially think,” Magnus countered. “Beyond the obvious craftsmanship, you both happen to be quite brusque people. I can see why you two would not get along – the same reason why creatures with thorns on their backs are generally solitary – but you must admit that there are quite a lot of similarities.”
Both were quite standoff-ish and somewhat snappy or bitter, both liked to keep their creations mostly to themselves, there was that bit of perfection within both of them… Magnus had heard many compare Rogal and Perturabo, but perhaps Ferrus was the more apt mirror.
After all, both their Legions are named for Iron.
“There is a difference.” his hands were ever busy, writing reports, or doing other things that required his attention. Though for the primarch it was easy to multi task a thousand things if need but. Was it needed? yes when the crusade is still on going. But was it head ache inducing? somewhat. Fulgrim often calmed his head.
“I am satisfied, with my role. Perturabo is...not.” Because the obvious tension is there, and Dorn does not help things. But more often than not, Primarchs rarely cared for anyone outside their immediate circle outside of Horus.
"Your assessment, is rather incorrect." There is a pause, Manus own features twisting a bit as he thought particularly hard on a topic he is unfamiliar with. After all, he didn't even bother to put effort into the concept of a family with the other primarchs.
"I am nothing, like Perturabo."

((Bad Things Bingo prompt Don’t Let Them See You Cry. For Asher Thorne. Wanted to write this piece for a few days after the idea came to me on how Ferrus got free from prison after his last encounter with Alexois and friends. Then I decided it also fit a Bingo prompt without even thinking about it. XD Just wasn’t one in my ask box waiting for inspiration to strike.))
It had been months. Maybe longer. Time wasn’t something he was entirely sure of right now. Especially since he’d only on and off looked for his missing kin. Not that there was much love left between the brothers. He had briefly checked on his brother once only to find the man mixed up in something messy. Had gone back later only to find him missing now.
Asher paused in the shadows outside the prison. Inside was where his reports had said Ferrus was after an incident in the Shroud. Brought in by an Immortal Flames officer who was friends with Alexois. Probably a suitable punishment for the man. Yet a part of Asher felt they should have just ended things rather than this.
Things needed to be remedied. Tried to talk sense into his brother before he’d left. Yet it had done nothing to make Ferrus change the path he walked. Which only led to this. To imprisonment. Perhaps this was better than being dusted by the Elementals. No. Asher wasn’t happy with either idea. It was time he stepped in to deal with his own brother before Ferrus dragged him down as well.
Asher remembered clearly the easy bond between Ferrus and Alexois. How that bond had become so twisted for Ferrus to try and murder the other… It was not really any of Asher’s business but he put his gil on his brother mucking everything up. Just like Ferrus had ruined things between them. Brothers at odds after Ferrus took that first swing at him. That day was still fresh in his mind even all these years later. A part of him still surprised that Alexois never came after him.
Standing here wasn’t accomplishing anything. Plus he needed to get in and out without being noticed. As well as if he was gone too long the others would begin to wonder where he was. Usually he let someone know but this time was different. He hadn’t wanted to lie to them nor did he want to tell them about his crazy brother. Leaving them in the dark just in case the worst happened and he was caught. It was just better this way.
Asher waited for the right moment after he’d spent plenty of time and Charlie to help him scout out the patrols and guard locations. Doused the one nearest to his brother’s cell with a sleeping dust via Charlie. His little smart bomb really did come in handy looking like a harmless toy minion. He snuck right up to the bars and looked into the man huddled in the corner of the dank cell.
Amber eyes opened slowly to look in the direction of the faint noise of hands meeting metal. A rather half-crazed expression settling in on his brother’s face. Ferrus looked a bit worse for wear but healthy enough in body. It was his brother’s mind now that worried Asher.
“Well if that isn’t a face I thought I’d never see again.” Ferrus purred as he slowly stood and walked a few steps closer to the bars. “The coward comes crawling back.”
“I left because you forced my hand, Brother.” Adding extra emphasis to the word Brother. Asher frowned, taking the gun from his hip as he took a step back from the bars to avoid his brother having a chance to grab for the weapon. He knew his brother well enough. Standing in range would just beg to allow himself to be slammed against the bars upon being grabbed and Ferrus obtaining the gun. Asher was definitely smart enough not to allow that to happen. The gun was pointed right for Ferrus’ skull. “Now I plan to end this misery before things can get anymore out of hand.”
“End me now eh?” Ferrus stepped up to the bars, still grinning like a madman at his little brother. “Do it. Set me free.” Sudden laughter bubbling out of the miqo’te now. “What does it matter anyways?! What does anything matter?! We’re all just pawns. Playthings!” Ferrus turned away from his brother, now leaning against the bars with his back. A smug look that Asher couldn’t see from this angle. Clearly playing the insanity card against his own kin.
“Ferrus…” A part of the boy wavered. Demanding this was for the best if his brother was truly losing his mind. Maybe this was what the Elementals had inflicted on him for his crimes. Was this a just punishment? Not really… He couldn’t say his brother hadn’t earned this. It hurt so much though. Ferrus was the only blood kin he still had. But he wouldn’t cry here. Not here.
“Still too weak? Then let me join them. Let me find my overlords.” Ferrus turned to pleading with his little brother as he went back to giving that look of madness. A hand outstretched from between the bars. Preying on the fact his brother put so much faith in the stories they had been told growing up. Using that belief against the younger man. Stories that had been told to make children behave. Ferrus never believed one of those stories.
“Shut up!” Asher hissed as his hands shook. Teeth gritted against the anger and sorrow. Should just pull that trigger to end his brother’s twisted existence. End all the suffering right here and now. Yet he found it so hard to perform that simple task. Ferrus was still his brother after all. It was hard to hold back the tears and pain seeing his brother like this.
Asher swore under his breath in length as he stormed over to the sleeping guard. Taking the keys from the man’s belt and tossing them towards the bars. They landed just so that if Ferrus wanted them, he’d have to really stretch for them. Not that Asher lingered long enough to watch or even help his brother beyond tossing the keys. He couldn’t. His heart wouldn’t let him.
Once back at the base, Asher slammed the door shut to his workspace. It caused a few confused glances between the other sky pirates but no one wanted to bother their mechanic with his floating bomb minion. They left him in peace. Left him alone to the silent tears as he curled up in the far corner of the workshop. Hands gripped tightly on the sleeves of his jacket as he buried his face against his knees drawn close.
Mourning his brother and his inability to end it. His weakness. Ferrus was still his brother after all. He couldn’t bring himself to kill his own brother no matter what Ferrus had done so far… At least no one had to see him cry over a brother that was better off dead.

Bingo: Confrontation
(Confrontation - Asher Thorne, Ferrus Thorne, and Alexois Dubeltaire. A little bit of backstory. The fight that ended with the brothers going their separate ways.)
Hazel eyes watched the group below him with a clearly bored look on his face. Huffing softly as his older brother was giving the rest of the bandits directions for their latest hit against a small settlement in the Shroud. His shaggy black hair with it’s green tips was long and hanging down as he was hanging upside down from a tree branch above the others.
Another raid. More chances the Wailers would seek them out even more then usual. Ferrus was getting far too cocky lately. Either they were going to suffer at the hands of the Wailers or by the Elementals. Ferrus was clearly playing with fire now. His older sibling had only gotten worse in recent years. The distance between the two of them had grown.
Especially since Alexois had joined their crew. Some Ishgardian elezen that had come south to escape something that had happened. The man didn’t really talk about his reasons with anyone but Ferrus. Asher really didn’t like the elezen very much but had to admit the man was good at punishing those that tried to betray them. Someone had clearly taught the elezen how to torture people.
Not to mention most of these raids had very little use for Asher. His skill was with a bow and shooting from a tree. Raids were far too dangerous for him to be playing marksman from a tree. Most of the trees didn’t give him good vantage points at settlements. Or there was a high risk of hitting on of their own men if he wasn’t careful. Raids with this group were more of an up close and personal fight.
Of course Asher cared about his brother but at the same time was worried. He wasn’t interested in dying or being arrested this young. Even if the only family he had was Ferrus. Even since they were nothing more then children. Maybe it was time to stand up to his brother. Or at least try to make his brother see reason before something bad happened.
“Get your ass down here, Asher!” Ferrus hollered up at Keeper in the tree as he finished explaining the plan to the others.
A sigh and a roll of his eyes as he dropped down from where he’d been hanging out. Flipping as he fell to land in a crouch on the ground near the group. Giving his brother an annoyed look as he brushed his hair back out of his face. Gods he missed the way things used to be with his brother before.
“You don’t need a marksman on this stupid raid, Ferrus. Besides the Wailers are getting more annoying lately cause you’ve been greedy. I swear you’ve been more greedy in these last few years then ever. It’s all that damned Ishgardian you’ve taken in.” Asher hissed in annoyance as he pointed a finger at the tanned elezen with the shortened blonde hair. Only feeling more riled up when the man smirked at him and made a crude gesture at him. “Why won’t you listen to me?”
“Shut up, Asher. I am still the leader of this group, not you. If you want to have this confrontation in front of the others… Then keep running that trap of yours.” Ferrus snarled back at his brother, barring the Keeper fangs at him, tail flicking in annoyance. “Or I can just had you to Alexois and call you a traitor now and save us all the hassle later.”
“So you’d do this to your own brother? I can’t believe you, Ferrus… We’re flesh and blood, you asshole!” Asher snarled as he stormed over to his brother and glared up at him, being several inches shorter than his sibling. “Listen to me before it’s too late. You’re going to either invite the wrath of the Elementals or piss off the Wailers to the point they have us hunted down and killed.”
Ferrus snarled and swung a fist, catching Asher on the cheek with a nice right hook. Asher went down on his side as he blinked in surprise, rubbing his sore jaw. Could taste blood where his own fang tooth had cut his lip when he was punched.
So that was how this was going to be huh?
Asher stood up and dusted himself off, not even looking at his brother as he walked to where he had left his bow and quiver. Picking them up without a word.
“If you walk away… You’re a traitor. You know that right?” The threat was clear in Ferrus’ tone of voice as he cast a brief glance in Alexois’ direction.
Asher took a deep breath as he made his choice in his head. If he stayed this would only end in blood between them. Last thing he wanted to kill his own brother. Still he hoped that someday his brother would get his head out of his ass and see reason. Today wasn’t going to be that day. Asher turned quickly with an arrow knocked on his bow as he aimed the arrow right at Alexois. He kept it trained on the elezen though his eyes cast a glance at his brother for only a second to see the fear flicker there. Ferrus knew full well just how good a shot Asher was and that he’d take that shot too.
It was risky. Walking away and hoping Ferrus didn’t send Alexois after him. None of the others had spoken up. They were clearly afraid of Ferrus and Alexois. But Asher refused to go down with them.
“Good bye, brother. I will kill anyone you send after me. So don’t waste your time. I don’t plan to stick around the Shroud anyways. I’m not stupid enough to keep pressing my luck till the Elementals decide to dust us all. I hope someday you’ll understand how stupid this is.” Asher began to take cautious steps backwards as he kept his eyes on the group.
Alexois hadn’t made a move though. The elezen just gave him a rather bored look. Then Alexois looked like he was saying something that Asher couldn’t quite hear at this distance. A sneer forming as the man finished moving his lips.
‘Give them hell.’
Only Asher couldn’t hear those words. He waited till he had enough distance between himself and the group before turning. Sprinting as fast as he could away from the group. Not planning on stopping till he’d reach Thanalan at the very least. Praying that someone in the Twelve would bless him just enough to let him escape.
But no one was chasing him anyways.
“Stupid ass brother.” Ferrus snarled and looked about ready to chase his little brother.
“Let him go. I don’t think he’s worth chasing anyways.” Alexois responded in a bored tone though his eyes clearly said he was amused by this turn of events. “Besides I ain’t getting between the two of you either. Solve your own damn family problems.” Giving a yawn the elezen turned and started to head towards the spot they had planned. Seemingly pleased smile on his face once he was turned away from Ferrus.
Ferrus hissed in annoyance before flashing a glare at the remainder of his men. Every one of them quickly found ways to make themselves busy. No one wanted to further poke the angry miqo’te.
