Ngl le temps des fleurs makes me feel like a hamster scurrying in a cage that's too small for me. Just trying to burrow straight into the plastic bottom paneling and going insane until i chew off my own feet.

i keep getting tiktoks of these younger gen z kids referencing a time they did something relating to fandom in public and now they're embarrassed by it and everytime i see one i sit there thinking over all of middle and high school and having genuinely 0 moments that i feel embarrassed by, like i definitely did a lot of shit these kids would be embarrassed by but i think these are all just really fucking funny
also photographic evidence of the kinda kid i was. these are from 2014/15 when i was in 8th grade
-desolation row one shot(still on wattpad gerard way/reader smut)
-twerk it on (mcr crack fanfic no longer on wattpad but i have another fic in my library called twerking in taco bell which definitely ALSO used for my reading log)
-frank iero must die(a serial killer/assassin frerard fic, still on wattpad)
-hair (really vague maybe a phanfic? nowhere in my wattpad library rip)
Tumblr media
my binder i used in 7th grade i had a blue one that looked pretty similar to this for 8th grade but idk where it went, also the parts i scribbled out are my full legal name i had written on it. i wrote it normally and then the big spot is where i wrote my name REALLY BIG in elysian code from the vladimir tod books. also the lines are from when i used an exacto knife to cut up some papers and forgot that my binder was underneath
Tumblr media Tumblr media

Welp. I'm in a predicament. Of my own making of course.
So I'm making a cosplay for an event, and while my brother bought a pre-made one, I though "I want to make my own so I can customize it to comfortability and because the cheap ones look....well...cheap." nothing wrong with them, they just didn't fit my imagination for this cosplay.
Which is fine, I always dreamed of making my own cosplay, but like usual, I procrastinated.
Made worse by the fact that this is my first cosplay. (I'm such an idiot).
And as you could expect, things aren't going to plan. I am failing back on plan b's that I don't even know if they'll work and with little time to make it happen.
Not to mention, I'm pretty sure it's going to look much different than how I imagined it going and will probably look poorly made.
Even worse, my brain decided we're b.s.ing sewing. I don't know how to sew, but my brain is set on doing it so...
And I'm pretty sure it's too late now to back out of DIYing it.
(Hehe. My anxiety is sky rocketing)
Too late to ask for advice, So any tips for damage control? (Or words of encouragement for this garbage fire)

you know what. something ELSE about the last herald-mage adaptation that may or may not ever happen is that I wouldn't mind if they didn't actually adapt the books word for word. Not in a "they follow the loose story of the books but change things around for x reason" way, but in a "we're exploring different avenues or facets of Vanyels' life we never got to see in the books" way. like if they made a series filling in the gaps between the three books and covering those huge time skips that expands on the world, and gives us developments on the part of Vanyel's character that we never got to see, I think I would be satisfied with that as long as it's well done. Also, big opportunity for world development when possible, since places outside Valdemar like Karse didn't really get any genuine attention until much later on in the overarching Valdemar series.
There's so much of his story that we never saw because of the time skips! And I feel like there's plenty of room to do something original that way (because of course they're going to want to do something original) while ALSO staying more or less true to the source material without eviscerating it, especially since there's so much in the original books that I think will be very hard to adapt well or even respectfully. I feel like this is something that can totally be done without alienating people who aren't familiar with the original books, while also creating something new and interesting that can stand on its own.

one of these days ill probably write some little fic thing abt some scene from linebecks childhood esp since ive been thinking abt it and havent really touched up my ideas for it in a while, but besides one about linebeck and damien initially meeting and bonding over linebeck cutting damien’s hair short for him, i think i want to do one more abt linebeck first meeting the two pirates that teach him about sailing and halfway raise him, though it’s less a formal meeting and more linebeck just wandering onto their ship as a kid and dodging the attempts of the crew to catch him while he pokes around

lloyd canonly being an angry crier gives a lot of potential moments of both vulnerability and endless teasing, ngl 👀👀
god it really does, i know it's not very realistic but i keep hoping one day we'll get to see him get into a full blown fight with someone and that particular characteristic of him will pop out at a very inconvinient time hjashdka
also i'm so glad i finally have someone else confirm that trait i was kinda scared i had exagerated it ajkshdka
lloyd would probably get so frustrated, because he's not sad! he's not hurt! he's just so mad it feels like everything it's bursting at the seams and he can't even talk because there's a knot in his throat and if he blinks he knows he's gonna start tearing up and he! hates it!!
it's one thing when it't just javier bickering with him and cornering him to a point lloyd doesn't have a good comeback and it maybe a stung a little more than normal and he got a little bit angry and ok so he's tearing up but that doesn't prove anything! shut up javier!
javier starts carrying a hankerchief with him and offering it to lloyd with a smug smirk when he notices him tearing up which makes lloyd get soooo mad. sometimes he'll just stop their bickering by being like "i don't want to upset master lloyd to tears like last time :/" something lloyd also detests with his entire soul but he can't actually deny and he hateeees it
but it's another thing completely when he's actually angry and he actually wants to make a point and he wants to scream because he can feel his chest start getting tight and his vision is getting blurry and he hates how pathetic it must make him look, how easy it is to get under his skin, how vulnerable it makes him feel when he can't help but cry out of anger. it frustrates him to no end knowing the person he's arguing with probably thinks they already have the upper hand just because he can't help tearing up when he's enraged.
and i think javier wouldn't be able to handle this actually, if he saw that lloyd was getting genuinely upset with him to the point where he was full on crying, even if he knows it's more likely out of anger, he wouldn't be able to help worrying that there is actual hurt underneath and he'd start trying to defuse the situation. or at the very least it would shook him enough for his own anger to slow down.
and if he saw another person pushing lloyd to that point, they probably wouldn't live for very long lmao

ok currently inspecting July Events to figure out wtf happened to Vash's coat
so we see him at the start of July in this:
Tumblr media
which upon inspection IS different from his coat at the start of the series:
Tumblr media
which makes this shot immediately post-july make some sense:
Tumblr media
he's got the same belts pants, so clearly not ALL of his outfit got blown off, but it seems like his prior coat didn't survive the explosion. so at some point, he'd have to contact the floating ship again to get another coat made (these ppl really are working overtime keeping up with his coat and prosthetic demolishing lmaooo) WHICH on the topic of his prosthetic, it seems like it DID survive the July explosion, which is interesting!
smth im wondering about. In dialog, we hear from Brad that he met Vash when he was 4 years old, but hasn't seen him in the 13 years since (this being after the 2 years post-jeneora). at that time, it's 8 years post-july (since july happens 6 years before the start of the series, and then add the 2 years time skip post-jeneora), which sets the events of July THEORETICALLY to happen 5 years after his last visit to the flying ship.
so, how did he get his new coat if he hasn't been back to the flying ship in 13 years? Well, i assume he has some way to contact them from afar, considering he manages to get Sensei to bring him a new coat post-jeneora in some random town (& Sensei now brings Brad, who is 17, but would've only been 9 the last time).
this brings the question: how does he contact them? some kind of communication device? i remember his earring's a radio, but i dont remember him having any specific way to contact them directly. so maybe it's just not shown? i cant imagine he'd be able to send letters, all things considered, so it's probably some kind of radio transmission. the technology Does exist, & they almost definitely would pin a special radio on this disaster-prone asshole so he could still keep contact during the long years he's away from home.
the more you know 🤔
#speculation nation#fanny reads trigun#making a new tag for posts like these#fanny's trigun analysis#bc the wiki is frankly lacking in definite details like this#for the sake of my own writing i gotta do the analysis myself#which includes piecing together the timeline & vash's habits in the time between events.#i have very specific information i need for my fic. right NOW july and the flying ship being the most relevant.#im also wondering what vash thought of knives' condition. if he knew what state he was in#he never doubted that knives was still alive. so did he see him? or was he just drawing the natural conclusion given his own resilience?#we do see in chapter 88 of trimax that legato at knives' side can see vash across the way. not Close but still visible.#as vash perches on that damned bolder for who knows how long. processing? grieving? who knows what's happening there.#considering how loud legato screams and how acute vash's hearing is i bet he was aware of his existence.#assuming he's in the mind state to be aware of his surroundings that is. always possible he was too stuck in his brain and all.#these r all details im trying to pick apart for chapter 2 of my new fic. i know the direction vash is gonna go#but that initial moment. his initial Processing. im trying to sort out the details of that scene. he is not going to have a fun time lmfao#trigun spoilers/#edit for additional detail i realized: vash just plain didnt remember july. at all.#so the reason he wasnt worried about knives was bc he didnt know he got caught up in this to start with lmaooo#whoopsie daisey sometimes u read thru smth wayy too quickly and u forget essential details. whoops

That ‘is this UK uni accommodation or a Swedish prison’ game is so funny but also so depressing
#literally it’s bringing back flashbacks of my final year of undergrad when i realised i was going to have to live on campus#or close to campus because i’d forgotten how to drive because i’d been in america for a year sans car#but then i missed the deadlines for good acommodation (because america) so i went for the cheapest option that was still available to me#which was a room in a building that ended up being CONDEMNED at the end of that academic year#guys it was so bad. there was racist graffiti all over the walls because no one had any respect for the place#broken glass in the courtyard. no lounge; you had to sit on the metal stairs to hang out#the stairwells just had brick walls. the kitchens were built to be shared by 6 persons maximum but forced to house 9 so they were so cramped#it was unbelieveable. i started eating at weird times so i wouldn’t have to awkwardly stare at someone while waiting for a counter/stovetop#to be free. on top of this there were wasp and silverfish infestations; my window was so drafty that hailstones came in once#the mattresses were full of fiberglass and felt like they were made up entirely of springs; and there were ground-in vomit and piss stains#on my chair and floor#and i paid ~£90.50 per week~ for this#the only thing that kept me sane was the free bus pass. i never missed a class and i went to campus every single day#and attended tons of random events and guest lectures just to not be in my room. i’d be the only person in the library at 8am on a sunday#my flatmates were a bunch of insane first years who drank and screamed at all hours so that didn’t help either. i didn’t make any friends#it was just so bad. there were never any community events taking place either and i saw the RAs exactly once. they were completely useless#reception nearly lost the kindle i ordered. i thought about doing laundry once and saw that the laundry room was absolute unmitigated chaos#so i was like ‘fuck it i’ll just wait until i’m home next weekend’ and i went into town to buy clothes to tide me over#it was just such a horrible experience. and i hate that it’s a universal one#uk universities are really like ‘give us £9k in tuition fees and also pay an arm and a leg for your accommodation.#no we will not be improving our accommodation’ it makes me fucking crazy. like where is my money GOING#you find out they spent millions refurbishing a building that didn’t need to be refurbished and you’re like. you could’ve replaced#the carpet in my room for maybe a couple of hundred quid considering how small the room is#pisses me off. my advice to undergrads is visit potential halls of residence and read reviews of them#and don’t just let them dazzle you with the tour where they only show you the good rooms - poke around. see if there’s damp or wasps#look for stains. etc. or better yet; find a half decent landlord and rent a room in a house#i had a way better time during my master’s and it was because i talked to landlords and visited their houses and brought my nosy mum#and i picked a landlord who only housed postgrads; mature students & professionals. you couldn’t pay me to live in halls again#personal#rant

"Two and a half years ago, when I was asked to help write the most authoritative report on climate change in the United States, I hesitated...
In the end, I said yes, but reluctantly. Frankly, I was sick of admonishing people about how bad things could get. Scientists have raised the alarm over and over again, and still the temperature rises. Extreme events like heat waves, floods and droughts are becoming more severe and frequent, exactly as we predicted they would. We were proved right. It didn’t seem to matter.
Our report, which was released on Tuesday, contains more dire warnings. There are plenty of new reasons for despair. Thanks to recent scientific advances, we can now link climate change to specific extreme weather disasters, and we have a better understanding of how the feedback loops in the climate system can make warming even worse. We can also now more confidently forecast catastrophic outcomes if global emissions continue on their current trajectory.
But to me, the most surprising new finding in the Fifth National Climate Assessment is this: There has been genuine progress, too.
I’m used to mind-boggling numbers, and there are many of them in this report. Human beings have put about 1.6 trillion tons of carbon in the atmosphere since the Industrial Revolution — more than the weight of every living thing on Earth combined. But as we wrote the report, I learned other, even more mind-boggling numbers. In the last decade, the cost of wind energy has declined by 70 percent and solar has declined 90 percent. Renewables now make up 80 percent of new electricity generation capacity. Our country’s greenhouse gas emissions are falling, even as our G.D.P. and population grow.
In the report, we were tasked with projecting future climate change. We showed what the United States would look like if the world warms by 2 degrees Celsius. It wasn’t a pretty picture: more heat waves, more uncomfortably hot nights, more downpours, more droughts. If greenhouse emissions continue to rise, we could reach that point in the next couple of decades. If they fall a little, maybe we can stave it off until the middle of the century. But our findings also offered a glimmer of hope: If emissions fall dramatically, as the report suggested they could, we may never reach 2 degrees Celsius at all.
For the first time in my career, I felt something strange: optimism.
And that simple realization was enough to convince me that releasing yet another climate report was worthwhile.
Something has changed in the United States, and not just the climate. State, local and tribal governments all around the country have begun to take action. Some politicians now actually campaign on climate change, instead of ignoring or lying about it. Congress passed federal climate legislation — something I’d long regarded as impossible — in 2022 as we turned in the first draft.
[Note: She's talking about the Inflation Reduction Act and the Infrastructure Act, which despite the names were the two biggest climate packages passed in US history. And their passage in mid 2022 was a big turning point: that's when, for the first time in decades, a lot of scientists started looking at the numbers - esp the ones that would come from the IRA's funding - and said "Wait, holy shit, we have an actual chance."]
And while the report stresses the urgency of limiting warming to prevent terrible risks, it has a new message, too: We can do this. We now know how to make the dramatic emissions cuts we’d need to limit warming, and it’s very possible to do this in a way that’s sustainable, healthy and fair.
The conversation has moved on, and the role of scientists has changed. We’re not just warning of danger anymore. We’re showing the way to safety.
I was wrong about those previous reports: They did matter, after all. While climate scientists were warning the world of disaster, a small army of scientists, engineers, policymakers and others were getting to work. These first responders have helped move us toward our climate goals. Our warnings did their job.
To limit global warming, we need many more people to get on board... We need to reach those who haven’t yet been moved by our warnings. I’m not talking about the fossil fuel industry here; nor do I particularly care about winning over the small but noisy group of committed climate deniers. But I believe we can reach the many people whose eyes glaze over when they hear yet another dire warning or see another report like the one we just published.
The reason is that now, we have a better story to tell. The evidence is clear: Responding to climate change will not only create a better world for our children and grandchildren, but it will also make the world better for us right now.
Eliminating the sources of greenhouse gas emissions will make our air and water cleaner, our economy stronger and our quality of life better. It could save hundreds of thousands or even millions of lives across the country through air quality benefits alone. Using land more wisely can both limit climate change and protect biodiversity. Climate change most strongly affects communities that get a raw deal in our society: people with low incomes, people of color, children and the elderly. And climate action can be an opportunity to redress legacies of racism, neglect and injustice.
I could still tell you scary stories about a future ravaged by climate change, and they’d be true, at least on the trajectory we’re currently on. But it’s also true that we have a once-in-human-history chance not only to prevent the worst effects but also to make the world better right now. It would be a shame to squander this opportunity. So I don’t just want to talk about the problems anymore. I want to talk about the solutions. Consider this your last warning from me."
-via New York Times. Opinion essay by leading climate scientist Kate Marvel. November 18, 2023.

everytime someone, usually white, talks about the IOF using major US cultural events as "distractions" to commit more genocidal operations in Palestine, I want to SCREAM. The assumption that the IOF is hanging on the us's every fart to make their moves is US centrism, narcissism at global proportions. the IOF don't need "distractions" they've been murdering, torturing and displacing Palestinians and other Arabs for almost a century with impunity because they KNOW they can get away with it. Because the IOF knows practically no one who can actually stop them gives a fuck about Palestinians and Arabs. The IOF don't need a presidential assassination scandal, a met gala, or any large event to cover for their atrocities because they've been doing them in broad daylight everyday, all day for decades, AND BRAGGING about it. Claiming the IOF is doing anything because some event is providing a "distraction" is a vapid projection of a personal inability to deal with the cognitive dissonance and guilt of bearing witness and experiencing these events simultaneously. Not to mention, it plays into anti-jewish conspiracies of Jewish world domination by insulating connections between major events that are often unconnected. It's okay that you feel scared and confused and overwhelmed, but stop pretending the IOF even cares about Palestinians and Arabs enough to wait for the world to be distracted to kill us. They don't need to. They never have and it's hugely ignorant of at least a century of history, anti-Arab racism, and Zionism to say otherwise.
EDIT: I was wrong making this post. @el-shab-hussein took the time to correct me in their reblog here. But I will also copy and paste their correction here:
They committed some of the most atrocious massacres since the start of the acceleration during and directly after the debates between Trample and Bitchen, with several hundreds confirmed dead by day. It's crazy how much Palestinians have discussed the phenomenon of Israel using major U.S. events as a distraction before the acceleration and we've posted about it on tumblr and I've seen other Palestinians make threads about it on Twitter to compile various instances where U.S. events and other major world events used as distractions (wow! Look an example to back my point: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5). "They don't need distractions" yes they do, that is the very basis of the massive Israeli lobby and hasbara industry. Don't patronize us just because you can't understand how central the U.S. and its apathy is in our genocide. Recognizing the role of American cultural imperialism and its far-reaching consequences is not perpetuating it - what an incredibly lazy way to try to shut us up - it's recognizing who's the lynchpin in the equation here.
