Those of you who follow me know that one of my kins is Bakugo...
Which is why suprisingly, when I first watched the first few episodes of MHA back in 2016. I wasn't sure how to feel about Katsuki Bakugo at first. To be honest... Til episode 8 that is...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When I first saw Bakugo, I thought "okay, another bully to the MC trope thing.. yeah yeah whatever..."  But then this happened... This scene right here was the moment I realized, Bakugo's character was a lot more complex than I first thought...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In this scene at first glance, it seems like he's being a dick to Deku like usual. Which granted, is true for the most part... However, this is when I realized this is deeper. This scene I believe is when Bakugo's inferiority complex started to show. You can see him trembling, being hard on himself subtly, getting defensive, and even crying. It was clear at this moment to me that Bakugo had a lot complexities to him than just the typical bully character, and that they were doing something different this time.

Wild how we know that Elizabeth Woodville was officially appointed to royal councils in her own right during her husband’s reign and fortified the Tower of London in preparation of a siege while 8-months pregnant and had forces gathering at Westminster “in the queen’s name” in 1483 – only for NONE of these things to be even included, let alone explored, in the vast majority of scholarship and historical novels involving her.
#lol I don't remember writing this - I found it when I was searching for something else in my drafts. But it's 100% true so I had to post it.#elizabeth woodville#my post#Imo this is mainly because Elizabeth's negative historiography has always involved both vilification and diminishment in equal measure.#and because her brand of vilification (femme fatale; intriguer) suggests more indirect/“feminine” than legitimate/forceful types of power#It's still bizarre though-you'd think these would be some of the most famous & defining aspects of Elizabeth's life. But apparently not#I guess she only matters when it comes to marrying Edward and Promoting Her Family and scheming against Richard#There is very lacking interest in her beyond those things even in her traditionally negative depictions#And most of her “reassessments” tend to do diminish her so badly she's rendered utterly irrelevant and almost pathetic by the end of it#Even when some of these things *are* mentioned they're never truly emphasized as they should be.#See: her formal appointment in royal councils. It was highly unconventional + entirely unprecedented for queens in the 14th & 15th century#You'd think this would be incredibly important and highlighted when analyzing late medieval queenship in England but apparently not#Historians are more willing to straight-up INVENT positions & roles for so many other late medieval queens/king's mothers that didn't exist#(not getting into this right now it's too long...)#But somehow acknowledging and discussing Elizabeth's ACTUAL formally appointed role is too much for them I guess#She's either subsumed into the general vilification of her family (never mind that they were known as 'the queen's kin' to actual#contemporaries; they were defined by HER not the other way around) or she's rendered utterly insignificant by historians. Often both.#But at the end of the day her individual role and identity often overlooked or downplayed in both scenarios#and ofc I've said this before but - there has literally never been a proper reassessment of Elizabeth's role in 1483-85 TILL DATE#despite the fact that it's such a sensational and well-known time period in medieval England#This isn't even a Wars of the Roses thing. Both Margaret of Anjou and Margaret Beaufort have had multiple different reassessments#of their roles and positions during their respective crises/upheavals by now;#There is simply a distinct lack of interest in reassessing Elizabeth in a similar way and I think this needs to be acknowledged.#Speaking of which - there's also a persistent habit of analyzing her through the context of Margaret of Anjou or Elizabeth of York#(either as a parallel or a foil) rather than as a historical figure in HER OWN RIGHT#that's also too long to get into I just wanted to point it out because I hate it and I think it's utterly senseless#I've so much to say about how all of this affects her portrayal in historical fiction as well but that's going into a whole other tangent#anyway- I am forever judging historical/fictional books that center around or heavily involve Elizabeth which do not highlight these things#ofc there are other things but these in particular *really* frustrate me#just felt like ranting a bit in the tags because these are all things that I want to individually discuss someday with proper posts...

We have a family friend who's a first grade teacher, whose students were born in 2016 or 2017. For fun I was googling what like, pop culture events happened in 2015 that they weren't alive for, and most of the stuff felt old. Left shark, the blue-black/white-gold dress, the ALS ice bucket challenge... And Obergefell V Hodges. The US Supreme Court case that struck down state bans on gay marriage, effectively legalizing it across the continent. On the day this post goes up, it'll be nine years exactly. Those kids are the first in her classroom to have always lived in an America where their uncle and his 'roommate' could be legally wed. Not an America free from homophobia, prejudice, or discrimination -- Just one where two consenting adults were allowed to call each other their spouse. Nine years.
The fight is not over. The battle is not won. Homophobia, transphobia, erasure of gender and sexual identity -- It's rampant within America, within our world. Visible, and invisible. I don't care if you don't 'understand' he/him lesbians. I don't care if you have strong opinions on the labels of bisexual and pansexual, and who is allowed to use them and when. People want us dead. We need to stick together. This is a fight that started before we were born, and we will fight until we die.
Nine years.
Happy Pride.

hooty reminds me of kyle and entrapta in some ways. he never did anything wrong, in fact he only tried to be friendly with everyone, but everyone bullies him and acts like he's a nuisance just because he happens to be kinda weird. up to s2, at least.
like,, isn't it the message of the show to not bully people and accept them regardless of their eccentricities? wasn't luz bullied for this exact same reason?? why was it suddenly okay for luz to mess with hooty or act like he's annoying just because he's.. i guess, weirder than she is? her entire conflict with the human realm was that her weird interests were made fun of (although some of those interests turned out to be harmful to those around her, and they had a valid reason to be scared or weirded out but whatever).
i do like that they accept hooty later on but i feel like that's only because he helped them out with their problems. it's kind of like the situation with entrapta in s5, basically “people only respect you if you're useful to them”. there wasn't really a lesson to be learned, none of them really acknowledge that they were mean to hooty and they shouldn't have treated him like that. lilith of all people has this realization and apologizes to hooty for mistreating him but eda, king and luz doesn't? eda, especially, i mean hooty is the owl house, he ensures her safety and comfort but she still treated him like shit?

The problem with fatfetish is not in it existing, but in not-exsisting of alternative positive image of fatness in media, and not-exsisting of range of narrative in depicting fatness as something sexy in kinky images.
It's like media have two options for fat characters: 1) background comic relief in mass media 2) fatfetish art in internet niche. with not much of smth else
Respectful representation of fatness is big important topic for it's own discussion, but focusing on kinky art - fatness presented as smth sexy there, but it's almost always one narrative (usually food related)
And, i think, if we would have more ways of depicting sexiness of fatness, especially in kinky art, and bring sexiness of fatness in mass media, it would be easier to accept for people, that having kink for big bellies & softness is same as kink for muscle body, 6 packs, bdsm or any other kinks which are people fine with (kinks is smth totally ok to have, for the record)
Like, there are """cringe""" art of muscle kink too, and people have a little laugh about it sometimes, but nobody says that loving muscles is bad or disgusting - yes, because of fatphobia, but why are people so fatphobic still? Because they are not used to see positive images of fatness around and taught from childhood, by media narrative too, that fatness = bad. And they see all the scenarios you can imagine of muscles or thinness being sexy around, in media all scales. It's chicken and egg situation - one thing boosting another: we don't have positive image of fat > people learn "fat = not normal, bad" thought > they don't even think about questioning it because all the world around them is keeping this rule > a lot of people becoming media industry workers, and > they keep media not-including fat characters, keeping status quo > new generation, repeat.
In result we have this vicious circle. And we can break it, by making more fatness inclusive media, and going back to kink talk - we need more ways of depicting fatness as something sexy: new narratives, new plots in films, new lyric in songs, new art aesthetics.
I mean, you can have great time daydreaming that food scenarios, but wouldn't it be also cool to see sexy fat characters in other roles? Imagine - Sexy Fantasy Fat character, who got so much power that their body has to be bigger to keep all that. People went all horny then Detroit Become Human released - imagine cool fat robots, so fragile and complicated in their core parts, that they need big fat parts made of smth soft to prevent damage if they fall. Or fat characters in art, in just usual hot images narratives, but they drawn in a way, which make their fatness looking like hot detail, or even hot focus of the art.
I know we have progress and there are more and more examples of that i say. It just still few. So, let's go work hard and make more

I noticed your hair seemed to be shorter, if it brings you comfort-- cutting hair mostly represents an end to a chapter, cutting bad memories or simply change, so hang in there! :)
Tumblr media
Only until summer break I fixed to cut the rest completely. I felt more than comfortable and dyed it with my favorite color! And you are completely right about those analogies, because since then - I've been back on track to improving and putting myself out of my comfort zone.

Is it possible to get a pendulum as to whether my relationship with Itchy from the Felt was platonic or romantic in my Diamonds Droog timeline? I swear we were close, but I’m not quite sure. Thank you in advance.
Hey! My pendulum says you were romantic!
