Giggles, they bubbled up and floated around the room filling it with fizzy magic. Steve tried to remember a time he had come home to such a sound. And if so, it had been a long time. There had been so much silence after Thanos. And before that the noise was anything but laughter. When you are on the run laughter wasnât really a daily occurrence.  Â
Dixie stood in the middle of the living room in a sports bra and legging stretching. Her phone propped up on a chair where she was watching something. Her hair pulled back in a messy ponytail as the light back lit her in a way that made her almost look like she was glowing.Â
She looked so different from the girl yesterday. So much more relaxed, in her own element.Â
Bucky was right. He didnât know this woman at all. But she didnât know him either. And at least he was in his own home. She had left everything and everyone for this.Â
Part of him debated just leaving. Letting her enjoy herself without him around to ruin it.Â
âHello Mr. America.âÂ
Too late.Â
She smiled up at him from her warrior on3. A big cheesy grin that seemed to light up the already bright room. It was infectious and he couldnât help but smile back. Standing up she pulled at her ponytail.
âDonât stop on my accountâÂ
âOhh enjoying the view of my sweaty body?â she giggled swaying her hips as her hands moved over her body in an exaggeratedly sexy motion. She was silly, something Steve was slowly learning more and more.Â
âSo what are your plans today?âÂ
âWasnât really sure, what do you guys do for fun around here?â
âWell Sam enjoys the large media room, Bucky and I like to hike around the property, Wanda and Vision normally cook, It really just depends.âÂ
Dixie nods thinking it over about to respond when her stomach spoke for her. Letting out a loud growl. Chuckling Steve nodded toward the kitchen.
âHave you eaten?âÂ
âLunch sounds amazing, I was going to shower and then figure out how to work that fancy kitchen.âÂ
âI can start something if you would like to take a shower.âÂ
âI wonât say no to a hot guy making me foodâ Dixie giggled spinning around heading for the bedroom, âBe back in a bitâÂ
âTake your timeâ Steve called after her fighting back a smile. Maybe this wouldnât be so bad. It seemed like she was startling to settle into the place. Plus making food would hel[. Something to do. Something he can control.Â
Dixie sighed letting the warm water wash over her. Trying to clean away any anxiety she was feeling about being alone with Steve again. It was weird because at this point they had (quite literally) slept together. But she still felt like she was with a complete stranger.Â
A beautiful strangerÂ
But a stranger none the less.Â
Although as she walked back into the main room watching Steve walk around the kitchen he didnât feel that much of a stranger. His blue eyes met her as she came closer. A platter of meats and cheeses.
âI figured you could make your own sandwich if you want or just eat whatever.âÂ
âOhhh so fancyâ Dixie giggled, âIs that wine?â Â
He smiled pouring her a glass, âIt isâÂ
âYou know how to make a girl feel special.âÂ
âSo what did you do for fun?â Steve asked, helping himself to some meat and cheese.
âOh Iâm just a simple girl, some binging Netflix is always fun. I am very partial to cheesy 80âs action movies.â Memories of her and Mac sitting on a beat up old couch they had gotten from craigslists with a pack of cheap beer between them. Laughing like nothing else mattered. Calling out lines and guessing what would happen next. Â
It felt like a lifetime ago.Â
âOh and what made the 80âs so cheezy?â Steve perked up, many people had recommended things to him but cheesy 80âs action hadnât been one of them. He was honestly not even sure what that was.Â
âOh man I forgot you missed stuff.â Dixie said taking a sip of her drink mulling it over. Would it even make sense to a man who spent most of his life in the 30âs and 40âs.Â
âYeah, I have been keeping a list of things I need to catch up on.â Steve said, pulling it out. Dixie instantly lighting up.
âWait you have a real honest to goodness list, lemme see!âÂ
Taking it she flipped over the pages, âMan Star Wars? Itâs insane to me that you missed all this stuff. I mean it makes sense but⌠golly gosh jeez whizâÂ
Steve raised an eyebrow fighting back a smile, âJeez whiz?âÂ
âYeah old man, we are going to have to start working on this.â The idea of experiencing movies like Indiana Jones and the Matrix with someone who didnât know anything making her excited.Â
âActually I had a better idea.â picking up a remote he clicked play. Soft music started to play. Moving around the large island that broke up the kitchen and the living room he held out his hand to Dixie who watched him. Her playful smile slowly melting from her face. Eyes studying him intently. Unsure.
âWhat?â she asked, looking from his hand to his bright blue eyes. Her stomaching flopping slightly. Shuttering as if she was standing on the edge of something. Something high up. That vertigo, gravity pulling you down.Â
âCan I have this Dance?â
She felt sick, slightly off balance, âAre you serious?â
âDonât like dancing?â
âIâm not very goodâÂ
Steve wasnât stupiud, he saw the shift in her. Buckyâs words coming back to him. Youâre a stranger to her as well. âItâs ok, I⌠I want to try okâÂ
Dixie wasnât really sure what try meant. Try dancing? Try to get to know each other? Try romance? Try, the small voice in the back of her head sang. Try something.Â
Slowly she slipped her hand into his, those unbalancing nerves swaying even harder as his hand gripped hers. She was fighting her better judgement. All the warning bells that told her to step away from the ledge. But he was right. They had to try. The world was counting on them. And if this would help him commit to their destiny then she would have to give a little.Â
As she followed him into the center of the living room she hoped it was worth it. Hoped that no matter what happened it didnât crash and burn around them. That she could navigate herself between that fine line of caring for someone and not falling in love. Â
He smiled down at her as the music played slowly moving. She giggled again and his smile grew.Â
âYou have a great laugh.âÂ
âUh, thank you. I like your smile. The real one anyway.âÂ
âReal one?âÂ
âYeah not that uptight, Iâm trying to make you feel at least one. This one.â she pointed toward his face and nodded her approval.Â
âI guess I should apologize for being so⌠uptight.âÂ
âItâs okâ she nodded, âThis whole situation is kind ofâŚâ
âAwkward?âÂ
âEminently.âÂ
âWell at least we are on the same page.âÂ
âIf there is one thing I have learned growing up as an awkward kid wasâ Dixie paused for a moment, âLean it to the awkward.â she leaned forward as she spoke her bright eyes looking up at him. He smiled down unable to picture the beautiful woman in his arms as an awkward kid. However, some could say the same about him. Â
âOk then,â he said leaning forward, his forehead brushing against herâs. Their faces only a breath apart. Barely touching, eyes locked on one another. Caught up in the moment. âIâm going to kiss you.â Steve whispered his words drifting through her gently stirring something deep inside that made her shiver as he broke that abyss between them meeting her lips with his own.Â
Steveâs kiss felt like a question. Asking her what she wanted, asking himself if this was right. His kisses were always slightly hesitant, holding back slightly. Searching as if looking for something that wasnât there.Â
Or maybe someone.Â
As he slowly pulled away Dixie licked her lips. Trying to hold back the words that raced through her mind. Suspicions that seemed to be slowly confirmed with each passing second.Â
âWhat is it?âÂ
âWhat?â Steve looked down at her confused, âWhat is what?âÂ
âThere is something wrong, what is it.â
âItâs not youâ it was quick, defensive. Dixie couldnât help but take a slight offence to it.Â
âI never said it wasâ her voice soft, eyebrow raised slightly. Hard eyes studying him, peeling down the layers of the man in front of her. Trying to understand who he was. What had happened to him.Â
Steve sighed looking away for a moment. Heart heavy. Memories of wounds that hadnât healed yet. Were still fresh. Still bleed deeper than any of the scars on his body.Â
Peggy.Â
âWhat?â Dixie asked again, her hand gently rubbing his arm. He met her gaze, deep blue and so broken. It hurt her. All those fears she had about her own walls. They were nothing to whatever was pushing away from.Â
Because he was already broken. He was suffering from what she had feared for herself.
âTry me.âÂ
âI⌠itâs not youâ his words empty, hollow. Like a plea trying to protect her. Trying to fall on the sword for a woman he didnât even know. Trying to be strong.Â
âIâm a good listener.â she let out a soft chuckle, âWhen I want to be.âÂ
âI just,â he sighed, running his fingers through his blonde hair. Unsure. Knowing it was wrong but⌠he needed to let it out. Needed to try and push this pain away. And then he looked down at her. Wide eyes looking back at him. Waiting. This wasnât her fault. This wasnât for her. She was just some girl. âForget itâ
Turning he walked toward the stereo turning off the music âThis was a bad idea.â
âWhat?â Dixie felt herself flush with anger. Heat building up burning inside her bright and hot. âDon't you walk away from me Steve Rogers!â She snapped grabbing his arm. He froze turning shocked.Â
âWâŚ.â
âI gave up everything to be here the LEAST you could do is be honest with me!â frustration building up. Bubbling from where deep inside her. The injustice of it all. Reminding Her again and again. She was the only one trying. Â
âDonât push it.â his words flat, a warning. Tired but a warning.Â
âTry me,â she said again, crossing her arms over her chest. Holding on tight to herself. Trying to hold back all the things she really wanted to say to this man in front of her, âwhat are you scared of?âÂ
âIâm not scaredâ he said, âIâm FINEâÂ
âClearly, you canât even get it upâÂ
âExcuse me?âÂ
âYou canât even do what Iâm here for, something is blocking you WHAT. IS. IT?â with each word she thrust her finger into his hard chest. Pushing him. Forcing him to take a step back. It didn't hurt but⌠it made him mad. Who did she think she was?Â
âStop that,â he said, grabbing her hand.
âStop what? Trying to get to know you? One of us has to try!âÂ
âIâm tryingâÂ
âYes because running away the moment you could is trying SO hardâÂ
âAre you mad I left this morning?âÂ
âIâm mad you wonât talk to me!âÂ
âIâm talking to you right now!â
âNo youâre not, you are trying to pour sugar over shit. Asking me to dance. Letting me decorate my room. Kissing meâ she pulled her hand out of his pushing him with both of hers with enough force that he took a step back word, slightly off balance. Was it just him or were her hands hot? A heat that spread across his body.
âDAMN IT Dixie STOP!âÂ
âStop what!?!â she snapped pushing him again. âAt least one of us is trying!â
âI wasnât even supposed to be here!â he snapped, the straw that broke the camelâs back. Shattering his strong glass box that increased his emotions. Shards scattering around them tearing at them. Ripping through their insecurities and doubts.Â
âWhat?âÂ
âYou want to know the truth, woman? Iâm not even supposed to be here.âÂ
âWhat do you mean you werenât even supposed to be hereâŚâ her voice was hoarse, laced with shock âwere you going to die?â Memories of her own childhood rushing back. Darknesses that creeped in when no one was around. When it felt like she could never be free.Â
Her question was like ice water on his fire. Cooling him off so that he was standing there gasping for air.Â
âNo I⌠I was going to leave everything for someone.âÂ
âIâŚâ she stammered unsure how or what to say. All her suspicions confirmed yet so many more questions filling her up.Â
âLike I said itâs not you,â he said, turning. His words ripped into her. A million cuts pouring out polling around her. His large back to her unable to face her and what his truth would do to her.Â
It only took a few steps and he was gone. Out the door. Running from her. From the reality that not only had he ruined his own life with his delusions but someone elseâs tooÂ
Like she said. She gave everything to come here.Â
To a broken man Â

Takaraâs Hero Academia Season 2 Episode 5 [Eijiro Kirishima/OC] [Female!Aizawa/Hizashi]
Hey, guys!! Sorry for taking forever on this chapter! I feel really bad this took so long, but I do have a reason; my phone gave out on me and it took a while to get a new one cus I wanted to get my phone repaired but then the people said I needed to just replace it cus it was an iPhone 6 Iâve had for a few years, and then I tried to do an update to get my cellular data back, but then it said I still needed to update my phone to get my cellular data back after I did the update, and yada yada no one cares.
Bottom line, I have a Google Pixel now and I am really liking it so far. Now, letâs stop wasting time and get to the story, okay?! :)
Okay so hereâs the Masterist for the Series (sorry I forgot to do that when I posted this lol)! And now for the taglist!Â
Once again, before I get to that, I have to remind everyone that Hiyoko and Ryuji Tiechida belong to @elite-guard-hardygal !! My bestie is just being incredibly sweet and awesome and letting me use them for a cameo/side-character thing. Love you,  galfriend!!Â
Okay so Iâm also tagging @dailyojiromashirao , @souskena , and @fandoms-fandoms-everywhere99 . They are awesome people and I genuinely love hearing their (and everyone elseâs) feedback.Â
Also, real quick: I just saw that my blog has reached 100 followers!! Thatâs insane!!! Like, literally! Anyway, letâs get to the story for real this time!Â
Hope you all enjoy this chapter!!Â
God Bless and Good Day!Â
~The Lupine Sojourner
(Looky! I made a gif!!)
âYou better hope your stupid boyfriend doesnât mess this up for us, Yamada.â Hiyoko snaps, crossing her arms, nodding toward Katsukiâs team. Â
I blink, looking back at Katsukiâs team despite myself. âWhat?â I ask, raising a brow, then blush a little and scoff. âHeâs not my boyfriend!â I then decide to change topics. âJust because weâre in the same class doesnât mean-â I catch myself and clear my throat. â-we have more important things to discuss, like Quirks and strategy.â Hiyoko sighs. I blink. Did she always have cat ear-looking whisps of hair? And whisker-like markings on her face? Guess so...and she has a medial cleft that adds to the cat-like thing sheâs got going on. I suppose thatâs also part of her Quirk. Huh...
âFine. Obviously, I got cat-like looks. And I have a solar panel on my back that I can use to store up energy and release it in claws of hardened light. I can use just my fingertips or my toes or both if I want. I can shoot out beams from these three middle fingers,â she holds up the three middle fingers on her left hand and I notice sheâs wearing a glove made to fit over the fingers, with metal claws on the fingertips. âbut it hurts a lot to do that and it drains my stored energy to almost nothing. Thatâs about it.â I nod, ignoring the odd, knowing look Ryuji gives me like he saw through my facade of not caring what team Eijiro ended up on. I clear my throat
âI can go next. I have two Quirks, actually; I control earth and water. Not great at earth, but I can track people using vibrations in the ground, so we wonât be caught off guard. Water is much easier, but my Quirk uses my blood sugar, so I canât do it forever, and earth takes more blood sugar. Thatâs about it, really, besides having about a 6-meter radius.â I turn to Ryuji. âWhatâs your Quirk, Ryuji?â Ryuji scratches the back of his neck.
âWell, nothing fancy like yours. I can read peopleâs emotions, and if I directly tell the person what theyâre feeling, it intensifies the feeling. And when I do that, itâs kind of like manipulating them into feeling more than they normally would.â Hiyoko scoffs.
âYeah. Super annoying when he just spouts off therapist garbage at you because he can tell what youâre feeling.â Ryuji sighs, choosing not to rise to his step sisterâs bait.
âPlus, I canât turn it off. Itâs not really my fault, Hiyoko-nee.â I nod. Oh geez. Despite not being able to turn it off, his Quirk is kinda cool!
âDude, thatâs pretty cool!â I reply, smiling. Ryuji smiles, probably sensing my genuine interest in his Quirk.
âThanks.â He turns to Chiharu. âWhat about you, Chiharu?â She gestures to her ears.
âWell, I got the wolf Quirk, like Ami, and I can do a really loud bark, but it takes my breath away to do it. And thatâs pretty much it.â I nod.
âThatâs awesome!â I praise, smiling at her. She grins back.
âI know.â She teases with a wink. âAnyway, um, I know youâre in class 1-A, and Ryujiâs in my class in the General Studies course, but which class are you in, Hiyoko?â
âIâm in Class 1-B.â Hiyoko replies, crossing her arms. âI wanted to get into 1-A, but it didnât turn out that way.â She seems pretty upset she didnât get into 1-A, so I smile at her.
âYou know, this whole rivalry between the hero classes is pretty stupid. Itâs not like we meant to be attacked by villains or whatever, and Katuski is the only asshole in my class. The rest are good people.â I then decide to change topics. âAnyway, letâs talk strategy real quick. I know Hiyokoâs the rider, but whoâs the front horse?â Ryuji puts his hand up.
âI know my sister the best out of the three of us and I am most likely the strongest- -no offense- -so Iâll be the front horse and Takara can be right and Chiharu will be left.â
I nod. âSounds good. Now, do we want to run or try to grab headbands?â Hiyoko scoffs.
âObviously, we need to play both defense and offense, Yamada. Defend the ones we have and grab a few more to ensure we place well. You all good with that?â I nod.
âPersonally, I am. As I said, with my vibration tracking, I can tell where the other teams are and if theyâre coming up in a blind spot. Plus, if I get some water Iâll be able to keep them at bay.â I then bite my lip. How was I gonna get more water? I doubt Oba will let me run to a vending machine or something. My range doesnât reach the stands, either. Shit!
I then decide to try to suck any water I can out of the ground. I find piping below but canât burst them as they are part of the school and I canât damage school property, right? Thereâs not much, but I do add a tiny bit of water to my stash and sigh. I also need food. This game will be rough...I just hope I do well.
I then feel a puddle a little ways away. Izuku is standing by it talking to Ochaco. I raise a brow, but pull the water to me sneakily. Unfortunately, it attracts Minetaâs attention. He looks over and motions for me to walk over. I flip him off and scoot closer to my teammates. We didnât have long till the game started, so we wait for the headbands to be passed out and we can get into formation. Hiyoko wraps the headband around her head and takes her shoes off.
âAlright, you guys. Donât screw this up!â Hiyoko calls as the countdown reaches thirty seconds. I smile.
âWe wonât. Just climb up already.â She does and Chiharu and I offer support as well as Ryuji. To our right stands a girl with black curly hair and a burly man with a weird bell-like face that looked like some odd helmet. I could see Izuku a little ways away, getting into position with his team.
âAlright! Thisâll be fun!â Chiharu purrs, snapping me back to reality, as we make final adjustments to positions and the timer rings. Oba stretches her arms.
âOh, goodie! Itâs time to get this party started!â She cheers.
âHey, hey! Look alive!, loveâ Dad prompts and I hear mom groan as she wakes up. I smile at the thought of Mom napping for fifteen minutes as I prepare to run wherever Hiyoko directs us. âAfter fifteen minutes to form teams and talk strategy, twelve teams are prepared to go head to head!â Dad cheers. Mom hums.
âIâm seeing some unexpected student combinations.â She notes. I bite my lip. Did she not approve of my team?
âCâmon! Everyone, get your hands in the air! Itâs time for an arena-pumping UA Battle Royale!â Dda continues. âLemme hear yah scream!â The crowd cheers eagerly and I bite my lip, trying not to think too much about the crowd watching. I just had to do my best and hope I make it to the next game. âOne final countdown before the game starts! 3...2...1âŚâ
âBegin!â Oba Nemuri calls, and itâs off. Hiyoko leans over toward me so we turn that way as we run, away from Izuku and the spotlight. Smart. It appears some other teams have our idea, running from the huge fight and focusing on keep their headbands and stealing if the chance arose. Once we get settled a bit away from everything, I see Izuku and his team take off into the sky!
âWhoa! What the hell?!â I exclaim, shocked. I then see a girl with pink hair in Izukuâs team and a backpack on Izukuâs back. The flying suddenly makes sense, if the pink haired girl is from the support course.
The support course students are allowed to bring their inventions, right? Thatâs the only way Izukuâs team could have those support items. I have to then focus on our team as we near the team with Tetsutetsu running after Izukuâs team, still airborne, and we nearly bump into Hagakureâs team, Kyoka sending her earphone jacks after Izuku, as well. Tokoyami is evidently on Izukuâs team because next second, Dark Shadow (Iâd seen the bird-like thing a few times while we were training. Heâs cool!) swats the jacks away.
âStupid bird!â Kyoka exclaims in frustration. I smirk as we run away. No one in our immediate area was concerned with any team but Midoriya. Thus, as a team with a red-headed girl as rider was distracted, I get Hiyokoâs attention and nod to the team.
âIâll grab their headband.â I whisper. Hiyoko nods, so I grab one of her two headbands off with a hook of water.
âHey, what the- -give that back!â I had to be careful how much I use my Quirk because I donât have unlimited blood sugar here, especially since I had to use my Quirk a lot in the obstacle course. Crap!
Wait, what the--Shojiâs with Mineta?! And Tsuyu?! Howâd that pervert manage that?! Well, with Shojiâs arms protecting them, itâs not worth trying to grab their headband, besides...we had a good amount of points. As long as we kept this number, at least for now, I think weâll be okay.
An explosion rattles the ground and I see Katsuki soaring after Izukuâs team, who had taken off again. âThat canât be legal!â I growl as Dark Shadow blocks an explosion. Hiyoko scoffs as Katsuki begins falling, only for Hanta to send tape out to grab him and yank him back to his team. I raise a brow. If they planned that out, theyâre really smart.
âIs that even allowed!?â Dad asks incredulously. Katsuki lands gracelessly on his teammatesâ arms, awkwardly shifting back into position and glaring at everyone.
âHe never touched the ground, so technically itâs okay.â Oba Nemuri replies. I roll my eyes.
âOh, hey, Yamada. Your boyfriendâs on that blonde assholeâs team.â I blush scarlet and refuse to look over, feeling more annoyed and irritated then I should that Hiyoko had brought up Eijiro being my boyfriend again after I told her he wasnât. I knew he was on Katsukiâs team already.
âHeâs not my boyfriend and I already knew that.â I growl.
âCalm down and focus on the game, Yamada. Hiyoko-Nee didnât mean anything.â Ryuji murmurs calmly. I take a breath. Eijiro...wasnât my boyfriend, much as Iâm beginning to want him to be...so there wasnât any point allowing myself to entertain that fantasy by responding everytime someone teases me about it.
Refocusing, I feel a two-person team rapidly gaining on us and slam a platform up as they leap at us. I smirk as they regain their footing and we keep moving. It was worth the loss in blood sugar.
âOoo-hoo-hoo! A nice defensive move from Tik- -I mean, um, Takara Yamada of Class 1-A! Nicely done!â Dad gushes and I blush, smiling widely in pride.
âHizashi, youâre supposed to be unbiased.â Mom chides.
âYeah, yeah. I know.â Dad replies, and I can practically pouting. That red-head is back all of a sudden, raring to grab her headband back.
âWe got a team coming up behind us, Hiyoko.â
âSo? Use your earth Quirk!â Hiyoko snaps back.
âI told you, controlling earth is harder.â I reply, trying not to get mad at her again. âWeâll just have to avoid them. I canât use either of my Quirks too much here. I didnât get any food after the race, so Iâm about half-empty right now.â I explain. Hiyoko huffs.
âFine. Thanks for the heads up.â She says, looking around and directing us away from the other teams. Ryuji grimaces a little and looks like somethingâs hurting him, but before I can ask whatâs wrong, Dadâs voice booms out over the crowd.
âNow, who wants to take a look at each teamsâ points so far?! Itâs been seven minutes since the game started, so letâs get those rankings thrown up on the screen!â I blink. Itâd been seven minutes already? I glance up and see that weâre between Shotoâs team and Team Kendo, whichever team that is, but...whoa⌠âHang on; this is an unexpected turn! Other than Midoriya, Class 1-Aâs not doing so hot!â I shrink a little in embarrassment. We werenât in the top four. Dad obviously saw that, so heâs probably talking about my team as well as the rest of 1-A. Crud⌠âEven Bakugo is losing!â I feel a tiny little bit better that Dad didnât single me out, but have to refocus as that red-head comes back around for another try at her headband. We barely manage to get away. Ryuji is definitely pained now, and heâs trying his best, but heâs not as fast as he used to be, so once weâve gotten fairly clear I decide to ask.
âHey, Ryuji, whatâs wrong?â He forces himself to look more normal.
âOh, itâs nothing. I just get headaches if there are too many intense emotions around me. The more intense, the more my head hurts.â I wince.
âEesh. Whoâs giving you a headache?â
âTeam Bakugo.â He replies. âSpecifically Bakugo.â I snort.
âYeah, Iâd imagine so. Heâs...very intense.â
âWhatever! Focus!â Hiyoko snaps, not noticing that two person team from before when they change course to come after us, and I look over my shoulder to see that the horse is a girl with ram-like horns and is bounding over the field on all fours, and the rider looks startled that Hiyoko used her claws. I couldnât do another earth wall, so I settle for warning Hiyoko.
âClose your eyes!â She hisses at us, then when we obey, she uses her sunlight as a kind-of stun ray, and we run past them, snatching a headband for good measure while they were reeling from the bright light. Before they recover, weâre a good distance away, dodging Tsuââs tongue and Minetaâs balls. I can hear him cackling and saying something, but I donât care enough to pay attention, focusing on dodging. Then, once weâre settled in the clear, Ryuji bites his lip to muffle a groan.
âCâmon, Ryu-boy, man up! Donât let your headache stop you!â Hiyoko growls. I frown.
âRyuji, is it getting worse?â I ask. He nods.
âYeah. Bakugoâs so pissed off right now, I canât focus! Itâs really ramping up my headache.â I bite my lip.
âHang on. Weâll try to put some dist- -holy shit youâre right!â I look over and flinch when I see Bakugoâs pure rage, directed at a boy I think is from Class 1-B.
âMonoma you ass, stop taunting him!â Hiyoko calls as we keep running.
âYou in his class or something?â I ask.
âYeah. Keep running!â Hiyoko replies. Despite the distance between our teams, I see the boy, âMonomaâ, not listening to Hiyoko, twirling what I assume is Katsukiâs headband on his finger and saying something to Katsuki, whoâs getting increasingly pissed off, much to his teammatesâ concern and fear. But âMonomaâ doesnât seem to mind. He simply keeps speaking, sealing his fate.
Honestly, I pity the guy. He picked the wrong person to-- I feel a team approach and I recognize it as Shotoâs team. Before I can even properly react to that, however, I suddenly feel very tingly, painfully so, and the pain increases as every muscle in my body seized up and I shook as electricity coursed through me. Damn Kaminari and his stupid electricity!
As our team reels back, groaning and aching, my feet suddenly feel icy cold. I try to walk to a warmer area, but I find my feet encased in ice. I blink. Shoto, you ass! Smart move, but still!
âShoto!â I growl. The teams in the vicinity are frozen to the ground.
âWould you look at that!â Dad calls excitedly. âHeâs stuck all those teams cold in their tracks!â I pout a little. Way to state the obvious, dad.
âBut only after Kaminari had immobilized the students using his electricity. In the obstacle course, Shoto was surprised at how many people avoided his attack. Heâs adapting his strategy.â Mom replies thoughtfully. I had to hand it to Shoto; he was a great strategist.
âNice commentary, hun!â Dad praises.
âYamada, melt the ice!â Hiyoko snaps. I look at her in shock.
âI canât! I use liquid water! I canât move ice! Defrosting it takes too much of my blood sugar, and I canât create ice, either. Iâm stuck with liquid water!â I reply.
âErgh! Fine! Cut the ice with the water, then! Hurry!â I nod and begin cutting us out. Chiharu also uses her bark on the ice around her feet, and that helped a lot.
In our haste to get out of the ice, however, I dropped my guard and didnât hear or feel a team approach till it was too late. Just as I was about to finish smashing a long-handled hammer of water against the last few spots of ice still stuck to us (Ryuji and Chiharu supporting Hiyoko while Chiharu regained her breath after her bark), I hear Hiyoko curse, feel the balance shift, and chuckling I knew all too well. I look up and see Shinsoâs team jogging away, Shinso fixing the headband around his neck. I glare at him, feeling angrier than I should at the fact that he stole one of our headbands. We were now below Team Tetsutetsu, and Hiyoko leans forward.
âShinso, you ass!â I bark, still feeling mad. âGet back here!â He just looks over his shoulder.
âItâs a competition, Takara.â He places emphasis on my first name, smirking as he does. âWe canât be too friendly here.â My eye twitches.
âShinso, you better giv- -waittaminute...you did not!â I just notice that Shinsoâs horses all look listless, eyes never closing...just blank slates. They were under the influence of his Quirk! That asshole brainwashed his teammates into being his horses, and then steals our headband?! No way!
There were less than six minutes left in the game, as I heard from Dad. We had to get our points back and then grab another headband in that time if we wanted to get into the final game. âYamada, this isnât the time to get upset!â Ryuji barks. âFocus!â I hardly heard him, whipping the water forward, but Ojiro was on Shinsoâs team and his tail shattered my formation. I stagger a little. âSee?â Ryuji adds. I grit my teeth, summoning the water back to me. Crap! I canât lose my cool! He was right! I take a breath.
âRyujiâs right, Takara. We have to get our points back, but if we lose our cool, thatâs not gonna happen.â Chiharu adds. âWhatâs got you so bent out of shape, anyway? You know this guy?â
âWe went to middle school together. Heâs my friend. Letâs just go.â We go after him, then Hiyoko leans toward a struggling team with a kinda werewolf-looking front horse. I see that they have more than two headbands and send the water to grab one as we pass. Now, all we had to do was get our headband back. In just over four minutes. I look over and see that Shinsoâs gotten a good distance away. âCâmon! We gotta moveâ I exclaim and race after my middle school friend. We got closer and closer just as I begin to feel woozy and lightheaded. Not good! I stagger on, though, gritting my teeth and pressing forward.
âHey, Yamada! You okay?â Ryuji asks.
âY-yeah, I...Iâm okay,â I mumble. âJust getting low. Running also takes energy and Iâm almost on empty here.â I explain further.
âIt would help if you didnât waste your energy on useless attacks.â Hiyoko snaps. I feel my cheeks heat in embarrassment.
âFine fine, whatever,â I reply. We didnât have a lot of time to catch up to Shinso.
âOnly one minute left!â Dad exclaims. âTeam Todoroki has cornered the 10 million point team and is poised to seize the ultimate prize!â I blink. Oh shit! Izuku better hope he can keep his headband for this last minute! âAt least, thatâs what I would have predicted five minutes ago!â Dad adds, laughing. I then shake myself and try to keep running, but the world was spinning now and it was hard to go in a straight line.
âGuys, Takaraâs getting worse! We gotta hurry!â Chiharu notes, voice rising in concern.
âThereâs less than a minute left! Hang on, Yamada!â Ryuji and Hiyoko reply almost perfectly in sync. I grit my teeth and keep running.
âUnbelievably, Team Midoriya has managed to avoid the ice master for the last half of the game!â Dad continues. I try to keep running, but itâs hard when your legs feel like theyâre dragging weights behind them. We run by a huge ice wall just as weâre about catch Shinso. Guess Shoto didnât...want...interruptions...gotta get the headband...Shinso...gotta...gotta focus! I reach out desperately with my water as the time ticks closer to ending. The world starts to go black and all I can think of doing is getting my team to the next game. As if from a distant tunnel, I hear Dad speaking and some commotion, but I canât focus on that.
Gotta...reach...a little...furtherâŚ.justâŚ
âTak- -â The world blank as I hear Oba call out the end of the game.
=#=#=#=#=
I come to on the ground, my team around me, looking at me in concern.
â--ney, I think, uh, Team Teichida is having some kind of difficulty there.â I distantly hear Dad saying.
âOne of the members passed out, it seems. She looks okay, but still. She shouldnât have pushed herself so hard.â Mom replies. I feel embarrassed that Mom and Dad were criticizing me in a roundabout way.
âAre you okay?â Chiharu asks, shaking my shoulders. I groan sluggishly. This was not how I wanted to make an impression. As long as we advance, though, itâs worth it.
â...Did...did I do it? Did we get the band?â I mumble, sitting up and holding my head.
â...um...wellâŚâ I pale and feel ready to pass out again. No, no, no!
âWe didnât make it to the final game?â Ryuji looks at me sympathetically. He knew how I was feeling.
âNo, but we tried our best. Thatâs what matters.â He says consolingly. It doesnât help at all. Hiyoko sighs.
âYeah, you tried damn hard, we all did, but it just...just wasnâtâŚâ She swallows. âIt didnât happen.â Shinso is suddenly behind my teammates, looking at me in concern. Chiharu and Ryuji scoot aside a little so he can help me up.
âYou shouldnât have pushed yourself till you passed out, idiot.â He says. I nod.
âYeah, but I wanted to get into the next game so bad...I didnât think straight.â
âHmm, and I probably shouldnât have targeted your team like I did. Sorry.â I shake my head, ignoring the way it made me feel dizzy.
âNo, no. Like you said, this is a competition. Congrats.â Iâd glanced up after he stole our headband and saw that he was in the top four. He nods.
âThanks. Letâs get you some food.â I shake my head again. I was feeling stronger now, and could make it to the vending machines alone. I...I needed to be alone right now. Luckily, it didnât seem like Mom and Dad had moved on from my passing out, so I was okay to sneak out and get food. I didnât want to face my parents right now.
âIâll be okay, Shinso. Iâm gonna go to the bathroom and get myself some food.â
âFood first, Yamada.â Shinso says, understanding why I declined his escort offer and walking away. Chiharu grabs my arm.
âYeah, letâs go.â I feel my emotions rising and pry her hand off reluctantly.
âI really appreciate it, Chiharu, but Iâll be fineâŚâ I assure her. âIâll be back in a sec.â I walk away before anyone can call me back and somehow manage to make it to the bathroom before the dam bursts and suddenly Iâm sitting on a toilet sobbing my heart out. I didnât make it into the final game...I failed.
What would Mom and Dad think?! Oh dear Lord I canât face them! Theyâre already disappointed, I know it! I tried my hardest and I failed! Thoughts lost all reason and sense at that point, flooding into me and back out again too fast for me to process. After what feels like forever, I manage to get myself together and shakily get to my feet, wobbling as I walk out and find a vending machine. Shinso was waiting.
âYou forgot your wallet, Takara.â He says, giving me a small smile over his shoulder. He knew what Iâd been doing. It wasnât like you couldnât look at me and tell Iâd been crying. I instinctively lean my head on his shoulder tiredly as he inserts a bill and presses the buttons for gummies. Those gummies had a lot of sugar. Good. He lets my head lull to the side while he grabs the gummies and hands them to me. He then walks over to the drink machine and gets himself and I water. He then walks over to a bench and I follow.
â...Thanks, Shinso.â I mumble around a few gummies as we sit down.
âDonât mention it. Now weâre even, right?â I chuckle.
âYeah, I guess so.â I lean on his shoulder again. âCan I stay here a sec? I donât want to go back yet.â He nods.
âNot too long, but yeah. Get yourself together.â I chuckle again and eat more gummies in silence. Why was he different than Eijiro? Why can I lean on his shoulder and not get super flustered?
Maybe itâs just that Shinsoâs been around too long. I never grew attracted to him romantically because he had been there since before I thought of boys like that. Heâd been my friend so long it was hard to picture him as anything else. Regardless, it was nice that he knew he didnât have to give me a pep talk. He just had to be here, letting me lean on his shoulder for a moment. This was a moment I needed to collect my thoughts and composure. Not getting into the final game had been a blow.
I tried as hard as I could, but couldnât quite get that headband we needed to get into the next game. That was that, no need to get caught up other thoughts.
âOh, good. Youâre feeling a little better.â Comes Ryujiâs voice as he rounds a corner. I smile at him.
âYeah, a little. Sorry for worrying you guys.â I mumble. Ryuji smiles.
âSorry I didnât stop you using your Quirk sooner. That last formation took too much out of you. I should have said something.â
âNah, Iâm the idiot that made the formation despite knowing it really wasnât my best move. I just really wanted to grab our headband.â Shinso sighs.
âAnd I really wanted to get into the next game.â I chuckle.
âI know. I donât hold it against you. Oh, by the way, this is Teichida Ryuji. Ryuji, this is Hitoshi Shinso, a guy I- -â
âWent to middle school with.â Ryuji interjects, smiling. âYou mentioned when he stole our headbands.â I frown, munching on the last of the gummies.
âOh. Really? Sorry.â He shakes his head.
âNo worries. You wanna head back or do you want me to bring someone here? You still seem pretty upset.â I sigh. While I did want to hug Eijiro right now, Iâm not sure I want him to know how badly I reacted. âI mean, um, I- -â Ryuji looks flustered, waving his hands around a little frantically.
âItâs fine, Ryuji. Um...I think Iâm okay to walk back, slow, but I donât really want everyone knowing what I did, soâŚâ
âYou look like shit, Takara. Thatâs not going away easily.â I sigh.
âThanks, ShinsoâŚâ Shinso points to the bathroom sign.
âGo back in there and splash your face with cold water a few times, donât rub your eyes, and pat it dry.â He then holds up my water bottle. âThen chug this.â I nod. He had probably done this before and knew how to hide it. I felt horrible I couldnât always help him when he got depressed and felt awful, but I do what I can.
I walk in and the water feels great on my face. I splash it a few times and gently wipe all the tear streaks away and pat my face dry. I feel better and come out.
Immediately, Shinso hands me my water. I drink it down and feel even better. I start walking back and side-hug Shinso when he catches up.
âI really appreciate this, Shinso.â I tell him. He nods.
âNo problem. Just donât mention it.â I nod in pretend sobriety.
âRiiight. Canât let anyone know you actually feel things.â I tease. He chuckles, knowing I didnât mean it literally.
âNo, not at all.â He replies, then leaves me to walk the rest of the way over to my teammates. I wasnât totally better but I was coming to grips with not being in the final game and I guess that was about all I can do at this point.
I canât change the past. I can only live with it.

Josh walked up to the cable car station and saw Maxine sitting on the bench with her legs drawn to her chest and her head down; a black backpack sat beside her. At first he thought of sneaking up on her but then noticed she was still wearing the same clothes, without a coat.
âMax, are you insane?â Josh asked as he rushed over. Maxine lifted her head and looked at him with raised eyebrows.
âWhat?â she asked. Josh put down the bag he was carrying and his backpack before he took off his coat.
âYou must be freezing.â Josh said as he put his coat around her.
âIâm fine.â Maxine said. Joshâs hand brushed Maxineâs and his eyes widened. He quickly kneeled in front of her.
âYouâre ice cold, Max.â Josh said as he held her hands between his and tried to warm them by rubbing them.
âI feel fine, really.â Maxine said.
âCan you feel your fingers?â Josh asked as he looked up at her.
âYeah. Josh, Iâm fine.â she said wiggling her fingers. âIâm always cold, Iâve just gotten used to it.â she said with a shrug. Maxine tried to take the jacket off but Josh held it closed before he zipped it up. Maxine sighed as she had to put her arms through to use her hands.
âIâd feel better if you kept this on.â he said as before he took her hands in his again.
âA-alright.â she said as she glanced away. Josh pulled his backpack back on.
âCome on.â he stood before he pulled her up before grabbing his other bag. âWe canât turn on the heat at the lodge since no one is supposed to have been up there until next weekend⌠but Iâm sure I can find some blankets for us.â Maxine nodded and pulled her backpack on one shoulder. The two walked over to the door. Maxine stared at their still joined hands as Josh got the key out of his pants pocket and unlocked the door.
âI almost forgot about the cable car.â Maxine said quietly.
âDonât worry, Iâm right here, youâll be fine.â Josh said as he gave her hand a squeeze and smiled. She gave him a small smile back as they walked into the station. Josh used the key and started it up. âAlright, letâs go.â The two stepped into the cable car and sat down. It started to move and Maxineâs other hand grabbed Joshâs arm. âHey, weâre okay.â He put his hand over hers. âSo, fear of heights huh?â
âUm⌠well more of a fear ofâŚâ Maxine swallowed. âfalling.â she said as she peeked up at him.
âHey,â Josh moved his arm to put it around her and pull her against him. âthere will be no falling on my watch.â he said as he rubbed her arm up and down slowly. âJust relax and try to keep warm.â
âAre you getting cold?â Maxine asked.
âDonât worry about me, Iâll be fine.â he said.
âOkay, if youâre sure.â Maxine said. Josh nodded with a smile and gave her hand another squeeze.
âAlright, itâs still a pretty long walk to the lodge. You sure youâre warm enough?â Josh asked as the two walked.
âJosh, Iâm fine. I really wish you would take your jacket back, you must be cold.â
âMax, I told you that Iâm fine.â Josh said. âWeâll get up to the lodge and you can bury me in blankets.â he added with a chuckle. âYa know, I never did ask you, why are you wearing the same clothes from yesterday?â
âWell youâve only seen me in these clothes.â Maxine said with a shrug. âI thought it might be weird otherwise.â
âSo you washed your clothes to wear them again today?â Josh asked with an amused smile.
âMhm.â Maxine said with a nod.
âWow.â Josh said with a chuckle. Maxine smirked slightly.
âWhat? Do you not like my clothes?â she asked.
âNo your clothes are fine.â Josh said. âIâm just staying youâre pretty dedicated to only letting me see you in one thing.â
âI like this outfit.â Maxine said. âI have a lot of pockets, pockets can be really handy.â she said looking down at her pants. Josh rolled his eyes with a smirk.
âCâmon, weâre almost there.â Josh said.
âŚ
The two reached the lodge and instead of going up to the front door Josh turned and started walking down a path. Â
âUh Josh?â Maxine asked as she stopped walking.
âWe canât go in through the front door.â Josh said glancing back at her. âItâs frozen over. I uh⌠I came here last weekend to set up a few things before hand.â
âFrozen over?â Maxine asked. Josh nodded.
âItâs going to work to our advantage though.â Josh said with a smirk. âFollow me.â The two walked around back and found a row of high windows. âWe go in through here.â Josh said as he pointed to one of them.
âIâm not sure if your bag will fit.â Maxine said.
âSure it will.â
âLet me rephrase that: I donât think weâre gunna be able to get it up to get through the window.â Maxine said.
âDonât worry. We can do it.â Josh said. âHere help me move this.âJosh said as he put his bags down. Maxine put hers down as well and walked over to him. She put her back against the metal container and started to push as Josh put his hands on either side of her to push. He flashed a smile down at her when she looked up at him. They moved it under the window before standing up. âLadies first?â Maxine glanced up at the window before she nodded.
âAlright.â she said before climbing up.
âBe careful.â Josh said holding up his hands to catch her should she fall.
âIâm good.â Maxine said with a nod as she lifted the window open before she swung her leg inside. She swung her other leg in and slowly lowered herself. Her foot hit the edge of a counter and slipped off. She let out a yelp as she fell but landed on her feet, her hands slammed the counter as she caught herself.
âMax! Are you alright?â Josh asked as he climbed up to look inside.
âIâm fine.â she said as looked up at him. âPass me the bags.â
âAlright.â Josh said before he got down to get them.
âŚ
âSo Iâll have someone do what we just did to get the door open.â Josh said as the two picked up their bags and walked through the room. âI already set up a few⌠hints⌠for whoever I have get the door.â Maxine nodded.
âSo what do we need to set up?â she asked.
âWell thereâs a few things I have to do.â Josh said. âBut I need you to put more hints around so everyone thinks thereâs a maniac up here with us.â He said with a chuckle. âWell that and I need you to familiarize yourself with the place.â
âAlright.â
âWeâll need to set up the fake ghost, figure out how to move the spirit board on our ownâŚâ
âI can handle that.â Maxine said. Josh looked at her. âThe spirit board part.â Josh nodded.
âAlright. Um⌠we also have to set up a few recordings..â Josh said.
âOkay.â
âUm... you can stay in my room.â Josh said. âIâll say in my parentâs.â Â Maxine nodded. âIf youâre tired you could go lay down, I know it was a long walk.â
âIâm fine.â Maxine said with a smile.
âAlright, if youâre sure.â Josh said as he returned the smile.
âItâs pretty freaky down here.â
âDonât worry, Iâll protect ya.â Josh said with a smirk and a wink. Maxine rolled her eyes as she tried to ignore the colour that came to her cheeks.
âCan we light some of these candles or something?â Maxine asked as she noticed the candles on a few tables.
âAh, a little mood lighting?â Josh teased.
âYou know what I mean.â Maxine said as she lightly hit his arm. Josh chuckled.
âYeah, here.â Josh reached into his pocket then handed her a lighter.
âThis place is huge.â Maxine said after she lit a few of the candles.
âIâll go get us some blankets.â Josh said before he jogged up the stairs.
âŚ
A few minutes later Josh came back down the stairs with an armful of blankets.
âIâm sorry I canât light a fire for you.â he said as he walked over to Maxine who sat on the couch.
âItâs alright.â Maxine gave him a smile. Josh put the blankets down before he grabbed one and flicked it open above Maxine, bringing it down around her.
âThere ya go.â Josh said with a smile as he fixed the blanket around her. She smiled shyly at him as he rubbed her shoulders briefly.
âThanks.â Maxine said quietly. Josh stood with a smile and grabbed a blanket for himself. Â He pulled it around himself before he sat next to Maxine and put his arm, as well as half his blanket, around her.
âAfter we get you warmed up weâll head down to the basement to set up. Kay?â Josh asked. Maxine nodded.
Maxine put the dollhouse key up on the hook before she put the painting up to cover it. Maxine headed back to where Josh had been drilling holes in the pipes and found the drill on the table but no Josh in sight.
âJosh?â she called. âW-Whereâd you go?â There was a thud behind her. She whirled around with a gasp but nothing was there. Maxine took a step back and her back hit something hard. She let out a scream as she turned around.
âMax!â Josh grabbed her shoulders. âItâs only me!â Maxine put a hand on her chest as she closed her eyes. âYou alright?â Maxine hit Joshâs arm.
âYou scared me!â she said with a frown as she looked up at him.
âIâm sorry, I didnât mean to.â Josh said with a small smile. âThereâs nothing down here but you and me.â
âI know.â Maxine said as she looked down. Josh gently held her chin and lifted her head.
âHey, I said Iâd protect you, didnât I?â he asked as he tilted his head. Maxine started to smile which made Josh grin. âThatâa girl.â he said as he patted her shoulder.
âItâs getting pretty late.â Josh said as the two headed upstairs. âGuess itâs time we hit the hay. Iâll show you to my room.â Maxine nodded and followed him. âHere we are.â Josh opened the door and gestured into the room.
âWhere will you be?â Maxine asked.
âIâll be in my parents room.â He turned and pointed down the hallway at a door. âThrough that door and a little further down thereâs another set of doors.â
âThat far away?â Maxine asked with a frown. Josh looked down at her.
âYeah. You⌠you gunna be okay?â he asked. Maxine started to wring her wrists. âYou want⌠uh⌠you want me to stay with you?â
âWould you?â Maxine looked up at him. The look on her face reminded him of a lost child. âPlease?â
âYeah, sure, of course.â Josh said with a nod.
âJust until I fall asleep.â Maxine said quickly. âThen you can go if you wantâŚâ
âIâll stay, donât worry.â Josh said with a soft smile. âCome on.â he said before going into the room. âDo you want me to get more blankets?â
âIâm not that cold.â Maxine said with a smile. Josh nodded.
âAlright.â he said. Maxine sat on the edge of the bed and took her boots off. Josh stood awkwardly until she turned to look at him. âUhâŚâ Josh blinked and pulled off one of his boots before he ended up falling over. Maxine started to giggle as Josh ran a hand through his hair. âSmooth, JoshâŚâ he mumbled to himself.
âAre you okay?â Maxine asked as she moved to look down at him.
âIâm fine.â Josh said before he took off his boots and put them aside. âScoot over.â he said as he got up. Maxine moved under the covers and Josh hesitantly joined her. âYou warm enough?â he asked after a moment.
âMhm.â Maxine hummed. âThank you for staying with me.â she whispered.
âOf course.â Josh said. âGet some sleep, Max.â
âGoodnight.â Maxine whispered. Josh closed his eyes only to open them wide when he felt Maxineâs lips on his cheek. He turned his head to see her nuzzling her head against the pillow with her eyes closed. A small smile pulled at Joshâs lips as he closed his eyes again.
Josh woke and immediately smiled at the weight on his chest. He looked down to see Maxineâs red and black hat. He could feel the weight of her hand on his stomach as her hand  lightly gripped his shirt. His hand rested on her back and he tried his hardest not to move it. Maxine shifted slightly before she looked up at him.
âMorning.â he whispered as he tried and failed to hide his smile.
âGood morning.â she whispered back. Joshâs hand started to trace circles on Maxineâs back subconsciously.
âYou uh⌠sleep well?â he asked. Maxine nodded.
âMhm.â she hummed. âAny more we need to set up today?â she asked.
âI just need to set up all the cameras and the video to send to everyone. You gunna help me out?â he asked.
âWhat else would I do?â Maxine asked as she rolled her eyes. Josh smirked.

âOkay, these are the Hardys, so you two really need to be on your best behavior,â I scolded Sheamus and Cesaro.
âYes maâam,â Cesaro replied, giving me a little salute.
âSheamus?â I turned to him, eyebrow quirked up in question.
âWe have to win the belts, lass, Iâll do what I need to do,â Sheamus told me.
âSheamus, you listen to me,â I began, ignoring Cesaroâs chuckle beside us. âThese are the Hardys. Theyâve been working together for like, ever. They know each other like the back of their own hands. You and Cesaro, you know I love you guys, but you two can be so volatile.â At Sheamusâs indignant opening of his mouth, I held up a hand to keep him quiet. âAnd I know youâre working on it, but sometimes you let your temper interfere with whatâs happening in the ring.â
âItâs true,â Cesaro offered, turning to face Sheamus.
âNot helping,â I said, watching the way Sheamusâs eyes narrowed in Cesaroâs direction. âSheamus, look at me.â I placed my hands on his shoulders, getting him to focus on me. âI love you, and I know youâre gonna go out there and kick ass and come back here with that shiny red belt. But for you to do that, I need you to promise me that you will keep that fiery temper at bay, okay?â
âBut the titles!â Sheamus was obviously exasperated, his hands thrown into the air.
âYouâll get the titles. You just need to relax and trust yourself, trust Cesaro. Heâs your partner for a reason, okay? Donât let your anger get the best of you. Use it to your advantage, get those titles back. But donât do anything rash.â I refused to let him get away until he agreed, until he understood what I was trying to say to him.
âAlright, lass. I understand,â Sheamus finally said, hands moving to my waist to pull me into him. He pressed one kiss to my forehead and another to my lips before Cesaro interrupted us.
âYou two done here? We have a match to win.â He tried to look annoyed, but I could see the traces of a smile on his face, his lips turning upward.
âYou have a match you better win,â I corrected him, giving Sheamus another quick kiss before finally stepping aside. âIâll be right here waiting for you and your shiny new belt.â
I watched as Sheamus and Cesaro moved past me to gorilla, already deep in discussion about their match. Satisfied Sheamus had gotten the message and Cesaro would keep him in line, I went to find a monitor and a chair, settling down just before their music hit. I loved their entrance, loved that they finally found a way to work with each other rather than against each other. I could only hope that I could say the same during the match, fingers crossed that they could win and become tag team champions again.
âOh my god,â I mumbled, watching as Sheamus covered Matt. The referee slid next to them on the matt, starting the count. I flinched after two, worried that Matt was going to kick out. When the refereeâs hand hit the mat for the third time, however, I relaxed against the chair. They had done it. Sheamus and Cesaro had done it!
And then it really registered in my head. Sheamus and Cesaro had won the tag titles again. They had beaten the Hardys. Before I could stop myself, I was out of my seat, running down the hallway. I wanted to be waiting for them when they came through the curtain, waiting to celebrate with Sheamus.
By the time I had slid to a stop in the doorway, Sheamus and Cesaro had just stepped through the curtain. Everyone in the room broke out into applause as Sheamus and Cesaro talked to the Hardys, thanking them for an amazing match. When the crowd finally cleared away, I made my way towards the two men, jumping into Sheamusâs arms as soon as I was close enough.
âIâm so proud of you!â I squealed, wrapping my arms around him. âYou did it! Thanks for keeping him in line, Cesaro,â I added, moving my head to look at Cesaro.
âNo problem.â He waved me off with a smile before moving down the hallway, leaving Sheamus alone with me.
âI really am proud of you,â I told him, crushing our lips together. I forgot we were in a very busy area of backstage until someone awkwardly cleared their throat behind us. I pulled away from the kiss sheepishly, dropping from Sheamusâs hold.
âWhat do you say we go celebrate, huh?â he asked, leading me through the halls.
âWhat do you have in mind?â I replied, coming to a halt right outside the door to his locker room.
Sheamus turned to me over his shoulder, a cocky smile on his lips and I couldnât help but to smile back. Cocky Sheamus was one of my favorite versions of him. When heâs so caught up in himself, in his accomplishments, itâs interesting to say the least. And it always ends well, with both of us insanely happy with the dayâs events.
âI think you know,â he replied, mischievous glint in his eyes as his fingers mindlessly tapped against the red belt secured around his waist.
âIâm not too sure I do,â I goaded, twisting the doorknob to his locker room. âSo I think you better show me.â And then I slipped through the door, letting it close behind me.
The door had barely settled itself into the frame before it was ripped open, Sheamus tearing into the room. I bit my lip at the look on his face, cocky and proud, his steps a little more confident than usual. He stepped right up to me, one of his arms wrapping around my waist to pull me into his chest. The edges of his title belt were digging into the skin of my stomach through the thin material of my dress but I wasnât focused on that. Rather, I was entranced by the way Sheamusâs eyes darkened just slightly, cocky smirk firmly in place on his lips. The hand wrapped around my waist dropped further down to my ass, pulling my hips further into his, palm kneading the flesh in his hand.
âYou said something about a celebration,â I reminded him, pushing my ass back against his hand.
The only answer I got was his smirk widening before Sheamus pulled along with him as he stepped back. He sat back against the couch in the middle of the room, leaving me to straddle his lap.
âThen letâs get to celebrating,â he muttered against my lips before finally pressing his lips to mine. There was nothing slow and sweet about this kiss. It was passionate, desperate, as I molded myself even closer to Sheamus. His hands were on my waist, keeping me anchored against him as our tongues met and I groaned into the kiss, grinding my hips against his.
Sheamus pulled away, trailing kisses to my neck instead, teeth nipping lightly against the delicate skin there. My head fell back, eyes closed as he worked, but they shot open when he moved one of his hands around to my inner thigh, tracing lightly against my skin. I let out a whine as his fingers moved further up my thigh, just barely brushing the lace edge of my underwear.
âSheamus, please,â I whined, arching my hips into his touch.
At that, he moved his mouth from my neck, leaning back to let his eyes focus on my face. I knew I was flushed, knew my lips were bruised and my eyes shining. And Sheamus seemed to like it, seemed to like knowing that he was the one who made me look so blissed out, because his cocky smirk returned and he slid two fingers under my underwear, brushing my entrance lightly.
My hips jerked towards him when his fingers settled on my clit, just briefly, before sliding into my entrance completely, hooking his fingers up into me. Sheamusâs free hand tightened on my hips, trying to keep me steady. I whined in response, trying desperately to move my hips against him.
âShh,â he cooed, pumping his fingers into me steadily. He focused on trailing kisses across my neck at the same time he moved his thumb to my clit, rubbing circles against me.
âSheamus,â I moaned, grinding against his fingers. The familiar heat was building in my stomach as he kept up his harsh pace, and I felt my muscles clench around his fingers, signalling how close I was. And then his fingers were gone. I opened my mouth to protest, to beg, to do something, but before I could get my brain to work, to find the right words to say, Sheamus had torn my underwear from my legs and managed to slide his trunks down his thighs just far enough to free his cock.
Both of his hands fell back to my hips, pulling the skirt of my dress up and holding it there as he moved me closer to him, the head of his cock brushing against my entrance, teasing me. His eyes still held the mischievous glow from earlier, pride evident on his face as I whined, silently begging for him to finally move.
Finally, Sheamus put an end to his teasing as he lifted me up just slightly, sliding me down his length. When our hips were flush against each other, my muscles fluttered around him, the head of his cock pressed against my G-spot.
And then I was riding Sheamus shamelessly, the cool metal of his title belt still around his waist pressed against my skin. His hands helped my movements along and he kept that damn smirk on his face, muttering something in my ear constantly about how great he was, about what that title meant. And I was eating it up, moans filling the air. Sheamusâs grip on my hips tightened, shifting the angle of his thrusts just a bit, until I was seeing stars behind my eyelids.
âOh my god, Sheamus,â I cried, riding him faster. I could feel myself close to coming again, intent on making it this time, refusing to let him stop me.
I heard Sheamus growl in my ear as one of his hands moved back to my clit, fingers rubbing harshly against me. And then I was coming, hard, around him. None of the words that fell from my lips made any sense, all nonsense sounds and moans as his hands gripped my hips even tighter. Faintly, in the back of my mind, I knew that I would have bruises littering my hips tomorrow. But none of that mattered as Sheamus buried his face in my neck as he came, hips stuttering against mine.
His breathing was harsh in the hollow of my neck, my hands busying themselves in his hair as he came down from his high. Finally, he pulled back, eyes meeting mine. And they were back to being soft, loving. All signs of Cocky Sheamus were gone as his hands moved to cup my cheeks, bringing my face forward so he could press a kiss to my forehead.
âI love you,â he whispered against my skin.
âI love you, too,â I assured him. âLove that nice belt around your waist, too.â
